I had reservations immediately after I ordered this, and even attempted to cancel the order. I’m glad that I wasn’t successful! My husband put it together in less than 15 minutes, I cleaned it and our juvenile Diamond Jungle Jag CP was in it and exploring within the hour.
He will live in it until his custom semi arboreal set up finally arrives (ridiculous lead time) and then my corn snake(s) will live in it. If you are looking for an affordable and attractive habitat, you will want to check out the New Age Ecoflex Mojave! I literally think it’s more attractive than the fancy and expensive stack-able cage my BP lives in!.
A complete gecko diet designed to fulfill the unique requirements of reproductive crested geckos. The main source of fat and protein in this food is from Insects (crickets and black soldier fly larvae) while still remaining palatable and well liked by almost all geckos.
The fruits used are a delicious blend of Bananas and Apricots that creates a feeding response similar to our other formulas. The higher fat levels help keep egg production strong throughout the breeding season.
The calcium level is near the maximum level for a complete diet. It is safe and sometimes necessary to add a little plain calcium to the food if your females are becoming depleted. Alternatively, you can offer plain calcium in a dish for your females to lick from as needed.
To get the most out of this diet, fresh food should be offered at least every other day during the breeding season even though there will be some waste.
To start. I have a crested gecko, a day gecko, a gargoyle gecko, fish scale geckos, mourning geckos, and a leopard gecko. I try to offer a variety of foods. waxworms, mealies, hornworms if I can get them small enough, occasionally crickets, Repashy foods.
I have used other Pangea products in different flavors, but I feel like this is the one that really made a difference. I notice that the food is really eaten and not just licked a little. I have some animals that I would like at a heavier weight.
This diet is great! I felt my crested gecko was a bit stunted in growth. I was feeding him watermelon and papaya Pangea with the occasional crickets. I wasn’t prepared to breed crickets or constantly go buy them so this is a great way to get him some insects.
Have already noticed growth! Now live crickets can serve as a treat and enrichment for his hunting. Highly recommend!.
Both of my crested geckos stopped eating very much of their previous food, them one stopped all together! And she constantly lays eggs (even off season, I swear she’s secretly a chicken) so she got horribly skinny really fast.
I tried several otjer brands but she would have none of it, and the other would. try. She’s a trouper. Then I heard about this brand and even though its a bit pricey I knew I had to explore new options, plus the ingredient list was impressive.
This was the first flavour I tried, and for the first time in months they both ate a whole bowl! Banana, my egg layer, is much happier now, has a proper plump little tummy, and both have started eating it while sitting on my hand they love it so much.
Banana used to HATE being handled. This stuff helped me tame my (crazy and weirdly aggressive) gecko! So yeah, I recommend it. Gonna try out new flavours to give them variety.
The ideal carrier for various species of reptiles and amphibians. Self-locking lid with hinged viewer/feeder window. Includes carrying handle for easy transport.
This is a nice, inexpensive little box not just for reptiles, but for other things as well. I search daily for monarch caterpillar eggs and this is a great container to use until I get home. It could be improved in two ways: 1) a carrying handle would be SO nice and, 2) the top is difficult to take on and off, and when you’re out in the field, holding a magnifying glass and maybe scissors, as well as a handful of monarch caterpillar eggs, it would be nice to have a snap, or a hinge, or something to make it easier to open and close.
I decided to buy this instead of a glass tank for my reptiles, for one thing, the light weight so it’s more portable and easy to handle, and another is that the top is fairly well secured. These aren’t recommended for some species of reptile nor as a permanent home for most.
But is good for small reptiles or a starter home for juveniles. I also enjoy that I received a divider with mine so I can have 2 animals in one cage. These are also stackable which saves a lot of space but I don’t recommend stacking too many for animal’s safety.
The only downside is the main hatch or doorway if you will is not directly centered so if I have a divider in the middle I can’t reach my hand through to the one side, I have to take the whole lid off to get access.
And I can’t seem to figure out how to open the little feeding door (or hatch) without busting it. Seems like a design flaw there.
This is a very basic starter kit. It has all the stuff you basically need for a JUVENILE bearded dragon. You will need something bigger in the long run so just be prepared, and that will happen quick for a bearded.
Has mostly good stuff. Don’t like heating pads, and don’t recommend cause they can burn your animal, so that is in a closet. A little pricey, but I got 25% off. I was just feeling lazy so I got this.
I also constructed 3 new habitats this week, one which I built from cut lumber.
I received this kit for free using a classroom pet grant. I liked that the lighting fixtures came with it. I wished that instead of sand, it came with carpet. Very pricey, but equivalent to purchasing all items separately.
I most likely will not be buying again, as I will no longer need everything it came with.
Now I bought this item. NOW there are pro’s and con’s, pro’s big cage. con there’s little you really need to but much then what comes with it “well hidden”. Con the lights get to hot and melt the cage, even if you have it on appropriate.
NOW I don’t want to stir the pot just help. Perhaps they will take it off the shelf and take it off the shelf.
Zoo Med Crested Gecko Food has been extensively tested and reformulated to provide the benefits of the very latest knowledge in nutritional science. This convenient powdered meal replacement meets the dietary requirements of breeding adult and growing juvenile geckos and may be fed wet or dry.

I have a crested gecko he likes this food very much. he was skinny until o fed him this and now he may be a little overweight but at least he’s healthy! lol anyways, is very easy to mix up and it smells good.
I recommend this for people who have kids that want to be more involved in taking care of their pet gecko since the lack of mess.
This nutritionally balanced floating stick is ideal for all aquatic reptiles (e. g. turtles) and amphibians (e. g. frogs newts). It is formulated with Calcium for healthy bones and Vitamin C for a healthy immune system.
My turtle absolutely loves the Wardley Reptile Sticks! I love that it has all the vitamins and minerals he needs for a healthy diet and he loves the taste. When I bring the can near his aquarium he comes to the top to greet me and get his sticks.
He thinks of it as a treat even though it’s a nutritious meal. It has calcium and vitamin C to keep his immune system, shell, and bones strong, and it doesn’t have any dyes or artificial colors. I also like that it doesn’t cloud his water, so I don’t have to clean it as often as when we had tried other brands.
I highly recommend this brand and food to other pet parents!.
I got to sample this for my opinion. TeTe is very picky when it comes to eating. She would eat at the most 4 pieces. She prefers bugs more. I was surprised that she did eat the food since I have a hard time getting enough vegetables in her diet.
I liked the can in that it is recyclable and not wasteful like a plastic bag. The lid makes it easy to seal so that if it falls over , does not make a mess. The can was a little bit small in size but I would buy this a couple times a year to help supplement her diet.
The Wardley Reptile Sticks are excellent quality. When I feed my turtles, I notice how much they enjoy this food. I totally recommend this food as my go to for my turtles.
Stackable breeding terrarium Exo Terra’s Breeding Box Incubator is a breeding terrarium made of transparent plastic that is suitable for transporting terrarium animals or storing live food. The stackable breeding terrarium is also ideal for displaying reptiles and other small animals.
The breeding box includes a number of practical features. In addition to a large door on the lid, it also features an opening on the side through which food or water can be easily placed even when they are stacked.
This ensures that the animals do not have to be moved for feeding and do not experience unnecessary stress. Ventilation holes are also located on the sides which keep the terrariums continuously supplied with fresh air.
Really pleased with the Exo Terra breeding boxes supplied in super quick time. Great to have the additional feeding doors. Can recommend for juvenile tarantulas. Look attractive, easy to clean and stack.
I use these in all 3 sizes for my tarantulas, depending how big they are. Perfect! Easy access, portable but stack securely without taking up too much space. I have almost 30 of these.
A complete vitamin and mineral complex that helps correct stress-related and calcium-deficient problems in captive reptiles. Calcium-based to ensure healthy bone growth and help prevent rickets. Also protects metabolic functions, helps in skin shedding and aids in preventing liver problems.
Correct 2:1 calcium to phosphorus ratio. Reptivite is the only reptile vitamin with all 16 isolated amino acids. This helps greatly with protein digestion in your captive reptiles, and is especially important for snakes.
No artificial additives. All human-grade vitamins and minerals used with no added fillers like soy, yeast or sucrose (sugar), which means that you can add Reptivite to your reptiles diet less often.
Leopard geckos are 100% insectivores. They therefore do not process the necessary enzyme to convert beta carotene/provitamin a into vitamin a, therefore this is a great supplement for them. Just note that it does have calcium as well, so you don’t add another calcium supplement to this because oversupplementing can cause problems.
Also, best would be to get them a proper UVB light, because contrary to popular belief, they DO need UVB. And I’m sorry, but to the reviewer below, who said it came too late for her beardie and it died: I’m sorry you lost your animal, but you need to supplement them from the start! Your animal probably had MBD (metabolic bone disease) or some other problem due to not receiving the proper nutrition, once that takes hold it is most oftentimes irreversible (MBD is, other things may be fixable).
It isn’t fair to leave a good product a bad review because it didn’t ship as fast as you liked. Even if you had gotten it next day, it wouldn’t have been able to reverse your beardie not getting the necessary vitamins and minerals this entire time.
The most crucial part of owning reptiles is practicing proper husbandry and at risk of sounding harsh, but lack thereof is a too widespread problem when it comes to reptile owners. This is a great product and like I mentioned, in the specific case of leopard geckos, they need actual vitamin a, not provitamin a.
Please make sure to give only the correct doses so as to not cause toxicity. Source for this is “Leopard Gecko Diseases and Care” Thomas H. Boyer, DVM If anybody wants to look into it for themselves.
There is a lot to owning reptiles and they depend on us to do the proper research BEFORE we get them.
Keeping for our next reptile we will be getting soon. This was not for my bearded dragon as it contains vitamin A which is not something they can have a lot of.
Quality is great. I received my item so I turned it around to check expiration date but it was all erased so I couldn’t make it there date. My previous one was expired and that’s why I ordered again.
Excellent for Green Iguanas (up to 3 feet in size), Water Dragons, large Old World Chameleons, Bearded Dragons, and many other large sized species of lizards. PVC (plastic) Coated wire to help prevent nose rubbing.
Front and top opening doors for easy animal access. Removable bottom tray for easy cleaning 4 casters (wheels) to move cage outside for natural filtered sunlight. Removable “basking” shelf included.
This enclosure is best suited for arboreal geckos and small lizards definitely not for iguanas, tegus or even chameleons since they grow large and will have a weight your vines or braches won’t be able to support.
Again this will do great for small species such as cresties, day geckos, gargoyles and similar. Keep in mind screened enclosures don’t hold humidity and most of these reptile most of these reptiles need high humidity so you will need a misting system to mist at least three times a day or close the back and sides with a barrier such as waterproof cardboard.
This product is not suitable as a full-time terrarium for any desert species. Way too small. Please keep in mind that bearded dragons need upwards of 100 degrees F for a basking spot, and this just doesnt do it.
They are not arboreal and dont need space to climb upwards. Also not suitable for snakes. most species need at least three walls blacked out to feel safe.
The IguanArium is a great size, and is built durable. Very easy to assemble. My Hatchling looks lost in it, but seems very happy. Lots of room to roam around. When allowed to roam the house she makes her way back to the cage.
Humidity was a problem at first, but we purchased a warm mist humidifier which we placed inside the cage, under the basking shelf. It’s not ideal, but gives off 50% humidity. Can’t wait to take this outside, when the weather is warm enough.
This Juvenile Iguana Food will give your pet the tasty meal it needs for a long and healthy life. It is filled with vitamins and minerals that will keep them growing and strong. It has been veterinarian formulated and tested, ensuring a quality that you can be confident in. The food comes in a handy 14. 5 oz size, offering plenty to keep your pet energized for quite awhile. The bottle has a simple twist off lid so you can dispense smoothly.
Let this special diet keep your reptile at its peak for a long time.
I have had my desert tortoise for approximately four years now and couldn’t find a food that he liked or would eat. I finally came across this and it’s amazing. I do have to wet it so it’s softer for him but he eats it until it’s gone.
He leaves all the fruits and veggies aside until he’s finished this tortoise food and then he’ll munch on the other stuff. It is a great food. And an additional plus is that we have actually seen him growing.
i recently decided to purchase this food because i found out it is one of THE most recommended foods for my aquatic turtles. i have 2 yellow bellied sliders, and i have been feeding them zoo med and mazuri (as well as hikari wheat germ, daily veggies) and decided to add this to the mix as well! i like to mix all three for their recommended food and they eat it so im satisfied! since it’s the most recommended i’ve seen, i feel confident with them eating it.
i do think it benefits them as well, if anything it adds variety!.
I love the simplicity and effectiveness of this type of product. I’ve yet to use it with my bearded, Ive got two of them, but I’ve used similar products in the past and they are so worth it! Sometimes I just don’t have the time to buy crickets and feed them to my beardies and Maybe they’re not hungry at the moment but will be soon after I have left the house.
This product provides a nutritious meal for my beardies when I’m in a pinch! They have thoroughly enjoyed the previous food similar to this I have fed them and I have no doubt the colorful, enticing formula will do the same! :).
REPTIZOO This terrarium reptile glass terrarium help provide your reptile or amphibian with a durable and comfortable environment to live in. The front opening doors allow easy access for maintenance and feeding.
A specially designed lock will prevent escape and the doors can be opened separately. The full-screen top ventilation allows UVB and infrared penetration and is completely removable for easy access while decorating or cleaning.
In the right are some closable wire or tube inlets on both sides to install heatwave rocks, waterfalls, sensors, etc. inside the terrarium. The bottom plate of the terrarium is raised to mount a substrate heater to heat a part of the extended ground surface.
The extra high fixed front window is ideal for thick layers of substrates (burrowing reptiles), aquatic parts (paludarium) or to mount reptile den. The natural background is in the same colour as all other decoration items (Water Dishes, Waterfalls, Heat Wave Rocks, etc.
This is a fantastic piece for all sorts of reptiles. It does come with both glass and mesh for the sides that are interchangeable with one another in the new knockout glass series. The bottom is watertight making cleanup a breeze.
The Tropical Vertical Kit is a tall reptile cage specifically designed for arboreal animals that live in trees – the ideal environment for small tropical reptiles and amphibians such as tree frogs, crested geckos and more.
The bottom of the terrarium is also capable of holding water and the textured, background decor piece, substrate and feeding dish are included. The Mini Halogen Dome with light bulb, also inside, is the perfect compact size for this vertical reptile terrarium as it provides pinpointed light and heat and is more efficient than a standard incandescent light bulb.
To help keep your critter safe and secure, the front door of the reptile tank has a locking latch and locking pin for added security. The top is also hinged, providing access from both the front and top.
The Humidity/Temperature Gauge allows for a quick and easy read on the environment parameters to ensure they are at the right levels.
I know there are a lot of bad reviews for this, but I have not have any bad experiences with this tank and I’ve had it for a few weeks now. All of the pieces were included, it was easy to assemble, and there was nothing broken.
I actually didn’t realize when I ordered it that it also came with some coco substrate, a dish, halogen bulb, and a lamp, which I think makes this a pretty good deal for a starter kit. I have 2 female adolescent crested geckos in here, which I got from my local Petco and were housed together there, eventually I’m going to purchase another one of these to separate them.
But overall, this is a really great value and good quality!.
Great starter kit for my daughter and her first experience with reptiles. In saying that, a few extra things are needed i. e. slightly stronger heat emitter (the lamp included is good for warm days, but not cold nights), plants, and a couple things to climb.
Overall, though, great starter setup for the price.
I have purchased a total of 12 of these tanks in the past 8 months for my crested geckos. I create bio-active tanks with live plants, spider wood and cork round hides. The door on this tank is higher than other brands, which gives you more space for the substrate and drainage layers.
The tank is of very good quality and has two locking mechanisms on the door for added safety. The screen top has two seperate openings, one for taking items in and out of the top and a smaller one to allow access for wires or accessories.
I would definitely recommend this tank for its quality, size and price.
Zoo Med Desert White ReptiSand is a natural, beautiful terrarium bedding that meets the needs of a wide variety of desert-dwelling reptiles, amphibians and arachnids. The brilliant white color of this pure, fine quartz sand is completely natural, with no additives.
Pure, finely ground quartz desert sand Stimulates natural digging & burrowing behavior All natural sand with no added colors When in your pet’s habitat, ReptiSand simulates the native environment and encourages digging, burrowing, and other natural behaviors for your pet’s health and your enjoyment.
An excellent heat conductor for your pet’s comfort, ReptiSand is an ideal egg-laying medium for many reptiles (mix 50/50 with Zoo Med’s Eco Earth). It is long lasting, all natural, and easy to clean.
ReptiSand is finely ground to prevent impaction if consumed. Ideal for: Bearded Dragons, Leopard Geckos, Soft Shell Turtles, Uromastyx Lizards, Sand Boas, Collard Lizards, Tarantulas, Scorpions, and other terrestrial desert reptile species.
This is great sand, it is very fine and soft. I am using it for my hamster bath and if you have a hamster you know that they often choose their bath as a urinal which, with sand can start to stink fast.
This sand is the only I’ve found that doesn’t smell fast, I think it is because it is so fine that the urine is trapped in it. With the urine it clumps so that when it is cleaning time I can sift out the urine area and the rest is still dry and loose.
Only downfall is it sticks easily to his feet and ends up all over the place, but small price to pay, I will definitely keep buying this type of sand.
IF YOU HAVE A HAMSTER, THIS IS THE PERFECT SAND FOR THEIR SAND BATH! When I first did my research there were so many types of sand, but this one is natural (still a bit dusty) but the least out of all of the other brands.
My hamster loves when I clean her sand or give her brand new sand. I mainly get my stock from Amazon! It’s hard to find it in my area so you can buy a 10lb bag or 2 10lb bags! Highly recommend!.
I have tried looking all over for safe sand for my hamsters, luckily this product is 100% safe to use for my hamsters! Also, this has no calcium in it which can harm them, and is not like bath dust at all.
My hammys love rolling around in it and playing and cleansing themselves in it. Not to mention it stays cool so if they get hot they like to lay in it! 🙂 100% recommended!.
The preferred snake bedding by professional herpetoculturists worldwide. Provides a safe hypoallergenic naturalistic substrate that allows snakes lizards and small animals to form burrows and nests as they would in the wild.
191% absorbency. Odorless. Easy to clean. 99. 9% dust free. No toxic oils. Made from renewable resources. Can also be used for birds lizards tortoises turtles tarantulas and insects. Available in 4 or 8 dry quarts package.
I love Zoo Med’s Aspen Snake Bedding! My four corn snakes seem to love it as well. They enjoy burrowing and hiding in it. I love that people are surprised that I have reptiles and they don’t notice a smell.
Clean up is so easy with this snake aspen. I recently had three 24qt bags and still bought three more, of the same size, while they are on sale. I now have a good back up supply for my two 40g, one 20g and the 10g enclosures.
I have tried other brands in the past but this last year found this and Chewy’s deals and am happy to benefit, as well as my snakes 🙂 For those wondering about the amount to use for your enclosure. It is up to you and your individual snakes.
I personally like to provide at least two inches thick layers of substrate. I also provide two water dishes per enclosure, several hides and a lot of fake greens, but their very favorite seems to be the hammocks and bridges.
Help your slithering superstars remove their dry sheds with Repti Shedding Aid. This product conditions your reptiles’ skin creating a visible sheen, and helps to keep the skin moist and pliable. It’s almost like a day at the spa for your creeping critters.
This spray bottle solution is long lasting, and works even between sheds. Keep your reptiles silky smooth with ZooMed’s Repti Shedding Aid.
This really helped me get skin off that was stick on my leopard geckos feet & toes. It wasn’t feeling well & had a horrible shed. I tried soaking it in warm water to know avail. Trying to get it off was stressing it more.
As soon as I got this spray I sprayed it on her feet. Waited a few minutes & was able to rub the skin & pull it right off. Thankfully before she lost a toe! This product is amazing!.
Purchased spray to help shedding process as my corn snake didn’t shed so well. Zoo Med Reptile shedding aid has really helped. Applied after her shed to remove a piece from her head which was stuck due to a recent scar.
She had previously burnt the top of her head having got caught under heat mat (Hear mat issue has now been fixed). The spray is helping with healing process also. It contains Vit E with moisturising properties so just what she needed.
The Exo Terra canned foods are a convenient way to feed insects. These insects (and snails) have been cooked in the can to maintain nutritional value, flavour and aroma. It also softens the exoskeleton of the insects for easier digestion and breaks the bonds between the collagen protein to make it absorbable by reptiles.
Collagen is an important fibre that aids in building bone, cartilage, skin and claw structures. The canned insects have the same nutritional value as live insects but are easier to digest. No live insects need to be fed in addition to these canned foods.
The steel screen top includes screen support bars and wire grommets to give you the flexibility to install your lighting fixtures inside or outside the enclosure. 4’x2’x2’ – 120 gallon equivalent Front sliding / removable acrylic doors for easy access Galvanized steel screen with support bars for security and multiple lighting options Substrate Shield included (but optional) for those with loose substrate Humidity levels below 50% for dessert setups Not suitable for UTH (Under Tank Heating) Non-reflective surfaces reduce anxiety.
Bamboo finished wood panels retain heat better than glass. Lightweight – Only 48 lbs. fully assembled. Easy to assemble – No tools required, but a rubber mallet sometimes helps. Ideal for: Bearded Dragons Ball Pythons Boa Constrictors Blue-Tongue Skinks Box Turtles Many other lizards, snakes and turtles that thrive in lower humidity environments (such as a hognose snake, king snake, uromastyx, and more).
I really like these tanks, but not quite loving them. They are very nice in size and visual appeal. Easy to put together, but can be just as easily messed up. I bought two tanks, one went together with no problem.
The second one, the top was not wanting to stay put. It kept constantly popping up from two corners. No matter how hard we pushed it down, it always kept popping back up in both corners. The substrate guard does not like to stay in place -my male ball python likes to crawl across it at night, and always knocks it over, so I have to pop it back up again every morning- but for bearded dragons or smaller type snakes, it wouldn’t be much of a hassle.
Both of the glue bottles for the door guards, where completely cemented over and unusable. The door locks are really neat, but I would recommend finding something different if you have a smaller snake like a corn.
The lock wire is very thin, easily broken, and it will let the doors be cracked open on either side that is big enough for a small snake -like a corn- or gecko to squeeze through.
Frisco Reptile Terrariums; This humble reptile abode is made with top-notch industry standards in mind, because only the best will do for your scaly companions. They may be cold-blooded, but that doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate the finer things in, er, terrariums.
The modern, clear design features diamond-polished edges which gives it that pro look along with the built-in safety of no sharp edges, and commercial grade, black silicone sealant. It looks great at home or in the office, and it’s made with high-grade quality materials so you can feel good about your buddies moving right in, once it’s ready.
So I had ordered this tank for my 2 hermit crabs to have more room. I’m lazy and didn’t bother figuring out the actual size of this before ordering. It is so tiny and in my opinion I don’t think you could keep any kind of animal in here unless it was a tiny gold fish.
I rated 5 stars because stars are supposed to be about the QUALITY of the product. I opened the box and checked out the tank but didn’t attempt to use it. However, upon inspecting it it seemed of sound quality like the ones you’d get in person at a pet store.
Just disappointed that my cheapy plastic carrier for the crabs is bigger than this tank. TLDR: do not recommend for any animals other than tiny fish. If you are looking for this tiny size then I’d highly recommend this tank!.
#ReceivedFreeProduct My daughter has been begging to get a little lizard but I had no clue what I would put it in! This was perfect timing. The terrarium is small but big enough to fit a little lizard or gecko.
While we have looked at our options she has not decided on one yet but we are excited to set it up soon!.
#ReceivedFreeProduct This terrarium is great for a beginner animal. It’s best for a small lizard or gecko or something that won’t get to big to fast. The terrarium itself is lightweight. The top is mesh light so the animal has better air flow.

Introduce the male and female reptiles to each other.
When two reptiles of different genders wish to breed, they must first be properly introduced to one another. The male and female must be placed in the same enclosure, and allowed to get to know one another.
Once they have become accustomed to one another, the female will usually allow the male to mount her and mate. After the two have mated, the female will lay her eggs and the male will fertilize them.
The eggs will then incubate for a period of time before hatching.
Allow the reptiles to mate and produce offspring.
Yes, you can allow reptiles to mate and produce offspring for reptile breeding for profit. However, you will need to be sure to care for the newborn reptiles properly, as they will be very delicate. You will also need to find buyers for the reptiles, as they will not be able to sell themselves.
Sell the offspring to make a profit.
There are a few things to consider when selling offspring of reptiles bred for profit. The first is what kind of reptiles are being sold. Some reptiles are more popular and in demand than others, meaning they will fetch a higher price.
The second is how many offspring are being sold. A higher quantity can mean a lower price per reptile, but also a higher overall profit. Finally, it is important to consider the costs of breeding the reptiles in the first place.
This includes the cost of food, housing, and any medical care that may be required. If the costs of breeding are high, it will eat into any profits made from selling the offspring.
