A picture hanger for plaster walls is a small metal or plastic hook that is inserted into a small hole drilled into the wall. The hook then supports the weight of the picture frame.
Introducing the new 3M CLAW Drywall Picture Hanger! Trust your heavyweight hanging projects to the 3M CLAW Drywall Picture Hanger proven to hold up to 15, 25 and 45 pounds. The engineered hardened steel claws lock securely into drywall anywhere – just push, hang and youre done.
i had a picture that I wanted to hang just sitting in my closet because it was too heavy for traditional picture hangers to handle. It was one of those “I’ll get around to it someday” projects. Thankfully I received a 3M CLAW Drywall Picture hanger to try!! This hanger is amazing!! First, you don’t need any tools-you just push the hanger into your drywall and the steel claws lock into the drywall and it stays! And this hanger is strong-it will hold up to 65 pounds.
My picture was at least 40 pounds, and it is hanging perfectly on my wall now. I would highly recommend this picture hanger for all of your heavy (65 pounds or less) pictures, mirrors or artwork. I received a sample of this product for free in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is a big time and frustration saver! As a husband with a wife who enjoys decorating, I am frequently called upon to help hang decorations up. After my usual moan, I am off to the garage to find a nail(s), hammer, stud finder, level and pencil.
Not anymore! I did not need any tools to hang our newest picture on the wall. I was able to put the Claw on the back of the picture frame and held it up for my wife to tell me where she wanted it. After she gave me the green light, I gently gave a little push on the frame with the Claw on it into the wall.
This left tiny marks on the wall so I knew where it was going to go. After that it was simply taking the Claw, lining up the previous indentations and pushing it in with my thumbs. Hung the picture and I was done! 3M gave us a free sample of this product to evaluate.
I received this product for free from 3M to evaluate. Here is my review: Hanging pictures on drywall has always been a challenge especially anything that has some weight to it. We’ve tried using nails, wires, etc.
and oftentimes they aren’t strong enough to hold our pictures up without using multiple devices. And even then it’s often difficult to get all those pieces lined up so one’s picture isn’t crooked. The 3M CLAW Drywall Picture Hanger is an amazing solution to these challenges.
It can hold a ton of weight (up to 65 pounds!) and is really easy to line up and install (just us eh included spot marker and push it into the drywall). Really couldn’t be easier and more secure. Now we don’t have to worry about a picture crashing down to the floor.
High & Mighty picture hangers are easy to install in DRYWALL without a single tool. Simply place, push, and hang. With just your thumbs, you can quickly go from inspiration to installation. Removing or replacing picture hangers is easily done with a flathead screwdriver or similar tool.
I received this 60lb wall hanger for free in exchange for my honest review and opinion. When I first received the hanger, I thought it was very tiny and didn’t quite believe that something so small can uphold 60lb of weight.
But to my surprise, I sure can’t judge a book by its cover! Wasn’t sure how to apply the hanger at first glance because I never seen such a shape, but installation turned out to be easy. But strength is definitely need to push the grips into the drywalls.
Removing is easy as well with minimal damage to the wall. Been hanging my children’s portrait with heavy frames without any problems. Overall great product because I don’t have to hammer nails on the wall which I am horrible at.
Quality is definitely made of durable material as well.
The High & Mighty wall hanger is of really great quality. The hanger really works great for hanging up pictures, mirrors or other objects. This wall hanger could hold up an object up to 60 pounds. The hanger is very easy to install without even using any tools! You just have to place it against the drywall and push the hanger with the sharp points into the drywall.
Very easy and the hanger is sturdy and stays in place. I used it for a heavy mirror and it hangs straight and sturdy. When I want to remove the mirror the hanger is easy to remove and only will leave some small holes in the wall.
I would really recommend this wall hanger when you want to save your walls from being damaged.
I received this product at the perfect time. I had just gotten a beautiful wooden sign to hang on a bare wall in my living room. Usually my husband would deal with the hammer and nails, but I decided to give these 20lb wall hangers a try while he was at work.
I must say, at first I struggled a bit to get these pushed in and angled properly, but once I got the hang of it with the first one, the second one was much easier. I was concerned how these hangers would stay in the wall, but surprisingly they have held up perfectly.
These hangers say they will hold up to 20lbs, and while I haven’t put that to the test, my beautiful sign is a good 10lbs and it’s holding up great! I will totally be purchasing more of these as I am in the process of repainting and redesigning my master bedroom.
High & Mighty wall hanging hooks are the easiest and strongest way to decorate and organize. Install them into drywall in seconds with only your thumbs. Their unique design means the hanger is never visible once your piece is hung.
20 lb 8 Piece Made from solid steel for a stronger hold Quickly install into drywall with only your thumbs Assortment. Features: 20 lb 8 Piece.
Used this to hang the wood barrel frame mirror Target sells. The mirror isn’t light yet this hanger seems to handle the weight well. Granted the mirror’s specifications say it weighs 8lbs but it feels heavier, so I was skeptical about how this would do.
I do agree with the previous reviewer about needing a hammer to get it all the way into the wall. The kit’s description states it has (4) 40lb hangers and (4) 20 lb ones, but it actually has (3) 40 lb and (5) 20 lb ones.
Found these at the At Home store. The brand name and tagline is what got my attention (heh. ), they looked very sturdy and figured I’d give them a shot. Couldn’t be happier. They do require a bit of force to stick them intro dry wall, however (maybe even a light tap of a hammer).
But overall I’m very happy with them. Sure beats using push pins for frames hangers :-D.
These wall hangers are easy to install without a single tool – simply place, push, and hang. With just your thumbs, you can quickly go from inspiration to installation. The hangers come in a variety of weights so there’s a solution for anything you want to hang, no matter how big.
Pictures, mirrors, wall d cor, or even a gallery wall go up in seconds – and removing or replacing High & Mighty is easily done with a flathead screwdriver or something similar.
We just moved into a house with perfect walls and have piles of things we want to decorate with. Scariest thing to hang a heavy clock. The regulator clock is on the wall, next to the front door, and is solid.
These are very useful and handy hooks. I found they penetrated the dry-wall easily with no need for special tools, and the hole they make is much smaller than the hole made by the nail. They are easily removed with a pair of pliers if you change your mind.
I can’t see a reason to use nails and hammer again. Thank you.
Hanging pictures has never been this easy. Command Adhesive Picture Hangers will hold frames of up to five pounds and are specially designed for use with sawtooth (shown) or wire-backed hardware. Just adhere the Picture Hanger to any surface – painted or wood – wait an hour and hang your picture.

I have used a variety of 3M picture hooks for years & never encountered a problem. until recently. I have dozens of frames up in my house supported by 3M picture hooks-some more expensive than others.
I always follow the hanging instructions: -Make sure painted wall is in good/clean condition -Ensure frame is within weight limit -Wipe wall with rubbing alcohol-wait until completely dry before installing -Press firmly for a minimum of 30 secs on each strip -Wait at least an hour before hanging frame (I always wait overnight – I’m over cautious) Unfortunately five frames (in various parts of the house) have now fallen/broken.
The adhesive remains on the wall, however the problem is that the plastic clip is coming away from the adhesive. I have tried brand new adhesive strips as well as older (unused) adhesive strips and the issue occurs sporadically, regardless of the age of the adhesive strips.
Instead of venting on SM and reviews I emailed 3M directly to discus & was informed that the product wasn’t faulty & they would not replace my broken frames. After 3M reviewed my photographic evidence and spoke to me, the only thing I could have done was wipe the BACK of the plastic clip with rubbing alcohol also.
Ironically their instructions don’t include this-they say to wipe the wall surface. Upon reading the package I see that 3M have a “Limitation of Liability” where they state…3M will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from their products, whether direct, indirect, special, incidental of consequential.
” This leaves me no option but to warn other potential customers of my experience. My issue is with 3M, not the retailer of the product.
Picture hook. Very good discreet picture or mirror holder. I used mine to fix a mirror to the back of a door (for doing my hair) that I did not want to mark permanently by making a hole in it. It is excellent value and has done the job of holding the item in place.
Its best to use picture wire on the mirror/picture as I did as string is to thick for the grove. it holds the mirror flat as the hook doesnt protrude very much at all which is good as your picture/mirror isnt tilted.
The mirror was 4lb just 1lb under the weight the instructions said the hook would hold so not a completely light mirror and I feel quite happy with the strength and holding power of the hook. Would recommend the picture hanging hook which can be removed from your wall or door in my case and leave absolutely no marks(I havent removed the hook myself yet but have been told by friends it does remove easily and mark free).
I like that this pack comes with three hooks and 6 backs so that you can move the hooks if needed. The backs are able to be removed cleanly without messing up walls. I dislike that these hooks are supposed to hold up to 5lbs, but I do not feel like they are strong enough for 5 lbs.
Take the fuss out of hanging wire suspended frames with Command Wire Backed Picture Hangers. Our hangers hold strongly to a variety of surfaces including solid, hollow and painted walls. If you need a change, the hangers can be easily removed without damaging the surface underneath â no cracks, holes, damaged plaster, sticky residue or stains.
Replacement adhesive strips are available, so you can use your Command Picture Hangers again and again.
We used these strips to have a certificate frame (A4) and a small frame (A5) in 2019 when we moved into our new home. They were fine until a couple of weeks ago when one fell off the wall and then a week later the other one fell as well, both times unfortunately smashing the glass in the frames.
Our house is not particularly humid but it seems that with the hot weather lately something has changed and the adhesion on the strips can no longer be guaranteed to hold frame on painted surfaces. I have always been an avid supporter of using these strips for picture hanging but I can’t take the risk in the future of repeat damage to glass frames so I won’t be buying them anymore.
I’ve been trying to hang wrapped canvas with these as well as the hangers for sawtooth hooks. The pictures are far below the weight capacity but will not stay on the wall even though I followed instructions to the letter.
Very frustrating. I finally called Command and was told even though they are far under the weight shown, the canvases are too large and the hooks will not work. This should be made much more clear on the packaging.
I wonder how many people have wasted money the same way I did.
OK, so as a collector of fine memorabilia, let’s say movie posters. I need to frame those bad boys, because some I own are worth more than the clothes on my back — it’s true really. Anyway, I didn’t want to put holes in my wall with those damn nails.
I picked up the 8lb saw-tooth hangers from the wal-mart store; you can find anything there, it’s weird. So I pick these bad boys up, and decided to do the impossible. I was going to use it. I had this giant stupid poster that’s 41×81, which if you can figure out the bigness of that in your head — it’s pretty damn big.
It takes up an entire wall, really — that’s huge. The poster sits nestled in a large frame of course, and the frame is some what heavy, but hang able. I took two of these 8lb command saw-tooth hooks, placed them on the wall for 20 minutes.
Then, I took that giant poster frame, and I stuck it against the two, balancing it out on both sides. The package told you not to, but that package can kiss my grits because guess what? For over 4 months now, that bad boy hasn’t fallen off the wall.
Why? I have no idea, I guess it’s my luck. But I recommend these because I even use ONE (properly probably) for one, smaller frame. Give it a try, and tell wal-mart Richy sent you.

This picture holder was recommended by an art department employee at Michaels. It worked so well we went back and bought a whole box of them. They can handle a good deal of weight and are easy to install.
It is rated at 100 pounds but the fine print says only if on a stud. On drywall it will hold less. I used it to hang my 40 year old German clock and it works well, seeing that the clock weighs between 20 and 30 pounds.
Best hanger ever purchased for a heavy item. I was amazed at how secure it felt on the wall. I would only buy these in future for heavy pics or mirrors. Definitely worth paying a bit extra.

I received the 3M Claw Drywall Picture Hanger 15lb With Spot Marker Hanger to test for an honest review. With this hook you won’t need a hammer or anything to tap it in you just simply push it in. We do have some rough spots in our walls which with normal hooks I tend to find it hard to get them to go into the wall or stay in the spaces I need them to make my area look beautiful but I did find this hook to go in with ease with a simple 2 finger push.
I was hanging 8X10 frames that range in weight of 2 to 4 lbs so I was under the 15lb maximum for this hook. I like that when you hang the photo on it that you cannot see any part of the hook so that was a huge bonus because a few I had already hung depending on what direction you stand you can see some of the hook so I really like this feature.
The only reason I am giving this a 3 star rating is because within 3 days of hanging this hook on the wall the hook did release from the wall and the frame dropped. I thought it broke the frame or whatever was below it but in fact it was just the hook that made the noise when it fell.
The wall the frames are on is up against the bathroom where the shower would be on the opposite side and the night it fell whoever was taking their shower had bumped the wall but not sure if that caused it to fall or not because this should have been secure and it was the only one to fall.
I am going to retry it on a wall that is not up against where someone could possibly bump into it so I will update this review once I try it again on the opposite side because I truly Love the ease of putting it in and the no show look.
Until I try it again I could not recommend this hook to friends or family because it could drop their frames also.

These are great in theory, except that the little sticky markers that you stick to what you’re hanging and then they’re supposed to stick to the wall…well, they don’t stick to whatever it is you are hanging, so they’re pretty much useless.
Luckily I’ve hung numerous things and was able to measure using a tape measure, mark, and also use a leveler to figure out spacing. Still, it was a lot more time/effort to do it that way then it would have been had those markers actually been able to be used.
I feel like these should be half the price they are, because they’re just a little piece of metal, with some sticky foam that may or may not stick. Still debating on whether or not to purchase these again, as I’m setting up new house and have lots to hang.
I guess they do actually do better on the drywall than having to drill into a stud, and the end result when taking them down is a lot less mess with patching/covering holes than drilling/anchoring would require.
So maybe I’ll change it from one star to two based on that only.
I bought 1 pack to try out. Showed them to my husband. He laughed. Lol I convinced him to try one. Guess what? Heading back tomorrow for more. Great product for hanging pictures. Haven’t tried anything real heavy yet.
Studio Decor’s 35 lb. Twist in Hook snapped at the wall after holding our <20 lb. framed print for 10 minutes. I had hung the print according to directions, and left the room when I heard the crash and found our print and the tip of Twist in Hook among the broken glass on the floor.

I love this product! As a previous long-term renter and now first-time owner… hanging pictures is part of making your place a home. I had been using 3M Command sticky picture hanging strips for ages but the 3M claw hooks are a game-changer! I love the ease of this product! It’s genius! My only regret is that I didn’t find this item sooner.
I will be recommending it to my friends. Congratulations 3M :).

Finally my favorite picture hangers in one package at a great price 🙂 These have been my go to art and picture hangers because the hardened nails can be cleanly removed from my dry walls with the faintest holes left behind.
These awesome hooks are proven dependably to hold your wall decors as heavy as 50 pounds without the constant worries of finding your heavy pictures/steel wall art on the floor. Simply the best picture holders in the hardware market.
This is the only brand that I use. Hardened steel pins easily penetrate any wall. And they leave very small holes. In 25 years, I have never had one fail.

At first I wasn’t sure about this little hanger holding up in the drywall. But, I can honestly say that I am pleasantly surprised. I have had a large framed photo hanging on the wall for a while now, and it does not budge.
These hooks are great for when you want to hang something on the wall, but there isn’t a stud to nail into. And when you decide to change things up, they leave only three little holes in the wall that can be easily patched up.
I will definitely be buying more of these for my home!.

The BEST frame hangers and nails. The ball at the end keeps the latch in place if using solo on a notched latch. If used with the hook, it keeps your hanging wire securely in place.
Love these hangers. They are so easy to use and also easy to remove from wall if you have to move your picture. Also, they only leave a very small hole when they are removed.

I bought these when they first came out and the price was reasonable. Now they cost way too much. That’s a shame. These hangers work great on items that will hang straight down the wall. In other words, I would not use this to hang anything that might want to pull away from the wall as the hanger could or likely would pull out (in my opinion).

Works as expected. First time I’ve hung anything using nails versus command strips on a dry wall by myself before. It was pretty easy. Nails and hook seem pretty sturdy and are holding up my huge diploma frame.
These hangers are great–they are easy to use and they are very strong so you can hang almost any size picture. They well tell you how much weight they can hold which is quite convenient. I am using these kinds of hangers all the time for pictures, calendars and whatever else i want to hang on my walls.
