20 Best Mattress Topper For Sofa Beds (2023 Updated)

The quality of the pad is very nice, it is soft and well made. The padding gives nice cushioning. But it is supposed to fit mattresses up to 8 inches deep. I have a 4 inch mattress and a 2 inch topper for a total of 6 inches.

It not only does not cover the sides of the mattress but if stretched to go over the corners it lifts the corners of the mattress up. The sides of the cover are a bit stretchy, but even stretched, they only measure 6 inches deep.

What a disappointment! And I can only imagine what would happen after a laundering! The pad part needs to be at least 3 or 4 inches longer and wider, and the sides a good 4 inches deeper. I expected more of Target.

Guess I won’t make that mistake again. Since I have not slept on it I cannot say if it is comfortable, but it looks like it would be. And of course have not washed it, so do not know how that would go.

This pad covered my queen-sized sofa bed mattress and doesn’t slip off when I fold it up back into the sofa. It was very snug but I like it that way. It doesn’t crinkle when slept on. My 15 yr. old granddaughter slept well on it.

But teenagers can sleep on and through most anything. But she had no complaints about it.

As a single mom and teacher, I am very busy; but, when I have a free weekend I often invite some of my family to come for a visit. When my family comes they know that they will be sleeping on my living room sofa bed and it was recently brought to my attention that there is a slight sag in the middle of the bed and while it is still soft, the saggy spot did not offer enough support for anyone to thoroughly enjoy a full night’s sleep.

After some online research, I chose Madison Park Essentials Frisco Microfiber Sofa Bed Mattress Pad. It is a WATERPROOF, slip-resistant, machine washable, removable cover that is breathable and soft but its just a tad to thin for me!.

I received the Frisco Ultra-soft Microfiber Sofabed Pad from the Try It Community. At first it didn’t look all that muchit was really thin. However after putting it on the bed and letting it sit for awhile, I later down on it.

It actually made the bed softer than before. The pad that was on it made it a little uncomfortable. With the pad on, it felt so much better. You could actually sleep on it without hurting.

I bought this Frisco Ultra Soft Waterproof Sofa Bed Mattress Pad as I wanted something extra to out on my sofa bed, as I must admit I do sleep on at times. You know, get too tired from work to make it all the way upstairs.

And I must say I am happy that I got this. It is soft, but not too soft. It is truly comfortable and it is indeed waterproof. Thank you for. making my sleeping experience so much better.

I did not get to choose the mattress I am sleeping on now. I like soft beds and this one is very firm. I wake up with back pain every morning. I got this mattress pad hopping it would soften up the bed, but not really believing it would make that much of a difference.

It made a big difference! I sleep so much better and wake up with less back pain ( I’m old. There will always be some pain). I sleep so much better now. I was surprised how much of a difference this made.

This is the worst. Bought it for my travel trailer camper mattress that is hard as a rock. Laid this topper out for 3 days and was still the exact same as sleeping straight on the mattress. Instructions said it will “eventually flatten” and would need to be fluffed in the dryer and laid out in the sun for 3-4 hours.

I dont know who has that kind of time or space but I definatly do not. Returning it. Says it can be returned to the store. We’ll find out because it definatly doesn’t fit in the packages it came in.

I have a mattress topper on my bed and wanted more softness to it. I left this rest (after I opened and took out of pkg) for a day or 2 and when I added it to my bed it was like I was sleeping on a cloud.

It helps me get to sleep faster and it brings me back to my childhood days when I had a feather mattress except you don’t have to make sure that the feathers do t bunch up in one corner since it is stitched.

Love it! Would highly recommend it to anyone.

No clue why this got any lower than 5 stars. It’s amazing! The lavender scent is awesome and it’s strong but not overbearing, it’s perfect, so really hope it lasts. Perfectly fit twin bed. I’m in college so the mattresses we get are terrible, basically the equivalent of sleeping on the floor.

This was an incredible improvement and so comfortable. I have chronic back pain and this feels better already. It fully expanded the minute I opened it, 3 inches just as it says. No complaints at all, highly recommend.

I gave this thing 4 days to puff up. I ended up having to start using it with a couple areas still flat. Must be flipped frequently because it develops flat spots in high pressure areas that don’t puff back up.

Shifts to much so you have to undo the sheet and readjust almost every night (this is due to squishing and not puffing back up I think). Also on it’s best day it’s 3-4 inches too skinny for my bed. Horrible product.

After unpacking, it only took a few hours to expand and I used it the first night. I turn the egg carton side up, because I like the massaging feel when I move my arm and legs. It also allows air to circulate and I don’t feel hot like the flat side of the foam would tend to do.

Sleeping on this topper has lessened pain in the hip. The scent of lavender dissipated quickly. There was none I could perceive by nighttime.

There is nothing negative to say. It was carefully delivered and packaged. It was purchased for my son, who has allergies and is sensitive to certain materials/fabrics. He enjoys this topper and sleeps soundly.

I was looking for an alternative to a featherbed mattress topper and wasn’t interested in stiff memory foam toppers – and this topper fit the bill! SO SOFT, their description says “cloudlike,” and I would agree! Really supple, they recommend unfolding the topper and allowing it to “breathe” for at least 24 hours before placing it on your bed and covering it with your sheet set – excellent advice.

I gave it a few “flips,” let it sit for a day, and THEN put it on our bed – perfection! I’m relieved there are no feathers in it! 10/10 recommend, and the price is reasonable.

I read both positive and negative reviews about this topper, but I decided to take a chance. Mine never fluffed up like the photos, but it did fluff up reasonably well. I had to sleep in the spare bedroom for four nights to allow the foam to expand.

I would flip the edges of the topper every time I went into my bedroom to use the bathroom or dress. It eventually fluffed up enough to fill the majority of the cells. I have a firm mattress, and this topper makes it more comfortable.

Years ago, I had a solid memory foam topper and despised it. Because this was billed as a down replacement, I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. Perhaps a larger box and less vacuum packing would improve the performance of this topper.

Was a bit worried about some of the negative reviews but glad I purchased based on the good reviews! Our not too old Memory Foam Matress was a bit too firm and my Husband was having lower back pain every morning! This topper is pretty soft and you do sink into it which cradles your body and supports your back.

NO MORE LOWER BACK PAIN! Also, we were worried after 24 hours when the memory foam was still hard and bunched up in several spots! I was sick about thinking I would have to return it but after reading the instructions we kept it on top of our spare bed for over 48 hours and it was finally fully expanded.

Maybe it took longer because of the bad packaging along with the cold winter temp. The warmth of the heater helped it along well. Glad I purched it and waited it out. I did place an extra matress cover over it to keep it in place so it does not move around anymore.

This is very comfortable. Not too firm, not too soft. It made my 20 year old mattress feel new again. However, this topper is made in 2 parts. There’s a 3 inch foam piece and a 1 inch piece in a cover that you zip over the foam piece.

Unfortunately, the topper slides around on the mattress when the cover is on (despite little plastic dots that I assume are supposed to grip), so I had to unzip it and just set the 1 inch piece with cover on top of the foam piece.

The foam piece does not slide around on the mattress, but the loose cover with all the fabric bunches up in places. But that’s better than having the entire topper slide several inches off the side of the mattress every night.

Overall, I’m very happy with this topper. Very comfy. My back doesn’t hurt anymore and neither do my hips, so all is good.

Hubby and I have a split king adjustable bed with latex foam mattresses. The mattresses are too firm so we purchased two Twin XL toppers. Opened up them up, put them in the pillow top cover and they molded to the beds right away.

Oh my, they are so comfortable! They made our mattresses feel wonderful. However, after a couple nights of sleep the pads start shifting in the pillow top covers and off the mattress. The separation of two Twin XL mattresses now feels like a 6″ valley in the middle as the pads both shift outward.

We wanted to keep the individuality of the adjustable beds, but maybe we should have purchased a king sized topper. We’ve tried everything we can think of to keep the toppers in place; nothing is working.

So if you have a split king like we do, I wouldn’t recommend them for this type of bed.

This is a great mattress topper. It also lives up to it’s name, it really is fluffy. This is a nice addition to any mattress new or old. Our mattress is on the newer side, but was a little on the firmer side.

This topper make it more plush, but it still feels somewhat firm. If you have an older mattress this topper will make you feel like you have a brand new one while saving money. The Microban helps with any odors you may have and this topper would be great on beds of toddlers who are potty training.

If they have an accident you can easily wash it. We love this topper.

We have a Tempurpedic bed, but the mattress is a bit too firm for me. So, I got this mattress topper to soften the side that I sleep on. We put this microfiber mattress topper on the bed and it’s perfect.

It gives the right amount of softness, while keeping the firmness/purpose of the bed. I highly recommend this mattress topper. It’s a perfect fit for my king bed.

At first I liked it, but realized it doesn’t fit my standard washing machine, which is a bummer. I’m hoping with time maybe it will deflate a little bit bc it’s very fluffy. It is comfortable but just too fluffy.

What’s the point if I can’t wash it properly.

The Beauty rest tencel and cotton breathable mattress topper is a nice product but didn’t quite meet my expectations. It’s made of high quality materials. The filling doesn’t cause any allergies, the stitching on the seams is expertly done, and the bands that hold it to the bed are nice and strong.

The downsides are that the mattress topper is much flatter and smaller than I was expecting. The filling is very sparse. The size stated queen but I had a very difficult time getting it to stretch to be fit my mattress.

It could’ve been a lot better.

I started using this Breathable Mattress Topper about 2 weeks ago. So far, go good. I like that it covers the whole bed. I like that it has the straps to use on the bed, instead of covering the whole mattress.

I like that it stays in one place and that it does not slide across the bed. I like that its soft but not too soft. My sheets stay on it as well, and that is just as important. It is made with very nice quality.

And it is not all hot either. I think this is a nice product.

My mattress is very expensive, is only a little over a year old, but it is a bit firmer than previous mattresses. I decided I needed a little bit of “cushion”! I am an avid QVC shopper, when I saw this topper I decided to try it out! I’m SO glad I did.

It appears well-made, has deep “elastic sides” so it stays on well over my thick mattress, the amount of cushioning is just perfect and I stay cool all night! If you’re on the fence, just order this one, you won’t be sorry.

I haven’t laundered it yet, but can’t imagine if I follow the instructions, that it won’t come out just fine! I may launder before the 30 days is up. because back it will go if it doesn’t hold-up well! I love that about QVC.

where else can you “test-drive” anything!.

I honestly was very sketchy about buying this product, especially because the reviews were either it was the best investment or their worst. But I took the chance and it honestly is the best investment I’ve done! My bed was so uncomfortable and at during these unpredictable time everyone is facing majority of the mattresses stores either are closed or it’s just not safe to be out and about to just purchase a new bed.

So I purchased this topper instead and it has made a dramatic improvement on my bed it’s much more comfortable and me and my husband are getting very restful sleep in it! If your in the market for a good mattress topper this is the best one!.

Got the Beautyrest Tencel and Cotton Blend Feather and down fiber mattress topper in full/queen size. It comes compacted in plastic so once you open it it will expand just give it time. I like the the corner bungees can accommodate even large mattresses.

It has many pockets filled with the Cotton blend father and down fibers. Its well stitched and you dont feel anything poking out of material. It expands and is more fluffier. I did not notice any odor and had no issues putting on bed once it fully fluffed up.

The Beautyrest mattress topper is extremely comfortable on the bed. It added a nice level of cushiness, but not so much that you drown in it. I feel like it’s added a bit of support and comfort sorely lacking with just my mattress.

Feels like we’re spoiling ourselves! The one negative is that two of the corner straps broke off immediately when I looped them around the mattress. I’ve rigged it with safety pins, but they should probably be sewn on a little more securely.

Otherwise it’s awesome!.

Beautyrest’s Tencel & Cotton Blend Feather & Down Fiber Mattress Topper makes my already great bed PERFECT. My memory foam mattress is comfortable and soft, but sometimes too soft and too hot. This topper adds just the right tough of firmness and acts as a barrier to heat transfer.

It hasn’t budged since I put it on over my mattress protector.

So well made, the bed is wonderful to sleep in now. We have a very nice bed but somehow made our hips and shoulders sore in the morning. This topper keeps the bed cool, adds that bit of cush so no more pain.

It’s amazing. Didn’t want to get just an ugly piece of memory foam, wanted a nice product with a pretty cover and corner straps to keep it in place. Tried to buy a couple more today and found them out of stock, not surprising because it’s an outstanding topper at an amazing price.

This mattress topper is so comfortable. I did not take into account that 4 additional inches on my mattress would be almost too much for my deep pocket sheets. So just make sure your mattress is not already too thick that it makes it hard to keep sheets on the bed.

I never ever write reviews this is first I’ve ever written. We purchased a new mattress and although we like it it was too firm. We bought this with the intent of softening the firm mattress. Thus creates the perfect amount of cushion while still maintaining the stability and firmness of the mattress.

It is very hard to know quality based on reviews and pictures but trust me you will not be disappointed!.

This Pillowtop Mattress Topper is not just Down Illusion but so comfortable. It feel like hugging when I lay on top of it. It doesn’t make your firm bed soft. I bought it for the nice feeling of lightweight down.

Because it’s not actual down, the shape stays after use.

I wanted something that was not too thin or thick; just a little padding. This is it. It is easy to put on and it stays in place. It doesn’t interfere with the bottom sheet staying on. It is like lying on a comforter which is exactly what I wanted.

got this for my king size bed, that was not soft enough for my liking. this added the perfect amount of softness. the only slight down fall is that my sheets now don’t fit all the way around the pillow top and memory foam, so I suggest getting deep pocket sheets if you plan on buying this.

Exactly what I was hoping for. I purchased a basic Ikea mattress for my daughter’s first big girl bed which was okay. This took it to the next level. She went from waking up in the middle of the night to sleeping all the way through literally the night we put it on.

I didn’t think a topper could actually CREATE pressure points, but I was wrong. Where do I start. First off, no where near 3″. I followed the instructions, let it expand in a warm room for over 48 hours.

It barely reached 2″ of height. The topper has almost no density to the foam. It also sleeps hotter than the old latex memory foam I was hoping to replace, so the whole gel thing is a joke. Also, this is not really a Serta product.

All the documentation in the box shows it is Sleep Innovations. They slap a single Serta label on the outside of the box. On the positive side, the odor wasn’t nearly as bad as other foam products I have bought.

Overall, a waste of money. Maybe I can cut it up and use it for moving pads or dog beds.

I purchased a $4k Tempurpedic cloud supreme mattress about 5 years ago directly from Tempurpedic, Let’s just say the “cloud” mattress is anything but that pillowy soft feeling. My mattress feels quite opposite of a cloud and quite literally like like a cement floor.

My mattress has me waking up with stiff lower back pain. I purchased this Serta plush pillow topper in hopes that it would soften my painful Tempurpedic mattress. This topper did just the trick! I now fall asleep faster and don’t toss and turn, my lower back pain has also resolved after purchasing this topper, it’s a soft pillowy dream.

The combo of foam and pillow top is the way to go. I did lots of research before buying. I wish it were a 4 in topper but I am glad I took the chance with this. I am a side sleeper and I had been suffering with shoulder and hip pain.

I would wake up often throughout the night trying to get comfortable and just couldn’t because my mattress is too firm. This topper added enough comfort for my partner and I. We feel a big difference in comfort and quality of sleep.

This topper is also fairly priced compared to other options. Some people say they still felt hot, but that didn’t seem to be a problem for us. And I must say my partner is the one who gets really hot.

But no complaints from him. The danger is wanting to stay in bed longer lol. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking into improving comfort due to firm mattresses. I hope this will last a long time.

If I have any problems regarding how it holds up with use, I will rectify this review. Oh, I like it that the foam and cover are not attached, so I can easily wash it, which I did as soon as I got it.

I was happy when I put it on my queen size bed. The 16 inch stretchable polyester knit skirt helped secure it to the mattress so it doesn’t move. It also holds its shape and very fluffy. It’s made of 100% cotton fabric, 225 thread count making it exceptionally soft and has been well-stitched.

Nice padding and provides great comfort. Overall, this is an excellent, over the top quality mattress topper I’ve had in years. I always look forward to get into my bed because it feels like I’m in a cloud.

Seriously. I had maybe the best night’s sleep ever when I installed our new Subrtex Gel-infused Foam Mattress Topper. Our quite expensive water bed mattress just did not work for me after about 25 years.

Age created back pain issues and the water just did not provide the support and comfort I needed. For a while the also expensive legacy type mattress seemed to do the trick but also over time allowed the discomfort to return.

So I switched to a 6-8 inch “memory” foam mattress. That seemed to be as good as it was going to get, but sleeping flat on my back was still out of the question. When the new Subrtex topper arrived I rolled it out on top of the legacy type mattress and let it breathe and fill out for a couple of days.

That mattress became so much more comfortable with the topper that I had a hard time convincing my wife to move that topper to the foam mattress and give it a shot there. We rolled it out on top of the foam mattress.

It will not be moving from there. I think it took less than 5 minutes to fall asleep that evening and slept right through, undisturbed, and best I can tell, flat on my back for a good part of that! The removable, fitted cover is great, too.

It is easy to get off, should wash nicely and it’s just a bit awkward to put back on. A two person job.

I’ve been looking for a comfortable mattress topper — for an older pull-out sleeper (old-style with the bar in the middle!) in a couch that we love and don’t want to replace — that I can roll up and store in a closet between guest-visits.

This definitely hits on the comfort front — guests this summer, who had had previous experience with our sofa bed, really appreciated the improvement! I had hoped that the black wrap with Velcro strips and a handle in which this topper was delivered (similar to that shown for the Deco mattress topper) would serve to get this topper securely rolled up so I could store it upright in a roll in a closet.

It does not. So beware if you do not have a Bruno sofa with the built-in storage compartment or some sort of large container that can store this mattress topper folded in half or in thirds. Once you unwrap it, it won’t ever again be able to be compacted to an easily store-able size!.

I use this and on top of it I use a fluffy mattress pad because the mattress on the sofa bed that I also bought from Room & Board is so hard that it was impossible to sleep on it. It needs both the topper and the pad to make it usable.

Too bad for me as I thought the sofa bed mattress would be sufficient. But that is not the case.

We like this topper which we use on the Bruno sleeper. Both people who have stayed with us have said that the mattress and cover are comfortable, which was not the case with our former fold-out sofa bed.

This is a really nice quality, heavy mattress topper. We are really needing to get a different mattress, and this was an attempt to make the mattress last a little bit longer (and not kill our backs) while we try to make a decision.

Our current mattress was very expensive, and we are not big people (5’4 and 5’8 respectively and not overweight) and yet the mattress is sinking. Put the cover on, and felt a difference- it gave it a fluff the mattress didn’t have before.

I am a very warm person, especially when I sleep- I was concerned it would be hot- it is not. It does need to be refluffed after use (you should expect that- it’s all feathers). Great value, very nice quality.

OMG, words cannot describe how magical this topper is! #1, do yourself the due diligence and follow the recommendation of letting the topper expand for 48hrs. You won’t be doing yourself or the feathers any justice, plus it truly does poof up extra fluffy.

Our current bed is a medium soft w/ pillow top and the pillow top starting sinking on the sides my boyfriend and I slept on. I went with the feather bed to give us still the plush cloud like feeling and the thicker feathers underneath provided the support.

I also wake up much more refreshed as well. I promise you will not regret this purchase!.

I have been using a soft mattress since few years. And, now it is not very comfortable to sleep in. I wanted to add more softness and comfort to my queen size mattress. When I used Martha Stewart 3” featherbed on my current mattress, it does increased the comfort of the bed.

I like that this featherbed is well made and not heavy. It takes about 1-2 day to fluff and after that it is ready to use. Also, the outside cover is made up of cotton. The featherbed fits my bed perfectly.

It doesn’t have any bands/straps to attach to the mattress. It does slide a little after sleeping but not much. One problem that I faced with this bed, is putting the sheet over the featherbed and mattress.

So, I used two separate sheets, one for featherbed & another for mattress. Apart from this, the featherbed is comfortable. I like that fill was even and didn’t collect in the corners. The baffle box construction makes it even and smooth.

I am using it everyday and it is comfortable to use.

I’m not sure if I should be critical, kind or funny. Let’s start with funny. I spent 15 minutes trying to fold and roll the mattress topper according to the visual directions. My Apple Watch recorded it as Exercise.

Critical? This carrier was designed for aesthetics. I believe the designers never actually attempted to re-roll and put the topper in the carrier. Can’t be done with one person. Plus the material immediately was covered with fuzz and lint.

A different material would be nice. Form AND function, people. Kind – the mattress itself is comfortable. Part of what I paid for was the storage carrier. At the moment, I cannot store it in the rolled shape.

Great side couch in my tiny NYC apt office. The perfect solution to convert the room into a guest bedroom when we have guests. Supremely comfortable especially with mattress topper. When you are laying on it, it feels sturdy like an actual bed.

It fits extra long full size sheets. You can look it up by dimensions, but I might as well say it here.

Other than the nearly 8-month shipping delay due to supply chain shortages, we love this sofa topper! The Deco sofa without the topper is quite firm, and guests told us that it was fine for a night, but for more than that was a bit uncomfortable.

this transforms the Deco into a very comfortable bed, and one which we feel great about having guests stay on. It is a bit difficult to roll up tight enough so that it fits in the case provided, but am very pleased with it in general.
