A 12 inch subwoofer for small enclosure is a speaker that is designed to fit into a smaller space. It is typically used in cars or other vehicles where space is at a premium. These types of speakers are usually less powerful than their larger counterparts, but they can still provide good sound quality.
Low-Profile Design – Because todays compact cars offer less space the Infinity Reference Subwoofers are designed to fit into small enclosures. Theyre slim sleek stylish and dont sacrifice on sound. – Harman-Proprietary SSITM (Selectable Smart Impedance)Unlike most dual-voice coil woofers which provide either 1 or 4 ohms or 2 or 8 ohms the Infinity Reference Subwoofers allow the listener to 2-ohm and 4-ohm at the flip of a switch providing the two most often used impedances from a single woofer.
This allows the system designer unparalleled flexibility in extracting every last watt from your amplifier without compromising stability and thermal safety margins. – Frequency Response As Low as to 27Hz – Your audio is filled with delicious sounds.
Unfortunately youre not always hearing them all. With lows that dig down into the depths of 27Hz youll hear the low-end frequencies youve been missing. – OEM-Level Reliability Testing – Infinity tests every speaker design to the same rigid specifications as the automakers subjecting them to extreme conditions that would break lesser speakers.
They freeze them bake them shake them blast them with ultraviolet light and drive them at full power for days to make sure your audio investment lasts for years. – What’s in the Box – REF1200S 12 inch subwoofer – Owners manual – Specification sheet – REF1200S Specifications:General Specifications – Type: 12 Shallow Mount Subwoofer – Audio Specifications – Nominal Impedance: 2 ohm or 4 ohm switch selectable – Power Handling (RMS): 250WSensitivity: 92d – BPower Handling (Peak): 1000WFrequency Response: 27 175 HzDimensionsDiameter (in): 12-1/4 inch – Mounting Diameter (in): 11-1/8 inch – Mounting Depth (in): 3-5/16 inch Color: Black.
I would absolutely recommend Infinity Reference REF1200s they require less than a cubic foot of air space. I am very impressed with these subs, the box I have them mounted in is 4. 5 wide. They bump very hard I love them.
I have them set at 4 ohms on a 250 watt rms amp. They do exactly what I was hoping for. Great value great product. I was skeptical of slim subs in general but being that I have a crew cab Silverado I had limited space to work with.
The mirror actually vibrates and I can feel the bass hit. More than I expected for sure.
Great clear bass. Im running in sealed box. Not earth shattering bass but for an ordinary average guy they are great. Im 52 and just installed these with 2 pairs of infinity primus pushed by 4 channel alpine amp.
The subs are pushed by alpine also. I feel they are a great value with a great name.

Ill start by saying I have had some serious sound systems in the past but got out of it when I found horsepower so i know my stuff but im not too picky about sound anymore. I got this as a little boost for my 06 Silverado crew cab Duramax after i installed a new pioneer Bluetooth capable head unit.
I was hoping it would fit perfectly behind the seat, it did not, but after some modification to the back of the seat with a mallet its close enough to where its not too bothersome or noticeable. To the sub, I mounted everything up and did a BREAK-IN PERIOD at about 1/4 amp gain low/medium volume for 4 weeks with a few periods of heavier break in with good deeper bass songs at a little higher volume because hey, ya gotta jam sometimes.
It is very important to know if these speakers arent broken in properly they wont last long at all, they need to loosen up before full use and the sound is much better after the speaker coil has loosened and stretched.
Even after the initial 4 weeks ive still noticed improvements in the sound as its loosened more. My Pioneer head unit is VERY customizable and I can set crossovers and additional gains to the sub and inside speakers, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND AFTERMARKET HEAD UNIT to get a full clear sound.
People are complaining about not being impressed and they have factory head units, duh. The sub has a very small magnet for the box and cant really take what the amp throws at it on max but the box has plenty of room for a beefier upgrade down the road if desired, works great as is.
The wiring kit comes with a 50A fuse but after break in I bumped it up to a 100A to flow more power and there was a nice noticeable difference in the hit of the speaker. I am super happy with this other than that it didnt fit perfectly but the silverados are particular about behind the seat boxes but it works for me and sound way better than i wouldve ever imagined.
The price and quality are great with this little kit. Super happy I would definitely recommend!!.
This sub was perfectly fitted under my rear seats in my Nissan Titan. Was really hard to find something that delivers this much bass in such a small package. This sub definitely delivers. I have no need to turn this sub’s gain to max as well as max out the bass level knob.
I also don’t need it to rattle my truck AND the car next to mine apart, it’s meant to provide clean deep bass for your enjoyment. If you want bass that rattles your car, this can do it, but I leave the level low, and it hits amazing.
If you’re looking for a great addition to your sound system to buff the low-end, this is definitely the best I’ve seen for this price out there. Seriously consider this sub!.
Trust me Ive bought 3 sets of subwoofers which all work but this speaker is my favorite. I even bought a MTX dual set but the one I had hits much harder. Im a audio engineer 14yrs experience. I have trained ears these are good speakers Im not going to say good for the price I just mean good in general.
I also own the Rockville studio monitors they tell me the truth thats what made me decide to buy these which has influenced me to now focus on a dual set. I hate to leave the positive comment honestly because I want to buy lots of these and I know if they sell too much the price may rise.
Im comparing these to theMTX Terminators and also Sony Xplod speakers the solo Rockville hit harder then both of the MTX the Rockville speakers sound as good as the Sonys but better since they are built more modern.
The Pioneer TS-A3000LB – 12 inch Shallow-Mount Pre-Loaded Enclosure makesit easy to upgrade to high performance. Pioneers A-series sound design purposely matches the subwoofer and full-range loudspeakers to provide seamless and smooth sound characteristics with dynamic, high impact bass that lets you hear and feel the music.
Traditional subwoofer terminals are mounted horizontally or vertically. These mounts force wires to be bent to fit which can be difficult if low gauge high performance wires are used. The Pioneer shallow subwoofers patent-pending, angled push terminals make it easy to connect speaker wires.
The straighter connection saves space and makes installation easier. Thanks to its innovative enclosure design, the TS-A3000LB enclosure can be installed freely in the cabin or luggage area for optimal utilization of space.
Compact space-saving dimensions make it easy to install the subwoofer in a variety of trucks- standard-cab, extended-cab, or crew-cab. The enclosure is fully carpeted, creating a non-slip and scratch resistant surface.
The only thing thin about the L7T thin subwoofer is the mounting depth. These tough subs work perfectly in nearly anything with a motor. 12″ L7T 2 Ohm The L7T 12-inch Subwoofer is a true-bass thin subwoofer with a pair of 2 voice coils.

Well considering I got sent two ohm speakers rather than the four ohm that I ordered, not real happy with the order fulfillment. But as far as the speakers, I’m not sure yet on that either because I haven’t installed them.
I would prefer to be able to switch the two ohm out for four ohm, but I’m not sure I’m willing to take the chance of having another issue getting that done since I ordered them and didn’t buy them at the store.
It combines great subwoofer design with perfect enclosure design to deliver bass that far exceeds expectations. The Terminator subwoofers used in the enclosure include durable polypropylene dust caps that can survive the rigors of most trunks and are lightweight, allowing them to efficiently move using less power.

Bought this 1200watt subs & amp package from Fingerhut for pretty cheap considering the source! After installing a aftermarket head unit, purchasing a kicker 800 watt amp instead of using the MTX amp that came with the subs couse honestly, the amp that was included seamed kinda underpowered, into my 2015 Kia Soul, I was impressed with the sound & bass they produced! I cranked the beats each and every time I drove for a year straight, that’s when one of the subs voices-coils blew.
So instead of contacting Fingerhut’s warranty department I contacted MTX with all receipts and paperwork for the purchase, explained the problem and what my expectations & goal was. They sent me a return package label to return the damaged sub to them for repairs.
Wasn’t more than a week & I received what I thought was my repaired sub however, they actually sent me a brand new sub! MTX, I appreciate your customer service, your prompt response & action on the matter & most definitely your audio products! Looking forward to possibly trying your new square S65 Series subs before going for Kickers solo’s.
The 12-inch subwoofers use a new design that’s almost 1-inch shallower than their predecessors, thereby making all the models good candidates for systems with limited space. The subwoofers have an improved power rating of up to 600W RMS power handling and are a good match for the MRV-M500 mono amplifier.
Always a great speaker. Been around a long time. Easy to set up. Good quality and sound. The price is a little high. My wife loves best buy. Bt the service at Best Buy is very chaotic. On a day with absolutely nothing to do.
Should be great. Overall I do enjoy the atmosphere. The staff thus far has been very helpful and professional. Great job.
I am running two of these in a 1. 25 cubic foot sealed enclosure in my 17 Ram quad cab. At first I wasn’t sure if these were right for me, but after the initial break in period these woofers just came to life.
They hit hard and the bass is very well pronounced. I cannot recommend a better 12″ woofer for a smaller enclosure. These are the ones.

I wired this up to the rear speaker wires (high level input) due to easy access and loved the idea of not needing to mess with connecting the remote wire to the fuse box. This auto-on function did seem to work.
However, I tested the sub with a bass heavy song and the bass just seemed to cut in and not. It was like all or almost nothing. I thought it be I had some loose connections from the speaker so I played with that for a while.
But when I had this song on a loop, it would cut in and out at the same parts of the song. My best guess is that it would only kick in during very low frequency sounds. When it did kick in the bass was good.
But when it cut back, there was a little bass coming out but it was less than the stock speakers. The power light would remain on even when the bass cut back, so I don’t think it was a problem with the auto on feature.
Yes, I did play with the LPF which didn’t help and with the gain. I’m guessing this just doesn’t work well with high level/speaker input. Might work great with low level/RCA input, but that wasn’t an option with my stock head unit.
I did try with some other songs that had some bass, but again it’s only when the bass is very very low in a song that this sub would really kick in. I know it would drop off some with higher frequencies, but this doesn’t taper off, it just stops.
I have a powered home theater sub that uses high level input and it works great. I think the built in amp of this unit just doesn’t like high level input. Of course it could be just my car and others might have better luck.
Was looking for a decent and compact size sub for my coupe (very small trunk). Installation was simple and straight forward. Bass sounds nice for size and price, but does go in and out of protective mode after 10-15 mins.
It does become frustrating when your trying to bump, but you get what you pay for. If your looking for nice bass at a moderate volume then this is for you. I myself will rock this for a little longer, but will eventually upgrade since I foresee the protective mode getting on my nerves in the future.
The Rockford Fosgate P3SD4-12 12-Inch Shallow Mount Subwoofer delivers the Punch with impressive 800 watts MAX and 400 watts RMS – even in depth limited mounting situations. All vehicles are not the same: some can accommodate deep subwoofers and some can’t.
In the past that meant no bass. Not anymore! Now even depth challenged vehicles can have REAL Bass and the Dual Voice Coil allows configurations for every application. Shallow woofers are designed for challenging spaces when a traditional woofer cannot be used.
With proven PUNCH technology, The Rockford Fosgate P3SD4-12 12-Inch Shallow Mount Subwoofer delivers real Rockford Fosgate power.
I spent several weeks doing my research and looking for a pair of subs to put behind the seat in my 06 Silverado crew cab. Due to the limited space I knew I would have to choose a shallow mount. Never had any experience with shallow mount subs and after having a JL 13W6 in my last truck I knew I would have to sacrifice that big bass of JL for something different I’ve never heard or seen before.
I’ve owned mostly Rockford audio products my adult life and have always been pleased with the quality of there products, subs and speakers! I was skeptical about these subs at first because several people left negative reviews saying “waste of money, doesn’t deliver deep bass, or hit the lows, etc” but some reviews were from people like myself who owned crew cab trucks and had limited space and they said “hits hard, people hear me coming down the street.
” So without spending an arm and a leg on the JL shallows or buying the cheapest product offered like a Kenwood. I said lets go Rockford again! And man, my package came in 2 days from the east coast and I live in SoCal.
Brand new in box! And was like $150 cheaper than buying two 12s in the store. Super easy to hook up, (Rockford always provides great instructions) great appearance and the new design looks top notch.
I’ve only tested the subs in my driveway to metal and rap. They sound great! No JL 13W6, but for a sun that’s only 4″ deep I’m impressed. Once they break in I’m sure these bad boys are going shake my truck.
Worth the money for sure. Tomorrow I’ll get to use them for several hrs and be sure to leave my final review. But right now I’m stoked on these subs! So compact I’m already looking for space to fit more!.
This is a great sub. I’ve Always just had two tens but didn’t have room for it so was hesitant to just work with one sub. Boy was I wrong. This sub hits so hard it blew the solder off the back of the terminal cup.
This thing pounds I cant even get my radio turned up all the way its so loud and I’m only pushing 400w. DefinItely recommend getting some fat mat or something to further improve already great performance.

Our cones are ultra-stiff. They are thicker and stronger than other subs on the market making our subs able to handle more power than the competition. Extra Thick Foam Surround Provides Incredible Sound Quality With Minimal Di.
I couldn’t be happier with this subwoofer. I have told all my friends about this beast. Out of 5 of us we have bought 8 total and I am gonna buy another one for my car next month. This thing hits way harder then the 2 skar 18″ subwoofers I had.
I took those out and sold them to someone else. I am very very pleased. Especially for the money, you arnt gonna find a better subwoofer on the market anywhere. I mean it. If your not sure if this is for you, brother this is 100% great quality, great sound, the bass is ridiculous how hard it slams in my car.
I cant say enough about this 12″ subwoofer. It IS A BEAST MAN! dont hesitate buy one now buy 2. You WILL thank me for it. I cant wait to get my second one. Honestly I dont need it. The amount of bass that comes out of this 1 speaker is INSANE! GO BUY ONE ASAP.
I have a buddy that spent 1000. 00 on a sundown 12” subwoofer with 2000rms he is mad he didnt get one of these. He could have bought 3 of these ROCKVILLES for what he spent on that sundown subwoofer.
Thanks guys. Keep producing all of the quality products you put out. Every thing in my car is Rockville, 2 Amps, 1 equalizer, 4 component 6. 5 inch and 4 tweeters. The amplifiers are as good as the speakers guys.
I haven’t had any issues. I cant wait to go and compete. I plan to have 4 of these 12s in a Custom built box. In my class no one stands a chance. Like I said I replaced and happily sold my 2 SKAR 18″ subwoofers.
This one 12 hits harder then both of my 18s did. Well that’s all I can say guys. Buy it now thank me later.
Speaker exceeds my expectations by a long shot. Wanted to get a sundown or JBL W7 but they were a little too pricey. Well worth my hard earned money. Only concern is that I wonder how long will it hold up but only time can tell.
This JBL Club subwoofer offers incredible installation flexibility. Its low-profile design allows it to fit perfectly into even the most shallow of enclosures – great for today’s compact cars. The polypropylene woofer cone delivers exceptional bass response at frequencies as low as 27Hz.
But what makes this sub really stand out is the Harman-proprietary SSI (Selectable Smart Impedance), which allows the subwoofer to present the amplifier with either a 2 or 4 ohm load at the flip of a switch.
I used to do pro concert audio about 20 years ago. We were mostly using EV, Celestion and Peavey. A local distributor started importing JBL and their power and clarity for size ratio was very impressive.
They were a bit costly at the time though. I recently had the desire to upgrade my vehicle audio. The JBL speaker units were affordable and so I gave them a try. Brilliant speaker. It’s an auto speaker so the sensitivity is less than a pro unit which would be around 100 – 103dB, but I am really impressed.
I put a single unit in the boot in a sealed enclosure and it fills the car completely: Tucson SUV. I used a sealed, off-the-shelf product – yes, I used to tune all my cabinets to the TS parameters – but I don’t have the tools or the workspace for it at the moment so I had to settle.
27Hz is low, and even in a shallow, closed cabinet it reproduces the low B (31Hz) of an electric bass or double bass consistently and clearly. The only issue is the speaker diaphragm displacement. I can’t find the exact excursions limits but on the kick drum and low-end chords it is significant.
So significant in fact that that the sealed cabinet actually ‘kicks back’. It bottoms out in the cabinet and ‘flaps’. But, that’s not the driver’s issue – it’s an asset – it’s a cabinet issue. I plan to purchase another unit, and get the fitment centre to put the two into a reflex-type enclosure.
I’m leaning towards a 6th order bandpass but I haven’t done the calculations yet, so that may change. Highly recommend the unit.
You will be shocked by the bass response you get out of a. 75 cu ft sealed enclosure. Im willing to sacrifice a slight roll off in Hz in exchange for more sq footage. Could definitely get even more sound out of a ported enclosure with the addition of a box almost twice as big.
If your trying to save space but not sacrifice sound then this sub is the way to go. You definitely need at least 300w – 500w TRUE RMS to push one of these little beast. For maximum sound and maximum space, install these subs using 2, 3 or even 4 single sub angled truck enclosures.
Put this in a sealed enclosure running a much higher rated amp that what the sub can handle. Turned down the gain to match it up, ran the sub in nicely and it is working amazingly. Especially since I’m running a single 12″ in a sealed box in what is effectively a station wagon.
The OHM switch is an amazing feature that makes life much easier and so much quicker to do an install.

Turn it down if you smell a sweet smell while breaking in the sub. Just watch your clip light on your remote bass knob during sub break-in and pay attention when you’re pounding and turn off your radio if you smell the coils starting to burn.

JL Audio CP212-W0v3Enclosed Subwoofer System with Dual 12W0v3-4 Subwoofer Drivers, Dark Gray Carpet (600 W, 2 X) – Ported Enclosure This powerful slot-ported BassWedge subwoofer system delivers awesome output at an unsurpassed value.
The slot-port runs along the bottom of the enclosure and fires on the same plane as the woofers to produce excellent extension and response smoothness. The port mouth is flared to minimize air-flow noises.
The ultra-versatile BassWedge shape has extended sides so that it can be placed with the woofer firing out or straight down, off the floor of the vehicle. The shape works equally well in forward or rear-firing installations.
This gives you plenty of options for tweaking the loading of the enclosure into your vehicle.
Purchased this box from a local shop known the guys there since high school cut me a deal for 350$ on a new box. This is the 3rd JL product ive ever owned and the SQ is unbeatable. I bought Sundown and Skar subs on reviews stating they are better or the poor mans JLs and nope sorry just fast responding noise purely for the spl junkies.
Im grown i need to hit the lows and hear it not just trash my vehicle from vibrations. Although these are entry level bottom of the barrel from JL my mirrors shake like crazy, all the plastic in my interior vibrates and my upper console sunglass compartment pops open.
This tiny box packs a hell of a punch in my suv, have them on a punch 1000bdx dynod @1501 watts @1ohm. This box is rated for 600 rms max total. My amp states 500 rms which it is probably more like 650+ @2ohms easy.
Barely have a few hours in on the break in period and im like dam! Turned my gain down some from the shop tune felt like they were too crazy with it and they said youre good to go come back after 2 weeks and we will turn it up more lol.
Doubt they can take more and after a hour of banging them tonight my amp was ice cold i may have to get another box JL just hit so clean. I just came from two NVX top of their line 1000 watt rms cea certified 15s ran them on the same amp full tilt till clipping and these sound better.
They were nice subs worth every penny but i was ruined by the sound of JL.

I have an RP. 800 pushing 1 SDR 18″ in the prefab box. Sounds great for the money. Can’t wait to break it in so I can really enjoy it. Seriously though, the SDR subs are pretty amazing for the value.
Burst sounds great as well. It’s a good option for value and as starter system. I only have a factory 60amp alternator and 660CCA battery. I’m using a 4 channel amp on my mids and highs. At idle I’ll start to see fading headlights when the 18″ goes in.
Driving I’m pretty good. I’m on the edge for alternator or battery upgrades. I Just wanted to share that you can definitely get away without major upgrades. They would help out tremendously. The box was well packaged.
Protection on the corners and it arrived in perfect condition.
I upgraded from dual 8’s to the single 12″. Sound was flat and muddy. I then upgraded from a JVC to a Pioneer head unit and the difference was incredible. Clean clear crispy highs and a solid thumping bass.
The 12″ Skar performed to it’s true potential. I’m sure if I upgraded my 1200 watt amp it would sound even better yet.
Seemed like a good buy, paired with a jbl club 1k amp and sub rattled itself apart, called jbl they replaced the sub with one that did the same thing, the plastic inner piece was not secured to the rubber outer piece so it rattles very badly and will not produce any bass.
The Zapco DC 500. 1 is a beast of an amp. In today’s car audio landscape where inflated specs are the norm, the 500. 1 delivers as promised. For performance and build quality at a reasonable price, go Zapco.
Building on the core technology of our TW5 thin-line subwoofers, the new TW3’s deliver a powerful combination of shallow mounting depth and excursion capability. In fact, they are capable of greater excursion than the W3v3’s.

JL Audio HO112RG-W3v3 is a 12″ ported box that comes with a JL Audio W3 12″ subwoofer pre-installed. The JL Audio W3 12 inch subwoofer can handle 500 watts RMS and has a single 2 ohm voice coil. This 12W3v3-2 subwoofer box is designed by the same engineers that design the subwoofer to optimize performance and output.
The chamber coupled port design is patented and wraps around the 12W3v3 enclosure to provide the necessary port length and surface area.
I have this hooked up to a 500w rms kenwood excelon amplifier, and it sounds great. This single 12 easily can be mistaken for two 12 inch speakers. It plays everything you throw at it without hesitation.
I have listened to lots of different genres on it so far and it works perfect for everything. My one and only complaint (which is also a plus at the same time) is that it has a big bold white stiched “”JL Audio”” logo across the top of the box.
For my situation it is not very ideal, being that it is in a 2005 Scion XB and you can very clearly see it when walking by the side or back of the car. Just worries me a little, as this is a pretty pricey speaker and people these days do not really care about other peoples belongings.
Other than that, i would buy this again and again. My brother has the two 12 inch W0 subs in his car and they are wonderful, but this one sub alone easily out shines them.
i listen to just about everything. this box hits very, very hard if you want it to. but can keep up with those quiet listening times as well. get a good deck and a good amplifier and you won’t be disappointed with the clarity or extension.
excellent response to different volume levels. the only way to get better would be a W6 or W7. i had this in a full size cargo van for about a year, and it would make the windows shake at 70 on the freeway.
been in my F150 super crew behind the drivers seat for the last year and that truck is no longer a “”black hole of bass”” like my friend claimed his to be. it will probably be too much for the mini cooper i just bought, so it will just have to end up in the trunk of my 65 t-bird.
i wish i could put one in my house, it sounds that darn good.
