Item arrived within a week after ordering although no advance warning was provided on estimated delivery date or time. Tracking of shipment was offered online however proved unsuccessful making the feature pointless.
Fortunately I was home to receive the shipment. As far as the filter itself is concerned, so far so good in terms of performance. This was a replacement of a 20 year old filter so I would expect filtration to be superior compared to what I had before.
Note: filter balls used in new filter where conventional sand was used previously. Unit was straight forward and easy to install. Included step by step installation instructions were easy to follow. Time will tell if trusting the Hayward brand reputation was the right choice.
I replaced my old Hayward system with this one as it was time. The pump on this one is mich better than the last. This pump actually has an on and off switch. Previously I had to unplug it, usually with wet hands which always made me nervous.
The only downside is it does not come with the backwash hose nor the fitting and clamp to attach the backwash hose. I inquired about it with no response so I just bought the hose and used one of the fittings from the old system.
I recommend they add the backwash kit to make this a truly spectacular filtration system for above ground pools.

Great filter unit. Easy to set up. It’s been running for a week now and no problems. Service from in the swim on the other hand was difficult to say the the least. Not happy about using an over seas call center.
When I call, I expect to speak with someone who knows about pools, maintenance and operation, not a call center rep reading a script and searching the internet. I will not be using in the swim for my future pool needs.

I am very excited about my new Hayward C3030 and just in time for the summer! The installation took about one hour and it was up and running. It cleared the pool in about two hours or less. The water had a lot of silt in it from the old DE filter.
I was very surprised because the old DE filter would take much longer. I am glad to no longer have to deal with the DE earth any longer. The pressure to the pool is so much better now making the water very vibrant, that also helps with the cleaning and it looks nicer.
I did a lot of research before I bought this filter tank and this one stood out. I am very pleased about my purchase of the Hayward C3030. You cant go wrong in my opinion with the Hayward and the company was very helpful when I called them to inquire about it over other products.

I have had my pool over 30 years. This is the third time I have purchased this same filter. This time I installed it and had an issue with DE being pushed thru the filter back into the pool. After taking the unit apart I discovered one of the filtering tubes was missing and had been missed in the original assembly by Hayward.
I couldn’t believe it as it was so obvious as it was on the outside area. Manufacturer states it is assembled here in the USA,,,Very hard to understand how this could have been missed at the time of assembly.
Very poor quality control at Hayward. I love the pump now that I have resolved the problem. Use care if you by one and inspect prior to installing!.
The Hayward Perflex EC50AC (pictured) is a great Diatomaceous Earth pool filter. Great filter, great value, long lasting and highly efficient. Just by bumping occasionally, one charge of DE lasts me 5+ months.
1) There seems to be a lot of confusion between the EC50AC and the EC50 – the EC50AC has the better one piece clamp system utilizing a one-piece clamp, spring and single sleeve nut to remove the Filter Head for access to install a Bump Shaft Kit or replace the Diaphragm Gasket.
2) While this product is labeled as an “Above Ground DE Filter” is can be used in both Above Ground and In-Ground applications. The Pump is what makes it Above Ground or In-Ground. In-Ground pools require a self-priming pump and motor combination whereas Above Ground applications are self-priming.

I bought this to replace an older filter that was leaking sand into the pool. It was easy to install. Manual was not the best, but the valve had directions on it. After installing it, I vacuumed the leaked same up, and have had no more same in the pool.

This filter was purchased as a replacement for our original Pentair FNS 36. Our original filter was installed when the pool was constructed in 1996 and it was a QUALITY filter with very little maintenance so it was a no brainer what we would replace it with.
We had changed the grids a couple of times, replaced seals and finally felt it had far exceeded its use by date and it what time for a new one. My husband thoroughly read the installation instructions (a first for him) gathered all installation supplies needed and had the old filter removed, the new one completely installed in about an hour.
Again, he followed all instructions for the initial start up and, to my surprise, there wan’t even a leak. Our pool had been down so it took about three days of running the filter, vacuuming the pool and cleaning the grids twice and it looks like a brand new pool.
This is one filter that won’t disappoint and we highly recommend it.
replaced old sta-rite 150 sq ft filter. Amazing water clarity in just two days. Wished drain connection was plumbed for horizontal connection v vertical. Otherwise, completely satisfied.
I had one of these filters for eight years before it sprang a leak due to a crack in the middle of a wall in the lower section. The new replacement is almost identical except the clamp ring is stainless steel.
(The old one was powder coated but had no corrosion. ) The filter arrived in great shape. I made the trucker wait while I opened the box to ensure there was no internal damage, as was experienced by another reviewer.
All the parts were present including o-rings and unions. It matched the existing plumbing with no issues. The older filter always ran at a pressure of 26 psi with clean cartridges. The new is running at 20 psi so it appears to have less back pressure.
There may be a difference of calibration between the gauges, but I think the new cartridge design is probably a bit more efficient. Note that without professional installation you get a 60 day, parts-only warranty.
It took me about 90 minutes to carefully replace my old filter and cost about half what the professionals would charge.

This overall is a good quality product BUT installation was made difficult by a poorly made part of the multi-way valve: the bottom section simply would not connect to the 50mm vertical inner pipe and had to be cut shorter and filed.
The same part then had to be smoothed off all around it’s circumference too allow the valve to fit to the body of the filter. This transformed what should have been a one hour installation job into 3 to 4 hours and other people might not necessarily have the tools available to get the job done.
Had to purchase separate valve for input and output to the filter also from Hayward. Could not adapt any off the shelf PVC piping to fit. Once the Hayward flo valve was acquired and installed, the filter cleaned the pool of green algae in 36 hours.
This solved a long standing problem that we had with our sand filter no matter how long we ran it. Only issue is that the pressure gauge was received with the pointer loose from the dial so it does not measure the pressure.
Had to use old sand filter pressure gauge to determine initial DE pressure. I have written Hayward trying to get it replaced. No response from them after 1 week. I would recommend this filter to anyone having a problem with their in ground pool.

After 15 yrs of DE system i changed over to sand. I can’t believe i waited so long. I guess i was hung up on the micro filteration claims of the DE system. I was worried i wouldn’t have crystal clear water.
Well, no need for worries. The Triton II TR has my water crystal clear-even at night with pool lights. I do not see the small particles some people suggested i would with sand filter. This pentair is so easy to use.
Really not much to do. Just a backwash every couple weeks and that’s it. No more hard backwash for DE filter system, no more complete disassembly to remove each individual DE filter, then the cleaning of the de filters to remove the caked on DE powder, reassembly, reapply of DE powder, etc.
I’m still kicking myself for not going to this Pentair Triton II TR sooner.
The entire purchase was great. The price, the fit and the operation of the filter. I purchased this filter because it was a good price and that it was the same as the one that had been in use. I was expecting to have to re-pipe it but because it was exactly the same as the old one which had been in service for 20+ years, it connected right up.

This product was advertised as a D-sized filter Summer waves pool. It looks like the right filter but it is not. No dimensions given on web site. Don’t be fooled. It is not the right one. I found the right one on another web site.
It gave the dimensions of it’s D filter. More expensive but it fits the 600 pump. Thanks to Walmart for their return policy I was able to return this mis-adversized incorrectly sized product and got a full refund.
They were delivered quickly and not damaged. I got them when they were 10. 88 for a 2pack and now they are almost $30. I’ll wait until the price goes back to reasonable to repurchase. I got a stronger filter and find that I have to change the filters out every few days.
I have a lot of issues with algae/pollen this summer. I used to spend all the time cleaning them with the hose but at the 10. 88 I decided to just toss them and replace them.
I was able to get these marked down at the end of summer for a really low price. It will be nice to have backups ready for next summer. This summer was so hot with so much pollen, we went through far more than average.
We usually wash them out or let them soak clean in diluted bleach water and then air dry while rotating through a few of them. We change our filter daily in the peak of summer, so extras will come in very handy.

Had to replace a long overdue filter and this is exactly what I needed. My pool had a major algae problem (I was out of town for 4 weeks) and my pool was awful. I spent approximately 12 hours getting it clean and spraying off the filter 5 times within 2 1/2 days.
The filter collected as much algae as it could between each spray and it did a good job doing it. Also, the filter came clean when I sprayed off the algae. Filter did exactly what I needed it to do and now it continues to filter my pool.

I have the original 3 pumps to run my pool and two filters. This filer and pump drive’s the solar panels on the roof. Location is on the south side of the house. It turned white from the sun. It is hot in Vegas.
All I had to do was replace the air release valve on the pressure gage. The cost was $70 at the local pool store. But I did not want new gages on a old filter. I chose to replace the entire filter at $450.

We bought a Coleman 16′ round by 4′ deep above ground pool that came with disposable paper filters that last about a week. Having owned sand filters and in ground pools before, I know the value of having a sand filter.
We now just backwash the filter once a month and I HIGHLY recommend this sand filter. By one that is big enough for your pool and you will save a lot of money and time keeping your pool sparkling clean.
I also recommend you buy a AquaBot Hybrid automatic pool cleaner to clean the bottom of the pool, It is about $350 but worth every dollar. My wife loves it. No more back straining labor. The pool cleaner and sand filter keeps our pool clean with little effort.
Another good thing about the sand filter is she NEVER buys chemicals (you can forget having to take water samples to the pool store so they can sell to you a lot of chemicals), but she just buys bottles of Clorox brand SHOCK treatments ans shakes a bottle of shock treatment about once a week.
I recommend the bottles instead of the bags. No scissors needed as you need with the bags!.
This is pretty good I like the way the port valve works but if you get a bad part like I did be sure not to use it thinking they will sent part even though service department may tell you they will get you one.
The gauge was bad on the one I bought and they said they would send me one so I just left the plug in the hole for gauge. Weeks later I contacted them again and they wanted me to ship it back. well its been near 100 ever day here and I don’t want my water to get green and have to remove sand and buy new sand and reinstall another pump and sand filter.
Great price for a Hayward system but not what I expected at all. This system doesn’t put out much pressure at all, my pool was cleaner with the stock pump system that came with it. I’m disappointed that we didn’t get to use our pool much this summer because of it and I’ll have to buy another system next summer.

I bought 2 of these filters June 29, 2014. Used them constantly (seasonally) since then. At the time priced at $17. 59. Both are still usable. one is getting a bit “slow” needs to be cleaned more often.
So I am going to replace it and reuse the husk to make one of these newer $55ish variants for experimentation. I suppose I could complain the price has gone up about a dollar a year, but to me that would be almost laughable.
Instead I think I will revel in the hundreds of dollars I saved when I found these (I looked since it was obvious the Intex ones didn’t last long and were going to cost me “an arm and a leg” as they say).
It may be harder than ever to do, but personally, it makes me happy everytime I can still buy quality USA.
My pool water was cloudy and the pool service manager suggested that I purchase a new filter. I ordered this filter and it was installed by the service manager. He indicated the filter looked good and fit well.
He indicated that with the new filter, monitoring the water and applying chemicals as needed the pool water would clear up. It did clear up. Not sure about the long term durability as the filter has only been used for a month.
Also, not sure if the variable speed pool pump will also help the durability of the filter as the lower speeds may help it last longer.
Ok when I originally saw the price I was skeptical. I emailed the vendor to see what the story was on all the different brands that people were reporting that received. I got a response back saying that Hayward uses OEM manufacturers to make filter to their specs and that they will all basically the same.

Good filter for a spa or small pool. The only caution is to be sure and not tighten the pipe fittings more than recommended (1 to 1 1/2 turns after hand tight). I had to buy this one to replace my previous one because the plumber tightened it too much and cracked the plastic top at the input causing a leak.
