20 Best Polarized Sunglasses For Sight Fishing (2023 Updated)

I’ve worn “Coke Bottle” glasses all of my life. Last fall, I had cataract / lens replacement surgery. Now, I’m 20/20 without glasses. Before I would spend $500. 00 on a pair of polarized sunglasses at the Optometrist, so I know what to expect.

I bought a pair of these at Hilton Head, the day before a charter fishing trip. After two charters, and a 16 hour drive home, I am sold.

Greatly reduce glare while not being dark. Make driving much easier with my light sensitive eyes.

These are good glasses for what I need. I have started to get the reader version as I get older but I really like the reader for tying knots and checking the GPS while underway. Still good vision for sighting fish in the flats but I wish they had the readers with the same brown lens but a green mirror surface finish like I had when I didn’t need readers.

Costa was also really good with the warranty with this pair-they used a rubber nose insert with the original pair that failed, and they happily sent me a new pair that has an updated nose styling so I was impressed with their customer service.

Really like Costa’s quality for the price.

Fashion over function with these overpriced shades. Got a pair, new from Costa, for kayaking. Had less than a year, used only on weekends while kayaking. Bought glass lenses so I wouldn’t have to worry about scratching them.

Guess what? They scratch as easy as their plastic competitors. Ok- I’ll get a replacement lens, right? Contacted Luxia, was quoted. $123 for ONE lens. For that, I can buy almost 10 pairs of pretty good Sea Striker polarized shades.

This is, however, my fault for not checking on the replacement/warranty costs, because had I, I wouldn’t have purchased these over-priced ‘trendy’ shades. They’re made for people w/ ‘Salt Life’ stickers on their Z71s that live inland.

I loved my 1st pair of Tuna Alley’s so much I bought another. I am on the water fishing every week open water and on the ice as much as I can weather permitting. The first pair of Tuna Alley’s I bought have a green mirror and I cannot be on the water without them.

My eyes have become accustomed to the superior visibility and protection these glasses have given me. With that being said I wanted to try a Blue Mirror because I do a lot of fishing on big open bodies of water such as Mille Lacs, Lake of the Woods and Green Bay.

This past weekend Sunday, February 9th I was on Lake Superior and this was the 1st time I wore the new glasses. Lake Superior does not safely freeze over every year where you can get out and ice fish so this was something you cannot do everyday.

Instead of running a snowmobile or ATV we walked out and back. It was snowing and the wind was blowing. I was so happy to have my Costa’s on. They performed as expected. No fogging up, snow blindness is non existent and the Tuna Alley’s allow my eyes to read the terrain with pinpoint definition.

On the way in that afternoon my girlfriend was complaining that she couldn’t see and i quickly realized how fortunate i was to have on Costa’s. Looks like my next pair of Costa’s purchased my have to be for her.

Thank you for making a quality product. It gives me the competitive edge out on the Tournament Trail as well as a day on the ice!.

Another all around great pair of sunglasses from Oakley that I really want to love. They fit great under a baseball hat. Lenses are great. Leash is handy. I spend a lot of time on the water and have donated quite a few expensive pairs of glasses to the deep so I was specifically sold with the integrated leash on the Split Shot.

I like the integrated ear piece connection where the leash can be attached or removed. It looks clean. The leash itself is handy for keeping the glasses from disappearing. However, I’d have to say the whole thing seems a bit unrefined.

First off the bare metal cable seems aesthetically unfinished. I’d prefer some type of black coating over the wire to dial in the looks. I also wished there was some type of subtle adjuster on the leash.

The leash is great for when you want to remove the glasses and let them dangle but I also appreciate being able to use the leash to snug them up on your face to keep them from coming off should you go in the water with a splash.

The ear piece leash connection works great and can also accommodate any string to replace a lost leash with a simple loop tied into each end. There’s one annoying glitch to the system on the earpiece.

When the winds are strong the air funnels through the hollow ends and creates a howl in your ears. I love the Split Shots in theory but I don’t totally love them in practice. I do really like them as friends though.

Flak 2. 0 XL is an excellent sunglass. I love and depend on them so much that I bought a second pair. My Flak 2. 0 XL has Oakley RX Len’s and the optics are fantastic. My eyes are a sun/bright light sensitive so the Flak 2.

0 has been a game changer for me. I play tennis at a high level and my vision on the court has never been better. The bright Arizona sun is a non-factor thanks to my Oakleys. I fell in love with the Oakley Prism Lens’s I’m my Flight Deck L ski goggles a few years ago so I was familiar with the advantages of those Lens’s before ordering the Flak 2.

0XL. Both of these products are an outstanding solution for demanding outdoor sports!.

I’m a fairly small person and I have found the size ‘small’ to be a perfect fit. I also like this style a lot, having been wearing the ‘blade’ style for years, thought well that’s kind of 80’s isn’t it? I also thought those I’ve been wearing are very dark, maybe something a little lighter.

and this fit the bill. plus the blue look is cool. now, I thought this would look blue with them on, I mean like what you’d see had a blue tint. no, doesn’t. just like a typical sunglass. I’m happy with the purchase.

I’ve been buying only oakley and direct from the website. I recommend that as I suspect knock offs are more common than one might realize.

I have the blue onshores. The packaging was a joke. The glasses were in a thin plastic baggie loos inside of a cardboard box with a trifold case folded and bouncing around in the box with them. The frames are super lightweight almost cheapy feeling.

The Maui Jim logo is painted in the corner just like fake ones. The hinge screws are cheap flat head screws. The lenses are basically clear, very little tint. The fit is ok. I’ve had many too brand sunglasses and these are a disappointment.

Did MJ ownership change? These are the same price but obviously less quality and mass produced. Disappointed dad.

This is my 4th pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. They do not disappoint. Best optics in the business. Clear and crisp. The Onshore’s are definitely a larger fit with a longer arm. The bronze coloured lens is great for bright and low light conditions.

They are more of a classic shape rather than a wrap style.

I have a pair of cat cays with glass lens, they have a lifetime warranty. I sent the back to get replaced as the color on the frames is peeling away. They do not have any with glass lens only polycarbonate.

They advised to take out my old lens they would send me new pair with polycarbonate lens and have lens crafters take out the old lens and put in my old lens into the new ones. Lens Crafters can’t get the glass lens in the frame.

I was told I can’t exchange them when they get glass lens cat cays in again. So even though my glass ones are about $80 more I am now stuck with polycarbonate. Disappointed.

This is right where I like it to be. I will however say I wish I bought the reeftons instead since they fit my face better. But I am reviewing the Cat Cays. These sunglasses are very nice, clean, and sporty for going fishing or on the water.

They are snug on the face in the right way for my big head. My one and only complaint is they feel a bit flimsy, almost like the frames do not fit the frame and I can hear them wiggle around. But, other than that, the frames themselves are clear and are super efficient in blocking sunrays.

I would recommend going to a sunglasses store where they sell these and see if you like them and the build quality. I wish I did that instead :).

These Costa Cat Cay glasses are very comfortable. I am a large man and the frames fit my head without “squeezing” my temples. The 580G lens are superior to poly lenses in visual quality and the slightly heavier weight is not a factor.

On the water Costa glasses have always performed so well for me. They stop the glare and allow me to see below the surface if the water is not stained with run off. I bought these glasses because I lost my last pair due to keeper breaking, so protect your investment.

Had five pairs of each. I only buy Glass lenses because they have more clarity than polycarbonate and don’t scratch as easily. After having a pair of Costas for 10 years the earpads cracked from the sun.

they didn’t make that model anymore and my receipt was illegible. Customer service offered another style for free to which I refused ( I really wanted another style. but it didn’t come in the lens color that I wanted).

Long story short I was given the frame I wanted and the green glass lens was mailed separately they even sent me to the LensCrafters to switch them for free. No one else in the industry will do that!! So if you are torn between mj and Costas, customer service swings it to COSTA everytime.

Plus I am an avid fisherman and the green mirror 580 can see the fish underwater better than ANY other sunglass lens. I hope this helps.

This costume is cute, well-made, child-friendly (not a scary face like some), easy to put on and comfortable to wear. I LOVE that it comes in actual sizes of small, med, large, etc. and not the combined small/medium which are too big for me.

It was a big hit at our company Easter egg hunt and we’ll use it again for many years to come. This one gets an A+. I got the 15% off which made it an even greater bargain (I compared prices and prices here were by far the best) but it did go on sale for another $10 off the week before Easter.

I’ve had these glasses for about 5 years now and they have been great. I have the 580G lenses and haven’t had any issues with them. I did have an issue with the rubber coating on the end of the arm starting to peel and eventually came off.

Like I said earlier, this was after about 5 years of use. I submitted a warranty repair request to Costa expecting them to say it was normal wear and tear. To my surprise, they covered them under warranty and I will be receiving a new pair of glasses.

I bought a pair of these in preparation for a big hiking trip in May. I had heard great things about Costas in terms of optics and general quality so it seemed like a good deal (plus the style was cute).

Unfortunately I’ve had these glasses for just 2 months and already the lenses are scratched more than my regular pair that I’ve had for 8 years. While the glasses do have fantastic optics and the hinges make the fit comfortable, the build of the lenses and frames themselves feel flimsy, almost like a cheap pair you get at a tourist store.

The lenses have not stood up at all – they scratch extremely easily. A fall in the pool basically destroyed one lens because it was so scuffed from retrieving them. While some of this amounts to user error, glasses that are designed and sold as appropriate for outdoor water sports should be able to stand up to the rough and tumble of such activities.

Now I’m stuck with a 2 month old pair of $80 glasses that barely function as well as the cheap Amazon pair I keep in my camping box. Extremely disappointed.

I was skeptical at first (because I have never owned, paid or received) a pair of glasses this expensive before. I called Costa and they told me everything to look for to be sure they are authentic. I’m reassured that these are the real deal! I love them! they are light weight, fit my head and look cute too!!.

I have a dozen different Costas and so my wife finally wanted a pair. She loves them except only she wishes she had copper silver mirror lens, not just the copper. Otherwise you can not go wrong with Costa Del Mar.

This is my 4th pair of the Tifosi Dolomite 2. 0 glasses. First pair the polarized film started to peel off. This was after 1 1/2. According to Tifosi’s site, they don’t have a film, the polarization process in infused, or something like that.

Anyway, these still fit my face great, so I bought 3 all with different lenses (mountain biking, every day use & for sea kayaking) as I don’t like changing the lenses as it causes unnecessary wear. This Clarion lens does repel the water exactly as stated.

As an avid sea kayaker, I found this to be a real convenience. I rated 4 stars based on my first pair on polarized Tifosi’s.

I was looking for wraparound sunglasses for running and cycling that would fit my small/medium face. These work perfectly. Excellent frame and lense quality for sunglasses in this price point. Lenses are not the darkest, but they are tinted perfectly for days I am moving from bright sun to shade.

I have used Tifosi sunglasses for several years now. They are awesome for sports (golf) and provide a sharp image in all lighting situations. I used to buy very expensive sunglasses and decided to try these out and have never looked back.

Excellent fit and incredible value. Best anti glare glasses I ever had and that includes some very expensive brands. If you spend time on the water, beach, fishing, boating, these glasses are unmatched.

I would expect they would be great for skiing too.

I broke my last “expensive ” glasses and bought these as I have had the Calcutta Backspray before and liked them. I like these “steelhead” even better and have the rubber pads on the nose and earpieces and a little bit bigger.

I like the amber lens myself as it’s better for everyday IMO. I’m average size 180 lb guy and these fit me perfect and look good. Great value.

Received the glasses promptly, and I immediately starting wearing them. They are polorized, ,as all I had to do was get on the water to spot fish without glare. I’m satisfied with them, and may get another Calcutta style as these look great.

Costa Del Mar Polarized Sunglasses are awesome. Aside from excellent UV protection and lens clarity, the guide and process to ensure the proper fit is spot on. I personally prefer the 580G (glass) lenses versus the P (plastic) lens, mostly because the plastic lenses are prone to scratching/dings as is the case with every manufacturers plastic lens glasses that I’ve ever owned.

Plastic lenses are lighter on the face, but I’ve found that with the proper fit, glass lenses don’t feel terribly heavy. I wear my sunglasses every day, anytime I’m outdoors. I wear them driving, golfing and fishing and they stand up to every activity I put them through.

I think everyone who owns a great pair of sunglasses has their favorite brand. I’ve worn Oakley, Smith, and a variety of other name brand sunglasses and for me, Costa are my favs.

These are very good. They’re not the most handsome sunglasses around, but that’s not what people want these for anyway. The lenses are incredible — most polarized lenses block out a significant amount of glare, but not quite like these Costas do.

The difference id mind blowing. These sunglasses are a must have for my people who want to have better vision with their sunglasses.

I wear medium to small face and love my Broadbill’s. The glass lens is worth the extra $60. I bought the matte grey with silver mirror and they block sun and glare better than any sunglasses I have had before.

I also have the Harpoon with plastic lenses and there is a huge difference with the glass. These are great sunglasses and worth every penny. These will work on the ocean as well as the golf course.

These are by far the best sunglasses I’ve ever found. Have used them almost every day since purchased from REI a couple of years ago. Great protection, incredible clarity, comfortable to wear for ours at a time.

I live in the sunny south and wouldn’t survive without good sunglasses when boating, paddling, hiking or cycling. Bought mine on sale, worth every penny.

The ChromaPop technology is awesome. The clarity of colors is amazing. The fit is a little snug for my melon head, but the spring action allows it to fit ok

The frames are high quality the glass lenses are superior in clarity. Excellent value.

I bought these for a completely different purpose to what perhaps most viewers are considering. I am a window cleaner and in bright sunlit conditions suffer with glare from the glass which by the end of the day is very painful on eyes.

Many photochromatic polarising types are available and I was looking for something that reduced glare, cut down on reflective surfaces, stable to wear with constant physical movement and thereby not dropping off all the time and in warm conditions remained comfortable in use throughout the day.

These tick all those boxes as well as looking good too! I think the price point is about right for what these glasses provide. The company has done its homework and, yes we could all spend excessive amounts for brands that sound expensive but at the end of the day they need to be a functional item that provides the user specific requirements and obviously fisherman have nothing but high praise for these.

First, let me say that I have not used them for fishing yet. I can’t wait because I know they will be great. Have been using for my every day shades and the are the best I have had, and I have had many of the big names over the years.

What stands out to me is that they have the right amount of tint for all conditions. Not to light or to dark. Perfect for driving as the amount of contrast is just right. Also, the company provides top notch service.

Review I discovered many years ago when most experts were either using or advising grey/blue tints for reef or saltwater fishing and the others for fresh water, that the brown/amber lens enabled me to see the GBR earlier than others in the boat.

In those days, (prior to GPS) it was a huge advantage to see the reef miles before you got there; that enabled the boat skipper to plan just where the first anchor drop would be. However, the sunglasses I had then were a fixed shade, unlike the new ones I now have.

So far, I haven’t been on the water with the new ones, I have only used them for general wear and driving, but they are excellent, and the fluid tint allows me to wear them much later in the day than the old ones.

Can’t beat the price for these polarized sunglasses, they really help when wading through rivers and streams, particularly on cloudy or overcast days. I really like the fit and the lenses are a very clear amber tone.

I often forget I’m even wearing them. Why spend more on fishing glasses that will be easily lost or damaged. I will definitely buy these again.

These are my favorite sunglasses. I’ve bought half a dozen so far. Not too expensive, but good lenses. What I like about these are that the lenses aren’t too dark. Dark glasses are annoying. These are just right.

They make the world more vivid and provide eye protection while using tools and equipment. When the current glasses get too scratched, I get a new pair. I use them pretty hard crawling around under vehicles and using metal grinders.

They hold up pretty well.

I initially bought these sunglasses to provide glare reduction while driving. I can not use the darker lens of other sunglasses because of a low-vision eye condition. The light green/yellow tint on the Terror Eye sunglasses reduced glare without reducing the amount of light I need to have in order to drive.

But a bonus to these glasses is the fact that they color my world happy. Greens and blues and yellows of the trees, bushes, grass and the sky all ” pop’ with vibrance. I purchased several more for family members because they loved the way my glasses made them feel too.

We now call the Terror Eye sunglasses our Happy Glasses and specificslly wear them on nature walks and country drives.

Packaging doesn’t fully protect the item and i received item with both lenses detached from the frame. I put the lenses back in place with no problem. Overall, the item was excellent for it’s price and perfect for outdoor sunny and can be worn also indoors.

I bought this product because I already own a pair and I wanted a couple more, They are a great quality for the price. I am however upset that I have not yet received the cases for these sunglasses that I purchased at the same time!.

These are undersized sunglasses. At the time of order the Flying Fisherman Maverick model was out of stock. These might be fine for slim-faced females or children but do not perform as full sized sunglasses like the Maverick.

First let me say that I have been a huge fan of Costa Del Mar sunglasses and apparel for a long time. I have recently had the worst experience though. I always thought that I paid $300 for these glasses because the company was so good and easy to work with.

Admittedly I have never experienced an issue until my last pair. (Which will be my 2nd pair of the same exact glasses for my husband, and the 5th pair that we have bought as a couple). We had these glasses about a week and my husband told me that there was a discoloration on the left lens, but I was never able to see it.

Sure enough he had them IN THE CASE IT CAME WITH, in the vehicle and the glass cracked. When I tried to get them to replace the lens they said it was OUR fault!! These glasses have never even been breathed on in a hard way, much less for one of us to break a lens!! I am disgusted and appalled and ashamed of myself for spending over a grand on products from this company.

OK. This could get long but heres my story I wanted a made in usa sunglasses for my Florida fishing excursion that would take me to Alaska and also double as great everyday pheasant hunting glasses in my home state of South Dakota.

I’m an example of the buy once cry once theory and made the purchase. My son also bought some costas that have the same qualities and deficiencys as mine. Lets get to the great things these glasses have.

They are lightweight and you don’t even notice you are wearing them. The lenses are great. durable and have clarity and all that is advertised of them. But there are definitely some sad notes. They fog so easy it is really annoying.

I noticed this in other reviews also. so evidently there is an issue. After wearing them for 4 months the plastic nose piece is failing. Today the nosepiece finally departed from the frame. I mentioned this to my son and his(which were a different model) were doing the same.

So I figured lets send them in to get repaired. Well not so fast Chico. The online form that is needed to get a service order started is like applying for a house mortgage. I filled out the form entirely.

Wow, now its wait and see if Costa even wants to fix them. So my review is a 3 star for performance with a fogging issue but for the 200 smackers I paid I figured for a Made In USA product I would get a product that is fully supported by the manufacture.

Im probably on my 4th pair of fantail sunglasses. Although I really enjoy the glasses, excellent for deep sea fishing. Wear them all the time whilst fishing. I am getting rather frustrated that after a period of time (Year – 2 Years) the rubbers keep on de-laminating from the frame.

It takes about 6 – 8 weeks to get a replacement pair. the new pair after a year the noise piece is starting to de-laminate. Surely you guys should have sorted this problem out by now because I know i’m not the only person with this problem.

An avid fisherman actually changed to another brand. Very disappointing.

These are the sunglasses I can’t live without. I’m on my second pair because I lost my first. They’re very comfortable on my sensitive temples and the only pair I have that truly block out sunlight for driving, etc.

I’m light sensitive and these are a must for me over every other pair I own. The cream dnd tortoise pattern is really pretty and the cut is flattering on my face.

This style fits most faces well. I compare the fit to the Loreto, Copra, or Remora. The way the lenses angle are super flattering to most face shapes I’ve seen them on. The copper base lens with the green mirror gives everything a soothing golden vibe and it’s my favorite lens option from Costa.

I love them so much that I own them in the cream/tortoise version, as well as the blue/black version. The frame is lightweight and super comfortable. I would buy this frame over and over again, and I actually DID buy the cream/tortoise pair twice when I gave my first pair to a boat captain as a thank you.

The price is pretty great, too. Buy this pair, you won’t be disappointed.

I am not a fan of the style of these. they were given to me as a gift and honestly, just the whole look of them is not really my thing. I’m just not a fan of the whole two-toned frame colors. too exotic looking on.

the fit was honestly perfect on my head though. and im sure the quality of them is nice if your outside enough it would be worth it. but for me working inside on the daily bases, I only wear shades for looks and these are just too pricey and not worth that price at all to me.

the lens are smaller than i like them, i like the bigger ones with my face shape. just not worth the price. i dont like the blue or the green colors in them, seems childish to me. like the cheap sunglasses i buy my kids at walgreens.

Had these for several years of very light use. Love the glasses – best lenses ever (glass). BUT the rubber along the nose bridge and bottom of the frame on the cheeks totally separated. They were not left in a hot car.

Got in touch with Costa hoping that they could repair them, but they would only replace them. They offered free replacement of any pair I wanted, which is great, but they no longer carry the ones I really liked.

Pretty good service but really disappointed about the delamination problem. Also – wish I could reach their service/warranty group by phone, but the only option offered is chat. Service and response is good, but I prefer to speak with a representative.

I’m a commercial fisherman so I’m constantly on the water fishing. I’ve tried many different types of sunglasses but nothing compares to my Costa Saltbreak sunglasses. I custom ordered mine from Costa with the green mirror glass lenses and couldn’t be happier.

The clarity is amazing being able to actually see the fish in the water amongst a lot of other things you can’t see with other glasses. Not to mention they’re extremely tough glasses and very scratch resistant.

Yes they are expensive glasses but they are worth every penny and I’ll never buy any other brand besides Costa.

I bought my costas 10 years ago when I finished beach lifeguard training. I thought they were too expensive and wanted oakleys but caved to peer pressure and got them. 10 years later, I consider them one of the best purchases I have ever made.

The polarization is top class and I’m not exaggerating at all when I say that 2 people are alive today because I was wearing costas and was the only person that could see them drowning through the glare of the sun.

They make every color pop and looking at the world through these glasses just looks better than without. This is the first review I have ever written for ANY product. If it looks too expensive, just throw caution to the wind and buy them, you’ll be happy you did 10 years from now!.

I am on the lake bass fishing 5 days a week at least. As any fisherman will tell you, a good pair of glasses are an essential component to sight fishing and accurate casts, as well as eye strain. I love these glasses and own several pairs of the Brine frames with different lenses.

Today I tried to purchase a lens I wanted to try but they are sold out. If this is your first pair and fish on freshwater lakes, go for the green lens with rose color. Omg you’ll be blown away by the ability to see fish in freshwater.

The next pair you buy (lens color) depends on when you fish, (copper or sunrise). Unfortunately the sunrise is out of stock, but I’m sure you can find them. There’s a lot of fakes so be careful where you buy.

I’ll only but here and from my local shop. Besides the lenses I love these because they wrap around closing all sun access and they aren’t huge. These glasses are specifically designed for fishing. Take care of them.

And have a separate pair(s) for fishing, your more likely going to scratch them If you use as daily wear. Last point is warranty, amazing. I was cleaning my costas and snap, I created a claim and sent them in.

They sent me a brand new pair immediately, included all the accessories and even upgraded my lenses to glass. This may have been a mistake or they saw I’m a good customer and as originally stated own several pairs.

Are they worth $250, yes but if your just wearing them to drive use the poly lens. They are just as good, not as clear but great for driving. I prefer the tortoise shell and love to see the lens options open up in availability.

I own 4 pairs at the moment so yes I recommend them. If the fantails or whitips are to big for your face then you’ll like these. One recommendation is less to make to Costa, many of us fisherman wear a flat brim hat to block the sun.

After a few hrs of wear the arms get uncomfortable because they are inside the cap. Would be great to see you design an arm that either cushions the pressure with gel or things the arm so it fits perfectly.

Of all the sunglasses I’ve had over the years, these win. I wear sunglasses everyday for walking, biking, vacation pretty much anything outdoor. They tick my boxes: Comfort, durability, eye protection from sun, wind etc, and look amazing.

The Brine is marketed as a men’s style, but it should be listed as unisex because they look and fit great on me. The wrap design makes them ideal for boating or a windy beach. It reduces wind and sun in your eyes.

Had these for almost a year now. Colorado gets over 300 days of sunshine per year, so, I’ve had no shortage of opportunities to test them out. They fit snug to my head, without being uncomfortable on the temples or bridge of my nose, which makes them perfect for running/exercising outdoors, golf, driving, etc.

Make sure you keep them in the hard case that’s included, or at least in the soft microfiber case to avoid scratching the lenses. And, only clean them with microfiber cloth in order to preserve the lens coating as long as possible.

These glasses seem to work as well in sun and cloud. Vision is so improved. Well fitted and we fly comfortable. Best to get a lanyard to accompany the glasses. Great product.

LOVE these! I found myself needing to replace my Oakley’s, and after doing a little bit of research, I settled on these because of the Happy Lens. As a graveyard shift worker, I don’t see much sunlight, and my eyes have become very sensitive to light.

Not only do these do a great job of protecting my eyes (no more squinting!), they’re really lightweight and seem quite durable. They filter out the bad UV light, and let in the light our brains needs.
