gave the product only 3 stars because the product actually does what it should. However, it lost the 2 remaining stars because of packaging. They should have taped the top down on all sides to keep it from opening in transit.

Once it got here, it was a total mess. I was able to save half of what spilled.

Easy to apply. Dried quickly. Was able to sand smooth and paint. Filled in the areas great. I would use it again.

I bought this to patch some nail heads in hardwood flooring and other misc. tasks. I applied it using an old gift card (I couldn’t find any 1″ or smaller plastic putty knives at the store). My 3 year old daughter was interested in the process and she soon had the gift card technique mastered.

Dried pretty quickly and sanded in around a half an hour.

Wow , this Gorilla wood filler is so super easy to use. All you have to do is squirt some where you need it. Very easy to spread. It’s permanent and Crack resistant. Perfect to hold screws into a hole that may be a little bit too big.

We used it to cover screw heads on a coffee table. It’s pretty smooth so didn’t need to sand paper it after before painting. This will be what wood filler I purchase in the future for all my projects.

Had a frying pan handle that was accidentally damaged. This filler did the job and the color matched very well that is very hard to see where the handle had the original damage. It doesn’t dry instantly so it allows you to apply and mold it as needed.

Once it dries in a few hours it can be sanded to a nice finish. It worked great and once dried it is quite solid and feels very durable.

This tube comes very handy for small house project, kids class work and filling nails hole in wall. I recently used this to fill few of the nails patch in my old bedroom where i need to change painting position.

Fixed few old furniture and applied wood filler evenly on the surface on cracks to give new finished looks. Loved it.

I have used a lot of Timbermate over the years and I have found it one of the most versatile wood fillers around. To David from Melbourne, who gave it 1 star, you can add water to it when it dries out and it as good as the day you bought it.

I have added water to this product after not using it for 2 years and it worked perfectly. Another tip, if you want to fill large holes, do it in stages of thickness no deeper than 3mm and then add more, when each stage has dried.

It’s always a good idea to seal it , if putting it out in the weather. I am an average handyman but I find if you’re going to do anything unfamiliar, read instructions or do some research first.

I used Timermate for a grain filler on small vanity before trying it on my kitchen cabinets. I’m glad I did. The stuff worked great at filing the grain but the smell is terrible. I didn’t mind the smell so much when I opened the container b/c it smells kind of like a band-aid/medicinal.

After putting a coat of primer and 3 thin coats of pain on the cabinets they look great. but the odor is like a nursing home. and not a clean one. I have ordered a different grain filler to try one the kitchen cabinets.

I have about 3 8oz containers of Timbermate left over.

This is a very light colour. If your jarrah sees any sun, it’ll darken, and this filler will really stand out. I added some black paint in mine which made it a much better colour match. Also if you use it outside, it will dissolve in the rain.

I could not find a date on tube of Elmer’s Pro Bond Wood Filler tube. I was disappointed because as I squeezed the tube the fill would not come out. I cut wider and at an angle and still no luck. When the tube side gave way, I used what I could to fill my small holes.

What a mess. I do not recommend this product. I asked my man to get me the stuff in a tin but he did not listen to me and got me Elmer’s ProBond instead.

I had hoped that Elmers Probond Tinted Wood Filler would squeeze out of the tube like thick toothpaste and be easy to work with. My experience was a little different. The filler was very hard to squeeze out, even after enlarging the hole in the nozzle.

The wood filler was drier than I expected, giving less than a minute of working time. Maybe okay for small nail holes, (except I had to enlarge the nozzle) but difficult for larger dents. I will be pleasantly surprised if it isn’t dried up the next time I go to use it.

Great for filling nail divets in pre primed trim. Water clean up. Need 2 applications for deeper holes, no paint touch up needed over filled holes. An Ace associate sold me a tub of brown wood filler and said to use a small brush w/white primer to cover the brown filler.

I do a lot of 3D printing with PLA filament mainly and before painting the terrain features, it is often necessary to get rid of ridge lines and such using the Elmer’s Wood Filler. I have some very large structures, and so it can take a while to cover them with the Wood Filler.

I purchase the small containers because once it starts to turn dry it will turn color. If you have a large container the catalyst is in the filler that is invariably going to dry, and if you don’t use all of that large container, then a lot of it is often wasted.

If you purchase a bunch of the smaller ones, then far less is lost, and usually you can pace your work for your models by using a jar at a time. This approach has worked well for me.

This is amazing. You just take a little bit and use a scraper to fill in an area where some veneer has come off older furniture. I let it dry overnight then went over it with a wood stain paint and you cannot tell I had repaired my antique buffet at all.

No horrid odors either and cleans up with soap and water if you make a mistake.

This is a good product. Its a small container. Bigger is better! So get the bigger one if you plan on doing a lot of filling. By a lot I mean I did three door hinge holes and about 6 cabinet small cabinet knob holes and isn’t much left.

I will go bigger and buy it again.

Great way to permanently repair exterior wood trim, posts and beams that would be expensive to replace with new. I have repaired 12 full dimension 6″x6″ approximately 20′ long posts and beams associated with them that support a high deck and roof structure.

They had severe weather damage and I had repaired them with Bondo in the past but it did not last more than a year before it started to squeeze out of the weather cracks. I repaired half of the posts and beams using Abatron a year and a half ago and the wood remains in perfect condition.

I am now about finished repairing the remaining beams. I also have found Abatron to be the perfect repair for cracks in my cedar siding. I am very impressed with this product and highly recommend it.

When MyBondo repair failed I contacted technical support at Bondo and the rep told me he hated to recommend a competetors product but for my repairs Abatron would be his choice. The tough part was removing all of the old filler.

I also used liquid wood everywhere that I used the Wood Epoxy to make certain that I got the best repair possible.

the only fix I’ve found that lasts for repairing rotted or decayed wood. The strength and the bond are excellent. Coefficient of expansion is identical as wood so it lasts and very durable. Working with WoodEpox the 1st time is a little tricky but you’ll see good results.

I’ve found that a tiny amount of water on your hands helps molding and shaping the mixed product.

I have started to use this to repair the edges of a plywood deck that was originally sheathed with fibreglass cloth and resin. Unfortunately during the last 40 years someone used a sander nearby and rubbed the fibreglass away leaving the bare plywood.

I have used the Albaton Wood epoxy as it is advertised that it wont shrink to seal the raw edges and in some places gaps in the plywood. One can use it in temperatures down to 10F. The first application (3 days ago) had to be “encouraged” to start hardening by using a hot air gun.

Yesterday it had hardened enough to let me sand it down. I then applied a second coat in parts. Again because the temperature was just above 10F I had to use the hot air gun to get the hardening process going.

I am not sure if I was sold “old” stock as the Part A material (white) was quite dry only once I started mixing the (Beige) B material did I get a putty like mix that could be shaped. Heat certainly helps when mixing and when filling cracks.

I have just checked the second application and it has finally set hard. I have not rated this product Excellent Quality as I did find it quite hard to use. Compared to Poly cell its expensive ! thus the lower score.

I tried out a small practice piece of wood before I use on our kitchen cabinets. They’re a dark stain, and I mixed a tiny bit with some of the DAP Premium Wood Filler with Color Blend Technology. I used a little deglosser on the wood.

I had mostly pretty shallow nail holes to fill, and a little bit of small cracks on one edge. After mixing a small amount of the filler with the stain, I applied it with a small plastic putty knife. Overfilled just a tad, let it dry for a couple of hours and then lightly sanded.

It looks good and blends in well with the original color of the cabinets. Plus, when we get ready to paint these cabinets they’ll be nice and smooth already. I’m not sure if the product will dry out in the tub, the lid seems ok, but we’ll see.

DON’T purchase this stuff if you’re going to use a clear oil-based stain on wood. I don’t mind paying more for a product that works—but, this is paying more and and getting far less. I bought it because it said stainable–to me, that means it will assume its place as wood where you put it.

No. The brad-holes were barely noticeable but because this gunk soaked in or made the area incompatible with oil stain, my eye is drawn to a pencil-eraser-sized bald spot around the holes themselves.

The beautiful cornice box project now looks amateurish. My husband did a lot of carpentry in the navy—he bought cherry wood putty to use on these cornices, but I thought I knew better. I sure wish I would have used what he bought instead of this gritty product.

It is dark out of the tube, gets darker when drying, then shows up in the middle of a stain-free area it creates. I hate to be wrong—I hope I save somebody the heartache of having a project ruined by this “professional strength” stuff.

Elmer’s Pro-Bond is a standout. You won’t be disappointed with the results. It does everything they claim, and more! Unfortunately, it’s packaged in a container that’s far from air tight. If not used often you’ll find it semi hard.

If you find this condition, all is not lost. just add some water to bring it back to your desired consistency. that is if it isn’t rock hard! I overcame that problem by upon opening I transferred the contents to an air tight jar where it will stay fresh until you use it again.

I ordered 12 bottles of this product. The product worked great for shallow holes, but not for extra large fill holes. Two (2) bottles of DAP did not harden in extra large fill holes after 1 week indoors at 70 degree temperature.

Very disappointing, extra work digging out and time lost on project. However, the product does stain well and application was easy to apply and sanded well.

I have found DAP Plastic Wood to be the best wood putty thus far. I prefer the mixture from the tube though. The consistency is better than that of the 16 oz. square tubs. The product in the square tub dries out way too quickly for my use.

I have used the tube to repair dings and nicks in our siding and to fill the gaps where the sheets of siding meet. I am also able to form/sculpt a ‘wood grain’ finish in areas of the siding that required extensive sanding which removed the wood grain effect.

My husband brought home a competing brand of wood filler in a tube, it cost more, performed poorly and was more like sawdust mixed with a bit of glue. It wouldn’t even stick to anything.

Bought this to fill some low spots and cracks in my dog’s raised food bowl stand. It went on really well. I like how the color changes to know when it is dry. I hate how it basically turns to powder when you touch it after it is dry.

It sanded nice and smooth and just crumbled when I touched it with my fingernail to see if it was hard. It was dry but just not strong. Now I have to scrape it all out and start again with a different product.

I bought 2 if these containers to repair my broken parquet floors. I normally use a different brand but because the store I often visit ran out, I resorted to this. I was hesitant first because the cover of the container is pink and I thought the color of the wood filler would dry pink as well.

But I was pleasantly surprised. Very easy to apply and dries fast. The quality is very good and now I wish it came in bigger container. Its holding up pretty well as I haven’t seen any cracks. Overall, I would recommend.

Got the job done for the purpose project that I was on. Was a good match for the wood that I was refinishing. But it dries very quickly so if you work with the product you must work fast to make sure that you get it completed in time before the drawing.

It molds very easily it doesn’t take a lot of the product to complete what you need to do and feeling cracked so whatever your project might be. It does have an odor. So make sure that if you do work with a mask if the fumes annoy you.

Although the fumes may not be harmful it is rather a strong odor.

I recieved this for free in exchange for my honest review through viewpoints/ PowerReviews! I love diy and he love in a home that was harshly lived in before we got here. I couldn’t tell hou how many gouges and missing pieces there are throughout the whole house.

For this review, I have chosen to only focus on my using this to help repair the underside of my french doors would had a serious 5 inch gash on the bottom. First I scraped away any flaking wood and deglossed the area so i would have clean template to work with; next I started with the first layer of the DAP Wood filler and let it dry over night, the next day I added another layer and let it dry for half the day and then added another layer.

It is definitely key to make sure to allow each layer to completely dry! Thankfully My dad has worked with a similar putty and guided me a bit but the directions on the back are pretty clear. There was no expansion that i could tell, it was like a hard plastic and was super easy to sand down with a bit of patience.

I highly recommend fine grit sandpaper for this part. I have yet to figure out what i want and with winter here, i can’t really work on the gash on the other side but I am very happy with DAP. Next year I’ll know if it can take a stain like it says it can.

I also would like to mention, this should work way easier on a small project than what I accomplished, but why not out it text right! I docked it a star because right now only time will tell how well it stays in place and replaced the missing wood; as of now I am quite impressed and highly recommend for any Do it yourselfer like me.

I use DAP Plastic Wood Filler to repair wood trim in my rental units. Tenants are notorious for putting holes in the wood work for everything from window treatments to hanging potted plants. Even though you tell them to put holes in the plaster instead, many do not listen so I am often filling holes in woodwork after move-out to make things look nice for the next tenant.

This wood filler works quite well for small applications and is best for sanding and painting to look seamless. In larger applications, even after following instructions for multiple coats to build up thickness and allowing adequate time for drying between, it still isn’t the most effective fill product because it tends to pull away from the edges as it shrinks and moves different from the wood through natural thermal cycling.

It also is pretty obvious when stained that it is a patch since it doesn’t take stain the same way the surrounding wood does. Most of the competition behaves the same way, so it’s not that this product is not as good as others, it just advertises a bit more than is practical for use if you want a nice looking finished product.

I always make the mistake of purchasing this from my local store, if/when they don’t have another, better product available. and I always regret it! This stuff is rated for interior/exterior but is probably really intended for exterior use because it’s 1) greenish in color and 2) coarser than you’d want for an indoor project (i.

e. installing trim or building some item of furniture). My biggest beef with this wood filler is that it comes in a tub with way more than I need, yet, once you store it, it instantly dries out and becomes useless and a total waste! I’ve tried sealing the lid with duct tape, etc.

but the product still dries out, and this is frustrating because I’m 100% confident that the manufacturer could provide a good-sealing container IF they weren’t mostly interested in selling more and more tubs of this junk.

p. s. Did I mention that you can’t fit a standard putty knife into the top of this container. Ridiculous!.

We used this in various places in our remodel. It is a great product. Goes on easy Sands easy and ready to paint very quickly.

Thought this would fix the issue of a south facing front door with a crack, and Ive tried several brands like DAP. After two days post application, and then paint, it proceeded to crack, again. At this point with $35.

00 invested I think the best solution is simple clear silicon paintable caulking=$6. 00 Ill let you know if it works.

Easy to use. Noticed some shrinkage in areas that my kids helped with. As long as you’re over 8, it shouldn’t have shrinking issues.

Like the spreadability water clean up no conflict with topcoat when touching up prefished materials reasonable dry time would love to see more colors available

I have used this product in white and natural on previous occasions and have found it to be very good. I’ve even used it to rebuild the moulding of an Edwardian window frame where it had rotted slightly.

Good to sand and drill. However, I find it almost impossible to get the product out of a tube once opened (especially the larger tubes). Today, I gave up and cut the tube open. It appears to have got the job done and the rest has gone into a small glass jar so, hopefully, it will be good to use again.

I find it hard to believe that I’m the only one to have this issue and Ronseal needs to deal with it. Excellent quality product, decent value for money, product easy to use – product packaging leaving something to be desired.

I used this as Screwfix don’t sell a plain white wood filler! The two pack seemed a faff and very smelly, so I used this for minor repairs, screw and nail holes in skirtings and door frames. Ordinary filler won’t sand smooth enough, so you need this stuff.

It dries v quick so take a small dollop and pop in a tub. Use a good sharp flexible filler knife. Sands easier than some wood fillers for a smooth finish, which can be an issue for non professionals,but is hard and smooth.

Good stuff. May need a key for smooth surface. Natural colour is pale enough to easily paint over with white (plus you can see where u did yr repair jobs, so you can easily sand before you paint over! Natural is actually a plus!.

I was not quite sure about this as I have not used a ready mixed wood filler product before. I used to use a filler that came with a tube of hardener, which was always very good, It would also set in the cold.

This product was applied to repair a chipboard laminate that had blown partly on one edge due to damp. I gouged out the damaged chipboard to the solid. I did all this repair work in my garage to save the mess in the house, also it was very cold, about 5 degrees outside.

The filler had not hardened after two hours. So I brought the panel indoors to warm up and it set very well. I had to build the repair up in two 5mm layers. This time I applied the second layer indoors and it did set within the two hours.

It also sands quite easy with a sanding block. Very pleased with the result.

I had a lot to fill so didnt know whether to buy a small or large tin. On seeing the tin thought there would be plenty; the tin is only half full! On the plus side it went further than I thought so there was enough.

To mix it says use a pea size of hardener to a golf ball of filler. Think very small pea! I used it outside on a hot dry day so that could have had an effect but it had to be in place within 10 minutes.

You’ll get 10 – 12 balls of putty, depending on how big you think a golf ball is. Work quickly and it’s very easy to use, hardens quickly and is super easy to sand smooth and level. I suggest wear gloves & use a different mixing pot each time, even the unhardened putty is dificult to get off anything it touches.

The filled area needs more coats of stain than the surrounding wood, to blend in fully. All told, a very good product, fills deep holes, easy to get a good finish. I would deffinitely use again now I’ve had experience.

Having just moved to a new home where I have 4 heavy wooden gates which unfortunately have seen better days. After reading previous reviews which honestly gave great advice I set about repairing the gates rather than a very costly replacement.

Started by removing loose rotting wood and applying the wet rot wood hardener I was ready to start the filling process. I mixed the filler as stated, working the filler into the various areas. You need to be quick as it really does set fast.

sanded it down later that day and finally coated the gate with a 10 year weatherproof gloss paint. You wouldn’t even know there had been rotting wood there. If a 55year old female can do this anyone can.

Repaired half-glazed wooden door. DeWalt multi tool saw ideal to cut out the soft/rotten wood. Large, deep hole filled quickly and easily. Plywood panel then fitted over whole bottom half of door, covering some of the filled area, then further minor filling of hollows and final sanding before painting, two coats Sadolin Antique Pine to match rest of door.

Filler takes this finish well and door doesn’t look conspicuously patched. Third coat should make it hard to detect. Good sound repair. Much easier than replacing the whole door and a fraction of the cost.

About 10 years ago, we finished our bare Civil War-era heart pine floor with Pure Monocoat. And truly, the oil has been remarkable given the fact that we did not maintain properly! Using the woodfiller, I was able to do some repairs to nail head holes and other needy areas.

I did have to find stain to color the medium woodfiller to the appropriate color, but besides that, it was easy to use, hardened well, and accepted the oil.

I liked that you can mix to the consistency you like, it sands well and takes the oil pretty well, though some pigment gets stuck in the fills. The major down side is that if you use the filler before finishing, it stains anywhere it touches and takes quite a bit of sanding to remove.

This was with the medium tone on Doug fir.

Okay, the good news is that this stuff dries very hard. The bad news is that it dries very hard. What I mean is that for a very strong hard filler, this is great. The problem is, it is more difficult to sand than other comparable fillers.

If you just want to fill a few scratches and be able to sand them easily, this may not be your first choice. Although, to be fair, smaller repairs aren’t too bad to sand. I’ve used it to fix some gouges and heavily damaged wood, and let me tell you, it is hard as a rock.

Difficult to sand compared to other wood fillers I have used, but definitely stronger and I would assume more durable. I use this filler for projects I know are going to need a really strong repair, while I use another brand that is easier to sand for smaller things like nail holes and small patch jobs.

Product has good consistency, spreads and fills well. Accepts paint well, but contrary to label claim it does NOT accept stain. If you are looking to refurbish and overpaint, then this product is acceptable.

However, if you wish to stain, this product is unacceptable. I would not recommend this product as there are many other products available that will accept stain well.

A good product useful for woodworking and other projects where a hard, durable filler would work. Major issue is the solvent, which evaporates quickly, which gets the job done but also means it dries out in the can even if the lid’s on tight.

I get around that by adding a small amount of acetone time to time, then it lasts for years. It’s as good as brand name products re: applying, no wood filler is really any easier to use. If you don’t apply too thickly, and sand down any excess, it works just fine.
