20 Best Bike For Carrying Child (2023 Updated)

My kid loves it. We got it for his 4th birthday and he rides it whenever he gets a chance. This is his first bicycle with stabilizers of course. But, still managed to ride on his own from first time.

We don’t want coaster brakes as he peddles back a lot. Overall. Love it.

Having put two season of riding in on the Original KRS (which we LOVED), we had a good base of experience to compare the two models. Both install quickly and securely, but the Pro is certainly easier to install, make adjustments, and remove/reinstall.

The fit/finish of the product is so high quality and the thoughtful engineering/design makes adjusting a breeze, literally so easy. From opening the package to riding, it must have been less than 15-20 minutes.

From there, the benefits of the Pro shine just like all KRS products which is to say the experience of riding with your little one transcends the bike and the connection you two have together goes far beyond the single experience.

Seriously, can’t say enough about this dynamic and the opportunity to bond in the great outdoors. This is a great product for anyone that wants to avoid contact with their frame, fit for an ebike with a bigger tube set, or simply go for the premium option.

We’ve ridden miles of single-track, gravel, and dirt with confidence in the safety/security the Pro provides. Only downside is my little guy will outgrow it this year :(.

I had seen early previews on youtube and reviews of the original beaming with praise for the build quality. The Pro seat is everything i had wanted from other brand offerings with the added build quality that Kids Ride Shotgun had on their original.

My 3 year old son and I are working on his strider abilities and when he wants a break or wants to go fast on bigger trails this seat does the trick! The install was very straight forward and the adjustability is incredible.

He feels very secure and comfortable. Now that i have it installed i can see why having the separate handle bars would be beneficial for my little guy to have better posture. He is in constant attack form and i am betting that will get old on longer days we go out.

AKA. I’d suggest getting the handlebars to allow your kiddos the chance to sit up a little more (and mimic their bike posture better). We came from him sitting on the top tube , feet on the fork and hands on my handlebars.

Since this seat has him up higher the hands position needs to come up too. Love the opportunities this product affords my family to get out without having to worry as much about being stranded with a strider bike a mile into a trail system.

Now i can strap the strider to my back and keep the good times rolling 🙂 Love it!.

I got the Shotgun Pro seat for my 2 year old son. I have mounted it to my fat bike with front suspension a plus bike with front suspension and a suspension bike. This seat is amazing, the range of adjustability is incredible.

It mounts easily and quickly to all the bikes it has been used on. It takes 30 seconds to installl or remove if you are being slow. My son loves it, he wants to ride with me everytime I go out on my bike.

With having my son up front and holding the handlebar he is part If the action and has the ability to move his weight around and stand up If it gets rough. The amount of trails I am able to do with him is really quite surprising.

I find that I can almost ride as normal I am not thrown off balance wise. I would highly recommend a dropper post with this seat to allow your feet to get to the ground when stopping it raises your top tube significantly.

If you are trying to get your family out on rides and you have little ones, this is the way to go. I love it, my son loves it, and it allows our whole family to go riding together. What more could you ask for!.

I had put off buying this for quite a few months, as I was not sure how my daughter would take to it and that we also had a good child seat (Thule) already, so why do we need a new one? You need this one in your life, trust me.

Super easy to set up, with all the tools required to fit it in the box, simple instructions written and video. I mean, how easy can you make it? My initial doubts about my daughter enjoying it were blown away within the first few minutes of riding.

We were on a local trail on our first ride, sections of it Blue/Red and she absolutely loved it. Lots of Woohoo’s and “faster Daddy!” suggest it is a hit. The main thing that I love about it though, is that we have a constant conversation when we are out, spotting different things and chatting all the time.

Because our heads are closer together we can both hear each other really easily and chat away quite the thing. On the old seat it was always difficult to hear each other and meant shouting and then misunderstanding each other unless you stopped.

Previously it took a bit of persuasion to get her out on the bike with the lure of hot chocolate and cookies from a cafe, however now she is asking me to go out as soon as she is back from Nursery, even when the weather isn’t that good.

We have had it just over 2 weeks now and been out on it 7 times, on Saturday we recce’d a trail half marathon at a leisurely pace and she was comfy the whole time for around 1 hour 30, as ever though need to remember the little one will need a few more layers than you.

The cost of this is insignificant in comparison to the smiles and adventures that you will have, We both love it!.

This set is utterly fantastic. My 3 year old will scream and cry his face off if we ask him if he wants to go in his back bike chair, he’s gotten a taste for his bike seat at the front so why would he ever want to go into a full blown chair at the back now?? It’s easier for us to get out of the house now, as he’s excited for mummy’s seats and elijahs seat.

He talks more on the bike now. He’s slapping over hanging tree leaves. Absolutely fantastic. We will be purchasing the pro set very soon, for my husbands bike, as he’s feeling left out! One star marked off as the seat does slide back slightly.

It seems like it’s found the spot it wants to be in, but luckily this is resting against my seat so it can’t go too far back – I have a small bike for a 5ft1 woman. And the handle bars move if enough pressure is applied, my little one likes to squeak them up and down.

I have the right size frame according to the handbook but it doesn’t stop them from moving – it doesn’t move like crazy, it sits in place until my LO decides he wants it pointing down! Again, those two points only takes one star, and that one star won’t stop us from upgrading to the pro for my husbands bike – for that growing room.

This set is amazing, had it a couple weeks now. Hugely recommend. Don’t get that Argos one for £40 for goodness sake.

I bought the seat so I could train towards a mtb event whilst taking my little 2. 5yr old along for the fun. He absolutely loved it stood up when he felt confident, didn’t complain about the seat (must be comfy), and told all his daycare friends that he rides to daycare with mummy.

He says “rock and roll mummy” when we get on the bike. The position was excellent for me as he was seated below my chin which made riding a breeze. His seat wasn’t in the way when pedaling like other models I have tried.

The appearance of the seat was minimalistic and tied in nicely with my bike which I also liked. My only issues I had was that the delivery took a lot longer than anticipated due to being lost in Australia post however was all sorted once the company new I was missing out on ride time.

I also made the mistake of not measuring the width of my handlebars and therefore the rad little handlebars do not fit my bike. Buyers error. Anyway little man manages quite ok with just using my bars anyway.

Purchased for grandson 20 months old and he LOVES it! So do we! The adjustable seat with the back is helpful to keep him balanced and in position to learn how to use the pedals. The streamers on the handlebars are a very nice touch and reminds me of my bike when I was little! The tires and tire housing are plastic so the bike is not heavy and it rolls easily.

I like the fact that the bike folds a bit (not a lot) but that helps to get it in and out of car, or for storage. What is most fun for this kid is the little storage compartment at the back. He has used this to hold some of his small toys, collecting rocks, flowers, etc.

I like it so much I am going to order a pink one for my grand-daughter as well.

I bought this for my 2 1/2 almost 3 year old Grandson for Christmas. My Grandson Loves it! This Tricycle is just the right height for him to reach the pedals, and it will adjust as he grows. Very bright and shinny too, and of course he loves the basket in the back because he can carry all his trains, cars, and trucks with him wherever he goes! Radio Flyer has been around for years and it’s good to know the quality of their products haven’t changed; they are still great in every way! My Daughter and Son-in -Law not only think it’s cute, but they enjoy the convenience of it folding up to store when my Grandson is not using it.

Comes totally assembled! Rides easily across all types of flooring and pavement. Is a little “tippy” when going down inclines when the rider is not yet familiar with how to steer! Does have a small handle on the back of the seat that allows an adult to assist with the steering until the rider is able to steer on their own.

Great product for the price and is perfect for the toddler learning to ride.

Great overall experience. My husband and I are avid cyclists. We bought our grandsons upscale balance bikes (not usual Strider) with a single hand break. Still, we were concerned that a gift of a “big-boy” bike for our oldest when he turned 4 would be too much for him to handle.

WRONG. Within 15 minutes, he went from “Don’t’ let go, Daddy” to “LET GO, Daddy!” At 4 years old, he is experiencing the freedom of bike riding and has gone on his first “distance” ride to the local park and back (total 1/2 mile) LOL.

As cyclists ourselves, it was important that he learn to ride with hand brakes and not foot brakes. Brand name bikes (Trek, etc. ) do not make a 16 inch bike with hand brakes. I love the design of these brakes connecting the rear brake to the front brake with a delay between engagement of the two, making sure that the kid doesn’t fly over the handlebars.

The kickstand is very handy and I love that the 16 inch came with a longer seat post and a bigger saddle which means that he will be riding this bike for several years. I will say that the bike is a little heavier than what would be ideal.

I didn’t weigh it but I guesstimate it at around 15 pounds. On the level and slight downhills it is fine. Haven’t tested it on a steady uphill like you can expect on many of the rails to trails roads in the Pittsburgh area.

Still, I understand that it is lighter than many if not most bikes for kids this age. The bike wasn’t too difficult to assemble. The video tutorials were super helpful. However, there was one area – I think it may have had to do with handlebar assembly – that should have been clearer.

It had to do with getting a space equal when attaching the handlebar to the stem. The video said to tighten one side a little and then tighten the other side a little so that there is not a larger space on one side than the other.

We spent about 30 frustrating minutes trying to get this right. My husband wanted to return the bike, when I read somewhere in the instructions not to worry about this – as long as it is tight. The video made it seem like this was super important for a safe ride.

Other than this, we are SUPER pleased and will definitely recommend this bike to our cycling club as a great bike for their children and grandchildren. And – make sure you start your kids on a balance bike !!!! It makes a huge difference!.

I had narrowed the field down to 2 different bikes for our oldest kiddo. I decided to take a chance on the Guardian bike because (although I’d never heard of them) I really liked that the brakes weren’t coaster brakes and that the hand brake was only one side and so engineered that my kid couldn’t send himself over the handlebars.

Ordered it for Christmas and it arrived quickly. Waited until Christmas Eve night to put it together and it took about 15 minutes (that included time to watch the video). Wonderful quality, we’ve had zero problems with it, and it is as promised for braking and ease of use.

There are lighter bikes out there, but there are a lot that are heavier. This is a good weight bike, easy to use, and I’m a customer for life. We’ve now bought our second kiddo a bike through them and the same experience.

Her bike is one speed, which is more challenging, but she’s getting stronger with each ride and she feels safe on it. The low stepover height was very nice–allowing them both to get “bigger” bikes than they would have had with other brands.

Now that Guardian bikes are made in the US I have no reason to ever use another company. I’m beyond impressed with our experiences and their bikes. I could have paid a lot more for the other brand I was looking at initially, but I chose to come back to Guardian because honestly it is a much better bike and it was less money.

And when they exclaim “Best day ever!” when riding. you know that you did the right thing.
