Although this USB card is a bit more expensive than similar cards, it works well and provides plenty of power to attached devices. There are 6 external USB ports and one internal. The included SATA power cable ensures that you can draw power directly from a PSU connection rather than pulling it though the PCI slot.

One caveat is that this card has the USB ports mounted horizontally. If the ports are mounted vertically then there’s no issue, the connectors have plenty of room since they’re oriented up and down. (See the image for a comparison.

) Since the ports are horizontal, you’ll want to make sure there’s enough clearance in the card cutout. Some cases have card slots that are just too narrow to be able to plug USB connectors into it. My PC case was one of those, so I had to take a Dremel tool to the slots and grind them on each side so they had a wider opening.

After that was done everything fit properly. Chances are your PC has backplane slots that are wide enough, but you should check before buying this (or buy a card that has the ports mounted vertically).

With that said, the card provides plenty of ports and plenty of power to handle most devices.

I found this very straight forward to install and worked without any problem. The internal port is perfect for my Bluetooth adapter. At first I feared that it would be wasted, but now am happy with it.

Buyers should keep in mind that they need a SATA power connection to fully power the USB ports. If no cable connection is available at the location where you install the card, a new SATA power cable and open connection on your power supply will be necessary.

Fortunately for me, I built my computer with a large power supply and had a spare cable and connection on the power supply available.

I built a NAS using an old Lynnfield-era PC running CentOS 7. I had previously used a Highpoint SAS/SATA controller to keep all the HDs internal. The Highpoint controller works well, but requires a kernel module that must be compiled with each kernel upgrade.

I found this annoying and wanted a hardware solution that didn’t require a kernel module. I picked the StarTech card even though it is 3x the price of the Chinese cards because of my experience with StarTech stuff.

They make very high quality stuff. Their engineers design great boards that are not flaky. Since I’m relying on the data in my system, I picked high quality components. I purchased two of these cards.

They each provide six external USB 3. 0 ports so I have a total of 12 ports connected to 12 USB 3. 0 HDs. I’m running zfs with raidz3. That’s 48TB of raw storage with ~30TB of usable storage. I’m seeing ~60 MB/sec writing to the array from /dev/zero with ‘dd’.

While it’s nice having internal drives for the NAS for a clean, compact setup; it will be nice to be able to easily disconnect and connect a replacement drive when I experience a disk failure. I got two large power strips to plug in all 12 of the HD power transformers.

Overall I went through a few USB3 cards and they just barely beat USB2 performance, when they worked at all. So it was a great pleasure when this just plugged in and worked after loading the drivers, which come supplied on a CD.

This board is really fast and lets you get the most out of your USB3 drives, especially external SSD drives, they really scream on this interface card. Hard disks or SSD is about the only thing that will benefit from USB3, most other things are slower, like a keyboard or mouse, even a TV USB box does not even tax USB2, but no doubt you will get a major boost in performance if you have USB3 drives currently plugged into USB2 ports.

Overall this is a great product that does exactly what is says it will do. I would not hesitate to suggest this to a friend and am very happy with this purchase. This cost about twice as much as many of them but well worth it, it works.

Hardware Installation Rating = 5 The physical install is very easy, open your PC, find an empty slot and plug it in. You can optionally provide the card additional power by plugging in a spare SATA power cord in your PC.

If you do not have a SATA type connection or no spare power cords in your PC you can get one from Home Essentials Direct for under 10 bucks. (Older PC tend to have 4 pin Molex power connectors, if that is your case you can get a Molex to SATA adaptor here for under 10 bucks.

The good news is that power cable is not required for the board to work unlike most of them, and if everything you plan to plug into it is powered itself then there is no need for the internal power.

If you do plan to use the USB3 ports to power things you should hook up the extra power. Software Installation Rating = 5 As easy as it gets, pop in the supplied CD and run set-up, reboot, and that is it.

The CD I got had the most current drivers which was nice. Performance Rating = 5 The real test was benchmarking it, with my original USB3 card I could not get more than about 90MB/s on a file copy, with this I am hitting 240 – 270MB/s, benchmarks and my USB3 SSD drive is insanely fast.

With this card all of my USB3 drives are about twice as fast as with my old USB3 card. (the old one came with my PC and had an older chipset, it was faster than USB2 but not a lot. ) Note: if you have USB2 drives this is not going to make them go faster unless you have an underperforming USB interface, which is unlikely) However if you have been using USB3 devices with USB2 you will be blown away how much faster they go.

I also tried some old USB2 drives and they worked perfectly, albeit slower by nature than a USB3 drive, but it hit full USB2 speeds with USB2 drives. This card works brilliantly for my Oculus Rift (VR). It supports windows 10, but make sure you don’t install the old drivers from this website. The new ones are automatically installed by windows 10, and are (at the time of my writing) driverversion 10.

Added this to an old Dell XPS to use a new USB3 external hard drive. Transfers files only about 2. 5 times the speed when used in a USB2 port but that’s because the with the news drives, you never know what disk is actually in the case (WD and Segate won’t tell you, they only quote the speed of the interface which means nothing without knowing how fast the mechanism inside is!).

Startech tech support is first rate. I bought this for my home computer after replacing a no name card that did not work with this at the office. The only negative is that actually plugging in the USB cable is difficult due to the port taking up the whole width of the standard slot.

It worked perfectly and gave me 2 extra USB 3. 0 ports on the back of my computer too. This could also be used to add one of those 5. 25″ optical drive blocks that have USB 3. 0 ports on the front instead of an actual optical drive.

The SATA port is a little tight at first. Might be a good idea to plug it in and unplug it a few times before installing the card to loosen it up a bit.

I bought this to expand the capability of an old i7 computer system from 2009. The installation was straight forward and it works very well. I chose this model because it has an internal header to connect to a case’s front panel USB 3.

Needed more USB 3. x ports with a controller, didn’t need to be bleeding edge Gen 2. 2. abyx. v10 (3. 2 Gen 2 or above). Did some light research, and really wanted to avoid Renesas from a previous experience.

The card also needed to fit into a PCIe x1 slot, and other cards looked. dubious, with their USB C ports (3. 0 x1 can’t support over 8Gbps). Also don’t have many C to C cables or devices that use it.

Don’t need it to power devices beyond flash drives and just drive a powered USB hub with wireless receivers. Installation was straight forward, and Windows picked it up immediately.

As I described in another review, we had, here in California, a no-warning fire safety power shut off. This damaged my new PC build when a power surge occurred that went right through my APC backup surge protector.

It fried the main USB unit in the PC case which routes all USB connections through the front ports and the I/O on the motherboard. I am grateful that nothing else was damaged. It could have been much worse.

I bought this adapter along with an Allegro USB-C adapter in order to temporarily replace all the non-functioning USB ports. Every one of of them was affected. Even the keyboard and mouse would no longer work.

Now I can connect to my peripherals and manage until a replacement USB unit is shipped from Germany for my PC case. This Allegro 3. 0 card is backward compatible with 2. 0 and 1. 0, and it is also plug and play.

Bought this to upgrade a Dell R720 Server so we could to backups to USB cradle for external backups. Loaded the drivers that came with it into Server 2019 and it worked like a charm. Way faster than USB 2.

Installed a few weeks ago. Easy enough. The card when fully seated, did not quite line up with the screw hole on the case. Dont know if that is due to card or case. Case is pretty generic mid size case from 15+ years ago FWIW.

The card seems to work fine, but I have had some occasional keyboard and mouse lag since I installed it. I’m using a logitech mk120 wireless with the USB fob is plugged into a legacy USB port. Tried a couple different ports, seems to maybe help.

I’m rocking an ASRock 880GM-LE FX with an FX-6300. I also sometimes wear winter boots from 20 years ago. so there’s that. Going to reinstall windows soon — it’s been a while, needs a refresh — so we’ll see if that helps.

Will maybe revisit review later. I chose this for combination of ports, price, and header to add two more ports to front of case. I dont regret it. But not sure I can give hardy recommendation yet.

I have one system where the on-board USB 3. 0 header stopped working for whatever reason, so I popped this card in, switched over the header, and everything is working perfectly again. It’s a dual-boot system with Windows and Ubuntu and both OSs picked up the card with very little effort.

I had to get the drivers online for Windows, but Linux saw it and automagically had it working upon reboot. Even the Windows drivers were downloaded and installed in less than five minutes. Speeds with both OSs are consistent with what I expected, so no problem there.

The other system is Windows also and after a quick download, that one is up and running as well. That one only had front panel USB 3. 0, so adding this card to have some that were needed on the back is great! Definitely recommended!.

It works fine in some systems, but not in others. I bought this to add a few additional USB ports to an HP workstation (580-137c), but Windows and Linux would never play nice with the hardware, no matter what drivers I tried.

Reading through the manual for the USB card, Vantec recommends moving the card to another PCIe slot, but since the HP only has one PCIe x16 slot (w/ no onboard video) and one PCIe X1 slot, this wasn’t an option.

I did more testing with other systems to try to find out if I had a dud, and the card behaved the same way when installed in an Asus Prime B350 motherboard. The HP also has a generic B350 motherboard, so maybe there’s a compatibility issue with the chip set.

The card did work in an ASRock B450 PRO4 motherboard and an in an old Sandy-Bridge setup, so it definitely wasn’t a dud. The card is cheap enough that it’s not worth spending the time or gas to return it to the store, I’ll just hang onto it for a future build.

The added ports a definate plus for any system, does work well, Although the power option for the card would be better if connection was capable of actually connecting to the motherboards USB pin connector other than sata or romex connection, noticeable on system boot up and has caused some interference during bootup.

However after a couple of minutes interferance clears. Power option is a negative extra working USB ports positive, will Keep until better solution.

I needed more USB ports and this card gave me four more USB 3. 0 ports. I appreciate that they included the power feed cables since I use my ports for charging devices along with data transfers between external drive enclosures and thumb drives.

The provided DVD had the needed drivers for my Windows 10 PC. All said it was low price, fine performing and easy to install.

This card is very unreliable. When you start the PC, sometimes it will find the card, sometimes it won’t. When you put the PC to sleep and wake it up again, the card and all the devices connected to it are gone.

A simple reboot doesn’t fix this. You have to shutdown the computer and pull the plug. I have tried all settings in the BIOS, I have tried both Windows 10 and Windows 7, and nothing fixes the issue. Basically, this card is completely useless to me and a waste of money.

Furthermore, the card contains horizontal connectors instead of vertical. When you plug it into the motherboard, the case has an opening in the back so you can plug devices into the connectors, but on most cases this opening isn’t wide enough, so you can’t physically plug the USB device into the card!.

Bought this to use on a Windows 10 machine. After installing it, I wanted to test it because of some of the low reviews. I used a 5 gig file to transfer between two external hard drives. I tried this four times and it completely locked up the computer and it had to be shut down with the power button every single time.

Just to make sure it was the card, I connected the two drives to the factory 3. 0 ports and tried the file again. Moved it three times without any issues. There is no question that it is the newly installed card that is the issue.

I would recommend that anyone looking for one of these passes on this one. 2 stars because it fit correctly and it powers up via the sata power connection. Data transfer was a no go for me.

I needed a faster means of doing backups, as the Dell R710 only has USB 2. 0 ports. Adding this card doesn’t get you screaming fast performance, but it runs at the max rate specified by my Costco Seagate USB 3.

0 backup drive. The published max transfer rate is 180 MB/sec. I was getting about 50 MB/sec with the USB 2. 0 ports. On a Dell R710 running Ubuntu Server 16. 04, its pretty much plug and play. Turn the machine off, install the card and power up.

A quick “lsusb” showed there was a USB 3. 0 hub. You better have your Seagate external drive already formatted and have a file system on it. If you don’t you will have USB hub errors and won’t be able to get out of the error loop.

Plug the Seagate into a USB 2. 0 port, initialize it, put a file system on it , mount it and do a media test. Then “umount” the drive, unplug it and plug it into the USB 3. 0 card. If you still get errors you’ll have to power down the server, power down the drive and start up from scratch.

What a pain. Things we do to cut down on backup times. 🙂 10/21/18 Edit: I changed the rating to 5 stars. Things have been running very well at 100% and I’ve had no problems. The more I work with this card, the more I found my initial issues were my issues, not the card.

If two USB 3. 0 drives are on the same card I was getting 175 MB/sec transfer rates. 04/117/19 Update: After a Dell bios update, I started to have problems. On boot the R710 would get into a continuous loop of some type of usb bus error and then the boot process would say removing power from bus.

10 seconds later, the same message would come up. The only solution would be to unplug the Seagate external drive and then plug it back in after the boot process is complete. This is not good if you want an unattended reboot.

I fixed it by looking for a used Dell pci express usb 3. 0 card (0YJ94F). I’m still leaving this a 5 star rating because the card works perfectly in my desktop PC.

I chose this pricier powered USB 3 card hoping to avoid installation hassles. Once my W7 PC found the driver disk (included) everything installed with no problem at all and it seems to be working well so far.

Have got some heavier USB loads like a USB TV dongle working satisfactorily. Also hope it will cure USB problems with a Logitech keyboard. Needed a SATA – Molex converter lead for power (only needed if driving heavier loads).

Worth pointing out that the vertical stacked mode of USB ports were a very tight fit behind the slots of my (Corsair) system box. You may need to jiggle the bracket a little to align it, as I found the slot aperture on mine was such that you could barely insert a USB plug due to the steelwork of neighbouring slots interfering with access to the USB ports themselves.

USB plugs are a tight fit and take up the width of the slot, but they do still work satisfactorily.

The card has a port to plug in SATA power; they explain this is to give it added power (I believe for charging – not sure if for general operation), but it works fine even without it – at least for standard operation to devices that have wall power.

I received this unit today, got it installed and had Zero issues with plugging in to the USB ports as others have described in their reviews. Upon powering up the PC, the Windows 10 platform allowed immediate automatic loading of the needed Drivers to get the ports activated.

After making sure everything was working properly, I disabled the Motherboard controlled USB ports by disabling them in the Bios. I needed this card because the Motherboard USB controller suffered a component failure, which was activating a constant error code on my PC.

I have this card installed in a HP Proliant N54L Microserver. I have all external ports connected up to external HDD and the internal port connected up to a SSD. The server has be running 24/7 for more than 4 months and I have not experienced any problems whatsoever with the Syba card.

Reliability is a key feature for a server application and this card is doing great so far. Data transfer rates through the ports is as fast as the connected drives. I measured transfer speeds between Seagate 7200rpm HDD’s at peak speeds of 220MB/sec for short periods with sustained speeds in excess of 150MB/sec.

That is as fast as those drives can be. I measured data transfer speeds with a Vertex 3 SSD in excess of 500MB/sec which is what the mfg spec says is the maximum speed. This card has a total of 4 USB 3.

0 ports. The cost of the card, including the low profile bracket (important for a Proliant Microserver where space is very tight) was the same as several other PCIe cards with only one or two ports. I went to the website and downloaded the drivers for this card.

The CD that came with this card had the most current drivers so there was no difference in performance. Be aware that the CD has many other drivers for different device than just this card. You will have to choose the drivers you want or you load up a lot of extra drivers if you select them all.

I only tested this card with supplemental power supplied to the card to power the ports. Some people want cards that do not need secondary power. My research indicates that USB 3. 0 ports require more power and if you wish to use devices which pull power from the port (for charging or to run a device) it is necessary to put supplemental power to the port.

Its a reliability issue. I am happy with this USB 3. 0 PCIe card performance and reliability. I recommend it.

Installs easily and adds 3 new ports outside along with one inside. I actually installed this in two different computers. One for an internal connection and on the other I installed a USB Bluetooth dongle.

Works great and you can never have too many USB ports.

I bought this because of an issue I was having with my VR headset. My headset was plugged directly into a 3. 0 motherboard and it was a providing enough power to keep tracking going on certain games.

I read online that it USB hub would help and I ended up finding this instead. I am extremely satisfied with this item it is completely fixed my tracking problem is providing enough power to keep the tracking going.

Definitely going to recommend this to my other VR friends.

This expansion card is ideal for older PCs with PCIe revision 2. 0 or 1. 0. If you have a newer machine with revision 3. 0 avoid this card. I put this in an HP P6610f circa 2012 and it works great. It does require power from the PSU for it to work.

The cable that’s provided has only a female molex and a female SATA and male SATA connector. In my case I needed a male molex to female SATA adapter to connect to one of PSU’s spare connectors. If you’re planning to install into an older machine, especially a prebuilt, having an adapter to connect it to power might be necessary.

It says in the spec that it has support for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. However I have Windows 10 on this machine and it works with it. Another interesting thing is that I actually run a dual-boot of Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.

04 on this machine and it works on Ubuntu as well. I connected a Seagate expansion drive to it and it fired right up on Ubuntu. If you’re looking to add USB 3. 0 to an older machine and need good operating system support you can’t go wrong here.

When first installed, card communicated with PC although I never saw a difference from the native 2. 0 USB. Two days later the PC would stop recognizing the card. I would completely uninstall card and drivers and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t.

This happened on two different desktops. As far as I’m concerned, this card does not work at all for me.

To address a few negative feedbacks others have made: 1. “Devices connected to card not recognized in BIOS”. Well of course it’s not going to be recognized in the BIOS. It is a PCIe card like a graphics card and the controller drivers are not loaded until you boot into Windows.

Why do you think you can’t access the GPU until you log into Windows? 2. “Underwhelming performance gain, don’t see 10x speed boost vs USB 2. 0”. It is IMPOSSIBLE to reach the specification speed of 5 gigabits per second (Gb/s).

5Gb/s is the THEORETICAL maximum speed achievable thru the USB 3. 0 interface. 5Gb/s = 625MB/s (Megabytes per second). Conventional 7200rpm HDDs max out at about 140MB/s (rarely seen) not including burst speeds and the fastest write speeds are only achieved when performing a sequential read/write, meaning transfer of one large file.

Given that the theoretical speed of USB 2. 0 is 60MB/s (impossbile to reach because of overhead), 66. 7MB/s during my test is pretty impressive!.

I ran some benchmark tests after getting this controller running on an ASUS P5Q Deluxe board. Older board for sure but worked fine on both OS’s. Tested using the following disks using both PassMark & CrystalMark.

Switch to a USB3 disk and I’m getting 343%-345% improvement over a USB2 disk and motherboard controller.

For $30 am quite happy.

It’s hard to find any real con for this product. Maybe it will quit working on me too soon, but that’s not the experience I had with StarTech. I’m slowly becoming a loyal fan and remembering the brand when I talk to others about hardware-related topics.

I ordered another StartTech product, USB 3. 0 ExpressCard for my laptop. My expectation is I’ll see the same solid build, durability, reliability, ease of installation, and performance. So far, despite minor glitches (most of them have to do with non-automatic driver installation) I can recommend StarTech to anyone.

No complaints whatsoever about this card! Simple installation as with all PCIe installations. Drivers are automatically installed. Works as expected. The higher model with 4 dedicated 5 Gbps ports was tempting, but this one seemed to fit my use case.

Seems like a reliable line. Would buy another if I had another PCIe slot!.

I’m a video editor working with an HPZ820 and Avid editing software. and I’m working remotely. While I already have one USB 3 port, I need to constantly access video through various hard drives and USB3 is a great way to swap drive in the middle of a project.

SATA drives are great but the 5 gbps speed more than gives me the throughput I need. PLUS, I get 4 extra ports instead of just the one built in. EASY to install and no need for drivers! The price is wonderful and with this I’ve supercharged my relatively old computer to blast it up to 2020.

I found a 10-year old gaming motherboard+CPU in the trash one evening and figured it would be a better daily driver than the potato I’ve been using since high school. This card is but one of the old beast’s new organs.

I bought a cheaper one before and it let me down in many ways. All I can say is, do not buy cheap hardware. Get this one! You get what you pay for.

My computer’s built-in network connection was failing; I had an external 4-port USB hanging off the back of the computer; this was a perfect choice for me. The Home Essentials Direct price beat Office Depot by $10.

00, so I went with Home Essentials Direct. Physical installation was easy enough. I had a SATA power connector available so connected it. PRO TIP: The way the ports face, up and down, not sideways, means that it is possible to misalign the card so the connectors don’t quite fit.

I had to open my case, adjust the card slightly, attach a cable, and then tighten the screw. Avoid the extra step by attaching a cable or USB drive as you install the card to get the right alignment the first time.

Here is where it got interesting, but not an issue. This may be related to the fact that I run two computers and two monitors through a Dual Link KVMP switch. When I turned my computer back on, I was not sure it was booting up because neither monitor was working.

I could hear the computer working, so I just sat on my hands for about 2 minutes, which felt like 20. After two minutes, the computer rebooted itself, the monitors came on and I could see that the KVMP switch was being installed.

Everything has been working since then. I have had the card for about a week and it’s working great.

Pros: I need some USB 3 and a network adapter ports. I fitted the card and checked the logs. This showed it was working fine. I use Linux and having used it with various favours it worked out of the box.

Make use of power SATA supply. If you are short of connectors you will need add a Molex to SATA cable. Cons: Probably a bit to much to ask. I could done with a header for USB3.

This is a great PCI 1x card having both Gigabit and 3 usb 3. 0 ports all in one card. Problem comes in at installing drivers. Instruction manual doesn’t give you any clue as to what chip set drivers you are using (apparently their are 2 different drivers for both the NIC and USB).

So you end up having to play a guessing game as to what is what. Not a deal breaker but annoying to say the least.

I was initially disappointed in 165/90MB read/write speeds. After a LOT of research I came across a set of USB 3. 0 host controller reviews where they put the controllers in a graphics card x16 PCIe slot to get max performance.

Made no sense to me since card is x1. However, looks like many PC’s x1 slots are only running at 2. 5GTs, not 5. 0GTs per PCIe 2. x max speed. Put it in my x8 slot and bingo, 220/150! PUT THIS BABY IN A PCIe x4, x8 or x16 SLOT! Ignored CD, downloaded 1.

12. 18 driver from SIIG’s website. Bought a Sata power extension cable, but works ok without it (at least with only one SSD or thumb drive connected, didn’t test multiple devices at same time). (I’m not using this with a HD in an enclosure, which requires more power than a SSD.

Overall, a good 4 port card, with one port internal. just assume you’ll need to purchase a separate power adapter to run the card unless you have one entire free SATA power cable in your computer to reach the card.

The card will NOT operate correctly without the power cable being plugged in, so don’t think you can skip this. other note: I have two cards, and one computer automatically installed the drivers, but the other did not.

The CD AutoRun didn’t work, and I had to manually look for setup. exe on the CD. But once I found that and ran “set up,” everything worked.

Okay. and I intend to post this over on the CINE-RAID box I just bought. but if you are going to use this card in a Windows XP machine you will need to use the CD-Driver Disc that came with this add on card.

if you go to the SIIG website and download that newer driver. guess what? The card will not work when attaching a multi disc RAID enclosure. If you are like me. and always want the newest driver. HOLD ON STOP WAIT.

I cannot speak for the new SIIG driver on the website for anything but Windows XP sp3. I am simply saying that with the newer on line driver build. my XP machine would NOT recognize anything attached to this card.

it recognized the card itself. but it would NOT recognize devices that were subsequently attached to it. So use the driver disc that came with the card. and my advice would be to stash a copy of that executable somewhere else as I lose driver discs all the time.

Long story: I have an older motherboard with an early 3rd party USB 3. 0 chipset I’m using as a file server with external USB 3. 0 drives. The buggy chipset disconnected the drives all the time, requiring the controller to be disabled and re-enabled, or the system to be rebooted.

Annoying. So, I was looking for a reasonably-priced addon card. I saw this one had a chipset by NEC/Renesas, who have reputation for making reliable controllers. No problems installing it on Windows 10, and I haven’t had a single disconnect in a month of up-time.

Short story: Works great and reasonable price. Recommended if you need a couple USB 3. 0 ports and have a PCIe 1x slot.

Works perfect. I have an older motherboard (5 years old) and i was trying to get Kinect V2 to work on my system. I bought another PCI card which also used external power, but the Kinect V2 still did not work.

This card DID WORK! Now I am able to use Kinect V2 SDK on my system perfectly. Having just bought another card, i saw that by comparison, this card feels high quality in your hand with solid components.

Things click in place easily.

I needed a true internal UART serial port for some testing which was very latency sensitive, and I have had good results with Siig USB devices so I tried this card. It performed exceedingly well. The FIFO buffers are adjustable so you can throttle them down as desired to 16550 or lower levels, or if your application warrants leave the buffering turned up high.

Achieves throughput that I could not get from the ANKER adapter I had before. My motherboard’s controller is incompatible with Microsoft Kinect V2 which requires very high bandwidth. This controller allowed me to use it.

I bought this card mainly to fix the lack of USB 3. 0 support in my hackintosh which has an x79 chipset which does not natively support USB 3. 0 and the ASMedia controller it came with would not work reliably under macOS.

The version of macOS tested is 10. 13. 6. Ran with no additional configuration. I’m certain it will also work on Windows but haven’t tried yet. If you need more ports, Inatek also has a 5 port card which is not much more expensive.

This USB Controller uses the Fresco Logic chipset which has issues with the drivers that are included with Windows 8 and later. My computer blue screened anytime I was trying to access an external hard drive connected to this card with the Microsoft drivers.

I was able to fix this by using the drivers that came on the CD but it reduced performance. You should install the drivers from the CD or the manufacturer’s website even if your computer is running Windows 8 or later.

If you have an open PCI-e port this works assume without having to supply additional power to this board. It also supports 2 additional ports with the proper cables that needs to be purchased separately.
