20 Best Torque Wrench For Gunsmithing (2023 Updated)

Never owned a torque wrench before. just tightened things good and snug. Having a motorcycle that I have been doing most maintenance and repairs myself, came to a point where certain components (steering and wheel bearings) require torquing so now I own a torque wrench.

The Tekton 1/2 inch drive click torque wrench (10-150 foot lbs) has a good rating and is reasonably priced. It works nice and easy to handle and adjust the torque settings. Plastic storage box and instruction book comes with the wrench.

Well made product.

The box advertises that this tool has increments in one inch pounds but the scale is in 10 inch pound increments, so the the precision is only 10 inch pounds. 10-in pounds is a huge variation on a scale of 10 to 150 = 6.

6% of inaccuracy on top of the advertised +/- 4%. If they just put tick marks in between those 10 inch pound increments on the settings, this will be a much more accurate torque wrench.

This is a nice solid torque wrench. I has a look and feel of a precision tool like that of my micrometers (Starrett, Mitutoyo) and other machinist precision tools. The engraving for the scales are clear like my mic’s.

The locking mechanism is solid and precise. I have larger Craftsman torque wrenches (one I’ve had for 40 yrs and recalibrated) they work well and do the job, but this Tekton is far above them in fit, feel and finish.

A bit hard to read on lower scale and the memory needle seems to hit pointer needle meaning the reading is slightly higher than actual. Apart from that, a very well made and presented tool in case. Just a pitty they sent it all the way to me from USA to NZ in a large paper bag after asking for it to be wrapped properly.

Who knows how many times its been thrown around on its trip. Hence the 3 star rating. Come on guys. These are precision tools were buying after all.

Rebuilding a rear end gave me the excuse to add this tool to my toolbox. After looking around quite a bit I decided on this one based on the quality and cost. I used it to set the pinion preload in my axle and that is something you need to get right to ensure a long life to the rear end, from what I’ve read.

I am sure that I could have found a cheaper option but this seemed like a bargain compared to some of the more recognized brands on the market. In short a great tool and glad to own it.

Used for final torque on head cover gasket and water pump. Dial shows both current and max torque. It also measures in both directions. It does not ratchet, so you’ll need to hand tighten those fasteners first.

If the needle does not zero, you can adjust it by turning the bezel. Mine was calibrated out of box.

As a home mechanic that (thankfully) isn’t always under the hood of my car, I wanted a quality torque wrench that was accurate and didn’t lose it’s calibration quickly over time. The impetus for buying one was making sure that I did the brakes accurately on my wife’s car.

I have a larger 1/2 drive torque wrench for 50-250 ft/lbs but didn’t have anything that wend down to 20 ft/lbs. I didn’t want the brakes to fail for miscalibrated bolt tightening, leading to a fire-y death of my wife and kids.

Given that I would expect to use this tool maybe once every couple months or less, I really didn’t want to deal with the spring type of torque wrench that can lose its calibration over time and didn’t want to deal with having to send it in for re-calibration.

Thus, this split beam torque wrench. The 3/8 drive with the range of 20-100 ft/lbs worked great for the caliper pins and is also useful for making sure that the bolts for the differential and transfer case are to the right spec.

The smaller length is great for when i’m under the car and there’s not a lot of room to use the 1/2 drive torque wrench. I’ve also started using this for my oil drain plug instead of using the ol’ elbow calibration, and I was surprised to find that I was severely over torquing the plug.

which could have led to deforming the oil pan and ending up with leaks or whatever terrible things can happen by over-torque. I’ve been doing oil changes on my car since my dad taught me when I was a teenager, and have never used a torque wrench in 30 years, but now that I’ve started using it, I’ll probably never go back to “elbow calibration”.

The torque settings are easy to use, easy to read, and the wrench makes a loud audible click and also has excellent tactile feedback when you reach your setting. The case is nice, and really the best part is that I don’t really have to worry about this thing going out of calibration.

Very happy with this wrench. I wish I had bought it sooner.

This is a well made torque wrench which by design doesn’t need to be “unwound” prior to storage. There may be some that advertise greater accuracy but if you calculate out a 4% margin of error. is that really that important for your application? Most likely no.

It is easy to read the analog dial to determine the set rating, there is a convenient ft-lb/nm conversion chart, the clip keeps fingers from accidentally bumping the adjustment dial, the flex head does not have slop, and the blow-molded case is adequate.

If I were to change this I would want: -A socket release button. This is my biggest gripe -A version that had a dial in NM vs Ft-LB as this is what I generally work in Some reviewers stated their units were used when received.

Mine was new.

I really like not having to use a spring based clicker. This thing does not disappoint. I will be purchasing a couple more products from Precision Instruments, as i need a 1/2″ with a higher torque range, and possibly one with an inlb range.

Nice thing is, since these don’t really go out of calibration like a spring clicker, you can calibrate your spring clickers pretty well with this. or at least check their calibration. Dialing in the torque you want is easy as pie, though the lock might snap down and pinch you, i have avoid that thus far, but see how it can happen as is mentioned in other reviews.

These split beams are the bees knees when it comes to analog torque wrenches. It’s also capable of doing less than it’s lowest torque rating, but like all torque wrenches, they are only accurate from 20% of max torque, so the 20ftlb bottom end of this is because it’s inaccurate below that, though the dial reads below it (well down to 16ftlb).

This replaced a 65 year old Craftsman torque wrench purchased in High School and one purchased from Harbor Freight that I had no confidence in. Technology is wonderful.

The most important thing about a torque wrench is it’s accuracy. This torque wrench came with a calibration certificate and I have confidence in Gear wrench. The next important thing for me is the torque range.

I have a Honda Accord and the aluminum engine parts are fastened on the low side starting at 7 Ft-lbf. The spark plugs are thightened to 13 Ft-lbf. Torques for most engine, suspension, and brake are less than 75 Ft-lbf.

Basically, this wrench (5 -75 Ft-lbf) covers 90 percent of small and light truck repair work. One common task in automotive repair work is removing and installing the wheels. The spec for Honda wheel lug nuts calls for 80 Ft-lbf torque which is slightly outside the range for this torque wrench.

I probably torque the lug nuts to 75 Ft-lbf and then turn them another 10 or 15 degrees. The bolts involved in replacing the brake pads require less than 75 Ft-lbf. If I’ve have to to replace the brake rotors, I need to remove and install the brake caliper mounting bolts which requires torquing them to 80 Ft-lbf.

Again, this is also slightly outside the range for this torque wrench. At any rate, if you cannot afford to buy multiple torque wrenches, this is the one you have to buy.

After using without issue for 3 months, one of my technicians was applying torque to a bolt at 170 ft-lbs and the entire ratcheting mechanism broke free with no resistance to the force being applied.

We are lucky only minor damage was done. Could have resulted in a fall or other serious injury. Will be attempting to get a refund.

Gearwrench tools have come a long way over the years. Not everything they make is great quality, but for the most part, for made in China tools, they are adequate. Apex owns Gearwrench and basically everything they make is made in China or Taiwan.

Anyway this is the newer version of their torque wrench. Their older one was OK. I have been using the 1/4 version for several years now with no problems. I am an auto tech for a living, so quality tools at decent prices is important to me.

Gearwrench fits the bill for some things, not all. Good torque wrenches are expensive, and in my opinion, the perfect torque wrench does not exist in the everyday consumer world. This one is OK for the price.

If you work in a shop and have a Matco dealer, ask to see their new 3/8 flex head torque wrench. It is the same as this one. Apex is making all of their ratchets and torque wrenches now, as well as other things.

So Matco’s price is about triple the home essentials direct price for the exact same tool. But if you would like to see it in person before you buy it, ask your Matco dealer. So how is the quality/design of this wrench.

It’s not horrible. The main differences between this wrench and say a $500 Snap On wrench: This one is made in China. It is longer than some of the more expensive torque wrenches. This one is about 18 inches.

Also the ratchet head is much lower quality. A Snap On head is made in America and will be 72-80 tooth. Where as this one is made in China, and only 36 tooth. You don’t necessarily need a 72 tooth torque wrench, but it’s nice.

Also this is a locking flex head, with only 3 positions. How unfortunate. The markings on this wrench are clear, but still hard to read in certain lighting conditions. You will find yourself turning the wrench quite often to try and see the tiny measurements, no different than a $400 micrometer torque wrench.

The foot poind scale is in increments of. 5 foot pounds. The locking mechanism is a handy feature and much improved over the previous Gearwrench locking mechanism. The previous version slid side to side to lock, where as this one slides up and down, and locks much more firmly.

The accuracy is right about where it should be. I have compared it to co-workers Snap On wrenches, and it seems right on with theirs. So to sum it up, for a Chinese tool, this is a nice one. I do wish it was a few inches longer, and a finer tooth ratchet head, but for such a great price, I am satisfied with it.

If you’re trying to decide which torque wrench to buy, consider these other options as well. Precision Instruments makes a very similar wrench. The main difference between that one and this one is it’s made in America, and the flex head does not flex nearly as much as this one.

The Precision Instruments one only flexes about 7 degrees, where as this one is closer to 30 degrees. CDI torque wrenches are nice as well, and made in America. The CDI torque wrenches are the same as Snap On, with the only exception being the ratchet head.

CDI heads are made overseas and are only 36 tooth. The Snap On heads are made in America and are 72-80 teeth. Also I have yet to see a CDI flex head torque wrench. SO yes i would recommend this to anyone who can’t justify spending $500 on a Snap On torque wrench.

The only real negative about this wrench, is it is more of a hassle to warranty than a tool truck tool would be. Other than that, it’s great. You can buy 4 of these for the price of one Snap On.

Accurate as compared to my older Craftsman torque wrenches. Very useful torque range for assembling engines. Should last for years. Thanks!

So I know for starters this tool kit is inexpensive. Which is cool, but thats only if it works. I finally got the time to do my timing belt on my Cruze with a 1. 8L. The red gear holders are plastic, and I wasnt expecting that, but it was a low dollar tool so I cant complain.

Once I was ready to use them I realized that the curve of the tool isnt an exact match to the cam gears. I could use some force and get them to go on, but only one would fit at a time. Which is pretty useless.

I thought I almost had it, but soon realized I was shaving off the plastic against the metal gear. It was annoying. I ended up just doing it the old fashioned way and got it the timing all set. It may work better on the 1.

4 or 1. 6, but for the 1. 8 it isnt ideal.

Really does make a difference when mounting a higher end scope. Really! The problem is over torquing which puts pressure on the optics in the tube which then results in sub standard focus. At first I mounted a Leupold 8.

5-25X50mm L/R by “feel”. My first thought peering through the scope was; “Hell! This isn’t much better than the Vortex Crossfire ll that I just took off the rifle!” Did some research and decided to buy the in/lb torque wrench to properly mount the scope.

It still was much cheaper than having a gunsmith mount the scope. The difference was night and day! I can now plainly and clearly see my. 308 bullet strikes at 300 yards. Couldn’t do that before! The torque specs for my scope with steel rings is 20 in/lbs.

I had applied a great deal more than that with my sense of “FEEL” because I no idea what 20 in/lbs felt like. I can tell you now that 20 in/lbs is not very much AT ALL! Yup! It made this scope a long range beast.

This is a must have for torquing scopes or other optics and rails to specs. Take the guess work out of torquing your scope rings down. Peace of mind knowing that my expensive scopes are fastened down properly without any damage to the tubes.

Grab you one, you will be glad you did.

This is one quality split beam torque wrench at an unbeatable price with a true professional name. I work at RAM dealership and wanted to get one of these while they were in stock. The adjustment guard clicks strong, and covers the whole adjuster wheel.

More so the wheel isn’t terribly hard to turn and doesn’t spin freely (which I have seen on other “quality” torque wrenches), which is important because the guard doesn’t prevent the wheel from turning if it is loose! This fit in finish is immaculate, comparing it to my co-workers snap on torque wrench, they almost look identical! My coworker even said it looked exactly like his aside from the branding! I would highly suggest this product for anyone who works in a shop and always has wheels off.

Split beam torque wrenches save a lot of time and energy as setting them to minimum for storage takes a split second compared to a standard torque wrench. While these are accurate they are not meant for precise measurements as the indicator only goes in increments of 5.

(which is normal) All in all this is a superb product with a true professional name! Would highly recommend for shop use.

I have 6 other torque wrenches including digital, beam, and clicker with the handle adjustment. The digital is nice when the batteries aren’t dead but seems like every time I need it the they are dead.

I’m just turned 50 and reading glasses have become a thing. I loved my old clicker wrenches but I can see the setting marks on the handle so I’d need to get into good light with reading glasses to set them.

This split beam is so easy to set with the light twist of the knob. The markings are black on white background allowing me to read it without my glasses. The click on this wrench has a nice consistent feel, not very loud though.

I don’t work in a noisy shop so not an issue for me. The included calibration sheet showed the wrench was shipped within 1% of the setting, well under the 4% rating. I can guarantee I’ll never use my old clicker wrenches after buying this wrench, maybe my kids can use them for dodge ball practice.

So my coworker has the snap-on equivalent. And when I say equivalent, I should say the copy. There are their differences, but the morning I got it my other coworker genuinely thought I stole the other guy’s snap-on and polished it.

I kid you not. The head is a little thicker and it’s a little longer. The roller dial feels a little cheaper. The chrome scratches a little easier bc it’s softer. Of course, it is. It’s a $130 torque wrench that competes with ones 3-4 times that price.

Other than that, they feel the same. IMO, the icon’s click is nicer. The grip is also nicer. the Snap on’s is also pointy on the edges and kind of hurts. If you’re buying a snap-on torque wrench and it’s not a tech angle, you’re wasting your money.

There is no reason to buy the snap-on split beam over this. I’m not a fan boy of either. They both have their advantages and make great tools. I have many different tools from each company. But this is something Id say the icon takes the cake on without question.

(my only gripe is the case, and the fact that it does not fit in the top of a US general 5 drawer roller cart).

I planned on using this to spec spark plugs in my Porsche and BMW. They both call for around 20lbs-ft. On the Porsche (4cyl) it seemed super soft, but did click on 2, failed to click on the other, but I know I got above the range.

I did not pull them to make a second attempt, but chalked it up as my improper use because two require universals to access. The BMW (8cyl) is almost straight-on with margin to screw it up. This time I brought it to 15lbs and never felt a click on 3cylinders.

So I removed the tool, twisted back and forth a few times, locked it at 20 and got a click without any movement. So I have no idea what they are torqued to. I even tried NOT adjusting it from this setting when moving to the next cylinder, and then couldn’t get a click when I was well-above 20.

As an experienced aviation mechanic, I won’t say I’m calibrated, but have a pretty good idea what 20 should feel like. During this maintenance, I also swapped the trans pan/filter which call for 7lbs-ft install on aluminum bolts.

I never felt a click on about 7 of them, and one of the bolts even stretched out and split when I pulled it back out to inspect. I haven’t had a problem at higher specs, so I gave 3 stars. This is not a high-dollar instrument, but I did expect a little more consistency and reliability considering an error can cost a 10-20k engine replacement on these cars if the damage can’t be rethreaded.

I’ll keep this in the box for certain jobs, but will seek another option for such sensitive application, and anything under 30 lbs-ft. Probably will move to lbs-in for those specs under another brand.

As several others have said, the click this makes (at both minimum and maximum settings) is extremely hard to either hear or feel. If you are in your own home garage and it’s quiet, you should be able to detect it, but it may not be audible (at low settings).

It may only be something you feel as the handle gets to a point where it moves a few degrees without applying your force to the socket. At higher settings, this movement that you must very carefully watch for is accompanied by a very quiet click and you can also feel this more.

But you must be applying steady pressure at these moments. If you happen to get the click right as you are initially applying pressure after ratcheting back, you will likely not perceive it. It has to happen mid-swing.

So be very cautious. It’s also hard to be so cautious at max settings because it requires quite a bit of muscle force. This wrench broke a bolt of mine due to this issue (at low settings). I went to HF to swap it for another, and tried the second one right there at the curb on my car’s lug nut with the manager watching and it was clear to her that this click was extremely subtle.

I would not buy it again and may return it a second time. In addition, the dial adjustment for torque is too hard to turn, and it often gets stuck because the lock nut will jiggle back into the locked position while you are dialing in a torque setting.

The lock nut also does not fully lock the torque dial. You can still move it quite a bit when it is locked.

Rather than making a guess at the correct torque and the blade dangerously flying off I decided to purchase this torque wrench. Upon setting it up for use I was not real happy with the screw lock to keep it at the predetermined torque.

At my job, I use other torque wrenches that you pull down the locking collar and then rotate to the predetermined torque. With those ones, I have always seemed to accidentally pull down the locking collar and move the torque value during use.

I always found myself going back through to recheck the torque. With this one from Pittsburgh Pro, I noticed that I didn’t accidentally move the torque value during operation and was really quite pleased with that.

The F. A. T. wrench is easy to use and makes quick work on torquing screws to the proper torque specifications. A hand written calibration test was included in my set to provide confidence the torque settings are accurate for this product.

Universal bits are able to be used with the F. A. T. wrench which allows for flexibility on using the tool as the 10 bits set is adequate for most uses. However, there are times when a different bit is needed then what is provided with the set.

Overall high quality product for the price point and most have for mounting or adjusting scopes.

I’m sure this is a great wrench. The only problem is Springfield Armory shouldn’t tell you to buy it in order to mount the Hex Wasp unless of course you want to shell out an additional $50 to purchase a 72 piece set that contains the right piece to fit the screw.

Plus, the Hex Wasp comes with an Allan wrench that works just fine. Again, I’m not knocking Wheeler at all, I just think it’s very misleading for S. A. to suggest that you only buy the wrench with merely the 10 piece set.

The Hex Wasp requires a smaller bit which is not included.

Great tool for getting optics, scopes, mounts, and rings tightened just right. Or anything else that needs inch pound specificity. The plastic case sucks, though. Won’t stay shut on its own. I keep it closed with rubber bands.

This tool costs enough to come with a more secure case.

I bought this torque wrench for the amount of torque it could do and the length for ease when torquing 150 lbs or more model number CMMT99434 found it at lowes. I have used on 3 engines I’ve rebuilt and 3 brake jobs.

Craftsman is the way.

So far it is holding up well, and so are the bits. Xhunter warranty is fantastic so they will repair or replace in the event of any future issue. The price is reasonable for the fact it is sturdy and has the lifetime warranty.

The wrench itself is very simple to use and fits well in hand allowing easy torque application. I don’t understand how some other reviews stated that the bits don’t lock in place. All you have to do is press them in until they click.

The locked bits are easily removed without a tool, just pinch the tip and pull. It does not take much strength at all. The wrench is impossible to over torque if set to the required torque. The mechanism snaps to prevent further torquing instead of only giving a sound.

Im glad I chose the Vortex wrench. It seems to be everything Id hoped it would be! It appears to be real quality, very well built. I used it to mount a red dot sight, using two different torque settings.

It worked as it was supposed to. Its also easy to set the torque values.

This item is well made and easy to use. It has made it better to get the right tension on Scope Mount’s, and other attachments, without overtightening,or striping threads. One drawback, is the socket for screwheads is not magnetized.

Otherwise a great product.

I was so surprised at the exceptional quality of this torque wrench. It feels and works better than my Craftsman one which I was pleased with until it broke. The Tekton 3/8 drive torque wrench is easy to use.

Just set the torque and wait until the handle “clicks”. Then you have applied the proper torque to whatever it is you are tightening. Always store the wrench at the lowest torques setting. This wrench is a precision tool and I have used it many times with excellent results.

I expect that it will last me twenty years or better.

Nice wrench for the money. I have used it on a seadoo motor rebuild. And have another one waiting on parts. Always needed one but usually guess at it, so for this purpose I went ahead and bought one.

With the click type you have to be careful because if you don’t hear or feel the click and stop you WILL over tighten or break your bolt. this is great for small bolts. for larger ones you would need the 1/2 inch drive.

Don’t bother with this one guys, my bolt goes right through it at 50 yd. It’s just a block of Styrofoam with a plastic bag over it. Also, they put the shipping label right on the face of the bear. So it doesn’t even look nice.

This is a small torque wrench which is for smaller fasteners, such as brake lines and quite a lot of smaller fasteners in a car which require precision. I recently used it to check my valve cover bolts and also for a brake job.

To properly torque the brake lines, I could not use a socket, but instead used a crowfoot adapter at 90 degrees to the head of the torque wrench, which provided the same torque as using a socket. The quality of this tool is just amazing, as with the larger Icon 3/8”, which I also use.

While it’s a bit difficult to read the torque settings, the advantage is there’s no paint to wear off; the torque values are engraved into the stainless steel. It’s very easy to adjust torque settings and the quality is very noticeably better than the Pittsburgh torque wrenches and much better than my old Craftsman torque wrenches.

The only complaint I have is that the highest torque value of this wrench is just a few pound-feet lower than the lowest torque value of the larger Icon 3/8” torque wrench, and there are some fasteners in that range which I had to guess with.

Bit the bullet and bought this after frustration with bargain torque wrenches. Recommended by a master mechanic friend. The difference in quality is apparent the minute you pick up an Icon. Love the locking collar.

I needed to change the trans fluid in a Ram truck with the ZF8 transmission. This truck requires the replacement of a costly trans pan to replace the filter( it’s all one unit). The bolts are aluminum and after reading the horror stories of broken,over-torqued bolts due to cheap torque wrenches, I knew my aged Craftsman torque wrench had to go.

The bolts require a very low torque spec that is at the extreme low end of a ft/lb. wrench. I got the Icon wrench in the in. /lb style to be sure of the correct torque. Low and behold, no broken bolts, no leaks, no swearing.

An added bonus is using this for bike repairs that require in/lb or Nm values. I’ll be replacing all my other torque wrenches with Icon brand. It’s THAT nice of a tool.

I agree the numbers are difficult to read in low-light as other reviews mentioned. The numbers, however, are engraved which is much more durable (versus being laser etched). I was concerned with a higher ratcheting tooth count (90), versus competitors (72), about detecting a physical pulse feel and audible indication at lower-end torque settings.

This tool provides easy physical pulse feel and audible indication at lower-end torque settings of the tools range. It came with a Certificate of Calibration with incredible exactness over three ranges of set torque of 40, 120, and 200, both Clockwise and Counterclockwise.

The accuracy of the test equipment used was +/- 1%. The hard cover protective case with metal latch appears most durable. I purchased this early May 2021, and the Certificate of Calibration inside the completely sealed box was dated 09/07/2020.

I bought this to use re-gearing and rebuilding diffs. It’s 0-60 in#s and beam style, so it’s not spot on or fancy, but it’s good enough and never needs to be re-calibrated. I would suggest having a 1/4″ to 3/8″ adapter to make life easier.

I will lso be using this on my MX bikes. Shipped quick as always! Does not have a permanent storage box, doesn’t really need one though. I would recommend getting it.

This tool worked great while setting the bearing preload on my Ford 8. 8 in a new age GTO. The pointer was only slightly off to one side, but it was easily straightened. I verified the accuracy both directions when setting the bearings.

The price is a bit high, in my opinion, but there isn’t a good work around without it. Also, it came as a “Gearwrench”. maybe they own KD?.

After I received this tool, I immediately put it to work amd it did the job perfectly. It came to be being perfectly calibrated and ready for use. This is a very good quality tool that I would recommend to anyone who needs to measure such small values.

And not to mention it is a fraction of the cost of other similar products.

The quality of this tool is evident, the large diameter handle and heavy oblong shaft give it a robust feel. The adjustment dial clicks smoothly at each fine calibration, the downside is that the fine calibration window is in Newton-Metres, whereas Pound-Feet are common in North America.

The gross calibration scale window includes both N-M and lb-ft, and if you are looking for more precision, you can find conversion tables/calculators online. The wrench performed well in torquing wheel nuts on my vehicle to 80 lb-ft with a nice click release, however the standard length WERA sockets available as a set in store, in combination with the large diameter handle barely allowed the wrench to clear the vehicle fender.

A deep socket would have been a better option. This is clearly a quality professional grade tool, with the included calibration documentation.

This tool is very well made and justifies the price. Pull out the handle and adjust the torque 1 ft/lb at a time. Lock the handle back in and the torque is set. The 20″ handle gives you enough leverage to tighten the nuts.

I used this to change my tires and I could not be happier. With the build quality and ease of use, this tool should last me a lifetime.

It’s a beautiful wrench but what I didn’t realize is it only sets torque in the clockwise direction. If you have a FS MTB, you likely have pivots that tighten counterclockwise so this wrench will be useless and if you don’t know this, you will overtighten a bolt before you realize this.

No more playing with “L” shaped wrenches. The ‘t’ handle is great. No worry about over or untightening. The wrench releases at the inch-pounds as described. Nice little tool to keep in your bag and bench.

Another great product from Warne. This little torque driver make setting up you optics simple and precise. No more stripped out screws or bases; equal pressure on the scope tube for better attachment.

While it seems like a good product, the torx tip is permanent so it’s not usable on anything BUT a torx head screw. If the tip were removable, I have a set of tips that would fit this and make it workable on my scope screws which are all hex head.

I’m sure it’s a good tool, it’s just extremely limited in who can use it.

I bought this torque wrench to install cam retainer bolts and intake manifold bolts. I set the wrench to 15ft/lb for both and it managed to snap off one of each bolt. I tried it with a lower setting (11ft/lb) on a radiator clamp bolt and it snapped that too.

Absolute garbage.

It’s a nice looking wrench, but I’m not sure about the accuracy. After setting the torque and locking it in place, it does not hold the setting and I need to keep messing with it in order to tighten multiple bolts.

I’ve been wrenching for 3 decades and never had my own torque wrench. This is my first one, and I’m liking it. Used it to make sure my transmission rebuild held together. I’m now realizing that I have been overtightening bolts for a very long time.

I purchased this dial torque wrench at a steep discount. This is one of the best dial wrenches available at the price. Plus the tool was brand new! It wasn’t sitting in a warehouse for two years. The manufacture date was only two months prior to when I received it.

This is the one I bought after I bought the cdi torque wrench and ended up throwing it away. This seems accurate, easy to use and well made. Having the dual scale is much more important then I realized when I bought the CDI one.

This one is MUCH better.
