20 Best Tires For Toyota Highlander (2023 Updated)

2006 RWD ford explorer. Old tires were squirrly on a nice day. Only drove this vehicle on dry days. Thought I’d try a set of winter tires and bought 4 cooper true north. Whoa. Night and day better traction in wet and ice snow conditions.

It handles better than my 4wd yukon with these winter tires. 2 deg right now, snowing, ice everywhere and just got my kid to his game. Had to share. You want a set of phenomenal tires for these conditions, These are them.

I bought these tires and had them installed on the 27th of September and on the 2nd of October we got 40 cm of snow. This is probably the first time I’ve guessed right about installing my winter tires in a timely fashion.

I chose the Cooper tires based on experience with Discoverer M+S tires that I’d used on a Toyota FJ for over a decade. My new tires, Discoverer True North, are on a Subaru Outback. I’m impressed with the grip and control the tire offered in accelerating and stopping on ice and in deep snow.

They are also significantly quieter on dry pavement than all but a very expensive set of Bridgestone tires I had on a BMW I’d previously owned. My installer told me this was the only set of these tires he’d sold.

That’s a pity because they seem to work very well. I bought them based on past experience with Cooper tires and a very positive report from Consumer Reports. My decision seems to have been a good one.

One of my very best Walmart experiences. the tires arrived in a timely manner, I was contacted immediately, I schedule an appointment to get them installed, the installation took only about an hour, the Service Techs were professional, clean and courteous.

As for the performance of the tires. I was almost ready to sell the vehicle because the all season tires, with < 8k miles on them, performed so terribly on snow and ice (NE WI) that I thought I couldn't use just a front wheel drivev SUV.

These snow tires are remarkable. Since having them installed I’ve been through a 3 inch and a 6 inch snow fall and it’s just like driving my four wheel drive truck. The difference in throttle, brake and steering control is amazing.

Yes putting four new snow tires on isn’t cheap but it’s well worth it when you consider the cost of just one trip into a ditch or another vehicle.

I ordered 5 replacement tires for my Dodge Dakota R/T as these are one of only two brands still making this size tire. Price was very reasonable and tires arrived in timely manner. Stock fitment and so far a good ride.

My leased 2017 Subaru Outback came with these tires. Although I had no problem with tire performance in snow, these tires wore down in less than 30,000 miles to the point where they have to be replaced before the leased car can be returned.

Also, they are far too expensive for the poor tread wear. (I am an extremely conservative driver who normally gets around 50,000 to 60,000 miles from a set of tires. ).

Bought these for my wife’s SUV because it was all the dealership had in stock at the time that would fit! These tires wore out fast and have to be the worst tire I have ever owned for wet weather driving! They hydroplane like crazy and are so noisy I need to turn up the radio to drown out the noise! Nothing good to say about these tires other than glad they wore fast soi can replace!.

I’ve only put about 500 miles on these since getting them, but so far, these tires are fantastic for the cost! I switched from Falken Wildpeak A/Ts on my Jeep Renegade Trailhawk because I wanted something better for the long-distance travel I do, and I haven’t been disappointed.

These tires are fairly quiet and grip very well – my ride quality improved immediately after having them installed. I can’t attest to snow/rain handling yet, but the tread is so deep on these that I imagine it’ll handle just fine.

This tire is rated in the top 3 in its class by Consumer Reports, and Walmart. com had the best online price ($76 each). The CR rating is rated “good” for wet and ice braking and “very good” in all other categories.

It has an amazing treadwear estimate of 80-90,000,000 miles. It is made in the USA by the Korean Hankook Company. I bought these 4 Hankook tires to replace a set of Cooper tires that had a belt separation issue after only 10,000 miles (no more Cooper tires for me).

My Hankook tires are too new to review performance or endurance, but they ride smoothly and quietly, and they handle well. A few things to remember when buying tires at Walmart. com and installing them at Walmart Automotive stores: The website and the stores are completely different businesses — the stores cannot order these tires for you.

You buy them online and have them delivered (free) to your Walmart Automotive store. The Walmart stores in my area do not answer their phone (main or automotive). In this case I called at least a dozen times and waited 10-30 minutes ring time on each call.

I reached a human only three times — the first two times I was put on hold for 30 minutes (they never returned to the phone), but the third time I was able to make an installation appointment for the first slot the next day (the store is supposed to call and offer an appointment when the tires are delivered, but they did not).

Installation took 2 hours. A dynamic balance is included in the installation fee. There is also a small disposal fee (in addition to the small recycle fee you pay when you buy the tires). Check the tire pressure after installation to make sure it matches your owner’s manual pressure.

Other than the communication problems with the Walmart Automotive store (if you want to speak with them, go to the store and wait in person), this is a great tire at a great price, installed by friendly (in person) Walmart Automotive staff.

These are quite possibly the best passenger car tires I’ve ever purchased! I put much larger Hankooks on my motor-home in 2019 and was really impressed, so I decided to get a set for my Honda CRV. They were nearly perfectly balanced without any weights and roll smoothly and quietly.

I got the original set of 4 in 06/2019 and was very happy. I had Honda do a 4 wheel alignment immediately after having the tires installed. During summer 2020, one of the rear tires picked up a big staple.

I tried to plug it twice. The hole was kind of a gash as opposed to a small nail hole and it was very near the sidewall so. neither plug worked for very long. I decided to buy 2 new identical tires (11/2020).

Although not the normal recommended location, I had the new tires put on the front and the older ones rotated to the rear. I put the remaining 18 month old tire as a spare. I mention this because I did not have a new alignment done and my experience has been that moving tires around too much can cause alignment and driving problems.

There was zero difference from when all of the 06/2019 tires were on the car in their original locations with a fresh 4 wheel alignment! That was impressive. Before the new 11/2020 tires were installed, I had the tech check the tread of the 06/2019 tires for depth and wear.

There was absolutely no abnormal wear and the depth was nearly 11/32 – barely worn after about 14,000 miles (new tires were 11 /32)!! The only odd thing was the date codes. The tires purchased in 06/2019 had a Date Code of 1916 – manufactured the last week of April, 2019 – in other words, only a couple months out of the factory when shipped and installed.

The 11/2020 tires shipped to Walmart from Tennessee, and I thought maybe they were coming directly from the factory and would be minty fresh. They ended up having date codes of 1944 – end of October, 2019 — Only a few months after my 06/2019 tires were installed.

That is not a major issue and may be because the size is a bit of an odd-duck at this time. I heartily recommend Hankook tires, whether smallish ones for your passenger car or big honking truck tires for your big honkin’ truc.

Or motor-home.

Tirebuyer. com, you have exceeded my expectations. I was looking for a 4th tire to buy and have installed only vehicle–so I wanted it to match the existing tires. It can be hard to find the exact manufacturer and model at “brick and mortar” establishments.

These are the 3rd set of Falken snow tires I have used on cars in my household. They are a great value tire which perform as well as much more expensive ones from other brands, such as BFG Blizzaks that I have used before.

Most any others at this price are just not worth a Falken.

Havent hit the snow season here in Northern IN but the tires are great thus far. Beefy treads, nice ride thus far. 2018 Subaru Outback.

Too early to do a good review, but so far I like it. Quiet, good grip, deep groove so I think it will be a great winter tire. Price was under $100

After breaking these in a bit, I have come to love these tyres. They aren’t too expensive, and handle quite well in the wet weather we have here in Queensland, both on and off road. They are also great for noise levels, as my previous tyres were quite noticeable at 80kmh+, but these only really start making noise at 105kmh on highways.

They also have a better climbing ability than my previous tyres allowing me to go up loose terrain in 2wd, rather than having to go to 4wd like my previous tyres, which had a more aggressive tread pattern.

They also handled towing a car trailer with an old V8 Holden much nicer, as they kept my car a bit more stable, resulting in the trailer also being more stable. Have yet to do extreme off road driving with these yet, but seeing how they have handled what I have thrown at them so far, I don’t see any real issues.

The service from tire buyer is and has been great every time I have used the, and I have had great luck with previous tire purchases. I have purchased three sets of tires through tire buyer, and just to be clear, the service this time is not the issue.

I purchased a set of Yokohama Geolander A/T’s LT285/75R18 and this is were the issue was. These tires flexed so much that it made the vehicle feel so unstable that it was extremely uncomfortable during cornering or any small turn at speed, just changing lanes on the highway was unsettling.

I use my truck to tow my camper a lot during the summer, and I can not even imagine how it would feel with a 30 ft RV behind me. I only had the tire on my truck for 401 miles and I could not handle the sway the tires caused any more, so am sending them back and will purchase a set of Falkens which I had previously and should have just stayed with them.

The return process has been easy so far, they hardest part is waiting to get the tires swapped to send the Yokohamas back, thank God I kept my old ones. Tire buyer, great service all the way around, Yokohama Geolander A/T not so much.

Highly recommend using tire buyer to anyone, just do your research on the tire prior to purchase.

Just replaced the Goodyear Wrangler tires that were factory installed on my 2015 Ford 150 xlt Supercrew 62,400 miles. I probably could of got another 3000 miles but ended it early. My truck rides like a 1976 Cadillac.

Smooth ride and very little road noise. I rarely put heavy loads in the bed of my truck but do tow a 17 ft Boston Whaler ( 2500 pounds est) average 4 times a year. Hence I replaced the vehicle with the same newer version of the Goodyear tires.

I am sorry to have to buy new tires. I have 2015 f150 supercrew. These tires never gave me an issue and I have 56k on them and still have some tread. I would run them another 3k but I had a puncture in the one and the tire shop can’t seem to deal the patch, so I’m forced to get new tires since I’m not dealing with them every 8hrs to pump them up.

I’m sad to have to do that since there is some more tread to be worn. FYI I do run my tread low to get my monies worth and I don’t have inspection for another 4 months. The 2015f150s are lighter than the other trucks and I just put a high cap on it about 35k so I’m not expecting to get that much out of the next set.

For the price compared to the better competition I’m probably gonna go with these again. Like $50 more for maybe another 10k. Doesn’t seem worth it though the others have better traction. I’d like to try different brands.

Recently changed tires on wife’s Expedition. OEM tires were Michelin which were great. So we didn’t want to sacrifice any ride quality or add road noise. The Wranglers were alot less and perform just as well.

And add an improved sidewall design which looks better. I would definitely recommend.

I have this set installed on a 2010 Jeep JK which is lifted. I used to run Goodyear MTRs but decided to try Toyo which my friend recommended. Now, I will never buy anything BUT Toyo. The tires are so well balanced even for 35s, the ride is very good on highway along with directional stability.

No wondering with these OC MTs. Offroad – traction is great in sand, mud and snow. I rotate my tires (5 wheel rotation) every 6K miles by hand. I do this every time I change oil and the wear is SO even.

If you don’t rotate and you get uneven wear – that’s a you problem. If you don’t get your wheels balanced – that’s also a you problem. Treating these tires properly will make them last a long time. I just got a JT Gladiator and will be putting Toyos on it as well.

My JK needs a new set as well so more money for tires and in this case – Toyo. These tires have been through the Black Rock Desert, Alabama Hills, Coyote Flats, Panoche Hills – BLM land and performed perfectly.

I was looking for a set of aggressive mud tires. After looking around I decided to go with a set 35×12. 5r17s on my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. Installed these February of 2012 with 100k on the truck. I have had these through 2-3 foot snow drifts, gone through some pretty nasty mud holes and towed way more weight than my truck is rated for and have never had an issue with the tires.

They do everything a mud tire is supposed to do and some things a mud tires shouldn’t do. It has done everything very well. When I bought these tires I was warned that they will only last 30-40k due to the aggressive tread pattern.

With just over 80k miles on them them now I feel like I have got my money’s worth. They are starting to show signs of age with some weather cracks, the front tires are starting to chop a little but not bad.

Mostly due to a lack of tire rotations. I have recommended and bragged about these tires often. I would strongly recommend these to anyone looking for a mud tire. If you are wondering yes they do make some noise, I feel like they are on the lower average of the mud tire world for noise.

Yes I did notice a decrease in fuel economy but I went to a larger tire from the factory size. Yes I did notice a steering difference but only until I figured out what air pressure to run the tires at.

50psi was the sweet spot on my truck lower pressure cause a wondering feel at high way speed higher pressure made the ride feel rough. I never really noticed a braking feel change tho. I hope this helps someone make a decision on these tires.

I bought these tires (37-13. 50-R17) hoping for the best. I knew when the tire shop balanced them they were going to be great. It took very minimal weight to balance them. The guy said they were as round as a Michelin street tire.

They are awesome! I rotate every 3000-3500 miles. I have 25K miles on them and they look great. No doubt I’ll get 60K+ out of them. I use my truck for daily driving, work and off road. They worked flawlessly on the trails at Uwharrie National Forest and others.

You will not be disappointed!.

From factory to these I’ll say for both wet and dry conditions these grab the pavement better, they handle better in cornering and the overall ride comfort is smooth. Road noise is minimal and I love the way they look on my 1500 Ram.

Personally I am big on tread pattern so right away that sold me on these along with pricing. Seems to move water well at some of my higher speeds in rainy conditions for more rubber to surface. I do feel that they wear faster than some past brands and its tough to find them in stock at local shops.

All considered I’d definitely purchase these again.

I bought a used 04 Ram 1500 4X4 recently that is equipped with these Cooper Discoverers. The truck has 98K miles on it and no handling or suspension issues I can detect. I don’t know the actual miles on the tires.

The front tires have a lot of tread and the back pair have some wear. I have no idea if all four tires were installed on the truck at the same time or one pair at a time. I can’t accurately report on wear characteristics not knowing more about when they were replaced of course.

The ride is good and smooth. With the meaty tread pattern, you get some noise (hum). It isn’t terrible, but you can hear it at low speeds driving around town with the radio off. Not so much noticeable noise at highway speeds.

Handling isn’t bad. The tread really wants to grip when turning at low speed, such as maneuvering in parking spaces in a parking lot. Wet traction is OK. If I romp on the truck at lower speeds on wet pavement, it will easily fishtail in 2WD.

The truck has a 5. 7L Hemi, so it has plenty of torque. A few years ago I owned a new ’05 Hemi Ram QC with 20″ Good Year Wrangler HP tires. They had very poor traction, much worse than these tires. The rear end got loose much easier.

I could make the truck go down the street sideways with those tires on wet pavement if I got on it hard from a dead stop. Once I accidently spun it all the way around on a street that had a couple inches of water standing on it.

OK, maybe it wasn’t a total accident! Both trucks have/had the 3. 92 sure grip rear end ratio for towing trailers. So they had the same drive trains but with the 05 being a quad cab/short bed and the 04 a regular cab/short bed.

I drove the 04 Ram on the interstate for about 100 miles in rain the day I bought it. It cruised fine at 70 mph in the rain. I thought the tires gripped well. I think this tire is a decent enough tire and it should be fine in light snow.

It’s a much better tire for handling in adverse weather conditions than the GY Wrangler HPs that were on my other truck. I might look for a tire with a less aggressive tread pattern in the future as I don’t plan to drive in bad weather that much and like quiet.

If you want a tire that will do snow, rain and dry pavement all relatively well, this is probably a good choice for you.

Cooper Tires will not authorize their warranty if purchased through Walmart. com. I purchased my Cooper Discoverer HT Plus’s through Walmart. com, because I was very limited on options in my town of where to get Cooper Tires.

Now, two years later and after multiple failed attempts by Walmart to fix my leaking tires, Walmart claims I have manufacturing defects and to seek out my warranty. Cooper Tire of course blames Walmart.

Bottom line: I have wasted numerous hours of my life only to find that Cooper Tire will not authorize my warranty because it can only be authorized through a Cooper Tire dealer, and Walmart. com is not a dealer.

Also, Walmart stores are not Cooper Dealers so they also will not stand behind the warranty. The best option I was given by Cooper Tire is to purchase a new $800 set of tires then send in my old tires for review and possibly send me back a prorated return only if they find a manufacturer defect which they have basically already told me isn’t likely.

I don’t know if Cooper Tire will stand behind their warranty if their tires are purchased elsewhere, but my situation has been awful and I would highly recommend not purchasing Cooper Tires based on their poor customer service and unwillingness to authorize a warranty claim.

It felt like my RWD ranger was a 4×4. The high amount of Sipes and snow groove technology is really evident in the tire. These tires hug the road and I have noticed big difference in shortened braking distance.

I would put them up against a Michelin tire any day of the week. You cannot go wrong with having these tires on your vehicle.

They look and feel and drive like light-truck tires, and that’s not at all bad. A little road noise is noticeable on the highway, but the peace of mind is preferable to a harder tire that might be more quiet.

I’ve tested them in a Top 10 all-time snowstorm in Duluth, MN (post Thanksgiving 2019, 24 inches in 24 hours), and they did very well maintaining traction during turns, starting, stopping, and tracking straight in several inches of snow.

The roads were really horrible even after a day of plowing, but the tires made everything stress free even while the plows struggled to keep up. When it came time to actually break free from the snowbank where my driveway used to be, I don’t know if I would have made it out without these tires.

They did spin a little, but instead of spinning, heating up, and smoking like regular all-seasons, they instead sucked the snow into the tread, hooked up, and got me going with 6–8 inches of snow underneath my vehicle (and thus directly behind the front wheels).

I have no AWD. The tires did all the work. The difference in winter performance over regular, all-seasons is noticeable, to me at least. The FWD vans I have driven generally do well in snow, but often feel sketchy/out of control due to their harder rubber tires.

This is the biggest difference I notice about the Evolutions, and really all snow tires—the softer rubber plus the tread really do work. On the interstate, they tend to start to howl a little above 65 mph.

I don’t notice the noise as much at 45–55 mph on county roads where I normally drive. If I had to drive hundreds of highway miles on dry pavement every week for work, for example, I’d probably chance it with softer all-seasons.

But since I use the interstate sparingly, I’m all in for the winter rubber. It remains to be seen how well they wear. I hope to get two or three winters out of them, November to March, but we’ll see.

Ideally you should have an extra sets of wheels to put these tires on and run them for the winter season and then remove them to store for next year. They seem to wear pretty fast and they may not be useful for the following winter if you leave them on all year.

I’ve been driving on all terrain tires for over 30 years and purchased dozens of different brands along the way. The Continental Terrain Contact is now my go to all terrain tire! I’ve just installed my second set on a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek.

I live in the Appalachian mountains where every day driving is winding roads, often gravel/dirt, with occasional snow and post thaw slime, The Terrain Contact AT’s have never let me down! There has never been an occasion on pavement or the worst of rain or dirt road conditions, that I have blamed this tire for my driving errors.

These are by far the quietest all terrain tires I have ever owned. In 33,000 miles of driving on the first set not a single flat! Compare that to 4 punctures (all gravel) on the weak Geolanders that came standard with the Crosstrek.

These tires ride smooth and I’ve had no balance issues with them (I rotate every 5k) The added durability of these tires means added weight, so I’ve lost about 3 mpg, but well worth it for the confidence the Terrain Contacts give me in my daily driving environment.

Was looking to replace the OEM Wrangler radials. They had about 50% read with 19K miles but I spend enough time off Hwy to warrant something less susceptible to punctures. I considered LT up grades but decided against it as I only town a utility trailer or a light aluminum boat so I don”t need the extra belts and sidewall stiffness (and the weight).

They ride like and sound like street tires for the most part. We ere cautioned they might be a little slick initially but I drove it home in the rain and had no problems. Only have 400 miles so far but they ride well, look good and I believe they will give good service on dirt & gravel.

If there is a negative later on I’ll update this review. They could rate a 5 – just not enough time on the road yet (hunting season went south due to forest fires). As of now, I’d buy them again.

I had an appointment at a tire shop the next day. My wife wanted some “beefy tires” for her Tacoma. I did some research online and was even more confused about what type of tires to buy. I initially wanted some continentals but was not sure if I was making the right decision.

I came Accross tire buyer’s website and came across some Mickey Thompson tires that were the same price as the tires I was going to purchase at the tire shop the next day. After calling tire buyers 800 number I was shown how to compare the tires on the website.

It was really easy to do and it even included a description of the warranty. I was very impressed with my overall experience. I placed my order for the continental’s. In the end I purchased the brand I originally wanted.

When the tires came I went to have them mounted. The attendant at the tire shop said, “you got some high quality tires. ” That made me feel good. Thank you for everything!.

These are great tires, very smooth ride and quiet for my Ram 1500 truck. Had Falken tires before and these should last me a long time. I would highly recommend these for your truck and/or SUV. Safety is paramount for my family.

I would also highly encourage that the tires be re-balanced and rotated as recommended by your service team to ensure an even wear on the tires.

These tires were purchased for a 2wd truck project where I was using Falken Wildpeak A/T tires on the back and wanted something for the same brand but with similar sidewall and a less aggressive tread for the front.

I’m glad I found these on ebay because the local tire store couldn’t get them through their normal suppliers. These fit the bill in every way for my project.

Have only had these tires for about 3 weeks and have just driven them on the highway and city streets, but really like them so far. They balanced well from the tire shop, they grip well around corners and they look great.

I went with the raised letters out and it gives a bit more of an aggressive look to a highway tire. Only reason that I’m not giving 5 stars at this point is because I just haven’t used them in any adverse conditions (rain, gravel, etc), but there is absolutely nothing on the ‘con’ side at this point.

I had a set of 35×12. 50R20 put on my 15’ GMC Sierra crew cab 4×4 1/2 ton from the dealership. These tires have lasted me 82,000 miles. I know others have claimed unreasonable tread wear, I believe that is mainly due to running max or near max air psi, too narrow of a wheel or improper rotation.

I would normally rotate a tire like these every 3000 miles but with the newer vehicles lasting 10,000miles between oil change, thats when I decided to rotate my tires and it worked great. I would recommend more often on the heavier vehicles.

I also run 30psi all the way around. I have pulled loaded car haulers and my boat with no issues. If your going to be pulling 5000lb plus loads I would recommend 40+ but we’re talking about a sub 8000lb vehicle on 10ply tires, there is absolutely no need to run 50+psi in these tires unless pulling very heavy loads.

Also contributing to a long life span I run a 12” wide wheel allowing the tire to set “flat” instead of having it pinched up on a 9” wheel causing the center tread to wear unevenly. With this combination they wore very evenly with no signs of chopping.

It also allows for a very smooth and quiet ride. At this psi the tires handle very well in rain, mud, snow and even icy conditions given the driver is knowledgeable and cautious of these conditions. Everyone already knows they are great looking tires, and I am blown away by there performance.

The only negative is they are unfortunately heavy and effect fuel economy, but if you are looking for fuel economy you wouldnt be driving a 4wd vehicle with MT. Definitely worth the loss in mpg for the longevity and performance.

Also it would be nice if they had a 44-49” option in a 16”+ wide for the more modified off road trucks. There would be a substantial market in those ranges for the offroad guys and gals. Great job Toyo!.

I purchased the Toyo M/T’s back in 2014 (33×12. 5×20). I am almost at 80K on them and there is still tread and life. They are one of the best looking aggressive tread designed tires (for a 4X4) on the market with the standard & quality to back it up.

Most of my driving is on the street, but with kids that surf & snowboard I have experienced their superb handling in sand & snow. In fact, I have rarely had to rely on the 4 wheel drive because the Toyo MT’s “grab and throw” so well.

I do rotate every 5K-7K; & I’ll definitely purchase again! My only debacle: Will I try the new ATIII’s this go around?? Thank you Toyo!.

Put a set of these Pirelli Scorpions on my daughters 2017 Tacoma. This all weather tire makes for a great ride in her Urban/suburban environment. Expect only 50,000 miles for wear.

Bought these for my Toyota Tacoma. I commute 140 kms round trip every day from a small town in Ontario to a larger city in the GTA. Everyday I felt confident that no-matter-what the elements would throw at me these tires would do the job and get me through.

Great winter tire, good traction and little road noise. Keep in mind that you are starting with 10/32” tread where most others are 12/32” to 13/32” (265/65/R17). These tires will wear more quickly. Also, make sure your wheel alignment is within specifications before putting these tires on your vehicle.

My alignment was off slightly and I only got 20,000 Kms out of them.
