20 Best Switch Single Player Games (2023 Updated)

I preordered this game before it launched. I got the Savini Jason. When your playing this game, as a Jason, naturally its time to clap some cheeks. The issues with this game occured more so after the lawsuit they faced.

People troll, lobbied up people giving out random players locations to win, people found ways to cheat the game, cheat the system by sitting in glitches the whole 20 minute match. They took away the dedicated servers so now if the host quits the game the whole lobby closes.

Its annoying we still have bugs, glitches, problems, etc. When I play and I am in the zone, peeps will close a lobby because they died, the way they died, trash talk you to death, assult you verbally, etc.

It is overall a very good game if they continue the upkeep for it. They had another in the works but ended up getting hit with another lawsuit if they continued, which sucks. This game is best played with 8 friends you know or LFG lobbies instead of multiplayer lobbies.

I have heard about the Friday the 13th game since back when it was first announced. When they finally released a Switch version, I had to pick it up. The majority of the game is online. There is a single player campaign where you play as Jason in scenarios with objectives (kill the counselors without being seen, throw someone into the fire, etc) and you can replay them over and over to try to complete all of the achievements and earn points you can use to unlock new costumes, weapons and skills.

Just note. there is no single-player experience where you can play offline as a counselor. You are strictly stuck with Jason. The development team has stated that getting the AI correct for Jason was impossible and would have made the game feel broken, so they stuck to only giving you control of Jason.

However, online is a completely different story! You can join lobbies or get randomly paired into a lobby for a quick match. Only one person will be assigned Jason and the rest are counselors. I honestly don’t know who I prefer to play as more online as both Jason and the counselors have their own sets of skills and gameplay styles.

As a counselor, you can choose to work together or try to play on your own. There is voice chat so you can talk to others and try to form strategies. sometimes you need to get gas and find the car keys so you can start the car and escape with your friends.

You may also choose to radio for the police and try to survive until they arrive. All of these options make the counselor fun and then being hunted by Jason adds terror the entire time. you never know where he will pop up! All in all, I bought this game for $20 and then used a $5 reward, so I ended up paying $15 and feel it’s well worth it! If you are on the fence, hold off on a good sale as I think you’ll be in for a real treat!.

I could probably come up a lot of adjectives to describe Friday the 13th, but Ill settle for just one: BROKEN. It is indisputably the most buggy game Ive played in years. Since it was released last year, Gun Media developers have attempted to patch the game with updates addressing an array of game-breaking bugs.

Among these include glitches that let players teleport to the rooftops, get pinned underneath piers, and murder your own teammates, the latter which led to widespread griefing. If you play as Jason, expect just as much frustration.

In the middle of a match playing as Jason, my buttons completely quit working other than the joystick, so I could only play hide and seek with everyone instead of murder them. When Jason actually does work, chances are good youll kill a counselor and their body will turn into a ragdoll and rocket into the air because their physics engine is a joke.

Staying connected to a match is more than a challenge. The servers do not attempt to find another host from the available connections when a host leaves the game (unlike most other multiplayer games).

Your game will end abruptly and youll lose all the XP you worked hard to acquire. This happens very, very often. Even without the outstanding bugs, there are some frustrating gameplay mechanics that could be better.

Hiding from Jason is useless since he has the ability to see buildings where people are hiding and if it isnt a huge lodge he will easily find you. If its a tent or outhouse then youre screwed. When it works its a fun game that keeps the adrenaline pumping.

The developers have promised a single player update later this summer but since its nearly an entire year later Im thinking thats still in alpha (I dont think its ever going to be released). As it stands this is not a $40 title (current price at most retailers) and is probably worth $20 tops.

The graphics are not really that good for a game released in 2017. Gun Media has been aware of bounding box glitches for most of the games retail lifespan but as a counselor it is still (as of Feb 2018) possible to climb on top of bookshelves and rafters out of Jasons reach.

They seem to fix one thing and break three other things. If you can withstand some occasional frustration, this can be a fun game.

BUY THIS GAME! This is by FAR the BEST GAME ever! It’s absolutely beautiful. From the amazingly gorgeous music to the vibrant colors and effects, we as an entire family were glued to our tv for weeks taking turns playing this game.

I can’t explain that it’s unlike any other game out there. The teamwork and planning without any timers or stress is so much fun. We absolutely loved it and are so sad that it’s over. We are starting it again! The music alone is just out of this world.

Every aspect and layer of this game is otherworldly and beautiful!!!! You will not regret it!!.

What a delightful puzzle game. The mood and graphics of the game is wonderful and makes for fun game for players of any age. There’s very little dialog in the game and certainly not by the two yarn characters you can play but the relationship between them during these challenges adds to the overall story.

My younger kids (6 & 8) have a great time cooperating and discovering new ways to solve puzzles, my 9 yr old steps in once and a while to solve some of the more complicated moves and I love how you can cooperate to complete a challenge or merge together when it’s easier to accomplish a task solo or have one player take over to help the other through a difficult part of the path.

The musical score and mood of the game is excellent and keep players engrossed in this world.

This was a fun platformer to play. Unravel two is more fun to play than Unravel as the sequel is more strait forward with hints and easier game mechanics. I do wish there were more story levels to play though as this game is short.

There are challenge levels available. However, these levels are much more difficult and were hard for me to play. I do think this game is worth buying when it is on sale, but not at the full $20 list price.

The digital purchasing system through Best Buy was very easy to use and I had no problems.

Sonic Forces is the type of game that puts you on a watchlist. If you only play like one or two Sonic games before and don’t care about basically anything in your games, it’s fine, but for people who do love Sonic at least the slightest bit, this game is trash.

The game has no substance to it. In the Sonic (he’s not modern, he’s just Sonic) and Avatar stages, the 3D parts are so shallow that quite a lot of the 3D parts you can beat without barely pressing anything.

There’s so much automation that it shouldn’t even be there, but there’s so little of the 3D (at least in the Sonic stages) that it just becomes another 2D filled rehashed, which at that point a new Sonic Rush game should’ve been made.

The Avatar stages are kinda neat since the customization options is only real rewards you get for S-Ranking stages, but they really don’t do much and are also pretty shallow. Sometimes there’s a double boost section in some of the stages, and these are so automated, that you don’t even have to press the button at all, and you’ll still do it just fine.

Classic Sonic is also back and he’s totally shoehorned in. Just comparing it to Generations, his level design is so plain and boring and doesn’t take advantage of the space being 3D. But when also comparing it to Mania, the pure 2D level design is way better and the repeated level themes from the Genesis games are so much more interesting and fun to play than this.

The presentation of the game is pretty bland when compared from the Sonic games of the previous generation of consoles, let alone the games from the PS2 generation and the Dreamcast games. The models feel very ridged and there’s barely any movement on the models, to the point where Sonic doesn’t have any idle animations.

The environmental graphics feel very plastic (like Lost World) in comparison to the lush and beautiful landscapes of Unleashed and Generations. The music is good, but you can just listen to that on Youtube or Spotify.

The story wants to be cool and serious like previous games, but fails at this with the unfunny and out of character dialogue and the rushed pacing. The world doesn’t even have normal humans when the past games have shown they’re in towns everywhere.

This game is just an absolute mess. Go play Sonic Mania or even go back and play any other Sonic on previous consoles instead of this.

This is the most passable Sonic game I’ve played. The Adventure games haven’t aged well, but they’re still ambitious in gameplay, story, and scope. Unleashed gets a bad rep, but arguably has the best art direction/graphics and soundtrack Sonic has ever achieved.

Even Lost World has a sense of platforming and soundtrack, even if it’s somewhat confused. Sonic Forces has none of that. Gameplay has literally become “boost to win”, coupled with short, linear stages that don’t promote exploration or excitement.

Classic Sonic somehow feels and moves worse than Generations (only emphasized further by the stellar Sonic Mania), Avatar is too slow to be exciting, while Sonic is just. passable. Everything just seemed mishandled.

The story seems to neglect any history or personality traits characters did have, and attempts to tell a serious war story without understanding the severity of the scenario itself (why is Sonic still cracking jokes? why don’t we ever see the effects of imprisonment and “torture” on Sonic?).

The music actually has amazing compositions, but is plagued by using the same instrumentation (the same synth is in every song) and poor implementation (Classic sonic stages attempt to emulate the Genesis font, but comes off as irritating).

The only thing in this game I can praise is the graphical quality. As a game that asked for $40 at launch, I wouldn’t recommend purchasing. And even at $20, I still wouldn’t recommend.

30 short stages. 3 Play styles. A dozen or so bonus stages. Infinite (pun) possibilities so character customization and all for a really low price. Sure this game isn’t anything spectacular, but its nice to have another 3D Sonic game us Playstation owners can actually play (Colors, Lost World and the 3 BOOM games were all Nintendo exclusive) The music is generic with no Crush 40 which sucks and ranges from catchy to repetitively annoying.

Thankfully there are less instant death moments like in Sonic: Unleashed and the Buddy system is actually really fun. Different species have different abilities and it makes for fun and slightly varied gameplay.

Look you now what you’re getting in for when you buy a Sonic game these days. If you a pompous old school purist, go play Sonic Mania. If you’e up for something new and fun, try this game. The critics all said that the stages were lacking, I don’t know about you but 50+ total stages plus free Shadow DLC is pretty good, and I actually really like the shorter length of the stages.

It makes for faster, funner gameplay and easy replayability, especially when going for those Red Star Rings, Numbered Rings and Silver Moons (100% enthusiasts will understand). Plenty of fun to be had with the goofy story that is taken way too seriously.

The bosses suck though and the new big bad guy has no reveal or payoff which was disappointing. He’s literally a new masked character with no twists or development and without the free Shadow prequel DLC you know nothing about his character.

Also critics said the movement felt clunky like Sonic was too heavy, not once did I ever experience misplaced jump. I guess they just suck at the game.

For PARENTS. This game is rated M, FOR MATURE. Equivalent to an R-rated movie. A 5 year old should not be playing it, and if they are, don’t knock the product because you chose to ignore the rating ON THE BOX.

If your looking for a more appropriate shark game for younger kids, check out “Hungry Shark World. ” Also a fun game with multiple sharks, way less gore. May be digital only, so you may have to get it through the cosole.

Man Eater is a good Jaws-type, RPG-lite game. Somehow it manages to put a story to a shark game and it’s pretty well done. There’s a bit of grinding, like any RPG, but the core game and exploration are fun enough that it distracts from the fact you’re grinding.

If you’re looking for something different than “another shooter game,” give this a try. For $20 you can’t go wrong. And if you like shark games, like I mentioned above, try the console version (not mobile version) of Hungry Shark World.

Both go about being a shark in completely different ways. Both are fun. Happy Hunting! And PARENTS. please pay attention to the ratings for games on the box. If it’s not Nintendo, there are mostly Adult-themed games on these consoles.

I love aquatic games so this was a definite buy from me. Unfortunately it’s launch was marred by glitches and bugs in the game that prevented it from getting good reviews. However those bugs have now been patched out and the game runs as it was intended.

And it’s a blast! You play a shark eating every animal in sight as you grow and eat larger and larger species. You can unlock power ups to speed up or help you with fighting boats. The whole game plays out like a documentary/reality tv series with running jokes and commentary by the narrator, Chris Parnell.

There’s even a collect-a-thon aspect to it as you eat up license plates and uncover landmarks with hilarious commentary as you encounter each one. This summer new (paid) DLC is coming with more content so you can look forward to that.

This game is just pure dumb fun. You play as a shark who is just trying to survive in the world (all while a narrator makes cheesy jokes along the way). Want to eat some fish? Go for it. Want to jump onto land and start attacking tourists? Go for it.

There’s a very loose story but it doesn’t serve much of a purpose. Just something to signify that you’ve pretty much done everything in the game. If you’re looking for a game with a story, this isn’t it.

The game looks great when it comes to visuals. My only complaint is that it can start to lag a little bit if there’s too much going on at once (like eating way too many fish back-to-back at once in a crowded part of the game).

Overall a great game. Definitely recommend if you just want to turn off your brain for a bit.

Mario Maker 1 on Wii U was Nintendo’s answer towards players who wanted to create their own unique takes on Mario levels without venturing into the realm of modding or home brews. Mario Maker 1 created a deep, but simplistic toolset that any age of gamer could find accessible, but Mario Maker 2 takes everything we enjoyed back on Wii U, and it makes it bigger, deeper and even more fun.

See, I always felt like Mario Maker 1 was a mixed bag: you might end up with excellent user-created levels, or you might find yourself putting the controller down while a moving platform takes you right to the flagpole.

Creativity can be both interesting and dull at the exact same time. Luckily, Mario Maker 2 consists of actual single player content as well as Course World level filters so you have more ways to tailor the experience to your liking.

The story mode is fairly good too, with the premise being that the ‘undo dog’ resets the structure of Peach’s castle, leaving you with ‘job’s (i. e. Levels) to complete in order to earn coins which can be used to rebuild the structure from scratch.

This mode alone could have been a game in its own right, and it functions well beyond your everyday tutorial. Playing is only half the experience though, and I’m sure you’re curious how the Switch version handles level creation.

My main question going into Mario Maker 2 was…how will the level creation work if my Switch is docked? On Wii U, you created levels using the stylus on the gamepad, with only dimmed overlays on the TV.

Only after switching over to ‘Play’ your creation, were you able to finally look up and see your level in action on the big screen. On Switch, it’s physically impossible to be able to create your level on the tablet, then simply look up at the TV after it’s done; you naturally have to walk up to your dock and mount the console.

Nintendo actually made this process fairly simple: when docked, you can use any controller to your liking, and utilize the analog sticks, which act as pointers on the screen(there is no motion control option currently).

While in handheld, you utilize touch input, such as what we did on the Wii U gamepad. The controller inputs actually feel pretty good, and it is as accurate as you’d need it to be! The level creation tools are insanely deep, with literally hundreds of combinations that can be formulated to create challenges, puzzles and artistic beauty into a multitude of Mario backdrops.

New to Mario Maker 2 is the inclusion of different backgrounds and customization options for Mario Bros, Mario Bros 3, New Mario Bros U, Super Mario World, as well as the newly introduced 2D gameplay from Super Mario 3D World! Course World has also has been given some much needed options, such as to properly filter out levels you actually WANT to play, such as by selecting ONLY Mario 3D world levels or puzzle oriented ones for when you are in the mood to solve something.

Coop play is also a thing now, even if it ends up becoming a bit of a mess while working with someone else to play or create a level. The whole package is absolutely fantastic, and a must-play for anyone looking to create, play and experience the best Mario creator toolset Nintendo has ever released.

Even if you aren’t into making levels yourself, there is enough content here to keep you entertained well between other major Switch games, and the replay-ability is nearly infinite, as active community engagement will keep the game fresh for years to come.

This is a great game! I love that it makes my kids use their creativity and mind to create puzzles and for their own levels and worlds! They haven’t stopped playing this game since we purchased it last month! There are sooo many combinations that are available so you can play daily and never run into your levels being the same! It is cool that they can upload the levels they create online for other people to play and vice versa.

The only thing I do not like about this game is that other people can leave comments on the games my kids create and my kids also see the comments that people leave on other peoples games. That would be cool except that I’ve seen multiple inappropriate comments while my kids were playing other peoples levels.

It seems outrageous that the comments would not be moderated since it’s a kids game. If you are very particular about your child not being exposed to inappropriate comments, I would recommend not allowing your child to play this game online and use it solely for their own creations.

But overall, my kids love the actual game! It’s a very fun game!.

I’m oldschool. I’m not too fond of the co-op 3D Mario games with its frustrating level designs that are obviously not built around co-op. Which is sad because I want co-op Nintendo games. So I decided to go primal and get Super Mario Maker 2.

Getting old means lack of creativity in the noggin’, so it’s nice that you can play other players’ levels. Unfortunately that requires to buy a Nintendo Online Subscription, thankfully those are cheap, but still.

I’ve already knew what to expect in terms of player created level designs. Diabolical players creating close-to-impossible levels, and then there’s those where you step on a moving platform and the game does all the work for you.

While there is a Filter that should weed out the tryhards and the lazy, but from my experience, it doesn’t work and that really irks me. So it takes awhile to find a level that is just “normal”. The retro gameplay feels a bit the same to me, BUT the inputs are changed and that really irks me as well.

For example, the face buttons are just Run and/or Jump. Then you get to Super Mario World controls, the Spin Jump is now on the top buttons. WHY!?.

This game is a win on so many levels for young kids and families! It fosters creativity, problem solving, spatial orientation, planning and preparation and even simple math and reading. We have 4 sons ages 2-13.

The toddler isn’t quite old enough yet but still likes to see what his big brothers build. The older ones play in creative mode to experiment with various builds, as well as survival mode which challenges them to use resources to overcome obstacles.

Mom and Dad even get in on the action as the screen can be split with multiple players, and Dad at our house is an IT professional who set up a private server that allows us to play across platforms via emulators.

We use Minecraft as a reward for chores and good behavior and do a lot of family “missions” and crafting time after dinner. Of course, kids are going to love the March that comes with the fandom (t-shirts, toys, Lego sets) but it’s a unique and creative fandom, so we grownups don’t mind.

The updates released periodically always have something new to look forward to. I could take off half a star maybe for the periodic glitches associated with them, but these issues are relatively minor and to be expected with any similar product.

This game is totally worth the investment if you’re looking for family-friendly fun, or a digital creative outlet full of challenges and go-at-your-own-pace feel.

I am not the one who can give an honest review, but my children can. They love everything Minecraft. They are obsessed with this game and take it very seriously. As a parent, I have to say I approve.

My children have learned a lot. It forced my youngest to read because she had to read the words on the screen to get her supplies together. So her reading skills grew drastically from there. My oldest son uses math skills while playing and is in the 5th grade and they are putting him in a 6th grade math class.

I hate playing that game with a passion, but it really benefits kids! It is costing me money though!.

In 2021 this version probably isnt worth it if you want it as your main version of Minecraft, but its interesting to have in your collection if you get a good deal. This version came out before the Better Together update was released and is not supported anymore for updates.

The controls are better than I thought though, and its still fun even if its limited by the graphical and technical capabilities of the N3ds. If you want the latest version of Minecraft though, I would definitely get it on mobile if you are looking for an accessibility way to play.

About the game itself, the draw distance is very low which can make it feel a little claustrophobic and makes it difficult to see over a distance. Also there are no infinite worlds. The amount of mobs you can spawn at a time is also limited.

Its still a fun way to play if you want to play an older and unique version of Minecraft, so I rate it 4 stars. You can find a more detailed review if you look this version up online.

I would not recommend any purchase from Nintendo. this is the third time I buy something, and every time there have been issues. promised 30 minutes delivery on their website, it took almost a week. despite being a tech company they have clunky systems that prevent them to solve customer issues.

definitely not worth considering, Nintendo Switch is definitely my worst purchase of the last 20 years.

This game has been a lot of fun great when you’re in a group and want to play some short games. There’s a lot of choice and some are a little strange but most are great fun. I love the fact they’re quick and to the point.

Clearly a game designed to show off some off the consoles capabilities. Only giving 4 stars as it is a little pricey for what it is.

Amazingly entertaining and imaginative game! Get a little friendly competition going with your friend or partner! Great for parties or small get-togethers for hours of fun. There are 28 fun “mini” games that take only a few minutes to get the hang of- you face your opponent for most of the games.

I find this to be a cool approach to a multi-player game. There are also funny game demonstration clips to help explain how each game is played. If you got the new Nintendo Switch, give this game a try!.

right off the bat i want to make it clear i love this game. i’m a big splatoon fan and i’ve played it a LOT since launch. gameplay across all modes is a step up from splatoon 2, so many quality of life changes, soundtrack is awesome, tons of stuff to collect, and i found the single player campaign to be fun and intriguing.

HOWEVER there are definitely a few turn offs currently. connection errors are quite frequent and make starting a match demand a lot of patience. sometimes you’ll play without issue, but other times you’ll have to try and join a lobby several times before it actually works and you get into a match.

matches mostly run smoothly once you’re in, but every once in a while there will be a random disconnection or some lag. so yeah, until that gets fixed, you’ll need to have some drive to play the game.

also it does feel a little lacking in stages and weapons. there are 12 multiplayer stages, including 4 from splatoon 2. if you’ve played that game, you might get a bit bored of playing those same stages over and over.

there are plenty of weapons, but not a ton of options within each weapon class. but more stages and weapons are coming so it’s not bad for now. there should be large updates every 3 months for 2 years, with each one looking to include 2 maps, a new catalog of goodies to collect, and an unknown number of weapons.

so the game will get much better on every issue i mentioned. i imagine it would take quite some time to get burnt out on the stages/weapons though. and if you don’t play the game a ton then the connection errors might not get on your nerves so fast.

basically, great game with some turn offs that might be a big deal to casual players who aren’t sold on the game by now. if you have splatoon 2 already, maybe consider waiting a few months or more for 3.

i’d hate for anyone to get permanently turned off from the game because some launch issues may sour the experience (which is otherwise fantastic).

I’ve never played a Splatoon game before, but this game has captivated me and I will probably go back to play the first two. As other people have mentioned, Switch Online sucks and I feel like this franchise is held back on Nintendo platforms because there isn’t an option to voice chat with your teammates at all despite the game encouraging team based strategy and you are constantly getting connrction issues.

The worst part is if you’re in a room with your friends that room is gone and you have to invite all your friends and make a new one. This is absolutely egregious so as much as I love the game I am going to dock it a star.

Aside from that though the multiplayer is great! There are so many different weapons to choose from and play styles to utilize and it’s fun to try to unlock them all. I havent had any major issues once I am in a match unlike Smash Bros that lags constantly.

Turf War is fun and unique and there are so many other fun multiplayer game modes to try, including Salmon Run in which you fight off hordes of big fish to harvest their eggs. Aside from a lot of multiplayer content the story mode is quite fun.

I highly recommend this game! Here’s hoping that Nintendo improves their online service.

Pros: Have owned Splatoon 1 & 2 and this is still a great game. New maps to previous but some of the old favourites still here. Love the new lobby feature as you can practise whilst you wait for the next game.

Grizz Co is a permanent feature, the gun’s are still always bad though. Nice story mod to help you learn to use weapons and moves before playing if you want. Unique family orientated shooter. Well designed weapons to acquire.

Ability to customise character, clothing and locker. Can play with friends but no in game chat so no toxic comments or grooming concerns to deal with. Cons: Server connection issues, which is likely to get better the longer the game is out, but is causing disconnects and laggy gameplay.

Warning although can play story mode without can only play main turf war games with Nintendo’s online membership.

The game is amazing and this port brings almost everything that’s been added in updates. The only things that are missing are the settlements and multiplayer. The game runs really well considering the lower power of the hardware.

Pop in is an issue with elements such as ground cover as you walk. Blasting holes in the ground is unresponsive at times and you have to keep blasting until the engine registers it but I believe that this can be improved in updates.

Graphics and textures aren’t what you get on the other platforms either but the game is really solid and fun as is. I would recommend this to any fan of no man’s sky!.

Wish I could speak on how the port compares to the other console ones but so far this game is great. Really good time waster for anyone who is into resource management games with a huge emphasis on exploration.

Runs well enough on Switch. Have only had one instance where there was a substantial frame rate drop but that was resolved fairly quickly.

Enjoyed playing this game so far on the switch and it runs pretty smooth for it being on the hardware its on. Some of the textures in certain areas are rough and some stutters but it is a great sandbox game.

Definitely recommend to play on the oled switch.

Blind purchased this game as a fan of futuristic game settings. Didn’t realize it was a sequel to a 1994 point and click adventure pc game. Thoroughly enjoyed the modern point and click adventure with a great setting, story and voice acting!.

Gunplay is fun and smooth. Movement is quick and makes it fun to out maneuver the demons. I like the characters of Samuel Hayden and VEGA, but the villain, Olivia Pierce, gets far less characterization than them.

Some battles, especially the early ones, do feel a little repetitive but not for very long as enemy variety remedy’s this once you are introduced to more enemies.

I was a tween/teen when the first DOOM came out, and played every DOOM since. The amazing thing about this version is that it (surprisingly) does manage to both pay homage to the original while also updating the game play to be a modern shooter.

There is a single player campaign, with a fairly weak and uninspiring story (much like other DOOMs), but there is a story. The game play has the classic fast and simple appeal of the original – never stand still, run over things to pick them up, blue health/green armour/multiple types of power up and ammo.

There’s still ‘secrets’ to be found too. Glory kills, combat challenges, weapon upgrades etc. All add something new. The graphics are great and the setting on mars works well with the Zombie theme. I would say I found it shorter than I expected (took me around 20 hours to complete the campaign on ‘hurt me plenty’, and I’m a pretty average gamer), and the multiplayer while not bad is a meh (I suck anyway).

So it’s not a reboot, or a reimagining. It’s a modern update of the original, done well. If you liked the original DOOM then you should like this, if not, it’s probably not for you. If you never played original DOOM – well you might be missing the nostalgia factor, but it should still be fun given the fast paced action makes it fairly different from a lot of today’s FPSs which are mostly cover based.

First let me say I wish I got this game sooner. who saw this version of Doom to be the HARDEST to find. Digital only in stores and for physical it had to be eBay or Amazon at full price for used. Good luck everyone trying to bid! This guy, whom I got it from, had a buy now option and I could not care! Buy now? YES PLEASE! More so later learning that the seller lives an hour away from me so I literally got it in a day after buying.

Better yet, thanks to Coronavirus, I now have two weeks off from everything to play this while everyone stops everything and shuts down America. This was destiny! 5/5 great seller, professional and damn right amazing.

i’ve owned this for a few years. i can say right now that it is great fun and definitely kid-friendly, but cannot give it a 5/5 for 2 reasons. 1: you NEED a wired ethernet connection. playing on wireless, it does not matter how good your connection is, it will drop and YOU get in trouble if you disconnect from matches even if it’s nintendo’s awful online’s fault.

2: you cannot backup save data. if you lose it somehow or your switch is damaged, that’s it. it’s all gone. no cloud backup allowed. aside from this, it is a fun game that doesn’t require precision aiming to enjoy, much more about teamwork.

single-player on one console. don’t buy this and expect to let 2 kids play on one console unless they take turns.

The game is itself is good to play if you’re not doing anything. Something to kill time. PROS: Good for adults and kids No bad language so far Easy controls Colorful CONS: Needs a membership Only 1 player no split screen No option to sell old guns to buy new ones.

Takes time for people to join game Yes comparing the yearly membership price to others its cheap… BUT if you will buy a membership to just play this only its not worth it. Kids are not even allowed to play all the time either.

If there are families or friends who have this game, has own consoles each then its good and the membership is not a waste. The game itself is expensive and cant even play together.

I was looking for a good multi-player game during the pandemic that I could play with friends online (that wasn’t Animal Crossing. ) We discover Splatoon 2 and went to battle. I like how interactive the game is with the mini town and being able to customize your look and gear.

The one thing I don’t like is that you can’t choose to be on the same team as a friend it’s completely random. The Job section can get very tricky as well as you are paired at random and the weapon you get is also random.

I don’t play my Switch as much anymore so I don’t have the online service. I ended up buying a month just play recently as this game can not be played off line. Overall it’s a great game if you want to play for 15 minutes or 15 hours.

Love this game! It took me a while to get a good grip on it but once you do it’s fun. I loved the process of building everything from the ground up. I loved having to catch the Dino’s. It’s a frustrating process but it’s fun.

Building was one of my favorite things to do in this game. There’s so much you can do with builds. I love the process of mating Dino’s as well. I used to love the special events where the Dino’s would come in certain colors.

So I gave it 3 starts for 2 reasons. 1. The game doesn’t give you much help. They throw you in and with no explanation as to what is what, you are left figuring out all the stuff yourself. Which isn’t bad, but not very helpful.

2. This is the main reason it has 3 stars. The text on the screen is so small. It looks like it came from PC right to PS4. It’s hard to read everything even with playing it on a 75″ screen sitting away 10 feet or so you are really squinting to read everything.

Then there is local 2 player support, you might as well forget that. That makes the text impossible to read no matter how close you get. (Oh I also have nothing wrong with my eyes I can see just fine).

It had great potential if it was optimized with the layout and the size of the stuff on the hud. You can increase it a bit, but no where enough. It’s still a fun game on 1 player or online multiplayer but a 2-player couch not a chance.

For $15 it’s worth a grab, but at $30 you are left with that slight feeling of regret buying it.

Who doesn’t love dinosaurs? This game is hours of fun. Sometimes I step away for a few months and then come back and play again for long stretches of time. My husband, daughter, and I all play together.

I like to tame the Lystrosaurus (I call them “happy dudes” because they dance when you pet them). I feel this game is a more advanced game of Minecraft, but with dinosaurs. It does have some down sides though on occasion like the game crashes or sometimes glitches, but I still think its worth playing.

Overall Splatoon 3 is a really fun game that many will enjoy but it doesn’t do enough to improve. The game plays exactly the same as the previous game and includes many of the same maps and game modes.

They did however add 2 new weapon types, a new mode called tableturf, made the announcement optional, and 24 hour salmon run. These are some welcome changes but tableturf is a card game that is it’s own thing.

Tableturf is fun to play and I think many will enjoy it but it I can see it being avoided by most players. It plays sort of like tetris and that you are placing blocks except you can place them anywhere on the board.

The objective is to have more of you blocks taking over the “turf” at the end of the match. It’s a fun side distraction, but most will gravitate towards the lobby. The campaign feels like the Octo expansion and is enjoyable but these feel more like little side missions than anything else.

There is no real story here and it serves more as aguide to get you acustomed to how to play Splatoon. It would have been nice if Spaltoon 3 allowed you to change weapons mid map or at least while in the lobby, but oonce you select you loadout, there is no way to change it unless you quit the lobby and re-enter.

Unfortunate that this is still the case. Many can argue that there was no need for this release since everthing it included could have simply been updated as there isn’t enough content here to justify a sequel.

I have to agree with this statement. All in all, this is a very good game and if you enjoyed Splatoon 2 then you’ll enjoy this one as well.

This game is short, like a glorified demo or a series of tutorial stages, rather than a full-fledged game. It has a lot of charm and has stylish art design and music that is instantly appealing but it will end just as you feel like the game is hitting its stride instead of catapulting you to the full heights of its concept like Katamari Damacy.

The levels are incredibly fun, creative and addicting, but once you finish this game, there’s limited replay value. It would really have benefited from an achievements system like in the PS4 version.

At price of entry of $35, this might be too steep except for collectors; I wouldn’t recommend it unless it was on sale because, even though its a really fun experience, its an amuse bouche.

Oh my gosh, I 100% this within the first hours of playing. I absolutely love every aspect of this game. The characters, their distinct dialogue, and the un-cringeworthy use of modern abbreviations. It was such a great feeling to read it and not feel as though it was trying too hard to be hip.

The soundtrack is also fantastic. Fits the theme and style of the game so well. Thanks for making Donut County.

Games like this prove that bigger isn’t always better. This game only lasts between 6-8 hours, but it’s a fantastic experience. The character and setting are well developed and the story is very fun and wacky.

While this game isn’t for everyone, it’s worth a look for anyone that likes laid back games where story is more important that action.

I have wanted to play a modern ‘Wii Sports’ type game with full online support for a long time, and this title is scratching that itch. I especially love that online is the primary focus (the first menu item), and there is a long-term customization path with new items to work toward every week.

I also love that there is Ranked Mode for every sport, with an option to toggle it off when you like. This has just the right amount of incentive and goals to work toward to keep me playing for months to come as long as things continue to trickle out every week.

The presentation is slick and clean and I like that you can still import Miis if you want but the newer avatars are a nice update. I’m especially excited to see what new ‘body types’ and outfits we’ll get to unlock.

I do wish Ranked mode had SOME kind of reward tied to it. For example, reaching rank D in Tennis could award a bronze metallic racket, rank C a silver one, rank B a gold one, and Rank A. a rainbow one, etc.

Something like that. Just a cool little thing to show off your achievement. While most of the sports are fun and have a bit more depth to them as you learn them, it is a bit disappointing how imbalanced they feel.

Soccer is the standout here, feeling like an entire developed sub game, while badminton get repetitious quickly due to feeling like I have very limited options – tennis is somewhat similar as I feel like I cannot perform drop shots or lob shots to spice up the balance.

In general, Tennis/Volleyball could be a lot more engaging if we had the option to fully move our characters around, and/or tennis with 1v1 with full character movement. Lastly, it can be unclear what kinds of movements are required to perform certain moves and it can feel inconsistent.

I never had issues with this in Wii Sports Resort/Club but here I find my character specifically not performing the movements I am consciously doing, especially in Chambara, which severely dampens my experience when I’m trying to play against players who know what they’re doing.

Having SOME kind of way to access all of the ‘tips’ that show up on the loading screen would work (Smash Bros. Ultimate has a menu like this) and would at least help!.

Nintendo on their website listed for each sport how many people could play. The reality is it’s less than mentioned. They said bowling was 1-16 players – except it’s 1-4 offline, or 1-2 online (against 14 other players around the world).

They said football had 1v1 or 4v4 modes – it’s 1-2 players on/offline. Tennis is 1-4 offline, but only 1-2 online. Badminton is 1-2 offline but only 1 player online (Badminton has doubles irl, why is doubles not a mode in this game?) Volleyball is 1-4 offline, only 1-2 online.

Chanbara 1-2 off, 1 player only online. Some of these modes could easily have had more players allowed. Football could have up to 4 players as the Switch can connect 8 joy-cons (you need 2 each) Badminton could have a doubles mode.

Chanbara you could take turns as a team, winner stays on etc. Bowling could easily have up to 16 players offline with people passing a joy-con around (although it would take a long time for the game to finish) But no, everything feels more limited than it should.

There’s also golf to be added in as a free update later on, so the game feels unfinished. There’s also no reason they couldn’t have had boxing and baseball from the old Wii Sports. The gameplay itself is OK, but flitters between sometimes feeling like it’s rewarding your accurate, realistic movements and sometimes unexpectedly sending your shot off somewhere else even though you didn’t do much different from your previous movement.

There are also nuanced/hidden moves that it doesn’t show you in tutorials which gives the play some depth, but is also unbalanced if there’s match ups between someone that knows all the secrets and some one who doesn’t.

There’s also the lacking rewards for playing online – you just unlock more clothes and accessories for your avatar. My kids like this and it will keep some people going, but why not also have some leaderboards or weekly competitions, or badges that show things you’ve achieved such as 5 strikes in a row, or win/loss ratio or something else? So for my family of 5, at best 4 of us can play at once, but then once we go online, it’s down to 2 of us, and then within 2 out of 5 of the games it’s one person by themselves.

consider that before buying, if you had a different expectations of multiplayer as I did.

I miss the things that made the older titles in the Wii Sports series so great. Medals / Stamps, or some sort of challenge mode / collectibles. The game lacks the ‘mini-games’ that were present in previous titles too.

The special bowling mode is really good, I’d like to be able to select this when playing online though rather than being randomly thrown into matches and not knowing which game I’m going to play. I like the unlockables a lot, do think that their needs to be more customisation for those who want to play only offline.

At the moment it seems as if they are unable to enjoy the game properly without buying a subscription, which isn’t fair in my opinion. Perhaps some sort of career mode // progressively gaining skill for offline players, so that the gameplay doesn’t get stale.

Other than these things which I feel are missing – the gameplay is solid and the online has been very stable for me. It’s got all of the charm and playability of Wii Sports without so many unlockables and secrets, which is a shame.

It’s a fun game, but some of the rules are annoying. And the lack of options can be grating. For example, this game’s version of Uno-called Last Card-only allows 4player games. So you’re forced to use AIs if you dont have 4people.

This is the same problem Ubisoft’s Uno has, and its extremely grating. This pretty much affects any game with more than 2 players, and there is no absolutely no good reason for it aside from them not wanting to bother with the trouble of making it.

The selection of games is pretty varied though, and some of the games are clearly knockoffs of their more widely known counterparts. They play essentially the same, with the only big exception I noticed is Dominoes.

I grew up in a PR family, and we definitely DO NOT use the rules that are in this game. Still, it can be fun with some of the simpler games and can be handy for a Family Game Night. But you might find yourself reaching for You Dont Know Jack collections later.

I purchased this game for my son and he loves it because of the variety of games. You can’t get bore with so many options! There seems to be something for everyone. It is great to take on the plane or to keep busy while waiting somewhere because of the variety and some games are quick to play.

The games are knockoffs of popular games such and Parcheesi and Uno, but just as fun. I will say that Parcheesi type one is impossible to win against the computer. You are continuously sent back to start and there really is no strategy.

It is all luck and bad luck for human players. The rest are all pretty good as far as difficulty and ease of winning. Not too easy and not too hard. We have not tried playing online or against each other, so not sure how well that goes.

Overall, I do recommend it.

I pre-ordered this game the day I found out it was coming to Switch on a game card. The collection of 52 games (piano included technically isn’t a game) is great and fun to play. There is a downloadable demo on the eShop that lets you play four games including dominos and connect four without owning the game, while enabling a game owner to play locally with up to three other Switch consoles not owning the game.

The games range from basic like War up to Solitaire and even Bowling, so there is a range of skill just casual pickup and play games included. Bowling plays great, like an improved version of the Wii Sports game that offers great visuals and feel with the HD Rumble and a joy-con in hand.

It even features little Nintendo nuances like being able to place the Switch console in portrait mode and have the screen adjust for that layout. Other games like slot cars let you have up to four consoles in a variety of layouts race against each other across multiple screens.

Each of the games offer a lot of replay-ability as well as challenges to show off your mastery of each game. Whether you are looking to play a game alone, online, or locally in party mode with family or friends, this game is well worth picking up.

This has been a fun time. The different game modes are a nice change of pace from the standard Tetris fare of just clearing lines. The story mode is rather amusing, though it may be best in small chunks.

Any puzzle fan will likely enjoy this, especially if you like either series that is featured.

At first glance, you might think Puyo Puyo Tetris is an idea that should have been left on the cutting room floor. A 30-year-old puzzle game combined with another puzzle game that has never been all that popular in the West? Sounds like a tired formula, right? Wrong.

Puyo Puyo Tetris breathes new life into the puzzle genre with its wealth of game modes, and it’s quirky mashup idea makes these old games feel new again. Play just Tetris or just Puyo Puyo if you like, but the real fun comes from playing both at once, in either the Swap or Fusion modes.

Battling it out with three other friends, locally or online, is an absolute blast, and learning new strategies with which to battle will give you that same feeling that you had when you first tried Tetris on the Game Boy or NES.

The replay value is off the charts, and the presentation is slick and colorful, with a cast of nutty characters to keep things interesting. Puyo Puyo Tetris is fun in single- or multiplayer, so don’t hesitate to add this gem to your Switch library.

PuyoPuyo Tetris is a mash-up game that I’m pretty happy to play. While I lean more towards the Tetris side, the PuyoPuyo side happens to be fun as well. It comes with a number of solid features. Vs mode between other players or AI, a mode about setting off combos as quickly as you can, a story mode, online, and mixes of both the titular series and a mash up make up the bulk of the game.

Personally, as a puzzler, I had a lot of fun. I’d recommend checking out the free demo on the eShop before you pick it up. If you enjoy the demo, check out the main game. My only complaint is just how ‘anime’ the story is.

Which is to say bright, colorful characters and worlds with exaggerated everything and a number of characters that slot easy into specific archetypes. That said, it still managed to be a fun little story at least, if nonsensical at times.
