I have very long dreadlocks (and a big head) so finding a swim cap was impossible. My special needs brother goes swimming once a week and, when his support worker passed away, I had to start taking him.

My hair is precious to me, so the thought of getting all that chlorine (and other nastiness) on my hair made me shudder. I bought several swim caps, even one for ‘extra long hair’, but they didn’t come anywhere near fitting me.

I’d heard of Soul Caps during the Olympics controversy but I thought they would be too expensive or I wouldn’t be able to get them in Canada. Finally, I just decided that I would get a Soul Cap no matter what and found out that it was much cheaper and they delivered to Canada.

I ordered my cap (XL) a couple of days before the news came out about the decision to allow Soul Caps, so I thought it was destiny. When my swimming cap arrived, I took it out and looked at it. I actually thought it was too big.

I tried it on and it was a perfect fit. I looked at myself in the mirror and felt a swell of pride. I felt seen. Somebody had considered my special needs and created something so that women like me could participate in something that was considered ‘not for us’.

The statistics on Black people drowning because they don’t know how to swim are alarming. I know a lot of Black women who won’t swim because they don’t want to get their hair wet. Soul Cap has changed that.

I bought three (3) of these caps for my daughter, granddaughter, and grandson. The females’ hair length is mid-back. My grandson’s hair is just up to his neck. They absolutely love their caps and say it keeps their hair dry in the pool.

However, my grandson cannot really wear his as he said it is tight and gives him a headache. [ I think it’s because he has a big head ] Not to worry, I’m in the process of growing/ putting some length to my own hair and there are many “dred- loc”ed people in my family who can use the cap when visiting If possible can you make a cap for people with large circumference heads? My grandson just became a lifeguard.

Welp, this didn’t work for me. I have long, thick Caucasian hair and was really excited to try this cap. Got the medium as suggested for my hair type. I was hopeful I could keep my hair in my top knot bun, but I could not for the life of me get this cap on my head.

I hurt my eye at one point because the tension was so tight, and it snapped violently on my eye. I eventually changed my hair to a low bun and had better luck getting the darn thing on, but I could feel the water seep in almost immediately when I got in the pool.

The cap didn’t slide off, but after 20 minutes of lap swimming, there were definitely water bubbles in the cap, and my hair was wetter than when I wear my usual TYR cap. :-(.

Three main aspects that make this the best overall dome cap: 1. No default powdering to prevent first use slipping 2. Neck cutout helps prevent the cap line from pushing up and creating huge wrinkles on the top which would, on the other hand, do the opposite of what a dome cap should do 3: Patented panels make for an unparalleled level of comfort! Summary: This cap, if with the right size ordered, provides the most comfortable fit out of any other dome cap without having to be obnoxiously tight, thanks to all three aspects listed above! I would recommend no other dome cap to any type of swimmer.

However, I sincerely appreciate that they have a freestyle option like the Tracer-X available to make for better head position correction. But for pretty much every race, you can never go wrong with the Wallbreaker 2.

I am very happy with this long hair swim cap purchase I made last month. I have thick hair and it works well. It slides on over my hair well when I put it on and take it off without tearing my hair. I am thrilled that it provides such great coverage so that my hair no longer gets damaged from the chlorine during my daily swims.

My hair stylist, who colors my hair, is thrilled that this cap has solved my hair damage problem. She recommends wetting my hair before I put on my cap. I am very pleased that I can continue swimming every day in the pool at my club without getting damaged hair!.

I don’t have a big head, so this cap fits comfortably for 1-1. 5h practices. No wrinkles compared to regular caps. Seats very firmly throughout the practice, so I don’t have to make small readjustments in the practice as I do with regular caps.

It’s thinner on the edges than other “competition” caps, so it’s easier to put on and it’s not too tight for me. Sort of middle ground between regular caps and competition caps. So it may not be as comfortable for people with bigger heads to wear during practices.

Purchased the long hair swim cap for Rottnest Swim training at the pool. So glad I went with this one as it keeps the ends of my hair completely dry. I was worried about my hair being damaged by chlorine but this cap has stopped that from happening.

My hairline still gets a bit wet but the ends are dry after swimming. Highly recommend.

Pros: Not needing to stop to pull down a forever riding up cap. In a 1 mile swim I used to stop roughly every 10 or more lengths. I do still need to stop for the same reason, but nothing like as many times.

Thank you. Cons: It is such a blessing not having to stop every 3 lengths to pull down the cap. I feel it still could do with a tad more depth, as there still is upwards slippage – have you thought about re-introducing the under chin strap, which would overcome this? Sorry for delay in replying, our pool has only just re-opened.

this is the perfect swim cap for long hair – essential part of your swimmers kit! easy to get on and off. top tip- wet your hair first and add conditioner on the ends before you swim then put this on cap as wet hair absorbs less chlorine- no cap will keep your hair perfectly dry but at least if you wet your hair first and wear this cap you will be protecting your hair.

Plus your swim will be more streamlined if your hair is out os the way!.

Do not recommend! It’s work no better than my 5. 99 shower cap. Use it to go swimmer only got in the water never put my head underneath but my hair still got wet. Total waste of ($200)and I had just got my hair retwist….

I tried 3 other swim caps that said they were for long hair, and none of them worked. This cap is perfect. I have long and think hair, 36 inches long. i am able to pull it into a pony tail and winde it around and slide the cap over! Easy-pzzzee.

Wow !!!! Extremely pleased with the size of this swim cap. Perfect size for my long kinky hair, but tapered at face line to prevent water. I can wear a scarf underneath to prevent my hair from sweating.

Hi everyone, I’m going to leave a pretty detailed and even almost review of praise for this cap just because it is THE ONE. Whether you have a large head circumference or long hair or both, this is the one.

The colors are also electric – they look great, and more important, are very visible out there in the elements if you’re an open water swimmer. I have NEVER had a cap so thick and good quality but also stretchy that goes on so easily, stays on, and grips without ripping out bunches of hair upon contact.

I am one of the many unaddressed swimmers out there with what industry apparently considers (or doesn’t consider at all) is a honkin’ huge head. As I’ve gotten deeper and deeper into open water marathon swimming over the past decade plus, I’ve pored over endless forums of people trying to suggest caps for long hair versus big head.

To be honest, these forums led nowhere. Right now, I have a situation of both having a pumpkin head and long, thick, PERMED hair. Back when my hair was shorter, I could put standard latex and silicone caps on after wetting my hair but they always started creeping up and threatening to fall off, or even getting water pooled at the top.

Other times, I’ve torn caps that friends have given to me after hand picking the largest ones from their collections. In those moments (and I don’t know if it’s just me but have a feeling it’s not), I would feel so frustrated and even ashamed about what I started to feel was a freakish, gigantic head based on the fact that I had so much trouble with caps.

I’ve been glad to see that there have been more conversations about and product design responses to a parallel issue of Black hair or people with very big hair. But the caps resulting from these discussions are taller than they are larger in circumference.

For all this, by the way, it’s not like my head is twice the size of any other human head. What always frosted me was how it comes down to probably a few millimeters more of give, of coverage, to avoid anxiety every single time I have to stuff my head and hair into a cap, to stop having to adjust my cap during swims, to stop getting the headaches that come from caps that are just a bit too tight.

I was noting how swimsuit design technology is so robust now but the field of cap design remains stuck in the stone ages – unsustainable, uncomfortable, and One Size Fits All (Except Those People Whose Heads Are Bigger Than Whatever Size Industry Arbitrarily Determined).

I’m not sure how I found this cap but it took me years and hours of active searching and disappointment to finally find it. This is the cap I will always use going forward, and it’s the one that I will attempt to swim around Manhattan with this August.

Thank you New Wave for answering my continuous search for the perfect swim cap. It’s such a little thing, but I’ve tried them all. I’ve got long hair and it can be really tricky. Caps that don’t reach over my ears, or that slide up and I end up with a coconut head! Freebies from events are often uncomfortably thick and made for the short-haired majority, others are too thin and I daren’t stretch them to get them on.

But, I think you’ve got it just right. Great flexibility and soft quality silicone, amazing colours so that I’m seen from across the lake, and big enough to hide all my hair inside without slippage. Love it.

I love New Wave swim caps. I used to wear other major brands, but they were always very tight and uncomfortable. These have stretch and are easy to put on and take off without pulling my hair out or giving me a headache.

They also come in such great colors (I have 3!), which are perfect for open water swimming, so motorized watercraft can see you in the water (I also use the New Wave swim buoys to help with this). I am a loyal user after giving this brand a try.

It stays over my ears to protect them from cold water, but doesn’t feel too large or too small. I don’t really feel the cap at all. It comes in a couple of high-visibility colors (yellow and orange) for open-water swimming.

Best cap I’ve ever tried.

Not too bad of a cap, eventually ripped but it was a cheap cap. Order a few so you don’t go without so quickly as I did. White cap quickly discolored to a yellow tint. It would also slip off my head during long swims.

Cap lasted about a month, swimming three times a week for about 1. 5-2hrs a swim session.

A basic cap. Thinner than the silicone I had, but I like the color selection and it is still easy enough to get on and it isn’t too thin. I would recommend it.

I needed a cap to reduce my hair exposure to pool chemicals and to retain some of the heat lost from my head. I put it on after showering, and during the swim, it slowly slipped up to form large wrinkles (no, folds) on the top and the back of my head, and I felt the resistance of the folds when I pushed off from the pool wall.

After a readjustment, it held for awhile before gradually slipping again. I’ve put it on my dry head at home and it seems to stay in place. I haven’t gone swimming after applying it dry because all swimming pools require swimmers to shower completely before jumping in.

I’m a guy with short hair. I wanted to know if someone with a good sized shock of hair would have been able to fill out the folds. Next swimming cap, please. RE: complaints about water getting in, sure it does, but water won’t continually wash through and damage your pretty locks.

No swim cap will prevent your hair from getting wet–only keeping your head above water will do that.

I bought this for my son who is 7 but has long hair. We tried the kid sizes and they just didn’t work. He had a ear infection and we needed to make. Sure his ears were covered. This worked great. Even this size still rode up a bit but it worked.

Due to COVID-19, I purchase online fIr a 6yrs old, I ordered (it took a month before it was delivery); however, this CUT size is for an infant NOT YOUTH. I love the color; it’s pretty. I will exchange for an ADULT size.

I bought a bright yellow latex cap for open water swimming at an ocean beach in New England. I wanted the cap so lifeguards can keep an eye on me as the surf can get rough at times. The cap fits well and the yellow is VERY bright and does the job of being very visible.

The cap is smaller than other, similar, caps but that helps it to stay on your head better.

First of all, I ordered a light blue color and received a dark blue. The cap is too small and too tight. When I take it off, it always pulls away the hair.

This colorful and unique swim cap is absolutely beautiful! Why buy a simple one when you can have this. Needless to say I absolutely love it!

A good cap for swimming, closes ears, there is no strong squeezing of the head. Great price.

The cap is structurely too tight to allow the volume and texture of afro or very curly hair to comfortably fit underneath. One size does not fit all. My head is small, my hair is thick and the cap kept sliding off, allowing chlorine to touch my hair which defeats its purpose.

Not an inclusive product and not having the right equipment/supplies to swim unfortunately deters many from swimming as chlorine negatively affects the texture of curly and afro hair more severely than straight hair.

I would recommend the brand soulcaps if you live in the uk or any similar brands as I ended up buying it as an alternative to fufill the needs of anyone wanting to swim. What a swimming cap is “supposed” to look like is outdated and Speedo as well as other companies need but won’t address this.

I purchased this so that I do not have to apply sunscreen to my bald head in the pool or ocean. I used it multiple times for racing and swimming in the pool with Aqua Sphere goggles and for diving/snokeling in the Ocean in the Big Island and Kauai, Hawaii and it stays on like glue and does not interfere with my goggles or mask seal.

You can even push it down closer to eyes and it stays firm. Even diving through violent Ocean waves it stayed on–up to two hours in the water–no problem. Protected my head against sunburn each time with no sunscreen.

On one of my snorkeling boats I saw 2 other guys using this cap for the same reason–prevent sunburn to the bald head. I liked it so much I bought another one. Much more comfortable and easier to use than the Silicone caps.

I have had these before that worked great, this one not so much. It wouldnt seal properly, allowing water to get inside. I felt it as soon as I went underwater, got out immediately, pulled it off and had soaking wet hair.

Not to mention it was ridiculously uncomfortable. Not good for keeping head dry, not good for streamlining, not comfortable, all in all turned out to be a waste of money. Fainaly it broke faster than I expected.

I have had no luck finding a swim cap that can fit my big head and all my hair without giving me a headache after a short swim or literally bursting open halfway through a swim because the cap can no longer contain all my upstairs business.

This cap is amazing. I ordered six of them. It fits my hair, which I can actually put in a bun now, because the cap fits the bun. And I don’t get headaches anymore from my head being confined in a swim cap for normal headed humans.

Our son is on his high school swim team. We received this Athletic Works 100% silicone – latex free junior-size swim cap, and he loves it! First of all, it was easy to put on. With just a tug on both sides, it easily slid over his head.

The edges are scalloped, and all you do is just pull it on. During his practice session, the swim cap stayed secure, and it did not budge. Our son has a latex allergy, so this swim cap worked well. The silicone material is strong, and doesn’t look like it will tear easily.

He likes it so well, that he plans to wear it at his next swim meet. I would definitely recommend this particular swim cap to his friends on the swim team, and others who need a high-quality swim cap.

I found the Soul Cap to perform just as other silicone swim caps; it provides all over coverage but my hair still is damp, though not soaked, after a 45 – 1 hour swim session. I recently started swimming at least twice a week, concentrating mainly on the back stroke doing laps.

Based on the reviews I was hopeful the Soul Cap would keep my hair completely dry. It seems there really is no magic cap that keeps the hair totally dry if you will be submerging you head in the pool.

I will keep using though, as I appreciate my hair not getting soaked. I do, however, need to wash it after each swim session.

Awful smell Right out of the package and persists despite washing. I ordered this color once years ago and it smelled So I threw it out after several times of trying to clean it. I saw it again recently and, because I like the color, I tried it again.

It smells exactly the same as the first one I got years ago. Absolutely horrible. I have tried rinsing it, even swishing it in the chlorinated pool… Letting it air out… Scrubbing it with soapy bubbles… There’s nothing I can do to get this hideous odor out.

I would not recommend getting this color. However, I do recommend the sporti silicon swim caps in this style. They are fantastic!.

Bought this for my 10 year old daughter, and she has no complaints about it at all. The silicone is fantastic because it doesn”t pull on her hair like the rubber caps, and because it is an adult size, she can use it for a longer amount of time.

It has plenty of room for long hair. She usually wears a french braid and holds it upside down while we get the cap on. We also sometimes just make a bun and again, no problems getting the cap on. we just have to make sure not to have it too far down on her forehead at the onset.

Cap is too tight and does not fit a 5 yr old petite kid. I bought 4 for total of 60$ through Walmart and when I tried to return to store, Walmart refused to take it back. I was asked to return to the swim outlet store at an additional return shipping fee of 4$!! Per cap.

Walmart return policy said this could be returned to the store, however Walmart is misleading the customers by not honoring their policy.

This is bar none the only brand that as a swimmer who swims on the regular prefers. The best all around simply because it works. It doesn’t get bleached out, torn, ripped, or faded as fast as some of the other brands.

Great colors and quality. You typically see the pros use this as well as Olympic athletes. I have never used nor would I recommend any other brand as a water 💧baby!.

The swim cap is a lovely bright colour and is brilliant quality. Unfortunately it is just too small for me. I’ve an average-sized head but long, thick hair and sadly the hat only reaches the top of my ears, not a problem I’ve had before.

Love my Zone 3 cap, its so easy to put on, even with my super thick hair. It stays on well and is comfortable throughout my swim. Will definitely be investing in a couple more colours to match my suits.

Durafast bikini seems super well constructed. The bottoms fit great while the top feels a little too snug around my rib cage. That said, I think it will loosen up a bit with use so it will probably end up being perfect.

The cap is so comfy – I love it! I have shoulder length hair and it fits underneath comfortably.

The youth caps fit my smaller adult head perfectly but this cap is the all time BEST. It is snug but not tight, comfortable not so ‘plastic’ that you get a headache after an hour swim. Whether you buy the adult or youth size, it’s the perfect dream cap.

I wear 2 for my swim. One over my hair, then my goggles and then the same size cap over. Super easy to get on the 2nd cap and not have pinched ears by the end of a long swim.

I was sent the wrong product. Hate to leave a bad review for this one but can’t do 5 stars based on that. I received the short hair version. It’s a little tight on my medium sized head (w/ long hair) but otherwise is very nice.

The MRP of the product was 799/- but I got it for 599/- but still it’s not worth. We buy swimming cap for protecting our hair from water in swimming pool but it’s not at all protecting the hair from getting wet.

I bought this swimming cap because it had mesh inside but silicon outside to stop chlorine water making my hair wet. However, this doesn’t work at all. As soon as I went inside the pool, it made my hair wet.

It is also very expensive and not worth the money.

These products are not accurately updated for size. The palm design is supposedly for Child size which is not mentioned clearly anywhere. I visited the store as well and they had no idea on the sizes and availability.

Wasted my time on this one.
