20 Best Star Wars Battlefront Pre Order (2023 Updated)

This review is for the XBOX One version of Star Wars Battlefront. First off, I’m a huge fan of Star Wars and have played all of them going back to the first 1980s arcade versions. Now that being said, I can tell you that the game controls are HORRIBLE, the WORST I’ve ever used in any Star Wars game, especially for the flying vehicles.

You cannot map individual control buttons. The one that bugs me the most is the left or right stick as your only choice your power/speed control button. It would be much better if it could have other button options like being on one of the trigger buttons.

Also, the flying vehicles are very mushy and erratic when compared to games like Ace Combat, HAWX, and even the 1983 arcade version of Star Wars. Basically, I find many of the controls for this game somewhat clumsy.

To make matters worse, I bought it at Game Stop and when I tried to return it after 5 days they refused. They only allow used games to be returned within 7 days, so GAME STOP BUYERS BEWARE! If you must have it, wait and get it used from Game Stop so you can return it within 7 days if unhappy, or get it from someone who has a fair return policy.

Also there are a lot of video glitches in the cut scenes and in the game play. I’M VERY FREAKING UNHAPPY WITH THIS GAME!.

Well, i played the beta, and bought this the day before my birthday, mostly for family and friends, and let em tell you, if they had better splitscreen (walker assault/ multiplayer modes for splitscreen) i would have given this 5 stars.

and i would still have the game. Yes, i took back battlefront, i do like a few of the multiplayer modes, like Walker Assault, but i took it back because i bought it mostly for splitscreen, and although there is splitscreen, COD actually has more splitscreen than battlefront! If Dice were to add this i can guarantee that the reviews would be better, and more would buy this, because most of the reviews i read, people wish for a better splitscreen.

thanks for actually having it i guess, but they should have added more. Anyway, i am currently playing the division, which is the game i got when i took back Battlefront. So, battlefront is good for someone who doesn’t have too many plans for splitscreen, and doesn’t miss the old battlefront times (sittin with a friend and having chaos around every corner.

I paid $60 for this game. The graphics were excellent but that is as far as the good stuff goes here. You have a game that failed huge in the evolution of a game. In Starwars Battlefront 2 you had more vehicle options as well as more levels and characters to choose from.

That was well over a decade ago. This game also needs more Jedi and Sith character selections. The biggest negative hit for me was there is no story mode. What is a Starwars game of this caliber without a story mode.

The creators really devolved on this one. Online play is good but come on fellas do us right next time. Not worth $60.

I love this game. It is so much fun, and you can play as a variety of different characters, including Princess Leia, which I think is a very important aspect of the game. The graphics are gorgeous, and you can spend hours just looking at the screen in awe!.

Great game, my son in law was very pleased with it, unfortunately I received it the day after his birthday despite ordering it in plenty of time due to the senders whole family being too sick to post it.

At first you begin playing this game and you don’t understand all the negativity from players in the Beta. It looks amazing, sounds amazing and it’s everything you wanted as a star wars fan. It feels like you are really in the Star Wars universe and offers many things I dreamed about getting to play as a little kid 30 years ago and I can’t be alone in that feeling.

But the more you play the more you realize after seeing everything again and again – not matter how beautiful, you get a average shooter that gets old in under 10 hours. Limited guns, limited game modes that are interesting and there is a true lack of incentive to continue progressing.

The hero system is interesting and it is fun to kill enemies so easily. But I don’t like how the system itself works- as in how it is delivered to players. Battlefront in like being trapped in a car while looking at the window at a tropical paradise and get excited wanting to experience it.

You try to open the doors but they won’t open. You try to roll down the windows but they fail to work too. So you try to do your best and break the windows out with your elbows only to find they are made of bullet proof glass.

So while the view is beautiful you will never be able to get your hands dirty or interact with it. That is Battlefront in a nutshell. A sight for the eyes but not for the brain. After you see everything enough, there is a good chance you get burn out more quickly than other shooters.

My final opinion is there are too many shooters on the Market that just came out that offer far more.

As someone who loved the original battlefront this game left me feeling unsatisfied. The amount of maps and playable characters are less than the original while also having some locked behind a loot system.

The amount of maps is lacking requiring you to buy dlc if you want to play more planets. Overall the game felt incomplete and like a cash grab from EA.

If like me you really enjoyed the Battlefield series, and like about 99% of people are a fan of Star Wars this game merges them together in one masterpiece that will take you back to your childhood (or have you swinging round fake lightsabres making a whoosh noise!).

Everything is in the game, the graphics are stunning and the music is taken directly from the movies. Gameplay is very good, not perfect, but very good. The first person shooter engine is that of Battlefield and if you prefer the precise aim and shoot rather than the arcade style COD engine then this game does not disappoint.

Level are extremely detailed from rock surfaces with lava to my favourite deep in the forests where there are plenty of hiding places and options to set traps for your opponents. The multiplayer game is engrossing and so far has suffered no lag or glitching from my experience.

There are a few things which frustrate, for me it is the fact your guns overheat so mid fire battle you could require a cool down of your blaster and then be left scratching your head as you are shot at without a hope.

The time to refill your grenades or abilities can be annoying but it can be improved as you level up. All in all, multiplayer is fantastic and the reason to buy this game. If however, you want a serious single player campaign this game is not for you.

I had thought maybe this would provide a similar first player campaign to some of the older first shooter Star Wars PC games, sadly it does not. Instead you have mini battles or races (effectively training) that can be vehicle based, shooting based or heroes based (Luke vs Darth Vader etc).

This is the reason it does not get 5 stars, but for multiplayer, running over the millennium falcon to toss a thermal grenade at an unsuspecting troop of storm troopers gives you such a rush that we have been craving since childhood.

One of the best parts of Rogue One was the very ending when Darth Vader was unleashed on the poor Rebels who were trying to escape with the Death Star’s plans. It was almost a tip of the hat from the director to Battlefront II players who have played the Tantive IV scenario! My wife was pretty sceptical about playing XBox (boy stuff) at least until me and my sons forced her to play.

She was hooked almost immediately! She still squeals when Darth Vader appears from nearly no where and swings his lightsaber at her! This game brings back a lot of fun memories from when my sons, now teens, were little boys.

The game itself is a blast to play too. Plenty of interesting characters, interesting playing “boards”, and fascinating battles to try out. I still think the graphics are amazing and the game play is both fun and intuitive.

This game is well worth every penny you’ve spent on it. Heck, I’m on my FOURTH copy!.

its fun, challenging and easy to play. Character knowledge is not needed as the characters fight the same. Note: I’ve heard xbox live is no longer availible, so for those who want it just for a normal xbox for online features, chances are it won’t work.

The new Star Wars battlefront 2 uses the proven favorite pay-to-win system. No hunt mode, most features arent local co-op, but Im here to talk about the original. This game is from a less greedy time and seems to use the philosophy that if your company makes large, group play, and most importantly fun games, costumers will keep coming back.

This doesnt work if one game is WAY better than the rest, in this case not just of the series but the genre entirely. This game is very much limited by the hardware, but you cant feel it. Space battles feel truly epic, galactic conquest feels like a soldier bulging an empire, and hunt makes for hilarious couch conversation.

So I wont be coming back to this company Ill be coming back to THIS game. If you want to be a wampa fending off an entire rebel force or fighting as and alongside the Ewoks of Endor, tis will play out a lot more smoothly than youd expect.

Cant drive the AT-AT freely still. Vehicles are only for one person. Cant have a buddy hop on a vehicle and control other parts of the vehicle. Interface and gunplay is weird and clumsy. I dont understand why DICE didnt transfer the great gunplay, user interface, squad features, and vehicle gameplay from BF1 and reskinned it Star Wars.

You would think the actual developers of Battlefield would make a better Battlefront than Pandemic. But it is not so.

It bums me out so much to write this, but this game is just not good. There has been a huge uproar about loot boxes and micro-transactions, and I’d say rightfully so, but even past that there are so many buggy and broken things in this game.

The first Battlefront was a solid game that was fun but flawed, and was a great springboard for EA to fix the errors, add on cool new stuff and refine gameplay. This feels like a step backward in almost every single way sadly.

The multiplayer system is skewed regardless of pay to win or not in favor of anyone who either A: has excess time to devote obscene hours to playing or B: Had the early release to devote time and level up or C: As just naturally better at this game.

While you’d certainly expect these players to have higher numbers and be somewhat dominant. The system in place makes these players keep getting better and stronger exponentially faster than the majority of players, and they are given the tools and access to super characters every match to just absolutely ransack everyone else and keep those other players from advancing at an enjoyable rate.

You see the drastic disparity every match in the stats. Outside of that, the Hero system is a HUGE step back, most of them play like tanks with miserable play control. The game is just generally buggy and glitchy.

It’s beyond slow to load and find matches, the downtime feels like it’s almost as much as the up time playing. The graphics, while 99% of the time are beautiful, do have moments where you have to do a double take when you see an effect so bad it looks like something from the early 2000’s.

The matches themselves and level designs aren’t as fun, and you spawn frustratingly far from the action every time. Lastly the campaign. Part of me loved parts of it, but generally it was a huge letdown.

The story had interesting moments but not a lot of clarity and a huge cliffhanger. The hero levels were just awful, particularly the Luke level from gameplay to design. And then just the general gameplay.

It was uninspired, boring, repetitive and enemies were unflinching laser blast sponges unless you land a headshot. Just a huge bummer for something I was so looking forward to. I’d love to trade it in for something else right now, but will have to wait till mid December for the free DLC that resolves the cliffhanger since I’ve invested this much time into it so far.

As much as I’d really love to, I just couldn’t recommend this to anyone as it stands, just way to flawed.

My review is only for the single-player campaign so please bear that in mind. The campaign is definitely better than the first game and is surprisingly lengthy at about 8-10 hours, depending on how fast you want to complete the game but the graphical beauty will be missed.

I played the game on an XBOX One X on a 1080p TV and can imagine how awesome it would look on a 4K TV. Sometimes there is no time to take in the sights due to the frantic shootouts in space but it is still wonderful to see the fighters, ships and asteroids which need to be avoided so as to not crash into them.

The planets look authentic and makes you think you’re in a Star Wars movie. There aren’t many items to locate say as the Far Cry series but upgrades to weapons are made by finding crates or opening them after completing missions and serves the purpose.

They can also be purchased with real money but the game is enjoyable enough as is without having to spend more. There are other modes which I haven’t tried yet such as an Arcade mode where you fight off the enemy on different planets and also a Starfighter assault mode which is similar.

The multiplayer is where the game’s strength lies and there is a wide choice of characters to choose from. I wouldn’t know how good the servers are not having played in multiplayer. I wasn’t going to get the game at first but Best Buy had a special deal so I took a chance and am glad that I did.

It’s not the deepest game like Fallout 4 but does provide the fun of being in a Star Wars setting. It’s mostly based on use of the right weapon at the right time and the accuracy of your shooting. Your flying skills will also be tested and is exciting to be in space battles.

If you have EA Access on your XBOX, you can download a trial version to preview the game which starts at the beginning of the campaign. It costs $4. 99 for a month if you just want to check out a few games at first or get a year’s subscription for about $30 which gives access to a lot of great games for the money.

This game has a pay to win business model, micro transactions have been removed but will return. When they do return hopefully the loot crates will only contain skins and irrelevant stuff that doesn’t contribute to pay to win.

However, due to that business model being setup in the first place, the game is extremely unbalanced for multiplayer until you grind up your weapons, attachments, abilities, and so on to compete with players that spend all day playing the game.

Casual gamers, this is for you, multiplayer will want you to throw the controller. The loot crates give you weapons and upgrades to your abilities that you must grind for to even get a dozen kills in multiplayer.

One guy from a 40 player battle will win all 5 awards just because he has all the upgrades unlocked. Also, multiplayer load times take forever, respawn points put people behind you or right next to your team, and if you try to fly something be aware that someone with all the unlocks will likely shoot you out of the sky when you spawn in.

Try to find what rank you are, it seems to be located in one place, the career section. It’s important to know the status of your gaming experience and when you can upgrade stuff, but it’s not available for you to see all the time.

You look and look when it could just as easily been put up in the right hand corner. Additionally, the game has a campaign mode, but the campaign can be finished in roughly 3 hours. The campaign is very disappointing and feels mashed together.

Some parts really feel good and exciting, but I think for it being so short it feels very rushed and has no depth of character. Let’s just say stuff changes quickly and next thing you know you’re like what just happened.

Once you start getting the hang of it, then it’s over and it’s terrible how they put it all together. Super insane graphics and design. That is not the problem. Sound is amazing too! The game is beautiful and the flying battles are amazing even with the disadvantages and the unbalancing in multiplayer modes.

If you do buy the game, just fork over the extra $20 for the deluxe, why? Oh, I forgot to mention the deluxe has pay to win stuff that would take you forever to grind for, so you might as well start off with something.

Amazing graphics, enjoyable game which was very entertaining

I have been a massive fan of most “Star Wars” games, so much so that I find the Han Solo dance and song in “Kinect: Star Wars” kind of cute. My favourite game out of them all was “Star Wars: Battlefront II” on PC/PS2/Xbox was because of it’s diverse maps, space to ground combat, map playlist and a large variation of characters and stuff from the prequels!!! This game first caught my attention when I heard that it was getting made by the developers of the critically acclaimed “Battlefield” series and when they made the controversial decision not to include anything from the prequel trilogy.

I got a chance to play this game at the EB Game Expo 2015 and since it was a demo I didn’t really think much of the lack of maps but unfortunately it was the full game. The first thing I want to mention about the game is the maps and how bland they are.

They are so bland and despite a couple of differently decorated areas in each map they look so bland and are all the same. They are medium sized maps and only with the latest update do they add larger maps which are just as bland.

The graphics are beautiful with superb lighting but does lack detail. It’s a very polished game and looks beautiful despite only playing on a 720p resolution. The gameplay is fun and doesn’t take long to get use to the controls.

It’s fun to play and is for the most part your usual FPS controls. You don’t have to be the best gamer to master. I would have to give this game a 5. 4/10.

First, let’s be clear: if you’re expecting Battlefield in space, you’ll be unpleasantly surprised. This is very casual. There isn’t a wealth of maps, weapon/loadout customisation, or nuanced combat mechanics.

It scores high marks for authenticity, the terrain, scenery and audio are just amazing. Unlike Battlefield, this a beautiful game that is a joy to explore. It has SOME tactical depth, but nowhere near as much as BF4.

I am not a Star Wars fanboy, but there are certain things I loved/hate based on my childhood love of Star Wars. Changing Boba Fett’s voice and unmasking him in the movie essentially dissolved the mythic sense he had about him.

It is a major shame that despite the claim to faithfully reproducing the original setting/characters in this game, they have made Boba Fett sound like Jake the Muss. Also, stormtroopers should never be able to take off their helmets.

NEVER. The entire idea behind that totally impractical white-on-black suit is psychological. That you can make your stormtrooper’s head an asian chick or an old man greatly deviates from not only the Imperial ethos but also the faceless, androgynous characters the stormtroopers represent.

I like that you can be male or female, and of course with the Rebels anything goes as far as races/ages are concerned because they are a hodgepodge militia, not a regimented force. This game is well worth getting.

Hoth and Endor are just gorgeous, and shooting blasters feels, looks and sounds great. Gameplay isn’t particularly deep, and deviations from the ‘true, original’ Star Wars might jar some fans.

Basically playing to see who can get the biggest streak with the heros. No cool downs. Chose perks (boost n abilities) over gameplay or class role play to play the map tactically. Especially as a team.

They actually made to be most basic map lay outs as to make it look like your doing it as a team. Has no balance. Winning in this isnt fun. Hot garbage. Ppl who like this just like that you can kill hords of others playing as the hero characters and the pretty bright colors.

The is exactly everything wrong in gaming in one game. Might go more into detail later. Borrow this before you pay for anything.

Classic game for original xbox, and compatible with xbox360. (with reduced load times on 360,and sharper graphics/images). The story mode/campaign spans the two eras of the Star Wars films, meaning you play in the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War.

Other modes include, Galactic Conquest, where you pick a faction and play against its opposite to conquer the galaxy. Instant action where you pick the map,and team and then battle. This mode allows you to play other types of battles,i.

e capture the flag,conquest,hero mode or hunt mode. Gameplay consists of two types of battle, ground/invasion on a planets surface, and space. You will be battling with your team of A. I, (or with/against a friend), to capture command points to deplete the other teams tickets/lives[conquest mode.

] there are four playable classes for ground battles, and two for space battles. The maps are varied with locations like hoth and naboo really setting the scene for an epic battle. Yavin 4 really being a favourite of mine.

There is progression stats, such as medals earned, with the ability to unlock different weapons in battle. Take control of turrets, tanks or walkers(such as the massive AT-AT), and once your rank has increased you can recruit a squad in battle.

Also the ability to switch between 1st person and 3rd person views allows players to play in a style they like. Hours of playability alone or with a friend, the game is a classic. Graphically the game is not amazing, simply because of its age, but when your in the heat of a battle the explosions and laser don’t look too out of date at all.

5/5 this game should be played by every Star Wars fan, or every FPS/3PS fan.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 did extremely better than the first, improving on almost every aspect of the game. Space Battles became a new thing in this game that i seem to not find in new games that are better than this version.

better classes, a better campaign about the 501st Legion and their transition into the empire, more modes than the last game, more maps and different selection of maps, and the ability to play as heroes.

Conquest has been greatly improved with more maps to capture and more bonuses with space battles also available in the mode. you are still able to play across both the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War eras, with improved units and better looking models than the last game.

Note: Please don’t get this confused with the newer one. This is the older, 2005 PS2 version. To start it off, one of my favorite features in this game is that you can switch from 1st person to 3rd. The gameplay might feel a bit slow because you can’t sprint in here, unlike Battlefront 2.

This game’s Galactic Conquest mode is where most of the fun is found. You start on a planet and take control of each objective, entering battles in between. As you overcome them, you can attain upgrades, which make your conquest turn out more smoothly.

To describe it in a silly way: You’re pretty much playing Chess in Space, then your lasers go “pew, pew”, and then you’re all like “Hey look, I own this giant ball of mass, floating in nothingness. Neat.

” Tbh, I’d have to only give this game only 3 stars out of 5. Imo, Battlefront 2 is better in almost every way. However, this title is good too since it’s the first and foundation of the series.

I love this game. I have the second game already but I wanted to get both battle front 1 and 2. Battlefront 1 keeps the battle a little more condensed compared to battlefront 2, but it makes for a more engaging experience.

I recently got an update to my XBox 360 that allows select original XBox games to be played on the 360. I had this game on the PS2 a few years ago and I loved it to death (in more ways than one, the disc is beyond repair).

Star Wars Battlefront is among the elite in previous generation console games. It brings Star Wars fandom together with a strategic shooter. You get to see the greatest Star Wars battles through the eyes of a common soldier.

I adore the strategic aspect put into Battlefront. The two ways to win are to either capture all command posts (spawning points) or to eliminate all enemy forces. The way you fight your battles is up to you.

Unit classes have good variety. You can go in as a regular soldier, sniper, engineer, etc. You can take the battlefield as a foot soldier or destroy everything in your path with devastating vehicles.

Another thing I like about Battlefront is being able to choose your side. Depending on the era you battle in, you can fight as the Republic Army, battle droids, Rebels, or Imperials. I also have to admit that for a 2004 game, the graphics are phenomenal.

One noticeable con about the game is the AI. In some situations, the AI are just dumb. Really, really dumb. Another problem is game balance. As I’ve mentioned, the vehicles in this game are monstrosities on the battlefield.

They’re almost a little too powerful. Only heavy weapons and other vehicles can make a dent in them. I know that, realistically, this is to be expected. However, blasters are useless against them, regardless of how much blaster fire they take.

Another game balance issue is Jedi. In the first game, you can’t play as a Jedi, however you can have Jedi on the battlefield. (in the second Battlefront, players can use Jedi heroes, posing a more serious game balance issue.

) The Jedi are almost indestructible. The only way I have ever killed them is by blowing them off a cliff. They instantaneously respawn. While it’s still anyone’s game with a Jedi on the field, not many players like it when an indestructible force kills anything in its path and there is nothing they can do except stare and think angry thoughts while they make futile attempts to stay out of its way and compensate for the massive amount of casualties caused by this juggernaut.

For some more positive points, the controls for Battlefront are simple and easy (much like the Halo series’ control simplicity). Now, this is not to say that the game is easy. It, by all means, presents a formidable challenge for players of all backgrounds.

The splitscreen mode is very entertaining. Even though only two people can play offline, it is really fun playing on the same team as wingmen, or playing against each other as if you are opposing commanding officers in an intense war game.

As far as gaming goes, 2004 is the new 1989. Older games such as this have really high replay value and the competitive elements are more based on player skill than by killstreaks. In this game, you have to work for your kills, not get them handed to you because you got 10 kills in a row.

For old-school gamers and newbies alike, this game gets my highest marks. This is a game that will keep you entertained alone and with a friend. Honestly, they just don’t make games like this anymore.
