Great helmet at a great price. I ordered sizes based on measurements we took of our heads. Since my head is more oblong (front to back) than round, the helmet was a little snug on my forehead. Fortunately the helmet has enough insulating properties and I didn’t need to wear a beanie under it.
The ear pockets for wired or wireless speakers were well designed. I like the rear strap for the goggles. Due to the smooth & round shape, goggles can slip up & behind you, but the strap keeps it with you, reducing the “yard sale” effect after a wreck.
Was a tight fit in size small which I usually wear. Other than that worked well. Tightening system was effective. Did not realize it had built in headphones but I did not use them so cant comment on how good they work.
Possibly because of the headphones the ear flaps seemed less warm than my previous helmet. Over all satisfied.
I ordered 2 of these helmets for my family. The price was great and my boys enjoyed getting them as gifts. They said they are quite warm after just trying on. Can’t wait to see how they are on the slopes!.

This is a great helmet and overall I am very satisfied. It is a perfect fit and the liner will keep you warm. The air vents are nice for warmer days. The mips is a nice piece of mind to have too since most ski crashes will have some tumbling.
Combined with my smith goggles I have a perfect fit. My issue with this helmet is the top of my ears rub on something, I am thinking it is the plastic mips harness. It isn’t bad but after a long day it starts to irritate a little.
Problem is completely solved by putting a layer over my ears like a thin buff which I do anyway.
So, I hate helmets, period. I’m the guy always in a bandana and bright cloths trying to bring the 80’s back. But I have kids and need my brain to study and save glaciers so I should protect my head. I have a very large head (the XL barely fits), which means most helmets make me look like a novelty act on a dashboard.
This helmet does the best to fight that bobble head issue. It is very light, breathes very well (I run hot and usually don’t wear even in cold conditions). The profile is low and the back isn’t too large to bump into the top of a pack, which has been an issue for me.
So, if you have to wear a helmet, I would recommend this one. as this helmet hater wears it with minimal grumbling.
True to size! (make sure to measure your head before you order people!!) So comfy and warm. Vents are super cool for dialing in just the right amount of air flow. I hope I never put it to the test on a tree, but I am glad that if the worst happens, my noggin is protected.

Just returned from an 8 day ski trip, during which I had a serious wipeout. My head was whipped around until it hit the ground, bouncing a bit until it stopped. The impact was pretty hard, but my Highline Mips helmet absorbed the brunt of the impacts, leaving four dents in my helmet, but none in my head.
I’m really thankful I was wearing the Highline helmet. Aside from keeping my head from a severe injury, its other features are well appreciated. It is lightweight, comfortable, easy to adjust and the magnetic clasp is a nice touch.
The temperatures ranged from -3 degrees to mid teens the first few days, and then it jumped from the high 30’s to low 50’s the next three days. Using the vent system adjustments in the really cold temperatures, as well as in the very warm temperatures, my head never got cold or hot, but was quite comfortable regardless of the temperature.
I’m struggling with this review. Nowhere does Wildhorn specifically advertise that the earflaps are removable so I struggle to deduct a star from them. However, one of the two-reviews posted (and approved for posting by Wildhorn) specifically says that they are removable.
Based in large part on that review, I purchased the Wildhorn Highline helmet for my 19-year old son (who wanted a good MIPs helmet with removable flaps depending on the season and weather). I’m just disappointed as I would have gone a different route on ordering the helmet.
And with a planned trip just days away, it is too late to get a different one.
I really like the design and the quality is really good – adjustable ventilation, Fidlock, FTA adjustability, super lightweight and solid. All these features only come with very high price tags in other major brands.
Compared with my Smith Quantum, it is olny a third of the price. Just unbelievable! My head size is 56cm but ordered Large given that I am Asian, and it fits well thanks to FTA. Earflap is removable, so there’s no problem to wear beanie and goggles under the helmet.

Great All-Around Helmet!! It fits well and its very warm even on those ultra-cold days on the slopes. My go pro fits well on it. I really like the breathability of it. We did however have trouble seeing the adjustment point that were in the instructions when we go it.
still can’t figure that one out. It has an easily removable padding system but if i can figure out the adjustment situation then it will be too loose. The chin strap gave me no trouble and has a nice adjustable Velcro chin pad.
This helmet was a solid choice for me this year. I have a larger head and then add hair on top of it I was concerned it wouldn’t fit very well. That is not the case. I ordered the medium and it worked like a charm.
I have used this helmet quite a bit this season and I have no complaints. It will be excellent to finish out this season and go into next. It is a warm helmet as well. We had a two week stretch where we were skiing in sub zero F temperatures with 10-20F wind chills.
I stayed quite warm. I was also able to layer a thin balaclava on the really windy days with no issue. This helmet is an excellent value. No muss, no fuss. Yes, it is a bit heavier than some of the more expensive helmets.
For those of us who are judicious with where we spend our dollars, this helmet is a perfect area to save a couple while still protecting the noggin.
Great helmet. I run hot on my head, which causes my googles to fog but after getting the Maze, no longer an issue. Lightweight, breathable, comfortable, and most importantly warm. The removable ear pads are easy to remove.
The chinstrap is soft as well. Overall, definitely made the right choice for a helmet.

Bought this a few weeks ago and have used it once on the hill so far. Fit was great and accurate for the sizing given. Colour is also great and matches what’s on website. Love the adjustability of this helmet.

Is indeed a little on the small side but feels comfortable. Also the sound is quite allright! So when i left for my snowboarding trip i was all hyped to shred down the mountains without having to deal with tangled earbuds.
Nevertheless, i fell and broke the helmet. Not with speed or reckless behaviour, i just fell over and the back of the helmet cracked open en parts onderneath broke off. Never seen a helmet do that before, not worth €100 in my opinion.
Just received my new K2 snow helmet. Took flipping ages to get to New Zealand but there’s no snow yet this winter so no stress just stoked it got here. Great product great quality bring on winter!

I had a K2 Audio helmet for 9 yrs, although its still in a good shape, I decided I needed a new one. This is the best value I could find and Im so happy with the purchase. Lime/yellow color is so beautiful and I cant wait to spice it up with some stickers.
The audio system is fine, the base is not on the stronger side but for me its just perfect, I like to be able to hear my surroundings when Im riding. Overall, its a great product for the price.

I bought the florescent orange as it was on clearance just because of the colour. I actually like being seen so it was a win on price point. Me: I am a mature intermediate boarder (grays in trays) I have a size large (danish squarehead complete with corners: )in every helmet I have tried on (60cm noggin) Most helmets don’t fit my head well.
Sz large fit me perfect with no side to side play because of the adjustment system style. The adjustable venting system is a great feature. I wear large OTG goggles and the fit is seamless and helmet allows good goggle venting.
Warm enough to use without a toque. The audio system speakers work well but the cord in mine only allowed for MONO SOUND. Cord is not good only ono sound. I purchased on amazon beats headphone remote cord which works way better.
(ie stereo sound) Helmet is way smaller, lighter and lower profile than my same size Giro Bevel helmet. It will fit in under my hood on my North Face jacket nicely. Did i mention how comfy it is? It is really comfortable as in all day forget its on comfy.

I work on a mountain resort 8-10hrs a day on skis and helmets have been a huge issue. I have been thru GIRO, SMITH, Pret and Oakley and had no luck. Between goggles I really like not seaming up with the helmet to helmet fit issues to overheating it has been frustrating.
So I went to a local store and was trying on helmets, again, and saw the POC line which I had never tried. Grabbed a few and tried them on and landed on the OBEX MIPS. I have skied 115k feet so far this season and this helmet is the one.
Seams perfectly to another manufacturers goggles, fits so well and an easy inside to wipe down and clean if needed. I have skied all day with only adjusting the BOA dial in the back before a run. Lastly the colors are awesome.
I am a huge fan of matte and they nailed it. I wish I had tried on a POC sooner. I love the product so much I am now eyeing trying some goggles.
By far the best helmet I’ve ever owned. sturdy materials, state of the art technology, superior fit, and overall very easy to get a perfect fit with all the adjustment options. More color options would be great, would love to get neon orange, green or blue like my kids POC ski helmets.
The helmet does fit great, but I think a case could definitely be made to split the size range of the largest helmets. L/XL could be separated from XXL, with a little overlap in the different sizes across the board.
I’m at the low end of the size range for the Largest helmet size, so I have to crank it down alot. But I measured myself at 59cm and the helmet definitely dots me at 59, so it’s very true to size. I’m usually wearing a hood/mask anyway, so realistically I’m probably coming in at about 60cm.
My first bluetooth helmet was a RED (aka Anon/Burton) Frequency with a motorola BT unit circa 2005. The unit lasted around 200+ days of riding over 4 years before the BT stopped holding a charge for more than 2-3 hours.
I just got this one in the mail today so we’ll see if the POC can hold a candle to the Motorola. It’s crazy to me that in 2021, this is the ONLY helmet offered with BT. It fits as well as any POC helmet; this is my 3rd POC.
Bit too snug on the ears but it usually loosens up over time. Seems like any typical adjustable-circumference snowsports helmet. (Wish the industry would get on the level of hockey helmets). The goggle strap holder is nice because it’s integrated, instead of some clip-on that falls off.
The vent slider for the top is a little catchy/sticky but it works. The BT unit actually sounds surprisingly decent. Minimal distortion at full volume (plenty loud), not bass heavy so don’t expect your head to reverberate.
The sound stage is well balanced and will definitely leak out to your chair lift neighbors, but it’s safer than using sound-isolating ear buds since you can hear everything around you still. For reference, I have several sets of enthusiast headphones, but nothing above the $500 range.
Two notables; if you cover the earpad/speakers, the bass disappears. (jacket hood might affect this). Also, the top/center panel is matte white, while the rest of the helmet is glossy. This isn’t really depicted online.
The only reason I’d give this a 4-star instead of 5, is that my 2005 helmet had rotating knobs to control volume, track/skip, call//hang-up etc. Seems weird they didn’t add basic button controls. This helmet literally only has one button for power/pause, so you can’t change volume/track.
The lack of this makes it a bit pricey feature wise at full retail msrp.
I bought this helmet because it’s one of the few MIPS helmets certified for both summer (biking) and winter use, which was important to me knowing that material properties can change based on temperature and a helmet that’s safe in one season may not be as effective in another.
It’s really nice to just have one helmet I can use for all seasons instead of keeping multiple around. Pros: – Extremely comfortable – vast improvement over any other helmet I’ve owned. – The actual inside of the helmet can adjust sizes, and in each size there’s some elastic stretch too.
Due to this it accommodates changes in hairstyle or wearing a beanie/headstock underneath very easily. – All-season certification Cons?: – It’s hard to say this is a con becasue I expected it by looking at it, but there’s not as much venting as a dedicated summer helmet.
I am used to skateboard style helmets and it’s about the same as those, but it won’t breathe like a bike helmet so don’t expect that. I live in Texas and I still use it though. – The ear flaps are a little difficult to remove.
It felt like I was going to break them but then they popped out. Could be a bit easier to remove. Overall, super comfortable and a great value, especially considering the alternative of owning 2-3 different helmets for various seasons/activities.
Main thing to know with the new MIPS helmets is how it may affect your size. I’m in the upper end of the medium size range and have worn a medium (non MIPS) Smith Holt helmet for a long time. The Medium MIPS was too small for me so I had to move up to the large.
I’ve seen in various reviews and from support at Smith that the MIPS system (depending on how it’s added to an existing helmet) can make the helmet a bit more snug which makes sense when you see how the MIPS works.
That said if you have the opportunity to try one on at a local shop before buying, I’d recommend it. The Maze is definitely an upgrade from the Smith Holt. The ear pads and chinstrap guard on the Maze are softer and thicker, and removable if you go with the beanie/under goggle style.
The overall helmet shell is similar with some additional rubberized trim on the underside of the brim of the helmet over the foam. The overall look is clean with minimal vents. The goggle strap lock is fairly thin compared to some of the thicker, wider ones and it’s removable if needed.
I’d definitely recommend this helmet, but again if you can try one on beforehand that may help you dial in your size so you can order with confidence and avoid any returns due to fit.
Simple and sleek. Nothing too disappointing. My wife bought a different, cool looking helmet with more “flare”, but this will get the job done. While my wife was acquiring her balance like a child learning to control their head when walking, I was able to hit the slopes right away so it paid off.
Very light weight helmet. Had to get a new thinner ski hood in order for it to fit under the helmet. Seems like it may run the slightest bit small, but take that with a grain of salt. My head diameter was on the greater side of the sizing intervals.

Purchased after my first helmet started falling apart after almost 10years. Super comfortable and has a nice balance of keeping your ears warm on cold days and cool on sunny days. Clip holds the goggles really well also.

All helmets fit differently. Brands will fit some people and not others. Measuring your head and buying a medium simply does not cut it. You have to try it on. Fits with my smith goggles perfectly (cross-brand compatible).
Highly recommended for an intermediate-advanced level skier/snowboarder (or even the avid beginner)!.
I received this helmet as a gift this winter and love lots of things about it. Adjustable venting is a big bonus, it articulates pretty well with most goggles, the style is spot on for me, and I really like the low profile, close fit.
The magnetic chin strap is awesome! The ajustable dial fit in the back really makes sure you are getting the maximum safety out of this helmet. I really want to love this helmet. There are a couple of design flaws that detract from the rating I gave.
The brim of the helmet where it articulates with goggles is fabric rather than hard plastic. This causes moisture (melted snow and / or sweat) to wick down into the brim, then wick into your goggles.
I find when I’m skiing in heavy snow, any high output activity (skinning, bootpacking, hiking) my goggle become a wet, fogged up mess on the inside. Though I find the adjustable venting adequate, I almost always end up with fogging / moisture issues with my goggles.
The brim vents get clogged with snow very easily and don’t really seem to help push air down into your goggles or anywhere that useful. The adjustable venting is great and the adjustable dial for this on the back is a nifty idea, but it doesn’t work well as the sliding vent covers freeze up very easily and prevent opening and closure.
If your head is really warm or cold – this can necessitate a quick trip to the lodge or warming hut 🙁 Lastly, the helmet is audio-ready, but the wire connecting the two headphones has no channel or anything like that to go in.
I found it pretty convenient to fold it up in behind the dial fit adjustment, and haven’t had any issues.
So I’ll start off by saying we returned this helmet simply because my wife’s head shape didn’t match this well — she just found it uncomfortable on her head. But we can give that a pass because everyone is different, it was just too tight in one direction and not enough in another — that’s life and we can’t knock it for that.
Other than that we would have kept it because it is of solid construction and has some neat features. The one-touch ventilation knob at rear was a very nice touch. And the magnetic buckle was easy to use.

Fit Smith helmets well, easy to install, buttons work though ear pads. Audio quality is a lot less than ideal: I have free earbuds that sound better than these and volume needs to be cranked to hear anything clearly (I’m 30 and not hearing impaired).
Battery charger is not accessible though the helmet so they have to be removed to charge, which is a pain. Right v left is not easily distinguished on the speakers but heavily leaned on for explaining functionality.
TL:DR, if you enjoyed Hit Clips from the 90s, you’ll really love this new $120 bluetooth model. If you’ve listened to any portable audio since then, prepare for disappointment.
It’s great to have ambient sound o. The slopes so I can still here my surroundings and friends. It’s also really nice that my friends can’t hear my music so I’m not bothering anyone on the lift with them.
I also appreciate that the wired headphones don’t need to be charged so they just live in my helmet. Set it and forget it. Only gripe is some days they put a little extra pressure on my ear causing a bit of fatigue and irritation.
Maybe some day they will design them to be thinner. I also.
Perfect for my ski helmet! The chips fit into the ear pads, no more hassling with buds. The audio controls are so easy and convenient. I have an older, non-streaming iPod nano model (gen 6), and I assumed the controls wouldn’t work with it, but they do! This makes enjoying music and still being able to interact with other so easy and convenient.

Simple and sleek. My wife bought a different helmet with more “flare”, but while she was busy re-acquiring her balance like a child learning to control their head when walking, I was out hitting the slopes with buddies.
Very lightweight helmet. I did have to buy a different ski hood that would fit under the helmet better. My head was at the greater diameter of the sizing interval though, so take that with a grain of salt.
Two things about this helmet are less than ideal: 1) Instead of a snap in the back, there’s a hook. I took the helmet out for the first day yesterday and my goggles were dangling when I first put it on.
As I went to reach them and pull them over, they fell to the rocky ground and scratched up the lenses. So if you get this, you may want to retrofit some kind of snap to make sure your goggles say secure.
2) It doesn’t have a Boa adjuster to adjust the size. They’ve made it a lot harder to adjust requiring you to take it off each time, make a small adjustment, then try to put it back on. If you want to ski with a balaclava one day and without another and the width impacts the fit, it’s far more involved to change than twisting a dial.
And because of this, the range of fit seems much smaller. Otherwise, nice helmet. Super comfortable.

Whoah. So, I went and purchased (in store) a competitor brand skull cap, got home, put it on and BAM! I looked like Dark Helmet from spaceballs – I then attempted to put my goggles on, nope. Nada. Not happening.
After relentless reading, reviews, YouTube videos (and the occasional cat video) I decided this was the brand for me. “Simply sexy”. I measured my noggin, and landed right on L, Grande! (You’d think they would use a G for grande, but after some translation I figured it out) after a swift purchase and expedited shipping I waited.
Patiently. Excruciatingly patient. While I was at work, I got a notification my package had arrived. I quit my job, ran home and unpacked this marvel of man. The 8th wonder! (Wait, that’s a brewery in Houston) 9th wonder! And man, it’s slick.
Good fit. Not HUGE. The magnetic snap is LEGIT! The ease in which I (could be you) can unbutton the back snap, attach my goggles, and re-snap. Well thought out design! I traditionally dislike engineers.
Pret – y’all’s engineers need a raise. 10/10 would recommend.
I was trying to purchase a different brand, but my size was out of stock. I came across the Pret helmet while trying to find different options. It seemed like everything I was looking for safetywise, and it looks great.
I was so happy to find a purple helmet. Most adult colors are black/white/grey. I decided to order it, hoping it would be the right fit. I’m sure glad I did! This helmet is very comfortable and lightweight.
My go to helmet to recommend! Only flaw is the dial adjustment can get messed up if you crank it counter clockwise (don’t do that just pull it straight out). This helmet pretty much saved my life; had a really bad crash that resulted in cracking the back portion of the helmet.
Luckily I came away alright and I credit this helmet for that! The fidlock buckle should be industry standard it’s ease of use is incredible. Great adjustability with the dial system. Take the ear pads off and you have one of the slickest looking helmets on the mountain.
Closest comp is the Smith Maze, which in my opinion is a significant downgrade, with only a slight difference in price. You’ll really like this helmet!.

Helmet audio sounds about as good as you can expect for the price, the fit is nice and secure. Probably not as protective as a $200 helmet but it does the job
I’ve been skiing for 30 years and I think most gear is subjective. Helmets are no exception. What fits one person won’t be comfortable to someone else. The Quantum was a good fit for me. I have more of a rounded head.
I liked the Pret but it seems to be more for an oval head. I don’t understand the complaints about bulk. A MIPS helmet is constructed to protect from impacts at different impact angles. That will make it a bit bulkier but I don’t think the weight is an issue for me (I’m 6’1″ 190 lbs.
). I’m bald and it’s comfortable without a head liner. Although the magnetic fastener took 2-3 times to get the hang of, it is a huge upgrade and I love it. VERY easy to get on and off. I don’t understand the complaints on this feature.
To be fair, I ski 3-5 days a week. Maybe folks who ski a couple days every 5-6 weeks may not have had enough practice with it? My only complaint, and its a big one and the reason for the 3 stars – this lid is very noisy with the vents open.
For something this expensive, you’d think Smith’s research & development would be able to construct something that doesn’t have this problem. My previous helmet was a Giro, and it was very quiet with the vents open.
I wear the Quantum with Smith Mag googles and the fit is understandably good. I would recommend the helmet, but if you ski with helmet vents open more often than not, you may want to look elsewhere.
I measured my head as instructed before ordering and it fits great. The chin strap is a cool design, easy to use even with gloves on, the magnet making engagement very easy. Vents are easy to use and haven’t run into any excessive heat or cooling issues.
I’ve seen some reviews complaining about weight but I hardly notice I’m wearing it, perhaps because I’m used to heavy full face helmets from other activities. On my 4th day of use I caught an edge and slammed down onto some ice backwards at a decent speed.
It rang my bell pretty hard and I firmly believe I was saved from a head injury thanks to this helmet and MiPS. It’s one day later and I only have a little whiplash. As someone who has taken some hard hits to the helmet, I fully recommend this product.

Purchased this helmet to be used when freeskiing in the spring. I prefer helmets with hard cover over the ears which this model is lacking. I wouldn’t use this helmet on hard surface. What I appreciate with this helmet is the handle in the back which allows you to get a better fit.
I’m actually very confused. Firstly, how do none of the reviews not mention how uncomfortable this helmet is, and secondly, why on earth did Smith decide to have two rigid, cold pieces of plastic digging into the back of your head while wearing this helmet? It makes no sense.
Any time I look up they dig into the back of my neck. Maybe this helmet was better when it had the Boa system, but I’m not sure how this got beyond the drafting board. It’s pretty much the same feel as a cheap/poorly designed bike helmet.
Comfortable fit with a real lock-in feel with the boa! Front vents clear fog from the goggles – great piece of design. and just enough top vents to let out the steam! The magnetic chin strap clip took a minute of struggle to figure out, but now I wonder how I lived without one for so long.
And after all of this, it checks the MIPS box to boot.

Kind of big. The front of my helmet would push my gogles down to where I couldn’t breath out of my nose. It was comfortable, but you’ll also need to wear some sort of cap underneath of it, because it breaths well and will be extremely cold.
I simply used a thin skinned stocking doubled over for my head, and put the helmet on. However, IDK that there is really a good solution for wearing helmets. I’m not a fan so maybe I resist wanting to wear it in the first place.
