20 Best Snow Pants For Kids (2023 Updated)

These seem to be very warm and thick, high quality. I bought these for my daughter for next year. She is currently in size 10-12 in XeroExposure brand but I feel they will be a little too tight for next year.

However, this size 14 is so long, it fits me at 5’5″, but not wide enough for me,so I’m not sure they’ll ever fit my daughter correctly. If you have a thin and tall child, they will probably work well for you.

I bought these snow pants to go with the Columbia quilted jacket. I was a little concerned that they may not stay up without straps, but this has not been an issue. There is a velcro adjustment on each side of the waist so as my son grows, I can adjust and they will always be the perfect fit.

I love that they have the extra seam in the legs. I was really looking for something that would last more than one season, which can prove to be very difficult given how fast kids grow! My son loves his new snow pants! One happy boy and one happy mama :).

High quality, warm, vibrant colours, Thermoheat is great so they are thinner but warm!! Love the adjustable waistband tabs. They are big for my daughter but we can cinch the waist and definitely get two winters out of them.

I wish the pant was a bit narrower in thé leg. Good to accommodate ski boots but maybe not necessary for everyday playing.

I bought these ski pants for my 6-year old nephew to take him skiing with me this season. We have not gone skiing yet due to the pandemic. Really great quality pants though! I like the “Outgrown” feature – My nephew should be able to wear them next season as well (hopefully the pandemic is over by then).

My daughter and I both have Columbia ski gear so it’s a family affair to buy good quality. Columbia is good quality!.

They are excellent quality and an extra large size to fit the more mature person

Ordered an 8 for my very thin and tall 7 year old daughter for her upcoming race season. They are big, but just enough for her to get another ski season out of them next year. Suspenders are very soft and comfortable.

Zippers work perfectly.

For reference I am 120lbs, 5ft, so it is very difficult finding snow pants in the womens section that cater to my height. These were perfect! Length and fit were perfect! Not only that, but saving a couple of dollars buying in the youth section was also a bonus! Altitude Sports also carried a variety of colours in this style which other stores don’t have! I went with the black ones just cuz of versatility, but would love to get a coloured pair in the future! I purchased a size 14 for reference.

16 had too much room in the waist, but the 14s were true to size (not too snug, not too loose).

Well made, warm, daughter loved the colors. I ordered a 12 for my 4th grade daughter who has been in a 10/12 for awhile now. These were fine in the length but much too big in the waist. She has other brands of snow-pants in equivalent sizes that work fine.

She?s thin and average height. We will keep these for next year; I?m sure she?ll grow into them. If you?re between sizes, you may want to size down.

I purchased these snow pants for my 8 year old son. He typically wears a size 10 in clothing and these size 10 pants fit quite well (although they are a little big). The quality appears excellent and the pants seem to be durable.

Although well insulated, the pants are quite lightweight and not bulky. The pants have a seam that can be let out, increasing the length by one size. With growing kids, this is a great feature! The pants also have zippered pockets and boot clips, which are nice additional features.

Overall, very satisfied with this purchase.

Have bought the Squall waterproof bibs for years. They used to be great snow pants and bibs. Really durable seat and knees. However the recent version has removed all zippered pockets in favor of weak velcro.

The velcro doesn’t provide a secure closure, and without this there’s no secure way for children to carry house keys, money, library cards, ski passes, or other items in their jackets without loosing them.

Without zippered pockets I can no longer recommend this product. Without zippered pockets it’s lost it’s utility. Would rather pay a few dollars more for a zippered pocket than have to settle for velcro pockets.

Not to mention that they also fill with snow when the kids are sledding and playing in the snow since they don’t close securely. Please fix this Lands End.

We’ve been purchasing Lands’End squall bib snow pants for a number of years and have always loved the warmth, styling, and durability. This year when we ordered a new pair, we found they’re not the Lands’End quality we’ve come to expect.

The zippers are now all plastic. There are no longer zippers on the pockets, instead a small velcro piece. The elastic is now only in the back of the big. Whereas in the past, it wrapped around the body to the front, making for a tailored and stylish fit.

We hope the quality Lands’End Squall snow bibs we’ve come to love return in the future.

These have been the only kind of snow pants we have purchased for our children. We live in Northern Alberta, we have three children (9, 7, and 5). The first pair we got our oldest was when she was, 5 years old.

She wore her pair for two seasons till she outgrew them-my middle child is now on her first-possibly second year with that same pair. Read that again. Two children will have outgrown one pair-and they are hardly worse for wear.

Are they getting a bit wore down? I guess. in the sense that you can tell they aren’t ‘new and shiny’ but, they still hold out a lot of the wet and my middle has said they are just as warm as when she first put them on.

Also, to clarify-these are the only snowpants they have, these are worn EVERYWHERE they go, some scuffs and scratches but the re-enforced areas are perfect placements, and have held up amazingly well.

I recently just ordered my oldest her third pair, she outgrew another pair. So, if you are for whatever reason still debating if they are worth it. My daughter has had a total of THREE pairs of these from Kindergarten-maybe, maybe Grade 1 to Grade 5.

None of them were replaced due to quality or getting wore out. They were all grown out of, and were in good enough condition to be kept for a sibling. Again, the first pair of these we got, is STILL in rotation at our house.

I strongly suspect we will be able to pass them onto a cousin after this season my daughter may outgrow them, but so far? They don’t appear as though they should be taken off rotation yet. My youngest is also on his second year with his pair we got him last year-the bottom part of the cuff did wear out and I patched them, but this is not a fault of the pants-this is strictly due to them being a bit too long last year-and the pants unrolled no matter what I did to try and stop that (hindsight, I should have just thrown a few stitches in to hold them in place) and they brushed/dragged and tore.

But. Overall-still going. Still keeping him dry, and warm. One note. If you are planning to hand them down to a younger sibling-do NOT utilize the ‘grow with’ feature of tearing that seam to add some length.

Especially if your next child is smaller than your older one was at that age. We had to buy a different set for a season as the length was too long from me pulling the seam.

Got these awesome warm snow pants in black at a great price and they arrived in two days! That’s despite all of the supply chain and delivery delays due to the pandemic and historic floods, and inflated prices everywhere else due to a shortage of black snow pants for kids this winter.

I love how Altitude Sports provides temperature ratings on their winter products. They offer a great selection of winter wear made to withstand hours of play in our cold Alberta winter. Columbia did a great job making these snow pants so adjustable they will last for at least this year and all of next.

The pants are warm, reflective, waterproof and keep snow out of her boots as she loves making snow angels. The reinforced knees are a nice added feature as she is on her knees a lot when playing in the snow.

These are very barely thicker than rain pants. We didn’t get a chance to try them out to see if they’re secretly warm anyway, but I wouldn’t have been willing to test them at this price point even if they did fit.

My son just turned 4, 42”tall, and just moved into 4T clothing but these are more than an inch above the ground even barefoot. No way they would stay over boots as he moved and played. I was shocked as his 3T Cat&Jack snowpants are longer.

There was still an inch or so to adjust the straps but that wouldn’t have changed the inseam length. So bummed that we waited a week or so for these to even ship and another week to arrive. For what it’s worth, they do seem like they’d actually be waterproof (again, didn’t test them.

These are really nice pants and we got a matching jacket. It’s a boxier fit. Our daughter is a tall, slender 8 year old. The length on these is just right for this year but not necessarily next. The waist is fairly loose, even fully cinched, but that’s where the braces help.

The length of the size 12 was actually better, but the waist size was comical on her. She likes them though and they’re well made.

Excellent winter and wet weather trousers for kids. Great quality, very well made and hard wearing. Seeing as the kids are going to spend a lot more time outdoors I highly recommend these. Not the cheapest, but you expect to pay more for quality.

My grandson is just about to use these sallopettes- skiing. All I can say is they look and feel good quality and warm. Fingers crossed

You can’t go wrong with these pants. Love the technical style, great quality, warm and most important flexibility for growth. I have an athletic build 10 year old daughter – leaner frame. She is wearing a small and uses the flexible waist band to keep the pants up.

The legs are a bit short but opportunity to release via the easy-hem. They are worth every cent and appreciate North Face making good quality outdoor clothing for kids.

Runs really big! My daughter is a size 10/12. Which is a large. But i went with an XL because I wanted room for layers and sweaters since we were going to 9 degree weather. This snow bib was basically an adult size.

She ended up wearing a medium snow bib by this brand. The point in me sharing this review… apparently snow bibs are designed with the idea that people will layer. Don’t make the mistake I made by sizing up.

Buy true to size, or even size down a little because this snow bib is very large compared to an XL in this brands leggings/shirts.

We have had these same snow pants in almost all the different sizes, the most recent pair were size 6. They have all been great. Good quality and good fit. Each size was slightly bigger than the last.

We recently ordered the size 7 and while they are quite a bit longer than the size 6, the waist is, if anything, the same size or narrower than the size 6. It would be highly unlikely to get more than 1 season out of them.

These are the second pair of these pants we’ve bought for our son (larger size). They are warm, dry, and easy to put on. Plus I love the fleece bib for warmth and the extendable cuffs for longer wear.

My son loved his new Spyder pants. Warm, comfy and he’lll wear them for a logn time as they seem sturdy and can grow with him. Definitly recommend!

Excellent snow/ski pants for the best price. Windproof, waterproof and insulated. These pants allow for plenty of movement even though the material is not stretchy. I’m 5’9” at 155lbs with 32-33” waist and size ‘M’ fits a medium-sized guy.

Inseam length is designed to be up to 2” long, which is perfect for covering ski boots during movement and while riding up the lift. A smooth inner liner provides a little insulation, so I wear long johns or a technical base layer.

Thigh cut is roomy enough for my thin legs with the base layer and is not excessive. Waist adjustment works great using 5-inch wide Velcro strips on each hip, plus there are 3 belt loops for those who might prefer a belt.

Don’t forget that suspenders are an option- everyone forgets that- but you won’t need ‘em with these great ski/snow pants. Georgia bought, Colorado tested = 10/10! Excellent.

I am a female who usually wears a L/XL but none of the female geared snow pants fit me in my size. The XXL ones were too long and a tad too big. So I found these at my local Dick’s store in men’s section and they fit perfectly.

I went to Mammoth Mt. for opening day and these pants did the job perfectly. Never felt any wetness or cold wearing these (I also had on thermals and leggings too under these snow pants). I will keep wearing these til I wear them out!.

I needed a pair of snow pants for snowshoeing. The arrive on time and are as advertised. I tried them out yesterday at the local snow play area in the Sandia Mountains of New Mexico. After reading the reviews, I opted for a size larger than I would normally wear.

I am a plus size, active woman and find most athletic wear PAINFULLY inadequate when it comes to fit. Such is the case with these. The fit is slightly large but mobility was most most paramount concern and the extra space was very helpful.

Especially when being seated. There is no “give” or “stretch” to these and putting on gear can be a challenge. having the extra wiggle room really helped. I wore them without long underwear or leggings for the first outing as it was a beautiful, sunny high altitude day.

I sweat in them and it was a bit uncomfortable. I would HIGHLY recommend wearing a pair of long underwear with good wicking capabilities underneath to avoid that clammy feel. Not sure cotton leggings would suffice.

The only complaint I have is when you bend over they tend to slid down and expose a bit of your backside require adjustment of the out layers to pull them back up. Even when adjusted using the Velcro side waist straps.

Not a deal breaker. They run a bit long, so I will have to hem them but again not a deal breaker. For the price and the fit, I think these will be more than sufficient for the activities I plan to use them for.

Might even give them a try winter kayaking.

I bought Sz 14y fur my 11 year old boy who is tall and very slim, length fits well but width is a bit on the big side but it will last till he is 14 hopefully; bought my 6 yr old boy the 7 y and it fits as well, he might wear till 7 or 8 as he is on the regular side with height and width; the material is good, it had pockets, and suspenders which are removable, it also has a liner which Amos on but didn’t check if is removable yet.

I was happy with purchase as the material is recycled, price was right and I got the sizes I needed for the boys. See pictures as they help.

well made pants and true to size for my daughter. a neat feature of these pants is you can unclip the front suspenders for the emergency bathroom break, or you can completely unzip the rear and remove the upper suspenders.

the pants have belt loops if you want to run without the suspenders.

My daughter loves these pants. I love the material. She’s a skinny twelve year old. Fits great and should last more than one season.

My son wore these skiing for a week, the weather was below freezing most days and deep snow but they were great, kept him warm and dry and by far the cheapest product I found on the market. Highly recommend.

These trousers are great quality. Very warm and cosy. A little bit smaller than expected but I think a bigger size may have been too big.

A tad short in the leg but warm, waterproof and lightweight. By far the best prices product I’ve bought for outdoor activities this year.

Perfect for harsh New England winters! My daughter absolutely loves this suit! It keeps her warm and dry for hours of outdoor winter play!! Being one piece it prevents moisture from getting in! Easy on and off!.

Very simple design yet they look great. Couple of small issues. The design of the pockets is a bit hard to access as it’s close to your belt line. Maybe it’s to prevent things from falling out when unzipped but still a pain.

Also, I got the blue pants which is prone to these weird white scuff marks. Not very noticeable so not a big deal for me. The string for tightening the waist is super helpful. Didn’t even have to wear a belt.

Rossignol doing what they know the best. Great pair of skiing pants. I had a similar model years ago (sadly, the size does not fit anymore) and was always incredibly happy with it. It’s warm, does not limit movement, fully protects from water, and super durable.

It also looks great (enhances the shape).

They fit my 9 year old daughter well. But it arrived with a stain. So hopefully they were brand new. But otherwise, quality-wise, they are very nice. She will be wearing them this winter so I will be able to assess whether they can hold up to consistent wear and tear.

I was attracted by the low price. But you get what you pay for. Sizing is small. Please size up. I am true S and ordered M, they fit perfectly well. However this pants are very thick, too much insulation.

Don’t allow a lot of movement. I normally wear merino base layer so this pants will be a overkill I had to return them. I’d say if you are a beginner and ski at low temps it will work.

I love these pants but the fit is not accurate. I wear a 32 waist so I ordered the M. Too small and not adjustable. A second set of buttons would have been a small cost and offer flexibility in fit. Also searching the internet for Picture Mens Under Pants yields interesting results.
