20 Best Sneakers For Overweight Woman (2023 Updated)

(Sorry for the length, but these were Awesome!) After a lot of research into the best athletic shoes for a few of the physiological (foot and back) issues I have, I decided to try Brooks instead of my lifelong go-to of NB.

Due to high arches and my active lifestyle, I developed Morton’s Neuroma between my second and third toes, which causes ball of foot pain, tingling, and eventual numbness. I also suffer from lower lumbar spinal stenosis and cannot walk on concrete or other hard surfaces for any distance/length of time without developing a back ache or painful spasms.

Recommendation, without going to plain orthotic shoes, was to have maximum arch support, roomy toebox, and plenty of cushioning. Brooks provides all of these features. I was able to walk for a few hours upon the first time wearing them, and I did not suffer the pain and tingling at the ball of my foot, nor did my feet ache in my arch area! Additionally, my back was not in pain; this was a first in years.

Amazing! I definitely recommend these for anyone with foot issues like Morton’s Neuroma, high arches, or plantars faciatis and painful back problems such as spinal stenosis. (At least, they helped my lower lumbar area, but I cannot verify cervical stenosis assistance.

) Finally, I normally wear 8. 5-9, M width. I order 9 in athletic shoes due to feet sometimes swelling after long hikes/walks, as well as allowing warmer, thicker socks. Brooks, size 9M, fit perfectly and give enough room for all of my needs!.

Absolutely love these shoes, I actually do not want to take them off! Decided to give them a good few tests before reviewing. I have been running in Mizuno the past 8-9 years (previously Brooks) but the two most recent Mizuno pairs were awful to wear because they would not accommodate my orthotics as other models previously had – not enough height to fit them in and so they were super tight.

I decided to go back to Brooks (after finding some physiotherapist reviews recommending them if you need orthotics) and am so relieved I did. The D width is liberating for my wider foot and the height of the shoe is excellent.

They are also super comfy and perform brilliantly on my modest 5km runs, as well as for sprints. Traction has been great on rainy footpath runs and the shoe dries out quickly. Couldn’t be happier with them.

I’ll start with the positives, these are really comfortable. I have issues with heel pain and they really do make a big difference. I recommend them for people with plantar fasciitis or heel spurs. However- do not size up.

I sized down and they are still huge. I usually struggle to fit into a UK 8 / US 10 and find 8 1/2 or 10. 5 to be my usual size. These 8s fit more like a 9 / 11. The style of them also just makes my feet look even more massive.

I will put up with them because it’s either that or walk in pain, but I certainly wouldn’t wear them if I had other options. I’m sure they maybe look okay on smaller feet. Quality is okay but one of the lace loops was really frayed which was kind of disappointing.

I would give the sole / cushion support 5 stars, it’s so comfy and cushiony! That part is perfect! However something about the front is a little tight in width for me. Not for my toes, but for the area right before my toes start.

I’m not sure what it is, but I’ve seen another review or other reviews mention it on other sites. The middle of the shoe is kind of long I guess, so it doesn’t get roomy until the toe area, but I need some more width in the mid-upper area.

I’m still wearing them because it doesn’t affect me too much unless I wear it every day. but I wish it was just a little wider there. Would have been the perfect shoe. (And I wouldn’t say my feet are very wide.

A little wide, but not very. ).

I work in healthcare, and at times am on my feet walking or standing all day. Some days I barely sit down. I have been suffering from PF for many years now, and have tried MULTIPLE styles of shoes from clogs to minimal to cushy.

The best shoes I had ever found were the hoka Bondi 6s. They are very expensive, and no matter how good the shoe is I generally still have to replace my work shoes every 6 months. It was worth it to me though to have little to no pain.

I went to replace them and they had made the Bondi 7s. They did what so many shoe companies do and changed them, and of course the changes were not good. I sent them back and managed to find a pair of men’s Bondi 6 on clearance.

When it was time to replace those, I was on the hunt again. I found these and they have been the closest I have found to those amazing Bondi 6s at half the price! (Well when shoemall runs a sale, which is pretty often) The other plus for me is they have an all black version.

I have giant feet (size 11) and I also need them to match all my scrubs. I just like the look of black on black anyway, plus they minimize the appearance of my shoe size. I sincerely hope Skechers doesn’t stop making these or change them! The ones in the picture are my “worn out” pair that I’m replacing.

As you can see they still look practically brand new. I do donate them, as should everyone! Please try to donate them to a charity that will give them away. P. s. to all my fellow HCWs, my socks are sockwells compression.

They are amazing and the combination of the socks and shoes have helped immensely in enduring long shifts on my feet.

These shoes are truly one of the more comfortable shoes I have ever had. I wanted a supportive yet cushiony pair of walking shoes, and I found them! Because of the dense insert, there is little impact and you take each step.

Two of the best features are ones I wouldn’t normally think about. The shoe laces are stretchy! I love how this adds flexibility to the fit of the shoe as your foot moves (or swells). The other thing I like is a very thin tongue.

Previous shoes I’ve had have had thick tongues, which can be cumbersome as you put the shoe on. These are thin, yet the top of your foot isn’t pinched or rubbed with the tightness of the shoe laces. I am so happy I bought these Skechers GOrun Max.

My husband relies on these shoes for support and NOT the Doctors many prescribed shoes. My husband doctor is very pleased with the stibility of these shoes as his Charcott-Marie Foot Disease and stroke make shoes a necessity upon waking up on the morning to begin any walking with the help of cane or even scooting around with a transportable wheel-chair.

This pair of shoes are easy to put on himself with one hand( due to stroke) and cushioned insole by SAS alone for the Charcott-Marie Foot Disease. Many thanks to SAS for a well constructed shoe.

I needed a pair of semi dress shoes for a wedding. These looked like a good choice, plus they are diabetic approved. The only question I have is why is the tongue strapped to one side of the shoe? It is a stretch material, but it actually makes it more difficult to get the tongue centered when putting on the shoes.

In all the hundreds of shoes I wore over my 73 years, this is the first with a tongue attached with stretch fabric to the sides. I might just cut this loose to make getting into the shoes easier.

The construction of this shoe makes it our choice for older walkers. The velcro closures are a big attraction. Tying shoe laces may no longer be possible for folks with aphasia or dementia, but they can still work the velcro! The shoe holds up to daily use.

This is our 4th pair purchased over the years. Keep making the bone color. It’s the favorite.

For the price, these shoes are great. I didnt want to buy the cheapest pair of racing shoes, but j also didnt want the most expensive. These fit the bill. Comfortable, lightweight, and made by Simpson.

You can feel the quality in these. The sizing was accurate for me.

These are my first pair of Orthofeet shoes, The Sonoma was comfortable from my first step. I’ve had a couple weeks and I feel my walk is more confident, the soles are very secure and gripped well in wet terrain.

I’ve had balance problems in the past, off and on, and these make me feel well balanced in my stride and in each step. It also helps with my arthritis in my knees and hips, the aching is diminishing enough that I notice I am very happy and comfortable.

I will be purchasing many more pairs in the future. And, a side note, I’ve gotten a couple compliments on my shoes, that’s never happened before.

I walk almost daily and my poor arthritic feet have been suffering. My podiatrist gave me arch supports but they don’t work in all my shoes. The Sonoma shoes were comfortable right out of the box (with the extra arch support).

They are cushioned, supportive, and did I say comfortable. This is my second pair of Orthofeet shoes and I couldn’t be happier. My new goal is to replace all my shoes with Orthofeet.

I tried Orthofeet in this very model over a year ago. I’m a big guy, over 300 pounds. I have lower back issues, difficulties in bending, etc. I needed tieless, but more importantly, I needed a shoe whose insole didn’t break down under my weight.

I couldn’t find an affordable shoe and insole that lasted. With the 60 day “try them or return them” guarantee, I ordered my size, figuring I had nothing to lose. I got over a year’s usage of these shoes! That’s unheard of for me.

The insoles are amazing, I dialed each shoe in perfectly, and wore these everyday until I wore a hole in the one bottom sole, and the fabric gave way on top where my motorcycle shifter finally wore through! I’m on my second pair, and bought a third pair so I can alternate.

Budget constraints before precluded two pairs. I’ve done the math, however, and believe I’ll be glad I bought two pairs this time. The support and reduction of pronation is excellent. The way the insole molds around the foot is wonderful, and gives a great stride with super comfort.

I wear a wide rather than normal, and the heel portion of the sole is 3/4” wider, which is the kind of comfort and sizing I need to be comfortable. I guess you could say I’m now a lifelong customer! Highly recommended.

I’m 65 years old, and while I don’t have diabetes, I do have RA and an underlaying of lupus. I have hammer toe on four toes on my left foot, and the fat pads on the bottom of my feet have thinned out and moved forward.

It’s like walking on pebbles. I’m prone to sciatic nerve pain, plantar fasciitis and a whole myriad of foot problems associated with seniors. I bought a pair of shoes in a 4E width from a name brand shoe.

While they offered relief for the hammer toes, and were relatively comfortable, they were also heavy. I bought the Tahoe shortly after, and what a difference! They address the hammer toe issue, they offer a good arch support and the stability I need.

I noticed a difference almost right away and I didn’t feel like I needed as much as a break in time. I stand on my feet for 5 hours for my part-time job. While I am tired at the end of the day, my back, hips, legs and feet aren’t in pain.

I feel like I can move at a decent pace. They come with arch boosters and if you need better arch support, then give them a try. I would highly recommend these shoes. They are well worth the investment.

I have suffered for years with foot problems – fusion of big toe for arthritis, loss of all cartilage (arthritis again) on the outside of one foot causing the need for an AFO brace, misshapen foot due to the arthritis, bones where they’re not supposed to be, a bunion on the other foot, stasis ulcers, you name it.

The bottoms of my feet have hurt for years as well. I stumbled on your website quite by accident. I ordered the Tahoe and I’ll admit to being a little skeptical, but WOW! My feet haven’t felt this good in years.

I did change the laces out to elastic ones, just because I also have arthritis in my hands. I put these shoes on and found there was no break-in period and they felt like they were made just for me. I can’t wait to try some of the other shoes for AFO braces.

I just purchased the black paisley hightops for my boyfriends birthday and he wears them everyday to the gym. He has a flat foot and needs all the ankle support he can get as a body builder, so these babies were the perfect addition to his pulled up “vans” ankle socks! lol I must admit though, the man definitely pulls the look off so dont be surprised if you start seeing a trend-setting of body builders with their hightop vans and pulled up matching socks at your local gyms! 🙂 FYI: keep in mind that his foot is very narrow and flat so his ext room may have been bc of how narrow his feet are and the only option was the WideD.

I always have to wear shoes because of a bad ankle and fallen arch. I bought the Joelle Stretch Knit Gray to use as my house shoes; they are very stable with great support. The wide heel base means I won’t step on the side of my heel and twist my ankle.

The breathable mesh keeps my toes cool while I’m cleaning house. The Arch Booster prevents over-pronation. But I swapped the 9M arch supports from my 9M shoes with 9. 5M to give more support for my fallen arch.

(Everybody’s feet are different, maybe I just have a long arch relative to short toes). The velcro is very strong so I’ve set the velcro just big enough that I can hold the tongue and heel and pull the shoes on without undoing the velcro.

They aren’t “slip-on” per se but they are close enough to slip-on for me.

I have wide feet with pain in the bottom of both feet from nerve damage due to back problems, as well as bunions on my big toes and ankle pronation. I cannot go barefoot because of the pain. I needed a roomy, non-confining, lightweight shoe with lots of cushioning on the bottom.

I originally ordered 9 1/2 wide and even with the stretch I felt I needed more room. I then ordered a size larger (10 1/2) and the “extra” wide which, to my surprise, fit well! I finally had pain-free feet! I had been skeptical to try OrthoFeet, since I have tried so many shoes over the years that promised to solve all my support and foot pain issues, but these are the only shoes I buy!.
