20 Best New Products For Textured Hair (2023 Updated)

I’ve tried a lot of curl styling creams, sprays, lotions, and gels. Sometimes they worked, sometimes I had curls that were living their best 90’s life in crunchy land. Before I processed my hair into blown out submission, I had nice ringlet type curls, but after it was all blown out and straw like.

Unless I styled it, usually with a curling wand, it would be a mess that I kept bound in the all-purpose bun. Now this stuff didn’t work straight away, though that was probably my fault because I ignored the directions and kept adding a bunch because my hair is a thirsty beast and I thought it would take more product to do anything.

All that happened was I got weighed down hair that curled but didn’t feel right. So I tried again, the correct way, and the results were like night and day. I went from frizzled, gross, troll hair to actual natural curls.

My routine is to just apply it after my showers alongside the leave-in conditioner I also received. For the first time in YEARS I can actually let my hair air dry without it puffing up and looking unkempt.

I loved it so much I already ordered another bottle. BONUS: My nephew has frizzy curly corse hair, and just for fun, I tried it out on his hair and he had the same results. His curls have shape, his hair is smoother, and he can actually let his hair grow out more and not look like a little q-tip.

All in all, this product was a 100% win.

While on vacation, I took a sample of this along to try. I have naturally wavy hair that has been permed to be more curly. So, after shampooing, I towel dried my hair and used a leave-in conditioner.

Then I applied some of this all over and worked it in. I really loved the feel of it; slippery, but not oily. I used a fairly generous amount and then let it air dry. My hair loved it! I have a spot that is hard to work with; it’s kind of a frizzy patch (yuck).

It even worked great on that spot. My hair turned out curly and full and not frizzy. I liked it better than some other curl enhancing creams because it didn’t make it all crunchy. I’m going to buy the full size next.

I’m switching from my old brand to this.

This product had grown on me with continued use. Initially it was my least favorite of the three Mizani products I’ve been using; given the immense amount of products on the market, it didn’t stand out as a product I “have to have”.

In order to be absolutely certain of my opinion, I cut out all other hair care (styling) products. I found that this product works best as a last step. Using 2-3 pumps for my whole head, I ran the product through my detangled curls to evenly distribute it, followed by some targeted applications (in thicker areas) and some scrunching motions to get the best curl definition.

While it doesn’t advertise any kind of “hold”, I found it did provide some light hold that kept my curls naturally defined, less frizzy, and without any kind of crunchy stiffness or waxy residue! I even used this product and a few more from the Mizani brand on my 16 month old’s 3c tresses.

It has an amazing scent and a very nourishing formula that leaves my hair so so so soft! I have fallen in love with this product and Mizani as a “Budding Naturalista” ( I havent used any chemical relaxer is over a year).

If you are looking for great haircare perfect for ethnic hair, especially naturals, then Mizani is a brand worth checking out! I will be purchasing this product once this initial bottle is gone.

I came across this brand when a friend recommend their kids line for my daughter (which I absolutely love) so figured I’d try a product out myself. Wow. This curly gello is everything! Love that it’s a one and done product; no need to combine with another and it keeps my curls lasting for days if I do my part and wrap my hair at night.

And you simply cannot beat the price. Also love that they are in my city, Atlanta and are black-owned. I will continue to support for those reasons but the biggest reason being that their products are simply amazing! Keep doing your thing, Taliah Waajid!.

I bought this product at a beauty supply store and never used it. I decided to use it on my natural 3c hair because I wanted to use something that won’t discolor my gray/white hair. This product is absolutely amazing! I pair it with a leave in conditioner, and my curls moisturized with definition.

I refresh with water and I’m ready. I love that my hair is soft to the touch without flaking or leaving a sticky residue.

I mistakenly picked this one up. I went specifically for the Curly Creme (the thick one). When I got home and opened the jar, I was like “Aww man, I didn’t want this one!!!) Well I decided to use it anyway and MY GOD, when I put it in my damp hair and the immediate detangle and slick and CURLS.

I fell in love. The dried results were amazing. It eliminated my two step Curly Creme and Eco gel routine which gave me amazing results. But this GELLO, though!!! It gives me the same identical results but in one step.

NEVER stop making this product. NEVER.

I thought I had wavy hair with a few curls bec my hair transitioned from nearly straight to wavy then added some curls, so I bought the wavy leave in and was so-so about it since it accented my waves but did not impress me other than leaving my hair soft.

I bought this thinking it would be too heavy since my hair is fine and thinning. Boy was I ever shocked and impressed with the curls I have! I wear my hair shorter, no part so I apply and scrunch as best I can.

Curls are defied, soft and beautiful; slightly looser on day 2; revived with spritzer of fine mist on day 2, though looser until I added the Sea Moss gel. Now my curls are beautiful 2 days in a row, ans once on day 3, which I usu do not extend to.

Very happy with this product that air dries soft and defined without weighing down my fine curls. The reviews by ethnically white ladies inspired me to try something that I had thot did not fit my curl type; I am so glad I was wrong!.

I have to give the “Step 3 Curly All-in-One” product 5 stars. I have 3B/3C type of curls but my hair is VERY fine. Getting older, I was looking for a product that I could just work into my hair, comb it out and go.

But my hair strands are SO fine, I didn’t get the desired effect. The spirals were all separate and looked too frizzy (for me). So I used my tried and true method of using my fingers to “train” many strands into larger spirals, and my hair for the first time did not look dry and frizzy.

Even my husband said that my curls looked really hydrated. I was a bit stunned when he used that word to describe hair. And my curls lasted all night, and well onto the next night. It truly tamed frizz and made my hair look hydrated and healthy.

The product may not have reduced my effort put into styling my hair, but, it worked amazingly.

This is the first time I’ve ever written a review on a curl product because most of the time I’m underwhelmed. I’ve tried so many expensive and popular products – Kerastase, Redkin, Morrocanoil, Verb, Bumble & Bumble, etc.

Many of these are just okay and each have their pros and cons but nothing has quite checked off all the boxes like this one does! I was very skeptical about all the hype because I figured it would be another “okay” product but nothing special.

Still decided to give it a shot since it’s not unreasonably priced. First, I followed the instructions to a T. After I washed and conditioned my hair, I basically just squeezed out the excess water with my hands as best I could in the shower.

Didn’t use anything else. As soon as I got out of the shower I used a very wide-tooth comb to detangle and that was it. Then applied a small amount of the product through very wet hair. To give an idea of how much I used, I think I use about 3-4 pumps and my hair is about average thickness and shoulder length.

The first day I let it air dry. I’ve since used a diffuser a few times when I’ve had to rush out of the house (it’s winter and cold where I live, can’t always wait for it to air dry). My hair is fairly course and in the front it’s more wavy and in the back it’s got a loose curl.

It’s also very dry and very damaged in some spots due to excessive heat styling. The reason I often heat styled it was because I could never achieve the curl pattern I wanted around my face and so I’d use an iron to curl some pieces.

Over time these sections have just become fried and now REALLY don’t curl well on their own. So basically I made the problem worse. I thought I was looking for the impossible – I wanted soft, shiny, defined curls, reduction of frizz, no need to use a ton of product, repair qualities, and the ability to tame and help curl the really damaged spots in front despite nothing else having worked.

I thought I was asking the impossible. Well, I am shocked. Not only does this product give me soft, touchable, defined curls (not quite as defined when I diffuse, but still defined enough for my liking – it’s just a different look), and the front damaged part.

it’s like magic. It’s curling! And the curl pattern is actually nice looking! There is one small piece that I think is so beyond saving that it will no longer curl. But Lus still made it smooth and not frizzy and I can easily camouflage that one little piece.

Every other damaged piece got smoothed out and also curled! For the first time in a long time my fingers are not itching to grab the curling iron to fix these front pieces. Amazing! If this is what it does to severely damaged hair I can’t wait to see what it does when these damaged pieces eventually grow out, get cut, and become healthy again.

I’ve been converted. On the second day after sleeping the waves and curls definitely are looser but I’m ok with that, they still look good and aren’t frizzy, it’s just a different, looser look. I’m not looking for my hair to look the exact same every day, as long as it looks good, I’m happy to rock different looks.

The only thing I’m not completely in love with is the scent. I find it a bit strong for my liking when smelling it straight from the bottle, but once I put it on my hair it was much lighter and less noticeable.

When it dries I barely even smell it at all. So the only thing I would suggest is different scent options, but scent is such a personal thing so some people will love it. Again though, this is a minor issue because I don’t even notice it once the product is on my hair and dried.

Again, I am shocked and amazed because I’ve never been so excited over a hair care product. The price is even fair, in my opinion. I should note I have not tried the wavy option yet. Because my hair is so dry and damaged I wanted the heavier-duty curly option.

Once my hair is fully healthy again I might try the wavy one to see the difference.

I want to love this because it really does work. My strands are glossy without being greasy or heavy. Even my porous, bleached strands of hair end up bouncy and HYDRATED. But the smell is floral and a punch to the face.

It’s almost like a very sharply dressed granny in a gladiola garden. It lasts for HOURS. Which might be a plus if you like the smell, but because I didn’t and my hair is usually down, it’s almost suffocating.

How I work around this is to dilute it with a little bit of my regular conditioner. The price and the results are great. But what puts me on the fence to repurchase is the scent.

I have type 2C and my son has type 3B curls and this product works for both of us. It has a nice smell and helps keep our locks moisturized and shiney without weighing it down. I’ve notice our hair is softer and our curls better defined since we started using this product line.

It’s definitely simplified our routine.

I love all Enjoy products I use their shampoo and conditioner daily. I naturally have thick, long, straight hair. I also naturally have volume. I didn’t think it would help a whole lot, but it did!!!! It gave my hair clean body that was incredibly different than my regular body.

I feel like it has given me personality with my hair that I didn’t have before! I love it!.

By far my favorite hair product. I’ve tried a tin of different powders, gels, sprays, waxes, and pomades, but nothin my even compared. It lasts forever (only need a small amount) and it has amazing hold while keeping your hair soft and manageable.

Huge fan of this one, it’s now the only product I use.

I have fine, naturally curly hair with a 3A curl pattern. This product has been a life saving texture cream for my type of hair. I add it when my hair is almost completely dry after drying with a diffuser and just a little bit adds an amazing amount of texture with the right amount of hold.

I will continue to buy it!.

I am African American , who has 3C/4A natural curl pattern. I have no chemicals in my hair. The curl cream gave me #blackgirlmagic. My curls popped. I must say though the Nicole and Brizee Instagram photos does not represent my hair type or most African American hair types.

I think you may want to tweak your posts. You may need to check out naturallycurly. com to research African American hair types. I have read negative posts on the Instagram, where people are disappointed on the photos they see that don’t represent us.

Smells amazing! I love how its not too thick, not sticky and very easy and smooth to apply. I love it when I air dry my hair. My hair is very long and wavy. I have fine hair but a lot of it. I use the curl cream along with the volumizing gel.

Makes beautiful waves in my hair. The hold is pretty good, but I am not sure how it would hold up in the humid summer months. Id maybe need to add a stronger hold product and hair spray. But overall I love the product and I also apply it to the ends the next day to refresh my curls and add smooth them.

I’ve used a few products in the past promising to define my wavy/curly/cavewoman hair that have left much to be desired. I thought that might be the fate of Wavetech, too. I’ve seen the videos of Brad reacting to users’ results, so I decided to give it a shot.

The first go-around, I opted to comb it into my wet locks, scrunch and diffuse dry. Frizzy mess with very little cur definition. The next time, I combed it into my wet hair, scrunched and let it air dry.

Slightly better results, but even my wide-tooth comb broke up my curls into very small sections, and it just didn’t look pretty when dry. The third time, I decided to comb conditioner through my hair and make it ultra smooth before rinsing.

When I got out of the shower, I skipped the comb altogether and just used my hands to work Wavetech through my length and ends, scrunch a bit, and let it air dry. To be clear, I did this while my hair was still slicked back from the shower rinse, I didn’t comb/brush/part it AT ALL.

The results this time were AWESOME. My hair doesn’t come out quite as voluminous as those viral videos would have you believe (and I truly believe those girls are taking a curling iron to fix stray pieces before showing off the final “result”), but the curls are there and defined, frizz is minimal, and my hair is actually presentable without needing to heat style it.

I’m still trying to figure out how to sleep on it without ruining all the curl, but I have gone back and re-wet any flat sections and reapplied Wavetech to those spots for a refresh, and that worked well.

The reason I didn’t give it five stars is really two-fold: following the directions as stated on the bottle did NOT work for me. I had to play around with it and find how my hair would best react. Second, I REALLY HATED the smell at first.

It was reminiscent of a man’s body wash when I first smelled it and I was not into it. I’ll say I’ve grown to like it. Try Wavetech and play with how to use it. I think you’ll like it.

The day I purchased this product, I had just gotten a glaze done on my hair after being dye free almost a year, and growing out my natural color/grays. I wash my hair once a week – alternating shampoos and conditioners.

All three uses below started with a base of Maui Moisture Curl Quench Control + Coconut Oil Curl Smoothie as my leave-in conditioner. The first time I used it I was amazed because it created such a nice cast on my curls, and did not get frizzy, even after diffusing.

What I love is that my hair is moveable when I use this. I can play with the curls and nothing gets crazy on me. What I don’t like is that it does not hold volume, and on day two, I had no curl left – as it was.

So, day 2 I rewet it and scrunched in my Maui Foam Mouse in for more curl hold. This was routine throughout the week, and at the end, I could feel some buildup. Par for the course. The second time I used it, I used a bit less and added the Maui Foam Mouse.

Again, the XMondo kept it hydrated, kept it smooth, and moveable and the Maui did help to enhance volume, and retain the curls better throughout the day. That week I kept rewetting with some leave-in condition in my water – and it worked well.

But the volume deflated and the curls weren’t as curly. This third time I washed, I did not use the XMondo. I put in my Maui Smoothie, and my OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Curling Perfection Curl-Defining Cream, and air dried.

On day 4, I soaked my hair and added the Maui Foam Mouse and diffused. The curl and volume were amazing, my hair was shiny, no frizz, great cast on the curls, and it was movable! They held all day and I was like, huh? I don’t think the movement, shine, and anit frizz had any thing to do with the XMondo product – it was the result of the glaze! However, I will note that my hair does not feel as soft, day 5, as it has after using XMondo – so it does offer a moisture content that holds up, that my products do not.

I was really hoping this product would work. So much so that I’m so upset it didn’t work. But I’m hoping this review will potentially help somehow someway. And again, I didn’t want to give a one star review, but there were several things that just made this product so bad for me personally.

First and foremost, this product is super oily and super sticky. I use hair products daily (cosmetologist and all) and my hands just stick to everything. Furthermore, my hair is super thick, not too fine but not too corse either, and has a natural wave.

I guess I’m one of those people this just doesn’t work on. But after applying it to my hair, in sections just to get in there evenly, it’s just oily – straight up greasy and not the best feeling. I get a wave here or there but it feels so heavy, even with minimum product.

I’ve tried applying like instructed, I’ve tried applying when dry, I’ve tried applying and then trying to hairdry a little – nothing works. Waited various amounts of time, tries less product opposed to more product.

All I get is grease and frizz. I’ve had to shampoo my hair about four times just to get the product out as it left a greasy, oily film on my hair. I can’t express how gross it made me feel. Again, I’m really, really, really upset because I want this product to work and was wanting to give a better review.

Final result by styling standards was getting a wave I could achieve just by letting my hair air dry after a regular shampoo: uneven waves and frizz. So sorry!! But my hair is the way it is and hope it works better for everyone else.

Still love Brad Mondo though!!.

This was one of the first new products I’ve tried while playing around with revamping my full curl routine. Curlsmith in general has been an integral part of this reworking process and most products I like, love, I’m neutral towards, but this one I actually dislike.

At first I thought it was working on day 2 and 3 hair between washes. I’d use this, then a small amount of my Curl Defining Styling Souffle to redefine my curls. The second and third day curls were decent, and definitely an improvement over my old routine.

By day three though, my hair looked dull and felt greasy. I stopped using this after a few weeks and just sprayed in water instead, and got the EXACT SAME curl redefinition/reactivation as I did with this spray.

I have 3B/medium porosity hair, and water literally worked just as well as this to reactivate my curls between washes. Water was actually better because my hair didn’t feel greasy or weighed down like it did with this.

I tried various amounts of this spray to try and prevent the heaviness, but any less and I simply wouldn’t get any reactivation. My only negative product because not only was water (which is of course exponentially cheaper) work as well to reactivate curls, it was actually an improvement because it doesn’t weigh my hair down.

Now all I can do with it is use it lightly on my 6 year old’s hair after her shower (straight, fine hair) to try and get some use out of it since I don’t want to pour $24 down the drain. On well, mostly I’ve hit wins with Curlsmith, this is so far the only complete loss.

I have medium porosity, low-medium density, very fine/fine texture hair. My hair is wavy from the root, with the curl pattern starting several inches down. The pattern stretches out the longer my hair gets.

I can achieve loose waves and loose curls when my hair is shorter, and from medium to long length I can get my hair to curl into defined ringlets with the right product combinations. Without any product, my hair is fluffy, frizzy, and/or limp at any length.

These are some of the characteristics of the wavy hair family (type 2). If your hair doesn’t spiral from the root, you’re most likely in the wavy family, as well, not type 3 curly. (Knowing your hair type is extremely important because some of these moisturizing products just aren’t made for us Wavies, and that’s okay! Embrace the wave! 💁🏻‍♀️🌊🥰) Over the holidays I tried a bunch of Curlsmith products, but almost none of them worked for my hair.

I mostly tried the orange line, the moisturizing line for curly hair. Well, unsurprisingly, they are too heavy/too much for my type of hair. Everything I tried (mousse, creams, etc. ) made my hair greasy and weighed it down.

I also didn’t even get the benefit of great curl definition which was a big disappointment. Darn. But! I played around and discovered that this product is GREAT for my hair on day two and beyond after washing.

(I wash and style every 3-7 days depending on activity levels. Super sweaty gym days mean I have to wash sooner. ) The Moisture Memory Reactivator brightens my curls right up! The curls are perky, bouncy, no frizz, great definition and clump together beautifully.

Moral of this story: If you’re in the wavy family (or maybe even curly or coily families!) and didn’t succeed at first, try using this on DRY hair, after it’s been styled, a day two or later. The results might surprise you!.

I wanted to love this product. And initially, I did. It does what it says – I can take day 4 hair, spritz it in, scrunch, and my curls revive like magic. However, it’d definitely a one-day wonder. I found that it leaves my hair sticky and tangled after and I definitely will need to wash it the next day.

But as a one day emergency solution, I was impressed! So for those of you who don’t dye your hair, it may be worth it. However, there’s not color safe and then there’s *this*. It’s the only product I’ve ever used that literally tries to pull out my dye while it’s on.

I often use semi-permanents as a touch-up, and when I spray this on my hair I’ve noticed my color coming off on my fingertips, which it would never do with any other product (using the wrong shampoo and color coming out in the shower, sure? Spraying on a styler and ending up with color on my fingertips, what?!).

It may be fine with the more permanent dyes, but I’m not keen to find out. In general, I don’t find Curlsmith to be color-safe, but this was by far the worst of the lot. Even though I appreciate its one day magic, the hassle of needing an immediate wash the next day and the risk of my color flaking off while dry turned me off.

Your mileage may vary.

I have fine, thin 3A curls, about 50% grey. I liked Pura D’or’s Curl Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner so much, I decided to give the curl cream a try. The consistency is very thick, almost a paste. The smell is herbal, not the coconut or flowery smell curl creams tend to have.

(Probably because it’s marketed as a unisex product. ) The smell doesn’t linger once it dries. I was a little hesitant to use such a thick product on fine, thin hair, but it works. I used a pea-sized amount on wet shoulder length hair and my hair isn’t weighed down at all.

In fact, I have more volume than normal. My curls are bouncy, shiny and soft. I used gel over the cream because my hair frizzes up if you look at it too hard, so I can’t speak to the curl cream’s ability to prevent frizz.

It definitely moisturizes.

I really like Pura D’or products so I was excited to try this one, however it’s just not good for me. It made my hair greasy and stringy and gross looking. I tried it a second time and just used a tiny amount and still hated it.

I accidentally got a little bit on my scalp and it stung. Luckily Vitacost gave me a refund.

Originally bought this from the company directly & i was skeptical at first because let’s face it trying a new product is always nerve wracking because it’s always hit or miss. I’ve got to say i was pleasantly surprised.

I SWEAR by the Devaurl Coconut Styling Cream & I’ve got to say this gave me similar results and for an even better price. It does not have a strong hold the way Devacurl does but honestly i prefer my curls lightweight so it works for me.

Also i’d like to add i have crazy curly hair & i live in Florida where it’s humid ALL THE TIME & my hair stays phenomenal. It does have a pretty strong smell in a good way. Not quite as great smelling like Devacurl but it’s not obnoxious.

I would definitely recommend this to all my curlies out there. Do not hesitate just give it a shot, it will not disappoint.

It does what it says, it’s CURLSSS but my only problem with it is, every time I apply it to my hair, even with repeatedly spraying my hair with water, it makes some sections of my hair feel like straw, its just that weird feeling you get when the hair feels like bone dry.

I’ve tried different ways to avoid it but it always does that. The feeling goes away after layering it with a gel but I personally feel that shouldn’t be a result of the process. If you want a curling cream get it, it’s good, I just would beware of that feeling and take measures for a smoother application.

I digress though, everybody’s hair is different. I used it often but haven’t used it recently, I’m on the hunt for a new/better one. Final thoughts, I recommend this to anyone who wants to find out if they have curls cause THIS will do it, you just have to test it out yourself to scope out your experience.

Definitely not crunchy or hard. My daughter has a top of 3A bottom 3B curls. Her hair is also more fine. I will say this product is fairly heavy on her hair so we don’t use much. It does have Cocoa Butter Shea Butter.

It has a very light smell to it. I think it would be decent for some but it’s just to heavy for my daughter hair to repurchase. Does come in a hefty 12oz container.

Right out of the shower, he uses this and moisturizing oil, plops overnight, and I have never seen his curls so happy.

For my hair, it was amazing for moisturizing but was too heavy for my curls. Again, it literally says on the bottle but I thought I would try for fun. We’ve tried 3 products from this company so far and we are probably going to be forever customers.

The ones we have are curlsbot approved, smell incredible, and feel amazing. I cannot praise them enough.

Winter is a challenging season for both skin and hair. I feel like I my hair care is covered with NatureLab Perfect Texture Curl Cream. This is a superb conditioning curl cream that is designed to reduce frizz, define and even resist humidity and it works beautifully.

This is definitely a product that you want in your suitcase too. If you are headed for any tropical spot this winter, put this on your packing list. I like that this product is color safe and heat protectant too.

These are two primary things that I look for in any kind of hair products. This product has a wonderful fresh clean fragrance and it’s cruelty free. This styling cream is easy to use as well. You do not need a lot to get results.

I always like to say start small and work your way up. I start with a quarter sized amount (depending on how long your hair is )and then work it through my wet or lightly towel dried hair. You can gently scrunch and shape the curls and allow it to air dry or do like I do and dry gently with a diffuser.

This really helps to reduce frizz and leave my hair looking nice all day long. This is a great gift for a curly haired friend. Gifted by NatureLab.

I have naturally thick, curly hair. I use this cream for wash and go days, and it is perfect. It is lightweight and doesn’t make my hair crunchy. It makes my curls defined, holds all day, and my hair looks healthy.

I love that it controls frizz, but isn’t sticky. I have medium length hair and I use a little more than a quarter size amount. I haven’t tried plopping my hair with this cream, so I’ll try that next.

I don’t feel like I have to go through that process to get nicely defined curls with this cream, though. The scent is also very light and not really noticeable. I layer the leave in conditioner from the same line underneath this, and they work together very well.

If you have Indian type curly hair, this is a really good product to try. I like it better than more expensive brands I’ve tried at Sephora/Ulta. Gifted by NatureLab, but a definite repurchase for me, I love it.

This was my first time trying this brand and I’m super impressed – from the packaging to the amazing ingredients and the results I got! So, I have hair that is sometimes wavy and sometimes quite curly, depending on how I am caring for my hair and what products I am using.

I used this product as directed and applied it to my hair that was lightly towel dried. I let it air dry for a while and also diffused it to finish it off. The curls are soft and shiny and my hair is not crunchy, but it does have hold.

I am excited to use this some more for my curly hair days. The product is very large, so I am happy this will last me a while. I really appreciate that this was gifted by NatureLab. I’m so happy it’s Curly Girl Approved too!.

I have worn texturizer for many years, but Texture my way is by far the best. I can find where I live which is an inconvenience. Highly recommend this prouct!

I’m usely write good reviews because I believe what does work for me will for from some one else. But not this product all thought the product smell good its dry out your scap with cause breakage. The only positive thing I have to say is this product is the reason I’m been natural for 4 years now.

Oh. my. gosh!! I have never had a product work like this before! I have fine 3b/3c hair that has issues with volume at the root. I get my hair cut and colored by a curly hair specialist. Using this one product has me looking like I just left her salon.

She typically has me lay down so my hair hangs and diffuses it and then breaks my curls up my hand before sending me on my way. I’m too lazy to do all that on my own so I look for a product to get me as close as possible.

This does that! After I detangle I pump a couple pumps in my hands and then work through my hair that is sectioned in 2. I let my hair air dry. My hair has perfect curls that are firm (not crunchy) and healthy.

There’s volume at the root after I shake it out when fully dry. I decided to use this product on a 92 degree humid day in Pittsburgh. I had the windows down in my car and was sweating up a storm and my hair looks marvelous.

I love the scent, it smells like fresh peaches to me. Not the artificial peach scent but like you just baked a peach cobbler. I cannot say enough good things about this product. It’s absolutely a holy grail.

The only downside for me is the pump. I find that product leaks down the bottle unless I tip the bottle directly into my hand which is annoying because I have to hold the bottle and get it slimy with leftover product.

I could just have gotten a bad bottle, but it will not defer me from purchasing this as long as The Doux makes it!.

This mousse saved my summer hair! I have struggled for years and spent a ridiculous amount of money on products to help control frizz in the summer. So far, this is the only product that has worked— and it has worked amazingly well! Tips: 1.

Use on damp, not wet, hair. Get as much water out of your hair as possible before applying the mousse. 2. Don’t use with oil. 3. Apply a small amount of leave in before using the mousse, about a dime to nickel size per quarter section depending on how coarse and dense your hair is.

(not necessary but helps to add moisture) 4. Saturate your hair in the mouse then rake your fingers through the curls for better curl definition.

I heard other reviews and videos rave about this mousse and had to try it. I have to say, they are right. I have fine texture, low porosity natural hair. My hair is short, but when stretched the back comes to my collar bone and the front comes to the end of my nose (to give you a reference).

I get good definition using a gel, but this product really defined my hair, and I had more body. Body is a problem for those of us with fine hair. My curls lasted 4 days, especially in the top which is longer.

My hair is shorter on the sides and since I sleep on my side the definition fades sooner. I still had a little definition on my sides day 4, but the top still had curls. The first time I used it I only used a moisturizing deep conditioner and the mousse.

It did great defining my curls, but left my hair very dry. The next time I used a moisturizing deep conditioner, leave-in conditioner, a moisturizing gel, and a sealing oil with the mousse. Sounds like a lot, but this is the process I have to use every wash day to keep my hair moisturized for 3 days.

I did not have any problems with dry hair at all this time. This mousse has become part of my weekly regimen.

The best curl product I have ever used! It is also light so it does not weigh my hair down. Love it! I use it in my damp hair followed by Bounce Curl light cream gel.

I have mixed feelings about this product, but mostly love. First , I must say that you have to use it according to instructions or it will not work at all like it is supposed to. Your hair should be damp, not wet.

I absolutely love the fact that it clumps and defines my curls, and the hold lasts all day! It works alone to define and moisturize. When I used leave in, it clumped up with this product. Don’t do that! Lol.

The only cons I have is that if you use this daily, it will build up on your hair and in your scalp if your hair is short. I find myself having to wash every 3 days or my hair is gross and no good. If I could find a way to refresh my hair on day 2 and 3 without using more product, it would be great.

Also, this mousse gives a really hard hold for me. Your curls will look amazing, but will not be soft. There are videos posted on The Doux IG page for product use instructions which is great! My curls are type 3B/C, although this mousse works on all curl types.

I recommend this product for anyone who is growing out their hair from a barber cut, and anyone who needs definition and doesn’t like to use a lot of different products to achieve a great style.

I love trying out new curly hair products and sometimes it takes some trial and error to get the right amount or application technique, but I was so happy with the results with this curl defining cream from the first use.

This is definitely one of the best curl defining cream products I have ever used and I have consistently had good results with it. For reference I have fine textured 2C/3A curl pattern hair and I like products that enhance the definition without weighing down my hair too much & sacrificing volume, which I feel this product did well.

I applied it (as I typically do with cream products) on soaking wet hair under gel and diffused it dry. A little goes a long way on my hair type and I used a pea sized amount on two sections with good results.

This product has a pleasant scent that isn’t overpowering. I appreciate that this product is formulated without sulfates, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, etc.

as many of these ingredients are ones that I try to avoid for my curls. I also appreciate that this product comes in recyclable packaging. The price point of this product is higher than I usually pay for similar products but because a little goes a long way and my results were good, I would consider spending this amount on it.

I will continue to use and would recommend to others.

I received this as a sample to try out, and let me say, as a natural curly haired girl I am always looking for a new holy grail curl product. I have tried some of the other Moroccanoil products in the past but this is my personal favorite I’ve tried so far.

My first time testing this product, I applied it by itself after my usual wash and go. After letting my hair air dry, I noticed my curls had great definition and I was immediately excited. I went about my usual schedule and was pleased to see my curls still stayed together throughout the course of my day.

It also made my hair superrr soft which is always a nice addition. Although this product is great for defining your curls, I had to give it 4 stars as I found it was lacking in the hold department and it did not do much to combat additional frizz.

I love when leave-in products put a slight cast over your curls, as I find that helps tremendously for day 2 and day 3 curls. If you prefer a little more hold like me, I would strongly recommend following this up with a styling gel-type of product.

I have gotten so many compliments on days I work this product into my routine. While this curl defining cream is not quite a holy grail leave-in that will replace all of your other products, it is a wonderful addition to your curly hair routine.

I kind of hate how much I ended up liking this product. I’ve been devoutly curly girl method for a few years now, and I actually can’t remember the last time I used heat on my hair. I’m pretty proud of myself, actually.

Even stopped dying my hair! So, in the interest of living that low bar lifestyle, I also don’t want or need to wash my hair often, and my styling routine is kept to a minimum. Nothing complicated, no plopping, no clipping roots.

Just a good gel and a good scrunch and a microfiber towel. Bam, done. So, enter this Moroccan Oil Curl Defining Cream. After I washed and conditioned, then upside-down detangled with a wide-toothed comb and denman brush, I first scrunched in a generous amount of cream.

I honestly probably used too much—I think a smaller amount goes kind of a long way. Which is good, because the price tag isn’t exactly low. After a good scrunching, I sealed it in with Deva Curl gel.

A lot of reviewers used the cream on its own, and I considered doing that, but I figured I would have the best results using both. And I believe I was correct. After scrunching out the excess water and product with my microfiber waffle towel, I could already tell that my hair was looking nicer than usual.

My curls clumped juuust a little bit nicer, the waves just slightly more defined, less frizzy, and somehow more body, even though I air dried. It was a noticeably better-than-usual hair day. And I kinda hate it for a few reasons: (1) it’s not cheap; (2) I’m not jumping at adding an additional step to my low bar routine; (3) I don’t think this is actually a CGM-approved product; and (4) my sample sent for testing was just that—a sample—and I would have loved to have received a full size because I liked it so much! 😭😭💸.

I have type 3a hair and this is one of the few hair products I’ve repurchased repeatedly. I transitioned to my naturally curly hair over a year ago, and after trying lots of gels and heavier hair products, I decided to switch to a mousse.

How I use it: After washing and conditioning my hair, and applying a lightweight leave-in conditioner or cream, I use this mousse. It gives great definition and is lightweight enough so my hair doesn’t look like a puffy blob! I refresh by spraying my hair with water and scrunching in the mousse where needed.

As another reviewer noted, I only apply this product when my hair is wet.

I love this foam! My absolute favorite foam, and I have tried loads of them in the 3 years since I started wearing my natural texture. It is not very moisturizing so I use a curl cream or leave-in under it.

It does not weigh down my fine waves/curls at all (as long as I don’t use too much of it)! It lets my hair dry super fast when I use it without a gel so it is my go-to when I want great a looking wash-day in a hurry.

The hold is good enough for a day or two but if I want to go longer without a refresh I use a small amount of gel and then top it with this foam. This is one of the few products I have purchased repeatedly since transitioning!.

After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase this. I’m so glad I did. I had previously been using Pattern’s styling cream but the SMELL!! I couldn’t get past it. It worked great but the smell was just too strong.

Smelled like a bouquet of flowers which I do not enjoy in my hair. This stuff on the other hand smells AMAZING! Has a fresh out of the shower fragrance that’s not too empowering. I have thick hair with natural waves.

I used this stuff right out of the shower and my hair dried to natural looking beach waves! I would not recommend using this anywhere near your scalp because you will look greasy. It’s very light and makes my hair feel super soft! I will forever use this as long as Living Proof continues to make it.

The mini size is actually a decent size and a little bit goes a long way! If you’re hesitant on buying this stuff, go for it!!!.

I love Living Proof products. Most don’t fail to nourish and hydrate my hair. But I was skeptical about using the curl enhancer since I have loose wavy hair. On top of that, I’m not really a hair product person, in general.

Like if I’m styling my hair, I’ll use a heat protectant and do a mask or treatment on occasion, but I don’t typically use a product post-shower on the reg. This was a game changer. My hair had waves I typically can only achieve after styling with a heat tool.

And it looked super healthy and conditioned. The luster and luminescence are reminiscent of the efficacy of Kerastase products, which I j’dore. The fragrance is beautiful, similar to other Living Proof scents – light, clean, fresh.

I’m considering adding this to my daily routine; the only caveats are the price and my having to expand my beauty regimen.

This product does wonders for my wavy hair! I’ve been using this for the last few months and I’ve noticed a huge difference in my hair compared to other products. It turns my waves into tighter curls without making my hair crusty, heavy, or greasy.

It’s super lightweight and you don’t have to use too much of it to get the effect that you’re looking for. I usually apply this to my wet hair and scrunch it in, then I apply a mousse over the top. It makes my hair so much softer and less frizzy especially in the winter months.

A bonus is how great it smells! It’s a really subtle but pleasant fresh fragrance. I will definitely keep purchasing this!.

I didn’t get a chance to finish my review. I’ve been using this. I like it a lot. My partner keeps saying how much he likes my curls. My hair is thick, and depending on the weather, fairly long. It takes several hours to dry, so I do have to plan it out.

It also takes quite a bit of the cream, while the shampoo is very economical (I dilute it, so it can get through my thick hair. This also results in using less) I have gone through many bottles (<5) of the cream, whereas I’m still in the first bottle (large) of shampoo, and the second of the rinse.

But this is the best yet!.

I used Butter Cream for first time several days ago & received so many compliments on my natural curly gray hair after using this product! It made my wiry frizzy gray hair smooth, soft, bouncy, and it enhanced my natural curls.

I love it!! I just combed through after it air drys and magic happens! But, now I can’t seem to find it to purchase more! All I see in the stores says “Sleek and Shiny” and I don’t see the Butter Cream.

Help!! I will keep searching & hoping I can find more.

How I use it: Right after deep conditioning, whilst my hair is still soaking wet, I apply a small amount to my hair, that has been sectioned into rough quarters. I then squeeze out excess water and add a generous amount of the product to each section, finger detangling and shingling my curls to thoroughly coat my hair.

I then add an oil and/or a gel styler, to reduce frizz and prolonged curl hold. Pros: The product comes in an easy to use squeeze bottle. I really liked that the top was like a pull out sports bottle top, making it quick an easy to use.

It smells lovely, a light and fruity scent, not overpowering in the way some curly hair products are. It nicely coats your curls without feeling waxy and you can reapply in the week, if needed (you will need it), without feeling like there’s a build up of product on your hair.

It does define curls and will add a refreshed look to them after a couple of days. Cons: If hair has too many tangles or is very dry prior to use, it doesn’t provide enough moisture and slip to overcome it.

It promotes defined, frizz resistant curls… this is not the case with regard to frizz. Nor does it provide that much shine to my hair once my hair has dried fully. The only way I am able to get it to truly tackle the frizz is by using copious amounts, if using this product alone.

Inevitably a bottle of this size won’t last long in my home because of this. Otherwise, coupling with a gel styling product is the way to go, and the lasting results are much better. It doesn’t quite provide 3 days moisture, that said I didn’t use it with the shampoo and conditioner as recommended for the moisture to be maintained for that long.

This product may be too light for curlier hair types and too heavy for those who are less curly. Overall I think it is a nice leave-in conditioner to be used in combination with a styler, providing a good level of moisture, that’s much needed, for curly hair.
