20 Best Lapdesk For 17 Inch Laptop (2023 Updated)

Although I have a desk, the chair is not that comfy so I’ve opted to use the couch as my workstation. The laptop directly on my legs does not provide the proper sight line (have to look down) and the battery gets warm but I manage.

I decided I needed a lap desk and picked this one. Shipping was quick. Tried it out and the desk is perfect on my lap! It has a nice thick cushion that balances well on the legs. The height has resolved my sight line issue so my screen is now eye level.

Even when I cross my legs the desk stays put. I have a standard 15″ laptop and desk size is perfect. Desk surface has a raised wood-like grain so the rubber feet on my laptop keep my computer in place.

One of the best quarantine buys of 2020!.

Clean appearance and comfortable to use in the lap. The flip out cushion works well to prop it up a bit higher and is still comfortable. The bumper on the bottom works well to hold a laptop on it without being obtrusive.

The elastic band on the left hand side works well to hold a power cable in place.

This was purchased as a Christmas gift. My daughter uses it every day. It’s comfortable, sturdy, and looks great! Packaged arrived on schedule, was in good condition and required no assembly. Definitely a good purchased for those that telework and need a break from the desk, table or counter.

Happy with this purchase. I give 4 stars because it’s only been over month in use.

Love this lapdesk, though it does have some issues. I purchased the grey version and this is what I found: Pros: -Lightweight -Good size for a large gaming laptop -Love the pen holder -The adjustable angles are great for when I’m using my drawing tablet Cons: -The padding in the bottom deflated very, very quickly, leaving it difficult to use.

It no longer rests comfortably on my lap, and every time I have to adjust my position or get up and reposition the desk on my lap I have to push all the stuffing back to the middle so it won’t fall over.

-The phone holder is not very sturdy, and I’ve dropped my phone off of it a couple of times -Could be a little wider for better weight distribution (might help with the padding issue) -Could use a ledge to keep the mouse from sliding right off the pad when you move it -The latch to keep the top flat wore out extremely quickly, and now just falls open when I’m carrying it.

I considered buying the black version as the padding on the bottom seemed sturdier, but being a shorter person and having a shorter lap, I’ve found that desks like that fall off my lap. Wish they would use something a little sturdier for the padding, like solid foam rather than whatever these little plastic balls are.

I purchased this for my granddaughter for Christmas. She uses it for her laptop. It’s lightweight and so versatile. It can be used for laptops or tablets. Fully adjustable for any viewing angle and it has built-in mouse pad as well as a slot for holding the smartphone and a place to set your stylus or ink pen.

The underside has a padded cushion to make things comfortable. It’s made very well and it also has a carrying handle for easy transport.

This lap desk is excellent. It is very helpful that it is wide enough to have a pad where a mouse can be used. I like the flip up tab that keeps a laptop or pad from sliding off the bottom. I also like the slot in the upper righthand corner where a smart phone can be kept.

Amazingly comfortable and functional. It has a pull-out for the mouse pad and phone on both sides (for lefty and righties). I found that using the mouse pad for long periods might put a little strain on you arm/wrist so a remedy is to rest a pillow just below your elbow, which mimics the functionality of having a full desk for your arm’s comfort.

This is especially good for prolong use. Another great feature is the cushioned bottom. There is no bothersome pressure on your thighs; only comfort. Also, the size is true, meaning it can actually fit a 17″ computer.

The pull-out mouse pad does not take away space, but adds it. It also has a slot on top to hold other tech, such as tablets. This was a terrific purchase, so much so, I bought three.

I have a large and heavy Lenovo laptop that I use when I’m sitting in my recliner watching TV. (The older I get, the heavier it seems. ) I bought this lap desk because it is made from “furniture quality” memory foam.

It’s perfect. I’ve used it for a month and the quality is as advertised. So far, the foam shows no signs of being used.

I bought this for my new 15” laptop. I have been looking at other lap desk with similar features and this was the best price by far. My 15 inch lap top fits well on the desk and does not slide off with the handy wrist pad.

I did not think I needed this but found that I make fewer mistakes in my typing with my wrist resting on the pad. The memory foam sits well on my lap and stays cool. The handy slide out mouse pad works well with my wireless mouse and works for both left and right handed people.

I love that my I-phone sit well in the slot provided so i can keep track of text messages as they come in. The USB light works well and tucks into a handy pocket at the top of the lap desk. There is a handle that allows me to carry it wherever I need it.

I am very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it to others.

Really useful if you use a mouse with your laptop as I do, and use it on your knee rather than a desk. Feels quite sturdy and great for left or right hand. Big enough to fit full size laptop, but not bulky.

Pros: solid, high quality Cons: heavy and too small for comfortable work with any two in one laptop. Perhaps with a laptop of 12 inches or less will feel fine. Fine product though, kudos on the quality.

I purchased this item for use with my Dell XPS 17 & I’m very happy with it. Although the description states that it’s for 15. 6″ laptops & smaller, I had no issues using it with my laptop which stretches to 17″.

The quality is ok although I wish the kick stand that holds up the laptop was a little bit beefier & the notches that the kickstand rest in could be a little more pronounced. Other than that, it does what it’s attended for.

Got one for myself to start out with. Then the wife wanted one. That should be all that you need to know about this product. Hahah – yeah this thing is very flexible in the options for the intended usage.

Overall, really like this lap desk. I have it sitting on my desk to have my laptop positioned at a better angle. One minor drawback, the little lip at the bottom of the tray that holds your laptop is not very tall so if you have a laptop with a curved edge, it may slip off this lip pretty easily.

This is a great, basic laptop lap desk. It’s very lightweight and the cushions allow for air flow so it doesn’t get hot on my lap. The dimensions are pretty small. You could only fit the laptop and nothing else (like a mouse or notepad).

But that’s exactly what I was looking for. something to rest my laptop on my lap without getting my thighs hot. 4 stars only because the surface easily scratches. It started scratching from Day 1. However, I don’t care about this as nobody sees it and it functions well.

I had previously ordered a lap desk that ended up being way to wide, I should have checked the measurements first. I returned it and bought this one. This is the perfect little lap desk and fits perfectly across my lap on the recliner I use, it fits right between the arms.

This is a great option when using a laptop without a desk, or without a desk low enough for your laptop. It’s reasonably light, comes in a variety of colors, and has several useful features: a cloth carry handle, an elastic corner strap to hold shallow materials (such as a note pad), and a groove large enough for a smartphone.

There’s also a ledge on the bottom to keep your laptop from slipping off, but the surface doesn’t feel slippery so the ledge might not even be needed. The cushion is quite comfortable. It can get a bit warm, but will still be much cooler than if you had your laptop on your legs! I’ve been using mine as a keyboard/mouse surface (with my laptop on a desk stand in front of me) and it works well for this purpose — no need for a mouse pad.

If you’re planning to do this get the XL size to make sure there’s room for your mouse. Otherwise, check your lap width when you’re sitting; mine is about 17 inches across and the XL size is just right.

If your lap is narrower the regular lap desk would be an option.

I think this is a great laptop desk. The fabric pillow gets a bit warm if you use this when it’s very warm. The surface is a bit slippery (I use an attached mini-mouse), but the laptop does not slide.

Well made and it has a handle. Very well made. it will be perfect when I want to work from my living room especially this fall and winter. Glad I bought it!.

I bought this lap desk so I can sit comfortably with my notebook securely on my lap. Big enough to fit any size laptop. Soft underside holds snuggly to your legs. The hard top surface allows for great airflow keeping your machine as cool as possible.

Heat buildup is the battery’s biggest enemy.

I purchased this for a road trip from Ohio to Florida and back so I could work while my husband drove. I have a 15″ laptop and there was plenty of room to the right side to use my remote mouse. I ended up also using this in the vacation rental home.

The light has small LED bulbs and can either be plugged into your computer or into the port built into the desk to run off of batteries. The light was great in the early morning when I needed to work but didn’t want to turn on a lot of lights in the room.

It was also great at night in the van. There is a small storage space built into the cushion portion of the back of the desk that is convenient. I liked that the wrist rest extends almost the full length of the desk as that kept the mouse from sliding off the desk when not in use.

I had seen complaints about that issue with other lapdesks. I would definitely recommend this product based on my first week of use!.

I purchased this product about 1 year ago because I was sick of using a pillow on my lap or putting the laptop on my legs. This lap desk solved my problem. In fact, I am using it now as I write this review.

The foam on the bottom and the wrist pad is very comfortable and breathable. The angle is just right. The light is actually very bright and works well to illuminate the keys when I’m typing in the dark.

There is a pocket for both the battery holder (to power the light) and the light. This makes it a very compact, all-in-one desk. The only little gripe I might have is that the desk surface is a cheap laminate over, most likely, a cheap particle board.

But I don’t care. It is plenty sturdy for its function and will probably clean up well in case of a spill. This was well worth the money I paid.

A very comfortable and convenient lap desk. I bought one for my son and I because we often find ourselves studying or working on the laptop sitting in our beds at night. This desk makes it easier to do and is comfortable.

I also got two more for my mom, who is recovering from back surgery and often in bed, and my sister who’s studying for her BA degree as a full-time working single mom. She’s often studying from her bed late.

This desk will help make it a little more comfortable. The underside feels like a soft beanbag type of cushioning.

Got this for my hubby on Father’s Day, he has an office but works on the couch from time to time. This made it convenient and less strain on his back. Highly recommend to buy online because when I went to buy in store, it was $3 more and sams club does not price match their online prices.

I have used this every day for just shy of a year now. I got it in the carbon fiber finish. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I started working from home; shortly thereafter, I suffered a spine injury that left me unable to sit in a chair for months.

I had to work on my laptop while laying on my couch with my knees propped up, or leaning back in a LaFuma Futura XL zero-gravity reclining chair. This lap desk fits exactly perfectly on my lap between the arm rests of the chair.

I do have the back end of my laptop propped up at approx an 18º angle to help with ergonomics the way I have been using it (to better type and to see the screen. ) When it first arrived, my first thought was that it was way overpriced and not worth the high cost, but it has been well worth it for me.

This thing has been used on my lap every single day for nearly a year. The corners that are wrapped in the printed finish do gouge easily if you hit them on things like hard chair arms but overall it has held up quite well.

It does make my lap warm if the laptop sits directly on the surface instead of on the small support that I use to prop it up on. The cushions on the bottom are apparently only filled with styrofoam beads and they do compress a ton over time; mine are almost flat now which is problematic, so I am going to see if I can refill them somehow, (maybe rip open a seam, pour new beads in, and sew it up.

) I am thinking about buying a second one now that I have to go back into the office, to go with my second zero gravity chair, but the price is holding me back.

Okay, so if you know lapdesks, this is definitely on the pricer side, but it is a decent size, and it does have a mousepad side that is decently padded. The mousepad is on the small-ish side, so don’t expect to play FPS games decently on it (or most games that require a mouse for that matter).

The laptop/tablet ide is pretty good sized, and I was able to fit anything from an ASUS ROG Flow Z13 to an ASUS ROG Strix G17 with no problems. The phone slot is convenient, though you might want to flip your phone upside down orientation to enable better charging.

The slot did not adequately fit an L-Shaped USB-C adapted charging cord, so I imagine a standard USB-C would not work neither when letting said phone rest. All and all? Not bad, if you’re sitting in your LA-Z-Boy or Chaise.

I’m literally using this right now. The materials are decent, except for the palm rest, the lap desk is easy to clean with sanitation wipes. I have been using this every day and only have a tiny nick on the vinyl from my own mishandling.

Aside from that it still looks new! Very comfortable on my lap, too. The underside has those Styrofoam filled ‘pillows’, the palm rest is a unremovable cloth covered foam. The lap desk itself is I believe plastic covered in carbon fiber vinyl, same used for laptop skins.

Its pretty durable overall.

the size + shape of this lapdesk is great. the height is perfect. the one main problem i have with it is the fabric used is polyester and is extremely hot – it would be much nicer with a cotton canvas or twill.

also would be great to be able to detach the pillow so that it can be washed. i’ve only used it for working on my laptop + tablet – not for meals or drinks.

Excellent workmanship. The padded underside fits easily between the arms of my narrow recliner. I like that it has a carry handle. The mjcrobeads in the padded underside make the lap desk very comfortable and stable.

I bought this Lap Desk for my Aunt to use as a writing desk. It has an indent for pens so they won’t roll off, a handy built-in handle for carrying, and an attractive, smooth finish in a faux woodgrain finish.

My Aunt likes the aqua blue and white print fabric, and finds it very comfortable to use for her journaling or holding a slice of pie and cup of afternoon coffee. It is a roomy size and I am sure it is great to use for its original purpose as a Laptop Lap Desk!.

I bought this item a few weeks ago for my tablet. For someone who is taking online classes I need a flat surface to work on. The LapDesk has a perfect flat surface and the cushion underneath is made very soft and comfortable.

The LapDesk also has an elastic strap that I use to hold my USB cord. The order at the end is perfect because my laptop will stay in place. I would definitely recommend this product.

Bought this a few weeks ago. It looks nice, is very comfortable on my lap, the phone holder is nifty, and the tab on the surface keeps my laptop from sliding around too much. However, it arrived slightly damaged.

Ordinarily, whatever, things happen in shipping, but the scrape along the top of the desk revealed that the ‘bamboo’ surface is just a sticker placed over layers of laminated cardboard. For the price I paid, this was pretty disappointing.

I bought the Black Memory Foam Lap Desk for the days when I do not want to work on my dual monitors and would prefer to sit the laptop. well on my lap. Although it has memory foam, the Lap Desk is extremely uncomfortable.

I had to keep shifting it to get through my day. Pros: Built-in Light; Cons: Uncomfortable & there is not enough room to use a mouse. Will be contacting Zulily to request a return.

Very lightweight. Can pull out mouse tray on either left or right side. There is a fabric carrying handle on it which is helpful when moving to a different room. My lap (or laptop) doesn’t get warm at all compared to my older laptop desk.

I have been using this product for two weeks now. It is great on my lap, helping me to get my camera to a better angle for Zoom meetings while leaving my screen/monitor at a good viewing angle. It is comfortable.

It turns my easy chair into good work space. All this is as intended. In addition, I have been using the product beyond its designed purpose. It is useful on my desk in my home office. It raises the screen/monitor to a better ergometric position that helps me to avoid neck and shoulder discomfort.

I sometimes use the built-in keyboard on my notebook computer, though I wish that the LapGear Lap Desk were a bit more stable for keyboarding. For longer keyboard projects, though, I use an external keyboard.

Very happy with the many features! It can be a lap desk or used on a desk! The lap cushioned underside helps it stay put when used on a desk. The cushion Is thin enough so the Lap Table isn’t wobbly on a desk! It has 2 side buttons for opening & closing the unit.

Inside are two panels that drop down to create the desired angle that you want. They click into place when not in use. I used to own a bulky USB powered laptop stand thingy with a fixed angle to it! This lap table is so much better than those things! I have a Chromebook now that doesn’t need a fan beneath it.

The Lap Desk is light weight & portable!.

I had a laptop at work where it sits low on my desk for all of the Zoom meetings I’ve had. I thought if I bought a stand, it would raise it up higher to be at a better angle for video conferencing. An added bonus would be propping it up higher to be in alignment with my external monitor to turn it into a dual monitor setup.

The product felt a bit flimsy after roving it from the packaging but setting my laptop into it has been great, performing both functions well and not feeling unstable. Great buy!.

I found the concept of this to be much better than the actual functionality of the item. The laptop and tablet fit and held very nicely on the tray but the angle of the pop up piece did not work for me.

Also while it was nice to have the option to raise and lower the legs, at the higher setting the item became unstable. Actually the whole piece did not work for me while lying in bed. I feel like it would work better if one was sitting up in a chair or bed.

Sorry I’m just not very impressed with this one.

I spent a couple hours trying to pick the best one of these folding-leg stands before selecting this one. Now I have it so I want to help other buyers make an informed decision. My need was for a stand to hold my keyboard and trackpad while standing in front of a screen raised up on a pneumatic arm.

My five-star rating is for my use and I note where people with other needs might have a different experience. * The platform is metal, sturdy, attractive. I prefer the holes to the fans that some other trays have because I don’t have a laptop on it.

The platform can be used with either side ‘up’ and the depth of the lip is a little different on each side which is good for different kinds of uses. (I use the side which most people would probably call the ‘bottom’, according to the illustrations on the web page.

)* The legs are the exact same plastic legs found on many other models from other brands. Each joint swivels all the way around and locks tightly in place. I can imagine them being a bit annoying for people who want to change the angles frequently but my use does not require me to do that; I just set it and forget it, so I didn’t mark the rating down for that.

* I can imagine a person who puts a laptop on this might be annoyed by the screen jiggling during typing, although my guess is that this model is no more or less jiggly than any other. In any case the jiggling is not a problem in my setup so I did not mark down the rating for this.

* I specifically chose this model because its legs are longer than other models. I am tall (6’5\) so I needed a tray which would reach up to my hands when I stood in front of my desk. I am pleasantly surprised to say that this one is more than tall enough.

Was very hopeful about this product now that I am working from home. SO DISAPPOINTED!!! Within the first 2 minutes of using it I had at least 4 splinters of wood in my fingers just from holding the sides.

It got even worse when I tried adjusting the legs and reaching underneath. The splinters of cheaply finished wood are so bountiful that one of them even snagged and ruined a pair of my pants when the lap desk rubbed against them.

The finish is cheaply lacquered – maybe just MAYBE they almost tried to spray an very-fine mist of something that almost resembled a smooth finish on it. The “drawer” on the side might hold a pen or paperclips but certainly nothing much larger and definitely not your wireless mouse for storage.

If you have a laptop over 14″, then you won’t likely have any “room” on the side where the “cup holder” is. Their quality control team should be ashamed of themselves for letting a product this bad get out to a consumer! I would most definitely have returned it if I hadn’t already recycled the packaging (required for returns.

Total waste of money.

This is a nice, sturdy little lap desk and very pretty. The fabric on the wrist rest, though, is very rough and is making the insides of my wrists feel a bit sunburned from the friction. One day, too, I hope someone who makes lap desks takes into account that not everyone has long legs.

For as big as this little lap desk is it’s been a god send. I work from home and I game while sitting a large bean bag, it allows me to sit how I want without having to be confined to a desk and hurting all day trying to get comfortable.

Its super lightweight, the pads on the top for my wrists are in the right spot and soft enough to not cause discomfort, and the pads on the bottom give just enough leverage to not let my keyboard/mouse slide.

Overall its been a wonderful investment!.

I’m very satisfied with this laptop desk. it’s exactly what I needed when I use my laptop on the couch. The right size: not too small and not too large. I like that there is space for a mouse. I don’t like using a touchpad.

I also like the wooden surface. My verdict is 5 out of 5.

This lapdesk is a wonderful product. It’s well made. It’s attractive. I love the built-in handle and the curved edge that goes against your body. The cushion is removable by velcro, presumably so it might be washed.

It’s a large, smooth surface, making it great for computers with a mouse pad and mouse next to it or a standard sized open coloring book. I have used plastic lapdesks costing nearly the same amount, and they were not as nice or sturdy.

I wanted this one for camping, so I’d have a surface to write, draw, color or whatever I needed a table top for. Compared to my more deluxe lap desk for home use, I’d say this model runs a very close second.

It lacks a pouch or holder for pens or other things you’d like to store, nor does it have a built in ledge to stop things from sliding all the way down, but I actually haven’t found it to be much of a problem.

If you’re looking for a high quality lapdesk for a really great price, I really recommend this one.

I purchased the Dark Cherry Lapdesk. Not seen in the picture is a hideous light color pad under the dark cherry. It would be ok for the light cherry lapdesk but it’s an eyesore for the dark cherry. I had to pay for shipping to buy the item AND had to pay for shipping to return the item, which wasn’t cheap.

Total loss leader on my end. I’m done with Levenger. I’ve loved you for years, but your quality is getting so unpredictable and your customer service in the event of a return is too expensive to deal with.

So disappointed in this item and having to pay for shipping to get it and return it. In the end, I’m losing at least $40 for an item that had a hidden pad attached to the bottom of it not visible in the catalog images and that doesn’t match or even go with the color of the item.

A solid, sturdy lap desk that can hold a bit of stuff. I’m always misplacing things like my good pen and my check books, but now I have one place to stash them. When I’m working from my favorite chair, the lap desk works better for me than any other tray or table I’ve tried.

It’s a really good size to use while sitting in my “Stressless” armchair. Glad I bought it, even though I missed the sale price. ;).

This lap desk is beautiful and very well built. Good sized compartment inside with room for a small netbook or tablet. Only drawback is there isn’t a notch so a charging cable can go inside while the lid is closed.
