20 Best Exterior Paint For Sun Exposure (2023 Updated)

This product is overpriced at $30/qt. It can be purchased elsewhere for $18. 00. I was trying to buy a gallon rather than a quart. After searching for prices which were about $35/gal. elsewhere, I found this.

I assumed it was a gallon and did not read carefully enough. So, it was my fault for not being thorough.

When I saw the price for this paint, I thought the price was too good to be true. In spite of looking I didn’t spot the reason for the low price. As soon as I received the product, it was obvious. This is a quart, not a gallon.

Of course, if you look closely enough it does say quart way down in the information. Stupid me for not digging deeper. However, that information needs to be in the product title, “Quart of Zinsser 03104 Perma-White.

Best mildew resistant paint, that i have found. Paint it white and it stays white. No green or black stuff growing on it. I live 30 minutes north of New Orleans, where the humidity stays high and it is hard to keep outdoor areas from growing green algae, but this stuff works.

Goes on and cleans up like any other latex paint.

We painted one of our rooms with the country white. It looks ok but now every time it his humid or we open the windows on a nice day, it has a horrible smell like a cat pee smell. And we don’t even have a cat.

I contacted the company and the only thing they said is to paint over it with bin and then re paint over that. Would not even refund or pay for the bin and new paint. Read other reviews saying they had the same problem with the smell.

Would not recommend and will not buy again. A frustrating experience overall.

We got the Country White color of this paint. It says only 1 coat will be needed. My husband is a professional painter, and we bought this paint to try it out and save money over buying the high end paint we normally get.

Supposedly primer isn’t needed in addition to this paint. My husband primed over the existing painted walls with white primer before attempting to paint them with this paint. Even with the primer and then 2 coats of this paint, we could still see the original light blue paint underneath.

We will have to use a second gallon of this paint to adequately cover the walls, which means we will spend a couple dollars MORE than the 1 gallon of high-end paint we would have normally used, and we will have put forth a greater amount of effort and work to get the job done with 3-4 coats instead of 1-2.

I normally do not do reviews on line but, this sparked me to give one. I do not know what Glidden is doing to their paint. I have never had a problem until I used this particular paint. This has got to be the worst paint I have purchased from Glidden , EVER !! I have read other reviews on other web sites with the same problem.

I figured must have been bad preparation or have never painted before. Well , I was wrong I purchased the High endurance with primer custom color. Does not hide on first coat. Do not re- roll once you put it on.

The walls were light pale blue eggshell , and spot pre primed after repairs made, and it will sporadically pull off of the existing paint and primer re-rolling over it. You can not even roll in different directions spreading out the paint and roller lines without it pulling off after it sits about a minute while rolling out the wall.

I know what Glidden will say bad preparation, bad roller cover , or something on the wall to cause the pulling. Well Glidden PVA drywall primer latex was used as a primer over drywall repairs , walls sanded scratch coat to remove dust and dirt previously painted over , washed down with warm soapy water , dried 24 hrs and painted.

Used a Wooster 3/8 nap roller cover. I have spent the last 40 years as a home improvement contractor painting with many products. From the very expensive to the bottom line paints. I was stuck because I ran out of Behr , so I purchased this paint.

Behr was definitely a one coat no pulling off the wall paint no matter how may times you rolled over it. My camera is broken on my phone or I would have given pictures. Sorry ! I am very dissatisfied with Glidden now.

Almost $ 60. 00 dollars wasted on 2 Gallons of paint and a trip to Home Depot now an hour away.

Bought a month ago. I have always liked Behr and loved the idea of a Paint plus Primer. However, this has not been a good one for us. We bought the 18. 9L for the main floor of our 2000 square foot home.

We don’t even have that much wall space. However, we’ve had to put up to 3 coats to adequately cover an off white painted walls. We’ve tried different roller covers to varying degrees of success. Once we got full cover, it’s a nice bright white.

We’ve had so many colours over the 20 years and it’s funny that we’ve come full circle back to plain white and I love it.

I recommend that you go with the best quality paint for your house. This paint is easy to use. It does not need a lot of Coats to cover your walls. I like my paint semi glossy so I can clean it if it gets dirty.

There is different finishes for different parts of the house. I always recommend behr paint because it’s very durable and high quality paint. I have had so much fun remodeling my home choosing colors and styles.

I am not done yet I still have my son’s room too do and my RR! I am beyond excited to choose a look and style for his room.

I recently decided to redo an old vanity that was broken down and basically taking up space in my shed. (Pic on the right) well let me just tell ya folks I think I went a little over board🤔!!! After measuring and cutting the pieces that were missing I bought some behr premium paint and asked the store to make it a very specific shade of pink (pic on the left) After just one coat of the Behr paint I had complete coverage.

But I didn’t stop there folks oh no I also bought a couple bottle of Glitterific acrylic [brand:glitter] paint and started painting [brand:glitter] on the top and sides of the vanity. Unfortunately I was not getting the amount of [brand:glitter] coverage that I was hoping for.

Soooo I decided to buy some loose [brand:glitter] and some mod Podge. Oh boy!!!!! It sure sparkles. You can’t tell from the picture but this thing blings like I stole it from the Smithsonian. My daughters absolutely adore it.

I definitely recommend the behr premium paint for the awesome coverage. I also recommend mod Podge and loose [brand:glitter] if your trying to make something sparke a little [brand:glitter].

I have always purchased Behr as I had good luck with it. Behr was my go-to paint. The last 2 cans have been garbage. I get as much paint on me as I do on what I am painting; the coverage is substandard and it takes forever to dry.

I am preparing my house for sale so I have many things to paint. I asked my realtor what to do and she told me to get Benjamin Moore paint. Not having the best results in the past I was hesitant, but I tried.

There is no comparison. Comparing Behr to Benjamin Moore is like comparing a Fiat 500 to a Ferrari. Guess what paint I will be used to pain the last 4 rooms of my house. I will give you 3 guesses and your first two do not count.

I bought this on a Saturday afternoon, color 2003-30 (BM). I know it was mixed because the girl opened the paint and put a drop on the lid. The color was perfect. I opened the can the next morning and the purple tint additive was on the top of the paint.

This required 5 minutes of mixing to get the right color again. I opened he can 2 days later, same problem. Aside from that, the paint goes on well but I always use primer on new wood or concrete. The last paint I bought in this color was 6 years ago from someone else and it lasted without much mixing until last month.

Excellent paint, great coverage. Only thing I’d warn people about is this is a tad hard to wash off with soap and water. Wear light weight plastic gloves. Can’t speak to durability yet, see how it looks next year.

I bought recommended paint at Lowe’s to simply paint a from door. The paint wouldn’t cover the primer after 3 coats! Another coat of primer and 2 coats of Benjamin Moore exterior paint and the job was done.

The Benjamin Moore paint was more then Valspar paint but the extra money would have saved me a lot of time. I typically buy Benjamin Moore and now I know why!.

This paint goes on very smoothly and dries to a real nice satin sheen. I use this on my trims instead of Sherman Williams because I think it just looks nicer when done.

I used to use another brand of paint until about about 22 years ago when I switched to Benjamin Moore on the advice of a professional painter. After all these years, I would never change from Benjamin Moore Paints, especially on the outside of my house.

It goes on smooth, dries well and looks fantastic! It’s durability in all types of weather never ceases to amaze me!.

Using this paint to repaint our deck railings. Going great so far. I’ve somewhat sanded the flat areas, not stripped. Looking good so far. I have not sanding the smaller railings and the paint seems to be covering just fine.

It’s easy to paint with. I will need to to a second coat in a few places but that’s it. I’ll be using Ben paint again.

Have always used Benjamin Moore interior paints, so took a chance on the exterior low luster. As always, great paint. It even went on white primer in one coat beautifully, which I wasn’t expecting with a dark teal color.

Nice smooth finish.

This paint is see-through! It’s so expensive and in the past I have always loved Benjamin Moore paint but why is this paint see-through? How many coats of it am I going to have to put on before I can’t see the paint that is underneath it? Some of the pain underneath it is white and some of the paint underneath it is light green and in both cases I can see through this paint after two coats!.

We are extremely disappointed in the quality of this paint. We were fans of Clark+Kensington paints up until this purchase. We had painted 6 rooms in our home with this paint in the last 10 years, with most of the rooms only requiring 1 coat to provide excellent coverage.

We are CERTAIN the formulation of this paint has changed. We purchased 2 cans recently to cover approx. 600 sq ft of space. One can is supposed to cover approx. 400-450 sq ft, so we had hoped we would have some leftover to do spot coverage if needed in the future.

The paint does not spread well at all, whether you are using a roller or a brush. We had purchased high quality trim brushes, and ended up having to purchase different rollers because the paint was coming off the wall as we were rolling it on! We have found that it has taken not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR COATS to cover a neutral beige that was on the wall, with a neutral off-white.

In other words, we are not trying to cover a dark color! This is ridiculous, expensive and very time-consuming! Please look elsewhere for a paint that is higher quality, because this is no longer that kind of product.

We have done numerous painting projects with many different brands of paint in the last 30 years, none have caused as much frustration or been as costly as this paint.

Over the last 30 year I have painted four homes top to bottom. I have used most ever brand of paint…Sherwin Williams, Behr, Valsphar, Pratt Lambert, Pittsburgh, etc. I brought Clark and Kensington recently because I was having trouble finding the right color.

Though the color was perfect, there is NOTHING I MEAN NOTHING flat about their “flat” paint. It has shine and has the appearance of an eggshell or satin. The paint was bought for a room that I wanted a flat appearance.

Over 45 years of painting home interiors, I have never had a reaction to painting before. Used this product (Clark+Kensington semi gloss) ended up with severe cold/flu like symptoms – severe throat and lung irritant – cough so bad had to go to Dr.

– issued prescriptions of prednisone, and Benzonatate, plus 1 other. Only painted 1 bathroom and 1 small laundry room – used 1 gallon and it had this effect. 🙁 3 weeks of feeling sick and still lingering).

i like the fact that you can spray this right out of the bucket and I like the fact that it is soap and water clean up. just went through several buckets of this paint for the first time so too soon to tell how long it lasts.

previously painted boards cover fine in one coat but newer unfinished boards seem to need two coats especially after 1st coat has had an hour or two to soak in. good product. easy to use and clean up.

I Built a new 4 rail horse fence and wanted a good paint to seal it with. Checked out the reviews for this paint and decided to try it out. We applied it with sprayer and brush. Is a great looking paint, but if i had to do it over again, i would just brush it on.

It didn’t clean up easy with soap and water, but that’s ok. I will recommend it to anyone inquiring about painting a fence.

Fence Pro was recommended by the painters who repainted our 10 acres of fencing/cross-fencing. The result was a fast-drying finish that filled the pores of the older sections of fence, with substantial body and a smooth appearance.

The painters liked the easy application and rapid clean-up.

I’ve worked as a professional painter in the past as well as painted multiple home projects recently. This paint is so bad that I bought a second gallon assuming the first must have been defective. Maybe both were.

Applied in temperatures from 58f-90f. Like an oil based paint, in application it’s prone running 5-30 minutes after the project is done being painted, and similarly any attempt to fix these just makes a bigger mess.

Unlike oil based you can’t sand it down. The paint skins over after ~20-30 seconds, on larger objects such as doors it’s impossible to avoid horrific lap marks. Multiple coats eventually cover this as far as color, yet the paint doesn’t self level so the brush strokes are obvious and ugly.

Speaking of doors, the dry time to use in two weeks, so plan accordingly if you mistakenly buy this paint. Repainting over a prior white paint which was cleaned with TSP (and rinsed of course), with primer or not (tried both out of curiosity), it took three coats to get complete coverage.

If there was a zero star rating this would get it. I’ve been happy enough with other paints purchased from Ace, which all have their pros and cons like any normal paint. The only pro I’d give this paint is after a month of dry time, it does wash well.

Amazing paint & primer in one! I was covering over a large red wall and thought it would be a nightmare to cover but I was pleasantly surprised. It actually covered well with just one coat, but I painted two coats and only used half of one gallon.

As each coat was drying, it looked streaky but dries beautifully and quickly. It was my first-time using Benjamin Moore paint and I would highly recommend the paint and primer in one. It saves a lot of time not having to put a separate primer on first.

Coatings marketed as paint and primer are misleading including the Ben Moore Regal line. This is a decent paint but not a $60 per gallon paint. I had several discussions with the product technical support group and they were quite helpful however by their own admission said to achieve satisfactory results a primer is recommended and generally two color coats required.

Didn’t come close to the 400 to 450 square foot coverage stated in the specs.
