20 Best Dry Shampoo For Natural Hair (2023 Updated)

So I bought the dry shampoo after I fell in love with the shampoo/conditioner bars! However, I wasn’t as blown away with the dry shampoo. I haven’t had as much of an issue with the mess as some of the other reviewers mentioned — I feel like if you tap it off in the jar, it should prevent spills.

I just don’t think it’s super effective. It looks good the day of use, but it doesn’t eliminate the oil/grease like I would like it to. Which means you have to apply a decent amount of it everyday to keep the oiliness at bay and I don’t like that.

Also, after application, if you scratch your head, the powder will come off under your fingernails. I feel like it’s similar to applying baby powder as dry shampoo (which I’ve done plenty of times and used to do before switching to aerosols), it covers up the oils but doesn’t actually do much else.

With that being said, I do like how my hair feels after application! Much softer and more natural compared to when I was using aerosol dry shampoo. I’ve also gotten more of a feel for the application, so it is growing on me slightly.

I will likely re-purchase as I do like the philosophy behind the brand.

This was my first time trying a powder dry shampoo and I really enjoyed my experience. The product gets the job done and leaves my hair feel more refreshed and appear less oily. Unlike the aerosol spray, this powder form doesn’t leave my hair feeling stiff and clumpy.

I was also afraid that it would make my scalp itchy, but I did not have any problems like that. In terms of the scent, I would describe it as a mixture of citrus and ginger. Overall, I’d recommend for others to give this product a try, it is a very different experience from the spray cans.

Though I do wish that a brush of some sorts was provided as they suggested to use an old makeup brush but I just used my fingers to apply the product.

I have pretty oily hair and was happy to see that Earthling Co has a eco-friendly alternative to aerosol dry shampoo! I use an old makeup brush to apply the powder to my roots which I prefer to the hard to use aerosol cans.

However, this product doesn’t keep the oiliness down as much as the aerosol dry shampoos I’ve tried before. My hair still has some breakthrough oiliness towards the end of the day after using the powder.

Maybe I’m not using enough? The powder has a pleasant smell but I’ve noticed in the powder there are some larger clumps of a white substance. I’m not sure what it is but it’s too large to apply with the makeup brush.

Overall I like this product but it is not as effective for me compared to aerosol dry shampoos.

I started with this version and have now switched to the one for darker hair as it blends better on my light-medium brown hair. Helps delicately thicken fine or fragile hair. I tried this after over a dozen “fails” using sprays, homemade, and other dry forms.

I did not expect this one to be any different, but it was! That this stuff works! My hair is in better condition after using it. All sprinkle on powders can be a bit messy, but they are worth it. I lean over sink, apply, then ruffle my hair to spread it, and it remains in my hair.

This tiny bit of effort is worth it to use a healthy product and not inhale toxic aerosols. My dog doesn’t run from the room when I use this, haha. It thickens, conditions and cleans. I’ve always had fine silky hair and now that I’m older it is even more fine.

This product gives my hair more bounce and body. It is a conditioner to me, but one that doesn’t weigh down my fine hair. The price is worth it, as it’s natural, effective, non-toxic, and last a long time.

Cost per use I think it’s about half of the aerosol sprays. I’m happy with it.

I love this dry shampoo and now that I’m used to applying, it really does its job where can get away with washing my hair every 5-7 days. I also love that it has natural ingredients and is not an aerosol.

I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 in hopes that the packaging can be improved. I had to stab it with a knife/hack with scissors to get the plastic off covering the hole in the top 🙂 I also had a bit of trial and error knowing the right amount to use and how exactly to apply it to my hair in the best way.

the instructions just say “shake it on your roots”. if you could make a video showing someone using it, that might help get others get the most out of it!.

I have fine strawberry blonde hair. I’ve tried about 20 dry shampoos and finally started using a natural baby powder. I decided to give this product a try and it works perfectly. It removes oil and makes my hair silky soft.

I can go days between washing – even after workouts – and my hair still looks and feels fresh. Hooray!!.

I have used aerosol dry shampoo for so long and it always smells so bad, pretty sure it’s bad for the environment, and it runs out quickly bc of the inconsistency of the spray- so THIS is now my #1 go to! I’m loving it! Smells great! Brushes out easily! And it helps that it’s not as bright white as store bought brands bc I’m a brunette.

My favorite dry shampoo! I’ve tried others that are either incredibly toxic or make my scalp itch after a couple days, but not this one – I’ve ordered this a few times now and will keep ordering!

I have had this Herbal cleanse for a long time. It does remove dirt and gives my scalp a clean fee. It has a good fragrance scent to it along with some tingly but that’s because of the basil. This dry shampoo is excellent to use on protective style hair.

I just restarted my locs so for 3 months I cannot fully emerge my head into water to shampoo it normally. This is my go to. It’s perfect! Cleanses my scalp and has a good tingling feeling.

This stuff is worth its weight in gold. If your scalp is itching, just direct the pointed nozzle to the spot, squeeze, and the itch is gone within seconds to a minute. It also feels soothing, smells pleasant and dries very quickly.

I can’t live without it. One bottle lasts me years. I don’t even know if other products out there exist. This is tried and true. I’m a loyal customer for life.

Took me a while to realize that you need to use a LOT of this when compared with other dry shampoos, but it works well. Love that it comes with a refillable pump and natural ingredients. I don’t like the smell of the grapefruit and lavender, but that is personal preference.

I’ll be trying their new scent (which came out just after I ordered the bottle I’m on now) when I finish with this bottle. Would LOVE to see an un-cented option in the future.

I had been using an expensive dry shampoo that was still an aerosol. I wanted to get away from the price and the aerosol! This couldn’t have fit the bill better! My expectations weren’t high – but for the price I was willing to give this a try.

My family and friends all know, I am the queen of dry shampoo and have been for over a decade (I have a LOT of hair and really don’t enjoy washing it more than once or twice a week 😳). I love Suave products! I have been using them for years. I use the professional shampoo conditioner line daily so purchasing the just made sense. I have wavy locks and I don’t want to wet water wash my hair everyday because it will dry out my hair and scalp.

did a great job at refreshing my beautiful curls and absorbing that access oil at the roots of my hair line. However the downside is the extremely overpowering floral scent. I am unfortunately only giving this product a two star because of this.

The scent lingers for hours and is not appealing at all. I do not like giving negative reviews but I would want to know about this before purchasing. I am not recommending this product and I will not be buying it again.

I give the suave professionals dry shampoo a 3 star rating. I give three stars because honestly it is not my favorite product. Lets break it down into three categories. looks, smell, and overall affectivness.

Looks: it came in a tall sleek green bottle. It looked nice. I couldve personally like a brighter color but it works! Smell: honestly the smell to me was aweful. It reminded me of like a grandma scent.

And it lasted in my hair all day. The smell did not go away. I guess thats a good think and a bad thing. Normally we want our scents to lay during the day however this scent in particular i didnt like.

If they could get a different scent it would be awesome! Affectiveness: overall it worked pretty well. It did its job. It was kind of heavy feeling in my hair though, and by the end of the day it was getting oily again.

Overall to me this product did a decent job. It was not my favorite scent and didnt last all day in my hair.

I purchased this after seeing it in instyle, it is the worst smelling spray I’ve ever put on my hair but suave should be impressed with the smells staying power. If you want to smell like a dirty old man then this is the dry shampoo for you.

The layers of heavy musk and Avon skin so soft will keep people away all day, it’s an introverts dream! This dry shampoo says not only did I not shower but I want to make sure everyone knows it with this overpowering curse of a smell that will linger on clothes, chairs and the car.

I really like it. Anything negative sounding in my review is due to operator error. big surprise there! The first time I used it, I only used a small amount and only on the top front half, because that is where I have always used dry shampoo.

It didn’t occur to me to use this one all over. I have been brushing with the Boar’s hair brush twice a day which has been doing a wonderful job of distributing my natural oils all over, so it makes sense to distribute the dry shampoo more.
