20 Best Dogs For New Dog Owners (2023 Updated)

My eight year old dachshund practically licked the bag as I was opening it! He enthusiastically ate all of it and he is a notoriously picky eater at least when it comes to dog food. Obviously, this is day one and we will see what happens down the road but I’m hoping this is a food he will enjoy eating.

I’ve tried many, many dog foods throughout his life and, outside of the more expensive and organic Fromm, Purina ProPlan is the only other food my dog has ever seemed to enjoy eating and done well on.

I like this particular One senior mix as it has the shredded pieces as well as small kibble which is definitely more appealing to him. We shall see! 3 stars for now only because I don’t know the long-term results.

Full disclosure, I tried to stick with Fromm and attempted to transition him over to a weight management adult food that he didn’t care for at all. I thought I would give this a try as he has liked Purina before and it would also be convenient to include in my regular Target shopping order.

I am so surprised at how much my dog enjoys this food! Here is why: My pup is 7yrs, she is slowing down in activity and starting to pack on some extra love handles. With aging and her metabolism assumingly slowing down I decided time to change foods.

I did tons (obsessive amounts) of research online comparing brands, reviews and obvs health benefits. I then went to my local pet store and bought 6 different kinds of food. I then also got on Chewy (love Chewy BTW) and bought 5 additional different kinds.

(My pup is very picky with food! Always has been. She is also spoiled and I want her not only to have a good for her food but I want her to actually ENJOY eating it). She has only tried 4 of my ‘stock’ now and honestly I do not think I even need to attempt the additional bags (they will be donated, since un-opened, to a local shelter).

SHE LOVES THIS ONE!!! The others, while good food quality Im sure she eats a bowl or two of and then meh. is not excited about them, sort of eats them just because she needs to eat and I did not notice any ‘changes’ in her after = for good or bad (ie: poops etc) YET when it comes to THIS bag.

She goes nuts!! We’re well into the large bag being mostly empty now, way pass a ‘bowl or two’ of being excited for something ‘new’! She gets all happy and thrilled to eat now – even more so than the original food she was on from age 3-6yrs old.

ALSO (FurMomma excited parts:) IT just so happens to also be way less expensive than ANY of the 11 other brands I bought, Also BTW her poops on this food also fantastic, PLUS I have noticed a HUGE Significantly noticeable Pep In Her Step! She is bursting with energy again, running and wanting to play so much more.

even before turning 7yrs she is energy now like when she was around 4-5yrs old. I am hoping over time it remains good for her but I am Surprised how happy she, and I am with this!! I was hoping for a food to just maintain her new older lifestyle BUT instead got a food that reverted her back to a happier, younger Pup.

(if you made it this far, sorry so long, I am just thrilled about this and wished Id found this food years ago for her, I dont even normally write reviews, esp not long book like ones/hope it helps someone else out, and their pup).

Informative and easy reading. Lots of breeds I’ve not heard of before. A real eye opener.

I have 4 rescue wolf dogs and 2 rescue labs. Lots of appetites! I balance out their diet with this food, they eat quite a bit of raw meat, veggies and fruits- but still need the vitamins and minerals for a healthy diet.

To them this bag has treats inside. After picking out all the chicken chunks they think I specially gave with dry dog food, they eat the rest of the remaining kibble. I am cautious of treats for dogs because of where they are manufactured and ingredients, they get raw cow bones, deer bones , chicken feet and occasionally a treat bone maybe once every 6 Mos.

My pack is healthy , happy and full of energy along with beautiful double coats of fur that float by me. Ordering was easy, cheaper than @ a regular store. The only problem that happened was their 6 mo treat bones didn’t come with their order after I told them they got treats on the way.

I contacted Chewy and they were shipped out that day. I’m trying the regular once a month delivery and will see how much it stays within my budget, rescuing dogs, I never know when another forgotten soul will need a place to feel safe and join my pack until they find their forever home.

I have fed this exact dog food except for it was chicken and rice for the last 5 years or so my 6-year-old dog was having some gut issues and when I went to get her up today on her shots for boarding I brought up some of the issues and he said you need to put her on Purina One I told him she already is on Purina One chicken and rice.

He proceeded to tell me to switch her to the lamb and rice formula. So I did this is the third bag (not of this size) it took her quite a few weeks actually quite a few months to fully get back to eating normal in fact she’s not there yet at first she would just nibble and then she started eating a little more and then got to where she was eating about half of her normal feast.

I know this is a long review my point is I can tell that it’s treating her better by the look of her poop and she doesn’t seem to do her stretching issues when she’s eating. Her shedding has got better and I will continue to feed it to her and I hope I continue to see improvements.

Please keep this product in stock that is one of the hard issues with this product. It’s very hard to find! I would definitely recommend this product to my friends and family!.

We added a 5th member to our pack for a Christmas present 🙂 He’s a beautiful german shepherd boy. The breeder had him on a $95 a bag puppy food. Yeah, just no. We bought another brand of puppy food and the purina canned food, which he ate.

We noticed after we bought the 2nd bag that he seemed disinterested in the food. Our pet store let us exchange the unopened bag of the previous food for this. We bought the biggest bag they had, not knowing if he would even like it.

He loves it and is devouring every meal with a little canned as a topper. We also give this to our 2 year old Golden who seems to love it, which is a bonus because he has been a picky eater from the day we brought him home.

They both love it. With 5 dogs, feeding time can be hectic, but it’s a team effort and every one of them is eating a Purina brand of dog food!! These two boys on the Large Breed Puppy and my three small ones are on the Purina Beneful with the matching wet food as a topper.

Geez it’s nice not having 4 or 5 different foods. Wonderful food!.

This version with oats is a lot better than potato-laden grain-free version The Honest Kitchen sells. I do a 50/50 split by volume (it’s like a 25/75 split by calories) between this and Ziwi Peak Chicken.

My dog’s poops are great but a bit more frequent due to the veggies (my vet said this is normal and not to be worried about unless the frequency on a day to day basis varies a lot), and his energy is boundless.

The only downside is that they cheap out on a couple of ingredients, namely Selenium Sodium instead of Selenium Yeast. My puppy did not do well on the grain free version of this – they substitute oats for white potatoes and the order of ingredients is a bit different, too.

If your puppy does have a grain allergy, I would highly advise against the grain free version of this. Similarly, if your puppy does not have a grain allergy, put them on the grain inclusive version of this or look elsewhere.

The only other food I would consider for my dog is Open Farm – they use the yeast form of selenium, too! Only downside with Open Farm is that they use meat meal, but it’s Open Farm so this is likely a healthy and humanely sourced version of meat meal.

Open Farm, Ziwi, and The Honest Kitchen all have great options IMO. Much better than the Dr. Hill, Purina, Kirkland, etc. junk food most people feed their dogs.

A great approach towards kibble/dry dog food. My dogs absolutely love this food, and I’m thrilled they are receiving good quality ingredients in a very convenient form, and with some grains included.

I’ve always had issues over the years with “grain-free” foods causing recurrent digestive upset in my Mastiff and Bulldog breeds. I loved the grain-free clusters, but the constant need for digestive supplementation for my dogs was a nuisance.

I’ve had great results with settling my dogs’ tummies once I was able to switch over to this “grain-inclusive” cluster formula. The need for digestive supplements has stopped. YAY! This new grain inclusive formula lacks the wonderful, “turkey stuffing” smell, but it more than makes up for it in the gentleness on their stomachs, and ease of digestion.

Here’s the one caveat I have about all of the types of Clusters offered by THK thus far: they are FAR too high in calories. 422 kCalories per cup would be a common caloric need for adult, neutered/spayed dogs actively competing in field, hunting, or agility trials.

For the average spayed/neutered household pet (and especially bulldogs, mastiffs, pugs, etc. ) this is a very high calorie food. The concept many dog food manufacturers try to put forth that some foods are simply more nutrient dense and therefore dogs can be fed much less, without feeling hunger, is completely false (seriously, try feeding half-rations to a pampered bulldog or pug, and see how much sleep they will let you get).

The Honest Kitchen has been excellent with not making that, or any unfounded claims, but I truly wish they could lower the calories of their Clusters to the “approximate” industry average of 350 kcalories per cup for pet dog foods.

Perhaps a “diet” version – without chicken – of these wonderful grain-inclusive Clusters might be a consideration for THK in the future? Otherwise, I’m a true fan of THK products, and have all of my dogs’ food and treats on recurring orders.

It’s just good stuff.

I have a picky eater. I’ve tried almost every healthy, high-quality, small breed dog food there is! I’ve found very few to her taste! This is the ONLY dry food that’s small enough & soft enough for my 4lb Maltese to actually be able to eat! Even so, she likes to bring me a few pieces to break into half or quarters for her! LOL! I really wish they’d offer a Toy Breed Blend that’s just this exact same formula, but with pieces that are only a quarter of the size! I give her a dish of this and another of the FreshPet Small Dog Bite-Size twice a day, with plenty of fresh water.

She never just eats all of her food at once, so she needs a dry food to be able to graze on day and night. Also, we live in hurricane country — so a healthy dry food in a small, durable, resealable bag that lasts her a good long while is absolutely essential for evacuations! This fits the bill perfectly – and it’s affordable! TL;DR – The ONLY dry food suitable for a tiny 4lb Maltese! Others are too big, too hard, cause tummy trouble, etc!.

Well K9Cuisine, I am impressed. I placed my order on Friday and FedEx delivered it on Sunday and I live in Texas whisk is half the country away from ya’ll in distance. We learned about Fromm from the obedience trainer we work with to train our Rottie.

His name is “Rocky”. The last 2 orders I have placed with K9, Rocky has had his nose planted on the box when Fed Ex delivered it. He knows it is good for him and he loves his Fromm dog food. Virtually everyday, during their neighborhood walk, my wife gets compliments about Rocky’s beautiful shiny coat and his bright clear eyes.

Initially I started with the “GOLD” version of the Fromm dry dog food. Our dog loves Fromm so much, that this time I have ordered several cases of Fromm “wet” dog food. it also arrived today and once again, Rocky’s nose was focused on that box of Fromm wet dog food.

I like Fromm because it is recommended by professional dog handlers and it is “fairly” priced. Thank you K9Cuisine for providing such “stellar” service and such fair prices. We are very pleased and Rocky is also.

This dry kibble is an excellent food for my 3 pure bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniels as well as my Australian Cattle Dog. The Cavaliers get a much smaller amount at each meal than the ACD. All dogs get added fresh vegetables and sometimes meat as well… if it is available for them that day.

All have been eating Fromm’s kibble for many years. The ACD is 9, she has had it for 8+ years. She is very healthy. Vet loves her coat and teeth, as well as her overall health. The Cavaliers are almost 5 and under 3 years old.

They too are very healthy. Good food, proper amount of exercise and playtime, as well as free time to relax keeps them in great shape. You will pay a bit more for the Fromm’s dry food. But the overall health benefits of it are undeniable.

I personally, would rather spend the money on quality food, and not on vet bills for unhealthy dogs. This just makes sense to me. Try it…. It can improve or maintain the health of your dogs as well.

I started my cavalier on Fromm several months ago. Vet recommended incorporating dry food into her feeding regimen. I wanted to find a good brand that had whole grain products and a friend recommended Fromm.

Bailey absolutely loves it. The adult small breed version as well as the regular adult version works well with small breeds such as cavaliers. The latter food size is small enough. The product comes in a variety of flavors for dogs needing a whole grain diet.

She has shown improvement in overall health and wellness since consuming this product.

I have fed my German Wirehaired Pointers Eukanuba since the early 90’s. I compete in dog shows and performance events and it has always kept my dogs in great condition. My dogs live to be almost 16 years old and I believe this to be a direct effect of feeding them Eukanuba in addition to my part in keeping them active.

I was worried when P&G sold it to Mars but I didn’t notice any quality changes. Since the pandemic it has been almost impossible to find. I don’t know if that is due to the pandemic or due to that fact that their dry diet is no longer made in the USA, it’s now made in Australia.

So it could also be a supply chain issue. I was able to get a couple bags and they were produced in Australia, and didn’t notice any changes. I asked my vet because I was concerned about it not being made in the USA and he was not concerned stating Australia would have similar standards and would still be subject to our UDSA inspections.

I ended up having to switch to another food because I can’t consistently find it and my dogs 1) don’t like it and 2) are having stomach/digestive issues even though I slowly changed them over to it. I hope that Eukanuba becomes readily available again.

I was recently able to order a bag but I’m somewhat concerned to switch them back over to it if it won’t be available again. This is such a good food!.

I have two German Shorthaired puppies. Our first, 7 month old Koda started on it when she was old enough to eat solids through the breeder. We kept her on it, as we were assured it was the best and the healthiest for her.

As she grew, her weight remained consistent and she became skinnier and skinnier. She gets meals 3 times a day, each containing as much food as she will eat. After being on the food for almost 7 months, she is skin and bones.

Her ribs, spine, and hips are visible and she looks as if she is going to snap in two. Our second puppy, Frankie, is 4 months old. Having come from a different breeder, we switched him onto Eukanuba, like Koda.

Frankie has always been a big boy, the vet projected he would be almost 80 pounds! However, after only 2 months on this food, eating 3 times a day with unlimited servings during feeding time, his ribs started to become visible and his weight halted.

He was no longer gaining and he was becoming skinnier. That was the last straw. I do not recommend this food to anyone with a “medium breed” dog.

Got this for my sweet baby, Kemper, to lose a couple pounds but he’s only been eating this a couple weeks. He loves to eat most anything & hasn’t turned away this food but since my other 2 picky babies haven’t turned their noses up at it I’d have to say they love this type of Eukanuba as well as all the others they’ve eaten all their lives.

SMALL BITES FOR SMALL DOGS! A plus for tiny Shitzu, tiny Maltese & a very hungry Schnauzer. Also, the customer service rep was a complete angel. I hate I forgot her name because she is a beautiful soul.

She was very kind, sweet & professional. She promised to send Eukanuba on a certain day when shipment arrived & she did everything she said she’d do. Chewy is wonderful!.

What a wonderful cozy, soft and cuddly fun big dog came into my house one day for my 9 pound Havapoo Pepper. It really didn’t look like anything special online, even in the box as I was opening it up.

But WOW, when you take Buddy (that’s what I named him) out of the box, that first feel of him is magic. All you want to do is hug him and never let go. The you see there is a heart you can insert into Buddy and he starts being human.

The heart starts beating and he becomes real. And then, you can make him warm with a small packet and he comes to life. You hold him for a while and you suddenly forget all your problems and guess what? You fall asleep, and Pepper never gets to play with Buddy.

So, Buddy is a wonderful addition to Pepper’s toy box, if it ever gets into the toy box. But seriously, Snuggle Puppy is definitely a wonderful behavioral aid toy. I found that my hyperactive dog Pepper loved Snuggle Puppy from the minute he came into the house, well from the minute I let Pepper have him.

I saw a change in Pepper’s behavior soon after. Snuggle Puppy began to calm her down, especially at night. When you look at the price you might think it is a bit expensive but believe me it is worth every penny.

It is a great purchase.

We bought one of these just before we drove for several hours to pick up a two month old White German Shepherd Dog. She slept with it all the way home, and every night since, plus often during the day.

She is now a few days short of her 6 month birthday and this snuggle puppy is with her every night, most evenings and a lot of days. She began sleeping through the night earlier than she should have and we are convinced this snuggle puppy is the reason.

She can go through a bully stick in less than an hour or so regardless of how thick it is and this snuggle puppy looks almost brand new!!! When the batteries for the little heart start to get weak, she will bring it to us to perform a little “heart surgery”!! We leave it set on a continuous heart beat and the batteries last a couple of weeks.

Be forewarned that if it is really quiet, hearing that little heart beat is a little unnerving at first!!! LOL. This is absolutely the most wonderful gift you could give a young puppy!.

I actually bought two Snuggle Puppies – one for upstairs, and one for downstairs, before I brought home my 3 month old Yorkshire Terrier. The honest truth is that I’m not sure the heat or the beating heart made all that much difference.

It didn’t bother her, but I learned that this toy was a super favorite whether it was turned on or not. I think it has something to do with the size and comfortable plushness of the toy. The first picture I have of Charlotte was of her piled on top of one of her two litter mates.

She does the same thing with SP. She is now 7 1/2 months old and still hauls SP around with her. the other night I felt her get on top of me in the middle of the night. I groaned, but thought ok. Then there was a PLOP!, and I realized she hauled Snuggle Puppy up there with her.

I grabbed SP and put him beside me, then PLOP! he was back on top. It took about 8 tries for me to convince Charlotte she was welcome, but SP could sleep beside us. I would absolutely recommend the Snuggle Puppy to anyone coming home with a new puppy.

Preface- I have a 6-month-old large breed puppy. (we’re waiting for the Embark DNA results, but he is believed to be a mastiff shepherd mix). I had him on Purina One large breed puppy kibble, and I mixed it with Purina One healthy puppy lamb and long grain rice canned.

He had the absolute worst smelling #2 in the history of ever in the world from a living creature. If a window was open and he went to see a man about a dog. it would waft into the house. then suddenly, I’m frantically running from room to room trying to find the results of an obvious code brown (there must be one because it is SO STRONG).

nope. It’s OUTSIDE! I’m being totally honest when I tell you that I have almost tossed my cookies several times when having to clean it up while we were still having accidents. I also think Karl was offended by it as well.

He would complete #2, and then RUN to the deck, then sit and patiently wait to be let in lol true story. I decided it was the food. Did some research and discovered Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy.

I decided on it for several reasons. I still mix with the Purina One Pup lamb. 3 weeks later, he is full-on it alone (kibble wise) and there is hardly any smell at all from current #2’s! It also seems he has less waste to #2 with.

Another bonus, because the food bricks this 6-month-old, 60lb, sweet handsome fur fur leaves. well, let’s just say “WHAT THE? This Dog needs a freaking toilet!” If you are experiencing this, try this food! Oh and Karl loves it too, and isn’t running from his own #2’s any longer! Totally worth the cost.

I had originally started my big pit mix rescue on the diamond naturals skin and coat formula, which he loved. The kibble pellets were small, ball shaped, they fit in a slow feeder toy that he loves, and it was a good smell, as far as a dog is concerned.

But when I got our boxer pup, who also ended up being over 90 pounds, I decided to go ahead and switch them both over to a large breed food when I switched the boxer off of his puppy food. The Diamond large breed formulas are completely different, both lamb and chicken.

The kibbles disc-like, much bigger and flatter, they’re lighter in color, which I don’t know if that makes a difference, they dont seem as dense, and they don’t seem to have much smell either. It must be a little like eating cardboard pellets.

Even the rescue, who will literally eat anything, will actually leave breakfast until dinner and then finally eat it. He never does that! So sadly I’ve had to start looking for another brand.

I have an 18 year old & a 15 year old, both terrier mixes. Lately I’ve had to change food as they’ve been shoveling it out of their bowls with their noses. After going thru several bags of different brands we may have found a winner.

Only on week 2, which is first week of no more mixing with the old brand. One has soft stool, so am adding some cooked white rice to help firm it up; hopefully, that will pass. They’re happy to eat this, but I have concerns with some ingredients being sourced from China.

Also, it contains salt & I’ve noticed an increase in water consumption & a few tinkling accidents have occured. Hopefully things will balance out soon. I’ve come to realize at this age my goal is to keep them happy & feed them something they’ll eat that is fairly healthy for them, so their desires weigh more than mine at this stage of their life.

I did a great job getting them to this age, so let them eat what they want!.

Amazing product. We picked the Kings Charles Spaniel. My mum has dementia, so things can be very hit and miss with her. She loved him at first, then her attention went elsewhere. I can honestly say, as her carer, I find it very soothing and relaxing to stroke this pet.

He’s perfect. Good weight, great size, super soft but realistically so. Cannot recommend enough. If your loved one doesn’t find comfort from this, you will.

What a great book! Not only does it include and explain how to teach some really fun tricks, but it includes snippets from other dogsports like disc dog, agility, parkour for dogs and dock dog. There are movie-style tricks to teach your dog and profiles on some professional trainers as well as tips on videoing your superstar.

Great for use at home or for those running a dog activity or tricks class at a club.

This book is inspiring with instructions with demonstration pictures, a perfect combination. Several dogs were used for variety. Clear instructions, fantastic pictures to show the steps, what more could we need? I bought one for myself and reordered another for a holiday gift.

I actually have 3 puppies currently, and they all loved this food! I’m always looking for good food choices to keep my fur babies satisfied and healthy. This food is definitely a good choice! The first ingredient is de-boned turkey, instead of a grain.

Thanks to Influenster, I received this product complimentary, in exchange for my honest review. I have nearly all positive things to say about Now Fresh dog food. I have 2 small Chihuahuas, which enjoyed this and I completely followed the transitioning instructions when starting this pet food.

I had no issues with resistance to it, pleasant surprise as they are usually so snobby about their food. I appreciated that it’s all very authentic and natural. No artificial colors or flavors, no additives or hormones, smell is definitely mild, I really dont smell anything to it at all and even better there is no greasy residue left in the bowl, which I notice with most all dry dog foods.

The bag closes in simplistic but beneficial manner, sealing by means of Velcro Ziploc, keeping fresh for an extended period, awesome plus, however nothing attention grabbing with the bag decor and coloration.

Price point is shocking, very very expensive and a huge downside for me and my budget, unfortunately, but still a really enjoyable dry dog food, for both pet and owner. ##NOWFRESHkibble #complimentary @nowfresh.

When I adopted my dog, they had no information on him/his history. I wanted to know more about his make up to better understand his behaviors. I ordered this test just for fun, but it gave me more information and understanding than I hoped.

The shelter where I adopted him and his vet always assumed he was a “lab mix”. When asked, I always told people I thought he was a lab mixed with a beagle or other hound. He has a nose like no other dog I’ve met, and when researching lab/beagle mixes, I found multiple that looked so much like him.

The only thing was that he acts nothing like a lab. He hates water/swimming, doesn’t fetch or play with balls, cannot catch anything in his mouth when tossed, etc. After Embark, I learned he doesn’t act like a lab because he is actually only 11% lab! He’s actually more of an American pit, golden retriever, American foxhound mix, which makes up over 2/3 of him! The absolute best part of this was unexpected.

I wasn’t aware that he could potentially find relatives! Not only are there so many dogs that share DNA with him, there are 2 that share 50% and are considered immediate family, being as close as human full siblings or parent/child.

Both of these immediate family members live in the same area, only a couple hours away from us. This leads me to wonder if my dog was originally from that region as well! Although knowing his make up doesn’t change how much I love my dog or have a major impact on our day-to-day activities, it makes me feel closer to him.

I understand him a little better now that I’m able to correctly research his breed(s) and get a better feel for his habits, temperament, behavior, etc.

We are family with 2 rescue pups. Gwen, we’ve had for 5 years and knew was a boxer mix, but wanted to find out exactly what she is; and Sparky a 7 month old coming in at around 65 lbs the shelter said was a mastiff mix, who we’ve had for about 2 months.

We were super curious to find out about him to get an idea of his full grown size. Both samples were sent in the same package, however embark lost one of them, only to find it later. So, since my fiancé got these tests as a surprise for Christmas, Christmas morning we sat around the tv with my daughter as he streamed the results.

Sparky was the one that they had received and we were waiting on Gwen since the losing it finding it mix up. So Sparky’s results start to populate- American bulldog, boxer, Rottweiler and bulldog. Obviously, they entered the wrong sample and this belonged to Gwen, no big deal.

Seemed accurate as some of the family she had were here in Colorado also and looked very similar. We changed the name and profile pic to reflect a Gwen. A few days later Sparky’s results came in, my kiddo- who we bought the dog for was SO excited to finally see what her puppy is- boxer and bulldog mix.

I called and expressed that the results have to be mixed up. He looks nothing like those dogs, he’s already giant for a puppy. The guy on the line went in to his speech about genotypes and phenotypes and how dogs don’t always resemble their DNA bc of alleles… I explained to him I have a science background and my fiancé is in medicine- I am aware of how genetic traits work, but between his physical size and appearance and especially given the fact that there was a mix up in receiving the test to begin with there had to be a mistake and we would like a re test.

He told me that once the results are complete they are final and that there was no way there was a mixup and that they didn’t owe us anything. Truly disappointed in both the customer service and the results, especially since my kiddo was so excited for this.

Terrible company.

You can tell by the smell of the food that it is high quality. Also, my Golden Retriever puppy flat out devoured it. We did try to follow the suggested guidelines on how to mix your old food and the new food, but our puppy actually preferred this brand and wanted nothing to do with the old food.

The problem will be switching back to our old brand. And, we will have to switch – ONLY due to the fact that this food is so expensive. Now, if the manufacturer will send us some (greatly) discounted coupons since we’ve reviewed the product, we may consider switching as long as we can get a discount.

But (and this is the only reason for a 4 star review) $110 for a 22. 5 pound bag of kibble is waaay too expensive for my family to afford. It’s worth it for those that can pay it though. You WILL NOT be disappointed with how this food is made and what it does for your dog.

She was (even more) energetic. She picked up tricks a little quicker. Her breath never smelled and her coat was/is beautiful.

I started my now 7 month old German shepherd on Purina pro plan because I liked the mid range price and his vet recommended. He has always had diarrhea issues and itches more than a pup should. First thought it was a chicken intolerance so tried the pro plan sensitive skin and stomach.

The big concern I had is my dog turned his nose away from his proplan food. He of course ate it eventually but he never was thrilled about it. I thought he was being a snob but Tonight I witnessed my gsd pick out the Purina pro plan pieces to eat orijen.

I am without a doubt certain animals know what they need better than I. I think Purina has too many filler ingredients or the grains are just too much for him. Of course every animal is different and I wish mine was the kind that did great on the cheaper brand but he just isn’t.

Worth every penny to have a food my dog enjoys and I have no doubt his digestive and skin issues will improve.

I did a ton of research on what food to buy my new Golden Retriever Puppy and really had a lot of trouble deciding in the weeks leading up to getting him. Reading all of the concerns about the potential that grain free diets may be linked to canine dilated cardiomyopathy took a lot of the premium grain free food off the table for us.

I considered raw and in the end decided that it would be too much work because I would have prepared it myself. I was so relieved to find that Orijen had this new grain inclusive formula and decided to try it.

We were transitioning from the food the breeder sent home with us to Orijen and at the half-way point, mixing 50% of the old with 50% of the new, he started to pick the Orijen food out and leave the old food in his dish.

At this point, we are at less than 1/3 old food and will start feeding only Orijen tomorrow because he refuses to eat any of the old, in spite of the fact that we are only feeding on the low end of the minimum amount of food.

He has had zero digestive issues and we are extremely happy with our choice at this point.

This has got a lot of great ingredients. Mini cat food supplements won’t even list the amounts of what they have in their product. And most of them have half of the ingredients that Life Extension does.

I trust Life Extension. I take many of their supplements as well. I figure if they are good enough for me they’re good enough for my eight year old kitty. Here’s a tip for your cat to eat it though. Just start out with a little bit on their food and slowly work it up.

My cat is an 8 yr old rescue and came to me at 17 pounds so I have to give her well over the two scoops that are only for 9 pound cats. But she doesn’t complain I’m surprise she eats it because she’s very picky.

Remember cats do not have nearly the amount of taste buds that humans do. Of course if she absolutely would not eat it I would switch but she did and honestly is more active in this product. I pay $40 for an online product from A “Vet”.

She would be worth it if I noticed a difference but I did not! On life extensions products she actually runs down the hall ☺️.

My poor dog, I have a standard poodle he’s 6 months and I just couldn’t afford royal canine anymore because he has a huge appetite. I didn’t research fully on the best foods for his breed, especially coming from a top tier brand.

I liked the price of this and it had good reviews so I tried it. Mistake! It’s been 2 weeks now and my dog was kennel trained and almost house trained, that’s been reversed with this food. His poop and gas is the worst smell I’ve ever experienced and he has to go twice as much as he did before.

He is not adjusting. His poop is not solid anymore and he’s not his energetic self. Unless you started with this brand I don’t recommend it at all. Process of ordering from chewy was awesome though. No complaints there.

I was getting a pup from a well reputable AKC Breeder who had Championship Bloodlines and she recommended this brand. She has had about 40+ years breeding her precious dogs and having this as their main course.

I switched and I have been happier than ever! My puppy was soooo healthy! Vet runs have even been doing great! I got more for my older dog because the puppy formula convinced me of how well this brand is.

I mean, even their coats are so silky and longer. No issues with dryness or dull looks. Their build is now bulkier but not fat. Highly active and overall great behavior. I RECOMMEND this dry food for puppies.

The chunks are small and easy to chew for first timers.

1st Ingredient: Chicken by-product meal = “less desirable” parts of a chicken that remain after the meat is removed. 2nd Ingredient Corn = “Self explanatory, cheap and not healthy even for humans (3) Artificial chicken flavor.

And. The list goes on! I just bought a puppy and this is what the seller gives to them. I suppose it’s better then WM food but these ingredients are horrible. If you made your own dog food with these ingredients it would hardly cost you anything.

No way! You need a high protein food with no fillers/additives.
