20 Best Curtain Rods For Heavy Curtains (2023 Updated)

I like them. They cannot hold heavy duty curtains, but are excellent for sheers plus a medium weight drape or curtain. Great value.

I decided to go back to the old kind of curtain rods for rod pocket curtains. They go around the corner. This was very important to me. Also they are double Rods so I could hang my drapes and my sheers on separate rods.

Plugged it in when I got it to see how loud it is. Very impressed with how quiet it is. Had a similar one about 30 years ago that sounded like a cross between a jet engine and a dental drill. This one even at highest setting isn’t bad at all.

Ran it up and down the speed dial and it seems to have pretty good torque at all the levels. Seems to have a fairly low vibration transfer from the motor. Will see how it is under actual work load. Nice weight and size.

Will have to run it for awhile to see how fast it heats up. Appears to have good vents on the side though, so that may not be an issue. Comes with a small assortment of grinding and sanding tips and an optional flexible shaft attachment.

Carry case plastic seems a little thin/flimsy but everything fits in it well and the latches open and close well. These units are much more portable. Will only use it for occasional things around the house I can’t use my hanging Foredom flex shaft for, so it won’t be getting any really heavy duty use.

Can’t wait to put it through its paces!.

Hardware is well put together, not chintzy. It was very easy to hang the hardware, not only were the instructions very clear but all holes were drilled as they should be. Coating on them is part of the metal so no concerns about it coming off.

Holding up heavyweight curtains. I would recommend this product for quality, ease of install, and look.

It’s hard to find this length in a decent finish. This is a matte black, exactly what I was looking for and provide me with the distance I needed to span a long multi window wall. Enough brackets are provided to support the entire length.

We used this Kenney double rod set in our bedroom to hang drapes for a 60 inch window. As always, follow the enclosed directions to be sure to properly secure the supports directly into the stud or a proper mounting to give adequate strength to hold all the weight.

The finish is elegant and durable. The directions are easy to follow for both a novice and the more advanced. The diameter of the rod lends itself well for a smaller room like a den or bedroom.

I recently purchased a house and I was looking for a way to put up some light sheer curtains to let in as much light in as possible. I like my house to be bright and cheerful. However, I also wanted a way that I could make the room dark when watching a movie or for privacy, without having to opt for the “darkening” blinds.

Those just didn’t seem appealing to me, so I was over the roof when I found these. I l can keep my sheer shades in the rod closest to the window and the darker curtains in the front, and when it’s time for a movie, all I have to do is pull the dark curtains to cover the window.

I love this double curtain rod. I will say that initially I was a little diappointed becuase the picture I saw only showed two rods, I assumed it was a set rather than a double rod. OOps, my bad since I didn’t pay attention.

I will say though that it is great quality and very pretty! Definitely recommend if you’re seeking a double rod for your windows.

I am very happy with this curtain rod so far. So far, it has been very, very durable! It is actually pretty heavy because it is made so well. The quality is super good too! Both parts are made from steel and do not bend or break easily at all.

Setting up the curtain rod is also really simple. It comes with everything you need to get it set up! Once you get the brackets in, all you have to do is hang the rod! There are 2 parts. One is a thicker curtain rod that you put the heavier curtains on.

The back rod is for lighter curtains. They can both hold a decent amount of weight too which I like! I really like that the rods are adjustable as well. You can make them go anywhere from 36″ to 66″.

I just like it because it makes them versatile and they fit on different sized windows. The other thing that is great is that since there are 2 different rods, you get a really nice layered look, if you use both rods! It just looks nicer and a bit fancier when you layer your curtains! All in all, I do highly recommend this curtain rod! It is really, really nice and really does hold up nicely! The color makes it work in any room on any window too! Give it a shot, you will be happy you did.

I usually only use your basic white curtain rod on my windows so this Kenney Hamlin Premium Decorative Double curtain rod is definitely a step up for me, and I love it! It’s the first thing I look at every time I enter my livingroom now.

It’s so classy and looks so much better than those old white metal curtain rods. I plan on getting a few more to add a touch of class in other rooms of my home too! If I’m going classy, I might as well go all the way!.

LOVE that the curtain hanging hardware that goes on the wall has a screw that goes in the top and bottom of the hardware, rather than just the bottom. I think it is more secure. It looks great on my window.

The quality is what I would expect for the price. I expect it to last a lifetime if taken care of. It takes some co-ordination to hang the curtains with the circular hardware (you must twist the end ballcaps off the curtain rod on one end, take the curtain rod out of the wall hardware on that side, hang the curtain, put the rod back through the hardware on that side, and then put the endcap back on.

) OR you could take the curtain rod apart in the center and hang that way, but you would need to people to keep the two rod pieces from falling. Once done, it is not going to fall out of the curtain holder.

This is a beautiful curtain rod, which is why I bought it online. But this rod is not Oil Rubbed Bronze at all. It is pure black. The decorate ends of the rod are Oil Rubbed Bronze. Fortunately my window treatment covers most of the rod.

In addition, it is very lightweight. This makes it feel like its not of a very good quality, but it makes it easier to install and I liked that. I needed a rod as long as possible so the skinny rod for sheers feels flimsy as if it might bow/bend under pressure over time because it’s stretched all the way to the longest possible width.

But, for now it is holding. It does look beautiful up on the wall.

This is the only product I found that extends 3 inches from the wall and has the proper range of widths to hang valances around blinds attached above (instead of inside) a window frame. The rods are sturdy and easy to install.

My only complaint would be that the rods did not come with any instructions, though after a short inspection the installation steps were easy to figure out.

You get what you pay for. I ordered the 48″ – 84″ curtain rod to go above my sliding glass door. The curtain rod showed up bent, customer service was very helpful giving me a refund. If the curtain rod would have shown up undamaged it would have served it’s purpose.

It came bent but usable, it was good to find an old fashioned large rod.

I had a small window I needed a curtain rod for. The Kenny Crenshaw curtain rod was just the right size and looked nice. The brackets were easy to install, just needed a drill and screwbit. It took me about 10 minutes from unpacking the curtain rod to having it installed and the curtain hung.

I thought it was quick and easy to install. It also looks very nice.

My husband was happy with this product, but I think the bar is too slim for the window frame we are using it above. I would suggest purchasing a more substantial bar to hang window treatments. The product would be great for a dorm room or otherwise student or young professional’s space.

The double curtain rod has a very elegant look to it. I also really love the brushed nickel color, it suits well with the color scheme that I have in my living room. I also really appreciate that. It does not feel heavy so I don’t have any fear of the curtain rod, falling or breaking the attachments that it has to sit on.

I think it’s very rare to find a curtain rod that is light weight and also very very beautiful but this one is just that. I also absolutely love how super easy it was to install, I had no problems at all.

This bay window curtain rod by kenney mission has a good finish and is much stronger. I fitted the rod and inserted a heavy blackout curtain. It withstand very well. All the rods and the elbows are completely adjustable and I love it, as it is easy to install as well.

Definitely a 5 star.

I’ve only had single curtain rods in my bay window and never looked finished. When I received this curtain rod we put it up and added the curtains and the curtain and rod look awesome. This just the thing we needed in our living.

No more horsing around with Molly bolts, stud finders, stripped screws and ruined drywall – these are very easy to install! I’ve hung a medium weight curtain on this and they have been holding firm for two months now, opening and closing every day.

Nails into the wall with very thin nails. It suggests it might accommodate 25lb drapery. I not sure that would be possible. Was unable to find a screw that would be as slender as to use in the hole in the fixture.

Returned it. I suggest Extremely light weight curtains only. Nice looking.

This was expensive for what it was, a flimsy rod that doesn’t support the wait of my curtains. The supports don’t come out far enough from the wall about the window so the curtain is crammed again the window so that it won’t open and close (gets bunched).

It looks bad and Ill go back to Ikea for a sturdier product.

This is a beautiful rod. I loved the twisted finial on this rod but it was too big for what I wanted. I returned this rod because the finial was really big and I wasn’t hanging heavy drapes. If I were hanging heavy drapes I would buy these again, I wish they made the twisted finial smaller I would have bought those in a heart beat.

Also I wish it had a nickel finish. My husband didn’t like the rod because he said the rod that slides into the bigger rod was to small and it had a sloppy fit, there was to much movement the rods should support each other.

Good quality for the price. I thought these were really sharp looking and matched my other wrought iron mirrors and wall decor perfect. Finals are perfect in size for me. Many found them to be to big.

About 3 1/2″ so bigger than alot of other finals. These do have screws in the end of rod that have to be tightened to hold rod into place.

I happened to return these particular rods ONLY because the finials were too big for my application. The room is an upstairs den and the finials were much too big for the windows. Otherwise they were beautiful and if I needed that size for another room, I would have kept them.

The on-line information was not sufficient enough to determine the size of the finials. I chose another set of rods with smaller finials, and they are great!.

Don’t pay any attention to the promotional reviews. In fact, they should never be taken seriously. The bracket is very cheap, 2 nail holes at the top of the bracket only and impossible to hit with a hammer without hitting the rest of the piece so it doesn’t attach properly and there is lack of support.

I have some serious buyers remorse. This is cheap tat, save your money and time and don’t buy it. You get what you pay for with this. Bed, bath and beyond should have more integrity than this.

I have lost count at how many curtain rods I have put up. Usually, the process of hanging the traditional brackets includes cursing and gnashing of teeth, it’s one of my least favorite things to do. This fast fit curtain rod really does make installation a breeze, just tap nails into the brackets and you are done.

The oil rubbed bronze rod looks really nice. The issue I have with this setup, is that on certain wall materials, the rod is left wobbly. The nails certainly do not hold as securely as the screws. Now, I believe this really depends on what kind of walls you have.

We originally wanted to use this in a bedroom but the sheetrock would not hold the nail. We ended up relocating it to our laundry room, where the walls are made of wood and it’s more secure but still not ideal.

The curtains we used are thicker than the basic ones but no where near the 25 lb limit, and the rod is a little bowed. This is a great option for maybe those that rent or people who do not have a busy household.

I really do love the idea and hope that I could try them again in the future.

The construction and ease of installation with this product is beyond comparison. For so long, I have hated hanging curtain rods because it can be so difficult to get the measurements right and the bar level.

The Kenney set comes with a measuring guide that you place along the edge of your window frame, so you can’t mess up. Additionally, each of the brackets is hung like a picture mount, with two brad’s going into the wall at a downward angle instead of actual nails or screws.

I imagine they will be very easy to remove by hand when the time comes and leave very little wear and tear. You can’t go wrong with these! I wish the rods themselves were a little bit more heavy-duty, but given that it’s a double rod and one rod only has to support one curtain, I suppose them being more lightweight makes sense.

I would definitely recommend this product and will be getting more in the future!.

I would have given the item five stars for style and price, but the gap between the two pieces of the rod where one side inserts into the other is too wide, so I have to lift the tab of the curtain over it each time I close the curtains.

Fortunately, I can reach the top of the curtain, otherwise I would have returned it.

This curtain rod is absolutely gorgeous. It is as described. The crystal balls on the end matched our crystal all door knobs and closet door knob. Really love the look.

Purchased online and received it faster then anticipated. Very sturdy even when it’s completely extended to full length. Instructions were easy to read and apply during install. Took longer putting hooks on the drapes then installing rod.

Purchased these for my mom at her request and she was quite disappointed with how cheaply made they were. She felt for the price that the wood look parts of the finials should have been actual wood.

This product is so much better than the picture. I wanted something that would make a statement and it does. Really solid and well made. My dining room looks fantastic.

Packaging seemed odd but rod looks beautiful. There is a weird plastic ring where the rod connects but my curtains hide it. I think it could possibly be removed.

Very attractive. Very difficult to mount, The instructions call for a 3/8″ hole if mounting into a solid backing, such as a wooden stud, but a 5/8″ hole to accommodate the plastic mollies into drywall.

I drilled the smaller hole deeply enough to handle the screw, then sank a 5/8″ hole in about drywall thickness, as the depth of the hole was into wood at the top of the wall. Almost impossible to screw things in, I went ahead and drilled 5/8″ all the way in.

Problem is, the slots in the top of the screws are so shallow, it was very tough to unscrew the screws, as the slots stripped. Make those slots deeper, and no problem.

In the 2 section pole , there is a minor design flaw. The narrower rod cannot be fully secured by the screw in the bracket with manipulation of the bend of the bracket. This is potentially a simple fix / adjustment and I was able to use it anyway.

Love the hardware, just was a little lighter than the picture. Was looking for more gold, and it was more whitish with gold undertones. But still beautiful and does the job. Good quality too.

Cheap molded plastic! Finale fell off and cracked into pieces! Cheaply made product! I have three windows and two finales on the same window are in pieces and I now have to replace! These are not metal! They are junk!.
