20 Best Bike Top Tube Bag (2023 Updated)

I’ve had top tube bags before but never bolt on ones. Then”non bolt” bags have always had a flop or wobble effect where they’d be hitting your knees or bouncing around. I’m a fan of restrap bags as they look classy and are quality made but I was a little cautious buying a top tube bag.

These worries were unfounded. The bottom of the bag is a solid (ish) piece and the bolts do a great job of holding it still while the front strap really just guides it to be straight. No knee knock or wobble.

Big enough to hold my phone, wallet and keys but not much else (it’s not really designed for mega storage) but the majority of things you’d want up front will fit in (including a large bag of Harribo, but it wasn’t large for long).

Better than a non bolt on and I recommend it if you have the top tube bolts on your frame.

Great bag. Note this newer version now includes two offset positions for the connection bolts, so you can fix it even if your eyes are closer to the stem than suggested in the detail. See the manufacturers site for newer photo.

Mine fits fine on the Diverge 2021, although the stem strap is not really compatible with the rubber boot of the future shock so I just attach to the top tube – fine if not overpacked. The zip rattles quietly but annoyingly when riding though.

I’d been looking for a decent sized bolt-on top tube bag for ages. This is the perfect size for a few snacks, phone and other bits and bobs. It’s really easy to access whilst riding, and means that you don’t have to carry so much in jersey pockets.

Cons. The zip rattles! I’d finally managed to get my gravel bike to run fairly silently with the addition of a GRX mech, but the zip rattles constantly on anything but smooth tarmac. Also, the stitched on faux-leather label sticks out just enough for you to catch your inner thigh on whilst climbing out of the saddle.

Overall really good quality, though, and as always, exceptional service from Sigma Sport.

I bought this because during the summertime I prefer a looser fitting tech t-shirt over a jersey, and needed to make up for the lack of pocket space. This bag is nice and sturdy, and doesn’t wobble on the frame.

I only have a single 1/4 inch spacer underneath my stem and had no issues with the front buckle. I haven’t had any issues with my knees hitting the bag as I’m pedaling either, but there is some very slight rubbing if I’m climbing out of the seat.

The bag is large enough to fit two inner tubes, phone, ID/credit card, a gel, a couple of fig newtons, and some beef jerky. If you put your extra tubes in a saddle pack though you could fit more snacks.

The way the zipper is positioned you could also carry a portable charger and run a cord to your bike computer. It’s awesome to have your stuff right there in front of you, instead of having to blindly fumble with jersey pockets or try and pull something out of your saddle bag on the go.

I haven’t had this long enough to comment on whether it’s going to mar the frame long-term, but the lack of wobbling leads me to believe no. There’s also a felt piece where the front bottom corner contacts the frame/headset that’s intended to prevent any scratches or paint rubbing.

I bought this a month ago and I am so happy with the quality and the size of it. I have attached it close to my handle bar instead of under my saddle and it is just the right place. I put my phone, my keys and some essential tools in it.

If you attach it under your saddle there is a little cover which comes out to protect your saddle from the rain. What a cool idea.

Great product. Very happy. Bag straps perfect for my MTB. Straps may need adapting for some frames particularly if a bike has a short head-stock (handle bars close to frame). Nice roomy compartment.

the bag capacity fits my needs. couldn’t adjust the elastic hold-down strap. A velcro closure would help the top flap when its closed from catching air/bugs (I’ll have to do that). otherwise a good bag.

Great little gas tank style bag. Revelate seems to always make quality kit. Really like how easy this bag snaps closed, and love the bolt-on feature (if your bike has top tube braze-ons).

This bag is a great size. I stored my phone, glasses lib balm and a bar. No need to store anything in my j jersey pocket. Easy to get to and the fastener practically closes by itself.

I put this on a bike I use for mountain biking. This is a good, sleek looking bag. I carry my iPhone that has a thick case on it, a mini bike tool, 2 masks, and there’s still room. The straps are good for holding sunglasses.

The stitching is precise and the inside has a clean finish.

Bigger than in the pics which good as will handle more gels and chews than you’d think. Does hide nicely behind the steerer tube and stem. Bungee cord is nice touch to attach to steerer tube. No wind flutter effect.

Zipper makes it easy to get stuff in snd out of.

Love this bag! Yes, storage capability is limited (i. e. , cannot store my phone or other bulky items in there, for example), but it is the perfect blend between being able to store enough (food, keys, $$) without being bulky and getting in the way, especially during intense riding sessions.

Perfect for any triathlon up to a 70.3. May need a bigger storage unit for a full Ironman

This is great minimalistic frame bag, very good build quality and stands very stable on bike frame. It’s wide enough that dosn’t brushes the knees. It’s easy and fast mount/dissmount, i use it to hold one battery pack of 6 cells for lights – or – mini toolset, co2 16g bottle and inflator, tubeless tyre repair kit.

I tested it od fast downhill rocky terrains with trek fuel ex and there is no movement :).

Good quality, and can fit to multiple parts of the frame. Handy to carry some small items in, such as phone/wallet/etc. and waterproof which is handy! Would recommend.

Its a great bag for the price. My only complaint would be, the zipper is located a little too close to the headset. Mine gets caught between the bag and the steerer tube some times.

When I saw this bike accessory, the “Zefal Top Tube Bike Bag (Heavy Duty with Removable Phone Sleeve)”, I knew just what I had been missing! As I researched this bag, I found it met all my requirements.

I need a bike bag that is not so bulky it keeps me from riding comfortably. The addition of the removable phone sleeve with the clear cover was just almost perfect for my needs. As I swap between vehicles, it is great it doesn’t take much to unstrap and take it with me.

At the same time, the straps are sturdy enough not to fail anytime soon. My phone fits nicely and I can see who is calling. All I have to do it pull over to take the call without endangering myself or anyone else on the road.

The bag holds just the few items I always carry. At the same time it doesn’t hold so much I run the risk of over packing, a big problem of mine. All in all I am pleased with this item. As with anything I purchase, I hope it holds up for several years!.

Iphone home button does not work through the plastic. Tried my iphone and my husband’s iphone. Tried with a case on the phone and without a case. You cannot switch between apps or get to your home screen.

Knew that the finger scanner would not likely work but thought that I at least would be able to push the button down and work the phone this way. Returning it.

Very long, very narrow with stiff sidewalls. That’s why I bought it – it doesn’t get in the way yet it is reasonably spacey. The shiny fabric on top does not look very premium, but it might be useful in the wet.

Basically none of the mounting straps really fit with my bike, but that’s an extreme use case – a recumbent with an arm-thick main tube. On a normal bike it should be just fine. I would have preferred a removable velcro for that reason, though.

Pleased with this top tube bag. Debut ride was a 160km bike pack and this bag was awesome – enough to carry loads of gels / snacks, keys, locks etc. The sliding top cover is brilliant, allows much easier access than a standard tope tube bag.

One great feature is the small elasticated tie for the front, to pass under the stem. This is much smaller than many other bags and so fits my bike even with very little spacers under the stem. Too early to say how it will stand up to regular use but it seems really well made, as you would expect from Restrap.

Only negative – not really a negative but the height means I caught my leg on it a few times getting on the bike, causing the zip to undo as I did so! Not really an issue as it will depend on the frame geometry for individuals.

This is a great bag. Looks good and sits firmly on the top tube without wobbling and does not get in the way of the knees. I can fit a spare tube, chain breaker, cafe stop lock, Samsung s10 phone, CO2 16g canister, Stan no tube sealant bottle and multitool.

There is still a little room left for an energy gel or two. Reduces the amount of stuff in the back pockets to zero.

I bought this principally for the poorer weather months or for when I go on longer runs. Rather than pack my world into back pockets, this bag is a very useful size for storing things that you might want to get hold of, without having to unzip a rain jacket or gillet.

I’ve used the charging port, to power my GoPro when I forgot to charge it – the little power bank nestling comfortably in the bag along with cables, money, spare batteries, phone etc. For those people who prefer not to spoil the lines of their beautiful bike, this is not for you, I have a medium frame and it takes up a few inches of top tube.

That said, it does like quite neat A good piece of advice that I heard about these, is that once you’ve got it attached how you want it, be prepared to cut off the excess lenghts of velcro. This will stop them protentially rubbing you and your shorts.

This bag is a perfect size for keeping those odd small things that need to be readily available but you don’t want stuffed in pockets. For me it holds a couple of energy bars, a small café lock, spare battery pack and leads, multitool and keys.

It has proved to be waterproof, even during consistently wet rides through the winter months. There are two compartments, one for small items such as change and a credit card with the main compartment capable of being divided up with a velcro fixed adjustable divider.

I bought my first Topeak fuel bag a year ago but it proved so successful that I decided on a second one for my tourer/gravel bike. Recommended.

Great product and as described. better than other top tube bags Ive used as it has firm flexible side meaning you can cram more in but still sits upright when empty. Very good buying experience

Very useful addition to my bike for long journeys. I prefer not to use a rucksack to carry those extra little bits I need on long journeys, so this top tube Frame bag works really well. Not too bulky and seems to stay in place.

I received it in the indicated time, more or less, nice, it does its job, but if to say that the space to place the smartphone is small, it goes very tight and I am talking about a normal-size device.

This takes my phone, wallet and my car keys and a multi tool. Perfect

This is one of my favourite pieces of MTB kit without a doubt. Holds a heap and the magnet catch means no stuffing around with zips while riding, just get the catch is roughly the right spot and it just snaps in.

I have only had this for a short time. However, it fitted my bike nicely, it is waterproof and it holds all the stuff I used to stuff into the pockets of my jerseys. It’s a welcome change from reaching behind me or stopping and opening my underseat bag.

It’s pretty versatile and I’ve tried strapping it upside down under the top tube successfully. Well worth what it costs.

Very waterproof and robust. A bit smaller than I planned because I did not check the measurements! Woops! I suggest you put electrical tape on the top tube under the pouch because it does move and therefore it will rub.

Bag is too tall and too straight at front edge. Does not fit well against stem. The straps are too long making it hard to get the bag mounted tightly to the frame. The front strap is weirdly placed so it doesn’t wrap around the head tube.

It rides up onto the stem instead and causes the whole thing to tilt back. The design of the top flap is awkward making it hard to use. No cord pass through to run something like a USB cable to your headlight or phone.

Not big enough for iPhone 6S. Topeak really missed the mark on this bag.

Purchased Topeak handlebar bag, is well designed & made. Ideal in size for conveniently carrying a larger sized compact camera etc, in safety. The only negative is that the bag would better benifit from a chucky zip.

Which would probably increase the lifespan of the product.

A very handsome and well designed handlebar bag. Easily attached to the bike on a strong mount. It doubles as a bumbag but that isnt something I need. Small, but fine for a phone, gloves , glasses etc.

Like every Topeka product I have bought, it is quality and functional. Handlebar bracket is easy to mount and is solid. Bag is just the right size for wallet, phone, and other necessities. Has a raincover so nothing gets wet.

Releases from the bike easily at stops and is comfortable to carry. What more could I ask for. Great small bag.

It looks great and the red matches my bike very well. I love the versatility; if you need more space just unzip to expand the main section upwards or unzip one side or both to use the pannier side pouch.

Size-wise I would probably say this is medium. I use the middle for bottles of water & when expanded up it could probably handle 2x one gallon jugs. The sides are good for a rain poncho, light jacket, or sweatshirt for a cool or rainy day.

I only take it for day trips but I’m sure there is enough room to expand for a change of clothes for an overnight but if I were planning a 3-5 day trip I would need something larger. I would expect it to be water resistant but my experience, and my reason for only giving 4 stars, is that my sweatshirt came out feeling damp so I am going to have to buy a can of water resistant fabric protector.

This is a nice insulated tail bag. Good quality zippers and stitching. I am always surprised that I can fit items that seem too large. The bag design is well thought out!

Great bag! Very versatile. Can expand and fold out to saddle bag style. Love it. Like it so much, I bought it for my wife’s bike as well!

The material is of great quality. It is water proof and the color is beaut. It’s wiggling left and right on the ride, especially if your top tube and stem are small. Make sure you strap it really tight to reduce the bag movement.

But if your top tube and stem are wide, then it should be no problem. The zipper is really good, but it’s a bit tough when you pull it up to close the bag. Overall, it’s a very neat and really good bag.

Was a little worried / skeptical ordering from Bikeinn to the UK after Brexit considering how much cheaper everything is, I thought I would be slapped with some unpaid taxes or custom charges to make up for the low prices but this was not the case.

There were no hidden fees. The top tube bags are great, I bought two and run them back to back along my toptube, one towards the handlebar end and the other from the seat end.

I have purchased two of these modular bags to mount them on the handlebar bag. I haven´t used them yet, but its a nice (rather expensive) way to add 1. 4L of extra storage. Water-resistant and quality product.

I also like the fact that you can use it as a saddlebag or even itself somewhere on the frame. I would say that you only need? this if you have the rest of the series.

Intended use for my MTB and had some doubt about the rubber strap to secure with the headset space between top tube and stem as mine is about 20mm. didn’t work for my bike but luckily worked on my wife bike 😅.

Admittedly, the bag is well secured due to strap vs velcro so that’s a benefit though I wish the shorter strap could benefit if it was a bit longer. Material and construction wise seem decent.

I like this bag, cause is perfect to bring my phone (IPhone Xr) plus my wallet, keys, and some cliff, no complicated to install and plus is a waterproof. You won’t regret it.

This bag is really nice! I love that it’s water resistant, and the mounting system using straps is on another level. Fits a phone/wallet/snacks.

Overall not bad quality and no wobbling around while riding. But the size is clearly not as advertised, which was precisely the reason I chose this bag over others. Its smaller than my 1liter bottle and not 1.

So glad I managed to get hold of one of these. It’s a perfect size not to be in the way but I manage to pack in: a phone, car key and garage remote, a packet of tissues and two energy bars. A really nice touch is the very bright lining inside it that makes finding things easy.

Also, totally waterproof, I hosed it down when washing the bike and not a drop seeped in.

Awesome – fitted on my madone top tube (just!) but we’ll waterproof. Easy to use zip. And enough space for all my Ironman snacks

I’ve ridden extensively with the similar product from Revelate, and it is superior in every way. Wanted to love this bag because it looks slick and claims similar qualities to that bag, but this one falls very far short of the mark.

Here’s why: the lid doesn’t stay shut because the weak magnetic closure doesn’t have a hook or lip to prevent any sort of pressure from the contents of the bag from bouncing the pack open. I have 20k miles plus on the Revelate bag and the closure has never popped open or failed in any way.

This bag is ejected my phone and other items in the first week it was installed- mind you on fairly smooth gravel roads. A few bumps and my phone is skidding down the road behind me. Not an isolated incident, multiple times.

Tried all the latch points for the closure and it’s just too feeble for the job. Simple design and manufacturing fix, but customer service folks say there’s nothing wrong with the bag… “it’s been tested by a third party lab” LOL! Save yourself the time and get the Revelate.

This is my first top tube bag. Plus points it’s very light weight and looks great on the bike. Practically it falls short for me I found that it moved slightly from side to side which in turn touched my knees when pedalling and more so when climbing out of the saddle.

I was always having to straighten it up and yes I had it as tight as I could get it. The opening flap magnet needs to be stronger to secure your items. I don’t think it sufficient on anything but smooth tarmac.

I also think it’s over priced for the above reasons. I’d happily pay £25 not the rrp of £50.

Love this top tube bag. The magnetic lid is great whilst riding and super easy to flick open/closed one handed. Very well built. Material inside is soft and furry so not risk of damage to phones etc.

inside the bag. One complaint is that it slightly slips off side to side – could have done with a second front strap to avoid any turning motion. Cheaper than some of the other Apidura products as well, although still a hefty price but you get what you pay for.

Not easy to open on the go, but significantly better than the previous roll-up version. It’s likely due to the over-engineered zipper being a bit more robust than the average water proof-zipper. I dig it.

Looking to match it with the cock-pit bag for that on the go access.

Great product. The only thing I wish it had was a few inside pockets or dividers. It is one large hollow area so small items tend to float around.

Very waterproof. Size is slightly larger than anticipated but can be adapted to the bike.

I needed a top tube bag big enough to take an iPhone 11 Pro and this proved to be a good size for the phone plus gels and bits. It sits well on the top tube and isn’t so wide that it’s annoying. Unfortunately there are no internal pockets and the only divider is a strengthening piece which I can’t use as it would preclude the phone fitting in the bag.

Without the strengthening piece, the weight of the phone does cause it to tilt to the side a bit where it can knock against my knee and the lack of pockets means my consumed gels dribble all over the phone and there’s nowhere to put keys without the risk of them scraping the phone screen.

There is a lot of choice when it comes to a top tube bag. The apidura 1L is one of the most expensive but is very high quality. The removable lining keeps the bags shape when it only contains a few smaller items ensuring it doesn’t flop to one side.

Very functional bag. East to fit on any bike.. I use it for my Brompton and marin both! Only thing I found was the side threads are visible hope it doesn’t wear out as I use it.
