The bike rack for ebikes is a great way to protect your investment and keep your bike safe while you are away from home. There are a few different types of racks that you can choose from, but the most important thing is to make sure that the rack you select is compatible with your specific ebike model.
Many racks are designed to work with a specific type or model of ebike, so it is important to check compatibility before making your purchase.
The most popular type of bike rack for ebikes is the wall-mounted rack. These racks are designed to be mounted to a wall in your garage or home, and they provide a great way to securely store your bike when you are not using it.
Wall-mounted racks typically come with two or three shelves that you can use to store other bike-related items, such as helmets, tools, and spare parts.
Another popular type of bike rack for ebikes is the floor-standing rack. These racks are designed to be placed on the floor of your garage or home, and they provide a great way to keep your bike out of the way when you are not using it.
Floor-standing racks typically come with four or five shelves that you can use to store other bike-related items, such as helmets, tools, and spare parts.
When selecting a bike rack for ebikes, it is important to consider the size and weight of your bike. Some racks are designed for lightweight bikes, while others are designed for heavier bikes. If you have a heavy bike, you will want to make sure that the rack you select can support the weight of your bike.
It is also important to consider the type of riding you do when selecting a bike rack for ebikes. If you only ride your bike on paved surfaces, you will likely be fine with a rack that is designed for paved surfaces.
However, if you ride your bike off-road, you will want to make sure that the rack you select can accommodate the type of terrain you will be riding on.
When it comes to choosing a bike rack for ebikes, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, you need to make sure that the rack you select is compatible with your specific ebike model. Second, you need to consider the size and weight of your bike.
Third, you need to consider the type of riding you do. And fourth, you need to make sure that the rack you select can accommodate the type of terrain you will be riding on.

Yakima fullswing Hitch Bike Rack
Swings away with bikes loaded to provide ultimate access to vehicle.
Forget painstakingly taking your bikes off at every pit-stop just to grab the snack cooler or backpack in the trunk with the Yakima FullSwing. Solving the problem of loading and unloading gear when your bike rack is attached, the FullSwing effortlessly moves out of the way with up to four bikes attached.
Suddenly, road trips and family vacations just became a whole lot easier, especially with the constant demands of loading and unloading gear. Simply loosen the rack’s safety knob, pull the red pin, and rotate the rack away from your vehicle’s rear hatch.
You’re now able to access your vehicle’s gear and luggage, all without the hassle of removing each bike. The FullSwing accommodates up to four bikes, holding up to 150-pounds in weight. Yakima’s ZipStrips securely attach to all types of bikes, ranging from city cruisers to mountain bikes.
The rack’s arms fold down when it’s not in use for easier maneuverability and parking. Tool-free installation attaches to your two-inch receiver hitch without breaking a sweat. Plus, its locking SpeedKnob prevents thieves from stealing this rack from your vehicle while an integrated cable locks bikes to the rack itself for theft deterrent.
The Elevate Outdoor Hitch Platform Rack comes with large, adjustable 5″ wide wheel holder platforms to make it easier than ever to transport your fat tire bike or E-bike to your favorite trail or other location.
The thick powder-coated steel tube design supports up to 200 lbs. total, or two bikes weighing up to 100 lbs. each. The center arm features padded hooks to hold bike frames secure while protecting the finish from damage.
Designed for easier loading and rear access, this rack folds and tilts in several ways. The center post folds down to make it easier to load bikes onto the rack. When not in use, the wheel holder platforms fold up for compact storage in your garage.
Without bikes loaded, the empty rack tilts for access to the rear of the vehicle. With no bikes and the center post folded down, the rack folds up compactly against the vehicle to create a smaller footprint in your garage or parking lot.
This bike rack fits 2″ hitch receivers and comes with a hitch pin.
The Swagman XTC4 is a hitch mount platform bike rack that securely carries one to four bikes. It’s an easy and safe way to take bikes on a family adventure or get your riding crew to the trailhead. The center arms fold down to allow access to the rear of the vehicle and the rack folds up out of the way when not in use.
The adjustable ratchet hooks safely hold the bike frame and the wheel hoops with straps secure the wheels. Fits tires up to 2. 5 wide and wheels from 20 to 29 diameter.
I bought this rack for a 5500 km road trip last summer. The number of times I wanted to break it to bits is harder to count. It certainly put me in a foul mood nearly every time I went crazy trying to put the bikes on or went to take them off only to find yet more paint had been rubbed off the frames by the clamps or a pedal from another bike had maimed its neighbour.
the clamps don’t cut it. The bikes can work their way loose, especially if the crossbar is sloped (like a Kona). Your bike frames will need to be exactly complementary sizes for the clamps to hold them down.
I think I tried every possible way to place 2 adult and 2 child bikes on this rack. Nothing was satisfactory. Eventually I gave up and only placed 3 bikes on. Still not an easy puzzle to solve. I will get rid of this rack as soon as possible and never miss it for a second.
Our bikes will have to live with the damage for much longer. I will be spending the extra money to buy a rack that clamps down onto the tires rather than the frame of the bikes. It will save me time, aggravation, and money in the long run.
The Hollywood Sport Rider for Electric Bikes is a hitch bike rack designed specifically to carry electric bikes with any sized tire up to 5 wide. This bike rack can carry up to 2 electric bikes or standard bikes.

Yakima is renowned for building some of the toughest racks on the market with a plenty of creature comforts to make carrying your gear as convenient as possible. Holding up to this function-driven design ethos, the Yakima HoldUp Evo Hitch Rack uses burly steel trays with folding wheel hoops that withstand thousands of miles on the road, regardless if you’re road tripping to Moab for the weekend or cruising along California’s Highway One.
Best of all, it’s designed to fit nearly any bike wheel or tire size on the marketplace, accommodating those bikes with 20 to 29 inch wheels and tires up to 5 inches wide (fat bikes included ). Yakima’s StrongArm hook secures firmly in place over your wheel and tire, so you won’t have to worry about precious carbon frames coming into contact with the rack itself.
Ratcheting straps loop around your rear wheels to keep the bike strapped down securely on the highway. The rack tilts out of the way with its KickStart foot pedal, so you can access the rear hatch of your vehicle when both bikes are loaded and ready to go.
Also, it folds up against the rear of your vehicle when you’re just driving around town without your bikes in tow. It’s incredibly easy to install with Yakima’s SpeedKnob system, which doesn’t require tools and locks firmly into place for peace of mind.
Yakima includes an SKS locking system with a cable that loops around your frames to deter theft at stops along the way to your riding destination. Moreover, you’ll find it’s available for vehicles with either 1.
We bought this last month to extend our Hold-Up Evo 2 to a 4 bike rack. It was easy to put together and is sturdy. It’s exactly what you expect from Yakima. There is one downfall to this bike rack, the part of the rack that is curved for your rear tire to sit in is held secured to the rack with a plastic plug.
This plug is not secure and one broke after the first use. We recommend getting a metal bolt and nut and securing the attachment that way over the plug. Why Yakima would send a piece of plastic to do a piece of metal’s job, I just don’t know! Other than that, it’s a great rack and will last a long time.
Ordered this hitch rack along with +2 rack on 5/15/20. This rack was available for store pickup, +2 was back-ordered until 6/3. Picked up this rack and upon assembly/installation noticed that a piece was broken.
Contacted Yakima direct as we couldn’t get anyone at our local store (due to Covid unfortunately). After back and forth with Yakima, they agreed to send out the replacement part (which ended up taking several weeks to receive after a few reminders).
The replacement part received was not correct. Went back to the store where REI requested we purchase a new one, then wait for a credit for broken rack. After lots more “back & forth”, they finally ordered the rack on 7/5 for a 7/10 arrival.
On 7/9 I was sent an email stating this product is no longer available. Instead of issuing a credit on my card used to make the original purchase, they issued a store credit. In the meantime, the +2 rack was delivered, which is now worthless as I don’t have the original rack to attach to.
It now means another trip to the store to return +2 rack and to try to get the store credit changed to a return on my credit card. We have wasted assembly time, several trips to the store, lots of phone calls – well over two months time on a product that our family has been unable to use along with the $800+ we’re currently out.
Overall a huge disappointment from Yakima and REI customer service.
PATENTED ANTI-WOBBLE SYSTEM: Mechanism utilizes a system to eliminate slack between the receiver and the rack, keeping your bikes sturdy and safe. *QUICK RELEASE TILT DESIGN: Patented lever used to fold up rack when not carrying bikes and to tilt down the rack for rear cargo access.
*EASY TO ADJUST AND INSTALL: Padded clamps to hold bikes in place and 5″ wide heavy duty wheel holders are all adjustable to fit most bikes. Installation is easy with most parts already pre-assembled.
For 2″ hitches only (Not recommended to use a 1 – 2 hitch adapter). *SAFE, DURABLE and SECURE: Power coated steel tubing will hold bikes up to 60 lbs each. Includes key for locking hitch pin (spare included) and locking knob to secure bikes safely.
Rear reflector included for enhanced visibility. Bikes with low Y-frame may require the use of an Overdrive Bike Frame Adapter for better support.
The Kuat NV Base 2. 0 is engineered to let you bring your adventures on the road. This incredible rack can hold 2 bikes up to 60lbs each. Available both in 1. 25” and 2” hitch sizes, plus the 2” version can hold up to 4 bikes with the NV Base 2.
A great solution for carrying 1-2 bikes with the secure mounting capabilities of a platform style rack. The Swagman XTC2 hitch mounted bike rack comes complete with a 1-1/4″receiver bar and a 2″ adapter plate, allowing it to easily fit most hitches.
The foam padded hooks help protect the bike frame while using an easily adjustable push button ratcheting system to stabilize and secure the bikes into the wheel hoops that accommodate wheels up to 2.
5″ wide. This light weight, easy to assemble system, supports most frame sizes and folds into an upright position when not in use. The XTC2 offers convenience and reliability on rides to the trail or across the country.
Pros: I like the adjustability, the two horizontal bars and the vertical bars have pins that come out – great for storage, and for getting the bike closest to the vehicle off with nothing in the way.
Cons: The bike rack rusts very easily, and the rust quickly spreads underneath the paint. It is obviously cheap metal, with a quick powder – coat paint job. This is Canada, it rains and it snows. This is a bike rack, it goes behind your car, and gets all seasons thrown at it.
Swagman is seemingly a great brand, I would gladly pay $20-$30 more for a product that is galvanized (preferably), or stainless steel (which can still rust, but much more durable). I have to rate this bike rack’s durability as low.
Another small (but annoying) con: I have a fat bike and bought the appropriate adapters (which are rusting after only one day’s use). In order to remove the summer holders and install the fat bike ones, you need to remove a screw from the end of each support, which is solely there to hold in the plastic end cap.
Overall good bike rack that can use one major improvement, and one minor improvement. Step it up Swagman!.

From traveling to Napa for idyllic vineyard rides to Sedona’s high-desert singletrack, the Yakima HoldUp 2in Bike Rack is an invaluable companion for carrying road and mountain bikes to your favorite cycling destinations.

As a cool bonus for family vacations and road trips with friends, Yakima offers a HoldUp +2 attachment (sold separately) that expands its carrying capacity to four bikes in total.
StrongArms firmly attach to your bikes’ wheels, securing those with wheel sizes ranging from 20 to 29-inches in diameter. This design safely accommodates a wide variety of bikes, ranging from carbon-frame road bikes to full-suspension mountain bikes equipped with 2.
5-inch tires. Side-to-side adjustments space out bikes for an ideal fit without rubbing. Plus, it tilts down when loaded with bikes, allowing you to access your vehicle’s trunk or rear hatch. And to deter theft, the HoldUp 2in features Yakima’s SKS locks for securing both the rack itself and attached bikes.
It’s not often a bike rack is Approved for use on the back of an RV trailer yet comes with everyday functionality when used on a passenger vehicle. The Swagman E-Spec is capable of carrying 2 bikes with a weight capacity of 70lbs each anywhere you need to adventure.
Locking hooks and locking pin are included to keep your prized possessions safer. The rack folds up for storage when used on a passenger vehicle. Available fat trays make the rack able to carry up to 5″ wide tires.
For bike racks, our situation is a tough one – we have a 5th wheel trailer and an e-bike, 64 lbs. for the latter. That disqualifies 95% of racks out there, due to the weight, stress and movement/energy transfer to the rear of the trailer.
Our Facebook group for Grand Design RV’s pointed us to Swagman for RV racks. A quick look at their website convinced us that their recommendations were spot on! The construction and materials are superb! All powder-coated steel or polymer, and fitment is precise.
The bikes load up nicely, since the center post folds down to allow loading the first bike (closest to the RV), and the padded bars lock down securely for stability and prevent theft. It’s worth every penny of this investment.
Bought this much more beefy rack when we bought two 49 pound (each) e bikes. Had never heard of Swagman, but based on appearance and excellent customer ratings/reviews, bought it. Instructions are not great as they contradict illustrations, so be sure to look closely at both.
Otherwise, not difficult to assemble. Nice attachment system to trailer hitch in that there is a screw in pin, that keeps rack from vibrating or shifting. Tie down system is solid feeling and bikes did not move.
Also used on my much lighter Gian hybrid bike and worked perfect. Inverted “U”, shaped locking brackets work well. Use a heavier lock if leaving bikes unattended or overnight as a good criminal could break them, but solid for holding in place while driving or leaving in a very visible area.
I put the shorter locking bracket below the longer one to secure my wives step through frame and it worked fine and I used the other longer one to secure my traditional frame. Flat black powder coat finish looks and feels pretty hearty.
We have a Batch step over and a Electra/Townie step thru. The rack’s short clamp arm forces the step thru be shifted to one side, unless you are willing to clamp the low horizontal bar. That would have meant more upper unrestricted weight motions.
So we have to shift the Batch in the opposite direction to balance the weight. This will limit the bikes twisting the rack back and forth. A little trial and error. And the Electra has a chain guard which we place facing away from the center bar of the rack.
Fortunately the Swagman works so well as to make balancing easy. This is a really nice bike rack. We do use one bungee cord to hold the bikes together at the top.

The Rocky Mounts Monorail Hitch 1 Bike Car Rack is the most versatile rack in the rocky mounts range. It can handle everything from road bikes to fat tyre e-bikes. Built to carry 1 bike with a maximum weight of 27.
1kg, this rack has no contact with the frames as it secures the bike by the wheel. It can handle wheels from 20″ up to 29″ and fits 2″ hitches. The Monorail folds flat against the vehicle, and tilts down 30 degrees to allow for hatch access which is a very handy feature.
It also includes locking hitch pin, cable lock, and standard lock pods, keyed alike.
You can forget about painstakingly loading your bike in the rear hatch when you outfit your vehicle with the RockyMounts MonoRail Platform Hitch Rack. This two-bike carrier conveniently mounts to either 1.
25- or 2-inch receiver hitches, giving you the ability to mount it to your smaller car or large truck. For greater capacity on downhill shuttles and family outings, the 2-inch receiver version gives you the option for carrying a third bike with the MonoRail Single Bike Add-On (sold separately).
The sturdy platform design carries up to 120 pounds of total weight, which is considerably more than many hitch-mounted racks in this category. It accommodates bikes with 20 to 29-inch wheels, with tires up to a gargantuan 5-inch width.
This gives you the ability to quickly and easily transport bikes ranging from your favorite road bikes to full-suspension mountain bikes, and even the biggest of fat tire bruisers. The adjustable front wheel clamp eliminates the need for frame contact, which is a major plus for riders with carbon frames and sensitive paint jobs.
Three inches of side-to-side adjustment gives you ample room to space out bikes, without them contacting each other at highway speeds.
The MonoRail is a solid, capable rack but has a major design flaw: it is incompatible with Subaru Foresters. After a short 2 hour road trip, I was shocked to find that the front bike cup melted (see picture).
Upon contacting RockyMounts for support, they referred me to a warning in small print buried in their user manual that states to “check the car exhaust is not pointing at the rack, bike tires, or rims” and said this damage would not be under warranty.
Of course, one only knows about the user manual if you purchase the rack; it is not posted on the REI website. RockMounts then offered to sell me a $60 hitch extender to push the rack farther away from the car and alternatively suggested I could modify my exhaust.
A hitch extender solution is frustrating because (a) the exhaust would still be pointing at the rack, just from father away so still violating the very warning they referred me to, (b) it’s a terrible engineering solution, as extending away from the car significantly increase the torque on the rack, decreasing the weight limit, and (c) it’s a frustrating feeling to be told to buy a $60 part on a $540 rack.
That’s terrible support. I appreciate that I purchased this rack at REI and so was able to return with little hassle. However, I am very frustrated at RockyMounts and REI for not specifically stating in the product description that this rack is incompatible with Subaru Foresters unless one purchases additional hitch extender accessories (only sold on RockMounts.
com, not REI!) or modifies ones car. The incompatibility should be stated clearly for customers to know to avoid this rack if they own a Forester.
I really love this rack! The ease of use and the simplicity of mounting and dismounting a bike is so good. The rack holds bikes very securely and provides room for two bikes to easily fit side by side.
The wheel tray adjusts to allow a large mountian bike or a skinny wheeled road bike to fit comforably on the rack. I like the simple, yet secure locking system. Easy to secure my bikes when I walk away.
I also like the tilt away feature which allows me to keep the bikes on the rack and still have access to the vehicles hatch. Love, love this rack!!!.

The rack comes sized for 2 and 1-1/4-inch trailer hitches, and you can secure the rack to the hitch receiver with the STL2 lock. Your bike is safe and secure to the rack with the integrated cable lock, so you can grab a post-ride burrito with the crew.

Simply turn the key and press a button, and the Door County platform hitch rack effortlessly lifts eBikes into the transport position, and back down again. And when you’re on the road, the Door County keeps the electric vibe going with glowing tail lights, including running, brake and turn signals.
You’ve seen it before, the guy that doesn’t write reviews! That’s me…. This is the exception, and it’s because I’m impressed. I’ve only had this unit a week, used it on local roads and now on the interstate.
Setup initially was easy and use is a little timely but worth it for the security of expense bikes. We are transporting an Ebike and a standard stepthru and hookup works just fine. The rack itself is heavy, but with the use of the attached wheels moving it about the garage to the rear of the vehicle is a breeze.
(Included is a nice cover for storage. ) Plug in the unit before attempting to place it into the hitch and raise or lower the receiver so they align allows easy installation of the rack onto the vehicle.
Beware this is a 7 pin connector to accommodate lighting and power! The rear lighting package is an added safety feature with the extended mass of today’s Ebikes. Note, this rack accommodates tires only up to 3 inches.
Why lift those 50 lbs. + bikes? Save your back and the energy for the ride!.
I picked up my bike rack and asked if it would be difficult to attach to my car. ‘Oh no, not at all – it only takes a few minutes. ‘ In that case, I said, can you please put it on my car for me? ‘no, for that you need an appointment.
‘ But I came specifically from Carpinteria to pick this up. ‘Well, sorry!’ It was an older gentleman and I believe his name was John. He seemed to know everything and was teaching the nice employee how to look up packages, etc.
This was such a disappointment to me. I absolutely love REI and consider myself a very good customer. The rack is still sitting in the garage and I haven’ opened the box yet.
We used the Door County once so far, and the product is really good. However, be aware that using on a Ford F-150 requires 2 people due to a Ford safety feature which requires a driver in the vehicle having a foot on the brake while a second person operates the control key when the Saris is connected to the hitch.
While this isn’t Saris’s fault, it would have been good to know ahead of time. We thought there was something wrong when the controls would not work! I am also contacting Ford about the issue as I feel there should be a way to override the feature when using a bike rack.
All in all, it works well, bikes were secure. We have a Townie Go e-bike and a regular Townie. Happy with purchase overall.
Bike racks for ebikes are a great way to store your bike and keep it safe. They are also a great way to keep your bike from being stolen. There are many different types of bike racks for ebikes, so you will need to choose the one that best fits your needs.
