20 Best Weight Gain Supplement For Dogs (2023 Updated)

This product was great at first. My fur-babies loved the taste. I used it temporarily early in their pregnancy as “morning sickness” has the girls with a low appetite. I made sure to not “over feed” the liquid calorie and only gave 1/3 of the recommended daily dosage.

I suddenly noticed that their were cleft palate babies being born in each puppy litter. It did NOT make sense!!! At first- I thought it was a “one off” thing. But then I noticed every litter having 1 baby born with a cleft palate! It mentally exhausted me and I could not understand why this could suddenly be happening.

I read up on a lot of possibilities. one of them being its genetic. the other offering excessive vitamin A and Vitamin D. or environmental. It was beyond me that I never had issues with cleft palate babies before.

Nothing else had changed- same dam and stud were used before (with no clefts), nothing in their environment changed. then later AGAIN a cleft in other litters. I drove me insane. with a subsequent litters after my experienced with the cleft palates- I changed two things: 1) adding 5mg of folic acid to their prenatal vitamins.

2) removed the Miracle Vet high Cal for completely in one of the girls and not the other. The girl with the Miracle Vet had a puppy with a cleft palate in her litter. Apparently this product has way more vitamin A and Vitamin D that a pregnant mother should NOT have.

Too much vitamin A and Vitamin D. Call it coincidence- who knows! The vets/chemists should really be looking into this! They should not be stating it is safe for all dogs. including pregnant mothers- if it in fact is NOT! I feel like I learned the hard way.

And I will be removing this product from my shelves. Unfortunately, I have 8 brand new bottles that I will not be using and I lost a few beautiful lives to this!!.

This is helping my senior cat who is on chemotherapy recover from cancer. He lost a lot of weight due to the cancer, and being a cat, he is of course a super picky eater. He LOVES Miracle Vet! I place it on top of a small amount of wet food and he eats it all immediately.

As a cat dad who has had a lot of special needs cats over the years, I have gone through a lot of products. Miracle Vet is the real deal and one of few I would recommend to others. Only criticism I have is the new packaging: it comes in a bag instead of a bottle.

The bag is pretty sturdy, but I would prefer a bottle, which would make it easier to extract small amounts.

I bought a bottle of this stuff back in June. It helped my cat and it was a great way to get him to take his meds. Upon receiving a new bottle I noticed a significantly lighter color. One of the reps sent a new bottle thinking as he stated I might have gotten a “bad batch.

” New bottle was the same and smelled much stronger. Both the second purchase and replacement have the SAME BATCH NUMBER. So why would they send bottles from the same batch if it might have been the problem? My cat will not touch either of the last bottles.

I asked for a refund, and after NINE EMAILS in which I answered several of questions and directly asking them for a refund or if they could send a bottle from the original batch I provided, the rep, Nate, STILL did not address the refund, OR if they could send a bottle from the old batch.

He just reiterated the formula was the same. I understand the formula is the same, but as their bottles show what I received the first time is from a different batch. AND AGAIN, if it could be a bad batch why send me a replacement from the same one???? It’s bad that I have provided comparison photos, pics of the old and new bottles, and they give me the run around, nine emails and a week later.

That is not good customer service at all.

Our 16 year old Chiweenie has been sick for fourteen months. My husband and I discussed euthanasia with our vet. Magster had stopped eating. As a last resort we discussed Magster’s condition with our groomer.

We have a 3 year old lab with MegaEsophagus which is an awful condition where the esophagus warps and the muscles change/stop working, so good it’s hard for food to get to the stomach. While we were getting diagnosed, Cooper lost 9 pounds in a week due to not being able to get food down.

This Dyne helped him gain that back in 2 weeks and now we use it to help maintain his weight, especially since we need to keep his meals smaller and allow extra calories in there in case some food comes back up.

This MegaFlex works really well for my older, Boxer Mix who has a shoulder injury and as such less active and a little overweight.

He’s been on it a few weeks now (I waited a bit to write the review) and so far his stomach/intestines have not gurgled once and there has been no mucous in his stool. He’s only on 1/2 dose as we have to take things slow due to his condition.

I bought this for my Extremely picky Boston terrier. That I have to constantly tell to go to her bowl and eat her food. The first time I used this she sniffed her food like usual tasted it and devoured it and every night I used it was the same, until it ran out.

If it gets her to eat without taking like a crazy man dogs are starving in the world eat all your food, then it works great.

PetAg high calorie gel is a good source of additional calories for my 16 year old shepherd mix – she is extremely picky and thin. Giving her this product is very easy to administer and gives her the extra calories she needs.

This has been a “go to” supplement for our 15 year old poodle. It is easy to dispense from a spoon to his mouth. It sticks to his palate so he can savor it then lick the spoon. Next subscription I’ll get more.

This gel has literally saved my dog’s life. After two years of vomiting and diarrhea we did an endoscopy and found he has IBD. Even on prednisone and prescription diet, he would still get reflux, eat grass, vomit on occasion and not want to eat.

After experimenting on my own, I realized he cannot process animal protein. Took him off of capsules made of gelatin, prescription food made with animal protein and flavored heart worm. We use the Nutri-cal to cover his supplements and medication and when he doesn’t eat enough, he sucks this right out of the tube.

I think it feels better on his throat. He also gets a vegetarian diet and I was able to take him off of prednisone and anti vomiting meds. He likes the taste and would rather eat this than his food. It actually stimulates my dog’s appetite! If your dog is willing to take it from a spoon, that’s a great way to deliver it. You can also squeeze dabs of it onto your finger tip (for a small dog) and feed that way.

It’s rather thick — almost the consistency of honey — so another alternative is to liquefy it with just a little water, and deliver it with an eye dropper. Have a wet cloth nearby to wipe your dog’s face/mouth, the tube, and your hands.

My dog is 12 years old and we recently discovered that she has a bad tooth. It is apparently causing her excessive pain (we do have an appointment set to remove it), and she started refusing foods she normally obsesses over about 2 weeks ago.

My Husky loves the taste of Nupro just sprinkled over his dry kibble or mixed with a little water and stirred into the kibble. He is on a RX for kidney disease and I used to mix the kibble with canned RX food to get him to eat it.

The can food is expensive too! Now I don’t have to use the can food. Nupro is not cheap, but easy to feed. He’s only ben on it for 1 week, so I can’t tell how well it is relieving his arthritis ( he’s 12 ) as he’s also on meds for that too.

It was hard to get the scoop out, as it was so far down in the 5 lb. plastic can!!!! How about putting it on the top of the powder???.

I have such a great experience with this product for both my dog and my cat. When I had my dog for 16 years I gave her Nupro gold and then the Nupro Silver when she got older. The difference it made in her coat and joint health was noticeable within a week, and I truly believed it prolonged her quality of life.

So of course when I got my cat (he’s a 6 1/2 year old Maine Coon mix) I started him on the Nupro cat. His coat looks so luxurious; it’s shiny and feels so soft and silky. His poop is also less stinky! He usually eats the pellets as a treat between meals, but if he doesn’t finish his daily dose I just grind it up with the bottom of a spoon and mix it into his wet cat food and he eats it with no problems.

I have recommended this supplement to all my friends who own dogs and cats.

I have 6 small breed rescued dogs that are all seniors. I’ve been using this for all, except one dog for many years. One of my dogs has a very sensitive stomach and can’t use this supplement (I believe it’s a beef and/or liver sensitivity), but the other dogs have no problem at all.

They like the taste and most importantly it really helps! All of my dogs being seniors, 9yrs up to 18yrs (yep, 18 yrs old) have joint issues from age and this really seems to help with joint pain and even joint popping/cracking.

They seem to be able to play more on this supplement too! If I ever run out, I noticed their joints popping more often and after only a couple days of using this product I notice a big difference. I haven’t used this for larger breeds or younger adult dogs, but I imagine it would be great for them too, especially with all the joint issues that come with larger breeds.

FYI, ALL the supplement sizes are the same product but with different sized scoops and dosage instructions based on the scoop size. I believe all the jars except the smallest size come with a larger scoop (supposedly 1oz, but seems to be more IMO) and the dosage instructions are based on the included scoop.

So, if you’re like me and buy a large sized jar for multiple smaller dogs, make sure to check the dosage instructions on the small size jar accurate instructions. Or maybe just contact the company for more accurate dosage instructions.

Also, I’ve had success starting with less than instructed and slowly adding as needed to prevent upset tummies from the diet change.

As the title states, it does what it advertises. Thor started on Bully Max when he was 8 months old. Thor is not quite 10 months now, but there is a difference in his appearance and definitely his stamina.

Thor is an Olde English Bulldogge and if you know Bulldogs, they aren’t the springy nor the wild one in the bunch. Thor’s routine was sleeping over 12 hours a day. After a week on Bully Max, his routine begin to change.

Not sleeping as much, becoming more active, becoming stronger and agile. There are two cons to this product. 1) Thor does not know his own strength. Thor weighs just less than 50 pounds, but one would think he weighs double that when you play with him (tug of war, one vs one, etc.

) and/or when walking him. And 2) Unfortunately, Thor does not like the taste, so I have to crush it and put it in his meal (more work for me. LOL).

This has been a unique terrible experience. I thought that signing up for a subscription would be a quick and cost saving experience but no I was wrong. $26 for 2 day shipping that is not at all 2 days.

I placed an order for kibbles Wednesday evening. The item was shipped Thursday but I won’t be receiving it until next Thursday. It sucks because this was a $98 purchase and my dog will be out of food for an entire week.

I’ll be working on changing his food during this next batch because wow. My dog would be forced to eat boiled chicken and rice which is time consuming and don’t have all the proper nutrients for an entire week.

The food itself is just ok. The shipping is a terrible lie. Canceling the subscription is easy which is why they get a 1 star. I will be switching to Victors atleast there is a store here in LA where I can actually go in and buy it.

I LOVE this stuff. I couldn’t afford to keep up with Bullymax amazing food, but it made such a difference with my dog. This stuff has brought my dogs skin and fur back to life! She used to be thin and no food we would give her mad a difference.

4-6 cups a day and she still looked skin and bones. Her fur was thin and coarse, she had spots she would lick and not stop, and the way she used to eat so fast was alarming. Long story short, we ended up finding this and for the last three months she’s been eating this, she’s been a normal dog again.

She seems so much healthier and happier with just this product combined with her food. Her appetite isn’t always there, after she eats she’s actually full now. Her skin and fur feels soft and full again.

I think this stuff might have saved my dogs life.

The foster dog that I took in on November 14 is a 9 month old pittie who weighed only 27 lbs due to a horrible living situation. I ordered the Weight Gain and recieved it on the 24th of November. As of December 4th, he already weighed 40 lbs and is filling out nicely.

He has more chest muscle mass and there’s no longer any ribs or bones showing. he’s actually gaining muscle with the help of the Weight Gain and excercise. This little guy has come a long way in a short time and I’m so appreciative of this product.

The review is low not because of the product but because of packaging and customer service. I am a bully breeder and I spend a lot of money with bullymax using the product for all the dogs. Package exploded or was damaged in shipment, things happen.

I sent an email. They asked for a picture. I had cleaned it up already and didn’t have one but lost an entire container of it. Nobody responded. I got my shipment this month and the same thing happened.

The product is great but the packaging and shipment needs to be reviewed. I also don’t appreciate the lack of communication and I was almost treated like I was lying the first time with no response at all.

I know things happen but when you’re using a company so regularly you expect issues to be handled accordingly. I got my picture taken this time 😂 it wasn’t as bad as the first one but beware that if it does explode and you lose all your product.

My cat was hospitalized for digestive issues that were causing weight loss, and unfortunately as she was recovering she developed a cold she must have picked up at the vet. Shortly after gaining her appetite back, her cold got worse and she refused food again.

She was picky with syringe feeding, but she did let me give her this. I squeezed the appropriate serving size into a small bowl and added a small amount of hot water. Then I used the syringe to whisk it up so it turned to liquid, and administered it via syringe that way.

She is just starting to get her appetite back and I plan to continue supplementing her food with it to get her weight back up, as well as have a backup on hand should she lose appetite again. Fingers crossed she keeps letting me give this to her, hopefully she will be okay with it mixed in her food soon.

Gave four stars out of five only because I’ve only used this for a few days now and am waiting to see full results.

I bought this after rescuing a stray neighboorhood kitten who has feline leukemia. It’s only been one week since this boy came to us and he is happy to eat the salmon flavor and although doesn’t eat very much at all due to his sickness he eats this on top of his wet food which is is also super picky and finicky about.

I am happy to feed this to him knowing his little belly is growing and he’s getting the nutrients he needs being so frail and unwilling to eat. He has had more energy and more appetite feeding him this paste and it only being a week I can see the benefits it’s giving him already.

He’s having more healthy bowel movements and like I said has more of an appetite so that’s amazing. Thank you for the product as this is my boyfriend and is first cat alone and it so happens to be a sick stray.

It truly has helped this small kitten a lot and I will leave another review if he continues onto this path thank you so much again!.

I’ve been using Tomlyn Hairball remedy (laxitone) for the last 6 months. It works like a champ and my cat loves the Tuna favor (it’s like “Kitty Cat Crack”). My cat’s 14 and his molars are going bad.

The vet recommended Tomlyn Nutri-cal for a nutrition supplement and weight gain to replace his kibble. So I bought a tube. Unfortunately, all I could find was the Malt flavor. Even more unfortunate, the cat won’t get near it.

It’s like a cross to a vampire. I’ve tried a few different ways to get him to try it but it aint happenin. So, I have to leave a single star rating – for MY cat. Who knows, maybe yours will like it. Just don’t be surprised if it runs away.

As far as my recommendation goes, I can only choose yes or no. To be sure, when I talk about it, I’ll tell it like I told it above. That will make it a qualified no. So the recommendation will be more neutral than anything else.

My one Rottweiler is entirely addicted to bully max and we had to buy him a slow feeder to get him to eat properly, my other rottie has never been like that but he seems to really be gaining some muscle, he’s only 6 months and he’s around 60-70lbs 💕.

It works really well with our half raw diet and our supplements off of bully max and other types of natural stuff we use. We highly recommend it.

We never had a problem with the 2 in 1. We only got about 30 whole pieces out of the 75 chews. The rest was chinch’s and powder. The best by date was 8/23 but they were really hard. That could explain the powder.

The whole pieces would just break apart if you would grab one. A bag for 48 dollars and not even get to use half of it is sad.

I was super skeptical about buying this, as all too often I find these things simply don’t work. However!! This has been a fantastic addition to my dog cupboard!My boy us super super fussy, so much so he won’t even eat the powder on top of his dinner.

However, he’s quite used to taking medications and liquids via syringe, so I’ve utilised this and been able to give him the supplement as a sort of paste. The difference was almost instant! Within 48hours I could already see the difference in him.

I bought this product for my underweight, elderly greyhound on the recommendation of a vet and purchased it twice. I very rarely write reviews but I wanted to explain my experience to potentially save you some money, as this stuff isn’t cheap.

+ My dog loved the taste of this. He never struggled with eating anyway but he really enjoyed this so it may be tempting for a more reluctant eater. + The powder was easy to use and didn’t smell unpleasant.

+ The powder didn’t upset his stomach. and literally everything upsets his stomach. – This alone put no weight on my dog, even after two bags. While it made him want to eat his food maybe more than he would have if he were fussier, it did nothing else.

What did I do? I spent my next £30 on a bag of Arden Grange kibble and just fed him more. Yes, it upset his stomach more than this powder did but I got 6kg for half of the price and he actually put weight on from eating more.

I was really hoping that this would help but, sadly, it did nothing for my dog. If your dog is fussy or picky and that’s why they’re underweight, I’d recommend it but I wouldn’t otherwise.

I have been blown away by this product. We have now used it in every meal for a month. After finding out our dog has Megaesophagus we had to change his diet. We now make ‘homemade style meatballs’ and adding this stuff in has made him go from 7kg to now 9kg in a month.

His condition made him drastically lose weight to the point he was so boney and we could see his rib cage/ spine from a mile away and he wouldn’t even lay comfortably. VERY VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT! My Zeus was 11 days old when we first got him, his eyes weren’t open and he was still dragging himself because he couldn’t even walk yet! He had diarrhea and I couldn’t get rid of it, friends had ordered Bully Max for their Doberman so I went to the site to look at it all! I ordered the miracle vet liquid to start him on to help with weight gain! I took him to the vet when he was 18 days old to find out he had coccidia and hook worms! I had taken every thing with me that I was feeding him along with the wormer i has given him and the miracle vet! She of course gave him meds and a probiotic for the issues he had that she said he had probably gotten from the mothers milk and told me to continue with what I was giving him! The miracle vet was a true life saver and gave him all the nutrients he needed aside from his milk replacement that he needed to keep him healthy and help to make him stronger! He had his ears clipped when he was 2 months old and being it was something that I was worried would disturb his eating and normal routine I ordered the miracle vet chews and continued giving him them! He loves them and they have been amazing! He never skipped a beat and continued growing! When he went back to get his stitches out 2 wks later he had gained another 6 lbs! Our beloved 15 year old pitty struggles with multiple aging issues, and is treated with long term steroids along with other meds and supplements. One of the side effects of the steroids is that it breaks down muscle tissue.

Over time he has just gotten thinner and thinner, and his appetite less and less. He started a downward spiral where he was basically wasting away, leaving him with less and less energy. We started him on these weight gain treats about 6 weeks ago, and they turned things around! He’s not gaining a bunch of weight, but his weight is maintaining, his appetite is much better, and his mood and activity level are greatly improved.

Only while getting these treats, though. We stopped the treats for a few days when we ran out, and the loss of appetite and weight loss returned. Once the treats were resumed he bounced back. We use them now as a part of his daily supplement routine.

Wasn’t as advertised. Recently I quit using this product, due to me not getting what I ordered. They switch labels on me, a d I do not recommend it to anyone.

I have a finicky senior cat. She seemed to be losing weight, so I got this for her. She doesn’t seem to care for the taste, but she doesn’t despise it. It’s the perfect consistency- it’s very easy to give her (I just wipe it off my finger, near the corner of her mouth and she licks it off, looking unpleased, but at least it works!).

It sticks perfectly on her mouth because of the way that it is. I took her into the vet recently and she ended up on a temporary oral medication. Giving her pills has always been very difficult because I know she can taste it, and fights it- but I found a way to easily give her a pill (by mixing a crushed pill, this vitamin paste, puree cat treat, and water) with a children’s medicine syringe.

She doesn’t seem to mind the taste at all. I’m super glad to have this for exactly that purpose- it seems to cover up the taste of medicine.

This stuff is okay, my 8 week old kitten who only weighs 1 pound seems to like it, but I don’t know how the heck I’m supposed to measure this out. It is way too hard to measure, for those of us who have a pet that weighs less than 10 pounds.

I mean, how do you measure 1 1/2 teaspoon divided by 10? I’ve figured out that it equals approximately less than 1/4 teaspoon, but more than 1/8 teaspoon, but even when you figure that out, how are you supposed to dose it correctly? Measuring spoons wouldn’t work cause that’s not very accurate, and you can’t use syringes or droppers, cause this stuff is so thick and gooey, good luck with that, it’s impossible.

Trust me, I’ve tried. There needs to be some sort of measuring chart on the tube for pets who weigh less than 10 lbs. And a dosing cup with the tube. Way too difficult.

This stuff is ideal for older cats, kittens, recovering from illness, surgery, frail cats, loss of appetite due to medication adjustment period, age, illness. Cats love the flavor. For all the people saying it stinks or whatever.

Well its not palatable for you LOL! This is for a feline!!! It really smells like vitamins chicken and cod liver tinge to it! But if they love it and it helps them, by all means cover thy nostrils! Loll! I love the consistancy.

A ribbon of this on a plate is interesting to see cats lap up. Its like watching them eat ribbon candy. *************!!!!!!!!It is important to be consistant with this to see a result!!! I have tried other brands and wasnt a hit.

I have only heard about others using this product but my son had never had to hold a pig until this year! We held my sons purebred Yorkshire for about 2 months with powerfill and it did not disappoint! It held him, kept him full, and most importantly kept his frame and muscle shape! I bought this for my 14 yr old dog who has stopped eating most things and has lost almost 20% of her body weight, in hopes that she would eat it and that it would stimulate her appetite to eat other things.

Unfortunately, she will not eat it. The purchase was a total waste of money.
