20 Best Weight Bench For Tall Person (2023 Updated)

OK when my FLYBIRD BENCH ARRIVED I loved that it arrived on time within 4 days of online purchase. Now when I unboxed it I was not pleased with the one sheet picture manual with no written instructions.

So I went to YouTube and watched ASSEMBLY VIDEOS and then I GOT MAD, because the YOUTUBE UNBOXING VIDEOS. All the video creators had a FAR MORE SUPERIOR LOOKING product with real Manuals, and professional packaging and Bench pins with smooth rubber pull tips.

My FLYBIRD when UNBOXED was packed in a plastic bag, no transport safety straps, a ONE SHEET PICTURE GUIDE, NO WORDS, BENCH PINS WITH PULL RINGS, AND NO CARRYING STRAP AS ADVERTISED. Now I came to my senses and I told myself we have been in a PANDEMIC for almost 3 years so STOP BEING A BEE and try it out.

So after putting it together and sitting on it I WAS AMAZED iam 5’11 300 LBS and iam COMFORTABLE sitting on it. And after a full workout on it iam glad I purchased it. The PLANET FITNESS I go to the cable and free weight section is always crowded, so when iam there iam stuck using machine weights.

SO LONG STORY SHORT, if the bench you ordered looks a little awkward, and doesn’t match any videos you see from the main company or YouTube. YOU STILL WILL GET YOUR MONEY WORTH.

I recently bought this bench and was a little concerned about the padding before receiving it. The description says it has soft padding. That concerned me as I tend to be a heavy lifter and have fairly wide shoulders/back.

I have found softly padded benches (especially narrower ones) often dig into my back at the edges when doing heavier bench presses. I’m happy to report I do not have any issues with this bench! I thought I’d mention this as I haven’t seen any other reviewers mention this.

I am very much satisfied with this bench and it’s flexibility and stow-ability. Incline, decline, flat, etc are all comfortable and it’s quick to adjust. Folding it up for storage also only takes a second.

It’s also fairly light (25-30 lbs), yet plenty robust enough for my heavy dumbbell workouts at home when I don’t feel like going to the gym. The bench is basically fully assembled as shipped, just the leg support needs to be easily ******* on (I have left mine off).

It was refreshing not needing to assemble something like this. The only downside I see to this bench is the pricing seems to have drifted upwards since COVID has clearly increased demand. It’s still a good buy at the elevated pricing though.

I bought this bench because it was highly reviewed. And it deserves the reviews that it has been given. Stuck at home due to pandemic, I was in desperate need of workouts. Given that I live in an apartment, I cannot afford to have a lot of equipment.

Having procured a couple of dumbbells with huge difficulty, I finally decided to go for this bench to help me keep up with at least a few dumbbell based exercises. I must say in the last few days of usage, I am quite happy with the bench.

I was surprised by how light it was. It came pretty much all assembled with only a couple of keys that need to be inserted/ tightened. Within a couple of minutes this was all setup and ready. I am also happy with how stable this bench is.

It has no creaking/ moving parts that will mess up with your workout. Also, unlike a few other benches, this allows for decline position too which is a huge plus if you want to workout lower chest. Overall, highly recommended for setting up a small home gym for basic workouts.

Basically ready to use out of the box, just need to stick a of couple pins in and it’s ready to go. As a much shorter guy I looked tirelessly for a bench that checked all the boxes; lower height from the ground, max weight capacity, adjustable for incline and decline, foldable and easy to stow away, and of course good reviews.

Having the lower height from the floor really makes a huge difference for me, unlike most benches in box gyms this one allows me to have my feet flat on the floor when flat and incline pressing. Decline is difficult as others have mentioned due to the really small and narrow width leg supports.

Great incline levels for chest and shoulder press. Overall this bench met most of my criteria. It feels sturdy and supportive but yes, meant for people 5’9″ish and below. Even for me with a longer torso, on incline my head is halfway on but it’s enough.

I checked out the other flybird benches and they were just too high off the ground or saw some not so good reviews. Glad they came out with this new one around the same time I was building my home gym.

Ordered this direct from the flybird website as it was unavailable here at the time. Took 2 weeks just to get a tracking # and customer service is pretty much non-existent via email. Time will tell on durability as it is not very heavy duty compared to most others I’ve seen but overall happy with it and does add value to my home gym.

I am high risk for Covid, so I have been away from the gym for over a year. I was falling apart physically and needed weight training. I also do not have room for a weight bench, let along a weight training center.

So when I was excited to discover adjustable benches that fold up for storage. Coupled with some dumb bells I had room and thus hope. The reason I bought the Flybird, after reading many reviews and watching countless videos, was that the description of the product was well done and I understood what I was getting for the money.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the beautiful people using the product but it was the detailed information provided that sold me. The Flybird Adjustable Bench arrived ahead of schedule. It was well packaged.

Easy to assemble. At first I was concerned since it seemed so light weight to handle. I am a 230 pounds at 5’10” and find it sturdy and stable stable. Additionally it is easy to set-up, take down and it stores compactly.

It has only been two weeks of weight training and I am feeling much better and love my easy to live with bench.

Product clearly looked returned before it was shipped to me by the way the box was taped and items inside were not all in original packing. Pins were already in bench in wrong places except for one floating freely in box.

Feet were in a Ziploc bag. One piece of foam board was in base of box. Loose, opened plastic bag over product but foam roller piece was outside the plastic. Box and bench smells heavily of mildew. Easy to put together but product seat is uncomfortable.

Fabric is loose. In spite of all of this, folded up it saves space in my office and is still usable. If I had read the manual’s back page before buying it where it warns to “Please keep children and old people away from this product,” I would’ve heeded the warning because I’m an old person.

I miss my old Weider bench which this replaced. UPDATE: Even though I didn’t keep the bench, customer service was professional, responsive, and considerate.

I purchased this bench about 3 years ago and use it regularly. It was my first bench purchase. It’s sturdy enough, but you definitely need to be careful that everything latches prior to using it, otherwise it’ll collapse.

It has a 300# weight limit. I weigh 220# and don’t have any issues or lack of confidence in it’s ability to support me while working out. The biggest issue I have is with the seams down the middle. The seams grab my back and leave lined bruises if all I have on is a Tshirt.

Either extra clothing or a towel solves the problem.

I absolutely hate putting things together but it didn’t take me long to assemble. For the most part the instructions were clear. I appreciated the fact that all of the screws, bolts, etc we clearly marked and took guess work out of the equation.

I used the bench a few times this week and it is very comfortable. I recommend this product.

The bench was easy to assemble. It is a jack of all trade bench. I like dumbbell exercises and abdominal crunches. So it fits my perceived needs. Seems to be well made. So should last. For serious weight lifters look else where for pro type of gear.

It’s a very narrow bench set up. When you lay down you have to squeeze side to side. Keep in mind this is a very beginner bench with capability of holding 1 inch plates NOT 2 inch plates. It serves its purpose during this lockdown period.

But I would not recommend this if your looking to have serious workouts.

I am 5 7 and this works great. It performs just as I envisioned. Horrible instructions, but I have put a few different machines together so it took about an hour by just looking at the picture. If you are challenged in that area, then don’t attempt it.

Out of the 4 machines I put together, this had the worst instructions although it was also the easiest to assemble.

I bought this bench a while ago and I’ve used several times. When I received this bench the stickers that said body solid came off. The construction does not really impress me. First the cushions are to soft and the board backing is to flimsy and feels cheap.

The bench does not slide easily through the square tubing. Adjustment can be a pain and the tightening of the knobs can be tricky. The bench does not seem as solid as I thought. Its feels like one of those cheap benches that you buy at Walmart or Target.

Not something that exudes quality.

This is great bench for someone who is tall, looking for excellent build quality, robust, can be stored away under a bed or in a cupboard and a good amount of padding for peace of mind, when using heavy dumbells.

The wheels make movement of the bench from storage to setup and visa versa, straightforward and effortless. For anyone that is 6’3″ and over, this bench is an ideal choice. The lifetime warranty, can be registered via their UK website and you don’t have to hurry to send off the warranty card included in the box, within 10 days as instructed.

The only drawback I found, was the decline position. Good for decline dumbell bench press. But as a situp bench, it feels too uncomfortable to perform situps. If a situp bench is the corner stone of your ab workout, a dedicated situp bench would be more ideal.

The bench arrived promptly, fully assembled. It is larger and sturdier than I expected. No quality-control issues whatsoever. I am 6’1″ tall, and this bench fits me perfectly. The seat is flat when the bench is inclined, but sliding off the bench is not an issue because the foot rails are sized just right and they hold you in place.

Some reviewers have complained that it’s difficult to remove all of the plastic wrap from the cushions. Not true. Simply unscrew the seat cushions just a little, the plastic wrap comes right off, easily and completely, then just tighten the screws.

So easy, and I am not mechanically inclined. This bench is overbuilt, it’s close to commercial-quality, it’s all the bench I’ll ever need. I am delighted with this purchase, it is very fairly priced, and I highly recommend this bench.

Great Bench does all what is needed, quality is good & is mechanically sound on closer inspection & gives you confidence of using it when your weight is a little on the heavy side. It partly folds away so you can slide it under the bed which is a nice touch when space is at a premium.

Ordering experience was straightforward & simple & didn’t have to wait to long to receive the bench. I recommend this bench for dumbells & barbell work outs.

I tried to order this GFID71 bench from Fitness Superstore for just under £300, at the time of ordering I emailed the sales team to make sure the bench had the latest type of cap-ends on the rollers as the design had been changed.

No one could tell me and no one was bothered to open the box to check. I said I would send it back if it had the old style, but rather than check themselves they told me to refuse the delivery so I would get a full refund.

So that’s exactly what I did. As luck should have it, a few days later, on eBay I bought a nearly new GFID71 for just £100 – with the arm curl and leg developer attachments (nearly £250 extra from Fitness Superstore).

I had to pay £86. 00 to have it delivered but at least I could see it had the latest end caps and at nearly a third of the price offered by Fitness Superstore it was an amazing deal. The bench itself is an excellent piece of kit, massively solid and superbly built.

Shame about the Fitness Superstore sales team though.

I all ready had an older model that I use in the garage. I needed one for my workout room in the house. I looked at other models but decided that the GFID 71 would meet my needs the best. I only had one problem.

The bag of bolts was busted and I was missing some washers. I contacted Body-Solid and they immediately sent the missing hardware.

I had one of these and my house and everything in it was destroyed in Hurr. Katrina. This is a very good bench, with a wide between-the-shoulders area for good support. Allows flat, incline and decline.

The decline is not too steep though, just a moderate decline. Very sturdy. The only minor drawback is that one might sometimes have to put a towel between the back plate and the seat for support as there is a large gap between the two cushions (which is needed in that it that allows the back plate to go up and down).

The seat also inclines up and down. Has wheels on the back for ease of movement around the gym/workout area. The bench also allows a preacher curl attachment. There is a leg extension attachment that can be added as well, but that attachment is not the best.

I would definitely recommend this bench that will stand up to at least two lifetimes of wear.

Received the bench. The threads where the ball screws attach (to adjust the seat) had welds in them which made them inoperable. When complete and stood upright the legs were also crooked. Which can only happen during the manufacturing process.

Asked for a refund and purchased a bench from Rogue. I would not purchase this product again. I will say the customer service was fantastic which I really appreciated.

I ordered this bench in mid January. The website said that it was back-ordered until Feb 28th. It seemed like a good bench for the price, so I ordered it anyway and figured I would wait. It arrived nearly a month sooner than they said! That was a pleasant surprise.

The fit and finish could be a tad better. With that said, the bench is sturdy; it’s a good value for the money.

I was looking for a strong, versatile incline weight bench with a tall back. the first bench i bought took so much time to assemble and once together it was the size of a toy bench and thin padding that tore while putting it together.

I returned it and started looking for one that had a great weight capacity, strong and versatile. I saw the ProGear 1300, 800 lb capacity with a tall back and looked sturdy at a great price so i ordered it.

i hesitated opening the box thinking there would be so many parts to assemble like the Spri bench I returned. Was i wrong. I was amazed how the PROGEAR incline bench was completely assembled except for the support legs.

I noticed how well made and constructed this bench was and the weight was fabulous so it wont easily tip when utilizing. This PROGEAR Bench exceeded my expectations. This is the best bench i have ever had.

This PROGEAR 1300 incline bench including many other features gets a 10 star for Price, construction, durability, EVERYTHING !.

I like this bench a lot. I was impressed with the fit and finish. It appears to be made with quality materials and the assembly instructions were excellent. The bench comes mostly assembled and the feet are easily attached with the enclosed carriage bolts and even the wrench is supplied.

I’m mainly using it for sit-ups and dumbbell exercises and it looks like a great bench for what I need.

This is a well made weight bench. The steel used to construct it is of heavy gauge and the stitching on the back and seat cushions are first rate In essence the fit and finish of the bench is top notch.

However there are some shortcomings that need to be addressed. The bench back and seat should have had another half inch of foam added to make the bench more comfortable. The seat does not incline when the backrest is inclined.

This may not make too much of a problem to many, however when I sit on the bench, in the incline position, I find myself sliding forward since there is nothing in from of you to stop you. This is particularly true when using heavy weights during military and incline bench press routines.

In order to avoid this sliding motion, I’m contemplating placing tapered wedges under the seat in order for it to provide some sort of resistance to sliding fwd. P. S. Incline benches of greater cost have a design that inclines the backrest and seat, either independently or simultaneously.

I agree – this bench is easy to put together and solidly built, but that’s about as far as it goes and why it got two stars instead of one. It’s quite possible the most cumbersome and ergonomically uncomfortable bench I’ve ever used.

The adjustable back support bracket doesn’t inspire confidence that it’ll hold, especially on decline position. The massive front feet get in the way of comfortable foot positions when doing sitting shoulder raises or anything that requires your feet on the ground.

As for using the leg developer that supposedly goes with the bench – the seat sits far too close to the leg developer, so you have to raise the seat slightly inclined and have the leg developer then set a notch up, which is a bit too high to be comfortable.

You the can’t perform any other exercises with the leg developer attached because it’s just in the way – forget about doing any kind of circuit weights. It’s an awful, awful bit of badly designed kit.

I’ve put up with it for too long now and may just scrap it as I couldn’t bring myself to sell it to some other poor soul. Look elsewhere.

This bench is quality ,love how you can slot your leg attachment and preacher curl so easy with the spring pin realise action. Bench its self is very sturdy and only took me half hr to build. The padding is very good will last years am sure.

Overall you may pay a little extra but you won’t be disappointed. 5 stars.

Fantastic bench. Much wider than my last one where needed. Great that there is the attachment area. So much more can be done with it than my previous bench. Build quality it’s truly astonishing, feel like I have one that will last me right up until I quit working out.

I brought this bench to train at home during the lockdown. I normally train at a high end gym and to be honest, I wasn’t expecting this bench to be perfect. I was actually quite impressed. For the price it’s quite sturdy and stable.

It was also very easy to assemble. The bench has one fundamental flaw. The pivot point for the rear back rest, where you raise and lower the angle is too close to the top of the padding. This means when you lay back the large metal plate digs into your back.

It’s especially bad when you lay back with a heavy weight. I had to modify the bench to make it usable. Two other minor flaws. The angles of the backrest feel like they could use a position intermediate to the ones available, especially between the 90 degree and the next one down.

Secondly the wheels on the back that allow easier movement of the bench are still slightly in contact with the floor when assembled so the bench moves back more easily than it should.

Not as sturdy as your commercial grade bench but excellent quality for a home gym. I use it for both dumbbell and barbell bench pressing and it’s pretty strong and stable. Fits nicely under a squat rack for benching both flat and incline.

Easy to assemble though if you have your own Allen key even better to fix the bolts – the keys provided to assemble the bench are a bit fiddly. Overall great bench and excellent service from Sweatband (arrived super quickly too).

A solid piece of equipment. The weldings on the metalwork are strong, the stitching on the material is first rate. The product is absolutely first class. With regards to service; Sweatband were great to deal with and appear to be getting a good volume of scarce equipment into their store for customers during these challenging times.

Cheapest bench I can find. Delivery took 4-5 days longer than i expected. Box was torn up with product sticking out, lost some inexpensive hardware. Assembly easy, required. Cheaply made, metal pieces for adjusting bench height bent a little out of wack but still usable.

The base of the bench has 2 settings, flat and flat 2. 0 (SAME THING, unless i built it wrong, don’t know why they bothered to put it in the design). It’s a little wobbly due to inexpensively and imprecisely made parts.

All in all, I’d say it’s a good buy. 30 lbs so most people should be able to move it easy. You’re buying one of the cheapest, if not THE cheapest adjustable bench out there so expect some flaws. Great investment for an at home gym if you’re looking for something that’ll get the job done without breaking the bank.

Robust and comfortable to use. It was easy to assemble with the right socket wrenches all parts that could easily be lost were held in place with cable ties. The only problem that I had was a few of the bolt heads were somewhat smaller than the others but just required a different socket spanner.

Before I got this bench I couldn’t do a single bench press but once I got it, Oh man, that barbell started going up and down like crazy. The length is great since I am short AF. The width is pretty good, I’m a bit thick so I pretty much spill over which really locks me into place.

The height is good too as it allows my stubby legs reach the floor so I can get some leverage on my presses. The flatness of the bench makes it perfect for laying on or stacking things on if you decide to give up on your fitness goals.

The sleek black vinyl makes it a fashionable addition to any gym. It is good for lefties and righties. It isn’t very comfortable to use upside down. It all seriousness it is a nicely sized and sturdy bench.

This bench met my expectations in every way. All my experiences with XTraining have been good, and I’ve been buying from them for many years now. The bench even came with tools needed to assemble it! Side note – these guys always go the extra mile for customer service too.

Don’t overlook XTraining. These guys make great gear at a reasonable price. Nobody paid me for this review, even though it kinda looks like it!.

This bench is a great all around tool! The construction is hardy, the leather covering super nice and comfy, and it was a breeze to put it together. I had seen a review somewhere comparing it to the Rogue one, saying the latter was better as it was wider.

I’m not a big gal, so the frame size works perfectly for me. As compared with the benches I’ve used at high end commercial gyms, the X Training one leaves nothing to be desired. I’m using it for step ups as well and the bench does not wobble at all.

SOLID! Super satisfied with the purchase. And you can’t beat the price.

Folks, for the money, this weight bench is decent. This weight bench will help you to get the job done. This is an easy to build weight bench and you’ll only need a couple of tools. My only major discrepancy is the position of the seat when you’re doing incline presses.

With the bench at an incline, expect that your head will be very close to the bar. Make sure that your pin locks are in the highest position to get some clearance. However, with using heavier amounts of weight that are still within the guidelines of the weight limits (which for this bench is 500 lbs), this will make for a more difficult lift off from the incline position.

Also, there is not much clearance when working on your thighs from the seated position. You may find that your heels will touch the floor when doing leg curls. Otherwise, for the money, I would say this is a decent bench.

I have a small weight room and was deciding between and Olympic bench and squat stands for my barbell lifting. I decided to go with this Olympic bench because in the past I’ve made do with squatting with Olympic benches.

It was fairly easy to put together although the leg extension leaves a lot to be desired. It was made for olympic plates and even buying a 2in adapter it still doesn’t work because the plates slide down completely to the bottom of the extension and still wobble around.

Even at the highest point it’s more difficult to use this for squatting than other Olympic benches I’ve used in the past and just for reference I’m only 6 ft. It’s still doable but I don’t obviously load up Max or anything near and go for higher reps.

Works good for bench presses for sure. I was a little worried when sibling because it seemed kind of rickety but once it was fully assembled it’s fairly sturdy.

My biggest issue was this was advertised “500lb weight capacity”. They do not tell you this figure is to include the weight of the individual. I would be willing to overlook that IF the thing was more stable.

The “feet” in the back should undoubtedly be longer (to extend back as well as to the front) for better stability. not to mention to have peace of mind as you are setting tons of weight above your forehead and would like not think about welds popping as it tends to rock.

I shimmed the feet with some cardboard. Other than those annoyances. you get some features. fast shipping, no missing parts. Deluxe? Not so much. The discount is for a sub-par design. You can make this 300lb weight bench work.

You shouldn’t have to make it work though! Poor item description.

Fair deal. The instructions weren’t great but you still figure it out. The bench itself is pretty nice. It was on time and priced well.

Very pleased with my new Weights Bench, Item was in immaculate condition. Fully accurate description which described a very good quality product. Dispatch was quick. Which addded to an overall very satisfying transaction.

Purchased 3 AB-3 adjustable benches in April. Benches worked for one week. Pins repeatedly get stuck inside the adjustable holes and will not move. This created a huge problem because the back portion will not adjust and will stay in the same position.

Rogue sent us out 3 replaceable pins to replace the defective pins. Same problem occurred so they sent us 3 new benches. The 3 new benches worked for 2 weeks then we started experiencing the pins getting stuck inside the adjustable holes again.

Rogue claimed this never happened to any other customer, but we find this hard to believe that we received 6 new benches that has the same manufacturer defect. Rogue refuses to give us a refund when we requested a refund.

They offered to give us a store credit to purchase the cheaper model benches they sell on their website. Poor service and product. Very disappointed with them as a company. Will not purchase from them again.
