13 Best Way To Mount Starlink Dish (2023 Updated)

I was very skeptical at first until it arrived. All pieces are very sturdy. I set it up in my back yard, copied the settings from the Dish connected to my house. Played with the tuner until I was comfortable with it and BAM.

I went inside and to my surprise the TV was displaying Law and Order. Crisp clear screen, great sound. Take the time to watch a few(MANY) videos on youtube on tuning your dish. There was not any instructions on how the wires are connected.

So here it is. The short 5′ cable goes to the LNB. That’s the doohicky that connects to the end of the arm, facing the dish. You will connect the SWM(Splitter) between the 5′ cable and the long cable to the power inserter which has two cable connections.

It’s pretty obvious the LNB port is for the long run to the dish, the other marked Signal to IRD goes to the receiver(big box that direcTV rents to you on a monthly basis). It’s that simple. Tuning it on the other hand takes an understanding of how the satellites are aligned in the sky and patience with the tuner.

ONE BIT OF ADIVCE: Make sure the tripod is PERFECTLY straight up and down (PLUMB) using the level. If not you will have trouble tuning the dish.

The only problem that I had with setting up the dish was aligning to the satellite. The bubble level that goes in the top of the mast is of little use. I had the bubble in the middle but when I stepped back and looked at it I could see that the mast was not plumb.

Rechecked and the bubble still in the middle. I used a small carpenter level to plumb it up. After that it was pretty easy to get set up and aligned using the signal meter from the receiver that is shown on the TV.

I can say that it would be somewhat better if this package included an external signal meter for SWM set up. In using the receiver signal meter it does take some running back and forth to get the peak signal adjusted.

By the way, this is intended to be constructive criticism and just so you know, I still would recommend this package for people that are interested in setting one up themselves.

Dish and LNB were fine but tripod was a bit disappointing. The mast pole is sized for old and new size dish mounts which meant it does not seat well in tripod making adjustment and alignment difficult which made it difficult to align dish to get signal.

Tried for 2 hours on weekend outing to get signal no results. Plan on Improvising by mounting dish on a 2″ pole to confirm LNB is working, then switching out package pole with my 2″ pole cut down to mast size hope to try it with tripod to fix issues before going mobile again.

The Wally receiver came as advertised with the remote. Very well protected. Contacted DISH network for activation of the receive and hardrive. The picture was better than my DirectTV i replaced it in my RV.

Just an extra $7 per month to get all the channels I get thru my Hopper3. Able to ad the DVR to the unit, makes it just as nice as being home, recording my favorite programs while mobile.

I like the Wally but this is the second one I’ve purchased in the last year because the first one quit working. Granted these Wally’s are used in a RV so they get bounced around when traveling down the road.

The remote for the Wally is the same as the remote for our Dish Hopper which is really nice. I purchased a WiFi adapter for the Wally which gives you options you don’t have without WiFi. I have found with all Dish receivers used in RV’s loss the satellite signal which may be because the Portable RV Dish.

This is the second Wally we have added to our camper for the bedroom TV. It works fine but only gets the same satellite channels that are viewed on the main Wally in the living room. Both are hooked to the Tailgater II.

Also, you must leave the living room TV on or your bedroom Wally will go off after a short time.

We have only used the tripod once. It was helpful when trying to find an unobstructed view to the sky. Otherwise, we have simply placed the King Tailgater on top of our trailer so it’s out of the way.

Easy set up! Great quality

I bought this bracket to mount a GPS receiver for our master signal generator. I was able to easily mount the bracket to the roof load frame using 4 beam clamps. A 5 foot piece of 1. 5 inch EMT fits easily in the bracket and I don’t have any worries that this bracket will fail.

Quality products like this are why Channel Master is always my first choice.

These are heavy brackets which support a mast well. I used 1″ EMT metal electrical conduit for the mast. The large set screw could be shorter, since I routed the cable from the antenna down the center of the conduit and it tended to snag on the end of the set screw which protruded inside the conduit.

I used protective caps from 1″ threaded galvanized piped (which I got from the local home center pipe rack) to protect the antenna cable from chafing on the sharp edge of the conduit. I had to secure the caps in place with hose clamps because the caps were of a larger diamater than the EMT.

This is what I needed. Just be careful not to over torque the lag bolts- heads snap easily.

I had a problem in the beginning when I discovered that the unit required 12 VDC power from a cable box which I did not have so I called King and was told that I could buy a 12 VDC power suplly from King for a small fee.

It only took a few days to receive the 12 VDC supply but when I connected the 12 VDC the unit still did not perform. I then pulled out my trusty multimeter to check to see if the 12 VDC power supply was to blame and it failed to produce any power whatsoever.

I then called King to have them send out a replacement 12 VDC power supply. Upon receipt of that power supply I connected it to my King Premium (OA8501) antenna and now I’m quite happy. It’s doing a fine job even though I’m quite a distance from any city such as Philadelphia PA, Baltimore MD, or Vineland NJ.

I bought a King Jack OmniPro to replace a batwing on my 2002 5th wheel. The install was fairly easy; hardest thing was cleaning up all the old Dicor glop up on top that covered the old batwing base. The batwing had significant damage and most was the result of the crank mechanism likely not be lubricated regularly.

The OmniPro eliminates this type maintenance and there is no crank up and down gears so should hold up better. The OmniPro picks up a couple OTA channels than did the batwing but performance is similar.

It is easy to rotate and since I have a TV adjacent to the in cabin rotation control, I didn’t feel it necessary to buy the additional electronic pointing feature. All in all, seems like a reasonable replacement for an old batwing.

These used to be bigger and they made them smaller. They say its to make space for the wireless chargers in phones, but they could have just sold another version of this product and it is clear to about anyone they are just trying to increase profit margins.

The two smaller plates are so small I’m not really sure what they could be used for, maybe holding up a GPS unit or dash cam? I think they should have just kept it the same size and personally I would go with their XL pack the next time I need magnet plates.

They are strong for their size and scratch easily, but I personally don’t have experience using other plates so I can’t really say how good they are. But they are strong. Place them where you want because they are hard to take off and you are likely going to bend it.

Needed a car mount option for driving Lyft, and this one was perfect. Stuck one of these guys on the back of my phone and the rest is history. They’re super thin but feel very sturdy. Anyone would play hell trying to bend or snap one of these with their bare hands, for sure.

***VERY IMPORTANT RANT HERE*** LESSON LEARNED (the hard way): Stick these guys on the OUTSIDE of your phone case. I put mine directly on the glass back of my iPhone XS Max, with the protective film applied as directed in the instructions, and then put my case over it.

I was thinking it made more sender so I wouldn’t have to replace the plates every time I got a new case. I didn’t consider the way this would focus all of the pressure between the case and the glass into one small area instead of allowing the case to absorb impacts in case of a drop (for instance, when it falls out of your hand leaving Target and literally lands completely flat on the back on the sidewalk) Let’s just say that I discovered that if you shatter the glass on the back of your iPhone, they have to replace the entire device because getting to that plate of glass on the rear side requires taking the whole phone apart anyway.

Thankfully, I opted for the monthly AppleCare+ Theft + Loss with Accident Protection when I decided to buy the 512GB model, and it was only $99 to pay my deductible to replace my phone, and not the nearly $1000 it would still cost to buy a new or refurbished one from a reputable seller.

Whew. dodged a bullet on that one! So. PUT IT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CASE, PEOPLE!!! It’s a lot cheaper to buy another set of these if you change your case VS paying to replace your entire device.

These work great with my Steelie Orbiter. The metal piece that came with my Steelie did not stick to my case because it was leather and no extra metal pieces included. So these are perfect and reasonably priced.

Just laid the larger one between my phone case and phone. It’s working perfectly! Did not have to stick it to onything! So no mess and holds my phone securely on the Steelie.

This is a remanufactured item that does not work the remote won’t even turn it on must use power bottom. Will be returning to camping world for refund. If I don’t get a full refund will never order anything else from camping world!.

This is a low end receiver that’s slow to control the Playmaker dish, slow to download the guide, and nearly useless if any clouds or precipitation block the dish. Most of the time it won’t find more than one satellite which eliminates HD for most channels.

The 211z is one of the easiest receivers I’ve used. Not only is it easy to set up, the picture quality is amazing for this little box. Great pay as you go feature makes for an inexpensive experience that one can set up or cancel without any hassle or extra expense.

Highly recommend this item.

So far we’re not impressed with this product. We purchased this product a little over a month ago, it’s worked properly once since the purchase. Since then, I get constant error message, channel signal lost, etc.

Like the last review, Dish directs you to the manufacturer and the manufacturer point the finger back at Dish. Bottom line, I have wasted hours trying to figure this thing out and it won’t work!.

It does have a great picture. it is small- compact and does a good job with the remote working in RF, not line of sight. I haven’t been able to get anyone to answer any of my questions yet as to why it takes 20 minutes to give me any picture after any power off event.

I’m using this with a playmaker auto sattelite dish that is noisey when it is “looking” for sattelites, (roof mounted in my RV) It seems to have to move the dish when the wally goes to “sleep or standby” generally in the middle of the night.

I dont seem to be able to make it not randomly re search for sattelirtes when every one is asleep. my old reciever only took about 7 to 10 minutes to lock and work. This was supposed to be the “new and fasted one so far” Well, Not for me so far.

Not sure if it has been worth it so far , would like to get some tech. help!.

Dish Outdoors aka pace international, is a horrible company, rude customer service, unwilling to help. Buyer beware getting a dual antenna, BOTH TVs have to be on the same channel but they don’t tell you this.

One of the worst experiences trying to do a return with this company.

Sturdy built. Used to replace an older 1. Double locking mast holders and full bottom mast catcher so far works well with a 10′ mast Just installed today so time will tell , but so far impressed with it’s construction.

I know when there are, lets say, if there are10 reviews there is always one down on something. Even that person will have a hard time finding something wrong with this heavy duty tripod. I would definitely recommend the heavy duty.

Don’t try to save a couple of dollars and buy the light duty and be sorry later. It is an extremely good value. The parts must be worth the price not counting the labor.

This tripod is very ridged great price better than amazon free shipping and also very fast shipping all you need is the pitch pad kit and you are good as gold I don’t see this tripod coming down for a long time probly until I need a new roof about twenty years from now.

works well except the LNB was for the HOPPER not my VIP recorder. Be sure and confirm LNB is for your receiver model. In this day and age consumers have to be an EXPERT in everything.

I like the Dish. It works like at home dish once I got it stabilized, but I had a hard time getting it stabilized in order to fine the correct satellite. I wish the tripod bolts held the dish pole steady.

The end results finally came to be fine, but the Tripod its self could use some fine tuning.

A little misleading with the “w/o” much smaller than the other words. Won’t know how it works until I buy the LNB I thought came with it. If LNB had been part of what I purchased, $46 would have been an okay price.

Without it, not so much.

pas de souci avec le vent ou le mauvais temps. Pas très encombrante ce qui est un plus pour le transport sur le toit , la prise au vent limitée et le positionnement sur un mat déjà bien occupé. C’est dommage qu’il n’y ait pas un système de rotation interne pour le LNB intégré car contrairement à ce que l’on voit sur les photos habituellement elle peut se trouver placée en diagonale suite au réglage d’inclinaison mais ce n’est que pure esthétique.

Enfin dommage qu’il ne soit pas livré avec un manchon d’étanchéité pour la prise du câble (à prévoir pour les futurs acheteurs).

Die “Rckwand ist gedmmt und dadurch tabu. DIE Schssel und die Halterungen sind massiv verarbeitet. Ein Imbus Schlssel liegt bei. Da alles aus Aluminium ist kann nix rosten. Trotz des kleinen Durchmesser der Schssel habe ich 48 % Signalstrke und 100% Qualitt.

Ich kann die Schssel weiterempfehlen, berall dort wo eine grere nicht mglich ist. Meine erste TechniSat (45 cm) empfngt 75% Signalstrke.

Gut finde ich, dass die Emfangsqualität durch Nebel oder Regen nun nicht mehr beeinflusst wird.

Daarna kan, door naar links te draaien, de rook melder simpel worden verwijdert en naar rechts draaien weer teruggeplaatst.
