20 Best Video Card For 4K Htpc (2023 Updated)

Ok so lets first address the elephant in the room, this card and all GPU’s are massively overpriced in this crypto mining world we live in today. I really held out as long as I could and I landed this card for $1499.

This is by far the most expensive card I’ve ever purchased. I’m upgrading from a EVGA 2080 which I paid roughly $700 for so over double in price and I’m quite certain I’m not getting double the performance.

That said, I just wanted to build an all AMD machine and well I paid the piper. Also 6800XT’s are going for almost as much and I just figured I’m already spending way more than I want to so I might as well just go all in.

This card is huge and weighs almost 6lbs. The Corsair Crystal 680X was always going to be the case I built this system in and I was shocked when this card barely fit in it. I really thought I would have surplus space given how roomy this case is but wow, another millimeter and I’d be sending this card back.

The card has a very slight sag on my Asus TUF Gaming X570 Plus MB. Nothing I’d be too worried about but I may slide a support in there if it kicks off my OCD too much in the future. The card feels and looks very tough and there is nothing cheap feeling about this card.

It is performing very well at 3440×1440 and I’m getting great FPS on all the games I’m playing at Ultra settings. I’d say decent temps as well, I did play with the fan curves a bit but generally its running in the 40’s idle and 60’s to high 70’s during gameplay.

I dont have a 4K monitor to test out and I’m really not considering 4K gaming at this point in time. I think 1440p is the sweet spot for gaming right now and this card is almost overkill but what is wrong with that right? I’m not a fan of the Polychrome Sync software that you use to change the lighting on the card as its very slow and takes forever to start up.

Once I have the color set though its easy enough to remove the software. I’m also not a fan of the red highlights on the card, I knew the color-scheme when I bought it but I’d prefer and all black or black and white card.

Overall I think this card is a winner and if you’re like me desperately trying to build a new machine in the worst possible market, this card is a fine addition and you shouldn’t be worried about its performance.

The pricing is insane and I realize I’m contributing to these high prices by purchasing this card but I wanted a new machine and it is what it is. This card would probably retail for around $1200 normally anyway so $300 over is pretty good in this market IMO.

Great card! Runs fairly cool as long as your case is well vented. Mild overclock/under volt managed a 2550-2580core clock with 2100mhz memory clock very stable over the past few weeks zero issues. Stock boost clock claims 2340mhz on the core but I say a pretty regular 2400mhz out of the box.

Overall the very easy overclock/undervolt in adrenaline with some fan tuning has met me roughly 10% on average in game fps. So I cant complain. Especially since I got this card on sale at extremely close to msrp.

Meaning this card is probably one of the best values in this current market when you look at 3080,3080ti,and 3090 prices. This card packs a punch and at 1080p and 1440p out does the 3090! And at 4k with the overclock is on par! No brainer to me if youre shopping the high end right now! Have had the card going on a month no and zero issues.

Its a power house. Specs 5600x 16gb ddr4 3600 cl14 6900xt Seasonic 850w gold psu.

For perspective: I had no choice to wait for prices to die down so I was forced to make a decision on what card to buy now, and I decided on this model. It performs great in any 1080p game and High settings, meeting the 144hz I need for my monitor, and is running cool the whole time.

My only concern is that it is permanently configured to utilize a PCIe 4. 0 x8 slot. Fine if you’re using the latest B550 or X570 boards (not sure the intel chipset), but if you’ve only got PCIe 3. 0 x16, its speed is going to be restricted to a PCIe 3.

0 x8 slot. I haven’t noticed any bottlenecking, but any games that withdraw a lot of texture data from your hard drive frequently will be slightly less fast than a PCIe 4. 0 slot. Otherwise an excellent card.

Overall this is probably the more affordable higher end GPU before the Nvidia 4000 series and new AMD lines become available. From testing games I’ve got, it sits around the levels of performance of 3080ti/3090, depending on the engine, whether they go hard into the RTX aspect.

But got solid 70+ FPS even from something like Cyberpunk 2077, maxed out with RTX on at 1440p. Other games go well above 120fps, then again mileage there may vary depending on the rest of your HW, but it it a card fully capable letting you experience games at their best and also stretch the legs of your 144/165hz displays.

It’s a fairly chunky card so expect to be looking at least a midtower for your builds along with at least a full sized ATX board, the card also seems to take about 2,5-3 slots in the back so should be mindful of that as well.

It being the ”founders edition” it comes with what feels like a fairly stock cooling solution which has me a bit worried considering the card can run rather hot. During a high load (again something like CP2077) the temps can be around 70-80C and 90-95C at junction.

And I’m running an airflow case with 3x120mm fans and a radiator as intake, 2x140mm on top and a 1x120mm in the back (all Noctua) as exhausts, everything else goes at really nice temperatures so I’d assume this is by AMD’s design.

Gonna, I guess have to wait and see if it’s going to affect the longetivity of the card, let’s hope it’s been designed to handle this. Despite the worries about thermals and the card getting a bit noisy when the fans start going, I definitely recommend it to someone looking for that higher end but sensible enough to not want to spend excessive amounts of money just to squeeze couple extra frames out of RTX heavy games.

Get a good case with decent airflow, I’d also recommend a good set of fans to make sure the thing gets enough cool air to keep it from getting anywhere near the thermal throttling point.

This is an amazing GPU. Unless you need all the rays traced (and this card even does that pretty well) this wonderful piece of technology wrecks a 3070, is better than the 3070ti and in almost every case is within 10% or better the performance of a 3080.

For a fraction of the price. Throw into the mix the fact than Jensen is a total wanker; AMD in 2023, going into 2023, post crypto/etherium mining bust/EVGA breakup, is probably the place to be. I’m replacing an RTX 2060.

I’m not a fanboy. I’m practical and pragmatic. I purchased the reference designed Radeon card and it is very stoutly built. Card is stronk.

I was set on the 6800xt but when comparing msrp mark up, this card is about 50% more, and the 6800xt is about 120% more. I purchased this card solely on the fact of resell value if the market were to return to balance.

I would stand a smaller loss on this card than the 6800xt. As for performance, this thing is a beast! I mainly play COD games. Coming from a rx580 which put out about 120fps on a good day paired with a 3600.

I did a overhaul on my system and got this card with a 5800x and aio, i was putting out 350fps @1080p, 250fps @2k, and 120fps @4k all with DXR off With DXR ON i saw an acceptable loss if fps, yet was still holding strong.

280fps@1080p, 160fps@2k, 80fps@4k. May plans with this card is to move from my 1080 monitor to a 2k monitor. Im confident with light tweaking i will be able to hold 2k@ 166fps. All while keeping DXR on.

All though only a few games have DXR options, its nice to know that this card will handle the load. Im hoping to keep the card for a good 4 years until we see the next evolution in GPUs.

A beastly card for a beastly price. The design looks really good and the build quality is excellent. The card is extra large though, make sure the dimensions fit your case! It’s GPU boost clock is at 1860 MHz and it comes with dual bios: quite and gaming mode, which seem to affect how aggressive the fan curves are set.

Although I’m unable to see any major performance difference on either settings. GPU temps hit ~70 °C under load on “gaming” setting, with an average 3DMark score of ~20500 without any tweaks. From a value point of view; the 3090s has never been considered “good value”.

A limiting factor is availability – most other modern GPUs are impossible to find, even the 3090 is hardly in stock. And it’s even harder to find any at MSRP. Overall, I’m happy with the card. However if availability wasn’t an issue – I would have probably got a 3080 or 6800/6800 XT.

This card is a BEAST. The 24GB will be overkill for over 90% of people, but since when does that stop anyone?I use this card primarily for gaming and it runs a buttery smooth 144Hz (2560×1080) of most modern games.

The design is clean and looks better than most of the other 3080/3090 cards. This card is HUGE so make sure you check your case dimensions. I had to remove my PSU shroud and this card still pushes on the pci-e power cable from the PSU in a vetical mount.

Otherwise I have nothing but great things to say about this 3090!!! Best of luck with acquiring one!.

SLI for gaming is dead unless you are running software that can benefit from NVLINK’s high-speed connectivity like AI/ML, complex rendering, CUDA applications. Maybe SLI gaming works if pairing with a GSYNC display, but at least for my normal 4K 60 display(Dell U2718Q), there are some frame syncing issues.

Sometimes the distance between cards is not consistent. If you’re buying identical cards this may not be as much an issue. Measure carefully!

TLDR: Incredibly pleased with boost in performance, (especially when using Blender 3) while at times requiring less power than old card! Longer thoughts: Retired a 2015 EVGA GTX 980 Ti SC+ ACX 2. 0+ (part no.

06G-P4-4995-KR) which has been used quite a lot for rendering with Blender 3 since its release last year. Navigating viewports when in render preview mode is much more fluid for detailed geometry/materials, and final image rendering performance is considerably better! Extra VRAM also allows for higher-resolution renders without Blender running out of memory when denoising via GPU (OptiX).

GPU/OptiX denoising is an order of magnitude faster than CPU/OpenImageDenoise denoising. I only tested two Blender benchmark scenes with the 980Ti card, so while they may not give an indicator across the board of how much more powerful the 3080Ti is, their results were interesting.

Using 980Ti, GPU and CUDA API: bmw27_gpu, 1min 7sec, 194. 3 W max classroom, 1min 55sec, 216. 2 W max Using 3080Ti, GPU and OptiX API: bmw27_gpu, 9sec, 304. 8 W max classroom, 19sec, 332. 7 W max It definitely uses more power, but over less time.

Wattage was logged using the GPU-Z tool. Where it was most notable was with my own archviz scene, which for a single frame took the 980Ti approx 15mins to render. The 3080Ti renders the exact same image in 3min 32sec.

Gaming: most my games feel/look the same (!) as on the 980Ti – this is probably because they’re mainly old (2007-2018) titles, my system runs in 1920×1200, no 4K or anything fancy, and that the 980Ti could handle them without problems.

However, I did notice that Far Cry 5, Borderlands 3 and Shadow Of The Tomb Raider can be cranked up to their highest settings with the 3080Ti without any issues, although I suspect such settings for 1920×1200 resolution are overkill.

Some visual differences are subtle. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ For the above games (and Max Payne 3 and Detroit Become Human) I discovered that the GPU isn’t being stressed according to GPU-Z, with it literally running in an “Idle” state according to the “PerfCap Reason” metric, all clock speeds are quite low and “Board Power Draw” averaged around 110 watts.

While I never captured these same statistics when using the 980Ti card, I recall that card never being “Idle” during gaming, (i. e. it was always busy and limiting due to either power or voltage, etc) with clocks constantly maxed out and power draw very close to its maximum of 250W.

Similarly, Ark Survival Evolved can have its visuals increased and it feels much more fluid than what the 980Ti ever did – even when using its lower settings. The game still makes PC sound like a jet aircraft, at times, though! Ark does make the 3080Ti work hard in this case, consuming 250+ watts, so similar to the 980Ti, except the experience is considerably better.

PC is a 2010/2011 machine using a Gigabyte X58A-UD5 motherboard, Intel i7 980X 6-core CPU at 3. 46GHz, 24GB RAM, running Windows 10 Pro build 19044. 2006, with nVIDIA 512. 15 drivers. Old hardware by today’s standards, but works brilliantly with the 3080Ti.

There was no need to change PSU – simply unplugged the 6 and 8-pin PCIE power cables from the 980Ti, swapped video card, plugged in both 8-pin and 6+2-pin power cables to the 3080Ti, job done. Power supply is a 1020W Enermax.

The use of two 8-pin power cables was a key reason why I chose this particular card because some other 3080Ti’s (and the 3090’s) appear to require three 8-pin connectors, which may have been an issue for my PSU.

Although the 3090 series has an extra 12GB RAM, their additional power requirements and only “slight” performance increase over the 3080Ti didn’t seem worth it for my use-case, specifically Blender. Moving from a 7-year old card to this was already a huge jump.

I’m very happy and would recommend this card if you’re making a similar upgrade.

While the RTX 3080 Ti XC3 stands in contrast to the FTW3 from EVGAs line, for me it had many attractive options. The XC3 had many elements that made it very attractive to my build. It has two 9 pin slots for power vs the standard 3 seen on other 3080 Ti cards.

this made it an easy drop in replacement for my other cards. Additionally, since it was so thin comparatively, it took up less board space and outlets. Swapping from my old card to the things are actually MORE accessible.

While I rarely need to get into the system to fiddle with things, a thinner card with simpler power requirements made for an easy swap. Performance wise, its fantastic. It comes with the cards title but the 3080 Ti excels at pumping out graphics when asked and I’ve rarely met a modern game that it can’t run at 4k 60 hz at a minimum.

I have not noticed any problems with heat. With 3 fans the card keeps itself quite cool under load and I’ve measured a peak temperature around 70 degrees for my build. A bonus is that card came with its own bracket to help hold it.

While I already had one, it is nice to see that manufacturers are acknowledging card sag and provide solutions in the box. My biggest misgiving is the RGB. There are two RGB elements to the card which are EVGA markers.

They are easily configurable and you can turn them off but the styling is still noticeable even with the RGB off. Overall, very satisfied. Amazing form factor that made a hot swap simple without much thought on power or space.

And the base 3080 TI performance I wanted out of the card.

Overall the performance of this card is very good. It is slightly overclocked to 1725Mhz and runs very solid at that number. Under full load, the fans can get a little noisy but that is no different than just about any other air-cooled GPU monster like this.

The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that this card has only two PCI-E connectors and is therefore wattage limited to around 360-370 watts. You will constantly hammer off the wattage limitation with the 1725Mhz and rarely boost too much above that for an extended period.

Yes, you might see 2090Mhz for real short spikes but never for long. I now realize that EVGA has the FTW cards specifically with 3 ports and a 1800Mhz boost clock but wanted to call that out here in this review.

With under volting I was able to get my card into a more consistent 1850Mhz range and a 20K score on 3DMark Timespy which is still pretty darn good. There is just no headroom left without the third connector.

If you are hoping to get a 2100-2200Mhz card you will need to move up to the FTW but this card can give you a solid 1725-1825 boost range which is still above the 1665Mhz of the base GPU.

I’ve been using this card for around five days now and it handles anything I throw at it with ease. All my games are on ultra/high settings and I’ve had not one issue. This card is a major upgrade for me.

The card it’s replacing is an ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 960 on an ASUS Z390-A motherboard. Without a doubt every single aspect using graphics on this PC has upgraded. I have read both the positive and negative comments about this card on Newegg.

It seems to me that both positive and negative comments have one thing in common: This card runs hot. The negative comments mention the heat as well as the fact that the cooling section on this card is from the 1660 EVGA series repurposed for this card.

-It says right on the box that this card was literally created to use with EVGA’s Precision X1. At idle with Precision X1 this card stays between 30-40 Celsius. Under load this card has not once exceeded 72 Degrees.

Which is absolutely optimal. X1 allows you to pick the power level you want to run at. At 100% the target Temp is 83 Celsius. At like 92% power the Temp level is around 72 Celsius. When I set at 100% Power the Temp has never gone beyond 72 Celsius.

In other words IF YOU ARE USING THIS CARD WITHOUT PRECISION X1, THIS IS LIKELY WHY YOU ARE HAVING HEAT ISSUES OR YOUR CASE AIRFLOW SUCKS. I’ve had literally no issues with Temps in this card with Precision X1.

You can lower the power of this card with precision X1 which will dramatically lower temps easily. Before posting negative comments I would strongly suggest troubleshooting first. If you cannot find the reason for the problems contact EVGA directly.

I use an EVGA G3 Supernova 750 watt PSU and this EVGA Card. I’ve never had any problems with EVGA stuff and have been using various EVGA stuff for 10+ years. This card comes with a 3 year warranty. Contact them for help and perhaps they can fix the issues BEFORE you start posting negative unnecessary comments.

EDIT: most of the above still applies. I have decent FPS in most games weeks after first use. However, the 2060 CAN handle more power and better overclock speeds. This is why the card is so cheap. If you are in dire need of an upgrade from like a 600-900 series GTX card, this would be an upgrade but nowhere near as good as other cards that CAN be overclocked properly beyond nvidia specs very likely because they reused cooling section from a 1660 instead of giving it a proper cooler.

This is a good GPU for the price however if you can splurge more on a GPU I recommend you splurge on it. This GPU arrived in perfect condition, no damage to the box what so ever. Arrived on time. East installation, easy software in my opinion to monitor temperatures and set fan curves.

HOWEVER, this GPU will get VERY VERY HOT during most triple A titles, like GTA and Rainbow Six Siege hitting temperatures of 74°C – 82°C. Its idle temperature is around 38°C which is fine and during csgo its typically around 60°C and for me at least quiet.

But whenever I play GTA it skyrockets and I’ve lowered my settings several times and restarted it as well. Might just use it as a place holder for my next GPU I get around December.

I can definitely tell a difference between my old build. I am not bent on benchmarks and can’t comment on that. I bought this with a Ryzen 7 3700X and can see a difference compared to my old 4670K intel i5 and GTX 1060 (6GB memory).

So I don’t know how much is processor improvement vs GPU improvement. All I know is this system runs the games played on it (Fortnite, Call of Duty, GTA5 and many others) better than my old system (which my son still uses and is pretty good).

I did not have many options for ordering video cards in December of 2020 at a reasonable price point (I mean, prices were TERRIBLE along with stock). I was not excited about the single fan, but it seems to be perfectly fine.

It doesn’t seem to make a lot of noise like I worried it would. I like that fact that it is kind of small compared to my 1060.

Maybe I got a lemon or something, but this GPU generates way too much heat to be cooled by a single fan. I’m seeing this card run at a constant 90c with occasional spikes above 90c which causes the card to throttle down in order to get back under 90c.

In Sekiro it introduces ungodly FPS lags/stutters (which is a death sentence as that game requires precise timing on your blocks/deflects) because of the throttling that occurs. In Final Fantasy XIV I had to turn the settings down to Normal in order to maintain a buttery smooth 60 FPS @1080P, this card couldn’t even get 60FPS@1080P on High settings.

I’ve since bought myself a 5500 XT (with dual fans of course) and not only does that card maintain a cool 70-80c temp, but I’m able to crank my games up to High/Max settings and get that smooth 60 FPS @1080P.

Not knocking the 1660 Super overall, just that this particular card needs more than a single fan in order to stay cool. I’m kinda miffed I missed my return window but I guess I’ll sell it second hand and recoup some of my cash.

If you’re going to get a 1660 Super, BUY ONE WITH DUAL FANS!.

If you are trying to decide if getting the RTX series cards is worth it ask yourself what resolution you will be playing in. Anything higher than 1080p is going to severely hinder the performance on this card even with a good cpu.

Stick to RTX for 1440p or 4k gaming especially if you are using a high refresh rate monitor. I paired this card with a 32 inch LG G-sync model and i wish i would have spent the extra 400 on a 2080 for good 2k fps.

Otherwise this card is amazing for regular HD gaming and i would recommend this to anyone with a 1080p 144hz monitor Review Edit. I’ve had to RMA this card twice. it worked for a few months both times but both of them died the same way, they wont post.

I’m not sure whats going on but its very frustrating. If you are new to pc building just buy a pre-built. Building was fun but now its a nightmare.

Honestly one of the most difficult to find items I’ve ever bought. After being really hyped for the RTX 30 series launch in September 2020 I waited patiently on Newegg’s site but they were gone instantly.

Needless to say that was the case virtually still one year later (that will likely continue into 2023 even). Everything from parts shortages, to distribution issues, scalpers, have led to a perfect storm of many electronics, especially graphics cards being difficult (or nearly impossible) to find.

While I really wanted the 3080, despite it’s high MSRP of $800 that really started with the RTX 20 series for pricing, I decided to take a chance at a Best Buy stand in line event to get one. The alternative was potentially waiting a few years or just paying off a scalper at around three times the price and likely paying around $2000.

I’ve waited at other midnight events with lines of maybe 40 people and so with a 7:30am voucher hand out, I decided to show up around 5am. When I arrived there were about 60 people and when they handed out vouchers there were another 60-80 people.

I was a few people late to score a 3080, but could grab a 3070Ti, 3080Ti, or a 3090. Having sold my 2080 for a mere $800 months before I knew my only upgrades were the 3080Ti or the 3090. I opted for the $1300 3080Ti as the only real additional benefit of the 3090 is the additional memory.

So while I was paying more than I wanted for a 13-15% performance benefit, the additional memory was also a decent upgrade. At nearly twice the price, in a typical market I would have just bought a 3080, but given the situation, the Ti was the way to go.

Paired up with my 11900K, Z590 motherboard, NVME drive, 32GB DDR4, and 750W Antec PSU, I was finally good to game. I typically will game in either 4K 30-60fps or sometimes dip down the resolution to 1440p or so for more performance with ray tracing.

The DLSS is also a great addition since the RTX 20 series to allow for supersampled resolution upscaling for high frame rates while at a near native 4K. All around I’m pretty happy with my purchase. Temperatures are reasonable on the card though I may opt to remove the cooler and replace the thermal pads as many have shown the ones used with the board are garbage.

Replacing the pads (carefully) can lower temperatures fairly considerably, which can help prolong the life of your valuable investment.

This card is a beast! Seriously, it is easily 10-15% better than the 3080. Sure it costs $500 more than the FE 3080, but it delivers 3090 performance in a smaller package at $300 less than the 3090. Realistically this is the actual “no holds barred” GPU for insanely powerful rigs.

Now it does have a few drawbacks. The primary one is cooling. You’re running a 350 watt GPU through a 3080 cooling solution. My card gets to 80C core and 100C memory without adjusting the fan curve in normal gaming.

The fans do run higher as well, often hitting 50% or higher. This little beast runs hot, and certainly benefits from a repaste. But, this is also the 4K champion. Expect to run any game at good FPS. (Well Cyberpunk and Metro Exodus EE still need DLSS).

If you’re looking at this card, you had better have a 4k 120hz or higher monitor to take advantage of it’s full potential. Don’t skimp on the PSU either. If you OC this card it will pull over 400 watts.

Also it’s just visually aesthetic. Coolest looking card by far in my opinion.

Although this should have been a sub $1000 card in my opinion, it is still an excellent card to get right now – that is if you can find it at MSRP. It runs hot (especially the memory), but if you are willing, you can undervolt it pretty easily since it is rated for so much power.

Overclocking the memory seems to be pretty successful as well, even with an undervolt applied. This card is pretty hefty, but seems to have nice build quality. I don’t really care about the looks of my build but if you do, this card looks pretty awesome to me.

I specifically got it because I have a LG C1 OLED and I wanted to push it is far as I could. I am mainly a PC gamer, but I have a XSX and a PS5 (yes, I know I am EXTREMELY fortunate) and this looks as good or better than either of those consoles.

If you get a chance to get this card at MSRP, it is well worth it. However, anything over the $1200 and you are better off getting a lower spec card and waiting for the next generation of cards to be available.

Upgraded from GTX 970 to RX 6800. Transaction was simple and quick, had the GPU installed and running in a matter of minutes. No issues so far and I can run most games/benchmarks I’ve tried at max settings in 4k without dropping below 60 fps.

This is without using the overclocking tools in AMD’s software to boost performance. Purchased this at a little under MSRP and very happy with my purchase.

Dont buy this. Used price should always be no higher than 3/4 if in good condition. Also this is way past msrp lol Soon cards will be flooding the market due to change in crypto mining. And new cards around the corner which will drive prices further down.

Decided to build something that will last me work ps6/ next console gen and I am happy I got this card. It is absolutely a beast and handles everything 4K at ultra settings. The card runs very hot though and runs from 70 to 85cc even with 9 high end fans.

I paired this with i9 12900ks and everything runs like charm. With my research I found this is normal for this gtmraphics card even though there may be custom lower temperature cards around. I was initially scared that the gpu and cpu were generating to much heat but it seems it is the drawback of these new high watt peripherals which take a lot of voltage.

These come with 3 year warranty so i feel safer and after extensive research found out that these temperatures of 65-85 based on games are normal depending on the game. God of war ultra 4K all setting maxed runs at crisp 74-79 degrees.

I replayed the game even though I platinumed it on ps5 on a 4K tv. It looks so much better in this card. Even though I had to downgrade from 1080p 240hz to 4K 144hz, the visual quality of 4K is amazing and really big than what people claim to be.

God of war looks so amazing on this graphics card paired with 12900ks that I played it even though I recently platinumed it on ps5. It looks way amazing than ps5. I noticed something that this card. Dota 2 , league of legends and games with no added 4K textures look so crisp it actually blows you away.

Games like rainbow six siege looks crisp and clean and so amazing. I noticed another thing that there is no significant advantage of using Dlss if you do not want higher fps because the graphics card use same temperature whether you use dlss or regular 4K.

I do not understand the dlss technology enough to understand if it is better in terms of latency but I tried dlss in few games and realized it made no significant difference on 144hz monitor. Also noticed something that temperature of gpu on 4K and 8k is not much different which leads me to be believe the gpu seems to be most efficient around 75-85 temperature when it is using its full 450watts.

I definitely did not understand how awesome 4K gaming is and it feels like I can not go back to 1080p anymore no matter how high the refresh rate is. and nearly upgraded to 1440p monitor which would have been a huge waste because this card throws everything in 4k ultra at ease.

This graphics card may require large case and sufficient airflow. Please check with its dimensions and your cpu case.

I’m going to keep my introduction simple. The RTX 3090 Ti is the bleeding edge of GPU technology, but at this point, it begs the question: Why now, when the 4000 Series is right around the bend? I’ll get back to that after reviewing my experience.

First. let’s talk about the card in usage. Installing this thing isn’t without it’s issues. It’s massive, it’s heavy, but for good reason. It’s got a 450w TDP, and in my use case at 4k 160hz (LG 27GP950-B), I was getting spikes of 430w with it regularly staying between 365w-385w.

That’s at stock out of the box, and that only got the card to boost to 1940mhz (74c @ 50% fan speed). I was worried my SF750 would explode under such loads, so I took to undervolting and this card surprisingly delivered.

I was now hitting 2025mhz @ 925mv plus a +500mhz bump to memory clocks, resulting in a maximum power draw of ~350w and temps down to 70c with the same 50% fan speed. All around, the gaming and overclocking/undervolting experience is superb.

However, at the current MSRP. This card isn’t worth the premium over other cards in the same RTX 3000 line up. A 3080 Ti is considered one of the better price-performance cards available, and if we’re comparing FE to FE, with the additional cost to jump to a 3090 Ti, one could instead buy a 3080/3090 waterblock and do a bit of overclocking and the gap is closed even further.

If you haven’t noticed by now, I simply cannot justify the $800 price jump for a ~20% performance bump at 4k (again, you can overclock the 3080 Ti and shorten the gap). I haven’t ruled out AMD either, and the 6900 XT is only 18% slower.

With the introduction of the refreshed 6950 XT, and it’s current 1099 USD MSRP, AMD isn’t ruled out just yet. But if you prefer what RTX technologies have to offer, the 3080 Ti is far from slow, and while the same can be said about overclocking the 3090 Ti, you start to run into the realm of needing 1000w-1200w PSUs, especially if you’re pairing this with an overclocked 12900K or 5950x.

Heat is also another issue, with EKWB having announced a waterblock for this FE card already, but is only available for pre-order with a ship date sometime in early-June. So now we circle back to my original question: Why now? A 3090 Ti would’ve been a very welcomed release in Fall 2021, with it having enough time after the 3090 release, and a good buffer before the 4000 Series release.

Both AMD and NVIDIA (I’m not gonna throw Intel into the ring just yet, since their ARC lineup has been nothing but delays) are expecting to drop their new lineup in the next 2-3 months. Knowing this, I genuinely feel this card is in an awkward spot.

If it wasn’t for the fact that I have become an enthusiast more than a gamer, I wouldn’t have bothered. But I’ve owned high end cards from both camps since the R9 Fury and Titan X days. If you’re a gamer, then it’s in your best interest to wait just a bit longer for a 4000/RX7000 card, or get a mid-range card from what’s currently available, especially now that prices are dropping.

Products like this, the 6950 XT (not as much since it’s a bit over half the price of this card), and even the high end CPUs from both AMD and Intel are too expensive to justify for gaming purposes. I’d strictly recommend this card only for those that don’t care about price (in that, we already expected to drop 5k on a gaming/workstation PC), or can leverage the card in rendering/content creation workloads.

Also, the 3x8pin adapter is annoying. We already had 3x8pin layouts on 3090 cards. The change to 12pin was too soon, and should’ve been left to launch on the 4000 Series. Or better yet, kept to the FE cards with AIBs still producing PCBs around the 6pin/8pin standard.

I understand why they’re doing it, but we have maybe 1-3 PSU options that come with the new PCIe 5. 0 standard out on the market. I could be wrong, there may be more, but since I primarily keep my builds in the SFF space, I hardly ever look at ATX sized power supplies.

Thankfully 750w and 850w SFX power supplies come with 3x8pin connections.

I was debating whether to replace my Titan RTX with one of the newer 3000 series cards. I read mixed reviews with some favoring one or the other but no clear winner. I use my PC primarily for Photo Video and sound editing and I do dabble in AI work as well.

When I visited the Best Buy site and saw that this was in stock at my local store I figured I’d give it a try. The first thing I noticed was the weight and overall sturdy build of the card. This thing is built like a tank.

I was a bit disappointed to see that it occupied 3 slots which meant I had to remove my Firewire card to make room. I have an older PC that I can use for firewire video capture as needed so not a huge deal.

Another thing that caught me off guard is the power connector as it is a new PCIe 5. 0 single connector capable of carrying much higher wattage than traditional PCIe cables. My power supply does not have a PCIe 5.

0 connector but Nvidia does include an adapter that breaks the 5. 0 connector out into 3 standard PCIe connectors. Unfortunately, the breakout cable is very short so I ended up with a clump of cables in the case right next to the card.

If the cable were a bit longer I could have routed it to the underside part of the case where it would be hidden and not obstruct case airflow. A breakout cable that just connected directly to 3 ports on the power supply would be even better although I know that those connectors are not always standard across power supply vendors so that may not be practical.

As 5. 0 power supplies become more readily available I will probably upgrade. So once installed I powered it up and the first thing I noticed was how quiet the card is compared to the Titan. The latter has an annoying whining sound that gets very loud at bootup and under heavy work load.

The 3090ti is nice and quiet. A quick driver update (which may not have even been necessary as the card seemed to work without issue using the Titan driver) and I was off to the races. I did some benchmark testing in the Adobe CC suite of apps and using DeepFaceLab for some AI tests both with the Titan prior to swapping and after with the 3090ti.

In almost all cases the 3090ti did better than the Titan and under AI workloads the Titan didn’t even come close. So if you are on the fence like I was I can say that through real world usage the 3090ti outperforms the Titan.

The only downside is that if you are looking to use dual cards to increase memory for AI type work this is much easier done with the Titan than the monstrous 3090ti. Not only would 2 of these bad boys occupy a whopping 6 slots but you would also need 6 PCIe power connectors and some serious case cooling.

If you have the case space and power availability you will not be disappointed with this card. It also comes with a hefty price tag although it was less than what I paid for my Titan by about $500. Plus I see people paying way more for this for the non ti version of the 3090.

I got this card in November of last year. It worked great for about a week and displayed crystal clear 4k in even the most demanding games and applications. I was impressed, to say the least, but then came the problems.

I first noticed some bad artifacting. Black lines ran across the screen, the left side of the screen would blank out, and eventually, applications started to freeze and blank out completely. I was disappointed, but I didn’t completely blame the 2080 TI just yet.

I tested the CPU, RAM, and even reinstalled Windows. When that didn’t fix things, I deleted and reinstalled the Nvidia drivers. Still, the same problems persisted and got worse over time. Eventually, even opening applications and running them in any resolution became nearly impossible.

I tried everything under the sun to make this product work until I finally decided to RMA it. Gigabyte took about two weeks to “test” and “fix” the product. When I got it back, it appeared not to have had a thing done to it, and upon booting the system up, the same issues immediately showed themselves.

Keep in mind that while the 2080 TI was off being fixed I used an entirely different GPU, which worked perfectly. I had zero errors or glitches with an outdated card, given it didn’t give me much performance.

I sent the card in once again under the impression that this time I would be sent a new one. What I received was a different card in my old box. It smelled like cigarettes and had a greasy substance on it.

I wasn’t happy, but hey, it had been months. I just wanted to finally use the thing I had spent my hard earned money on. I dealt with it and installed the supposedly brand new GPU. I downloaded all the drivers, and wouldn’t you know it.

The card worked well for about a week with only minor glitches. Then the same issues slowly but surely reared their head once again. As I type this, any application that is run for longer than about thirty minutes freezes or goes to a black screen.

Unplugging the HDMI from the GPU and replugging it works occasionally, but most of the time, restarting the computer or plugging it into the on-board card is the only option. I have put in a third RMA request, and it has been approved by Gigabyte.

Honestly, though, I don’t feel very hopeful. They haven’t emailed me a shipping label, and it’s been three days, thus adding to an already frustrating experience. My expectation is to either receive the same card with nothing done to it or another used and probably broken one.

I realize that some people have had a totally different experience and are blown away by the power of this GPU. I honestly wish that had been my experience, and I am seeing on other reviews that there is a high failure rate for this model.

Ask yourself something. Are you really willing to spend this kind of cash on a product that has a fifty percent chance of not working? Even more importantly, are you willing to deal with a company that doesn’t seem to want to make things right with their customers? I know if I could go back in time I would order a different model from any company other than Gigabyte.

I would give this negative stars if I could. Whatever you do, stay away! I can promise you it’s not worth the headache.

I had the 2080 version of this card and now having the TI version I can honestly say I’ll never buy anything but these Aorus waterforce cards. It was out of stock so I didn’t even think it was coming back and eventually it came back in and I had already purchased another card which came DOA.

So, I next day aired this card and extremely happy. It’s a work of art really, the sleek black plastic / metal design. It’s a statement to how much they care about their products. Not to mention a 4 year warranty when you sign the card up.

This thing doesn’t bat an eyelash at 4k on my 55 inch TV. So far 200+fps on Diablo, 50-60 in AC Odyssey. More to be tested but this card paired with a water-cooled i9 is just crazy. There’s no heat to be had either.

This thing stays at 50-60c. Worth 1300, yes I think so. People complain about the pricing yet do you even understand what you’re paying for? These cards were meant for people like me who know they want to play 4k steady frames.

Even more if you run at 1080p but these were made for 4k so don’t bother knocking the price. Totally worth it, just hard to justify spending that much. No one has 1300 in their pocket I get it, I didn’t lol.

Avoid EVGA RTX 2080-TI XC ultra. Had it almost 3 years. It caught fire and if it wasn’t for super quick thinking putting it out and pulling power cord with in a second of blue flame. Def had an electrical short localized to the Board.

3 stars for EVGA XC Ultra 4 stars for gounder edition. 5 stars for 3090.

The 2080Ti is an absolute beast. It performs circles around other cards. It’s the friggin psycho that murders other graphics cards and turns them into dolls so it can play games with them. I have on average 50% better performance than the 1080Ti and much better overclocking stability.

I slapped 100MHz onto the default core speed and 2. 2GHz onto the VRAM speed with no issues at all. The AIO is a godsend. It never reached 70C but it does make more noise than the LL120 fans I have cooling the case.

Recommend replacing the default fans with a couple quieter 120mm Noctua or Corsair fans. If you want Real Time rAy TrAcInG and unparalleled performance but haven’t the creativity for a custom cooling loop, but this.

Now. It will show you just how pathetic the rest of your system is. That processor you thought was hot sh!t? Garbage. Your fancy SSD? Useless. Funky glowing RAM? No.

I swear this graphics card runs AMAZING, and at the same time it is so silent. I have had it for about 1 month now and it works like a charm, I played Stranded Deep (A game of survival on an island that looks so realistic) at max settings and it was perfectly fine.

You could tell it was running because it was a tiny bit louder than before but then goes back to normal. I highly recommend this graphics card.

So i have it undervolted overclocked at. 87mv and 1905mhz!!! With +400 on memory playing 4k games with temps sitting at high 60’s. It is silent in my pc!!!! Worth the 666$ i paid all day! Stress testing the gpu frequency stayed up and max temp was 74 degrees after an hour with nstock fan curve!!! Its a good buy$$$$ for this price.

Its worth a purchase if you are chasing over 60fps @4k. Id consider a repaste if you are seeing high temps I used noctua paste and its happy now. Its thich 3 full slots but not nearly as wide as a strix or gaming x card.

Price is sadly high at the moment. Im using an r5 3600 as the cpu and generally getting as good or better performance than launch day reviews with faster cpu’s. Carde hates voltage ripple at least mine you may need a good psu upgade seasonic or fsp group platinum and up would be my suggestion.

I have an MSI GTX 970 Golden Edition still running strong-and this looks built to similar QA specs. This card has a three year warranty but with the thermals it should last 5-7 years or even longer-it runs cooler than any AMD card I have ever owned.

It hurts to pay so much over MSRP but at least the card has the look and feel of an expensive card to help justify the cost. Oh, and MSI’s software is second to none and is even used by people including myself with other cards.

It works. That said-no overclocking going to happen here for several years. I play on a 144p 144Hz monitor and no game I have can really tax this card at this resolution. BF1 maxed out was only using about ~60% of the GPU.

And that was a constant 140-150 FPS. No tweaking necessary other than maxing out settings in game. The real selling point of this card is the frame buffer and longevity-this will be great for CAD on a budget.

My 5700xt aged like fine wine and just this last month got a 10% uplift in performance with a driver update that enabled SAM. That kind of software update three years after release is really nice to see and made my decision to go with AMD easier.

I expect this card to get better with age. My son is super happy with his “new” 5700xt-and I am super happy with this. No aftermarket coolers needed!.

Great card, Stays cool. You DONT need Msi Dragon app, unless you want to modify the stock out of the box RGB lighting. Coming from a 2060super, this card was a significant improvement. I game on 1440, the 2060s played well at med settings, now im on ultra and seeing double the frame rate.

Depending on title, i can max my 165hz Omen 27i out on majority of titles. this GPU pairs well with 6core and better (Ryzen 3600), i personally paired it with a 3900x and a X570 To use the full potential of PCIe 4.

0 speeds. You CAN run this on a PCIe 3. 0 slot, there are a few YT videos showing just a slight reduction in speed, throughput and frames. Overall super happy with the card, picked it up on a flash sale for $769, although i cant figure out the “Original” MSRP of this card, im guessing it was around the $650 range on release day.

so slightly over MSRP is a deal. At current price today, its NOT worth 999, you can get a 6900xt at MSRP for that price. under $800 the card is a good value.

I purchased the Red Dragon 6800XT in November and it died in less than a month so I returned it back for the long 3 hour drive to Dallas. I didn’t think there were any GPUs left in the store when I went today but I was wrong.

There were tons of AMD GPUS. Not ONE RTX was to be found. I wasn’t going to chance it again with PowerColor so I went with MSI. As soon as I turned my system on I noticed a huge difference already. NO COIL WHINE AT ALL.

This MSI Trio 6800XT also runs much cooler than the RED DRAGON version by a lot. Also I can’t even hear the fans spinning when the GPU is under heavy load. At the time all that was at this microcenter in Dallas was the POWERCOLOR models.

Being a pilot myself, and an IT specialist, I’ve always been a MSFS nerd/enthusiast ever since Flight Simulator for Windows 95! I’ve always built my rigs around the current MSFS platform so that I could run MSFS with all of the graphics settings cranked up to max for best possible immersion/performance I could get from the Sim.

This card is a reflection of that on my new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 PC build! My build started with a Core i9 10850 (ASUS ROG MB), 64GB Corsair RAM and EVGA 850 Watt PS. But I was still using my old GTX1070 graphics card.

I wasn’t paying the ridiculous prices for the current cards. Well finally just recently, with the prices coming back down, I decided to jump! I had two cards in my Microcenter Wishlist that I was watching: The RTX3080 (12GB) and the RTX3080Ti.

When I got to my local Microcenter, I briefly quizzed the sales rep on the two cards I debated on. He quickly offered that unless I was planning on running MSFS in VR (specifically, at 4K), the 3080Ti would be an unnecessary, additional expense.

So, I went with this EVGA RTX3080 FTW3 Ultra (12GB) as I haven’t yet succumbed to VR completely; and additionally saved myself a decent chunk of change. 😛 I am absolutely not regretting that decision! I am running all graphics settings in MSFS2020 at Ultra and this card is EASILY keeping up with the frame limiter locked at 30FPS! With it off I was getting 60-70 FPS! (The human eye can only distinguish up to 30FPS anyway, so I leave it locked at 30 to convert this card’s remaining processing power to smoothness in the Sim).

The 12GB of VRAM on this card doesn’t hurt either as MSFS is VRAM hungry! In conclusion, I’m quite happy with is card; it is a BEAST though. Probably want to check the specs of your case before you go with it.

I have a Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB case and it fits easily. If you’re a MSFS enthusiast and aren’t centered on running strictly in VR (at 4K); this card will not disappoint you at all! I give it my MSFS approval.

This is a monster of a card. Well coming from someone who upgraded from a 1070, this card is huge. The card is built well. I like how EVGA always makes and presents their products as premium and well built.

I would recommend though that you have either good air flow into your case or water cool this card, as she can run hot. I have mine in a Phanteks 500A ARGB and the stock fans have no problems providing enough air flow to the GPU’s fans to keep this card under 60 c under load.

It is a heavy card, so having a gpu bracket or something to balance it would be a plus. It is also quite wide. I had a Lian Li o11 (standard) and the cables that came with my new power supply were rigid, which made it impossible to install this card with the glass on.

If your power supply has very flexible cables or you are using custom sleeves, then it should not be a problem. It was just one thing I found. Others have said that they did not have any problems like I did, so I am not sure if it my motherboard sits a bit further out then theirs with the support bolts.

All in all this a great card. Mine did not come with the plastic red border at the end of the card that appeared in youtube reviews. Mine is just black. The rgb on this card is solid. I am not big on rgb, but it makes the card stand out nicely.

Overall, a solid card. If Ray Tracing or 4k with ray tracing is your meta. then go Nvidia this gen. However, at this point, FOR ME (owning both the 3080 and 6950xt). i would recommend the 6900xt or 6950xt over the 3080 through 3090ti.

UNLESS, most of the games you play utilize ray tracing. Doubly so if you play a lot of ray tracing games at 4k, where these RTX cards really shine. Im sure the fanboys will attack me for this, but right now.

the 6900xt and 6950xt just make more sense. My 6950xt gives me 97% of 3090ti performance, for nearly $1000 less. The value per $ factor here is a big one for me. Thus, while a great card, especially at 4k and RT performance, i would not recommend over the AMD alternatives at the moment.

That said, i am enjoying this card, and seeking out more games with ray tracing to try and take full advantage of its strengths over my 6950xt. I really love the way it looks and i WISH EVGA made cards for AMD.

I have absolutely adored EVGA since the 8800gtx days, i still have the card and it still runs. Will you regret buying it? Nope. But, just be aware that there are, IMO, better alternatives out there for the $.
