A vegetable peeler is a kitchen tool used to remove the skin or peel from vegetables. It consists of a handle attached to a blade that is sharpened on one side. The blade is usually made of stainless steel or carbon steel.
There are two main types of vegetable peelers: the Y-shaped peeler and the straight peeler. The Y-shaped peeler has a Y-shaped blade that is sharpened on both sides. This type of peeler is more versatile and can be used on a variety of vegetables.
The straight peeler has a straight blade that is only sharpened on one side. This type of peeler is better suited for peeling tougher vegetables, such as potatoes.
The vegetable peeler was invented in the early 19th century by a French chef named Antonin Carême. Carême is credited with inventing many of the modern cooking techniques that are still used today.
You’ll find excuses to peel fruits and vegetables when you own this state-of-the-art peeler. It glides smoothly along the surface of produce, allowing you to peel effortlessly. It is also comfortable to hold in either hand, with a unique handle design that lets you grip the peeler with ease.
Convenient hook lets you hang your peeler for easy access and storage. Clean up is a breeze since it is dishwasher safe. Best of all, the Stainless Steel twin blades stay ultra sharp and are backed by a Lifetime Guarantee.
This peeler is great. I have gone through so many peelers. This peeler has a nice weight, it peels the skin off a cucumber in one fellow swoop and it never gets stuck. It is made well and has a good weight in the hand.
It’s sturdy and fits in the hand nicely. I have arthritis, so some peelers are difficult for me to use, not this one. It accomplishes the job without being too hard on my hands. It is very durable and washes easy.
I have a bad habit of washing things and leaving them on the mat to dry, this peeler has showed no signs of rust either. I would really recommend it.
The OXO rotary peeler has a sharp stainless steel blade for easy and economical peeling of firm fruit and vegetables such as apples and potatoes. At the tip is an additive for removing potato eyes. OXO handles are made of Santoprene and therefore as comfortable as possible and suitable for the dishwasher and latex-free.
Santoprene is a process rubber that feels velvety soft and does not become brittle on contact with cooking oil. The material is particularly suitable for the flexible “ribs” on the “Good Grips” handles.
The flexibility of Santoprene allows the ribs to bend under pressure and adapt to the grip of the fingers for greater comfort and control. And because Santoprene is non-slip, your fingers stay in control even when the handle or hands are wet.
Don’t get me wrong, this product works VERY well, but TOO well! I’m a skilled cook & not new in the kitchen; I don’t typically injure myself while cooking but things happen. I cut my fingertip the first time I used this peeler so deeply I needed stitches.
It slides like butter & is EXTREMELY sharp. My brother, who is also a very skilled cook, was over for supper & offered to peel the potatoes because I refused to use this peeler again. Even after seeing my injury & taking extra precaution, HE CUT HIS FINGER in the same exact spot, the same exact way also needing stitches!!! I never leave negative reviews but I just wanted to warn people.
If you purchase this product (because, again, it works VERY WELL), please be VERY VERY VERY CAREFUL!!!.
Just before Christmas 2019, I went to my cutlery drawer to get my trusty peeler to peel the spuds for dinner and couldnt find it. Gutted. How can something like that have disappeared After interrogating the kids to find out if theyve used it for a random weird project and still drew a blank, Ive had to order a new one of these.
Id had one of these peelers for many years now. I find it easy and comfortable to hold, its sharp so neatly peels the skin of assorted root veg very easily with minimal effort. Ive got various other styles from I cant even recall where from but this is my go to.
I can peel a stack of spuds for Sunday lunch for 8 people in no time at all. It claims to peel even the toughest fruit vegetable skins. Some of the fruit Ive peeled include oranges, lemons and butternut squash yes butternut squash is a fruit and that was easy to do.
Ive also peeled all the normal sort of veg youd expect, spuds, carrots, swede, parsnips, etc. All were pretty easy to peel. The handle shape is slightly elliptical so it doesnt spin around in your hand.
Its also made of a type of very grippy rubber that has a series of slits along the length of it. This gives you a very sure hold on it whilst peeling and makes it easy to manipulate it to peel even those gnarly shaped ugly vegetables that suddenly went trendy after Jamie Jimmy made us sad about only buying straight and regular shaped veg.
The product blurb says wont slip, even when wet. I can verify that this is true. Its still supergrippy even when its wet, my hand is wet or theyre slick with potato. waterstarchjuiceslightly white wet stuff you get off peeled potatoes.
Its symmetrical in shape with blades on both sides. Im righthanded but I dare say that it would work just as well for someone lefthanded. Ive not had an opportunity to get any of my lefthanded friends to peel my veg to verify this though.
The end of the peeler as a small, sharpish, plastic scoop type feature, the eye remover. That sounds a bit grim so Ive not done that but its great at removing the minging black bits on potatoes. I can confirm that years of use and going through the dishwasher hasnt harmed it in the slightest.
Before my original one randomly went on walkabout, its been through the dishwasher countless times and always looked as good as new. Both my original one and this new one came with a small plastic cover to go over the metal blade section of the peeler the business end.
This is fine but frankly irritating when its just lying about on your work top until youre emptying the dishwasher. I never put it back on my original one and despite being in a drawer with all manner of other utensils, it never got damaged or the blade nicked so I dont think its necessary for the protection of the peeler.
It has the aforementioned big rubbery handle. Just as thats great for holding it securely, its also great for picking it up so Ive also never gut, scraped or nicked my finger with the blade either. I can therefore only conclude that its to keep it all shiny and nice during transit.
Ive therefore sent the peeler sheath in the way of the first one, into the bin. As mentioned, I keep it in a drawer rather than use the large inhandle hole to hang it on something. Im sure you could use it for that but I prefer to hang photos, paintings and maybe a clock on a wall, not vegetable peeling kitchen utensils.
I highly recommend this product if you want to peel fruit and veg.
I bought this peeler after getting tired of the really cheap ones breaking after a very short time and thought it was time to look for something a bit better. The reviews were good and the price was fairly low too, so I thought it would be ideal.
And I must say Im impressedI like the chunky grip, it feels like a good quality item. And its sharp too It peels through many things effortlessly. Potatoes, carrots, and as I just found out, fingers Didnt even feel it.
Its amazing how long it takes a peeled thumb to stop bleeding. So while Im standing in my kitchen after applying a large plaster and a makeshift tournequet, with my arm raised high above my head wondering how long this is going to take to clot, I figured Id pass the time writing on here how impressed I am with the awesome power of this peeler.
Pro tip learn from my mistakes. Peel away from your body and keep your fingers out of its way. I escaped with my life and most of my limbs intact this time. You might not be so lucky.
Very happy with my recent purchase. I’ve heard great things about pampered chef but never have I own a piece of their named product. I wanted to go simple with my very first purchase and I couldn’t be more pleased.
I purchased three paring knifes, a vegetable peeler and a liquid and dry measuring cylinder/cup. The paring knifes are light in weight, nice non slip grip and most of all the blade is very sharp. It’s well designed and balanced and I can already see it will simplify and increase my cooking efficiency.
The vegetable peeler is replacing one I have that’s lost it’s safety feeling. The new vegetable peeler I can tell I will have for the rest of my cooking days. It’s really well made. The measuring tool I called a cylinder/cup is exactly that.
It’s a two sided measuring tool. It’s very hard to explain how it works but I can say I was intrigued by the design. My kitchen doesn’t have ample storage Space so when I find a item that serves two purposes in one, I am all over it and wanting to find out more.
Take my word, it’s a great value and I am super pleased with all my purchases. Thank you Suzanne!.
At first this peeler was a dream come true, until it wasn’t. Like many other people, I have tried so many peelers and thought I had found “the one”. Wrong. At first it was great, peeling smoothly and consistently with each peel.
Then, as I used it more frequently, the whole thing swiveled more, became looser and harder to manage and wasn’t peeling anything. So, I’m back to using my old school, all metal, a little dull but consistent 20 year plus peeler.
What a waste. I bought 3 items with my order and have only kept 1. the ice cream scoop is amazing at least. Of course, I didn’t have problems in the first 30 days so I’m out of luck on returning. Be careful on his long you try your peeler or you’ll be stuck too.
I bought this peeler less than a year ago and it fell apart this week. Super disappointing. I got it because another peeler I have from them has been excellent and I’ve had it for years. I needed two, so why not go with a sure win, or so I thought.
This one was much cheaper in feel and appearance, but I hoped it would be as good. Unfortunately, it was not.
The Rada Cutlery Deluxe Vegetable Peeler will make your kitchen peeling tasks a breeze. It has a surgical quality, high carbon stainless steel blade that measures 2 inches. The overall length of this vegetable and potato peeler is 8-3/8 inches.
The Deluxe Vegetable Peeler shines when it comes to peeling larger vegetables such as corn on the cob or eggplant, as well as when performing lengthy peeling tasks, such as preparing foods for canning.
It is also equally as effective when peeling smaller foods like carrots, cucumbers, or potatoes. The dual edged, swivel design blade means that it is suitable for both right and left handed cooks. The shape ensures that the peeling motion can go towards or away from you with equal effectiveness.
All of this adds up to faster, easier peeling. You’ll have your meal prepared in record time! Black handle: The handle is comprised of a black stainless steel resin that can be washed in the dishwasher.
Hand washing fine cutlery is recommended but the black handle is dishwasher tolerant.
My sister has owned and loved the Rada stainless line of knives for a number of years. I have often admired them and thought if I were to replace my knives. I would consider Rada. I needed to replace my potato peeler, and thought, this would be an opportunity to begin replacing my cutlery.
It has been everything I hoped it would be. I will be purchasing additional Rada Cutlery in the future. Thank You.
Highly recommend this peeler; it is the best. It removes the peel better that other peelers. The aluminum handle looks nicer than this plastic handle, but the aluminum handle peeler cannot be put in the dishwasher or the handle turns dark from the strong detergent.
Absolutely great product. This is my second one only because the first was lost moving. I will never buy any other vegetable peeler except this one. Next I want some knives. The tomato knife I have from Rada is indispensable.
This best-selling peeler has a featherweight design, and heavyweight performance. Razor-sharp carbon steel blades tackle fruits, vegetables and potatoes with minimum fuss. It also has a convenient integrated potato eye remover and is ergonomically designed to fit in the left or right hand.
This set comes with three straight bladed peelers in red, green and yellow. Made in Switzerland. Carbon steel blade starts sharper, stays sharper. Works in right or left hand. Convenient potato eye remover.
Not for children – super sharp! Hand wash – dry thoroughly after cleaning.
As with any fine kitchen tool, hand wash and towel dry after each use.
Not for children – blade is very sharp. Peel away from your hands. Improper use may result in injury.
Reviews From Real Customers
I’ve used, and often marveled at the Kühn Rikon plastic handle Swiss peeler for two decades; and in fact, I still own my original one that I purchased for $2 back in 1999. When I changed careers, and attended culinary school in 2004, I noticed that every commercial kitchen setting in which I worked, had one of these in a drawer somewhere.
For hand peeling, they are the industry standard. So, when I saw the new stainless version of the Kühn Rikon Swiss peeler, I was all in! It is true that this device is THE BEST peeler of its style. There are other brands, including a variety of cheap Chinese-made junk available, but don’t be fooled; there is only one original Kühn Rikon Swiss peeler.
I’ve noticed another respected manufacturer now offers a copy of the veritable plastic peeler; but nothing is as good as this Stainless Kühn Rikon Swiss peeler. The upgraded stainless blade is super sharp; so please be careful! Certainly, this product has my recommendation for purchase.
in fact, I am presenting one to my fellow “foodie,” youngest daughter with one for her birthday. Many may think this an odd gift; but certainly not a foodie!.
What a fantastic peeler. I didn’t know how amazing life could be until I purchased this, and now I can die happily. I don’t know what is more extraordinary, the aesthetically appealing design or the brilliant craftsmanship in the blade.
My potatoes taste better, lemon peels are more vibrant, and it’s all thanks to the makers of Kuhn and the handsome staff at knifewear.
Best peeler I’ve ever had. I’ve had one of these for decades and wanted a new one. None of the other brands worked well and I took a shot to see if this one was still being made. It was and I quickly ordered it.
Stays sharp and easy to hold while peeling. I highly recommend it.
KitchenCraft Peeling potatoes courgettes cucumbers and carrots have never been so easy. This ergonomic peeler slots onto your middle finger and curves inside your palm to provide you with a comfortable controlled grip as you peel.
Glide it over fruits and vegetables to remove skins quickly and easily with the super sharp stainless steel blades. The blade guard keeps fingers safe and the blade nice and sharp for longer and the protective case does the same when in storage.
This is an awesome little device! You will never feel the same about peeling potatoes again. I initially saw this peeler at my nieces house but my local Bed Bath and Beyond never had it in stock so I finally ordered online and absolutely love it! No kitchen should be without it! I assure you won’t be disappointed as it fits comfortably in the hand and effectively and efficiently skins a variety of fruits and vegetables!.
This is my second Palm Peeler. I purchased one many years ago and ended up giving it to a friend because she loved it. Went to C&B to pick one up and at that time you weren’t offer them. So I put in a product request and sooo happy to know that you have them now.
So it’s always a must have that I like to purchase. Easy to use, glides and it’s faster than any other peeler I’ve had!.
The way I can hold this in my hand gives me more control over where the blades are going! I used to have to find the end of a fingernail when I used the “stick” kind of peeler. The best part is I get the perfect angle which makes peeling much easier.
The Good Cook Peeler features a swivel-action blade that adjusts to many different types of food: potatoes, cucumbers, carrots and more. This peeler also features an eye remover on the tip to remove less desirable pieces.
The Good Cook Peeler is easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
This plastic fruit and vegetable peeler by Good Cook works like a charm. The handle fits comfortably in my hand and it can effectively peel the skin of a wide variety of produce. It is sharp and I can easily remove eyes from potatoes and blemishes from the surfaces of apples, cucumbers, pears, and other produce.
This kitchen gadget is lightweight and it makes peeling my fruits and vegetables such a breeze. I like the fact that it is sturdy and is dishwasher safe.
This is a lifesaver I cantThis is a lifesaver I cant remember if its a Walmart brand I think its a good cooker but its awesome. This is a very, very excellent vegetable peeler. I used to have one like this and it somehow disappeared. I have purchased about a dozen vegetable peelers since and thrown them all away because they did not peel decent.
This one you can go both directions on a carrot and peel that carrot in record speed. The blades are very sharp and the swivel in the handle is perfect. A PERFECT VEGETABLE PEELER. Thank you for offering such a good peeler.
The original peeler , all metal sharp too , I almost forgot how sharp this thing is once we use it we take it for granted that it peels pretty much everything that needs peeling, and for how many years we have this in the kitchen drawers.
If yours seem dull sharpen it or get a new one , its so much easier when its new and sharp. Had the cheap one that has a plastic body on it and I hated it , that I hated peeling things. It is now easy and less thinking when peeling.
Peel veggies and fruits faster than ever with this Y shaped peeler from OXO. Like all OXO products, this peeler is designed with comfort and function in mind, and the soft handle cushions your hand and is non slip, so you can peel with ease even with wet hands.
A sharp, stainless steel blade will make quick work of your potatoes and carrots, and the little digger on the side is perfect for removing unwanted spots on potatoes.
Started having carpel tunnel, trigger fingers and thumb arthritis in the last few years and was having great difficulty peeling Butternut Squash with my current peeler. Watched some cooking videos which suggested a wide peeler.
This OXO Good Grips Y-Peeler effortlessly slid over the skin of a butternut squash and didn’t snag on the skin, even going over the curve of the squash. I like how this peeler is so sharp it doesn’t peel deep, wasting a lot of usable squash.
This peeler felt comfortable in my hand and caused no pain, pressure or resistance. When you’ve been excessively cooking like me for over 30 years, it’s imperative to have the proper kitchen tools to compensate for age and overuse issues.
This has to be the worst peeler ever. I can’t believe that the manufacturer would even put this on the market. I purchased it last week and haven’t had the opportunity to use it until this morning and it was so bad that I had to make a review to warn people.
I used it to peel an apple and was so disappointed! It only peels in little bitty pieces. I wouldn’t have paid two cents for it if I had used it prior to purchasing. It’s bad, real bad. I really don’t understand the other good reviews, at all.
This is a very good vegetable peeler. It was a dream in peeling potatoes. I think I picked it up at Walmart and it was pricey, but at the time I just wanted something that wouldn’t break at the first turnip.
This is a great product. However, the handle is wide and I have small hands to begin with. Add in a bit of arthritis and it became difficult to use it. So I had to get one that had a thinner handle.
Peel a variety of fruits and vegetables comfortably with the help of this OXO peeler set. Stainless steel serrated blades ensure lasting quality. These peeler glides through tough ingredients with ease.
Julienne blade creates perfect strips for toppings. Nonslip handles with comfortable grips provide safe use. What’s Included 7-in. swivel peeler 7-in. serrated peeler 6-in. Color: Multicolor. Gender: Unisex.
Age Group: Adult. Material: /Polypropylene/Stainless Steel.
I received these about a week ago and have been looking for reasons to julienne. The set of OXO peelers is exactly as advertised. The action on the veggie peeler is so smooth, the blade is very sharp.
The julienne peeler is fun and makes salad making more fun. Can’t wait for tomato and peach season to use my soft fruit peeler. If you handle a lot of veggies you will love these tools. And they are easy on the hands like all OXO products.
These peelers work very well. Dishwasher safe and easily stored. I especially love the one for softer fruits like peaches and tomatoes. I have never had one like it before, just struggled with a regular peeler.
The julienne peeler works better when pulling toward you. The tip is not the best because it is plastic, not as efficient like the metal one on my old peeler. Figure they will work for quite a while until the blades dull enough to replace them.
Love this set. Its really good all 3 pieces. Very sharp, great handle grip and easy to clean. Rare find, wish they made more. My last version lasted 18 years until blades became dull & it went to recycling.

OXO 3 PC Prep Y Peeler Set Product details Measures 4. 2 x 4. 2 x 10. 5 inches 3 x straight all-purpose Japanese blades Rust resistant Non-slip ergonomic handles Looking For More OXO?.
This was the worst peeler I have ever come across. I had bought this and a bunch of kitchen utensils to form a basket as a gift for Christmas. I noticed the peeler was not use so I decided to open it and use it as I did not like my brothers peeler that he owned.
I could not peel anything, potatoes, carrots, zucchini, and any other vegetables you can think of peeling. What an absolute joke. It is a piece of garbage which is exactly why I threw it away. Not even owned for one day after opening.
My husband commented yesterday about how much he likes this peeler over our prior ones. We had a ceramic one that had similar head placement to handle but it seemed difficult to clean. It always looked stained.
When that one broke, we replaced with this one which has the same format but metal blade. My husband commented on wanting to buy a backup just in case it breaks or wears out because of how much he likes it.
Having reliable peelers in the kitchen is something you usually don’t think about while prepping or preparing meals. I never considered it. Usually, I am the person that peels all my fruits and vegetables with a paring knife when needed.
Although this method is an effective way to peel fruits and vegetables, I started to experience some setbacks. Peeling large amounts of fruits and vegetables with a paring knife began to hurt my hand and became time consuming—especially when trying to make quick meals.
The OXO Good Grips 3-Piece Assorted Prep Peeler Set is really a great help in the kitchen. These peelers have comfortable non-slip handles that don’t hurt your hands. Each peeler is nicely color coded and performs a different peeling technique.
Depending on the peeler, one can get either a straight (gray), julienne (yellow) or serrated (red) peel. Having these peeling options available keeps you prepared for any peeling job. The blades are sharp and made with Japanese Stainless Steel.
When I washed the blades either by hand washing or dishwasher, they didn’t become dull or rusty. Plus, I save a good amount of time with the peelers. Unlike before, I can now peel things quickly without having to worry about time.
Highly recommend the OXO Good Grips 3-Piece Assorted Prep Peeler Set!.
OXO took the best features from their original, iconic peelers and incorporated them into the comfortable, y-peeler design. Each Peeler has an easy-to-manoeuvre shape tailor-made for effortless prep—No matter the fruit or vegetable.
Sharp, rustproof, Japanese stainless steel blades are built for precision, while ergonomic handles and compact design fit nicely in your hand (and kitchen drawers). The OXO signature grips will never slip, even when wet.
Dishwasher-safe construction means you’ll reach for these Peelers for years to come.
So many vegetable peelers I have used take off too much for the vegetable itself and the waste kills me! This peeler has the perfect depth to each shave so that you take off the outer skin while taking a minimum of the inner vegetable/fruit.
Use it all the time and still going strong. I haven’t used the serrated peeler as much so I appreciate the built in safety cover so I don’t get accidentally stabbed when it’s languishing in the drawer.
I love the blade and how it peels with easy however, at the blade end it has one side that extends out much further than the other which makes it extremely difficult to peel large produce such as squash.
I’ve even had difficulty peeling our larger garden potatoes. I end up resorting back to my old school peeler in order to get all the peels off. If I hadn’t destroyed all the packaging, I would have returned it for the other brand that doesn’t have the protruding edge.
These peelers are super sharp so make sure to keep those plastic guards on when not in use. They are comfortable to hold, even when hands are wet. Blades show no sign of rust, maintain a sharp edge. Machine washable is a plus, although some stuck bits might survive the dishwasher cycle.
Tips: For the Julien blade, first flatten out the surface of the vegetable. Pierce it with a fork to gain leverage. Apply at least double the pressure you apply with the other two tools. -1 star for flimsy safety covers and relatively difficult use of the julienne peeler.
Using a Y-shaped peeler, you can easily peel potatoes and clean vegetables. The peeler retains the natural aroma and flavour of foods. The elegant red-black peeler has an ergonomically shaped handle with a stainless steel insert that ensures comfortable use.
The peeler is very sturdy, durable and dishwasher-safe. It has a long service life. Made of nylon and fibreglass, it is 100% safe. Get this practical kitchen tool that will make peeling so much easier.
TranslateShow in original languageTrès bon produit. Un seul petit défaut pour moi : le manche de cet éplucheur est un peu trop court. L’ancien modèle que je possédais avait un manche plus long et était davantage ergonomique.
Be it fruits, veggies or even some chocolate shavings – our compact and streamlined Peeler turns these tasks into child’s play. While its clever system ejects the peel backwards to go directly into the trash, its compact and easy-to-clean design will quickly turn it into a favorite in any household.
And thanks to its ultrasharp blade, the Peeler works well on all sorts of produce, even tougher customers like asparagus.
Forget all the other peelers you’ve ever used. Forget all the times you’ve accidentally cut your thumb. Scraped your knuckles. Or just couldn’t get a peeler to do the job it was made for. This unique peeler design is easy to use.
Easy to hold. Easy to peel with. And easy to keep clean and sharp. It does everything a peeler should do.
This peeler is superb in every respect. Easy to use and amazingly efficient, it is lightweight highly balanced and ergonomic. Peels any vegetable in seconds. Also useful for shaving thin vegetable slices, e.
OXO Good Grips Julienne Peeler has a stainless steel blade that glides effortlessly through your of vegetables and fruit – saving you both time and effort. Perfect for garnishes, citrus zesst for savoury and dessert dishes, salad toppings and more.
With an easy-grip rubber handle that fits ergonomically in the hand. The clear safety cover curves out of the way as you peel and locks back into place safely and securely after use.
I cook stir fry, I like the carrots nice thin crunchy and has the four sides, its extremely time consuming and quite dangerous when making it like that with the good old chef’s knife. I was wasting around 12 mins every day just for preparing the carrots.
Until I got sick of it and needed a solution to make my carrot preparing less hectic and time consuming. You have the food processor, but that too is time consuming just to slice the carrots into thin strips due to cleaning the food processor and the food processor doesn’t make perfect four sided thin strips.
This strip peeler is excellent, does the job very well. Worked well at first try. I got nice long thin four sided carrot strips. Easy to clean and prepared in few seconds, I just saved 12 mins of my life.
This is a wonderful addition to my kitchen tools. I love to cook noodles or rice with sautéed vegetables and this makes preparing the carrots and courgette so easy. Highly recommend. Sharp serrated end so need to be careful while washing and best to keep the plastic cap on when not in use.
This product is so good I cannot imagine how I did without it. I bought an expensive spiralizer from one of the shopping channels on TV and was very disappointed with how difficult if was to keep the veg in place and the pressure you need to cut the vegetables.
I ended up sending the spiralizer back. So, I looked on Amazon and saw this OXO for sale. Much cheaper than a spiralizer, so I decided to order one. It is so easy to use, no pressure required, and the courgette spaghetti is so easy to do.
I managed to get a large pile of spaghetti out of one courgette that cost 30p, the same in the local supermarket is packaged and on sale for 1. 25. I recommend this product 100 give it a go, you wont be disappointed.
Peeling big vegetables doesn”t have to be a big task with the help of the OXO 11244500 Large Y-Peeler. Whether you”re peeling butternut squash, eggplant, or even if you”re shredding cabbage, the wide blade and Y-peeler shape makes the task smooth and simple.
OXO took their iconic peeler and adapted it for this specific task, with a new compact design and easy-to-maneuver shape. The sharp, Japanese stainless steel blades will never rust, and the non-slip handle will keep you going until the job is done.
Dishwasher safe. This item measures. 85 inches by 4. 5 inches by 8 inches.
This product was obtained without charge by me and I have written my view in connection with my participation in the my John Lewis Review Programme. First of all, this peeler is extremely wide – almost twice the width of a normal peeler.
That said, it doesn’t peel any faster as the things you are peeling are curved (e. g. potatoes, carrots, etc. ). If you were peeling flat objects (e. g. chocolate bars to make chocolate curls) then yes it would be a good job, but for day to day use it is no better than a standard peeler.
It does say on the packaging that you can use it to shred cabbage for salads and coleslaw – admittedly I did not try this but to be honest it would be far quicker just chopping cabbage with a knife than attacking it with this peeler.
It is extremely sharp though, so be very careful using it. The handle to me feels very flat and short in my hand. I like to feel that I have a secure grip on a peeler, and when using this I did not feel like I had a secure hold of it and ended up holding it really tightly.
I think an ergonomist needs to look at the design of it – in my opinion it needs to be a little longer and more rounded and chunkier to be a better fit to your hand and enable you to hold it better. I don’t think it represents value for money, it is many more times the cost of a standard peeler and doesn’t perform any better at all.
I haven’t used it since my trial of it and have gone back to using my standard peeler as it feels more comfortable and safer to use. I do like the colour of it and it is well made and appears to be a quality item that should last a long time.
This is the first time that I have used this style of peeler. My previous peeler was an old fashioned straight peeler, so it took a few goes to get used to the using the Y-shaped handle, and finding the most effective way of peeling different vegetables.
There is no doubt that this peeler is sharp. It glides easily through the skin on potatoes and carrots. Carrots and other straight or flat vegetables peel easily because they are flat. Potatoes are however a but more tricky, particularly smaller potatoes.
Peeling the curved surfaces requires small repeated cuts, which is more awkward and fiddly. You have to watch your fingers near the long blade. The peeler actually feels too big for the job. Additionally, I feel that the peeler takes off quite a thick layer of skin, certainly thicker than my previous peeler.
After peeling carrots, I am left with significantly more peelings than I am used too. It feels quite wasteful. I have tried using the peeler with very light pressure to try to reduce the amount of vegetable peeled away, but it has little effect.
In summary, well made and very sharp, but sometimes awkward to use and wasteful.
I really like this peeler. Not only does it cover a wider area, it is so sharp the peel is almost transparent. Be warned though, I was peeling potatoes when my finger got sliced. It bled all over the place, the only person to help me was my very good friend, who gets woozy at the sight of blood.
So there was me blood everywhere, I told my friend I wasn’t hurt that it just looked bad because the fingers have many blood capillaries at the tip of the fingers. Did not help I was losing her to the land of nod, she managed to grab the first aid box.
This incident was so silly, it played out like a scene you would expect Lucy and Edith play out. Back to the peeler, it is a great addition to my kitchen essentials.

Brilliant Peeler. Bought several different makes over the years but this one beats all the others. Peeling vegetables no longer a chore, its so quick. Just be aware the blade is sharp. Definitely recommend.
Nothing peels faster and safer than this product. I just lay my potatoes and carrots down over a flat surface and peel away. Since you are pressing and peeling over a solid surface, this is where the efficiency comes in.
This is much faster and safer than the standard peelers that run straight with your forearm since I have found that my left thumb and index finger often gets in contact with the blade while peeing with my right hand.
Nothing ruins a cooking experience than tending to a cut. The large ribbed rubber handle is stable and easy to hold. The price is not cheap compared to what you can buy a basic peeler for but the design of this product is excellent.
We rent condos when vacationing with our family, I pack this peeler along with some of my cutting knives as cooking essentials for meals when we are using their kitchens for cooked meals. After I am done with the peeling, I just rinse any residue off and throw it in my dishwasher for final cleaning.
I would reccomend this product if you cook with potatoes and carrots more than once a week.
Prep Serrated Peeler Perfect for delicate or tricky-to-peel producePeeling tomatoes doesn’t have to be a hassle. The OXO Good Grips Serrated Prep Peeler is gentle on soft produce like tomatoes, peaches, and kiwi, making the most delicate tasks easier than ever.
It’s our iconic peeler, but with a new compact design and easy-to-maneuver shape. The sharp, Japanese stainless steel blades will never rust, and the non-slip handle will keep you going until the job is done.
It is very difficult to find a julienne peeler that does not have a julienne blade part attached to the main blade. (You can understand what I am talking about only if you are looking at the actual product).
I bought this peeler online, as it was on sale. Previously I bought a julienne peeler which julienne blade eventually came apart so my julienne peeler became a regular peeler. Anyway I hope this one lasts longer than a few months.
The julienned pieces came out finer than I had expected but the peeler glides nicely and so far i like it.

Seeing the Victorinox brand I thought that these peelers would be great and bought them. These were a huge disappointment !!! Terribly design. A good peeler should have a sharp blade and a proper angle of contact so that the peeling feedback is smooth, effortless, consistent and efficient (should peel just a fine layer of the skin consistently rather than take out thicker chunks or miss spots).
There should be minimal jittery resistance or missed spots. This peeler was exactly opposite of that. There is no guidance or support from the peeler at all to hold or maintain the proper angle. 1) Too small.
2) The blade angle is not well set and one has to adjust the angle by tilting the wrist and hold a very precise position in order to peel anything at all. There is no guidance or support from the peeler at all to hold or maintain the proper angle.
3) The feel while peeling is very bad – mostly either gets stuck, or misses (does not peel) Trying to peel with this is a nightmare. Leaves you with an achy wrist and unpeeled produce. Absolutely uncharacteristic of the Victorinox brand which is known to create high quality, precision engineered products.
I bought this to replace my old Victorinox peeler which I have used almost every single day since catering college almost 40 years ago! This new one is an identical blade but now made with a plastic handle instead of a wooden one.
It works like a dream, glides through potato peel and any other vegetables. I cannot recommend this product highly enough.
I’m not a professional, just an ordinary person, not even much of a cook, but I’m on a potato diet and was looking for a peeler similar to one we had at home in the 1950s. This feels good in the hand.
It peels a bit thicker than I was expecting, but I may just need to get used to how I angle it. I have another blade peeler but it’s sharp and I frequently cut myself with it. I’m not as much at risk with this one.
I like the gouging point for potato eyes etc. Just need to be careful when I use the point; but in peeling it seems to stay out of the way. Overall, I’m happy with it. I searched all over before I found anything similar to what I had in mind.
The vegetable peeler is one of the most versatile and essential tools in the kitchen. Whether you’re peeling potatoes, carrots, apples, or squash, a good vegetable peeler will make the job easier and faster.
There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a vegetable peeler. First, consider the type of blade. A straight blade is best for firm vegetables like potatoes, while a serrated blade is better for softer vegetables like tomatoes.
Second, consider the handle. A comfortable handle is important for preventing fatigue, and a peeler with a built-in finger guard is a good option for safety.
Finally, think about the price. Vegetable peelers range in price from a few dollars to over $100. While the most expensive peelers may have features that are nice to have, they’re not necessarily essential.
A good vegetable peeler can be found at any price point.
When it comes to using a vegetable peeler, practice makes perfect. Start with firm, even pressure and use a light touch. For safety, always keep the blade pointed away from your body. And when you’re done peeling, be sure to wash the blade and handle thoroughly to prevent bacteria from building up.
With a little practice, you’ll be peeling like a pro in no time!
