I purchased the product to use in wine making, will attempt to render yeast inactive with one? or two? trips through the light chamber. Because UV light kills yeast this looked like a viable solution to avoid use of sulfur dioxide or other chemical yeast-o-cides.
The product looks very well built and will last the rest of my life easily given the limited use it will receive, Thank you for a great product at a good price.

I took the time to do my research. seeking alternatives to softener & filtration systems for well water. I settled on Pelican for several reasons: 1) American made. Although a few components are made in Canada, the majority of this product is made in the USA.
2) Long term maintenance costs are manageable. The cost for the system up front was a bit higher than other similar systems, where Pelican won out is in the long term maintenance. Compared to other systems I’ve found that may be cheaper up front, you basically have to replace all the components every 5 years or so! 3) The sales person was knowledgeable, admitted when he didn’t have an answer, researched and followed up with the answers, and worked to give me the best price around.
4) While installing, I found the directions simple, yet detailed. The install was pretty straight forward and logical, and the end results were clean and polished (quite literally!). 5) So far the performance is as I hoped it would be.
No spotting on the dishes, showers don’t feel “slimy”, and clothes wash clean and white with out any tangible hardness buildup (really important for cloth diapers and towels!). If you are looking for an all-in-one system, then this is it!.

This UV-3 water filtration system combines high-quality sediment filtration and coconut shell carbon block filtration, with the added level of ultra-violet (UV) water treatment to provide a powerful, protective home water filtration package.
This system features a compact, space-saving under-counter design, with a long reach, dedicated, chrome, filtered water faucet. Ultra-violet water filtration is achieved by using ultra-violet lamps. Water is routed through a chamber or housing that contains the UV Lamp, as the water passes the UV lamp, the microbes in the water are exposed to the UV rays and the microbes are then renderd inactive.
Due to the UV component of this water filtration system, a standard 110-volt outlet is required.
I replaced the older Watts 4 stage RO System that was in the house I purchased! the 4 Stage system has a collection tank and also has to filter and dump the water twice before it is useable, the tank only held apprx.
2 1/2 gals. very low water pressure because of the 4 filters/ ice maker and Frig. did not receive enough water to make ice cubes or provide drinking water. I reconfigured suppy line and 2 stage System increased pressure and flow rate.
I disregarded the China made hardware in the box (Watts states system is made in USA?) why use foreign parts. I now can fill 16 oz. drink glass in 40 sec.
We installed this water filter system the first week of August. We loved it! Now, we are at the end of September, and the water is tasting like “city” water again. The description originally stated that filters only needed to be replaced every six months.
We are very disappointed, since we are only at the 7 week period. We replaced our other water filter for the same reason. We may be going back to bottled water, as frequent filter replacement is not what we planned on!.
This is replacing a Westinghouse brand double under-sink filter kit almost identical to this new one. The one I replaced developed a pin-hole leak in the horizontal portion of the housing, producing an extremely fine water mist leak that wasn’t detected until we finally found wet/ruined items in our basement.
And the leak was at the back-side of the filter housing, then dripping down the inside of the kitchen cabinet and on into the basement. Fun stuff. So much for the old one. As far as the new filter system, it is a Watts Premier brand and works well and the water taste is improved as we’re on a rural water system.
I like the filter’s ability to filter out lead in addition to the other mentioned things it removes. What I really like is the price Sam’s has for the 2-pack of replacement filters (1 sediment/1lead etc).
It’s much cheaper than local large brick & mortar stores. I used to buy them from Sam’s online some years back but they stopped carrying them and I’m glad they’re again stocking them. What I will now do is purchase a moisture/water alarm and place it under the sink to avoid any future possibilities of not knowing about an under-sink leak.
I’ve seen a well-rated leak alarm detector in the $9-$15 range (Zircon Leak Alert). Just google to find it. Prior to purchase, I was also considering the two-stage under-sink filter system with the twist on/off filters as they’re much easier to replace, but I didn’t see any that were rated very well, so I chose this item instead.

The RCC7AK-UV is one of our most well equipped systems, standing out over standard RO systems with its alkaline remineralization filter and UV sterilizer. The alkaline filter adds back healthy minerals that were removed during the reverse osmosis process and can also improve the taste and increase the alkalinity of the RO water.
An RO system with a UV sterilizer is a recommended choice for anyone filtering water from a well or directly from a natural body of water. The UV light is capable of killing bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms by interfering with the DNA and RNA in the organism’s reproductive cycles.
Included with the system is a lead-free solid brass body faucet with a brushed nickel finish. The faucet is typically mounted on the counter as the main output source for the RO water, but output lines can also be connected to your refrigerator output, ice maker, and coffee maker.
The installation is streamlined and DIY for most users, with written, video, and tech support assistance if needed. Replacement filters are standard sized and available at factory direct pricing. Therefore if you are on municipal water, a system like the RCC7 or RCC7AK will offer more than enough protection.
Well water sources and natural bodies of water on the other hand are a breeding ground for microbes. If you are getting your water from these sources, a system with the capabilities of the RCC7AK-UV should be strongly considered.
replaced a 15 year old basic 4 stage watts under the counter unit no pump. if you use quite a bit of water like an under counter ice maker or a large family get the rcc100p unit with the pressure pumpit filled my existing tank which holds approx 3.
5 gals in under an hour. and the pump makes the water more pure. my TDS is 2. yes thats right. but my tap water is only 40 PPMappears well made. you cant hear it run the pump is very quiet. even if you have decent water pressure the pump will still come on when you use water.
heres to hoping it lasts many years. i have been an RO user since 93. i had a custom unit in las vegasi cant imagine living with out one. buy itenjoy itoh and your coffee maker will last foreverwithout cleaning.
i dont work for i spring and i paid full price. just so ya know.

What are the benefits of using UV light for well water?
The benefits of using UV light for well water include disinfecting the water to kill harmful bacteria and viruses, and reducing the risk of waterborne illnesses. UV light also helps to remove chlorine from the water, making it safer to drink.
What are the drawbacks of using UV light for well water?
There are several drawbacks to using UV light for well water disinfection. First, UV light cannot penetrate through cloudy water, so it is not effective in treating water that is turbid or contains suspended particles.
Second, UV light is only effective at inactivating bacteria and viruses; it does not kill or remove other types of contaminants such as heavy metals or chemicals. Third, UV light disinfection is a one-time treatment; once the water has been exposed to UV light, it must be used immediately and cannot be stored for later use.
Finally, UV light disinfection systems are relatively expensive and require regular maintenance and replacement of bulbs.
How does UV light work?
UV light is used in well water to disinfect the water and kill bacteria. The UV light penetrates the cell walls of bacteria and destroys their DNA, preventing them from reproducing.
How is UV light installed?
The installation of a UV light for well water typically requires a professional. The first step is to determine the well water flow rate. The next step is to select a UV light that is powerful enough to treat the entire volume of water that flows through the system in a day.
The UV light is then installed in the well water line, typically after the water pressure tank.
How is UV light maintained?
UV light is used to disinfect water by destroying bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms. The UV light must be strong enough to penetrate the water and reach the microorganisms. UV light is produced by special lamps that emit UV light at a wavelength that is effective for disinfection.
The lamps are made of quartz, which is transparent to UV light. The water is passed through a chamber that contains the UV lamps. The lamps are turned on and off according to a schedule that is set by the water treatment facility.
What are the costs of using UV light for well water?
The cost of using UV light for well water disinfection can vary depending on the specific system used and the well water conditions. Generally, UV light systems for well water disinfection range in cost from around $600 to $5,000.
Are there any alternatives to using UV light for well water?
Yes, there are alternatives to using UV light for well water sterilization. These include using chlorine or other chemical disinfectants, boiling the water, or filtration.
The conclusion of UV light for well water is that it is an effective means of disinfection and can be used to treat water for a variety of purposes. It is also a safe and environmentally friendly method of water treatment.
