The optimism might be blown out of proportion because Im coming from a 15 year old plasma. The picture quality is great from its native apps (it included AppleTV, Netflix, etc) in which could be downloaded from google play.
As always, picture quality always depends from the source. Since my source is from within the hardware, it produced quality picture. Set up is easy. If youre already used to google/android configuration, this will be cake.
Sound is ok, but most buyers nowadays always opt for a sound system. I havent tried eARC yet since I dont have one. Do a search on that topic since a lot of people have issues with it. Outside of that, no complaints from me.
We were looking for a larger screen TV for our Media room (we were replacing a 10-year-old 45″ Sony Bravia which continues to work beautifully). The salesperson did a great job explaining the advantages of Sony’s 4K OLED screen and the Android OS.
WE have this tv paired up with a Denon 7. 1 channel sound system, so really not taking advantage of the TV speakers. The 77-inch screen is large but is a great fit for our room and creates a movie theatre experience.
We really appreciate the vibrant colour on this TV and specifically how well it handles the black portions of images, creating crisp black space when needed. The Android OS is remarkably user friendly to navigate, and the TV remote well thought out, making it easy to get to the most frequently used apps, such as NetFlix, Youtube and Disney+.
The number of apps available for this TV has surpassed our expectations. We have Rogers ignite services but prefer to watch these apps directly from the TV to take full advantage of the 4K resolution.
Making us reconsider if we really need the Rogers services for this room. 🙂 The only thing we did not consider when I purchased this TV was that with the latest HDCP standards the Denon receiver cannot feed the TV HDMI directly, since the older spec is is not compatible with the TV.
As a result, we are using the digital optical link from the TV to the receiver for sound. We will likely need to upgrade the receiver at some point if we want it to have multiple HDMI sources switched through the receiver.
Not a problem for now. All in all, we love this TV. Would have no problem recommending this to others.
Let me start by saying that I’m an OLED guy. I bought my first OLED 3 years back after my then 4 year old Samsung plasma TV had screen issues. After doing lot of online research and in-store comparisons, I just couldn’t go with the LED/QLED TVs.
So I went ahead and bought a 65″ LG C7 and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. After that we bought a house and I started to feel the need to have a TV in the bedroom. Also the living room was demanding a size increase.
I finally went ahead with this gorgeous Sony 77″ set after debating over the choice with LG CX. Couple of reasons I went ahead with Sony: 1. Image processing: seeing them in-store, I felt the Sony picture somewhat looked better than the LG given it’s better image processing.
2. Android TV: I loved the LG’s webOS and magic mouse initially but have grown out of it now. I almost don’t like to use that bulky remote anymore. The apps video quality is also not the same as I see from the Apple TV.
While all this would be irrelevant if I got another Apple TV but regardless I wanted to see what Sony had to offer. I’m pleased the experience has been really good so far. 3. Just wanted to try a new OLED brand.
Not to mention, I never owned a Sony TV that I have so admired as a TV brand since childhood. 4. I don’t game, like at all. So the lack of VRR and lag factor didn’t bother me. I wanted a TV that’s amazing for Movies.
5. The ability to use the TV speakers as center speakers is novel. I have a MartinLogan 4. 1 setup and I wanted to add the center but it’s a little tricky to find right placement with my stone wall above fireplace.
So even though this is last year’s model compared to LG’s, I pulled the trigger on this one and I couldn’t be happier. #sweepstake.

I hate to say it, but I have to say to avoid this tv or any LG tv that uses local dimming. I was sooo excited to purchase this tv and get it home. But after a few days of viewing, a few things stuck out consistently and could not be ignored or gotten used to, And I tried for a month.
The way the local dimming is implemented causes u to watch shows with somewhat of a spotlight moving around the screen to focus on the bright areas. There was an area about a foot in from both sides that always seemed to not dim/light properly.
This made our eyes crazy. And if you turned it off, well the picture looked great and bright, but when viewing 16:9 content the bars on top and bottom were grayish(not black as when local dimming is on).
And the worse thing of all was that there was a whiteish area glowing in the top right corner that caused a glow on the whole corner. There were a few other glowing spots along the left edge of the screen but less noticeable.
The top right corner glow was about a foot in diameter and as I imagined keeping the tv for several years, could I get used to the glowing spots, NO and we shouldn’t have to. Oh, and the vertical blinds-like way LG displays the image onscreen caused the view from the side to be extremely dim.
So unfortunately I had to return the tv and purchased Sony OLED instead, GORGEOUS!! LG C1 OLED should be very good as well. But if u need to or prefer to stay with LED, then go with Samsung QLED, u won’t be disappointed.
Nice step up from our 1080p Vizio with “full array backlighting” from ~10 years ago. It was all plastic-y and felt cheap. Its picture was decent at its time but suffered pretty bad with bloom. It had decent speakers even back then.
Its smart features died when they stopped using Yahoo widgets (true story) so we had to use an external device to stream. Pros: The LG feels much more premium than our old Vizio. All metal from what I can tell and feels very sturdy.
I love the magic remote and its native smart apps work very well. I am a computer guy so my standards for that stuff are pretty high and I have no complaints. The picture is wonderful. as expected. I have been impressed with its colors, its brightness, reflections, and its bloom is very limited.
Yes it is there, yes it is noticeable, but barely. I have not seen the “dirty screen” that rtings shown in their testing. It is a panel lottery and the main reason I bought it locally instead of online.
just in case I wanted to return it. There are plenty of features and “AI” stuff that I am still debating if I like or not. One feature I have not seen mentioned anywhere is that it can use the remote’s microphone to do audio room correction.
Speaking of audio. IMHO it is pretty darn good for a TV. The frequency range is a notch below the top tier according to Rtings and its audio channel separation was better than our old LG soundbar (the bars frequency range was a bit better, however).
The audio has some good low-frequency range and does produce a noticeable amount of bass. No it won’t replace a dedicated subwoofer. its more in line with what a “decent” pair of bookshelf speakers could produce.
buts its still impressive. Other pros include all of the menu items you can tinker with. This is a tinker lovers TV. There are plenty of features that I do not see mentioned in descriptions or specifications.
Look at the manual if you want to see what it really has to offer. Cons: Honestly, the only negative is the TV audio distorts at a lower than ideal level. Keep in mind this typically only happens when watching movies and Mandolorian\Witcher\WestWorld type shows.
We have not really noticed it in other streamed “TV” shows (drama/documentaries). I used the equalizer to remove as much distortion as I can but at some point, it just is not worth losing the audio quality over.
Rtings was right on this one but their rating looks worse because this TV has one of the loudest volumes and their volume tests will show higher distortion. Plus, to my knowledge, they do not equalize any frequencies so I question their validity here some.
In short, yes the audio is not “great” but IMHO it is good enough for most medium-sized rooms and for most people. I personally think a lot will be satisfied and not need a soundbar. I plan to experiment with a Bluetooth subwoofer (since the tv will do both tv speakers and Bluetooth at the same time) but will eventually get an Atmos soundbar.
Conclusion: I 100% recommend this TV. Depending on room size and your audio standards. you may need a soundbar. This is a “tinkers” TV with many many many options. You will need to tweak the audio and screen settings out-of-the-box.
But this TV also has many features that other brands are still struggling to roll out. If you do not want to fiddle with settings. honestly just buy a Sony TV – they have the best out-of-box experiences period.

I’ve had this TV for almost a year now. I actually upgraded from an analog TV so quite an upgrade. I love that it is a Smart Tv, screen size, color and picture quality. The remote is called the “magic remote” but for me there is no magic to it.
I still do not know exactly how to use it. I also can’t stand that I can’t or do not know how to switch back to the last channel I used. I was used to flipping back and forth with my old remote with one click on the button for last channel.
It shouldn’t be this hard. I just don’t feel this TV is very user friendly. I didn’t even know about the free LG channels until I was playing around but I never watch them anyway. I had actually purchased a different brand, set it up and 5 hours later had a red line going through it.
I returned it and got the LG. I do not like the look of the LG channel guide when compared to my cable guide. Overall, it is good TV but not happy that it is not user friendly. I would not call myself tech savvy but I still wonder how some of our older generation would figure out how to use the features of this TV.
I’m sure there are probably features that I am not using simply because I do not know how. I even searched online but didn’t find any helpful information.

With a tv like this- i anticipated atleast 5 hdmi ports. Literally buy an extender and a dongle hangs off my 30k NFT pixtureframe. Looks really tacky. TV fits in the bakc of pickup bed – doubles as an LED business sign when you put it in back just be sure to use some tie downs so no one steals it.
My mi HD ready 32inch is far better than this, because my tv cost me 15k. i watched Ragini mms 2 in both tv and in both story is same and sunny leone is exactly same in both. Only difference is picture clearity, thats it guyz no need to spend 100 times more money here.

55″ 3D LED, 480Hz, Smart HD TV. 6 Pairs of 3D Glasses and Magic Remote. Delivers Full HD 1080p picture quality with glorious color and deep black levels on games and beyond, along with advanced features.
An Almost-frameless “Cinema Screen” design. Affords a wide viewing angle so, you can enjoy effective 3D from any spot on the couch.
I bought this TV after reading as many reviews as I could and compared it to other TVs out there. I decided to buy it once I saw the price drop. I must say I am very impressed with the quality of this TV.
The standard calibration out of the box was not bad, but once I found a good calibration to use the picture quality improved immensely. The 3D depth is real good and I love the fact that the glasses are lightweight and cheap to buy.
It comes with six 3D glasses, but it’s nice to know I don’t have to spend much to replace them in the future. I watched a BluRay movie recently and was pleased to see how well the picture looked. This 55LM9600 really shows BluRay movies how they were meant to be seen.
I also watch Netflix using the included app and have not had any problems streaming shows and movies. Connecting to my wireless network was a breeze and everything loads fast. I think for the price I paid, this TV was well worth it.
I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a better quality TV in their house.
I have had this TV for three months and am still very pleased. The Built-in sound is so good I have opted not to get a sound bar. I was able to boost the center channel (voice) which helps with some British broadcasts.
I have received several comments on the design (the “look of the unit”) by visitors. Picture quality is great and I feel it was worth the extra $ for this TV. The upscaling makes DVDs look like Blu-rays.
Suggestions: 1. The Magic Remote is not the best idea. A more fully featured push button remote (with some DVD player controls) would be more useful. 2. The User’s Manual only covers set-up not features.
I, so far, have not been able to use the close caption feature. So of the other settings are still a mystery as well.
