20 Best Treadmill For Under 1000 (2023 Updated)

I love this treadmill. I have only had it a week-BUT NO issues. It was VERY easy to put together and it is VERY quiet when walking on it. I thoroughly researched all different kinds of treadmills and decided on this one, partly due to customer reviews and my own personal needs (I have previously had back surgery and walk everyday).

I do not run, only walk, but at a brisk pace. I bought this one to have at my mother’s when I visit her. When I need to replace the treadmill I currently have at my house-I already know what I will buy-A SUNNY FITNESS TREADMILL!!!!!!.

Once it got here (COVID environments + Christmas shipping clogups = Nightmare 3 weeks waiting + scheduling delivery) I didn’t blame them for it though. I was able to track my shipment the whole way through with their shipping company and the delivery guys were professional and courteous.

The directions were easy to follow. I was able to put it together in just under 30 minutes and could’ve done it faster, but didn’t want to mess it up. A socket wrench with an allen wrench bit would’ve made this go a lot quicker.

Anyway, the treadmill works great so far. Bluetooth pairing was easy. Don’t expect much from the speakers, but I can hear them fine. You’re not going to get fidelity of sound out of them jokers so let that go and get some quality earbuds.

Mine is pointed right at the window so I have a nice view of the back yard and can zone out in nature or close the curtains and watch Netflix on my phone or tablet. Looking forward to checking out the Sunny YouTube videos.

And no I don’t work there. I was reading reviews just like you’re doing right now and found myself saying he probably works there. Naw, I’m just happy with the purchase (so far). Now if this thing breaks down, you’ll see a different review.

First, I’d like to address other reviews regarding shipping. It isn’t the national shipper that Sunny uses that’s horrible, it’s the local shippers that the national one drops it off to in your city.

Also, this is for product review, not shipping company review. Now to the good stuff. I really like this treadmill! I was worried it would be too big for my space, and when the box came I was even more worried because it’s huge, but it fits in my smaller 3rd bedroom perfectly.

No need for me to fold it up and move it, though that feature is nice especially because of the air spring. Both the belt and incline movements are smooth while I’m using it and I fully intend on lubricating every 3 months as recommended.

I did so with my previous Sunny treadmill (no incline) and I think it makes a big difference. There are 2 areas, one on either side of the display, that can hold your water bottle, phone, or whatever else.

I wouldn’t call them cup holders as they aren’t cylinder holes specifically for bottles. They’re more of an inlay into the upright display. There are buttons on the side handles for incline and speed in case your iPad covers the display like mine.

I don’t like my treadmill facing the wall, so you will need a very short extension cord if routing the cable behind the machine. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it.

We’ve had a wonderful experience with Sunny health. Our first phone call to the company was to get general information about the treadmill we wanted to purchase. We were fortunate enough to run into one of the folks there and she was remarkably helpful.

Really a terrific representative for the company. I believe her name was Jerry. In any event the level of her willingness to answer all my questions and volunteer information about the product was really impressive.

Because of that experience we determined that we would purchase from Sunny health because frankly although we had shopped other brands we had not encountered anyone as helpful. We ordered it and within five working days, the unit arrived and my husband and I set it up with no problem, it just took a little time to do but within an hour and a half or so we were looking at our brand new treadmill.

The unit is smaller than many of the treadmills generally available. We placed ours in our spare bedroom and the size was perfect. The product seems a very good quality. It runs silently. My husband and I are in our 70’s.

We wanted a solid treadmill to walk on although this unit could accommodate a good run. Thanks Sunny Health!.

Although it was rough to get the unit up to my 3rd floor apartment, that’s not it’s fault! That’s pretty much the only tough thing about the whole experience so far. _x000D_ _x000D_ Shipping was totally reasonable for the times we are living in, the packaging was sturdy and not damaged.

There was a little scuffing on the unit, but nothing that isn’t allowable for a piece of equipment this size. _x000D_ _x000D_ Setup was very easy. I needed help getting it up the stairs (yikes), and lifting everything out of the box, because it comes all of a piece, but otherwise I did the setup by myself (not super in shape lady of middle years).

If you can use a hex wrench you’re good; an extra hand would be helpful but not necessary. The instructions are adequate if succinct, and everything you need is in the box. _x000D_ _x000D_ The arms of the unit are a little wiggly side to side after setup, and there was one bolt housing that was kind of badly machined so it didn’t line up perfectly.

That doesn’t make anything unusable or faulty, just a small annoyance. _x000D_ _x000D_ I have had the treadmill for about 2 weeks now, and have used it 4/7 days a week so far. Overall, it’s great! It has a slightly smaller than I’m used to tread surface, but after a couple uses, I acclimated and it’s no problem.

Being smaller so it can fit in an apartment is a good thing. _x000D_ _x000D_ The controls are intuitive for anyone that’s used a treadmill before, and probably for those who have not. The heart rate monitor on the handles is a useful feature.

I haven’t used the programs yet, but I’m looking forward to that, it’s more like walking outside. I’ve used those features on treadmills before and really enjoyed the variance. _x000D_ _x000D_ As mentioned, I live in a 3rd floor apt.

I bought some floor padding from Home Depot that is intended for weight rooms, with padding and a hard surface on the top. My roommate has no idea when I’m using it, and my downstairs neighbor hasn’t complained, and it’s in a common area of the apt.

Even better than expected! _x000D_ _x000D_ Overall, never having purchased a treadmill before, and only having used them in gyms, I’m really pleased with this purchase. The quality of this treadmill is great off the jump, and I would recommend.

I have used Sunny brand products in gyms before and I find the consumer line to be in line with what I have used in gyms so far. _x000D_ _x000D_ If you need and have help getting it where it’s going, you’re going to be good to go.

I’ve only had it set-up for a few days, but so far I love it. It arrived on schedule and was left at my front door. (Interesting that no one called to let me know it was being delivered. Fortunately, my front door is in a covered area where it doesn’t rain.

) I’m amazed at how quiet it is compared to my former treadmill. Other than being very heavy to manipulate (a sign of its sturdiness), it was easy for a handyman friend to assemble. It’s the perfect size to fit in my small walk-in closet.

The only thing missing is a ledge to hold my iPad, though I knew it didn’t have one when I ordered it. Hopefully, it will continue to function well for many years.

Bought based on other reviews and comparing with about 10 other models. Seems reasonably well built, but there’s still a little side to side movement of the uprights/handles. Nothing objectionable, but it is a little more than I expected after reading other reviews talking about a heavy duty frame.

The base of the unit does seem very well built and solid despite the fact it can tip up to save space. Expecting a long life from the motor, belt, and base of unit which is backed up by an impressive warranty.

Love the width and length of the belt, I have a hard time running on the skinnier units keep stepping off the side. I do find myself stepping on the front motor cover when fully forward using the display or handheld heart rate monitor, wish it was a bit further forward, or the upright tilted just a little further back.

Again, not a severe problem, just need to get used to it. Unit is very quiet on the motor side as well as noise from footsteps. Doesn’t disturb people in other rooms when using early in the morning or late at night.

I had an assembly issue, one of the bolt holes securing the console to the frame was not fully tapped bolt only when in a few turns and quit. I had to borrow a tap and carefully re-tap so the bolt would go all the way in.

Little disappointing for a brand new premium unit. Rest of the assembly wasn’t too bad, a little tedious getting some of the plastic parts aligned along with the screws. Helped to have a 2nd set of hands and a head lamp to see into the recessed holes.

Kind of annoying the recesses were so deep you couldn’t start by hand and had to use a screwdriver upside down while somebody else was helping to hold. The bad threads and clunky assembly were why I knocked a star off.

Console/display is nice. Screen mirroring with android is clunky and it doesn’t effectively rotate use the whole screen. Wish we could add more apps to it besides the handful pre-installed and maybe features of a smart TV like Roku instead of trying to do their own version.

I would have bought the more basic display but wanted the higher HP Motor, larger weight cap, and larger roller diameter only at the F85 level. So we have it and it’s fine, but might eventually get a tablet or put a smart TV in front which kinda makes the display a waste since it could have been a lot better and it does have a nice screen.

The USB port is useless for charging newer smart phones because of the current limit so don’t expect to use your phone screen and actually accumulate any sort of charge at the same time. Overall not a perfect unit, but so far seems like a quality unit for the part that matters – running.

Only had for about a month so I can’t comment on long term durability but from what I’ve seen so far I expect this unit to last a good long time.

Technician hired were respectful & Professors for whit glove service. Sole TM is a sturdy&Quality machine. I have only hade it a month so far. No complaints! will write a follow up Feb 2023 to give a throrough annual assessment.

I research multiple TMs over 3 months. Incliuding Nordic, Horiizon, Pro form, Boflex, Peleton and the multiple Amazon offered brands mostly from China. Final choice was Sole F85 and Im glad I did for multiple reasons.

Main ones are too many to list. So I will name only 5. 1. Quality. 2. Warranty 3. Weight capacity 4. Steel side bars when stepping off from a HIIT workout. 5. Multiple trays and tablet holders. 6. Not having to join an Ifit program to start machine , although Ive just learned through email that sole is offering a similar experience for a competitive price point, I might try it out.

7. 60x 22 inch running spec. 8. Easy folding bed up and down 9. Quiet quiet quiet 10. USB to charge my phone or tablet if needed. Ok I know I have more reasons. but so far so good. If I had any Cons for the price point I would say more fans for intense runs located at different areas high and low.

Sometimes use my lap top and it blocks the main fan when Im on a long uphill climb. But honestly its not a deal breaker. Btw! I am a real person whos is anal retentive and thought about it for over two years to purchase a TM.

After intense research.

We ordered our f85 directly from Sole on 11/27/20. We wanted a machine that can take heavy usage. I run 10 miles/day and my husband (6’5” and 265lbs) runs several miles a day (we live where it’s snowy/icy and need the option to run indoors in winter).

Our f85 arrived on 12/17/20 with the new console even though the website still showed the old console as of 12/26/20. The “new console” is a 10. 1” touch screen. It sounds fancy compared to the old console, but it has a lot of issues.

We set up our treadmill on 12/18/20. Right off the bat there was a high-pitched sound coming from the speakers that many others have noted with the new console. I called Sole and did the “return call” option.

When I didn’t get a call back 4 hours later I called again and this time there was no call back option. I hung up after being on hold 30 minutes. The next day 12/19 I called again and there wasn’t a call back option again.

I was on hold for two hours. Almost gave up when someone answered. She knew right away the sound I was calling about and said a part will be shipped to me in 5-7 business days then a technician will call me up to 3 business days after I receive it to schedule coming out to install it.

NOTE: I received the part on 12/26 and as of 1/6 a technician hasn’t called. Pros: Machine seems sturdy. My husband is able to run on it comfortably without it wobbling or kind of stopping when he runs (which can be an issue on other treadmills due to his size) The machine is quiet There is ample storage for remotes, phone, water bottle, keys, etc.

Cons: The metrics displayed on the screen are in small font (16 point-ish size, the time of day is even smaller maybe 10 point) There’s no way to display the average pace (ex 6:50min/mile) or average speed (ex.

8. 2mph) while running. You can only see the current pace and current speed. The distance displayed only goes to the tens place (ex 1. 2 miles, rather than 1. 25 miles) The quick speed buttons skip 1,6,8,10, and 11 mph and the quick incline buttons only have 7 options as well The “1/4 mile track” view is NOT 1/4 mile.

With 1/4 mile tracks, you would hit miles at 4, 8, 12, etc laps. Instead, I hit miles at just over 4, 8, and 12 laps (a little more with each mile). I thought maybe they’re 0. 20 mile laps, but then you would hit 1 mile increments every 5 laps instead of every 4 and a little laps.

So maybe each lap is 0. 22 or so miles? (I added a picture to the review that shows the 1/4 mile track. It shows 40 laps but 9. 9 miles. It switched to 10. 0 miles about 6 “blocks” further on the track) Also, the “1/4 mile track” Start is not marked so you have to watch it right when you start your run to know where the laps begin especially since the laps are not even 1/4 miles.

The screen mirroring doesn’t work after the software upgrade we did on 12/19/20. It worked directly before doing the software upgrade and did not work directly after the upgrade. The fan is very weak – I can barely feel it all.

It also points to the top of my head and isn’t adjustable (I’m 5′ 6″ for reference) There are no physical buttons for volume or fan speed except for small buttons on the display The pause time cannot be adjusted from 5 minutes (not a huge deal and I don’t think you can adjust it on many treadmills, but thought I’d mention it here.

On ProForm you can adjust it. And on NordicTrack I believe it’s a 10 minute pause) The Sole and Sole+ apps are very basic and don’t integrate with other running apps. The Sole app only displays in landscape There is no period/dot on the screen’s keyboard (for when you’re entering your email address for Netflix, etc.

logins) (note: this was fixed with the software update we did on 12/19. BUT after the software update the screen mirroring stopped working and I lost my profile) If the treadmill was just for my use, I would be returning it due to some of the cons listed above.

However, it’s hard to find a treadmill that my 265lb 6’5″ husband is comfortable running on and this one seems ok for him so we’re still debating if we should return it or not. I’m hoping that a software update comes out that fixes many of the console issues.

First off, WOW. This is quiet. It’s fairly heavy as well, so if you have it in the basement like me, you’ll need to have help or be able to hold the weight. This is my first treadmill, so maybe this is the norm, but just a warning for others out there (I couldn’t do much with this because I have a bad back, so I had help to get this downstairs).

But to go back on that first point, it is extremely quiet. I mean, you can definitely run with this in the basement having kids on the main or upstairs floor without waking them (maybe sprints would be louder, but for light jogging it was barely audible).

Secondly, there’s just a bunch of fun things to do with it. You can connect your phone/tablet to the bluetooth or directly to the treadmill, and then play music or videos through the speakers in the treadmill.

There’s a stand for the phone/tablet, as well as a USB port (this is a standard USB port, not USB-C). Lastly, it comes with a heart rate band that you put around your chest. So that’s an awesome feature, except I have a FitBit anyways so I likely won’t use it, but it’s still great and worth mentioning.

Moving onto the critical part, and building off that last thing, you have to have a tiny star (+) screwdriver to actually use the chest strap heart monitor. you have a battery to put into the monitor, but no screw driver.

So without a super tiny screw driver (end to end for the screw is about 1mm), you can’t use this anyways. The other issues I had was that it’s a fairly expensive unit, and it definitely is worth the money.

however, the design of the arm buttons seems cheap, the fan seems even cheaper, 4 of 6 screw holes were offset. 1. For the buttons, I had pressed the buttons a couple of times where it doesn’t register an increase/decrease of speed or incline, but you have to press the MIDDLE of the buttons for it to really work for the rubber buttons.

So it’s not a “press anywhere” kind of button, but instead a “press in the middle only”. None of the pictures show the buttons on the arms, which makes sense now because personally, I wouldn’t want customers to see how cheap they looked.

2. The fan. wow. It’s bad. IT has barely any air flow, but it’s something I guess. If the fan is a critical feature for you, you can get better air pressure from having someone use their lungs in all honesty.

3. Building the unit where the upright poles go into the base, when I was putting in the screws, it seemed that the bottom most screws and the ones at the back just didn’t align. I had to definitely wiggle the thing around to get one set of screws in, but for the other I was about to give up, but if you put it in at an angle, it makes it kind of line up.

still a bit of an annoyance that it wasn’t aligned properly. Anyways, although I was super critical about those 3 things, I still love the thing now that it’s built. It’s super quiet, feels really sturdy and built well, and all in all looks like a good purchase.

I’d recommend this treadmill for sure, but I’d also not use the fan as a selling point :p.

Five star is for the product – it’s great, copes well running at 5min/km for a 77kg man. It’s almost as sturdy as those in the gym, with simple folding if you need the space. It also has BLE Bluetooth Low Energy and I’ve connected it to Zwift – your avatar runs along at your speed.

Delivery, well, one problem was Fitness Superstore and one my own. First problem was I ordered and paid for next day, and by the time Fitness Superstore, even though they had taken my credit card, send another email to confirm another small payment, it was too late for next day.

Bit poor on the communication front. Secondly, it is BIG. The delivery company (who almost dropped the box) will only deliver to a ground floor location and our ‘gym’ is in a room above the garage. It took two adult men and two strapping teens to lift.

And it is BIG. The box was too big to go up the stairs so we took it apart and carried it up. Even then, the lightest bit was nearly 100kg and still long. Assembly was simple and took about 30 mins but strongly suggest there are two of you.

We run it on a gym mat from Decathlon, cheap, protects the floor and adds a bit of padding/sound protection. Overall very happy, but it was touch and go getting it up those stairs.

Felt reliable. Cons Not touch screen. Thecosole unit feels really big. Tablet holder is abit shaky when running. Better than my old treadmill though. But very minimal shaking if you place Tablet closer on main console.

Tablet holder is also abit too far. I struggle to reach it during work outs. I’m 5. 8 the fan does not tilt enough to hit my face. I can only feel it on high incline and still it’s not very strong. Set up is OK.

Needed my wife to help for only one section. 1 or 2 awkward screws but otherwise set up not bad. This is an excellent treadmill if you favour good quality running over all the techy stuff which in my opinion you don’t need as there are plenty of apps out there.

No regrets in buying. Fits my needs entirely.
