2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport got Hit by a Dodge Caravan! Not a Dent on the Caravan or even a scratch-Baby Dent on my Lower tail gate not worth Goin to body shop but it Totaled by Rear Factory bumper!-Replaced bumper with “Ranch Hand Steel Bumper and TYGER HITCH STEP/BUMPER! WAW-fit is precise you have to wriggle it in-“just a HorseHair” Wobble” unnoticeable if at all.

The brace may be too small 1 millimeter off but with just an unnoticeable horse hair wobble? I did away with the brace. Do I need it?? Only time will tell-My jeep is a “city Jeep” Snow and pot holes! Spare tire 33×10 Protected with room to spare! Armored!! Will protext 33×12 that may be the max at the first hole-33×12.

5 may be pushing it. A must for JK Jeep wranglers!.

This is a darned fine hitch step. I bought it to provide some protection from rear-end collisions having twice been whacked by drivers who seem to lack an understanding of physics. The first time I had a bumper bar (on a Jeep Grand Cherokee) and suffered zero damage, while the other driver smashed the bejeezus out of her BMW.

Earlier this year, driving my Golf R, a gentleman with a penchant for smashing into other drivers whacked me again. No bumper bar/hitch step, and a repair bill that approached $4,000. So, I got this Tyger bit for my new Grand Cherokee, which has a hitch receiver.

The package–lock, do-hicky for preventing wiggling and noise, and the hitch step itself–is very nice. All very high quality, and a step/bumper protector that would likely crumple the front end of an M1 Abrams tank.

One caveat is that it has occasionally caused the back parking sensors to go a bit cattywampus, even activating my brakes at one point. I subsequently removed it and reinstalled the hitch step and have not had any further issues (though this all happened in the last 24 hours).

I sincerely hope that I’m able to use it without any further problems, because it is one darned nice hitch step, but if you have back parking sensors you should be aware of the fact that this may cause some interference with that system.

Don’t toss the packing materials away before you give it a whirl. Apart from that, a crazy nice product.

Jeepers who carry the spare tire on the tailgate will have often noticed vehicles hovering too close behind, perhaps because of a false perception that that big mud tire is just a fluffy rubber pillow which will protect their own vehicle from any major damage.

The irony is that there is some truth here, at least at some Jeep disadvantage, as it’ll be the first thing a vehicle (e. g. , Pickup) plows into and thereby avoid the rear OEM or steel off-road bumper completely a foot further back and down.

By then, the damage of the spare tire being forced upon (or through) the spot-welded tailgate will have been done, along with the rear lower quarter panels and the D-pillars of the fiberglass roof shell.

After some recent encounters with texting fools on the interstate, I found this solution to overcome those absent minded FB types with fair warning that my journey will continue happily along well after their radiator leaks over their damaged front end components and perhaps no one to text on a broken cellphone.

To shield the spare tire from the prospective impact zone, I utilized a receiver hitch extension (5-inch) with a 4-inch drop/rise (e. g. , Meyer FHK45054) in order to bring the receiver hitch up, rearward and flush just under the 35″ spare tire treads (Teraflex carrier used here).

The Tyger Hitch Armor was installed thereto and, “Protego!” Even Voldemort wouldn’t touch that,except for those (like mine) with a heavy M/T tread – so for you 32″ and lesser types like stock this setup should work.

Overall it’s a matter of preference and peace of mind while on asphalt. Either way, it’ll work. In the enclosed pictures you will note the Tyger’s structure in this particular setup with or without the Meyer will spread the force and crumple zones straight downward and/or away from center.

As an added insight, invest in the very best of receiver locks (depicted: Bolt Receiver Lock 7018448) to keep the Tyger accounted for. Overall, exceptional craftsmanship with a rugged Jeep appeal and which will serve well with an OEM bumper or until the next upgrade to aftermarket steel.

I am replacing a Bumpstep that I’ve had for several years of good use. I was recently hit from behind on the road and the Bumpstep protected my pickup’s rear bumper. No bumper damage, but the shank on the Bumpstep has a slight crack, enough to replace for safety.

The car that his my truck had considerable front bumper damage.

I purchased the step last month. The original ad said that it came with a lockable pin. When I received the package there was no locking pin in the shipping box. In fact it came with no type of fastening pin.

The plastic package containing the step stated that it DID NOT come with a pin. I called American Muscle and after some research they admitted their ad was wrong but did not offer to send me a locking pin as advertised so I had to spend another $20.

Other than that the step looks and works great. It seems to handle my 250 lbs with ease. Being plastic I worry that it will become brittle and break, especially in cold weather but time will tell.

This is a very sturdy step, made of a tough plastic material. Don’t let the plastic fool you, it holds up to use and abuse. I bought it primarily to protect the rear bumper on my SUV from being dinged by careless drivers.

It can also withstand being used as a step to gain access to the roof for loading luggage. Weather Tech makes high quality “extras” for you car and this Step-Bumper is no exception. I recommend this item without hesitation.

Bought this to use on a John Deere subcompact tractor (1023E). Just drilled some holes in the tractor hitch plate to match the receiver and works perfectly. Cost is about one third, or less, of any tractor specific receiver.

I bought this to mount to the rear fender of a lawn tractor. Some other step-bumper receivers were too bulky. This one worked great (I mounted it upside down. ) All the welds were “pretty” and the paint was uniform.

Seems to be very high quality. I don’t expect to ever get close to the 350# tongue rating (that’d flip the tractor!), so I anticipate no problems with this. Maybe I’ll buy another for the front.

I had a hard time fitting this hitch on my Ranger’s narrow bumper. Once I got it shimmed correctly it just barely fit. I am very very happy with the performance of this hitch, both towing my boat and using different hitch accessories.

Fit on 4″” X 4″” trailer bumper easily. Hitch went in receiver without binding. I’m using this receiver for a convenient place to lock my hitch when the trailer is parked. I put a locking pin through the hitch to prevent the hitch from being stolen, which my last one was when I stored the hitch under the trailer.

Good sturdy hitch receiver. Easy to install and reposition for different length loads. Only drawback is when used on 4 bumper it indents the bumper where coupler ends on sewer hose will not slide past.

Nice, well built Hitch Adapter, although the RV we just bought came with a hitch, unlike others we’d seen. So I went straight to Camping World where we’ve bought for more than 20 yrs. this is just more simple. And the way this is built, I think thee is less stress on the welds. The second thing, and the reason I ordered from Blain’s Farm and Fleet, was for the product I had selected, they had the best price.

and the shipping was faster than initially promised. Lastly, after reading a number of reviews on this product, I was expecting a little effort to get this thing mounted on my trailer. Some of the reviews talked about tight tolerances and tight fits, weld interference and bolting difficulties.

I didn’t experience any of these. In fact, this was about the easiest piece of equipment I’ve ever installed, and had it mounted in about 3 minutes. Great product, great supplier, and a happy customer.

this hitch is easy to install. It wont handle a lot of tongue weight,but, it will work for a boat trailer or utility trailer to pull behind your travel trailer. I used it for my 14 ft. aluminum fishing boat, and my travel trailer pulled much more smoothly.

Just by adding that little bit of drag behind the trailer, stopped it from swaying back and forth. Kind of like adding a longer tail to a kite! works great for my application , and i have already recommended it to several friends.

just dont put yourself in a situation where backing up is necessary. you will have to unhook the last trailer and get turned around, then rehook trailer. still no big deal. LOVE IT!!!.

The space between plates is very tight close to the welds. This required hitting the hitch at the bottom to drive it up. A solid 4×4 chunk of wood and a heavy hammer worked. Should not have had to do this, but it is on.

The first Curt hitch did not have enough space to work at all. It was returned. Customer service was awesome during the replacement process!.

I cannot attach the Hitch Mounted step because it can’t fit my car. There are parts that prevent the attachment. The part was sent to me directly from Pilot Automotive, Inc located in City of Industry, CA.

I need to be informed of the process for return and a return shipping label.

Great addition to my RAV4 Adventure. First in my area to have one. Friends are impressed. Nice styling. Great additional safety feature. The multi use with the step is a smart addition. I highly recommend it for those who have a hitch.

Make sure you have a good 4 pin trailer light harness. I have separate turn signals and brake lights, so I had to have a module installed for the conversion to make this unit work. But the unit itself is very solid and looks great.

I have the stainless version. The LEDs run dim when parking or headlights are on, then bright when the brakes are applied. Installation is easy and clean. One suggestion, get a locking hitch pin at the same time.

It looks so nice, it may not last long without locking it.

Made in America great, too bad its weak trash. Good for my 120 pound wife. Not good for a man’s truck. WAY overpriced.

love the look on my 08 ram. i am going to have it line-x both sides. had bit issue with the mounting brackets because of the factory hitch i needed to make place on edge of them for the hitch bolts. and trim some of the boxed steel of the new bumper where the three holes are for trailer balls.

bumper sits flat on top of factory hitch now just like oem bumper. trailer balls wholes dont line up with each other but who uses them when have the removable reese styl hitch.

Shipping and delivery was prompt and better than expected. Quality was all I expected and better than what some other reviews stated. Finish was not harmed due to good packaging. I used this GM bumper on my ’95 Toyota T100.

Size and appearance are very acceptable, a big improvement over the rusted original. I knew before ordering I would make my own frame adapters, and box tubing was a good choice. The biggest challenge of the project was getting my 75 year old body under the truck more than a few times.

Took some time to install due to my own human error. But over all good quality bumper and came with the license plate lights and wiring. Was very pleased.

This is actually my 2nd bumper. The truck was bought new and was without a rear bumper. So Westin was my first choice back in 1995. I’m only replacing this bumper due to the elements it was exposed to caused it to rust beyond repair.

Salt water is extremely hard on vehicles. 26 years later I decided the rear bumper really needed to be relpaced and AutoZone had them for close to what I paid for the first one all those years ago! you can’t go wrong with a Westin bumper!.

The bumper received came with a bad bent on the left side. Looking at it carefully, it’s not from delivery as it’s not a dent, but it has to come from factory this way. That’s because it’s welded with the bent and there’s no way to fix other than to cut it and re-weld it.

Unfortunately for me, I was in a time crunch with paint already scheduled in place waiting for the bumper’s arrival and so it’s been painted and installed. That is fault on my part as I didn’t left myself time for error like this.

The pictures already shows the bumper painted and installed but the picture for the left side of the bumper shows the fault and the right side is how it should be. This can only be faulted to quality control from the factory and not Summit Racing or UPS.

Heavy duty! Install video on my youtube channel “What the Hoot”, its really not hard to install. Looks great on my 1997 F-250 I needed the bumper brackets for installation, part#92300. Would recommend to anyone with a rusty old bumper that needs a cost effective replacement!.

The receiver looks great and is far better than the plastic one I previously had. The other brand broke and by far this one looks better and more importantly it has no square edges which we always seemed to bump into.

The reviews I had seen earlier complained that it rattled. This unit came with a rubber insert that you wedged into the hitch which stopped any rattling. I would highly recommend this Bully CR 600.

I like that it sticks out far enough to protect the rear bumper area, but not far enough to hit your knee like a stinger hitch does. we’ve all done that!!! The way they rounded off the corners is great.

The only draw back is the black caps on the ends of the pipe feel cheap. Will be interesting to see how long they last, but I’ve already backed into pile of rocks and nothing but a small scratch on the bottom of the step.

Just right. Use it on my Jeep Wrangler to match up with the tubular side bars. works well for messin with the soft top an cleaning the hard top. Summit is super fast on the shipping an at a better price than the jeep stores.

After replacing the stock bumpers on my 2020 Gladiator I looked for something to cushion any impacts between it and other stationary objects. Other bumper steps I found were steel, something more to rattle when I drove and with no ‘give’.

This step is quiet, won’t rust and is relatively soft with some give to it. Since it is also visible in my rearview camera I believe there will be fewer ‘bumps in the night’ and neither my steel bumper nor other vehicles bumper should get bruised.

I bought this for an extra step into my Ford Maverick which with the bumper it makes easy entry up and over the tailgate. But also if I ever back into something the 1st thing I hit may be the step instead of my bumper.

And of course in parking lots where people get to close , the step will take the hit. It is made to break apart ( collapse) if a higher impact happens. I like it.

I keep this under the seat to pull out and pop in just to reach the roof rack. I don’t have to get up there often enough to actually leave it installed, but it’s light enough and strong enough for the occasional use without busting a shin walking around the back of the car.

Don’t know how I got along without it before! It’s light and incredibly strong. Feels very secure.

The fit and finish were great. The two large bolt holes lined up perfect on my Ranch Hand rear bumper. The two half inch holes were off slightly and I had to ream them out to fit. The stinger on my hitch fits into the opening without any problem and the holes for the pin line up really good on the two different hitches I have used.

Would buy another one.

Went all over town in Ft Lauderdale looking for a hitch fir my F150. Most companies didn’t have it and if they did they were rip off prices. American Trucks came thru on my first internet search.

looks great but when I step on it, it does not feel very steady.

I don’t remember where i saw the step, but i have been stepping on my ball in the hitch for years now. Thank whoever it was that thought up the step.

Pros: Quality Product protected very well in shipping. Welds look great. Got to keep my factory hitch receiver. Bumper fits tight right around receiver. Got to keep my OEM factory tow hook and tow lighting not disturbed.

Great directions. Easy install, I did start applying penetrating oil a few days in advance to OEM hardware. No issues. Maybe the oil was not needed but I recommend it. Cons: license plate bracket that rides on top left of bumper is 1/4” too close to Jeep in my opinion, bracket and wires do not touch Jeep paint, I added some split plastic conduit for wire protection and paint could be compromised do to close proximity of conduit vs.

paint. Statically conduit clears but while in motion it’s hard to say. 1 month since install. I did pull plate away as precautionary from the body but Brackets are heavy duty (pro).

Good looking, heavy duty, all steel bumper. Finish is with a textured powder coating that appears very durable. It included cube LED lights to replace the factory fog lights. Instructions are very good and installation is straight forward.

You will need help to align the bolts with the corresponding holes because the bumper is very heavy. The winch plate is included and also very durable. I was able to reuse the factory skid plate for my Mojave although there is a gap.

I will probably paint the skid plate black for a better look.

This is one of the only full width bumper that joins the stock fender flares without leaving a gap. It is very well integrated with the overall design of the Jeep. Functionality is good, with possibility of shackles, and towing capacity.

Older version was difficult to install, as quite a bit of force was necessary to align the holes to bolt it in but it has been fixed. This one went in much easier that another one I bought in the past.

They were a few flaws in the finish that I had to touch up. I have several other Bestop bumpers that didn’t have this kind of flaw. I still give it 5 stars because of the price I got it for, as it was on sale.

This works well if bolted on with proper heat treated (Grade 8) bolts and washers. We put washers on top and bottom with an added lock washer before the nut. We also added 2 extra holes to the rear for more strength and stability.

Grade 8 bolts can be hard to find so it would be nice if they would go ahead and add to the price and send them with the receiver. 6 bolts 12 washers and 4 lock washers all Grade 8, cost us $15. 00 before taxes.

That added to the price from Harbor Freight is still about 25% less than any price we saw elsewhere. It would be nice if either the bolts were added or stated that you need to buy them.

This was easy to adapt to my step bumper with some fabrication. I did not bolt it to the bumper, but rather welded it to the bumper reinforcement under the bumper. I was able to weld the hitch to the reinforcement without damaging the paint on the outer bumper.

It made for a nice looking install. The base of the hitch was bent and required some work to correct that. All in all, I am pleased with the purchase, more-so with the price than the quality of the product itself.

I bought this for my new enclosed trailer to use for a winch mount bolted to the floor. I already have 2, but needed another for a trailer that I bought last summer. I just flip it upside down using the bumper plate and the floor mount.

The winch I have is mounted to a 2″ tube for easy mounting and moving from my truck hitch to either trailer.

My name is John King. The only issue was the instructions that came with the box left a lot to figure out for one’s self. Fitting was by trial and error. Good thing there are lots of how-to videos. However, the videos really do not match my application and leave out important details you have to figure out one’s yourself.

Overall the Rugged Ridge Spartan Front Bumper with standard ends and the over-rider hoop is a great look for my Jeep and leaves room for the Licences Plate in the center. I am happy with this product, it is simple, functional, and looks cool.

I am a disabled Veteran I can only work 10 to 20 minutes at a time since my world is in pain so it took me four hours each day a total of 4days days to Remove the old bumper and complete the installation of the new bumper and rewire the fog lights since the original fog light harness was not configured to the new fog light position so I had to modify it to fit and heat shrink the entire wire harness to protect it from the elements.

Note: I nearly paid double for this bumper due to shipping to Alaska. Despite the pain overall I still had fun doing it. Thank you.

This is a fantastic bumper for the price. I originally ordered the Barricade Trail Force HD but sent it back because of shipping damage and manufacturing defects. I decided to spend a little more and get this one instead and this bumper is better in every conceivable way for only 100 bucks more.

This thing is rock solid, the d-ring plates are bolted directly to the frame, the winch plate is a separate heavy-duty piece bolted directly to the frame in 6 places, and the whole thing was packed very securely in the box so there was no shipping damage.

I couldn’t recommend this more for the price, it’s just fantastic. A note on installation time – removing the stock bumper and fog lights is where you’ll spend all your time. Installing this one is quite easy but the instructions are pretty vague.

“Remove stock bumper”, “Install bumper with M8 hardware”, etc – it’s not hard to figure out though. Easy solo install as well, the only tricky part was balancing the over-rider loop while getting the first couple bolts started for it.

XT did a great job on the packaging! The bumper is heavy and well built, fit perfectly on my 18 JK unlimited Sahara. You will need 2-3 people to mount it due to the weight. *****CAUTION***** if you have a tow hitch with the nuts welded, it will not fit.

You will need to remove them with an angle grinder or similar tool. Another thing is the bolts are not long enough to use the washer and lock washer together. I removed the lock washer and bolted on through hitch mount.

There is an extra flat piece of coated metal with hardware to screw in somewhere that came with the bumper that is not mentioned in the instructions and have no idea what it’s for. Other than that, install is pretty much straight forward.

Took a little longer than expected due to the hitch customization, not a big deal, but I am happy with the style and quality. Looks Great!!.

Well the product was post to be easy to install But wasn’t a t all. Don’t match with the shape under the rear bumper front have idea how to install yet. Search for videos or something similar but don’t find any.

Be honest I’m so disappointed with this product.

Bought for a 2008 Toyota Sienna. Took about 15 minutes to put on and everything lined up perfect and looks great. Fast shipping as well. Arrived in a few days.

Just as described. Very heavy duty. Nonslip grid on step is very nice and works well.

Rugged, had to buy locking pin. Overall it seems well made and durable. Easy to install. Only wish they had more girl friendly designs. 🙂
