20 Best Trail Bikes For Women (2023 Updated)

I bought the Men and Women’s bike from BJ’s. I just started riding a bike after 30 years of not riding one and this one is basically an intermediate bike to me. (probably would be to others as well) I had to replace the tubbing in my wife back tire after she rode the bike 200 feet or less from the house and there were no nails on the street and I couldn’t find any type of indication of why the tire went flat.

(tubbing must’ve been old or dry rotted-idk) Changing the gears on my bike is pretty easy, but since I did that, I still haven’t been able to get my bike to stop making noises while I’m riding it. (chain noises) The only reason why I didn’t return the bikes to BJ’s is because it’s too much of a hassle and the price was economical.

I orderd this bike and it took a few days longer than expected to be delivered. Took box to the Academy store and they assembled it in about one day. Was happy with the service. Have ridden it a handful of times and so far I like the shock absorption and the way it ride.

I need to practice with the gear settings. I am 5’1″ and I foudn the height of this bike to be exactly right for me.

Nice bike, well made. But way too tall for my 11 yr old. This is the tallest 24 inch bike I’ve seen, almost too tall for me (I amm 5ft tall). Meaning seat at lowest position sits very high

For 200$, as shipped, it’s a great cross-country bike. Mine was pre-assembled. I was shopping for $1000 bikes and frustrated because everything was on back order. I got this just to get me along until I could get something bike shop quality.

To my surprise I was pleased with it. I only had to adjust the rear derailleur by backing the nut on the cable out a few clicks. I’ve gotten many compliments. What put me on to a Walmart bike: Youtube videos where real mountain bikers put these cheap bikes to the test on expert trails.

Even though they were shredded by the time it was done, I was really impressed how $200 bikes held up on trails designed for $6000 bikes. At this point, I will definitely be upgrading the fork and stem, and will probably spend more on the fork than the bike itself.

But at this point, I think it’s worth it. I eventually bought a Trek Roscoe 6 with 3″ wide Schwalbe tires, drop down post, and that comfortable 28T to 48T drive train I was looking for. The $1200 Roscoe 6 yields to the Saracino on gravel and packed dirt, but with mountain climbing the Saracino runs out of breath – revealing the sacrifices to produce a $200 bike.

Until I replace the fork, I wouldn’t even consider MTB trails. The fork will add $250 (minimal) to $650 to the total cost of the bike, but every mile of experience I gain with this convinces me it is worth it.

For those wondering it has a straight tube. For now, I’m loving it “as is” on the fire roads. What I like most is that I can explore for hours as fast or as slow as I desire. It is easy to control doing slow circles at near standstill while site seeing.

It has a steep head angle (feels like 69 degrees) comparable to Trek’s entry level Marlin frame and opposed to the 67’s typical of downhill MTB bikes. As for the drive train: The Microshift M26 rear derailleur is budget minded, but easy to tune, Shimano compatible, and along with the shifter works very smooth.

The 40T crank, and the 32-15T freewheel make it not too difficult to grind up a short, steep hill. Long grades of any slight significance wear you down. So, it’s great on the back country fire roads, but I’m not tackling any real MTB trails that involve a lot of steep climbs for the lack of a lower gear ratio to pedal up those hills.

It is, by consequence, very fast! A Trek Marlin 7 (a $1200 bike) has a final gear ratio of 28T to 11T. The Saracino’s final gear ratio is 40T to 15T. This equates to final gear ratios of 2. 5/1 vs 2.

6/1. If you’ve got the power, this bike will reward you! The tread on the tires gives rolling resistance typical of mountain bike tires, but it’s not a big deal. I keep mine at 40 PSI on packed roads.

I did six miles the other day on gravel and packed dirt, and the rolling resistance of the tires was just enough to qualify as a light workout. I’ll finish with this: I never get tired of riding this bike.

Its geometry is great. So, they cut costs on the fork and the stem. It’s worth upgrading.

For reference I am an avid cyclist and home mechanic. I have built several complete bikes and I perform all my own service on my family’s stable of six machines. I purchased this Genesis Messina for my daughter and in my opinion it is worth the $$$ that I paid for.

The Frame and parts are all well manufactured for the price. I was, however, skeptical of the transmission (shifting system) as I have never heard of Microshift 26. After a few hours of trying to tune the shifting, I could not get the correct tension to keep the shifting smooth and precise.

Trying different limit positions, cabling tensioning, a new shift cable, and B-tensioning, all resulted in the chain continuing to jump gears at random. I ended up changing the shifter to a Shimano ST-EF51-8R rapid fire, and now the bike shifts great, smooth, and predictably.

Bought for our son’s birthday. Tires were low-filled the front tire to the recommended 40psi. Started to fill the rear tire and got to 38psi and the tube exploded. Returned to Academy, and they graciously exchanged.

The 2nd bike was not tuned at all. The shifters were not usable and thus, the bike could not be ridden. It looks like I will have to pay a bike shop to tune it up. Maybe that is normal nowadays, but every bike I’ve previously purchased (including from academy) came apparently tuned and worked fine.

I bought this bike yesterday at Academy Sports, and I already had to return it. Everything about the bike is great except the top bar. It is not slanted like a normal women’s bike. It is higher therefore a person who isn’t taller than probably 5’5 cant touch the ground.

Dumbest design ever. A 24 inch bike is too small and by placing a bar like this for a 26 inch bike you are completely leaving a majority of women that will be able to ride this bike.

Bought online. Quick delivery however video provided didn’t cover this model. Put together and when riding chain was catching on the side and front wheel wasn’t moving smoothly. Took into the local Halfords who made some gear and brake adjustments on the spot which was great.

All seems good now but still early days.

I was gifted this bike for review and chose a “girl” bike rather than a “women’s” bike, bc I’m 5’3” and it’s perfect! I put it together by myself and there were parts that were difficult to negotiate where I had to use YouTube.

Pros: *Rides very smooth *Brakes work very well *Easy to adjust to fit *great color Cons: *The kickstand…holy cow this thing is the WORST. You have to have the bike perfectly balanced for it to work.

There’s just not enough of an angle to it i think is the problem. *I’ve had to make numerous adjustments and feel something is still “off” so I’ll need to go back and adjust for at least the 15th time.

Price wise it’s about $150-200 and I would purchase in store if possible so they can put it together! Otherwise, it’s a good bike, I look forward to reasonable temps to get it out on a bike path soon!.

I ordered this bike and it came damaged. I didn’t notice until the bike was almost completely assembled, but the rear derailleur was bent in such a way that it was in the spokes of the wheel. I called the warranty number and they said they would ship me a new derailleur, but that is not something I am comfortable installing myself.

I ordered a replacement bike, and the same thing happened to the second bike. Granted, I think the shipping company was at least partially to blame here as it was left on my doorstep with the box laying on its side rather than standing up like the indications on the box instructed.

That said, the packaging was insufficient to prevent damage during shipping. The box bulged where the rear derailleur was, and sure enough there is a hole in the box from where it was poking out. There was no protection for this part of the bike and it would seem any mishandling during shipment would cause this same damage.

As this is an online only product, I do not have confidence I will be able to secure a bike that is not damaged so I will not be ordering yet another bike as a replacement. It’s a shame because I loved the styling of this bike and my son was really excited to get it.

After two weeks of waiting, we now realize we have to go find something else.

pros: really solid build, unbreakable basically. was able to shift into any of the gears quietly ootb and the braking required only minor adjustments cons: generic derailleurs are strange (kind of like them though) – no idea what it’ll be like once they’ve gotten dirty/wet.

the cross bar in the frame was damaged in both bikes i got, even though the packaging on the frame was in tact (these were damaged before they were boxed), the component class is absolute bargain basement – but ootb feels adequate.

i actually really like the stem and frame, they just feel like they can be beat on (they certainly weigh a lot!).

I am disabled and not entirely mobile due to my cancer (which is now in remission) so I’ve not been on a bicycle in a while. I decided I wanted to try and get back out there because I always enjoy riding a bike.

This is the one I settled on after trying every bike in the store (at a few different stores too) and I am very happy with my choice. First, it’s easy to get on. My mobility issues are with my leg function so being able to easily swing my leg over was imperative.

This bike is also not very high off the ground either which is comforting. I’ve replaced the seat with one with more cushion but otherwise this bike is exactly what I wanted.

I have recently added this bike to ride with my kids. I have found this bike provides a nice comfortable seat. The build of the bike is easy to get on and off of. The bike itself mechanically is good.

I haven’t had any issues with the breaks, chain, or tires. I feel like this bike has given me an easy ability to ride as well as a smooth and comfortable ride.

I bought this in July for my wife. After 2. 5 hours I couldn’t get the brakes adjusted properly and the gears were grinding like crazy out of the box. If I wanted the bike to stop, the brakes were rubbing during normal operation.

The chain travel was so great, the chain would nearly derail when you shifted into high on the front gears. I had to pay a bike shop to adjust everything. They ended up having to replace the rear index shifter cables because Huffy used brake cables.

They said there was hardly any lubrication and the bearings would’ve been wrecked in short order. It cost an additional $100 for all the adjustments, tightening, lubrication, parts replacements, etc.

The bike works well now. I’ll be contacting Huffy about the cost of the replacement parts.

For looks, great looking bike. That is why i gave it a 2 star. Otherwise, too many issues. I had to manually adjust each brake, and the adjustments wouldnt take; even though they are name brand parts on it, its the cheap version.

Furthermore, the tire frames arrived warped; nonfixable. In addition, the disc brake was too warped as well. ; needs replaced, could not form it back, too warped. Also great news, almost half the screws and hex nuts were stripped.

I ordered online, received it direct, had to assemble it. Try to assemble/adjust/ride a brand new bike with these issues. Not so fun and very disappointing to my daughter. Seeing her ride this bike once assembled was a joke.

Looked like a circus bike with wheels made wobbly on purpose. She wanted to keep it so it wouldnt hurt our feelings, but we said she deserved better. Lack of quality control in my opinion. Someone was sleeping on the job when this batch was made.

Yeah, I took it back.

It was broken when we got it and it needed put together. We had to take it to a bike shop to temporarily fix it(hopefully it lasts) while we order a new part. The mounting bracket on the back of the bike for the gears is broken.

It didn’t look like it happened in shipping either. It looked like a machine bend so it wasn’t inspected well before it was sent out. This was my daughter’s Birthday gift, thanks a lot Walmart. The price we are paying to fix this bike I could have gotten her a better brand! Save your money and buy the better brand.

I worried buying a bike online would be a bad idea, I just didn’t have a choice when I have to work and they now close the same time my work does. My daughter had outgrown her old bike. Her legs touch the handle bars on her old bike so she can’t ride it.

Hopefully this bike works long enough for the new part to come in.

Fantastic bike!! If you’re looking for a mountain bike for your pre-teen/teen, this is the one. Our daughter loves that it’s not so kiddish, and it rides well. When my bike broke, I was lucky enough to try this out, and it rode excellent for me.

It made me get myself a women’s whirlwind after this!!.

Great entry+ trail, unpaved road, off road grass/gravel, or paved trail bike. Go with the sizing per Cannondale website and then look on YouTube to adjust seat height, seat forward aft position. I went with Large at first and it was slightly too small.

Exchanged for XL frame and REI made it really easy and good exchange! Glad I bought at REI. Once I got XL home adjusted brake lever and shifter lever position, seat height, and seat a little backward.

Now I don’t have numb hands or pelvic area and legs feel even work on quads and hamstrings. Get the correct size and fiddle around with adjustments. it makes a good positive difference. I like the Cannondale trail 6.

Nice bike so far. Decent gearing for riding on flat road/trail and good gearing for off road or up trail or up hills.

I bought this bike 3 months ago and it’s a awesome bike for the price! I ride this bike hard and it holds up good. Upgraded to tubeless tires and rims and some Chester pedals with ergon grips and this bike is amazing.

The fork is great you just have to tune it a bit to get the most of it. But when you do, your going to feel like 100mm of travel is perfect. I find myself ride this bike more then my 130mm travel bike.

Also the 2x drivetrain is great. At first glance I thought that I was going to have a hard time with it but I was wrong. I had no chain drop and the gear ratio is great for the climbing I do. And yes 1x Drivetrain would be better but you really don’t need it you can use a old inertube as a chain stay protector.

This bike is perfect. Yes you are limited to fork options. But there is still a lot of good forks in the market like a suntor 120mm air fork. But if your in a budget like I am. The 100mm fork is perfect.

Also I just love hardtails. .

The 2021 is a great beginner bike at it’s price point. It is also a good bike for the more experienced riders as well. There are some components on the lower end that the average rider will not notice.

For you more experienced riders, this is a great frame and worth saving some pocket change and upgrade the components. – PLEASE NOTE – I am 5’10 with a pretty portioned torso and trunk. My torso is only slightly longer.

– I really suggest you DO NOT go by size recommendations. Based on the geometry and Cannondale’s size chart I was stuck between the medium and large. When that is the case I always size down so I prepaid for a medium.

Lucky when I got there they had a small b/c the medium was still a bit BIG. Obviously the 29 inch & 27. 5 inch come into play but if you are not coming from 29’s it will feel like a very big bike. I was looking at a Specialized Rockhopper, Trek Marlin 5 & Haro Flightline.

I am very happy I went with the Trail 8. Below are the basic things I did not like: – The seat is a bit uncomfortable. – The pedals it comes with are very cheap. – The crank arm is kinda long. ****I have already already upgrade the seat and pedals Next upgrades are the crank arms, front & rear derailleurs and eventually the forks and all the entry level components.

The bike arrived early. It was easy to assemble, though it took a bit of time. There were no dents or scratches. The wheels were not warped. All the parts seemed to be there. It is a nice looking bike, and my wife loved it.

She took it out for a short ride by herself, and all went fine. We went together on another ride; and as she tried to shift, the derailer broke off and wrapped around the tire hub (in the direction of pedaling).

I could spin the derailer back around and put it back on the post, but I could not tell how it actually stayed on its post. It does not attach to the rear axle behind the nut like most I’ve seen. In addition, the derailer was cracked at the top and the metal behind the top gear wheel was bent.

This should not have happened. Even if it needed to be adjusted, it should not have broken off. Or was the derailer cracked to begin with and I did not notice it? However it happened, I am returning it.

I would like to order another, but I am gun shy about it. Don’t know what I’ll do.

Against my better judgment I ordered a bike for delivery instead of just getting it from the store but I really liked this one. Shipping time wasn’t to bad, about a week. I couldn’t wait to get it together but doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen anytime soon.

The left peddle isn’t threaded incorrectly so I can’t get it on. The gears on the back tire are bent all the way back and touching the spokes. But the bike looks better then I expected. When I’m able to ride it I can give a more useful review.

I don’t usually spend such efforts to tell people of such a great product. This is a phenomenal bicycle with incredibly good design and function. It is a heavy duty all purpose young and older ladies bicycle.

It is overbuilt and made for hard use at this price point. It is many times over a better buy than you will find in my experience and I have 35 years in the industry. There is nothing close to the quality I have ever seen as this model.

Please understand that when you purchase a bicycle in box it is by nature not ready to ride. The responsibility of tuning correctly comes with the exceptional price. Carefully following directions and using strong torque when installing pieces is necessary.

Adequate lubrication and upkeep (very simple) is necessary. When you assemble you can make or break any quality of bicycle because it is not the product that fails when a bicycle breaks with today’s incredible value for the money.

Years of trouble free use is now available, If you have your bicycle properly taken care of. I highly suggest either a seasoned mechanic, or a lot of YouTube verification, and this is the exact type of bicycle that will last for a decade easily.

Previously it use to cost $500 to have this option. Five cents of oil and old tee shirts can go a long ways. Buy authentic wd40 and a oil dispenser and you can really have a bicycle to be proud of. I can assure you, Kent has a premium deal here and I would buy dozens if possible.

Great bike. Needed to transition from a hybrid to a mountain bike and this has met and exceeded expectations for a reasonable price. Disc breaks, easy shifting with new power and smooth ride make riding super fun.

This is a great bike and it came easily a week or two earlier than I expected. Some minor assembly required but the brakes and gears worked perfectly right out of the box. Given how hard it was to find a bike anywhere (local places wanted 2+ months), I’m amazed at how easy it was to buy this one.

The aesthetics of this bike are great. It’s a very nice bike and very comfortable due to the shocks. I had to replace the seat because it was very small for me. The issue I have is with the gear shifters.

From the beginning it has been very difficult for me to change gears while riding the bike; I don’t believe this is is the best design because you have to shift gears with your thumb and the levers are very hard.

The handlebars are very low too and I feel hunched all the time.

NOT FOR SHORT PPL. I fight read that the height limit was 4’11. After searching for a bike with great reviews. I chose this one without seeing there is a 5’2 height minimum. I’m 4’11 and kept feeling a little uncomfortable with the ride.

The seat is pretty hard. I haven’t rode a bike in over 10 years, so I assumed it was that. At the time of purchase, handy bike setup was available, plus purchase protection. However for this bike, and the girls bike I had to order don’t offer that feature anymore.

idk. But overall it seems pretty good.

Watch the video on YouTube for Kent Genesis and if you’re a visual person, it will help with the whole assembly and will not take hours of work. Do Not unscrew and screw in anything, watch the video 1st.

You may need to put in air the tires depending on your weight. I am 230 lbs, 5’4. The seat is standard, so you may need to replace it, the bar for the seat goes pretty high.

My new Marin arrived the other day and I couldn’t wait to open the box. Once put together OMG it totally exceeded my already high expectations. This bike just feels so perfectly balanced and rides like a much more expensive machine rather than the entry-level model it is.

I reckon this bike would handle most tracks on the Northern Beaches but I’m not an aggressive trail rider so can’t properly qualify that. Either way the Marin Wildcat Trail 1 is just right for me and I can highly recommend it to other riders of similar ability.

This was our first online bike purchase and I couldn’t be happier with the entire process, from ordering to unboxing. The bike was super easy to build (great tools included). The bike is so good for the money.

I have subsequently sold my Trek hard tail and purchased a Siskiu D7. Can’t wait to get hold of it.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that the Joplin is my favorite bike I have ever had. It is versatile, it is fun, and makes me want to go, go, go. Let me start by saying, I am all about the downhill.

I go up so I can go down, I am motivated by rowdy downhills. This bike makes me want to pedal for the sake of pedaling. I love adventuring on this bike and it turned me, a bonafide downhiller, into a climber.

I never thought the day would come. I have ridden this bike all over the technical trails of the PNW, in a 100-mile gravel race, and a 4-day stage race across Africa and I love it more than ever. While the Joplin descends really well, it is not a bike that I would race enduro on, ride a bike park, or seek out the techiest of techy trails on.

Can you get away with it, yes, but it gets a little spicy pretty quick. For most people, the Joplin is the perfect bike – it climbs incredibly well, is nimble and predictable on descents and it is just so fun.

If you ride frequently in an area with more technical terrain, you might enjoy the extra travel of Maverick more. Pros: The Joplin is a great climber, the 29″ wheels make climbing so much easier Super versatile, predictable, and nimble Descends well Cons: It descends really well but it is not a descending specialist – can feel a little wild at times Final thoughts: I wish everyone had a Joplin – if I could have one bike and one bike only, this would be it.

I was simply on too big of a bike a unisex small with plus sized tires. Getting on a XS Furtado completely changed my experience feeling much more connected to the bike. This bike has plenty of travel for most trail riders, I’ve taken it on easy trails to a downhill bike park.

The Minion tires are excellent, tons of traction and not as unwieldy as a plus size tire. I had no problem going to this smaller tire. For a smaller rider, this is a fantastic bike available in womens XS or S and I like having a 27.

5 wheel, which feels easier to maneuver. This bike wants to hop off everything, but is very nimble and can easily scoot by baby heads or maintain balance if you’re riding at slower speeds. This spec is also a great value and worth it vs.

the lowest spec. Despite having an XS frame, I’m still able to fit a bottle cage, 24 oz podium bottle, and a Dakine Hot Laps Gripper under my seat with plenty of clearance for the dropper. Lastly, I’m 5’1″ and considered going up to the S, however, tried both sizes and felt the XS was a better fit.

I have the 2001 model of this bike, and I finally got around to getting a new one. This iteration of the Furtado is five big stars-balanced, responsive, a great fit, hot looking, and just a pleasure to ride all the way around.

But why do they give us these sadistic seats? Evo did a great job of working with me on a complicated payment and got the bike shipped and built crazy fast. I feel lucky to have gotten this amazing bike so quickly and painlessly at a time when Covid has made it hard to get bikes.

I’m 5’6″ and got the M, which is perfect.

I bought this Cannondale to scratch itch for another mountain bike after selling my Orange a few months ago and didn’t want to spend the kind of money that the Orange had cost again or have the maintenance of a full Sussex.

Being around a quarter of the price of my previous bike my expectations were modest but honestly after the first ride iv been hugely impressed! This bike is a great all rounder that pedals efficiently, climbs amazingly well and is great fun it’s so playful! I was expecting to be shaken to bits on some of the rougher trails I ride after owing a full sus but the Cujo is extremely composed and comfortable I think due to the plus sized tires which also help with climbing traction.

The bike is far more confidence inspiring and capable than I was expecting on steeper more technical riding too. Minor criticism is I would have liked a chain guide mount rather than a front derailleur mount.

Not much else to complain about though its a great bike for the money.

The bike arrived safely but I had the same problem as the other reviewer on here – the dropper seat post wasn’t working. Sigma were quick to respond. Rather than take it to a local bike shop for a quote to fix the problem, I attempted to identify the problem myself.

Turns out the there was too much cable in the seat tube forcing the cable to pop out of where it connects. Re-attaching the cable, which was a bit fiddly, and easing some of the cable out of the seat tube at the bottom fixed the problem.

Not sure what the problem was with the previous review, however it seems like the derailleur hanger was continually being bumped, throwing the shifting out of alignment. The mechanics would straighten the hanger and then a bump would throw it out of alignment.

I had a similar issue a different bike while transporting it on a bike rack I was using, having the bikes bumping together caused damage to the derailuer and hanger, my kid was also pretty hard on the bike too.

The sizing of this bike is perfect for the in be-tween years, too tall for a 24″ kids bike and toosmall for a full size adult bike. Large amount of standover height which is fantastic!.

For this price, I would expect a better product. – Telescopis seatpost wobbles in fixed position to left and right. – The quality of the bolts is insane, I had to change two so I could tighten. It is terribly soft like a cake.

I’m a technician I know how to tighten a screw. – Lacquer quality is bad, 0. 5 cm peeled paint on the frame – The fork makes horrible noises, I changed the bike and it does the same thing. – The wheels were not centered, I had to have the bike serviced to center it for me.

– I also changed bike because I chose it by CanyonCalculator. I am 182 cm and 82 crotch and calculator choose best size M but it was pretty small for me, so I ordered L. – A paper standardized manual is missing.

Only the electronic general manual for MTB bikes is available. I don’t understand why it’s a problem for a company like Canyon to make an exact guide for a given type of bike. I do not recommend buying a bike from this company for more than 1300 € I apologize for this criticism, but I write true it really my own experience.

I’m disappointed.

This is my first full suspension bike. I purchased it from the Liv dealer in my hometown Missoula, MT during the pandemic so did not get to test ride it. As I read the other reviews I see many people comment on loving the aesthetics (look) of the bike.

I agree, it’s beautiful. I love it’s drive on the climb and technical turns made easier for sure but I am working so hard at it on this hefty girl bike. Prior to this I was on the 2019 Giant Fathom which I just loved! Here’s my challenge with the 2021 Liv Intrigue, it’s so heavy.

It weighs 35. 5 lbs! I am 5 foot 7 and about 160 lbs. Riding this bike compared to my hardtail is just not as joyful because it’s a beast due to it’s weight. I will be upgrading to a new full suspension after this season and will not buy again without a test run first.

My friend paid a lil’ extra for the Pique in 2019 and it is so much lighter and easier to navigate. I’ve started calling my bike Big Bertha! Note that I love the climb and this bike is just not a good fit for me.

It’s descent is great but it is also not as fast as other bikes on the downhill. Just grateful to have gotten any bike at all during the pandemic but I will be trading up after this season and lesson learned.

I wish Liv would include the bike weight in specs because that is important to me. Wish I had not sold my 2019 Giant Fathom hardtail. Thinking of investing in a carbon frame full suspension.

I’ve been an avid road biker and mountain biker for about 25 years. Have only had carbon bikes. Decided to get an electric bike for super hilly mountainous areas. However, it is so much more comfortable than my road bike without having to lean over so much, it takes the pressure off my neck and shoulders.

I decided to get a mountain a bike so that I could ride it on any terrain which includes dirt, single track, sand, gravel roads and paved roads. Will definitely quit using my carbon road bike and use this instead.

Best purchase ever!.

I have taken this little lady on at least a dozen rides on my local trails and am just absolutely smitten with its performance. I took a newer Trek model out to demo it prior to this purchase and I was not a fan of the Trek.

The frame was a small but I felt very compact/squished and the gears didn’t shift low enough for my endurance with climbing (the Trek model was more for downhill riding). The frame I bought with the Intrigue is a small and fits like a glove for me (5’4″ female).

The drop seat post is not at its highest when I adjust the seat for climbing, so it seems that there is even a little more wiggle room for a slightly taller person. The suspension is buttery, the drivetrain shifts low enough to climb with ease on steep slopes (common where I ride), and high enough that it moves fast into a descent.

The frame is relatively lightweight. Gosh, the color is gorgeous. It reminds me of the iridescent sheen of a beetle. It is truly an excellent all-mountain bike. Friendly for the uphill climbs and is so fun and flowy to hit downhill single track–it absorbs impact from little jumps with ease.

And for the price, it might be hard to beat.

This bike was worth the price and extra for direct shipping! I’ve been riding hybrid road bikes for commuting more than 25 years. My previous bikes were used, well-worn-in and never fit my body shape.

The lighter weight frame, improved disc-brakes and high quality tires are a bonus. I ordered this without trying the bike out in-store. It was a gamble, but I’m glad I did. I took measurements and had been looking for a new bike nearly 2 years.

I wanted something quick, easy to ride and maneuverable in a city. This bike is just that! Very responsive, good brakes and extra reflective features on the frame. I feel confident riding this in an extremely dangerous city environment.

The only reason it doesn’t get an extra 5th star is that it’s not a pure road bike. I give this 4. 8 stars for value for price but I am a true long-distance road cyclist and the gears feel limiting to me.

I can’t achieve the kind of consistent cruising speeds I prefer with a hybrid bike, but it’s not designed for that, so I acknowledge the limitation. I’m satisfied with the out-of-the-box purchase. REI made the order and delivery smooth.

The freight driver was local and even suggested some great urban trails. I’m looking forward to riding this in-between my road-running intervals.

I was expecting another slow hybrid bike, but this thing has exceptional wheels and can really go when asked, almost as fast as a good fast road bike, but with more comfort. I own a 2020 version and was glad to see the hand grips got the needed improvement, I changed mine out, first thing.

The tires have also been changed, I can’t comment about that, I found mine satisfactory and durable, having almost worn my rear tire smooth at this time. I use the bike often, mainly to replace my car for casual around town needs, so changed the stem to a more upright riding position, which surprisingly still felt good with the supplied saddle.

I changed the saddle needlessly to one I was more familiar with, and kept the OEM seat as a spare, because I might spend hours on the bike and didn’t want surprises. I added a rear rack which allowed me to severely overload the rear wheel, hitting holes and bumps in the street while carrying lots of heavy groceries plus my 220 pound self home, and the wheel remains true.

I inadvertently learned not to lay the bike down repeatedly on the derailluer side , which , in time, allowed it to catch and wrap into the wheel, destroying the plastic spoke protector along with the chain, but the wheel is still very true, with the spokes still straight and tensioned.

Thank goodness this bike has a replaceable derailleur hanger, so with that new part and a new chain, I was back riding, good as new. My main attraction to this bike was that it was the nicest hardtail I could find with room for a center mounted kick stand to be added, I didn’t want the screwy rear position type.

Now I think I might love the high quality brakes more, they are a complete joy and really add to a quality experience at an important touch point. The shift controls are a little small for my hands, requiring some repositioning of my hand to use, but not a deal breaker.

I can say the same thing for the thumb bell I added. I also added a rubber tip on the kickstand, to better accommodate various floors when parked, along with fenders and a good U lock, which I carry secured on my rear rack when not in use.

I learned the hard way about U locks , and suggest it is the superior design choice. I even have a second thug weight kryptonite lock to use if I go downtown. I also switched to theft resistant axles, no quick releases on this city bike, same with my lighting.

I once stopped for lunch at the pier and every bike had their lights stolen except mine. Frame is really nice, impressive tech and finished to a high standard. I am glad they went away from the very boring, invisible at night, black paint used on my bike.

The reflective gold trim under the clear coat on mine doesn’t seem to do much.

I bought 2 weeks ago and done 100 miles on this and have become used to it and got to know the bike. Firstly really good service from the chap at Sigma that served me. And for the bike, it’s great. Positive; It rides just like a normal bike, it gives you that kick you need to ease the lumps and makes a 30 mile ride feel like a breeze.

It has 3 settings I’ve mainly had the first one green which gives the kick you need and had at least 25% left after 45 miles, flat riding lumpy fen roads. It has two extra levels orange and red for more boost.

I can’t comment to much as with no hills it’s hard to judge the extra output. You can also turn the electric off totally on smooth flats and bike as a regular bike. The negatives: The light button is a little fiddly especially on bumpy road to make your selection for what level you’re on.

The ride is quite hard on flat bumpy roads as it’s a ridged frame. To conclude a great bike a nice ride but as most are roads are so alwful be prepared to get used to the vibration.

I bought this bike last month and I am happy that I did. The bike was very competitively priced at Moosejaw which was one of my deciding factors in the purchase. The bike arrived exceptionally well packaged, lacking any damage.

I was more than pleased with the quick shipping and great packing. The bike is a great quality and is a fun ride. I like this bike because it offers exceptional quality at a entry level pricing. This bike is great for beginners and ever intermediates!.

Great hardtail for anyone wanting to get into mountain biking without breaking the bank completely. Works well as a entry level trail bike and doubles as a good option for commuting. -1 star due to chain rattle issue (but this can be fixed with the purchase of a cheap chain guide online) and due to minor issues adjusting front derailleur.

If those 2 relatively minor issues were amended this would be a 10/10 starter bike. Nonetheless, great quality starter bike. 9/10 overall.

I love reading new MTB reviews but it seems like the reviews are lacking in one area. There are hundreds of reviews of $6,000+ bikes with thousand dollar drivetrains. However, there is a lack of reviews of entry-level bikes and bikes that most people can actually afford.

For me the stand out points are: a solid, lightweight aluminum frame, a SRAM NX/GX drivetrain, a Rock Shox Reba fork (100mm travel), and the WTB Nine Line tires.

If you tried to build this bike yourself and bought all the parts separately you wouldn’t be able to come close to the under $1,500 price tag. It even comes with some really cool extras that most bikes don’t include, like a mud flap, pedals, and a basic torque wrench and tools (pictured below).

Even though the rims and tires are tubeless compatible, the bike arrives with tubes. Tubeless stems are included and this would be an easy upgrade. The lack of a dropper post is the most evident missing ingredient, but it is understandable that Diamondback does not include one in this price point.

If you plan to do any longer rides on this bike you would want to upgrade the saddle as well. The tread on the WTB NineLine tires are geared for cross-country riding. If you were to use this as a trail bike you would want to have a deeper, more aggressive tread pattern.

This bike is not designed to take down rocky, technical terrain. It is very much geared towards cross-country riding. I bought it to keep up with the high school riders on my local NICA team. As long as you stay on the trails that this machine is designed for it is an awesome bike, especially for the money.

Being a hardtail 29er this bike climbs very well and is very efficient. It handles smooth trails and light rocky terrain with ease. It climbs easily and carries momentum well. For a hardtail with more traditional geometry it descends remarkably well.

If you are looking for a traditional hardtail you will not find a better one for the price. This would be an excellent bike if you are on a NICA team or if you just enjoy riding fast. See more at https://www.
