20 Best Toys 8 Year Old Boy (2023 Updated)

Got this for a seven-year old who is highly skilled in building with Lego. He did need his dad’s help building the first project – a racing car – because he had to learn how to use the tools, but once comfortable with that he started making things on his own.

Pieces are large and colorful and instructions booklet offers lots of options for projects. Kids learn how screws, bolts, and screwdrivers. Tools are plastic and large enough for kids to handle comfortably.

This is easy for little hands. This works like real tools, as you need the wrench to hold in order to tighten certain things, however on the first build the wrench broke, and not repairable as its plastic, of course.

It was given as a gift and we have been building things since then. Easy to follow directions, however some of the items the directions have to be altered as they must not have thought about the end user making the item and screw placement etc.

We are still able to build but out of the 4 items we built 2 have had to be altered in order to fit with screw placement or materials being able to mesh flat.

Looking forward to when he can follow the directions himself, BUT I let him gather the pieces needed for each step and when it’s time to build something else, he takes it apart with the tools. I wish there were enough pcs to build more than one assembly.

The pieces are sturdy and good-sized. This would make a great birthday gift to keep on hand for the inevitable birthday parties my grandson is invited to.

I bought this for my nephew and he absolutely loved it! There are 3 different options to build, which means they will have endless hours of fun. The glow in the dark stickers allow for an awesome and interesting way for kids to play day and night.

It’s challenging, which makes them have to think and rework their mistakes in order to build each item. In my opinion (and his), this is the only cool robot out there. I’m so glad I took the time to research a toy for him and was able to see the amount of joy he had while playing.

Amazing gift for an amazing price. My nephew loves playing with this toy. Super interactive and the glow in the dark makes it so fun. Highly recommend you buy this product, you wont regret it!

Nothing glows but a tiny little head. There were no crayons and there was no coloring book. If you want to overpay for a small quantity of off brand legos then this is for you.

This is a great set for a child who is somewhat mechanically-minded and loves to build. It’s more challenging than something like Legos because you not only snap parts together, you have to be able to follow somewhat complex instructions and use tools, be able to discern different parts, etc.

I recommend having a dedicated area for working on these projects where the child doesn’t have to put it away between building sessions. (We have 2 crazy cats in our house and we’ve had to keep all the little parts bagged or we’d find them all over the house.

) Some kids will need some adult help with this. But it’s really a great learning toy that offers a lot of satisfaction when complete, and can be used over and over again.

I’ve seen these kits around for a long time and had some as a kid, never knew what they were called. Great standard set that comes with all the pieces needed to make something cool – and will extend and work with any other sets you may have as well.

Instructions are only ok and some of the pieces are of subpar quality, but there’s a good amount here overall for the price. Requires a bit of creativity to break the mold of the model examples but there’s a lot you can make out of these.

My daughter has had a great time playing with this item but she had not made the actual items listed. The instructions are confusing. The items are numbered but you have to flip back to the list of pieces to locate the number and then got back to the instructions to figure out where is goes.

For kids, this would be better if the pieces were shown for each step. My daughter wanted to just work through and build a little like lego. She still liked the toy-making her own items so that was good.

My son got this set for Christmas from a relative. It’s pieces are smaller than the well known brand but it is definitely of better quality than most other copies. You can only have one model at a time but have 3 options.

There are 5 different sets to collect. My son now wants all 5 so he can create the mega model Garantron! It reminds me of a mash between Transformers and Power Rangers. I think it’s worth mentioning we bought him the well known make for Christmas but he hasn’t mentioned wanting other sets from that range!.

I’m usually a little wary about buying things from brands I don’t know as well, but the images and other reviews ma me feel comfortable enough to buy this toy. I got it for my 7 year old and he absolutely LOVED building it.

It comes in a really nice box (not cheap and can be used to store the spare pieces) and pieces are nicely wrapped in sealed bags. It also brings a four crayon set and a large coloring page. The robot its really cool and you can actually play with it without it coming apart.

I also think the fact that when he’s done playing with the robot he can move on to building the other two forms its a big plus, specially since kids now days move on from toys so quickly. I’m really happy about this purchase and do recommend for anyone who’s looking for a cool fun toy to give this one a try.

I honestly think you won’t be disappointed just like I wasn’t.

The pieces are smaller than Lego and Megablox. That could be a problem for some. Coming with it’s own case makes it easy to keep these separate from other sets. We have purchased all five robots, so my guy will be able to build the big robot.

We’ve only put two together, so far. The pieces stay together well. It’s a nice size to play with. There are three different builds for each set. These are probably my favorite building block sets.

A super easy transaction. I needed the item wrapped (as a present) and shipped. All was done and the package arrived to great joy on the recipient end. The staff was extremely helpful and took all the time needed.

Bought for my son as a gift, he’s made up. Detailed set and a good price. We love the app that goes along with the hidden sides sets.

At first glance, it looked cool and something my grandson and I could enjoy doing together, because we thought by looking at it we would be able to put together all three of the figures showing. We were wrong and found that we could only put together one at a time, then take apart to put together the next one figure.

They only supply enough parts to put together one figure at a time. For the price, it is not really worth it. It comes with a nice case. The picture instructions are actually understandable for me, but my grandson was having some difficulties.

He too was disappointed that we could only make one figure at a time. Bottom line it is okay, for the price it is not really worth it because we thought we would be able to put together all three figures – which it is misleading.

I received Snabglider for my birthday. Once I had finished building it it could break quite easily when I was playing with it so you need be careful with it. However, I was able to fix again quickly.

They are great figures to play with. I would definitely ask for another character from the set. They look amazing once they have been built. When you have collected all five you can also build one great big action figure called Garantron.

My 6 year old son got this for Christmas and he couldn’t wait to put it together. He soon realized that he needed all of them to build the big one. This is such a mind stimulating toy. It took some time but he was able to do this by himself.

The joy of accomplishment on his face, he was so proud.

I was very impressed. As the pieces are so tiny the very slightest of imperfections can stand out and there were a few with this kit. There was also a piece missing and I was also disappointed that to change the model it wasnt a case of bending the model, it had to be taken apart and the new model built.

Having said all that it is a great kit, exceedingly good instructions which include a parts list and the bricks were colorful and sturdy with a nice ‘click’ when they joined together. The quality is generally good and the models produced were really good and provided hours of entertainment.

I bought this for my 6 year old. He has loved it. The pieces can be quite small and easy to lose track of. The carrying case that it all comes in is convenient to keep everything enclosed and in one place.

My son has a million legos so they can easily get lost in the mix.

My 7 year old loves building. He also loves transformers. This is the best of both worlds. The pieces are a bit smaller then traditional legos so if you lose any pieces you can’t use lego pieces to replace so be careful.

Besides that these Robotryx 3in1 are great for gifts, great for rewards, great to keep your kids away from electronics for a few hours. The price is way cheaper the lego sets so thats a bonus too. Satisfied kid and Mama.

Also, I must ad to my review that their customer service is exceptional. We lost our directions and they sent one via chat in less then a minute. Happy kid = Happy Mama.

This is a super cute toy. The Blippi will talk which lights up my toddlers day. I think the audio could be better. The arms and legs are moveable and can allow me toddler to really interact and play with this doll.

She puts him through a lot, and he has yet to break or wear down. She loves watching Blippi, and equally loves her Blippi doll.

It’s a gift for my soon to be 5-year old boy. He loves to build things and I expect he will love this. He’s still young so I think the large size will be great. It’s definitely far cheaper than similar Legos or Erector Sets.

It reminds me of similar non-name brand toys I had growing up, and I became a mechanical engineer. I’ll update after he opens it and gets a chance to build.

Bought this for our grandson’s seventh birthday. He had no problem following the instructions. He absolutely loved it! It did take a couple of hours to assemble. Be sure to charge the battery while you are working on it.

I will buy again for my other grandson when he is old enough.

My 6 year old was so excited to build a rocket for the first time! This is the best way to introduce how to build a circuit and learn STEM skills for young learners. The little astronaut and robot are so cute and my daughter loves to pretend play it.

I love that the possibilities are endless on what she can creatively build with this set. The instructions are very easy to follow and my 6 year old was able to do most of it on her own except for a few parts where she needed help.

I love that she can play with this for years to come! All of the parts are durable and high quality. It does need AAA batteries so make sure you order those with it. I love that my daughter is having so much fun playing with it but she is also learning at the same time especially after virtual learning.

I bought this for my 6 year old daughter that loves building with legos. We wanted to give her an intro to building circuits (her father is an electrical engineer. ) We just love these circuit explorer sets.

In the booklet, the kids receive a mission to build a space station on Mars. My son, who is 4, is also obsessed with these sets. My daughter loves following the instructions to build each structure recommended, but also loves to build her own creations.

The creations light up, move, and have cool sound effects. My son spends the day pretending the rocket ship is lifting off into space. He loves the sound effects and that he can record his own voice to be synthesized.

I love that I can use this to help teach lessons about Mars, space, and circuit building and electricity and then let them play on their own. It’s super engaging and I feel like they can play with this all day, especially on a cold day when you can’t play outside as long.

This is the perfect Christmas gift. I love that you can keep adding more sets. I knew that this would require lots of batteries, so I just purchased them in bulk at the same time. I highly recommend the Circuit Explorer line.

This Rocket set is the perfect intro to circuits for young kids. My six year old was able to totally do this on his own and we enhanced playtime with a discussion about why the circuits worked the way they did, and why certain pieces had to be lined up certain ways.

This set would be great for even younger kids! The only thing we had to help with was installing batteries {and it does take quite a few batteries so be sure to order those now} but he was able to build the different things on his own.

Our little guy loves everything about Paw Patrol, so he and his Daddy had so much fun launching the vehicles to race around the track! We discovered the set works with all 1:55 scale Paw Patrol metal vehicles over and over again, much to our sons delight! Although he has just turned 3, he handled the vehicles and track confidently.

This is the best gift I have ever played with my children. This is so cool. The driveway is not very complicated, it is very suitable for children to play. It does not take up much space and it is a very fun game.

The appearance of the cars are really beautiful, the appearance that boys and girls would like. This exercises the child’s brain movement and thinking ability very well. I think this is a good gift for children.

They’re kind of glossy which makes them slippery and there’s no edges to make stacking any easier, they’re all very slope-y and they slip out from under each other if you’re not careful with each placement or if your base isn’t very sturdy.

You also have to put the right ones together to get any balance going (like match up their tails real good). My son is good at none of those things. Still, he loves to play with them. Like when you play a video game you’re really really bad at, but you can’t stop playing it.

10/10 for kids who are either really careful and good at balancing things, or kids who are really patient.

Super adorable. A little harder to do then I thought, laughed several times I tried it as an adult. Love the vibrant and gender neutral colors. They do have a gloss finish on them that makes them a little slippery, but this way it’s not too easy and keeps them entertained.

I’d give 5 stars, as it really is exactly what is described, but I would really adjust the age range, I had a hard time stacking these myself where they wouldn’t fall down, maybe if all the blocks were a bit wider it would be more suitable for younger children, but my 3 year old mostly pretend plays with the blocks.

He still loves them but definitely can’t stack them!.

Always the best. Good old fashioned wooden train set for grandson. He loves it. Also a little chewable. His father did request this as he wanted to play trains as well.

So we are very lucky and my children were very blessed with many many many many many toys this Christmas season (too many). This robot is by far the favorite. The amount of hours already spent on it is grand.

My son is five and loves it and his three year old sister enjoys playing with him and the robot as well. They get such a kick out of it copying them and all the different commands it does. Theyll sit and listen to a story, or dance along with its music.

Weve had a couple issues with the firing of the little discs where one of the discs got stuck but because its foam we were easily able to get it out and fix it. Overall as a family we highly recommend this robot!.

This gift was a real hit! This remote controlled robot is amazing. It does need to charge for some time before you can activate it, though. Once charged, it will record your voice, call out math problems, recite from books, toss out foam disks from its head and walk.

It is a lot of fun and easy to learn for the most part. We had some issues with the catapult not working at first. It works now but is not consistent and the balls fall off the rails all the time. We also have to adjust the piece that goes on the head for the catapult everytime we use it for some reason.

It won’t stay as far back as it should. The xylophone does very well, however, is misaligned at times and plays on the edge instead of the notes but other times it is fine. It is not consistent. Other than that, so far so good! They have not had time to do everything with it yet so I can’t review everything else but My girls love it and love that you can record your own voice commands too!.

Got Dash for my 7 year old. He is engaging with all of the apps, and is more interested in coding and learning. Whenever somebody comes to visit, family or friend, Dash is introduced like a member of our family.

On the app side, I love how go and path get my son excited about the experience, and Blocky and Wonder build a foundation for problem solving and coding languages. This will be a great precursor to Swift, and I know he’ll be ready for the Cue robot in a couple years!.

Ok so these robots are fun!! These are used with an app/apps and are so easy to get started. Great for first time coders especially very young. Ive only just started using the robots and getting familiar with how they move and talk and I’ve done it without reading instructions because the apps walk you thru everything.

Very user friendly even for an adult that has no robot tech experience…. Yet! I have not gotten a chance to play with all the attachments but I am looking forward to it. Great for teachers and home education.

The whole family enjoys this. We had a lot of fun taking turns to see which of us shot the best. It keeps score n automatically resets the targets.

This shooting toy is very suitable for boys to play.The child who gave it to a friend is very happy, he likes it very much. He also invited his sister to share toys.

They have this toy in my son’s daycare room and I decided to get him one for Christmas to have at home as well. What a great toy! He is barely 9-months old, so a traditional stacker with rings is a bit beyond him yet, but this is great.

The pieces are bold beautiful colors, easy to hold onto, and very intuitive to stack. He can very easily place the pieces atop one another, and I love that the design allows for imperfect placement. They still stack even if they are askew! It’s genius.

My 3. 5 year old daughter also likes joining in to play with this toy with her baby brother – so it’s great to span various ages and I think they will play with this for quite a while. I love that the pieces are slightly weighted and will “right” themselves if it topples over.

This is an awesome toy for little ones! The material can easily be cleaned, which is really important to me. I’ve given this toy as a gift and purchased one for our home. Both times it has been a huge hit with the babies and their toddler cousins.

Older kids (4 + 6) enjoy the feel of them and their ability to stack at funny angles. It’s not a toy I’d buy for a 4 or 6 year old, but it’s nice that they enjoy playing with the younger kids.

My grandson really enjoys his new gift. He is one year old and loves knocking down any towers his parents stack up. He watches everything wobble around, too. He puts the little pieces inside the bigger ones.

And he also likes to put other toys inside the bigger pieces. Lots of exploration and fun!.

I actually thought the track was glow in the dark when I bought it, but it’s actually supposed to be the stickers. Unfortunately, I cannot get them to glow in the dark. I know there was a 2nd option when ordering but my packing slip says “Glow in the Dark”, but no where on the box does it say that, but the UPC numbers do match.

The stickers do look like they’d glow, but don’t even after leaving them in the light.

the jittery git dinosaur race track is a great toy. I got it for my grandson as an early xmas gift (in my house its always early xmas). when he first saw it he said yes please I like it very much. once it was delivered he went bananas, he loves this toy i would definitely recommend it.

also delivery was fast. big thumbs up!!!.

Ordered the glow in the dark version and what I received is not glow in the dark. Could have got many others with more features without the glow in the dark but really wanted my grandchildren to experience the glow feature.

Will either be returning or donating to avoid the hassle.
