20 Best Touchscreen Laptop Under 300 (2023 Updated)

I purchased the laptop on 6/14 but had to order it because the store didn’t have it in stock. The salesperson was very helpful in getting me through the process as I’ve never ordered an item or had one shipped to my home before.

It arrived on 6/17 and thought the Dark Moss color would bother me but I actually like it. I also like the smooth metal finish. Upon getting it set up which was much simpler than I thought it would be, I moved copies of my files from the cloud and downloaded only the apps I wanted to put on it, keeping it as uncluttered as possible.

Both transitions went smoothly and even getting my Office 2016 up and running was no problem. Although I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks it is a pleasure to use, though the numeric keypad has taken some getting used to because the touchpad is off center, it is something I wanted when doing research for the purchase.

The colors are bright and the sound is crisp and clear. The backlit keyboard is helpful when I’m in my room and the blinds are closed. I’ve used it in both tent and stand mode, the latter for playing games where a keyboard isn’t needed.

Having seen a couple of other reviews that the hinges may break I’ve been cautious when using the tent or stand modes. The battery definitely lasts a long time. I can take it outside and sit and work on it for a couple of hours and still have more than 70%.

Fingerprints are the only real problem I’ve had but I wipe the screen every night after I shut the laptop down. The only negative thing I’ve found is that when I flip it to use in tent mode the screen doesn’t follow and I’ve had to do it manually, the rotation lock doesn’t work for some reason.

It doesn’t bother me to do it manually as I don’t use it in tent mode very often. I admit I missed getting the sale price but since I needed a new laptop it was worth the price, as it had everything I wanted in a computer and it fits my needs perfectly.

Hi everyone, I have had my Yoga 9i since August. I didn’t have any problems with it freezing (requiring a reset, losing any current work) until September when I started using it more for grad school and my research, sadly past the return date from Best Buy.

My device freezes randomly with no indication of abnormal temperature changes, processes started, crash reports, CPU, GPU, or memory usage. I do nothing intensive on the device (sometimes literally nothing), and have actually been finding my phone to be more reliable to search the internet when sitting in front of my own computer.

I treat the entire machine as one large scratch directory. Factory resetting and reinstalling Windows has been the norm, instigated by Lenovo support countless times (I tried Windows 11 yesterday, it is a huge power drain and did not fix the problem).

I am unable to do anything that requires work on my machine since I can never trust when it will freeze next. I do all my work on servers or the web. Lenovo support initially addressed the problem with the usual paths of checking windows, drivers, resetting, but then they began sending technicians to repair hardware.

They replaced my motherboard, and later, my SSD. During the repairs, the technicians did something to cause my screen to be non-responsive to touch and my pen and lose functionality of some keys. Additionally, the service technicians replacing these parts have scheduled and rescheduled numerous times, resulting in me taking time off from work or missing classes to make appointments that end up not being followed through on.

They recently suggested sending the device back to the warehouse to fix it, but that would result in me losing my device entirely for days to weeks with no guarantee it will work or be new hardware. Retracing my steps with every Lenovo technician has resulted in hours lost on the phone with no resolution, causing stress and missing school or work.

Technicians have failed to follow through on initiating repairs, calling back, or helping me speak with supervisors to voice my concerns. Lenovo has scheduled a screen replacement to try and fix the loss of the touch screen.

I am concerned about the repair and if it will cause further issues with my device (and I will have to take time out of work/school again to have the repair expedited). I am sure Lenovo has lost more money building my piecemeal computer than they made selling it (the Ship of Theseus, computer version).

Sadly, I do not have that level of disposable income, with this device being the most expensive investment I have made in my future to date (despite school lol). I require a computer for my research, work, and education.

I am losing all faith in Lenovo to address this issue. I cannot believe I am having these problems with such a new machine.

The Lenovo Yoga is great, however, I was disappointed by the Geek Squad as they prepared by data and photos and set up the laptop. I initially went to Best Buy on 20 Dec 2021 to purchase a replacement battery for my HP Envy laptop I purchased in 2013.

No battery is available from HP for this laptop. I decided to purchase a new Lenovo Yoga 7i laptop. I was told that the Lenovo would be available in a week. I came back on 31 Dec 2021 to pick it up and take it to the Geek Squad (along with my HP laptop) for my data and photos to be transferred and for all of the applications that were on my HP’s taskbar to be installed on the Lenovo.

I asked the Geek Squad Agent to put all photos on a new EasyStore external hard drive that I had purchased with the new Lenovo. When I came back on 6 Jan 2022 none of the photos were transferred to the external hard drive, and only a few of the applications were installed on the new Lenovo.

They were very patient with the problem and I spent about 2 1/2 hours with the agent to get the photos and applications installed properly. When I got home, I realized that my Microsoft Outlook email was not working properly.

My email account is with Netzero, so it was not an easy install on Microsoft. I ended up installing my Netzero email myself. Then I realized that none of the links within my emails would open. I would get a dialog box that said I needed to check with my network administrator to get it corrected.

I called Geek Squad and eventually got a Level 3 Agent from India to take control of the laptop and diagnose the problem. He thought the Outlook application was not installed properly. I took the laptop back to the Geek Squad here in Riverdale, UT and the Agent found it was a computer setting that needed to be reset due to changing my Internet browser from Microsoft’s Edge to Google’s Chrome browser.

Overall, the Geek Squad helped me a great deal, but it took three visits and over 2 hours on the phone to a Level 3 Agent to get it all worked out. My recommendation is to be sure Geek Squad Agents are communicated well about what the customer needs and would like done.

Each time I came in to have an Agent look at my new Lenovo, they did not know any history nor did they seem to know what was needed to be done. I realize that it is impossible to get the same Agent from visit to visit, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic, but there must be a better way to be sure the communication is improved.

At the end of this review are benefits and cautions for anyone new to Chromebooks. I’m a retired engineer and very familiar with Chrome OS having used it for many years in laptop form. I bought this tablet mostly for playing media, reading ebooks, doing email and browsing, partly to evaluate it for suitability for my grandchildren.

I did some testing that a normal user wouldn’t, to see what their parents might experience and trying to support it This tablet does everything that my mid-range Acer Chromebook R11 convertible laptop does, just differently and in some cases better.

The Lenovo 10e Chromebook tablet has a better than average display and a quieter than average speaker output. The unit is well built and I believe it will take casual abuse. I bought the protective cover to make it easier for me to handle and the folio keyboard to use when I travel.

With the 10e and accessories currently on sale, they are a good value. The speaker audio is usable by one person with undamaged hearing In a moderately quiet area without using headphones. That may be ideal for the original intended user – a child in pre-K through second grade.

This tablet won’t disturb other people in the same room who are using other devices. As an older adult I found it necessary to use a Chrome accessibility extension to amplify the mid-range to use Netflix or YouTube.

The protective cover adds an extra layer of protection to everything except the screen. I suggest installing a plastic screen protector to keep the glass of the screen inside the case if it should be broken.

The folio keyboard does not convert the tablet into a laptop PC. It works properly only when supported by a hard flat surface and the tablet carefully and firmly seated. It is not usable as a laptop.

If the soft support at the back bottom of the case sags at all, the pogo pins of the keyboard lose contact and the keyboard works erratically. In tablet mode the Shelf is a floating bar, the Launcher app drawer is open, and the Chrome browser acts like the Android version.

When the keyboard or a mouse is connected, the tablet changes to mixed desktop mode, the Shelf is fixed and the Chrome browser is the desktop version. When the setup does an automatic installation, the Play Store is installed and the versions of Google Docs and YouTube installed by the “factory image” are the Android versions.

If you have a Google Chromebook desktop user profile, if you sign in with your normal account you will have two nearly identical icons for the desktop and Android versions. An Android user will probably prefer the Android versions.

I recommend that a parent create a “owner” profile and add another profile for each child. If you do a Powerwash on the 10e, the Launcher groups you created will be lost, but your data and preferences are preserved.

Android apps will be reinstalled from the Play Store and Google One will restore the rest from Drive. Benefits to Chromebooks A computer that “just works” for basic things you need to do. A short learning curve A Chromebook tablet does not work like a Windows, Apple or Android tablet or phone.

😀 I‘ve used all of the alternatives. Some are more powerful, some are easier to use, none are more secure or easier to support for the average person. Unless you choose to be a computer tech, “Chrome updates” are automatic, every 4-6 weeks.

Updates replace the entire operating system and download in the background. There aren’t multiple individual patches for you to worry about. You can work during an update while one downloads to an alternative part of the storage.

Nothing changes until you restart the device. From the user’s perspective an update takes 1 minute to restart and sign in. Antivirus software isn’t needed to protect the operating system( and can’t be installed.

) Cautions about Chromebooks: If the following is a problem for you – please don’t buy a Chromebook. You will have a learning curve to master using Chrome and tablet mode 4-6 hours. Unless you forgo the basic security and stability of Chrome OS, only some Android apps can be installed, and only from the Google Play Store, Windows apps cannot be installed on the 10e A Chromebook tablet does not work like a Windows, Apple or Android tablet or phone.

There are some similarities, but many differences in the UI, and you can only make small tweaks. :-C If you have a problem there are fewer people who understand ChromeOS available to “fix” it for you.

Nice bright 10″ screen, good performance from the 4GB ram and mediatek octocore cpu. Chrome runs its browser, native chrome apps, android apps from the google play store, and the majority of linux apps Since this is a google education directed product, it is expected to get system/security updates through 2028.

So you’ll actually get to use this as long as you want, not until someone stops updating it. Performance is very good, especially if you give it a minute or two after it boots. I set up my pixel phone to unlock it if I’m within range of the phone.

So I don’t have to log in every time, as long as the phone is nearby. You can use this with a compatible USI pen to write on, and pair it with a bluetooth keyboard to make it a full chromebook. I wouldn’t take reviews that say its “chunky” or “too thick”.

It’s literally almost identical in thickness/weight to most of the tablets that I’ve owned. In this case, so much was made of its alleged size that I thought I’d had the wrong one shipped to me when I opened it.

The USB-C slot will use a usb-c micro flash drive. I have one and stuck it in. I left the app storage on the internal 32GB, with media going to the removable storage. This way I can add 256GB of media storage to watch movies and whatnot, for times when its not on the charger.

Negates most concerns about “only” 32GB of storage. I’ve had chrome devices with 8 and 16GB storage and never ran out. The only things I used that were commonly over 32GB were movie files or lots and lots of photos or music.

If cloud storage is unavailable, a ‘travel router’ that accepts a flash drive or the little usb-c flash drives resolve that. Made for the classroom, so should be fairly rugged in everyday adult use. GREAT chromebook option for a kid.

For the money I think this is a fantastic little unit. It is surely slower than many of the Intel or AMD units out there, but what if lacks in speed it makes up for in other ways. First the good: Build quality is awesome for a unit in this price, the body is aluminum with a strip of good looking and feeling plastic along the top (I’d imagine for it’s wireless radios).

The lil thing feels like it should cost more. The use of a usb-c port is awesome as there are no proprietary chargers or anything to worry about, the unit can even be charged with a normal power bank for a phone etc.

The included kickstand, keyboard and mouse cover are nice add-ons. The kickstand portion and the keyboard portion are sperate and can be installed or removed individually. They attach magnetically and it’s super convenient.

They are plastic but feel fairly sturdy, the kickstand has a cool fabric covering while they keyboard has a more normal soft touch plastic, I believe this is to prevent the until from sliding or else I’d love to have seen the fabric.

The screen is really good for the price, the resolution is great, colors are good and it’s an IPS screen so off axis viewing is wonderful. In my year of ownership ive allowed this lil thing to serve as the only “computer” I bring on trips.

The 128gb (nice at this price) of storage allows me to store numerous Disney plus HQ movies and watch them on that great screen. Using Bose Bluetooth headphones works well and I have no audio delay when watching movies.

Battery life has been good and lasts for about 8 hours in my use (screen brightness high to max) Now for the bad. The truncated layout of the keyboard can be a little annoying and takes time to get used to.

I’m noticeably slower on this lil guy, the key travel is okay and the overall feel is fine (if your not trying to use in your lap). I couldn’t get a type-c to headphone adapter to work. Not sure if it’s the adapter or the device.

since BT worked I didn’t dig further. The mediatek APU in this thing is kind of a dog compared to it’s x86 counterparts. Its fine but only just. If they made a revised version with a better keyboard layout and an x86 APU for $50 more I’d be in.

Pros: I love this Chromebook! I bought this to replace my personal laptop and tablet. I use it for work and personal admin, browsing the internet, streaming TV, reading magazines/comics and light game play.

I’m new to Chrome OS but so far I’m enjoying it. I’m a fan of Google’s Pixels and their previous Nexus’ which host the lovely clean stock Android. For me, Chrome OS mirrors a stock version feel and just sticks to the basics; your profile and getting you on the internet.

There’s not much in the way of customisation on Chrome OS but I’m fine with that. Less faff, more getting on. The seamless switch between laptop mode and tablet mode by flipping the screen over, just seals it for me.

I can quickly jump from working on my accounts to reading a magazine or check Instagram. The fact in tablet mode it is it’s own stand is perfect for watching an episode in the bath or before going to sleep.

I’m pushed to get the full battery cycle out of it but I can be pretty full on when using this Chromebook, so it’s to be expected. But I do get a decent chunk of work done before reaching for the charger and, if not in use, appears to charge pretty quick.

I did extensive research before picking this Chromebook and knew exactly what I needed. I chose the i5 again as I like to have the extra power ready for when I need it. I was concerned about downsizing the screen but I don’t feel the impact at all on my spreadsheets.

This Chromebook is light enough I can pick up in one hand like one of my paper notebooks. It’s practical and fun. just wish they did it in pink! Cons: The only thing I’d like to change would be the look of this Chromebook.

I was replacing my Vaio Windows laptop in metallic pink, so had been a bit spoilt with looks. However, during my research, I felt other Chromebooks at the same spec looked sleek and stylish compared to Lenovo.

But with a lower price point and the 360 hinge feature for tablet mode, all in all it was a minor compromise for me.

I’ve had several chromebooks since around 2013; I have to say that this is the worst of them I’ve yet had! A real tragedy as I had been pretty meticulous about searching through critic review sites, reading reviews here, and being overall diligent in my search for a new chromebook to replace my Toshiba Chromebook 2, 2015 edition, which is undoubtedly a superior machine to this one.

I only went to replace it because it stopped getting automatic security updates, though it still works great in comparison to this absolute joke of a Chromebook. Obviously, this chromebook has a better processor, RAM, SSD, screen/everything else as it’s 5-6 years newer (except keyboard, the Toshiba Chromebook 2 has one of the best keyboards I’ve ever used), but what this Lenovo lacks is general ability to function properly.

Honestly, this chromebook crashes CONSTANTLY. It’s painfully annoying. Every single day this Chromebook will crash, run slow, freeze, not turn on, not turn off; I mean truly, it’s incomprehensible that this Chromebook sucks this much.

It shouldn’t, it has all the right component parts, it doesn’t seem to be terribly cheaply made and it’s definitely not the cheapest Chromebook option, but for whatever reason, this Chromebook has a hard time just managing Chrome which, um, kind of defeats the purpose of having a Chromebook.

My phone can handle more tabs seamlessly this this chromebook. That’s obscene and embarrassing. Skip this product, just upgrade your phone. It’ll be of more use than this machine. I only give it two stars for its aesthetic qualities and because I’m trying to convince myself I didn’t just light $400 on fire to buy this glorified trash.

This was listed as an “open box – excellent” device. Hardly. Now, for the deal I got, I would have put up with minor scratches, or small wear and tear. When I got this computer, I powered it on and it immediately opened a Network Connection screen to connect to Wi-Fi.

I noticed at the bottom of the screen there were icons and an “account” icon to click on. This is when I discovered I had been sold a Display. It wouldn’t connect to Wi-Fi, not my personal, not Best Buy’s when I asked the Geek Squad rep to help me (he was actually shocked that it wasn’t connecting to Wi-Fi as I and I’m sure he too, hoped it was just user error.

Now that’s just the technical issue, the laptop screen was chipped and the hinges were loose, so an adjustment or tilt towards me caused it to fall. The mousepad felt unsecured or loose as if it had (and I’m sure it was) been pushed too hard a few times.

When the Geek Squad sent it out for repair (nothing in store was comparable to pricing and my liking), it was returned back to me within a week’s time and was in the EXACT same condition — powered it up and the computer went directly to Network Connections asking me to connect to a Wi-Fi network and… Yep.

You guessed it, it won’t connect. Now riddle me this, in store the lady who helped me was SO nice, she stepped away from the counter while processing my return stating she had to connect it to Wi-Fi and reset it to perform the return.

TUH. I mentioned to her the decide not connecting to Wi-Fi has been my issue the whole time and is the biggest reason I’m returning it. I don’t know if it was ever reset or not because when she returned from the back, she finished my transaction with no further questions which I appreciated.

I feel that displays need to be completely destroyed and not be allowed to be sold no matter the condition. I’m just thankful not to be stuck with a brick at the end of all this.

This machine is a looker. With an Intel 7 processor and 16 GB Ram I have no problem with any task. It’s not a gaming machine but I can imagine that you can still do some light gaming. It is touchscreen and it has a backlit keyboard.

One of the new features is that it has a number pad that can be activated on the touchpad. Great for data entry. There are a few minor things to consider. 1. It does not have an audio jack but Asus did include adapters for one to be used with audio, and one for ethernet.

I have been using bluetooth headphones so that is not a big deal. 2. It also does not have a fingerprint reader, however, there is facial recognition so once again, not a big deal for me. 3. The keyboard is not full size.

I have small hands and I am still adjusting to this. All in all this is a very sturdy compact machine so if you are looking for an auxillary unit for travel and/or school, that can last all day, I highly recommend this laptop.

I own several laptops and I purchase them for friends and colleagues. There are a few brands and models that I stick to, especially when recommending to family and friends, and Asus Zenbook has been in the top 2.

This model is great value for money, love the OLED screen and keyboard layout. And I am happy that Asus chose to bring back some of the ports for connectivity while keeping the sleek form factor and light weight.

I was choosing between the XPS 13 and this ZenBook Flip but the OLED, Flip screen, and stylus pen won me over — and I don’t regret it. Asus customer service has also improved much over the years. If those aren’t enough, the 1 year accidental damage protection warranty is pretty hard to beat too.

Disclaimer: I am writing this review also to get an extended 3 month warranty add on to the 1 year international + 1 year accidental damage protection that comes with the laptop.

I bought this Asus ZenBook flip 13′ a week ago and couldn’t be happier! I previously had Microsoft Surface 7 and MacBook Air, and so far the Asus is quicker and easier to use. I use it mainly for work (Microsoft office programs), web browsing and tv series streaming.

The video quality is superb! Haven’t had any glitches so far. Very quick to start up, and I love the trackpad that transforms into a number pad with a long press, really nifty feature. Overall I’m extremely happy.

Asus is providing with 90 day extended warranty for writing this review.

Hardware is a 9/10, but Win11 with this display is awkward. Upgraded to this from a 2017 MSI ‘gaming’ laptop that started to have battery swelling issues. Ended up custom configuring this to the i7/32gb/1tb and whatever the top display option was.

This thing is slick. I initially thought the option to fold it back was a gimmick, but I actually find it quite useful if I am just sitting on the couch. The device feels like quality and the display is GREAT! Win11 seems to not like some of the display size/resolution configurations but it’s a minor nitpick.

The keyboard is nice, wish the arrow keys were full instead of compact but overall, 8/10 on keys. Trackpad is premium, smooth, and has the satisfying clicks when depressed. This is a business workhorse and works very well with two external 32″ monitors passed through a lightning dock for a full desktop triple screen experience.

I don’t plan to play games on it, and it wasn’t the intended purchase decision but soft games or anything streamed shouldn’t be an issue. This is clearly aimed at work-from-home, or office-to-home workers that need a quality less corporate-mass-produced machine that can accomplish any task thrown out it from a business standpoint/use case.

Would I edit movies or music on? No, probably not. Could it? Yes. Ideal use cases are people in clerical, accounting, law, customer-centric, data input, data driven fields. If you need a commuter, this device is it.

If you need to run business specific apps, this is your machine. Want to turn work off and have a great streaming device, this is it. I would be willing to develop software on this too, but under the guise that most of the code I develop would probably be cloud native and deployed to Azure – not run locally.

I think large scale development might be a bit much, but the capabilities are there if you need them. I think this is the perfect work-school-home device.

This Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 (16″ AMD) – 82RA000JUS is my first AMD system ever. It is truly impressive. Despite the limitations of being equipped with merely 8GB LPDDR4X-4266MHz (Soldered) the performance is surprisingly quick.

The 2-in-1 design gives it versatility, as do the 16″ WUXGA (1920 x 1200), IPS, 45% NTSC, 300 nits, 60Hz Touchscreen and touch sensitive Lenovo Digital Pen. (Though the it is high gloss, the screen remains relatively smudge-free) Naturally, the keyboard has the renowned Lenovo tactile feedback.

It is disappointing that the backlit keyboard cannot be set (even from within the BIOS) to remain on continuously as with the Lenovo laptop that this replaced. Unfortunately, it is only offered in an 8GB RAM configuration.

This is curious, especially when its documents specify that it does support up to a total of 16GB. The build quality is very high. It has a very solid feel with an aluminum top and an ABS composite base.

1 HDMI, 1 USB-C, 2 USB-A, 1 SDXC SD Card reader, and 3. 5mm stereo-mic ports, plus the latest Wi-Fi & Bluetooth protocol make this system compatible with many current and legacy devices. It has other inputs with a multiple point Touch Pad, 1080p FHD Camera, and a Fingerprint Reader.

The Micron 512GB M. 2 2242 PCIe Gen4 TCL SSD benefits the overall performance significantly. After Windows 11 updates, installing several applications, and updating drivers, the Fingerprint Reader no longer is functional.

Windows Face Recognition never was functional. Clearly, these are software issues yet neither Microsoft nor Lenovo support have the correct answers. It has become evident that I must resolve these issues myself (no surprise).

Is this system perfect? No. And nor is their support (little expertise beyond reading from a script). However, with a few simple improvements it would come extremely close. I can highly recommend it (If hardware and software conflicts are not a deterrent).

I bought the 2-in-1 lenovo yoga 6 laptop in 2023. In general, all features are perfect ! But the clampshell design is not good for mobility ! ALL PERSONAL MOBILITY LAPTOPS MUST HAVE MONOLITH DESIGN, AS MICROSOFT SURFACE AND IPAD PRO M1.

The monolith design guarantees compactness, steady design, and maximum comfort. The monolith design with thickness equal to the thickness of current clampshell lenovo yoga 6 will allow more space for batteries, while still keep more compactness and comfort than the clampshell design.

I often use physical keyboard of laptops, but i often use onscreen keyboard in often light duty tasks (read newspapers, surface facebooks, social nets, exp. ), too. Thus the clampshell design is very uncomfortable for me in very often common everyday tasks, as reading newspapers, facebook, tiktok, messages,.

Every time of use, with clampshell design, i must open or spin the clampshell, and it is uncomfortable. In open state, the clampshell design inflict very bad uncomfortable geometry to hold on hands. When convert the clampshell laptop into tablets, the physical keyboards at back side create difficulty to hold on hands, and of course more unnecessary weight.

For me, clampshell design of my 2-in-1 lenovo yoga 6 laptop is very unconfortabe. It is better to remove the physical keyboard from the laptop to convert the laptop into monolith design with more space for batteries, and with detachable physical keyboard.

Why do i have to always hold and cary the physical keyboard of the laptop when i often do not use the function of physical keyboard ? I hope that next general personal mobility Lenovo laptop will be monolith designs.

I am a 75 year old, and I only you it for emails, google search, maps, documents, excel spreadsheets, banking, and paying bills and some extras. I need Windows 10 or 11 for Turbo Tax. So this laptop is so great for my daily use.

The pictures are so pretty, I love it. For the price, I am getting all the stuff I need. Speed is very good too. It came with Windows 10 and then upgrade to Windows 11. Very easy and convenient. Very happy with it.

No complaints at all.

The computer is great. It does what laptops do. My only real complaint is that the speakers are on the BOTTOM of the computer??? And it really messes the sound up if you put it on other surfaces. It’s just weird and the sound gets muffled when you put it on anything.

I wish I looked harder at this computer before buying it because I wouldn’t have gotten it if I’d noticed BOTTOM SPEAKERS.

Context: I got this laptop to replace my old one as it was struggling to keep up with my activities and this laptop was on a crazy good sale for $699. I was a little hesitant in purchasing it as I’ve had friends whose hinges have broken on this model but ultimately decided it was worth a shot.

When it arrived, there was a gaping hole in the back of the box/package, though that likely was shipping’s mistake rather than best buys. Thankfully, I could not find any signs of damage, but it’s possible my experience was minorly influenced by that.

The laptop itself is pretty nice, especially for the price I got it at, but there were enough small problems with it that I ended up returning it. Pros: I like the color and sleekness of the design. It’s got a light sheen to it without getting too reflect-y.

I haven’t noticed any glare on the screen and the color/saturation is pretty good as well. I’ve been happy with its brightness levels, as it can go several levels higher than on my old laptop. I love that the screen really maximizes its space.

This is a 15. 6 in but only slightly larger than my old 14 in. It’s not crazy light, but for the size and specs, it’s not too heavy. The laptop stands on its own pretty well when in an upside-down position and doesn’t try to close further while tapping the screen.

I haven’t had any issues with the touchscreen as it responds well and doesn’t lag. The screen’s texture had a tiny bit of drag but I’d say is pretty good overall. Even though it needs the fan more than I’d like, I never had the computer heat up a ton which is very nice.

Cons: After thoroughly examining it and not seeing any signs of damage, I messed around with the hinges a bit. They seemed sturdy enough but did have a little bounce when I open the laptop. It seemed to work fine in tablet and upside-down mode, and the light bounce didn’t really bother me but if you use the touchscreen while in regular laptop position, I could see it getting very annoying very quickly.

I was not particularly impressed with the design in general. The image makes it look like the speakers are on the sides of the keyboard area, but the sound definitely comes from the bottom. In general, the quality was not great and super muffled due to its location.

I also noticed right off the bat that the touchpad and keys were pretty loud. This is something I hadn’t thought much about before, but this laptop’s definitely louder than my old one. The touchpad has just a tiny bit less glide than I’d like, but the light “thud” sound it made every time I tapped was definitely the bigger problem for me.

My touchpad making sound is an indicator that I physically pushed the click area down rather than just tapping, so the constant tap sound here bothers me a lot. The keys are also a bit annoying. I appreciate having some sound when I press a key down, but I found myself getting distracted by the sounds from this keyboard.

Finally, and my biggest reason for returning, is that the capacity just wasn’t enough for me. I was coming from a Ryzen 5 3000 series with 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD, and no touchscreen/2-in-1. Considering the serious upgrade in each of those areas, I was expecting a much larger difference than I got.

If I had over 20ish tabs open, the fan would start going and it didn’t take much more to start pushing my specs to their limits. In my task manager, my memory never dropped below 65% and it, my disc, and occasionally my CPU would often reach the 90-100% area.

Considering that’s with mostly regular sites and I do digital art/light gaming, I was very unimpressed that it was already struggling before I’d even opened those. I’ll definitely be going for a 16gb instead to feel secure for my art/gaming, but I would also recommend that for any fellow tab hoarders out there, this computer isn’t really built for more than 15-20 tabs without starting to struggle a fair bit.

Overall: 4 stars since its problems are more annoyances than large fallacies. If you aren’t a gamer/digital artist/editor/tab hoarder/etc, I would guess this computer would do well for you. The keypad and touchpad might take some getting used to, but those could probably be adjusted to fairly quickly.

The audio is definitely a drawback, but if you aren’t using it for music or things, it still is pretty understandable. Overall, definitely not the laptop for me, but I could see it being a great laptop for someone else.

PROS: Gorgeous (if a bit glossy) screen; lightweight; one of the fastest processors available — for now; CONS: No RJ-45 input; Windows 11 software still unstable; surprisingly poor graphics. I had high hopes for this model.

I ordered it July 4, 2022 — and Best Buy delivered it the next day. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. It’s clear that HP and W11 still don’t play nice together — this computer, like other HPs I’ve tried, has various issues with W11 instability.

But unlike the others, I was able to install a fresh copy of Windows 10 (version 21H2) on this model with ease — and that all but eliminated most software issues. But, to my eyes, the much bigger problem is the graphics component.

I don’t buy computers willy nilly — I do a lot of research beforehand. In researching this laptop, I found two credible websites that indicated the AMD Ryzen 5 5625u processor is supposed to come with a powerful iGPU — Radeon RX Vega 7 graphics, with up to 2 GB of VRAM.

Nope. This model comes with only a standard graphics card — and just 512 mb of VRAM. My eyes clearly see the difference between such a card — and my other computer with 2 GB of VRAM. There’s no legitimate reason why a computer normally retailing for $800 has such a comparatively poor graphics package.

If you’re less picky about graphics performance, this may well be a fine laptop for you. But if you are more selective about such things — then you may want to wait for the forthcoming Ryzen 6000 series models.

Originally I bought an HP Envy 8 GB/256 GB with an i5 processor laptop. I also purchased an additional 8 GB of expanding memory and I told the sales person the additional 8 GB of memory was to upgrade the memory of this laptop.

The sales person did not tell me the memory on this model was not expandable. To make a much longer story shorter, I found out shortly that the memory on this laptop was not expandable. Because of the way I use a computer (with lots of programs open) this new laptop quickly started to bog down.

I went back to Best Buy expecting a fight to return the laptop. The manager I spoke to (Shay) was very helpful and told me not to worry – to go buy the upgraded laptop I wanted, then have my data moved to the new computer – then return the first computer.

That is exactly what I did and Best Buy took the first laptop back. The HP Envy with 16GB/512GB with i7 processor I bought second is perfect. It has the capacity and speed to easily manage all the programs I keep open while working.

This is my 4th HP laptop over 12 years. I have never really had any hardware challenges. In spite of the many challenges you typically hear about doing business with Big Box stores – Best Buy came through this time with flying colors – other than the original sales person I worked with could have been better trained to know that the original laptop I purchased was not expendable.

I have purchased many electronics from Best Buys over the years. TV’s (I mean TV’s not flat screens – that’s how long ago it was), sound systems, Flat screens and many more things. Thanks for making this experience a positive one!.

Overall, spec wise, this laptop is hard to beat for the price when on sale. All aluminum case feels super well built and is packed with features. Backlit keyboard is nice and feels amazing The screen is super colorful and bright (400 nits) Great cpu Fast charging and decent port selection.

Where I question the build is. I got one and the screen did not sit 100% flush along the body. When the lid is open, you can see on the right side there is a gap in the corner between the screen lid and body and in the left side, it sits lower.

This by a few mm but still noticeable The trackpad also, for this price, should be a glass trackpad but it’s not. The click is nice and is super precise but, at 1100$ when not on sale, should be glass.

It also sits uneven slightly in the body as the right bottom corner sits slightly lower than the other corners that are flush. Onboard ram, why. no upgradability but should be good for a few years. Just don’t buy this with the intent of future proofing your purchase.

8 GB should be fine for most but not if you’re into intense video editing for example. Overall, on sale, very good buy even with those questional build issues. They are minor and don’t take away from the overall experience.

Maybe just get an extended warranty.

The linux support out of the box is very good. The wifi module needs kernel 5. 16 or newer, but if you meet that prerequisite virtually everything else works perfectly. Suspend/resume, frequency scaling, wifi, bluetooth, touchscreen, backlight controls (keyboard and screen), audio/volume, accelerometer, and everything else I could think to try works.

The sole exception is the fingerprint reader: some synaptics model that `fprintd` doesn’t support (yet) out-of-the-box. The integrated Vega graphics are natively supported via open source drivers and perform great at compositing and gaming.

The 8C/16T Ryzen 5800U chews through the many compile tasks I have thrown it while providing amazing battery life (varies, but often well past 10hrs). The 16GB RAM is soldered but should be enough for me for a long time.

I have the luxury of being able to compare this side-by-side with a recent Dell XPS 13. The build quality and comfort is a tiny bit better on the XPS (the rubberized carbon fiber to rest my palms on is missed).

The XPS also has a nicer 16:10 screen. But with the lower price, much higher performance, vega graphics, and better battery life, I’d pick this any day for use as a linux development workstation. This laptop earns direct comparison with the XPS 13, even if the price suggests otherwise.

Shockingly (and probably owing to solid support for Ryzen APUs in linux) the linux support is also in the same league as the venerable XPS, at least with linux 5. 16 or greater. I have a nice USB-C dock and wasn’t sure if the laptop would charge that way since it comes with an old-school barrel plug and the included adapter uses that.

I’m please to report all of my USB-C PD charging adapters will charge this laptop via USB-C. They are all at least 65W so not sure what the minimum spec is. Wish this had USB-C ports on both sides and used USB-C to charge exclusively.

The extra IO and charging flexibility would have been appreciated.

I have mixed feelings about this PC. I actually wish I could return it for the smaller version I originally wanted, but I am out of the country and I assume it would pose a big hassle. Pros: Size of the screen is good for excel and using apps side by side and it works acceptably well with the hp pen (sold separately).

For a student it’s useful in this regard. The body looks and feels nice and it seems sturdy enough to survive being carried around daily. HDMI, USB and USB-C ports are a big plus and gives you variety.

Touch screen and 360 movement gives you multiple viewing and use options. Cons: It’s a 15. 6″ PC but somehow it’s longer than it’s peers, meaning it doesn’t fit in any and every laptop sleeve. HP has special products that fit it though.

The extra space used for the speakers on the side is not very useful since the audio is average and the keyboard placement of the home, end and delete keys is a pain and takes some getting used to. Too many times my curser jumps around the page when typing because of this (it really drives me crazy).

There is a large speaker below the laptop that doesn’t make much sense as even on solid surfaces the sound gets muffled. If this was rectified, the audio would pair well with the large screen for movie viewing.

The RAM is not stellar and I’ve had the laptop freeze on me a few times already so be mindful if you like to run multiple apps at once and don’t shut down daily. It runs hot pretty fast when in use and because of the large and Long size, plus the almost non-existent screen boarder makes using it in tablet mode very clunky and annoying.

the touch screen reacts to any skin, so an accidental touch messes many things up. Overall, I wish I could be happy about this purchase but unfortunately I’m not. This doesn’t mean it’s a bad device, just not the right one for me.

I work as a Tier 2 tech on computers so it takes me forever to pick anything up as I over research it. My wife needed a computer to run the cricut software and a touchscreen was going to help. I researched all of the different brands and options for a 2-in-1 laptop for the price I was willing to spend.

Pros: AMD Ryzen 5 5625U is a reliable and fast processor. It’s perfect midranged for any PC. Wi-Fi 6E (2×2) and Bluetooth combo is the new normal and it’s quick and has less issues then prior version 360° geared hinge: is really strong and I don’t worry about it breaking with constant use Cons: 8 gb memory – most companies are trying to save money by only offering 8gb and while I do suggest 16 for the price 8 is good.

I want to add that unlike other competitors this laptop does not have the memory attached to the board with sauder. It also has a 2nd memory slot so it’s easy to upgrade (If you know what your doing).

I did put it as a negative because they added 2x4gb chips so you have to get a full replacement or just upgrade to 12gb when you do. Neutral: 256 GB PCIe NVMe M. 2 SSD is not the best drive due to the size.

Most people won’t have an issue with it and it can be upgraded. It is a fast little drive but 512 is really the min I would suggest. Check out the Samsung 980 or 980 EVO drives they are an amazing upgrade with quick boot.

Graphics: AMD Radeon Graphics – This is a good built in graphics and for the price it’s all you really can get. It’s not gamer level but it is consumer level. Just know what you are buying and don’t expect to run your games at 4k.

Overall: I would really suggest this laptop for most consumers. It is not a gaming laptop but it’s not meant to be one. If you are looking for school, work, or pretty much anything expect for gaming or programming this will suit your needs.

The biggest plus is unlike the Dell and Lenovo 2-in-1 you can upgrade because of how it was built. Solid laptop I would suggest.

There are many good things to say about this laptop. First of all the display is excellent; it has very good saturation, crisp text and overall excellent brightness. I currently have it set on a value of 60 and this is quite bright.

The initial set-up of the machine was super easy. The combination of the fingerprint scanner and the power button is good. Since this laptop has the Intel evo certification it has been tested and must pass certain requirements to obtain that certification and it certainly does.

From the time you touch that fingerprint/power button to useable Windows is seconds; it’s really fast. It’s equally fast opening programs and working with them. On-screen displays pop up with different key combinations to let you know when you activate various functions such as Caps Lock, Keyboard Backlight, etc.

Very nice. There are reviews out there that mention the flex in the unit. Well, I don’t really notice any extreme flex, I can easily pick it up from either corner without any noticeable flex. In any case it is not creaky or noisy when you do pick it up from one side.

Which brings me to weight; no computer this large (16”) should weigh this little! You mind plays tricks on you because you see this larger device on your desk and you anticipate it being heavy, but when you pick it up, well it is not heavy at all.

In fact, the advertised weight of my MacBook Air (early 2015 13. 3 inch) is 2. 38lbs, this LG is only 2. 62lbs; amazing. The track pad is large and just slightly off-center to the left not; really noticeable, but a good placement to help avoid unintentional input from it when typing.

It is very responsive to clicking and tracking as well as scrolling. I have had absolutely no issues with unregistered or extra clicks, it just works flawlessly. The keyboard has good size and feel to it with good travel and is backlit.

You can adjust the level of backlighting via the Fn+F8 option, and you can even set a “time out” for the backlight to turn off vial the LG Control Center. There is also a numeric keypad on the deck. The bundled LG Control Center makes it easy to see how things are set up on the computer and very easy to make changes from one central place.

Definitely a good piece of extra software as is the LG Update Center which takes care of drivers and such that LG specifically installed that are not part of Windows Update. I don’t doubt that the advertised battery life is achievable, but realistically I am getting about 14-16 hours from it.

That is to be expected as I changed the default behavior of the display battery saver in the Intel Graphics control from level 6 (most conservative) to level 3. This gives me a good balance of display quality and battery life.

Should I ever need to approach those higher battery numbers I would simply change that level back to 6. Also my normal activities do involve some battery draining actions, such as online games. A far as upgrading well the memory is soldered to the system board so what you buy it with is fixed.

There is however a second NVMe slot inside the unit that will accommodate another SSD should you ever want to add storage. Note that to take off the bottom cover you do have to remove the feet as they hide screws.

Heat of the unit is not really a problem either; there are professional reviews out there that measure temperatures, but I can say this; is it as cool on the lap as my 2020 M1 MacBook Air? No. But it is no where near as warm as my Mid 2010 MacBook Pro.

I have to mention the display again, because it is absolutely perfect. When you look at the image quality this display produces, you cannot say enough about it. So if you are looking for a light and quick laptop with a large screen (16” 2560×1600) with excellent saturation and color reproduction, that is quiet and a pleasure to use…well, you found it!.

I needed an updated laptop as my i5 8250U chipped laptop was sometimes struggling to drive a big 4k screen when there were a lot of windows active and lots of cameras on in Zoom calls. Costco ran this LG laptop at a very good price for Black Friday so I retired the old laptop a bit early.

Good points: Good internal spec. Unless you like playing games you will find this set up fast & capable for pretty much everything. Really good screen. 99% colour gamut & higher than HD resolution is great.

Even if you don’t edit photos you’ll like it. Real number pad on the keyboard! Not embedded in the letters like smaller laptops. It really is very light indeed and the power pack is reasonably compact.

Every time I pick it up I’m surprised at how little it weighs. Battery life is good and as it’s only a week old it’s getting better. It can cope with a 10 hour day working with Office apps on battery.

I haven’t tried any heavy photo editing etc. on battery yet. It comes with a little rubber keyboard protector. I don’t use it but if you want to use the laptop in the kitchen for recipes or while you’re eating breakfast it’s a very handy little addition.

Not so good: Keyboard is a bit clacky and doesn’t ooze quality. It’s a big laptop and the keys seem a long way away. You’re sort of reaching over half the laptop to reach the keys which makes it tiring to type a lot of text.

They could shrink the oversized touchpad and move the keys closer. If you lock the number pad on you need to hold down the Fn key to use Home & End! What were they thinking about? I guess I’ll get used to this but really.

When you close the lid to put the laptop to sleep there’s no way of knowing if it’s actually asleep. Other laptops will have a flashing yellow LED or similar so you can see if something wakes it up and starts eating the battery.

I would really like this functionality. Maybe this isn’t the laptop’s fault but my bluetooth headset connects even when the laptop is asleep. My other laptop doesn’t do this and I wish the Gram didn’t either.

It’s probably a setting somewhere in the BIOS. Obviously every review of every laptop has to complain about the ports. I need an SD port (full size please) so I bought a little USB-C dock which has extra USB ports, LAN, SVGA etc.

The camera is good rather than great. Good enough for family Zoom calls but if you make a living delivering online meetings you’ll want something better. Speakers are good enough for listening to radio or a movie but you really notice the improvement when you plug in external speakers for music.

As always I’m not interested in freeware so McAfee went straight away and I’ll have a look at the Cyberlink stuff but they’re unlikely to stay. I’ve no idea what the various LG apps do but so far they don’t seem to be using up too much resources so I’m leaving them for the time being.

Probably the biggest issue is the super-sensitive touch pad. Instead of the left & right buttons being fully separate from the pad they are still part of the pad so you’ll find yourself zooming in on pages when you are just trying to left click.

Obviously a wireless mouse solves this at your desk but I still use a laptop on the move quite a lot and I’d prefer not to have to keep undoing things that I’ve done by accident. Overall it is a great machine and highly recommended if you find it a the right price.

In short – the laptop is really great but it has some quirks. Pros: It has a really good battery life despite having such a big and beautiful display. It’s super light for it’s size, and the build quality is solid even though I was a little skeptical.

But rest assured, the laptop feels well-built for everyday use. Also, the laptop stays super quiet and cool even under heavy load which is pretty cool. Things that annoy me: If you’re coming from a MacBook, you’ll probably not like the trackpad at first.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s really good according to Windows laptop standards but lacks that response. The second thing that annoys me is the keyboard which is a little mushy and sometimes doesn’t pick up key-presses, but this only happens 5% of the time.

Cons: Sadly, the only thing that I hate about this laptop is the raw CPU performance. I get that to keep the laptop cool, quiet, thin, and get amazing battery life, LG had to reduce the performance but this is way too slow for an 11th Gen i7 laptop.

I’m happy to trade in 2-3 hours of battery to get more performance but this laptop just doesn’t do that. I wish LG could have given a “high performance” mode in exchange for battery life for a couple of hours.

Despite the issues, this laptop is a great choice if you don’t care much about the performance. Cheers!.

My boyfriend spent over a thousand dollars on this after all fees and extra costs were included and it’s one of our biggest regrets with buying tech. When I first started using it, it would ask to restart every other day, refusing to connect to the wi-fi unless I restarted it.

It’s been five months and we’re at the point were the laptop asks to restart several times a day, refusing to connect to wi-fi until it restarts. These are not requests for updates either. There are no viruses or any bugs affecting my laptop.

We’ve made sure all drivers and ports are squared away. This is an HP doing what classic HP does. I was so excited to get out of having a Chromebook, another HP product that is famously known for always needing to restart as well, and here I am, with the same HP problem.

My experience with HP the past ten years has been like sticking with a cheap car brand, because it’s affordable you buy it, but after you own it, you realize why it’s so terribly mediocre. To note, I do not use this laptop to its full potential.

Plenty of memory still left on it, I mostly browse the internet and send some emails, no streaming or uploading of any kind. I’m too scared to venture into using this model for the reason I bought it – the drawing tablet HP was so proud to create for this model – because I just know I will be entirely disappointed.

Why? Because the laptop already regularly loses my webpages and emails as I’m using them, there’s no telling when it wants to restart, but once it wants to, anything using the internet is cut off and not retrievable after the restart.

I can’t imagine creating a work of art or just even having a little fun doodling, only for the laptop to decide it wants to restart and lose everything. I DO NOT recommend this product from HP. I am so verily disappointed.

The sales tech at Best Buy was so firm in his pitch to buy this product and we are so sad we listened. We should have gotten out of the HP brand when we had the chance. I’m going to Office Space this garbage HP Envy – it’s that terrible.

Unfortunately, had to exchange this device for something that could handle a bit more productivity. I work from home as Telehealth and was looking for an upgrade, settled with an upgradeable Dell laptop instead.

I’ll list the pros and cons that pertain to those who may also be looking at this to work from home with: Pros: – Light/Thin easy to carry around – Touchscreen (I never used it) – Trackpad and keys feel nice to type on and use – WindowsHello and Fingerprint sensor security Cons (for my personal work): – 1080p on 12.

4″ screen is tough when running Excel and multiple windows – RAM is non-upgradeable (this was my #1 issue, apparently my workload requires ~16GB) – Only comes with 128GB SSD for the price (I returned this for a Dell that was $50 cheaper and included 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD) – The most annoying con was not only for me, but also my coworkers over Zoom/Teams and it was the fan never stopping while it’s plugged in.

After an update didn’t resolve the fan noise, I reached out to Microsoft and they told me to just exchange it because it’s a “defect. ” I decided to just not deal with it anymore. It created a specific frequency of whining that wasn’t high in decibels, but the microphone could pick it up and it became annoying quite quick.

There’s no way to control the fan either, the only way it would stop was if you unplugged the power and forced the laptop into low-power mode. I found multiple sources with hundreds of other dissatisfied customers with this same issue.

If none of these cons bother you, the laptop overall is a solid purchase. The components are good, Microsoft is excellent at building laptops and their Surface line gives Apple a run for their money.

Although, I would only use this if I were an undergrad again and had access to headphones!.

First off, I want to talk about how great the Microsoft Surface looks and it runs so smoothly. The Microsoft surface is sleek and easily portable. It comes with a MagSafe charger that locks into the charging port for a fast and easy charge.

You can customize the background and lock-screen with personal photos. It also has a fingerprint scanner for easy access when logging in. It comes with a search button for easy access to the internet for any questions you may have.

This is the first laptop I’ve ever bought and I’ve been happy with my purchase. I’ve enjoyed how easy it has been to use this product and how simple it is. I’ve had only one problem with it since i’ve received it.

I tried turning it on, but it wouldn’t turn on. I plugged it up, I tried pressing/holding the power button, and I tried turning, closing, and opening it up again to no avail. Eventually after a couple of minutes of panic and fear that my laptop had just given up on me, but it finally had turned on.

When you first open the laptop it welcomes you and takes you through the steps of setting up your account. This makes the tedious process of setting up your laptop and accounts; an easy process. Microsoft Surface is a great laptop for multiple uses, like office work, school, gaming, etc.

It’s an extremely diverse laptop with multiple features and abilities. One thing I don’t really care for is the MagSafe charger, only because it slips out with a light tug from the cord. So you might come back to a dead laptop just because you accidentally tripped over the cord without noticing.

I like to play games on it in my free time; so I have a slight problem with how the fan gets a little loud trying to keep the laptop cool. Though I try to keep in consideration that this isn’t a gaming laptop.

As far as work features, I’ve used the Microsoft touch to do my homework and driving school. It works very well and the keyboard layout is very nice in my opinion. In conclusion, it’s a great laptop for those who don’t want a laptop that only does one thing.

I genuinely enjoy this product and hopefully, it stays that way throughout my use of it. I will come back and edit this review if that isn’t the case but for now, this laptop gets a 4 out of 5 from me.

Only because the one time it wont turn on and how easy it is for the charger to fall out.

I bought this for my elderly Mom, who needed a laptop that was lightweight and small but still had a decent keyboard and display, didn’t get too hot and had acceptable performance when doing basic browsing and email.

This little laptop checks all those boxes, and the price was definitely a plus. With limited RAM, storage and good, but low end, processor and graphics, this laptop is not a good choice for heavy gaming or intensive document/photo processing but it is a great little machine for basic tasks.

My Mom loves it and uses it for several hours a day to watch Great Courses classes, read email and shop. It also loads smaller Word and Excel docs without struggling or overheating, and the battery lasts pretty much all day.

With Cloud storage, the lack of internal storage isn’t going to be a problem for her. I’m considering getting one of these for travel, but probably would opt for a model with more RAM. The size and weight make this very attractive for trips when all you need is something for email, surfing and Word/Excel.

It does have a USB-C port so you could get an adapter to use an SD card if Cloud storage access isn’t reliable. I do wish Microsoft would scuttle that proprietary adapter but oh well – every rose hase at least one thorn.

Design – 9/10 (Aluminum chassis gives the laptop a premium feel and durability) Build Quality – 8/10 (Build quality is great but not the best) Display – 9/10 (16:10 aspect ratio with 3K IPS panel is a treat for all the coders and content creators out there.

A faster refresh rate could have been more satisfying) Keyboard – 7/10 (Typing experience on this keyboard is pretty good but certainly not the best) Trackpad – 4/10 (Behaves erratic most of the time, hope they fix it with a Software update) Performance – 9/10 (Intel 11th Gen Core i7 H-series Tiger Lake processor handles almost all the heavy-duty tasks you throw at it without any hiccups.

I mainly use it for productivity with occasional casual gaming like FIFA21, and this boy has never disappointed me. One less star for the fan noise it makes during high load, which is not load but not silent either) Speakers – 7/10 (Audio quality is passable for a laptop.

In Dell India website, its mention that RTX 3050 model boasts 3 fans and 5 heat pipes, whereas it comes with only 2 fans and 3 heat pipes. Dell should look into such misleading information that has been put on Dell India website very seriously.

2. Trackpad behaves erratic most of the time. I believe it’s a software issue that many have already complained about. I use a separate Keyboard & Mouse so not much bothered about it. 3. I was expecting a fairly good battery life from this boy but it has been a below average experience based on my usage.

I would definitely recommend this boy to those who are looking for a great productivity laptop, with great performance and good display at a reasonable price. Just make sure you could live with the above drawbacks that I have just mentioned.

CONS: – First, I need to say how poor the color quality and brightness of the screen is. It’s bad, and I usually don’t notice these things. If you’re planning on editing photos or videos, don’t even CONSIDER this laptop.

Luckily the AMD video drivers allow me to correct the colors partially so I can tolerate them now. The brightness doesn’t bother me because I only ever use this laptop indoors. – Second, OUT OF THE BOX the cooling was terrible – there was a graphite thermal pad on top of the CPU, and a dab of thermal paste.

As a result, the machine was overheating and thermal throttling as SOON as I hit it with a real load like a 3D video game. Once I let it go for a minute and it quickly hit 120°C and shut down. After replacing the thermal paste with some Arctic MX-5 and dumping that pointless graphite pad, the laptop is now acceptable for gaming, and everything else it does very quickly and quietly, I can up the power to 25-30W and with the fan at 100% it sits at 85-90°C.

Upgrade your RAM if you don’t have 16GB too and you plan to play games. – Third, get rid of Windows 11, it sucks for now – download the Windows 10 media creation tool, install it to a USB stick, and install Windows 10 instead.

The license works perfectly fine, there are no issues at all. PROS: – Really cool convertible form factor, the body is very thin and sleek-looking, nice thin bezels – Very fast performance with the 5500U, and you can also set it to battery saver and it’s still quick enough while sipping on power and staying quiet (the fan will be always off pretty much) – Upgradeable SSD, upgradeable RAM, easy to service the insides and replace parts, very good – The keyboard is nice, the backlighting has 2 levels (OFF-low-high), and you can lock the Fn key on/off whenever you like without going to the BIOS – The laptop comes with a USB C charger which can charge your phone, which is awesome, and if your phone charger is 35W or higher, you can charge your laptop with your phone charger.

I purchased this laptop from Dell’s website and feel compelled to write a review due to my disappointment with this expensive laptop. If you want a touchpad that works properly, then this is NOT the laptop for you.

When the touchpad first started playing up very occasionally, only two weeks after purchase, I initially put it down the immature and buggy Windows 11 operating system installed on the laptop. Now here I am a couple of weeks further on again, and the touchpad becomes unresponsive two or three times a day, with the cursor sticking and juddering when you try to move it, all the while somehow causing applications to open.

Sometimes you have to use two fingers to get the cursor to move at all rather than one. And yes, BIOS, drivers and Windows itself are fully patched. Support Assist keeps telling me there are no further updates.

I have now done research on this, and found that this seems to be a widespread issue with this laptop, reported across many threads on Dell’s own forums and also on Reddit. I have tinkered with driver settings and power settings, recommended by various other struggling users on these threads, to no avail.

My 30 years of working in IT and working on countless other Dell desktops and laptops has not been of use in fixing this issue. In short, the laptop I received is absolutely not fit for purpose, and I shall have to open a case with Dell Support.

Sadly I fear I am just over the 30 day return term otherwise I assure you that I would be returning the laptop and asking for my money back. I hoped for better from a laptop that cost me over £1300. I have gone back to using a 12 year old laptop from another manufacturer as at least on this a basic input device like a touchpad works correctly.

Also, the fans seem very noisy, even when the laptop is not under much load, so if fan noise bothers you then this is another strike against this machine.

NOTE: This review is from a light user, who does not edit photos or videos, or do any sort of heavy gaming Build quality is great, the laptop feels sturdy Comes with a stand, laptop sleeve and stylus included For anyone who is regularly multitasking, 2 screens is the way to go, it’s not just a gimmick The screen is vibrant, sound is good as well Good selection of ports, covers all bases So far the performance has been great, no complaints whatsoever.

However, I’d like to point out I’m not a heavy user of editing software or large games The keyboard is slightly smaller than what I’m used to, but I am adjusting to it with time. The trackpad is absolutely tiny, so get yourself a wireless mouse ASAP SCAN as a retailer is also great.

Fast delivery, great customer service as well Given what I use this laptop for, I would recommend this laptop to anyone with the right budget.

I have a couple other HP laptops with i5 processors and they were quite good; the only shortcoming was their screens, not the same as in this 15. 6″ i7 machine. This screen is crystal clear, and as bright or as muted as the user chooses.

And processing time compared with the i5 laptops I’ve had is about 2x to 3x faster in comparison. I went back and forth between a 15″ and 17″ laptops; but the 17″ models are simply too large for a portable device.

I use mine at home 90+ percent of the time, but I do move it from my den to my another room. And lugging the 17″ just wouldn’t have worked for me. If you’re going to treat as a desktop, you may never move it.

Anyway, this model fits the bill for this old guy. Even with aging eyes, I can work with this screen size. T he keyboard is not an issue; and the battery life seems to be okay. Who doesn’t want more battery life? But the battery life is about five hours thus far (it’s still new and I’m told battery life should improve after several charge cycles.

And the laptop has an adjustable night filter that takes the bright edge off the cold-temp screen illumination. I used an outboard CD/DVD to load my software and deleted some of the HP/Microsoft-loaded programs.

For those who say this PC doesn’t shut down: if you mean that it doesn’t close Google Chrome, tell Chrome not to run apps in the background after closing Chrome, because the browser will continue to run.

Go to Settings, Advanced, System, and click Off when you see “Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed”. It will solve the Chrome not shutting down issue. If you’re coming from a desktop PC, it will take a few weeks to get used to a laptop keyboard, but it will happen, just stay with it.

This is a nice laptop and really fast. I was familiar with Windows 11 before buying this; I had a Windows 10 machine I upgraded to 11. For the record, my buying a machine with Win 11 as its native OS, my add-on software, like Logitech Setpoint, runs much more efficiently.

Would I buy it again? On sale, At $700,I felt this was a good value compared with similar laptops with less RAM, smaller SSD, and i3 or i5 processors.

The screen has lighting inconsistencies on the edges. The bottom casing wants to ‘bend in’–the material is not quite strong enough to avoid capitulating to the weight of the device. You will notice this when picking up and holding the device.

I suggest getting a dark colored laptop (mine is fog blue–you will want to pick something you will enjoy looking at for a few years, so the extra ten bucks shouldn’t be a deal-breaker here) to ensure the keys have better contrast–so you can actually see them! I have trouble seeing the keys on silver HP laptops I’ve used in the past.

The backlit keyboard helps you see the keys better (when the lights are on) with the fog blue color (and obviously when the lighting is dim). In terms of delivery, supply chain issues were horrendous! It seems that I was one of the lucky ones, too, because my order arrived Christmas Eve (even though I got it for a December birthday–it was purchased on Black Friday).

The original arrival date was December 14th. As far as the computer itself goes, the stuff ‘under the hood’ seems very performant. HP cheated out on the external materials to keep the price down and get us a relatively inexpensive upper-mid tier laptop.

All things considered, a 16Gb ram, eight-core cpu machine for $735 (includes tax) was a pretty good deal, especially if you plan on using external accessories most of the time. The battery is nothing to write home about, but it’s good enough for most people.

The fan is quiet, which is nice! The heaviest workload I use this for is coding, and it does a good job–you can reserve a few cores to run things in parallel without compromising your ability to use the computer during execution.

I do not play games, so I do not have any input on that end.

HP have three different levels of laptop, the high end Spectre, the mid level Envy and the entry level Pavilion. Its surprising, then, that theyve chosen to use the rather fetching style from the recent 13 Envy models for their latest Pavilion and some of the great quality features alongside it.

As Stationery Packs lump all their reviews together, Ill make it clear that this is a review of the Pavilion 13an0006na with an i58265U and 8GB RAM. BuildFrom the moment you open the case its clear this is a quality laptop.

The mix of metal and plastic in the case looks great in silver both outside and inside the case. The keyboard looks smart with slightly raised keys that feel comfortable to use and dont make too much noise to type on.

They are background lit so easy to see in a darkened environment. The trackpad is a little small, not surprising for a 13 laptop. It works well, though isnt the best one Ive used. ScreenThe screen has fairly thin bezels around the sides and top with a larger one at the bottom.

Its actually a very nice screen for the price with good viewing angles and great colours and brightness. I was very impressed with watching Netflix on this and playing games. Sound comes from the speaker grill behind the keyboard and sounds good for a laptop of this size.

Its not going to fill a room but you dont expect that in any laptop but it does sound clear. Ports2 USB 3 ports are included alongside a newer USB C port, which can actually be used to charge the laptop in place of the dedicated charger if you have a USB C plug with enough output.

An HDMI port meant I could easily plug this in to a monitor at my desk if needed. Its nice that HP have kept the fingerprint scanner from the Envy for easy Windows Hello login without needing to type a password and its fairly good at recognising your finger once you got used to the placement on the side of the case.

PowerInside the laptop youll find the latest 8th generation intel i5, a four core powerful CPU that can handle plenty of tasks. Its fast but also efficient, meaning that my battery has lasted 910 hours on average.

There is no dedicated graphics card in this model but its actually surprising that the 620 integrated graphics on this chip can cope with a fair few games on low settings. Even titles like Skyrim and Borderlands 2 work smoothly on the laptop and my daughter can easily play Roblox and minecraft from the windows store.

Startup is fast with the included 256gb SSD drive, though space is limited once you start adding software. It does have the SD card slot to use for more storage, though. From initial setup, Windows takes you through everything needed to start your PC and then HP adds a layer of optional software on top, setup was really easy.

Some apps, like Netflix and the Office suite were installed already and there were options for more. These can also be easily uninstalled from the Apps section of Windows settings if not required. summaryThe HP 13an0006 is a great little 13 laptop that is easy and light to carry around but provides a lovely clear, bright display and plenty of power from the intel chip under the hood.

Its ideal for those who dont want a big laptop using up lots of space but still want to do all the things a full sized pc can do.

This PC replaces an elderly netbook for this traveling photographer on a 100+ night cruise. It is far faster and should enable faster transfers to portable hard drive storage. The lack of an full sized SD card reader is a bit of a miss, but solved with the purchase of a powered USB hub that integrates a SD card reader.

I use two 5TB portable hard drives for duplicate photo backup each night, the powered hub removes the power load of the hard drives from the PC power supply. The small SSD drive means a large micro SD card is used for photo editing software to free up the SSD space.

The screen is adequate for photo reviewing and occasional editing in a dark cruise cabin.

The Flex 3i Chromebook has everything I was looking for. The only complaint is the sound. I have tried adjusting the settings and turning the volume to the top setting and it is still very low. I use a Chromebook to listen to podcasts, music, books on tape while working in the kitchen, home office and craft room.

Sound levels in these areas are not loud. (No other appliances, devices, etc. are on at the time. ) I will have to purchase a speaker to connect to and use with the Chromebook so I can hear it while working.

My last Chromebook (ASUS) I used with no problem with the sound. Other than the sound being so low, I am happy with the Chromebook.

11 inches might not be for everyone but I like it. It’s processor is still fast even after you turn off S Mode. The ram is 4 GB which isn’t much but is good enough for most games and apps on low settings.

It’s also not upgradable. Always get 32-Bit apps if there is an option. I don’t know if the motherboard supports 8 GB ram but if it can I think it should be. Or a slot for more ram. The speakers are great it’s super clear.

When I got this it came with 1 year Microsoft 360 subscription it didn’t say it would come with it but it was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome. It might’ve been because I got it on Victoria day but I don’t know.

The screen is bright and it’s 4k maybe but I think it’s 1080p. It’s 4k through HDMI. It’s ports are just what you need. HDMI, two USB 3. 1, MicroSD and headphone jack. Smart charging (or rapid charge) is amazing.

I don’t know how it works but it’s great. Wifi and bluetooth connect seamlessly. The hinge is strong and feels good to flip into tablet. The best part is there is no fan. I have no idea how a fanless laptop works but I could be playing a game and there would be no fan noise.

Battery is good and lasts a long.

I’ve been using the Lenovo ideapad Flex 5 for around 6 months. I use it for business, usually running 3-4 different software programs, often in PowerPoint working with images. Compared to my 4-year old Dell XPS, I thought I’d have a much better experience with the Lenovo.

I liked my Dell a lot, but the trackpad became very difficult to use (do they wear out?). On the Dell, it was very difficult to see the arrow on the screen as I tried to move it around, and I often resorted to just touching the touch screen to click buttons or place my cursor where I wanted it.

The Lenovo is better on that score. But it has another nit that I absolutely hate. The clickable are on the trackpad is tiny. You have to click in just the right spot on the very lower left corner to get it to register as a “click.

” If you click and it doesn’t take, which is often, then the editing drop down appears in the middle of the screen, and you have to click out of that, usually by touch, to continue typing. This trackpad situation is almost bad enough to get rid of this laptop and get something else.

I am a pretty fast typist, and it seems when I type quickly, the sticky key window pops up and I can’t proceed until I close the window. Maybe there’s a way to disable this, but doesn’t seem it should do that in the first place.

Also really annoying. As I said, I use PowerPoint a lot. I don’t know if it’s the laptop or what, but working in images is slower than I’d like, and even when using a wireless mouse the response between mouse and laptop is slow.

Maybe a hardware/software issue causing the response delay, but I would think a relatively powerful little PC laptop should be able to handle a wireless mouse (with new battery) without a lag. I do really like the numbers n the keyboard and the keyboard features.

Very intuitive.

I dread buying a replacement laptop, the software and files to transfer etc; but (I learned to use an external harddrive to simplify transferring files & folders) just had to replace my 2014 Toshiba laptop.

Lenovo brand was recommended by relative, so Lenovo seemed like my best option. I require the numeric keypad on the keyboard, the ideapad i5 came with this feature! I need a compact laptop – in the 15-16 inch range and the ideapad i5 was spot on at 15 inch! Security of 64 bit Windows also needed – ideapad i5 came with Windows 11 Home 64! Unfortunately Lenovo has some arrangement with McAfee and pre-installed that on laptop WHICH I HAD TO REMOVE right away so that I could install my TREND MICROS Security Program.

McAfee is a real PITA to get fully removed! Ideapad i5 display is nice and I was able to increase brightness to a satisfactory level. However, when running on battery the display gets dim and unable to increase brightness.

Guess it is fine so long as I have it plugged in when using it. I like the fingerprint id option – it takes a few minutes to set up and I am liking it. I like the shutter over camera lens – no more need for duct tape to cover it.

I rarely use a camera on my laptop. Storage on the ideapad i5 is fine for me, I keep very little on the computer and really prefer using my external harddrive. Price of the ideapad i5 was reasonable.

It is a stylish machine. But Lenovo sure does up the price a lot with optional extended warranties, on site repairs, damage insurance, battery replacement, etc Yes I paid the price for these add-ons.

This increased the price a lot, but never having had a Lenovo brand before I am not sure what to expect for it and needed to add the extra protection. Once I saw that the only way the display could be bright enough for me to use was to have it connected to a power source, I regret getting the battery replacement option since I will never run this on battery power.

I use my usb wireless mouse instead of the touch pad – it works fine. I do wish there were more usb ports though. I am using 1 for mouse and 1 for external harddrive. Touchscreen is great. I have touchscreen on old laptop and on desktop, I like this feature a lot, and if I use someone elses laptop they ask me why I am tapping their screen(they dont have touchscreen).

Although the ideapad i5 ended up costing a lot because of the add-on items, I am pleased with the machine.
