20 Best Touchscreen Laptop For Drawing (2023 Updated)

Upgrading from my Surface Book 2 (15 inch), I was excited to have another powerful Surface laptop but this wound up being what I know think of as a mistake of a purchase due to a plethora of issues that plagued this machine for me.

While the performance of this laptop was alright I honestly think that it could have been better. The biggest strength of the laptop studio line replacing the book line is ditching ultrabook processors for laptop ones.

This means that you get better performance while now sacrificing battery life. On the subject matter of batter life, it was extremely unpredictable for this laptop. You definitely never could do anything really intensive on it while unplugged even with it throttling processor speeds to help with power draw while not charging.

While doing things like web browsing (mainly with the Edge but had similar experiences with Chrome and Firefox) I would have days not making it to six hours of battery usage and other days surpassing twelve.

If you need consistent battery life, this laptop is not the one for you. The build quality of the unit I have was as questionable as the selection of ports they gave you get with this laptop (missing an SD card slot, and HDMI.

The HDMI sucks since universities are requiring that port and lugging around a dongle means you may forget it for a presentation). There was constant creaking from the body of the laptop and some areas had significant flex to it.

The metal scratches without trying, and the hinge for tilting the display squeaked pretty loud right out of the box which is concerning for a laptop at its price point. Another concerning thing was the touch pad moving the cursor when trying to clicking on things with the mouse, and the odd issue of the Windows 11 start menu spastically triggering itself to open for no apparent reason (operating system reinstalls did not help).

Leaving things off on the positives of this laptop, the display is phenomenal and while not the best it is incredibly vibrant and smooth. The optional Surface Slim Pen 2 accessory you can buy of the laptop is leagues more accurate than the outgoing Surface Pen 2 my Surface Book 2 used.

There is now essentially no jitter with drawing straight lines with the current pen which makes it match the competition such as the Apple Pencil. While the Intel Processor of this laptop gets pretty hot, I do think that the laptop does a good job at making it so the heat in not concentrated in places that hit your hands as much.

Thermals is a strong point of this laptop, While I really wanted to love this laptop the glaring flaws of this machine did not allow me to do that. Hopefully I just got a lemon but seeing some of these issues getting discussed online communities and forums was something I should have looked into before purchasing this machine.

Overall this product is decent. I understand Microsoft is going for a 2-1 Windows device how ever this product is not it. Honestly the product has a better performance and great visibility with its. (Battery life) good Surprisingly, the smaller battery on the Studio delivers somewhat longer battery life than the 15″ Book.

This might be coming from: lower screen resolution, Windows 11 optimization, more efficient components due to the non-detachable design. The (keyboard ) con The keyboard looks better on the Book for its uniform color with the base, and the Book’s keyboard is one of the few that doesn’t sink into a well due to the unique hinge design.

The key travel is also slightly longer on the Book and the keys are a bit softer and less tactile. The keyboard on Laptop Studio on the other hand, looks like a MacBook copy. But as every Surface Book user would know, the backlit would make the Book’s keyboard unreadable in lit environment, and this is a non-issue on the Studio.

Also the keys are more tactile on the Studio, which I personally prefer. (Pen) con Another clear win for the Studio. The lines are noticeably smoother thanks to the higher refresh rate and updated digitizer hardware.

The pen storage location is also better on the Studio so that you never need to worry about the pen accidentally detaching from the laptop. The only minor drawback is that you now have to lift the front of the laptop to retrieve the pen.

Personally I like the Microsoft Surface Book where the pain is attached on the side by magnets instead of underneath the device. The practicality of the Microsoft Surface studio is that it’s unrealistic.

For example with my Microsoft Surface Book 2 I can detach and carry around with me while looking at the Attached screen. However, for the Microsoft Surface Studio it is extremely heavy. To me it feels like Microsoft has just basically copied the Microsoft Studio 2 desktop computer and just converted it to a laptop.

The only benefit or only person I would recommend this is if there were a 3D artist or an architect. I don’t understand the chief engineer of Microsoft Amitabh Mathrawala was thinking just copy and pasting One Design to a laptop I personally enjoyed the Microsoft Surface Book 1,2,3 because it gives me the option of a laptop and a tablet.

However I wish at the Microsoft would have continued making a Surface Book 4 just with a powerful quad core processor and Nvidia GPU with a longer lasting battery.

Overall: Pretty solid laptop. This is my daily driver for school work and it has almost replaced taking notes on paper after a brief adjustment period. The Pen: The pen that comes with this laptop might be the only annoying part.

I started having issues with its accuracy on and off within the first few months. The pen broke completely within the first year. If the pen isn’t a big factor, then this is a fine laptop, but the 2-in-1 functionality may be an unnecessary feature.

The Screen: Can’t recommend paying for 4k for most people though. The screen is so small that most people won’t be able to notice any real difference between a 1080p image and 4k. If you hook up the device to a larger 4k display at home or work regularly, then the added cost of a 4k screen might be more justified.

That being said, a 15. 6″ screen is my personal preference because anything smaller gets too cramped for me. So if you go smaller, then a 4k resolution gets more and more pointless in my view. Trackpad/Keyboard: Pretty satisfactory.

Nothing all that good or bad to make note of. Position of the trackpad was a little strange in my opinion, but it’s not any real issue. Sound/Webcam: Don’t plan on this being a great set of speakers at parties.

It’s perfectly fine if you’re just watching videos in bed or listening to music while doing chores, but it isn’t a dedicated sound system, so temper your expectations. I have issues getting the laptop to properly work with my headphones and galaxy buds.

I can hear audio through apps like Zoom just fine, but the laptop does not receive input properly from headphones (via wired or bluetooth; and both have been tested with other devices successfully). The camera switch is a cool feature though.

Camera quality is also fine. Nothing particularly special. Build Quality and I/O: Pretty pleased with the physical build so far. Aesthetically, it is a very pretty laptop, and the hinges feel pretty good.

It doesn’t open up fully without holding the base down, but it transitions smoothly into tablet mode. The ports are a big factor for me personally. With HDMI, 1 USB-A port, 2 USB-C ports (with one for power delivery), and a headphone jack, I have enough flexibility to connect just about any device.

There is no ethernet port or SD card slot though, so if those are important to you, you will need a dedicated dongle (and at that point the ports on the actual laptop are unnecessary, so that might justify shopping for other options).

In summary, I’m pretty pleased overall. It’s my personal, school, and work laptop. I do a lot of note taking, writing, and some coding from time to time (nothing fancy or all that demanding except some MATLAB work).

If you’re searching for something with lots of power from a GPU, this isn’t for you. But if you’re searching for a higher-end PC for everyday use, then this will fulfill most of your needs.

BUYER BEWARE, AVOID THE INTEL ARC GRAPHICS: I ordered a brand-new CTO HP Spectre 16 from HP. com back in June with the Intel i7-1260P CPU/Intel ARC A370M GPU, 32GB RAM, 2TB 4×4 SSD, AMOLED display, and the Intel AX411 Wi-Fi card – on paper, a truly high performing and well equipped computer that was expensive.

I waited for a month and a half before I finally received the product in the mail and in the interim, I saw various videos and forum posts about how **terrible** the Intel ARC GPU lineup was. I contemplated cancelling my order; however, I decided to give the computer the benefit of the doubt and experience it hands-on before and see if Intel would fix the problems before doing that.

Initially, the Intel ARC A370M GPU showed itself to be very buggy, I updated the GPU with drivers from Intel’s page (as HP does not have a support page yet for this product (. go figure. )) and it seemed to fix the GPU and allow basic usability.

However, this changed when I attempted to use basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Lightroom, Photoshop, or even do some light gaming. The programs would either: (1) not load at all and crash; (2) be pixelated/have artifacts that rendered them unplayable (Sims 4 and SWTOR would not play on the ARC A370M at all); or (3) blue screen the entire system.

I cannot believe that HP (and other manufactures that use this GPU, for that matter) would allow something this terrible to be sold to customers in what seems like a beta test run. For the $$$$, you’d expect to not feel like a guinea pig with a terrible buggy product that cannot even run basic day-to-day programs or do light gaming.

On top of that, Intel is rumored to be pulling the plug on the ARC graphic series altogether, which does not inspire confidence in the long run. My suggestions to you is to: (a) purchase the Iris Xe versions of this laptop as that graphics card is acceptable for daily usage; or, (b) to purchase a different laptop and avoid the ARC A370M and all other variants of the Intel ARC lineup altogether as they are terrible first-generation products.

15 days into this, I am very disappointed in this computer and I have spoken to HP to obtain a return authorization for the product. You’ve been warned.

I own the 2020 15. 6 inch HP Spectre x360 and am a big fan of the Spectre line of laptops. Decided to try out the new 16-inch non-OLED HP Spectre x360 with integrated graphs and fell in LOVE with it (will give my 2020 Spectre to a family member).

I was, however, curious if the 16-inch OLED HP Spectre x360 with discrete graphs might be a worthwhile upgrade. Newsflash, it ain’t. Everything between the two laptops is the same except for the screen resolution, GPU, and amount of internal storage.

Sadly, there is no major difference between the two screens (HPs non-OLED screens are that good). If anything colors on the OLED model appear a bit oversaturated. I do not game, do not edit videos, 3D model, etc.

so the more powerful GPU is just an unnecessary expense, rather than an upgrade. Since both laptops have a microSD card slot, more internal storage is also an expense for me. I purchased this laptop for about $50 less than the 16-inch non-OLED model (open-box discount and Best Buy gift cards).

Even at around the same price of the 16-inch non-OLED model, I still won’t recommend this laptop because of the inferior battery life associated with OLED screen. Results of standardized battery tests (continuous video loop at 150 nits screen brightness or 38%) conducted by internet reviewers reveal a battery life of only 6 to 8 hours.

Conversely, the battery life of my 16-inch non-OLED Spectre is outstanding. I get 14 hours of continuous YouTube (screen brightness at 38%, battery saver and wifi on, bluetooth off). Even more impressive is that I get 8.

5 hours with screen brightness at 100%, wifi on, bluetooth off, battery saver off, and power mode on best performance. So even at full power (100% screen brightness, power mode on best performance), the 16-inch non-OLED Spectre’s battery lasts longer than the 16-inch OLED Spectre’s battery.

Had this same model back in 2017. Had issues like the power cord getting hot, and not charging. Needed larger capacity too, so I decided to replace the old one (that still works fine) since my self employment is heavily computer dependent.

Such a good decision! I really really love the graphics. The screen is so much clearer and the colors vivid. The speed is much better than my other one, and with a 1TB drive, I should be fine for awhile.

The keyboard lighting is odd though in that it isn’t ‘on’ but ‘comes on’ when you start to type. I am sure you can change that somewhere, but I haven’t had time to figure it out. At least I always get lighted keys in the dark as long as that first keystroke doesn’t need to be accurate.

The one thing I don’t like, is some features in Windows 11. I didn’t intend to change to it, pretty much ever! But alas it came with it, so I figured I would TRY to adjust. The big issue is that all of the tasks are on the bottom of the screen and there’s NO WAY to change that absent some registry tinkering I am not willing to do.

So I have 3 other computers which I have had tasks on the top for decades and I do feel this may end up making me not love this as much as I would otherwise. On a positive note, the power button on this computer is on the top of the machine right on the keyboard to the upper right, which makes it easier to both see and access to turn on–the old one was on the side and you would have to feel for it (and it wasn’t very obvious) along with the volume buttons etc which always made it slow to get going.

A big negative for this machine and the prior one, was not enough USB ports. There’s only the 1 on the left. There are 2 “C” ports though, so I do use a “C” port hub which gets me a couple of more to hook up my mouse and my numeric key pad but having those onboard would have been better so don’t have this hub thing hanging off and that I have to carry around a lot.

It does come with a pen, which I THINK I will use a bit, so you do’nt have to buy a separate one. It’s very light just like the other and the dark case makes it a little less evident when it inevitably gets dinged or scratched.

So far in a month or so that I have had it, I am quite pleased.

Great laptop, but it’s NOT all metal. I have this same exact laptop, in the same exact configuration, and there’s not a speck of metal anywhere in the housing. It’s a nice, silvery plastic, but they should not be allowed to say it’s metal.

That was one of the reasons I bought it, and was a bit disappointed to find out it wasn’t metal, but I like everything else about it so much, I decided to keep it. The battery lasts a really long time.

I easily get 8 hours of surfing and streaming, and it’s not running on empty when I plug it in. It’s solid state, and has no heat at all. The sound is surprisingly good for a laptop. It has Wacom capability for artistic endeavors, and that was a big plus for me.

I haven’t actually used that function much, but I’m starting to learn, and it’s amazing what it’s capable of. I just don’t like windows 10 much, and the edge browser even less, but that’s just personal preference.

I’m hoping windows 11 will be better. It has a backlit keyboard, with only one light setting, but it’s adequate. The fingerprint reader works about half the time, and then makes me enter my pin, but I can live with it.

From my understanding, these types of fingerprint readers have a history of doing that. It’s still a lot of laptop for the money, and I’m happy I got it.

Overall I am generally very happy with this product. – The processing speed is very good for the $ spent, the computer boots up very quickly and I often play games, watch videos/movies online and the computer has been able to handle that perfectly.

– The touchscreen is very good, I am very happy with that. – The battery life is not terrible, but I have not been able to operate the computer for anywhere close to the 9 hours even when only surfing the internet & not playing games or watching movies.

The battery seems to drain when I close the computer so I have just resorted to powering down the laptop instead of putting it to sleep. – As this was a refurninshed laptop, I was very happy with the condition with only one exception.

There are no scratches, dents or any other blemishs when looking at the computer (looks brand new). However the mouse pad does not function perfectly. This is only a minor annoyance and the other benefits outweigh this one defect.

The product came in a brown box inside a protective sleeve and that’s pretty much it. Out of the box, there were some scuff marks and smudges on the laptop, but after I wiped it, it was in clean condition.

I did notice that the inputs ports (USB, HDMI) did have the paint on the frame chipped. I am guessing this was from inserting and removing these connections multiple times and it got scratched off. Since it is a refurbished laptop, I suppose this can’t be helped.

Other than that, the laptop seems to be in excellent condition. I did have some issues with the windows update when booting up. The finger print reader stopped working. I tried to look for a solution but nothing was working so I ended up re-installing windows.

After a few days, everything seems to be working fine. The touch screen works well and the laptop has been smooth playing low spec games and streaming videos. So far I am happy with my purchase.

I wanted a 2-in-1 device for college but I’ve now had the surface pro 7 for about 2 months and often have regrets buying it. It’s had issues ever since I first got it but I thought maybe it just needs to start up or update for a bit but the problems haven’t gone away.

Issues: – keyboard “turns off” after going like 1 min or even less without using it and it takes a few seconds before it turns on for some reason – sometimes when I still have the keyboard attacked but press on the screen to enter a website, the touch keyboard pops up even if I’m not typing and will pop up every time I press on the screen, even if it’s just to open a course.

– needs updates and to restarted OFTEN. One time I was just sitting 5 mins before I had a zoom meeting and it decided to restart and update by itself without giving me a warning. Thankfully it’s usually pretty fast about that but still does it too often for my liking.

– also lags fairly often. sometimes the whiteboard app will lag a lot and when I try erasing things turns out they weren’t erased. It also lags sometimes when I try scrolling, whether it’s with the attachable keyboard or the touch screen.

– taskbar is also an issue. it changes around the apps/settings on the task bar and sometimes the time disappears altogether and the arrow showing more options won’t open if I click it. And the apps that I have pinned on my taskbar will sometimes not all show at once (even though it’s not a lot) and it will have me scroll for them.

– when I’m watching movies in fullscreen, sometimes when I press on the screen the start menu will open for no reason and it’ll block the movie and it takes multiple presses for it to go away and go back to the movie.

– also have issues when I use my airpods with it. The volume worked fine at first but after a bit whenever I had my airpods connected I wouldn’t be able to raise or lower the volume at all from the keyboard, the tablet buttons, or even the menu at all.

Only thing that fixed it would be me completely forgetting the airpods and then connecting again. But then it would go back to not working again in a few days. – Usually loses battery pretty quickly too – Glitches sometimes Pros: – pretty good at saving downloads/documents Overall, due to my personal experiences, I would not recommend.

But I do know it works completely fine for others. I will try to take it in to be fixed but considering the fact that it’s new, it’s already a con that all of these issues occurred to soon. I’m just hoping mine was one of few and that this isn’t the norm for surface pros.

I think the Microsoft Surface series has gotten a lot of criticism over the years. Microsoft didn’t know how to launch this series. But now, they’re getting close to cornering both the Windows tablet and laptop markets.

Below are a few things you need to know before buying this. It should be obvious but consumer electronics, especially laptops, are going fast. If you’re considering buying this (I hate to say this) but I’d suggest buying it now rather than saving up your money.

It’s your money but at the same time, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is completely gone in a couple of months. I also wouldn’t suggest buying through aftermarket, scalper prices. When you buy this you’re only getting the screen with a charging brick.

That’s it. No keyboard, no pen, no SD card, nothing else. This is one of many criticisms the Surface series launched with years ago. Unfortunately, Microsoft isn’t lowering their prices and including what I would consider necessary accessories you’re forced to spend extra money on.

In saying that, buy the Surface keyboard, an SD card to expand the storage, and, if you think you need it, the surface pen. I would say, get the keyboard first and wait on the other items. SD Card Storage thankfully is inexpensive these days so that shouldn’t be an issue.

I’d also get an adapter of some kind to expand the I/O. You can find third-party I/O expansion adapters, specifically for this device, that will give you wired ethernet, HDMI out, extra SD card slots, and extra USB-C and USB-A slots.

I haven’t stress tested the battery but a large, external battery probably wouldn’t hurt either. Overall, I wanted a laptop/tablet combo that could handle all the Microsoft-based software I’m throwing at it – below $1,000.

It has full Windows 10 and, besides high-ending gaming, basically does what all my other Windows PCs do. Sure, I’m excited for more powerful, lighter, and thinner future versions; but Microsoft should really make these cheaper and include the keyboard and pen.

I wanted to love this. I had heard awesome things about it when I was looking into tablets and things for drawing. As far as the way it ran when it was working and not heating up, it wasn’t terrible.

I purchased the Surface pen with it and the stability and smoothness of the pen was fantastic. It functioned with the drawing programs. But my largest concern was that it heated up WAY past where it should have and often.

The first time was when I was setting it up. It heated up so bad when trying to simply set it up that it froze completely and tried to auto turn off, but couldn’t seem to unfreeze itself and I had to put a fan on it for fear of it not turning back on if it got any hotter.

Despite the first bad impression, After I managed to cool it down and get it set up, I tried it out to see how it would do over the return period. It seemed like it couldn’t handle things well, especially when you get towards a lower battery.

Not only did it continue to heat up, the screen got very flickery when the battery was lower. When charging, it heats up a lot as well and you definitely can’t use it while it’s charging. Overall, had high hopes and they were dashed really quickly.

After giving it a chance, it wasn’t worth worrying constantly about overheating, so I returned it. I plan on getting an ipad pro instead because of some of my artist friend’s recommendations and good experiences.

My previous LENOVO is ten years old, still works, but became noticeably slow for modern feature rich browsing. Naturally, I opted for another LENOVO, as it is also my working laptop brand for over a decade.

The model is great option for a proper home laptop that you can take on a trip as well. Pros: – Sleek design, – light, – good quality touch screen, – flip option to make it into a tablet, – – convent keyboard, – – sufficient storage space for a home user, – decent sound.

Cons: – cannot think of any, well, maybe one which is just a matter of preference. Higher end LENOVO laptops are now using USB-C type power supply for charging which make it universal for most modern devices.

This model comes with the proprietary old-fashioned charger (round connector). Again, a matter of convenience.

Pros: -Laptop is sleek but not too thin. -Touchscreen -Webcam is not placed awkwardly like my old laptop (ya know for Zoom meetings) -Really nice specs (i5 11th gen with 500 GB and 8 RAM). -Back lit keyboard Cons: -The advertised blue color is much brighter than the actual thing.

I bought the blue because the bright color looked so nice. Turns out its relly dark. – The front of the laptop gets smudged by fingerprints. Need to wipe it every now and then to look clean. Verdict: Awesome laptop.

Highly recommend but maybe different color if dark blue is not to your liking. What sold me was the specs. Other laptops have really weak specs. Couldnt find any other laptop with similar specs within my budget.

Bought one of these puppies for $410(And it has since gone down!). It came with 4 GB of RAM and a 128GB 2-lane SSD. I upgraded it to 16 GB of RAM(~$50) and to a 512GB 4-lane nVME Drive(~$60), and installed Manjaro Linux on it.

Opening it to do the upgrades is slightly tricky requiring a pry tool to undo the snaps, but following instructions online should serve you well. It runs much faster with the upgraded SSD. The one it ships with is a no-name brand and seemed to run hot, and I would highly recommend to anyone who can to upgrade the SSD to a better quality 4-lane SSD.

I can confirm using the “lspci -vv” command that this laptop can use all 4 lanes, and it does in Windows and Linux. But especially after upgrades, it runs great and handles any task I throw at it, for possibly the lowest price I can think of.

The build quality of the device is excellent, and while the keyboard feel is a bit cheap, as is the trackpad feel, they both work great. The feel of the rest of the device is great. The touchscreen worked well, both in Windows and Linux.

I get about 7 hours of real battery battery life in linux, which is the most of any laptop I have tried. It is actually the most responsive latop I own for web browsing now as configured, and I have one with a Core i7 and GTX1070(mobile), probably due to the different software.

So it just shows that in 2020 a little bit of power efficient processor goes a long way. Also, the power brick for this thing is a great size and quite portable. The only downside is the one this ships with does not have retractable plug prongs, although some in that style are available for this model.

I’m not the kind of person who can get along well with a device that only does one thing well. Thankfully, this device does lots of things, really well – truly the overachiever of computers. First of all, it feels overall well-made.

The keyboard is comfortable, and to use it in tablet mode, the screen rotates smoothly and securely. The screen feels satisfying and sturdy to tap and swipe on, and I can even use it with my rubber-tip stylus.

Also, the screen is quite large and very high-definition, so it’s amazing to watch movies, play games, or even read on. And, it does all those things very quickly and without lag thanks to the great Ryzen processor.

But it’s also great that this device isn’t just awesome for entertainment and playtime; it’s great for getting work done too, which is a must for me since I work from home. There’s a good amount of USB connections, both USB-C and standard USB so you don’t have to use hubs and adapters so much.

The webcam is really impressive quality – no more fiddling with the lighting in my room or playing with settings just to make myself somewhat presentable for a video meeting. The sound of the built-in speakers is genuinely awesome, too – it goes pretty loud and has amazing overall sound quality, which I’m not used to experiencing on any laptop or tablet I ever previously owned.

I love being able to blast my tunes or feel immersed in a video game without having to connect external speakers. On top of it all, the battery life is fantastic. Even if I’m doing something more intensive like gaming, it lasts for many hours straight.

I didn’t expect one device to be able to do so many things so well, but like I said, it’s definitely an overachiever. Whether you want to work hard or play hard (or, like myself, do a lot of both every day), this 2-in-1 has it all covered for sure.

There is a real disappointment regarding the purchase. The problem comes from the touchpad and fingerprint reader of the laptop I bought (yoga 9i, 14 inch). I really would like to know why the GENIUS designer design the things in this way: the touchpad and fingerprint reader are totally flat.

I mean there is no notch (height difference) for your finger to distinguish the periphery of the touchpad and fingerprint reader. This really gives a really greasy rather than a comfortable and neat feeling for those people who really use the touchpad (I think it is designed for convenience rather than as a decoration).

When you are typing and watching the screen, it is really hard for your finger to practice the accurate left and right clicks on the touchpad, especially for some complex operations such as copying, pasting and moving an object.

And the sticker to locate the fingerprint reader should not be removed since then it becomes very hard for your finger to touch the reader accurately, and the speed and accuracy of fingerprint recognition are thus bad.

For a user like me who is heavily relying on the touchpad, this really hinders my efficiency and comfort substantially. This is the first time I see this design. I am now getting used to this but I think the traditional design of touchpad and fingerprint designers with notches are REASONABLE and there is really no reason to change things in this way, which in my opinion is ANTI-ERGONOMICS.

Any feedback and comments are welcomed and I am curious about the inspiration of this design and whether I am the only one who thinks the operation experience is not good. I will continuously support Lenovo since it has provided me with a lot of wonderful devices over the years, while I really would like to help improve the design of this Yoga 9i product by participating in the discussion of the reasons behind the design of touchpad and fingerprint reader, if possible.

I have been stalling on buying a new laptop for a few months because I couldn’t find the right machine with the right features at the right price. Then I got an email from Lenovo with a link to a sale and that all changed.

Fast Processer – check, USB-C charging – check, 2-n-1 – check, 1080p with a brilliant touch screen – check, sleek design – check, aluminum case – check, in-stock and ready to ship – check! So I pulled the trigger and it was delivered several days ahead of schedule in less than a week.

As with any new tech toy, it takes a little time to get used to the features. The biggest surprise was how well the handwriting recognition works with the included/docked pen. I can scribble in the box and it generally knows what I intend.

This makes using the machine in tablet mode a very user friendly device. Speed is not an issue with the included CPU and 8GB of memory. WiFi6 is a nice addition and since my home network can support the connection speed, backups to local network storage are quick and efficient.

The screen is beautiful. I opted for 1080p vs 4k because at 14″, the pixels are already small enough! The extra money for a 4K would be wasted. The leather cover is a really nice touch. It has a great feel and steps this device up from a toy to something elegant.

Battery life is good and it charges quickly with the included 65W USB-C charger. I may add a single-cabled dock so I can easily use it with my desktop monitor keyboard and mouse. One cable for everything is very convenient.

It’s also very quiet and doesn’t seem to get as hot as other laptops that I have used. The only complaints I have are these: It came pre-loaded with Win10 and the immediate upgrade to Win11 took many hours – seems like it could have shipped with Win11 from the factory.

The camera doesn’t work with Windows Hello. The touchpad and fingerprint reader need a more pronounced edge – they are impossible to see if the ambient light is low. The Pen could be a little bigger in diameter and perhaps have a larger battery.

I’ve had the Yoga 9i for a little over two months now, and it’s an amazing laptop, to say the least. For starters, it’s beautiful. I love the leather cover, speaker design, and fully glass touchpad area.

It feels like it weighs almost nothing when carrying it in my bag and is small enough to use in the car when I’m out and about without turning myself into an origami work of art when trying to type. The battery life is phenomenal, and most of the time, I leave the house without my charging cable.

I’ve yet to get even close to running out of juice when away from home. The video quality for zoom calls is more than passable, and I love that it has a built-in camera cover. Sound quality is top-notch, and I can’t believe that no one else has thought of designing it in the same way.

All that said, it isn’t perfect. The keyboard is comfortable and spacious, but I would like more ‘clickability’ in the keys. Sometimes they feel sort of soft, or maybe I just enjoy hearing that ‘click clack’ sound when I type.

Also, the touchpad is overly sensitive, in my opinion, sometimes resulting in unwanted onscreen actions taking place, and I still haven’t discovered a way to reduce the sensitivity to an acceptable level.

(Like many of us out there, I’ve become a lazy typist over the years, resting my hands on the trackpad area when they should be raised. As a result of the trackpad sensitivity, you’ll have no choice but to type correctly on this laptop.

I’m complaining, but I’m actually typing the way I should now. ) Finally, this laptop doesn’t support Windows Hello and uses a fingerprint reader instead. The fingerprint reader, up to this point, has been hit or miss.

It works about 65% of the time for me so far. Unfortunately, I have to leave my finger on the reader area for long periods (up to 10-15 sec in some cases) for it to work, if it works at all. None of the detractors I’ve mentioned are game breakers, but I think people should know about them before purchasing.

I’d still buy this laptop again in a heartbeat. For a portable laptop, it pretty much hits all areas I wanted to address: Long battery life, minimal footprint, reliability (we’ll see), business-appropriate appearance, lightweight, internally housed pen, and fast.

For business on the go, this is an amazing laptop.

After looking for a replacement for my MacBook, I decided that the Surface would be the best bet. But after taking it home and getting it all set up, the entire Windows experience is pretty much exactly the same as it used to be 10 years ago.

Clunky and unrefined. Fan was pretty much constantly running and laptop was hot to the touch even just watching Netflix or Youtube. THEN there’s the keyboard. It feels fine, but the ENTIRE body flexes when you just rest your finger on a key.

I just couldn’t look past it. There’s no reason to pay this much money and get the build quality of a $60 tablet. I will say the battery life was pretty good and the screen looked nice. Touch input was basically pointless.

People think that they have to have a computer with professional specs. But the average person would never use all that power for as long as they own the device. But I get it, most people want to future proof their investment.

But the way I see it, no matter how much you spend. You’re going to upgrade within 4 to 5 year’s anyway so why not think about what you’re going to be doing with it in the first place. Most apps are optimized for low powered devices anyway so you’ll never need a high end device to start with.

But hey, I can’t tell you how to spend your money. But for me, I only keep a device for about two years anyway because I love new technology. But for the average person this is a great product.

The product is light and extremely to carry. Although the screen quality maybe inferior compared with other laptops, it is hard to find another laptop at this price point (after discount) with touch screen, fingerprint sensor, good build quality and good performance.

The laptop comes with Intel i5-1035G1, product released in two years. But it performs just great for daily work. Of course, if you require heavy workload relying on graphics, the premium model like Surface Laptop 4 or MacBook with M1 chip will be your choices.

Overall, I am satisfied with the laptop.

I bought the Surface Laptop Studio because I needed a solid machine with high specs. I have not been disappointed and it’s everything I needed it to be. I use it multiple monitors, and usually have multiple applications running to view and analyze data along with video conferencing simultaneously.

It’s been running without any issues, so far. The fan is pretty quiet compared to my previous machine which was really struggling and very noisy. I’m very happy with my purchase and since I mainly use windows based applications, I decided to invest in this machine rather than a MacBook.

I previously owned a surface pro 4 and the Surface Laptop Studio is a significant step up for me and an excellent investment thus far. It’s a solid product with performance to match and looks good as well.

A little on the heavy side, but given the other benefits, I’m happy to compromise on that.

I am extremely disappointed with this device, such an expensive device and it crashed on the 4th day from the purchase and then again crashed after 5 days and this time it won’t even boot. I took it to store and they installed new windows on it and it worked.

After 4 hrs of new windows installation it crashed again and kept crashing 2 to 3 times a day , now I returned the device back to Extra and they said will replace it in 10 days, I have nothing in my hand after spending 13k SAR on this device with all my data and work gone with this device.

I like the look and the design of the device. The performance is fantastic. As a designer, I use multiple tools at the same time requiring lots of resources, and the performance is fantastic. I have the Surface Studio docked almost all day as a desktop computer but when I unplug it, the battery life holds for several hours.

I’ve had this computer for 2-4 years, I got it in college to use for drawing, 3d modelling and animation on the go. It is designed absolutely terribly, you can reverse the screen to use it as a drawing tablet with a better GPU, but the cooling system is so inadequate that it thermal throttles super hard.

the slow CPU on the model I got, i7-8650U, sounds good on paper, but with a base clock speed of 1. 9 with a four core processor, it is so slow the majority of newer programs or games can’t run properly, and the above thermal throttling makes this problem even worse.

If you’re doing any power hungry processing the battery dies super fast like 1-2 hours at max. Lately we’ve also have had issues with the top tablet half randomly disconnecting from the bottom, meaning you loose the 2nd battery, all USB ports, and the external GPU, extending to the loss of a external or seperate monitor.

TL;DRGood on paper, terrible execution. slow, and to many problems that makes it hard to game on or do any work. You’re better off getting a actual gaming laptop with an external tablet. Stay away.

It’s a good computer overall. I got one around when they were new. Had problems early on with random blue screening which was solved by reinstalling the OS. I’ve gotten a lot out of it in the 3 years of owning it.

However there are aspects of the device that are worth considering if you’re thinking of buying one. I’ll spit it by good and bad: Good: it’s robust for its specs, and runs most creative software well.

I get a lot of mileage out of zbrush on this machine. It has great screen real-estate. The touch screen and touchpad are highly responsive. Bad: It’s battery life is awful, maybe 2-4 hours tops and don’t even think of opening a game.

The screen removal is just a gimmick since the battery life limitation and the uptake delay of using the screen as a drawing tool. I get random frame rate jumps regularly, like a half second freeze every so often.

I have no idea if this is hardware related but it’s something I eventually got used to.

Absolute worst laptop I have ever owned or have ever used. For the value it is absolutely terrible. The first surface book I received would crash multiple times a day, so thankfully after a very lengthy process Microsoft took it in for service and either sent me a new one.

Low and behold months later the same issue and now the laptop won’t turn on. I’ve had the laptop for barely what is even a year and it is completely bricked. My 6 year old thinkpad is my laptop once again, and funny enough it still works! Will never be buying a Microsoft computer again after this experience.
