20 Best Touch Screen For Car (2023 Updated)

Boss has never let me down. Great sound and great connectivity. Android auto works flawlessly. I haven’t tried the iPhone connection on my other phone yet. The sound is amazing at 85×4 watts. The touchscreen is bright and colorful.

The camera is also great. Wonderful built in EQ.

I have always been looking for a bigger screen for my truck. Came across this unit and the installation was quite smooth. Took me an hour to put in my 2016 Ford. The touch screen itself is really responsive to every commend.

Usually you need to pay >$500 for such quality. But this BOSS unit works like a charm with really budget friendly price.

The unit was installed in a 2006 Ford Econoline even after been told by numerous professional installers that it could not be done. Well, its done. The touch screen works great. The backup camera works great.

The unit was on sale at the time. Good price for a great product.

Installation was pretty smooth- problems seemed to stem from the poorly-thought-out Metra dash kit, not the radio. The radio’s touchscreen works well, and tbe interface is smooth and not laggy. I’ve been using the SD slot and Bluetooth the most for music- no complaints for those.

I ordered a backup camera separate from this radio (don’t cover the state name on your plate!), And hooking it up to this went smoothly. I didn’t have wiring color/position mismatch issues like some other reviewers.

SWC works well. I had to dig up my car’s service manual/electrical schematics to find which wire to splice, since for the Mitsubishi Galant, the relevant wire on a different harness (one wire from the car required grounding to complete the SWC circuit) Android Auto also performs as intended, and due to dash kit fitting issues with competing full-Android radios, is one of the biggest reasons I picked this radio.

To get Android Auto working, you have to turn on developer options as instructed, select file transfer/android auto mode, then plug in for it to work. After that, the phone must be unlocked when plugging in, and can be locked again after it finishes its handshake process.

Sometimes you have to unplug and replug if it doesn’t sync up within about 10 seconds. Be aware that Android Auto is different from screen mirroring, both of which this radio CAN do. Sound quality is definitely not as accurate and balanced as my stock (base) stereo.

However, I got it to an acceptable state via the EQ. Tip: turn on the “”LOUD”” setting in the EQ. This radio sounds downright anemic with the setting off. This is where Corehan comes in- I contacted them because the EQ settings were not being saved when turning off the car and turning it back on.

The screen showed my settings- but the sound definitely wasn’t matching on startup. Corehan was responsive, usually responding in a day or so. After several emails back and forth, I was sent an updated firmware that fixed the issue.

Overall, this brought my aging car’s features up-to-date, and it wasn’t crazy expensive to do so!.

Installed this in my 2012 Kia Soul last week. Wiring was pretty straightforward using a metra wiring harness to adapt to my oem wiring. Also ordered the Metra dash kit to install, and ended up having to modify the brackets (drilling through plastic brackets) as the new head unit is not deep enough to reach the mounting holes.

The included “”universal”” brackets with the radio would not work as they are bent out too wide and would require being cut with tin snips or an angle grinder. SWC controls worked for me without need for a separate SWC controller It works fine during the basic head unit functions, but only volume up/down work in carplay or android auto mode.

You cannot skip tracks with SWC. Not sure if this is a bug in the unit or with AA. Programming the SWC from the head unit is done in the settings. Make sure you swipe on the bottom bar of the settings page to find the SWC programming button.

Volume is good. EQ settings are pretty limited (bass, treble, loud on/off) and the included eq presets are terrible. I have noticed that the treble setting seems to reset itself whenever the car is turned off.

Take a few seconds to reapply the setting, but it is a bit of a pain. Screen looks nice. There is a brightness setting that you can adjust, and the day/night options are both adjustable. Hidden menu (password is 1234) contains changeable boot logos but only had 7 car manufacturers to choose from and Kia wasn’t one of them.

Attempted to find a way to load a logo in via usb thumb drive but doesn’t seem to be a way to transfer the image to the internal storage. Android Auto runs just fine over the usb connection, but the usb connection is not fast-charging.

I have a new Galaxy S21 Ultra and it definitely is slow to charge the phone. Google Assistant works perfectly from the built-in mic. Girlfriend said that she could hear my voice clearly during a Bluetooth call.

No issues there. Overall, I’m very happy with the unit. A few little bugs here and there but for less than $100, it’s great to have android auto built into my dash now and not have to mount my phone to my dash.

Head unit was easI just purchased a 2000 Subaru Legacy GT and it still had the factory stereo in there. Music channels weren’t as clear as I wanted and their was no way to Bluetooth/USB. After searching the internet for a decent Double Din stereo that had Apple CarPlay compatibility, I came across this and saw that it had good reviews for a good price.

Watched the Install Vid on YouTube and was like “”I can do that myself. “” Local stores wanted $300 plus for a unit that would be Apple CapPlay compatible but also did stuff I wasn’t looking for. First Glance Out The Box: At first glance out the box I thought the unit to be a bit thin and more light weight than I was expecting.

Well packed and came with what it said it would in the Video ( Unit and Adapter with Install Manual ). I had already purchased the harness from Metra for my car. After Hookup: After I hooked it up and loaded up the family for a little trip, we were all impressed with the sound quality and how well it worked with CarPlay.

I just moved to a new area and wanted something with GPS and found out after research this can be achieved with CarPlay which is why that’s all i wanted in a stereo beside easy unit navigation (On-Screen Buttons) and unit button function.

I have been looking for a nice Carplay for a while now and finally chose this one. Glad I did. This unit perfect! It fit like a glove in my car and was very easy to setup to my iPhone 12. Personally, I enjoy that it doesn’t have a bunch of buttons that are hard to figure out while driving.

It also gives the unit a sleeker look compared to my last one which had a huge volume knob. I also like that there is no cd player bc it makes more room for a larger screen. All in all I love my new stereo.

Even better I got it at a solid price!.

This radio fits perfectly in my truck. Installation was straightforward. I did need to get a steering wheel interface in order to control the unit from my steering wheel buttons. I appreciate having carplay.

I haven’t ever had a droid, so I am not sure how that works, but the carplay works just like I hoped it would. It has also been great for making calls using the bluetooth. It’s nice to not have to shout so the person on the other end of the line can hear me.

How did I survive without CarPlay? I like being able to control my apps from the radio instead of having to hold my phone. I swear it has saved me from a couple tickets. Screen is nice and bright and clear.

I kinda wish it had a CD player. but I am not exactly sure why. since I stream pretty much everything anyway. Not gonna lie, kind of impressed with this BOSS radio. I had a different opinion of them before this.

Gave it a shot and it worked out well for me.

This Boss BV9695B is an excellant deal. It plays movies and has great surround sound to it when playing Dvd. Has all the Bells and whistles to it also. I looked for a double din stereo for about 3 months before deciding on this one.

I bought a used one on offerup the first one and liked it so much that when I saw Walmart had it on sale for $117 I just had to buy one for my 85 Mustang. The first one I bought I needed it because I have a camper shell that has tinted windows so I can’t see out of the back when backing up at night.

So I bought the first one and then I bought a video camera from walmart and they hooked up great together. The back up camera that I bought from walmart for $20 Dual xcam200 and it does a good job. Using the stock speakers with this Boss head improved the sound quality in my 2010 Nissan Frontier quite a bit over the factory radio.

At 80 watts per channel it does a nice job. Quite a bit cheaper then other Double din heads on the market that is still able to do everything this one does. I feel like my 2010 Nissan has been updated to a 2021 with this upgrade and I didnt even have to buy a new truck.

This audio unit puts out excellent sound. The bluetooth connection works great. No issues with touchscreen. However, after 2 months the sound began to cut when you turn it up past 31. Then the audio would be very faint after startup (barely able to hear it at all) for a minute or two and then it would increase to whatever the volume was set at.

Now it produces NO sound at all. Submitted a warranty claim through Boss Audio. Waiting to hear back. Sound and value 5 stars. I’m hoping it was just a faulty unit.

My last stereo was a pioneer, and it cost me a fortune to install but only lasted 3 years before the connection started to drop. I wanted to try a cheaper unit, and this one seems to be a good match to the pioneer one.

It has more features, but I am not sure I will use all of them. The screen is bright, which is especially great during the daytime. I get to match colors with my interior lights, and I got year warranty.

Overall, it’s good.

I ordered this unit and was disappointed when it showed up that the box for the unit was damaged, yet had a huge label stuck to it that said something about the box being damaged but the unit okay as it was checked by technicians.

Being an expert at installing car stereos in my vehicles, I gave it a very close inspection. It appeared to not be a return and resale. However, given the damage to the product box, it should have disclosed and been offered at a discount.

Had this not been for myself and instead a gift for someone, I would have returned it because it was not presentable, at all. Now, onto the unit itself. SiriusXM appears to be 2. 0 only, so no traffic or sports updates and no Tune Start either – despite seeing somewhere it will do it.

Ive seen it advertised for this, but it doesnt have it. The first pic of the radio on the site shows a screen that I believe is for another radio, not this one. In any case, the sound is good. You can program 6 AM stations and 12 FM stations.

You can only program 6 SiriusXM stations (if you have the tuner), which I find to be a shortcoming of the radio. CarPlay works without a terrible echo on the receivers end like a Kenwood DMX4707S I had would do (which is why I replaced it).

I experienced issues with a Pioneer DMH-C2550NEX I returned to another seller. That one would just randomly turn itself off and then on again, over and over while driving. And, it is better than the Kenwood DMX4707S that I initially replaced with the Pioneer and then this Alpine.

Firmware updates are bad because one of the steps after updating the firmware is resetting to factory settings, which, of course, removes all your settings for sounds, station memory, etc. This is a huge shortfall of the OS programmers at Alpine.

Would I buy this again? No. I would not because I was expecting it to be SiriusXM 3. 0. It is not a big deal to most, but, to me, it is something I wanted to have. For an old 2006 car this is in with over 200,000 miles on the odometer, Ill live with it – hopefully the car will last another 3 years.

I have always been a big ALPINE fan. I knew I wanted to replace my Alpine cde175bt unit for a Alpine touchscreen. The iLX – 407 is the newest model. So it was a top canidate. I played with the idea of getting another name brand unit but knew I wouldn’t be happy unless it was an /////ALPINE, So I pulled the trigger and got it.

I like that the screen is glass not plastic like seen on other units from other manafactuers. I like Apple Car Play, works great and was one of the must have features when I was shopping. I like the fact that I can move around the icons and customize the screen to suit me.

I like that this unit has no buttons and is true to size at 7” ofcourse I needed 3 pairs of RCA inputs for my 4ch. Amp and mono block sub amp. So this was nice. I also wanted to mirror my iphone’s display onto the screen so having HDMI is a nice feature.

I plug in my HDMI cable {sold separately) into an APPLE HDMI adapter to lightning dongle and press HDMI on my Alpine screen and bam I’m watching youtube on my screen. I like the 5 band EQ and I’m not even gonna lie I wish it had a 13 band EQ.

But the built in x – over is a great feature. I installed a E brake bypass not having done so would be so phony. This is a great stereo I wish I could give it 6 stars. Wish it could play Cd’s and dvd’s but it is what it is.

I was gonna get a ilx -650 but seen this came out and wanted the latest model.

Let’s itemize this. o No cutting required. I installed this in an apartment parking lot away from home and my shop. I am not an experienced mechanic or electrician. o The cables are a *tight* fit in the dash.

There are a lot of options on the various wiring harness cables, most of which I don’t need. I had to cram them in the back wherever they could fit. o I used to have Sirius XM radio. Unless I buy another adapter, I no longer have it.

This radio is not compatible with the existing XM tuner. o You need to hook the new control module up to a laptop to program it through a website. That was my longest delay in installation. It took a while to get the website to install the firmware.

o The cooling fan runs for a couple of minutes after you turn off the vehicle. Not a problem, but it’s different from the stock head unit. o This radio comes with an external GPS antenna and external microphone.

I don’t know how much the GPS antenna helps; I didn’t have a problem with GPS reception on my cell phone before now. Regarding the microphone, people on the other end of my phone calls say that the audio is a little clearer, but fainter.

The included instructions say to mount the microphone behind the mirror, but the included clip doesn’t really work well. The microphone is directional, and the clip does a poor job at aiming it toward then driver.

o I’ve had problems with Android Auto. Occasionally and without any obvious trigger, the Android Auto screen is blank and unresponsive. Once this event triggers, you can’t use the phone through that screen, and you can’t go back to Bluetooth.

The Bluetooth screen says you can’t use it when Android Auto is in play. I have to turn the vehicle off and walk away for a while to reset the problem. This might only be a problem with my unit, but I’m not replacing it with a new unit.

This one was tight enough to install. o I got to keep my steering wheel controls. This was a large part of my decision to purchase this unit. o I installed the OBD connector. It’s neat to see the vehicle information on the dash.

o A lot of the setup menus are hidden behind parking brake protection. You have to set the brake, release it, then set it again in order to access the menus. Overall? This is better than the factory unit.

It’s worth it to get rid of the audio lag the original unit had.

Installed in 2003 Ford Excursion. Very pleased thus far (1 month of Bluetooth use so far). Sound is good, my phone calls nor music ever cut out – connects easily and quickly to my phone every time I hop in.

The touchscreen is bright and works well. If I would have known how affordable a new audio / video system was before hand then I would have purchased this when I got my ole Excursion. Also purchased a finish trim and power connection from American International – so $98 total for the system.

Then a $75 install because I am too lazy to do it myself. For $173 total – I couldn’t be happier. Thanks for the solid unit! FYI on comparisons, my local shop that installed it had units I could have bought too.

I am sure they are a little nicer. but they started at $500 (!) and up. I paid $85 for this unit. what a steal.

I was looking for an inexpensive replacement receiver for my vehicle. This model had everything I was looking for: Bluetooth, streaming, and usb. It also has a CD player if Im feeling nostalgic. The touchscreen is fairly responsive and the rest of the controls are a breeze to use.

The reason why I bought this was for the cd/DVD player because the vehicle I installed it in had a double din and someone did a hack job of installing it. I thought for a little over 100 bucks this would have terrible screen qautity I was wrong the screen is great the touch screen is difficult to operate with your finger but they give stylus that fixes that problem id say if you want a DVD player buy it if your building a show car this is not the one for you.

I have installed many stereos over the years, but this unit has one of the weakest tuners I have ever seen. Perhaps most people buy this unit for the DVD player, blue tooth, usb, etc, but in the end a radio should have a decent tuner.

I installed this unit in a 2005 Toyota Corolla. I intended to replace the factory radio because it’s CD player was having issues. My Toyota has a tuner amp which I wired correctly. In addition, I ran a heavy duty wire from car chassis to the case of the radio, all to no avail.

My connections are all soldered and shrunk wrapped. The factory tuner easily locked in on stations 30 miles away with no cut out or static. The Blaupunkt tuner failed to lock in on even local stations and ones it did receive faded in and out of stereo.

I bought this radio, with very few reviews available and so was blindsided by it’s performance. To summarize, do not buy this radio if you want to receive radio stations off the air.

Real user friendly with “app” type selections like a smart phone. Comes with a remote that works for all functions. The DVD player is vivid and plays quickly along with great audio surround sound. Bluetooth hookup was easy and comes with a mic.

The mic clip is cheap but most usually stuff it in the pillar anyway & wire is a little short. Several rear inputs for sub, video in/out, and f/r rca for amps. Can supply rca support for 3 amplifiers.

Along with rear camera option/support. S/D card and auxiliary inputs in the front along with USB. Radio picks up stations in 50 mile radius and locals were crisp & clear. I would highly recommend this unit for a double din replacement in a base model newer car.

In the $100 range it ranks with those 2-3 times as much. I’m very happy with the function and ease of use. Remote is a bonus & will save wear n tear on the screen. Great deal for the money!!.

This is the second unit, I bought the first unit from another seller on another website. The unit starts up good and sounds great but after a little while at a little over half volume the unit shuts down and restarts.

If you turn the volume down to a third it stays on, but if you have off road tires you can not hear the radio at that volume. The unit I just recieved today and installed does the exact same thing, I did research and could not find anyone who has had this problem.

Will try dealing with Blaupunkt directly the first retailer told me I will have to send it back to them to repair if they can figure out what is wrong with it.

this radio sucks, after the money spent for it and the money spent to have it installed ( $300 ) I wish I could snatch this thing out my car and trash it. After the installation I noticed the thing wouldn’t recognize any cd I put in it, it just spit it back out every time, including DVDs.

The universal serial bus port is not recognized either except to charge my phone. The touch has a delay that makes me cringe every time I try to do something and the GPS is even worse. I absolutely hate this radio and now I have to spend more more money just to replace it and another installation cost for the new one.

Pls don’t buy this piece of mess. This radio makes me wonder about all the Boss products now. I wouldn’t rate this mess with any stars but I had to give it 1 just to leave this review.

There are some things that BOSS did well, and some things that make this stereo annoying, but terribly frustrating. Pros: -It uses a relatively tech savvy equalizer for audio. -It has a navigation system (More on that in the cons section).

-It has most features that many mid-grade audio systems have. -It is a good price for a Double Din Stereo. Cons: -The digitizer for the touch screen is terrible at figuring out where i’m (or anyone else) is scrolling to.

It does this quirky swiping thing which makes using the touch screen aspect kind of null when using it. -It doesn’t always read new selections on an SD card without needing to be reset. annoying. -The SD card slot is positioned so that if you’re not careful you’ll slide your SD card into a hollow void that sits just to the right of the actual SD card slot.

I”ve lost more than one now because of that stupid flaw. -When it comes to the GPS navigation aspect. No. just no. It’s HORRIBLE!!! Please get Google maps or something easier to use/navigate/start/end/read/input/trust etc.

I’ts so bad i’d like to remove it from the radio, but even if i figure that out I’ll have a dedicated “Navi” button. although, I guess i could just say it has something to do with The Ocarina Of Time, after all, the Navigation aspect of that radio must be from the 90’s anyways.

Don’t let the cons scare you away though, they’re just really specific issues i have with this radio. Overall it’s good for what you pay!.

I’m not one to typically leave reviews, especially if they’re negative, but with that being said I hope to save someone the time, money, and aggravation this stereo has caused. It’s garbage. For one, as others have mentioned, the contrast of the screen is terrible during the day.

You simply can’t see it. Also the hands-free-mic barely works. The few calls I’ve received, I’ve had to switch from bluetooth to hand held because the person on the other end of the call couldn’t hear me or understand what I was saying.

Totally defeats the purpose. The built in nav is also very outdated. It did not recognize newer roads or even streets that had their name changed in the last year. And finally, after spending over $400 to have this professionally installed (with new speakers and the back up cam) it stopped working after 48 hours.

After TWO DAYS all I have is a dead, black screen. After the money I spent on install and what it’s going to take to have it replaced/fixed, I’m ready to just tear it out of my truck and light it on fire.

Buyer beware.

I bought this unit so I could use Apple CarPlay for traveling in my GMC Yukon! And I must say I was very impressed with the quality of this product and its display. It’s touchscreen is flawless the display is beautiful, and it’s easy to follow instructions made installation a breeze! I’d highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a budget type upgrade.

The Dual DCPA701 receiver is a great product. Car play works great with it. The bluetooth works as it should for wireless streaming. It actually made my stock speakers sound great! (which they did not with the factory stereo).

All in all I highly recommend.

I recommend this receiver over the Kenwood dmx4707 due to the fact that it has the same features but better, 4v pre-outs compared to 2v with the Kenwood, also has more background choices and better display quality, the EQ is noticeably better to me anyhow, the Dual has time alignment too.

with actual physical buttons for volume, the Dual is easier to use seeing that both receivers do not come with a remote, also I like that the Dual buttons are in the front and not on the side like with the Kenwood.

my Kenwood crapped out after only 3 months of use.

Value Amazing unit for the $549 I paid for it. The build quality is very good. It’s compact and light. This unit has exactly what I need and nothing more which I love. It’s not feature rich but it does what it promises very well.

Ease of use The touch screen works very well, no different to a smartphone. The interface is responsive and quick with barely any delay visible. The buttons and their haptic feedback are excellent, just a little small.

The lack of a rotary volume button is a bit annoying but I can live without it. Screen The screen is sufficient. It is fairly low resolution, don’t expect it to be as sharp as your phone. Its brightness and associated controls to set this are excellent with good dimming for different light scenarios.

The biggest weakness is the viewing angle with colours being noticeable washed out when viewed at an angle (which is always the case unless you sit centre backseat). Sound This unit has a Class D amplifier which delivers excellent sound quality.

I was very impressed and found this to be the best feature of the unit. It’s powerful throughout the whole spectrum with excellent lows and detailed highs. Good dynamic range throughout and enough separation for car audio.

The sound settings are really good as well. They are not as feature rich as some more high end units, with some more advanced configuration missing e. g. for cars with different pairs of speaker types (e.

g. “exciters”) or a higher number of speakers installed (e. g. 8-12 speaker setups). Installation Cable management is not ideal with the USB cables (there are 2 of them) permanently attached to the unit.

Since I only use one of them I would like to be able to remove the other. Connectivity is good with all features of my car (Toyota FJ Cruiser) being supported. I needed various wiring harnesses: 1 for the USB port, another for Toyota to ISO, another for Sony to ISO, one more for Steering Wheel Controls.

It comes with a mic that I confused with the steering wheel controls input. Both inputs use the same connector. This resulted in the steering wheel controls and the mic not working and the unit having features randomly turned on and off as the sound picked up from the mic triggered this.

Total user error and super easy fix as I just had to swap the cables but could have been preventable by using different plugs for different things. Pros This is a straightforward headunit with a clean and minimal look and feel to its software as well as hardware.

It has a limited feature set and does those things very very well. The sound quality is excellent. Minus aka where Sony cut corners No wireless Carplay or Android auto Low resolution 800 x 480 TFT screen Bad viewing angle of screen Slow USB charging.

An excellent headunit with quality graphics and simple installation. The screen looks great, high resolution so it looks sharp and displays everything nicely. The Android Auto is particularly nice with the maps and other apps displaying nicely and very easy to set up.

I bought some wiring harnesses and a fascia unit which made installation quite quick and easy. It comes with a long USB cable for plugging in your phone to make Android Auto or Apple Carplay work. It includes the microphone for handsfree phone calls, it has the socket on the back for plugging in a reversing camera input.

The bezel-less display screen looks nice and the buttons down the bottom of the screen look nice too. It will fit in a double din slot but only had a single din backside, so there is heaps of rooms for cable storage so they don’t all get jammed up at the back of the unit.

Would recommend as a high quality and easy to use unit with good sound from a built-in amplifier and quality Sony craftsmanship and sound.

Very happy with this simple receiver. For one, it has a volume knob — steering wheel controls do not negate the need for one of these. The screen is responsive and the UI is so simple it can’t be slow.

The internal amplifier seems to clip at 30 out of 50. at least when connected via an adapter module to my Lexus LS430 factory amp. The bluetooth works great. Overall SQ is excellent for a vehicle environment.

Screen is a bit small but this is also not expensive and it’s all you will ever need in your old car. I like that it plays FLAC files and other lossless content, too. It’s one unfortunate fault is that instead of making the receiver’s depth very shallow, it has the same depth as a single-DIN on the top half.

In most cars these days, either a more shallow overall design or the meat of the components being on the bottom would be much better. I had to cut out things to get this to fit. I would have had to cut out the same things for a CD/DVD receiver.

I’d rather a digital media receiver be shallow!.

PROS: Large Screen Flexible mounting position Abundance of EQ options CONS: Poor screen resolution Large bezels No volume knob Limited options for customizing the look (few colors & no wallpaper) No wireless Android Auto or Carplay No Bluray/DVD/CD slot I understand that I’ve listed many gripes above, but first and foremost, for me, I needed a receiver that allowed me to customize the sound the way I wanted.

When it comes to that, this radio does it better than any other receiver that’s widely available. It allows you to set volume levels by source, EQ settings by source and speakers, and crossover settings by speaker.

Furthermore, there’s an app that you can also use to make adjustments using your phone. As for the look, I prefer it over a traditional double DIN for my vehicle, because a regular double DIN receiver would have left blank plastic spacers on either side of the radio.

With this unit, most people who’ve rode in the vehicle think it’s stock. It helps that all of the factory functionality has remained, including steering wheel controls and backup camera. However, retaining all factory functions required an additional purchase of a Maestro unit and other components at about $150 extra.

My biggest gripe with the unit is that there’s no volume knob. Prior to my purchase, I didn’t think I’d miss the knob as much, but I was terribly wrong. The bezels around the screen are huge by even 2016 standards.

I feel that Alpine could have certainly put a volume knob in the lower left corner and perhaps a tune/seek knob on the lower right. The touch buttons and steering wheel controls work well enough for what they are, but when you need to make immediate adjustments, they just can’t compare to the knobs that most of us have become accustomed to.

My other major complaint is the shameful screen resolution. In this day and age where 5 and 6 inch mobile phones have 1080p screens or better, the 480p resolution on this 9 inch screen is dreadful by comparison.

On many screens and menus, the resolution won’t be much of an issue, however anytime there’s smaller print or fine details displayed, the pitifully low resolution becomes obvious. It should also be noted that this radio is very restrictive about the adjustments you’re allowed to make unless you have applied the parking brake.

You can’t even enter the settings menu without applying the parking brake! I understand locking out video while driving, but Alpine has gone overboard here. Fortunately, there are ways around this restriction, but I’ll leave you to your Googles to find them.

I will say that the solution was very easy, cheap and effective. Both Apple Carplay and Android Auto work, but unfortunately they’re not wireless. It should be noted that if using either of these, the radio disables Bluetooth.

So if I have one phone connected via Bluetooth and I subsequently connect my other phone via Carplay/Android Auto, the Bluetooth connection is immediately dropped. Research seems to indicate that this is a restriction implemented by Apple and Google.

So I can’t fault Alpine here. All in all, the radio is just OK for the money. Alpine has a cheaper model, the ILX-207, that has almost the exact same functionality as this ILX-F309. It’s only a 7 inch screen, but you may prefer it as the resolution doesn’t look as bad on the smaller display.

My advice is to get the cheaper one. I do like the innovative thinking with this 9 inch floating display; hopefully Alpine will improve on this idea. If they can correct the major issues, I’ll certainly be looking to upgrade.

Great install videos on line. really helped. Installed this with backup camera at the same time. Took longer than advertised but did this with my daughter too. she did great routing wires, etc! Tight fit behind the head unit with the Maestro harness etc.

keep that Maestron on top of the headunit and oriented correctly. will help. I made two errors initially. put a 4 pin connector in wrong area of the Maestro which resulted in steering wheel volume controls etc not to work.

I also put a small harness connection back in the wrong area on the rear of the hazzards/button panel resulted in hazards not working. After thinking through the problem, freeze framing some videos. we diagnosed the problem(s) and now we are up and running very well.

good reception. LOTS and LOTS of options for audio. love the display/color options too. Sounds better than standard. especially with the various equalizer settings. Apple CarPlay works perfectly!. No problem with iphone calls from the steering wheel.

Easy to hear driver on the phone too (i. e. hearing/receiving calls from the jeep). placed the microphone per video on the rearview mirror. PERFECT fit in the dash. should have been there all along. My only concern.

hope it doesn’t get wet. I know the larger upgraded version has better water protection. Very glad we put this in. but certainly $$$.

I wanna start off by saying that this headunit put a big dent in my wallet, but it looks so amazing that I think it’s really worth it. It doesn’t look like your typical aftermarket headunit. It honestly looks like the Jeep came with this headunit installed.

Carplay is such an awesome system. This is my first experience with it, but so far, I’m really loving it. I gave the unit a 4 star rating based on two minor reasons. 1. The resolution of this unit is honestly kinda bad.

It’s clear, but the edges around certain things on screen like the icons of your iPhone apps are very grainy and not smooth. It’s not a big deal, but when I’m spending over a grand after installation on a headunit, I expect it to be like TOP TIER in terms of technology.

2. Carplay or Android Auto only works if you use a lightning cable or USB cord for your device. It has to be plugged in in order to use either software. It came supplied with a USB extenstion cord that we routed through the glove box, but still.

I’ve seen less expensive units that don’t need your phone to be plugged in at all times to use Carplay or Android Auto. It’s a huge upgrade compared to my stock unit with NO UConnect or anything. I think it’s up to you whether or not it’s worth the price.

I bought this for a Ford work van primarily to listen to audio books. It was relatively easy to install because I had installed a different unit earlier in the year that I was not happy with and was able to use most of the wiring and mounting hardware from that install.

It does not come with a back up camera but I re-used the one from the other unit. It displays a much better picture than the other unit did with that same camera. Im very happy with its performance so far.

There is a noticeable difference in the sound quality even with the existing stock speakers. It keeps its settings when you restart the vehicle. Does not stop playing when Im reversing and the camera comes on.

I do not set up the phone feature so I cant speak to that aspect of performance, but it pairs with my iPhone for streaming the audio books automatically. It might or might not suit the needs of a young whipper snapper but this old guy is very happy with it.

I was looking to upgrade my single din radio in my Ford RV but I did not want to go overboard on cost. After looking at many products and reviews, I settled on the Boss BV9364B. It gave me exactly what I was looking for; touch screen, BT, DVD/CD, MP3, of course radio, but what I also wanted was the Aux input for my mobile satellite radio.

I did not need the rear camera input, I already had a unit but that option is available on another model. 2 little negatives, 1st is the lack of info for installation, thanks to You Tube for some great videos for different car makes, I installed myself, no issues.

2nd was the remote, very bad, but who should use that while driving anyways. Overall, great unit so far. Many products out there but for $100 you can’t ask for more!.

I was very excited to get his unit and the first day installed i loved it and the Carplay mode impressed me because it incorporated my maps from my iphone to the units display n all my phone contacts n hand free calling and everything so i loved the unit ! Unfortunately it got stuck in reverse camera mode n stayed that way i have to get a replacement unit n i have to cover the shippong cost even though the items was defective which seemed unfair to me.

I order through happeshopper by the way so know if you get a lemon device u are responsible for shipping to exchange it. Other then that i love the device when it worked and cant wait for my replacement order to come! Hopefully it isnt a lemon.

I got this just for CarPlay. The startup time is really long and then the startup of carpal takes even longer and sometimes doesn’t always come up correctly. So every time you get in the car it’s a long wait.

Works great though once it’s up and running. I would look into the Alpine for a clean CarPlay experience. The OS for the Pioneer is bloated with tons of things you’ll never use. If you’re not using Apple it’s a good unit.

So glad I went with this deck. You can customize the button light colors to match your car. The android auto is a great feature, and works very well. Just tell it where to go and it navigates you there within a few seconds.

The dvd clarity is great, and easy to bypass so your passengers can watch movies while you’re driving.

The product itself has been working very well. The parking brake sequence to get into the settings mode is a bit tedious, but I don’t go into that mode very often. I have occasional issues where my phone won’t connect to the Bluetooth, but I have a feeling that is the phone and not this unit.

I pretty much exclusively use Bluetooth and Android Auto. I wish the clock on the radio would sync with the time on my phone when it is hooked up. Android Auto is quite handy and I don’t want another vehicle without it.

The one downside is that it changed the chime in my truck, that apparently goes through the radio. It’s slightly more obnoxious that the OEM tone, but nothing that I haven’t gotten used to. Sound quality is as good as the OEM unit, maybe a touch better.

But it’s all still OEM speakers so there’s probably room for improvement. I paid $300 for this unit. Apparently the cost has gone up to $550. At that price, I wouldn’t have bought it. There are plenty of options closer to the $300 price point that would be adequate.

Bought this back when it was cheaper, and this was a banger of a deal. If you want great, clean audio output with a fine adjustability with no extra hoo-hah, this is the one. I have bought two of these for personal use and unless they come out with a newer model, will keep buying these.

I grew up back in the day where you had to spend over a grand to get this quality. Little to no unwanted noise on max volume. Very responsive touch interface. Quick connection every time. And a detailed EQ.

Installed on a 2007 4Runner and 2014 Rogue. Buy this.

Excellent head unit. Replaced stock unit in a 2011 civic. Perfect fit with the new double din dash plate (bought separately). Apple car play is awesome. completely syncs just about everything with an Iphone.

Have not tried android but assume it’s the same. I have this powering a 2200w complete system. Once in a blue moon, it does clip, I think it’s from heat because I have the alpine KTP-445U mounted behind it but it rarely happens, only when I’m really pushing it for long extended periods.

There’s a TON of x-over/eq settings, but you don’t get to access them unless car is in park and e-brake is on. But there’s a TON. (I use none of them, all filtering is done at the amp level). I do hate that you can’t customize the wallpaper.

I think that would have been a great feature to add. Also, would have been great if it streamed youtube videos. I get it. it’s a safety feature. but even in park with e-brake on. you cannot stream video to it.

BUT. you can put video onto a USB stick and with the car in park and ebrake on, you can view videos on said USB stick. Other than that. nice crisp, clear head unit. exactly what you’d expect from Alpine.

Installed in my 2006 GMC Sierra and it fit with some effort to force inside dash wiring harnesses around to make room. But it will go. Also if u have Bose speakers u DO have a Bose amp in ur console.

Instructions mislead here. So be sure and wire accordingly. That wire is identified on ur new harness. Just dont miss that small over sight. I finally tried it and it worked. Great sound with bose. More bass than u even want.

I replaced the stock stereo system in my 2010 Mercury Mariner (which is the same as a Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute), taking the old stereo out is okay but make sure you get the correct wiring harness adapter to use with this.

It runs beautifully, navigation is good and keeps track of the cars movement easily. Sound quality very good I’m using a micro sd card for that but it also takes CD, DVD and USB. The back up camera input works perfectly as long as you wire it up correctly.

Bluetooth for the phone and also for music input again works great with no problem. You can also change the wallpaper on the unit to a photo of your own just put pictures on a usb stick, plug it in, go to pictures and then crop to make it set them to that feature.

remote is very daunting and not user friendly, to be honest I don’t use it. Once you have it set up and paired to your phones the bluetooth will kick in even if the stereo is turned off, tried that out today, very pleased.

Basically everything I need it to do, it does. Steering wheel controls also work with this unit without and extra adapter, I managed to get the volume keys, skip or search for radio keys and the change media all to work which is the main ones really.

I think Best Buy did a good job of installing it, but one thing they didn’t do, was give me the box and owners manual after installation. I had to go back to the store to get it the next day, and they dug it out of the trash.

They should always ask if the purchaser wants it, I had to consult the manual to do some of the set up. I generally like the Planet Audio Radio GPS, it sounds good and I like the GPS. But one thing I do not like about it, is that even though the GPS display does dim when headlights are turned on, the brightness of the display isn’t adjusted by my interior light brightness control and the display of the GPS is too bright at night,.

Overall a great stereo that has modern features such as Android Auto/Car Play. The features included hit every checkbox. Bluetooth calling good, phone hookup good, performance decent. Depending on your vehicle volume is doable but screen buttons not dial.

Resolution is decent but not impressive. If you have steering wheel buttons for stereo it is supposed to work. We didn’t have those in car so can’t say how they work. It is advisable to install usb and aux port on dash so you can plug into back of this stereo, otherwise installer will run usb out of a seam in dash.

Android mirroring does work BUT streaming apps are only visible on phone. Probably a safety restraint, though could be limited to when parked. I dont have a rooted phone so can’t get it to work. The stereo does not have the ability to install apps like netflix that I have seen, so no way to use phone as wifi hotspot for stereo that would solve Android Mirroring limitations.

Still a great stereo that works well hands free and it a major upgrade to the stock AM/FM radio. I would recommend unit.

This stereo is horrible! Perhaps I got a lemon. On car play or Bluetooth mode, the music constantly stops and I have to reach over and push play on the screen over and over. It doesn’t work with my iPhone, it constantly switches between the car speakers, phone, or phone speaker phone randomly making it nearly impossible to make a call.

If my phone rings while driving, my ringtone comes over the speakers at an extremely high volume. All these distractions will get me killed if I don’t get it out of my car! Best Buy took almost $600 from me with free installation for all the added wiring stuff it required.

But because I didn’t go back to them with the problems for over 90 days, they won’t exchange the unit. JVC put me on hold for an hour then tells me to send them the unit for repair. Best Buy doesn’t want to remove and reinstall the unit for free.

Its the new normal I guess! On the upside, my clock has been accurate, not going off time as other reviewers indicated. And it does sound great when it actually works.

The shallow mount is perfect for 2014-2018 Chevy Silverado. With this setup there’s no need to cut anything inside the dash like you normally would to fit a double din. There’s a few minor issues I’ve had with mine.

After only a few months the clock starts displaying random times and won’t keep the corrected time. The touch screen isn’t as sensitive anymore. Usually takes 2 taps for any input (volume, skip song etc).

It does mirror Android well but only shows a black screen with Netflix playing. I had to wire in a switch for my backup camera to come on. Besides those minor issues it’s been great! For the money it’s definitely worth it.

I recently returned this radio. It could have been great, but it lacks standard features which made me not like it. From a physical construction standpoint it is VERY well built. From a features standpoint it’s missing the ability to be on the home screen displaying Time and Date without some kind of audio playing.

You either had to mute it or turn it off. Also because of this quirk it wouldn’t stay on the date and time but 20 seconds before going back to whatever other audio mode it’s in. Turning the unit off meant the screen went black with no time or date displayed.

Every other double din large screen radio has an idle or Home Screen feature like that, this one doesn’t. The radio box leads you to believe it receives RDS data for station and song ID. Well it doesn’t.

You see frequency (Like 97. 9FM) and that’s it. The Android Auto worked well on the unit, but that’s really the only positive for it to be honest. Ended up buying an import radio from a different online retailer for ten dollars less than this one and it has all the features this one lacks and also has Android Auto and Carplay.

Dual really dropped the ball on what could have been an excellent budget stereo. It’s simply a matter of programming a better user interface, the hardware is already there.

I LOVE THIS STEREO! I have been using dual for a while now and started with their $30 Single Din Bluetooth stereo then to their XVM279BT (Basic Touchscreen with no car play or maps) and then to this one.

Car Play is Seemless and the screen looks great. I do this low voltage stuff for a living. People having issues with it shutting off on bumps or heat, make sure to use butt splices or heat shrink. it will allow u to keep a solid connection and protect agianst heat.

Also, when u install the camera, make sure to ground it to ur brake light ground that goes to your car NOT the ground to the stereo, that is only for your SUB ground or external speaker. The issue is not the stereo its the people trying to use two ground lines to one smaller gauge line.

U can fix this by running a 14AWG ground line to like a random bolt on ur frame if u can find the Brake light ground point. But I love the advanced EQ customization as well as the higher power output and sensitivity, it allows me to buy cheaper speakers (Schoshe to be specific) and tune them to sound exactly if not better then middle range kenwoods or sonys.

I like this thing. It’s built solid and it sounds. The only thing I can complain about is them not having a micro sd slot or another usb port. I like running a microsd or a usb with all my music on it.

The file system is easy to navigate, blue tooth works great as well. It rembers me and connects automatically when I start the car. I tried a atoto unit and the screen on this unit is way better and you can actually dim it alot which is the main reason I bought this.

Liking this thing so far. Duel if you read these add another use snd a micro usb port!.

It’s a great little radio that has a built in amplifier with the option of being installed along side with the KTA-450 by Alpine. Honestly, the built in amp alone is powerful enough for me and I may upgrade my stock oem speakers as recommended and replace them with Alpine Speakers.

Also I see some people may say you need to buy a amplifier with is and I wanna say NO YOU DON’T (or maybe not in everyone’s case) I installed my Alpine-iLX-W650 in my 2014 Nissan Rogue S. I love how shallow this radio unit is as well as it’s so shallow it makes adding the option of adding a Amp like the KTA-450 to the back and still having room in your dash to tuck wires back behind your radio unit easy.

Great value. Looks good. Installation instructions misleading. When I installed it in my 2012 Subaru Forester. I had to purchase as mounting kit from Amazon, a trim kit to fill in the space in the dark as well as a wiring harness to match up with the factory Subaru harness.

Soldered all the connections and put shrink wrap tubes on the soldered joints. On the Sony harness provided, there was a blue wire with white stripe that stated if you don’t have a power antenna to tape it off, likewise the harness I purchased to match up to the Subaru harness had a blue wire.

Turns out I had poor radio reception. After calling Sony for tech help, they could not help other than say that I wired it incorrectly – so much for the tech help. I went on line to the Forester vehicle forum and found that the shark fin antenna on the Forester as well as many other foreign cars has a signal amplifier on it – and to hookup the blue wires – problem solved! Great reception and love the radio.

This unit may not have all the bells and whistles of other models but it is a solid choice. All I wanted was Apple Carplay and 6 channels of rca outputs. I dont need time correction and that other stuff.

With the din chassis and the double-din screen I didnt have to do any cutting behind my dash to make it fit. Love the usb being in the rear. The carplay has worked from day one with no problems. My ILX-W650 in my other car took a couple of updates before it was reliable and it is still pretty finicky.

The only thing I would change about it is the size of the buttons. They are hard to hit some times when I am driving. For less than $350 I am not complaining. I spent more than that for my Alpine and I like this one better.

Great unit for the $. I had bought a $400 kenwood dmx4707s that was way overpriced for what it was. I returned it and got this and so glad I did! Sounds great, looks great, easy setup. Just all around the best radio in the 400 and under range IMHO.

Only negative is I wish you could add custom wallpapers.

It’s a radio. Does what I need it to do. The radio and brackets don’t line up all that great so it has to sit back a little for everything to fit. Maybe I had something a little off but I’ve installed alot of radios before.

This just didn’t sit quite right. But at the end of the day it has everything you need and is easy to hook up. Might end up replacing the head unit at some point. Just seems a little cheap.

the head unit fits the “replacement kit” is kind of crappy. the mounting brackets don’t fit flush to the dash and leaves gaps so if you are going for a show room floor build buy something else. if you have a trail rig then this is fine has nice controls and easy wiring set up but make sure you read the instructions or else you will get it backwards.

has back up camera connections and you can apparently hok it up to play video I just never used that.

This Pioneer AVH-210EX fit perfectly in my 2009 F-150 XLT and sounds great, but the Pioneer instructions began with, “Don’t install this yourself. ” When I read that it had to tie into the emergency brake for certain functions that are incompatible with driving (like watching a DVD), that the microphone cable had to run around the end of the windshield, and that the passenger airbag had to be removed and replaced, I took the kit to a Pro Car Audio shop in Austin.

It took them three hours (and $155) to install the kit and required a $40 fitting kit “because yours ain’t a base model truck. ” I’m happy with the appearance, the performance, and ease of operation, but it’s no “easy 1-hour installation” with “common garage tools” unless you’re a car audio pro.
