20 Best Torque Wrench For Bikes (2023 Updated)

Excellent quality, and great range for torque. I only wish instead of the single long hex bit they had included an extension. But I already have a bunch of bits and extensions, so this isn’t really an issue for me.

I’ve only had the torque wrench for a couple of weeks, so can’t comment on it’s longevity, but so far I’m very pleased with it. I’ve used it several times on my carbon fiber bike frame and found it easy to use and so far the selection of bits that came with it have been all that I needed.

The wrench appears to be well made, as does the case it comes in. I haven’t been able to check its accuracy yet, but it seems to be functioning properly. At this point I’m very pleased with my purchase.

At first I thought I’d give it try and not much to lose for the price. A fantastic little tool which I’ve used on my sensitive bicycle parts which require precise tightening and no overtightening. Buy it, works beautifully and cheaper than the competition.

This is a must for people with carbon fiber bikes who do the work themselves. This wrench is easy to use and appears to be accurate. I have a tendency to over tighten and have crushed several handlebars before I purchased this wrench.

Since then, I have not even had any deformities.

While these are not super easy to use they will give a good indication of how tight you are doing things. The dial format used on this tool makes it extremely rugged as well

It works as it is designed to work. However, if I had it to do all over, I would buy a click type torque wrench. Working on the brakes of my Terratrike Rover in my garage, there have been many times, I have been unable to see the scale because the wrench is upside down as I reach to the fastener that needs tightening.

A professional with a proper stand would be unlikely to experience this issue.

I love the simplicity of this torque wrench. The measurement torque is to the point and not some weird decimal number like on some torque wrenches. I just need to buy extra bits and socket adapters to go with it.

For cycling mechanics, this is the benchmark to go for, affordable for most, plus Parktool approval. Personally I like made in USA stamp, but a lot of Cycling components made in far East, have to say Shimano my overall Favourite.

Easy to use and cleverly design in a compact size for simple stem, seat, handle bar and other minor do-it-yourself jobs. The quality is superb. Is pricey but worth it.

I have bought numerous Wera tools in the past and have been well pleased with their performance – but this !?! It arrived in the post today. First thing I noticed, it was leaking oil from around the ratchet head like it had been filled with the stuff! It was everywhere and just kept coming out once I tried the ratchet.

Then I noticed the numbers in the window didn’t line up correctly. When the main number was on a line, the small numbers were on 3 instead of zero. All in all, not worth half the cost.

Prefer this kit over Matco and harbor freight. This kit has the most adapter pieces on the market. All other kits with leave you stranded using a pipe wrench with a sketchy angle. This kit also has well machined adapters that fit well unlike the harbor freight kit.

Im not opposed to harbor freight tools, this one is flat out better and costs $30 more. Highly recommend over competitors.

Bought both the A5 and C2 which offer me the total torque range required for MTB. The quality of Wera is just so much better than the one I currently have from Pro-tools. Changing the torque is a breeze, pull on the back of the wrench and it stays in place, turn (which is smooth) till you get to the desired torque and pop the back button back in.

Also the torque is easy to read out due to the clear measurement scale.

This is a large, quality torque wrench. It has a large LCD and buttons for setting the desired torque, it shows the measured torque (though seems to start from about 3Nm) and is generally very easy to use.

The larger bits use the square adapter but also you get a square-to-hex adapter so you can use the commonly available hex bits. The selection of both small and large bits in the box is pretty good and you’re unlikely to need anything extra.

It’s a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. This torque wrench does it all, 4-80nm (84nm max. toleration), measures torque in forward and backwards motion very precisely, and provides other measurement readings besides nm.

The wrench was a bit larger than expected and a tad confusing to use at first with the provided instructions, but you get the hang of it after 1 or 2 uses. I have nothing but praise, only wish I had more things to torque now!.

Great tool if it is accurate. calibration cert was not correct for the serial number so may as well use it for toilet paper. DO you want to risk on carbon? Dont go cheap unless you can calibrate it yourself.

Does the job for me though. Just be sure that you have clicked the torque adjuster in after setting. Otherwise it is disengaged and you will over-tighten! Quality seems decent though. Aren’t most things made in China anyway.

This tool is really accurate. It even comes with a certificate of calibration and a conversion table so you don’t need to google the measurements every time you use it. All the bits are good quality, and the wrench itself is solid.

It has a solid click in the ratchet and is comfortable to hold in your hand. The ratchet has a pivot point in the neck that disengages once you reach the desired torque measurement that is easy to get used to after the first use.

Even the box it comes in is solid, compact and fits nicely wherever I put it, taking up no more space on the workbench than it absolutely has to. Thanks to this fantastic, relatively inexpensive tool, all the bits and bolts on my good bike are the torque they need to be, no more and no less.

If you need to tighten the bolts on your bike to the right torque, this is the tool for you. There’s no point in trying to guesswork the torque on your expensive components, so spend the little extra in this and you will not be disappointed.

Easy to use. Very good Indicator ensuring you don’t miss when your desired setting is achieved. Good range of settings and feels good in the hand. Rachet is smooth and the head includes a lock mechanism to ensure the selected bit doesn’t fall out.

Comes with all the accessories you need for bicycle maintenance. Highly recommended. Haven’t had it tested against a calibrated model but tension did “feel” correct and consistent.

I bought this no hub wrench thinking it would be just like the old ones the old guys use that are all beat up and cruddy but still kicking. this new RIGID is seemingly nice, its heavy and aesthetically pleasing but upon further inspection and some initial use, it does seem a bit on the cheap side for a rigid tool.

Perhaps its because its made in china and the ones back in the day were USA? I’m not sure but I own a Wheeler Rex torque wrench (also not US made) for the larger 3/8″ Husky bands and it is alot better quality and the lock mechanism is way better where as on the rigid its a flimsy thin pressed metal piece.

I would recommend a Raptor or Wheeler Rex torque wrench over the Rigid sadly.

it works every time. we are now fighting over who gets to use it for work. LOL. have to get more. yes you can get a wrench but with this no more guessing. once it clicks you are done. what I found that is helpful is once you get a click just rotate it once more time and it’s good to go.

right tool for the job.

I bought this at the start of my first year. It has held up but that may because it can only do the small cast iron couplings which is not often used in commercial plumbing. If you buy this just know you will likely either be buying the other one or barrowing the other torque wrench from a coworker.

I have been using this for about 2 months. Things were going fine. A nice little torque wrench that is very compact. I have two issues though: 1. You must be in a position to see the dial which sometimes is difficult.

(There is no audible click to alert you to when you are done. ) and 2. The material is not robust at all and the bits BREAK. I was REMOVING a torx screw on a new part. Not rusted and not in there tight at all and the tip of the bit broke off within the screw.

I have built bikes and am an engineer and this was not user error. The material is a brittle metal and not robust. So I went to my local Ace and picked up some new torx bits which were a much stronger allow and the screw came out easily.

I would advise the company to at least choose a different material for the bits, and consider designing with an audible feedback. I would not buy again and would look for a different product.

This is a high quality product, and it comes in a smart and organised carrying case. Comes with all the bits you would need to work on a bicycles, including a long version of a 5mm and a T25. The ratchet is slim, high engagement, pleasant to use and easy to use one-handed.

The bits are precisely machined and will not dig into bolts like some cheap undersized bits will do. The only thing I have to reproach to it is that the torque wrench can be a bit odd to use in some positions, since you have to look at the dial to know the torque, unlike most torque wrenches where you can just keep turning until they click.

Also interesting to note that mines came with two long 5mm bits instead of a T25 and a 5mm.

This wrench and bit set seem nice, easy to use, and well constructed. But the units I purchased have a sticky mechanism that moves in jumps and does not return to zero when relaxed. As a result, I can’t trust the calibration.

I presume this is not normal and the units are defective. I ordered one, and it had this problem. So I ordered another and it is even worse. I will be returning both and trying something different from another vendor.

A disturbing aspect of this as far as REI is concerned is that both units showed signs of having been opened before. In fact one was out of it’s original packaging with tool and bits in the case, which is not the way it is packaged when new.

The probability seems high that both had been sent to other customers, returned for being defective, then sent to me. Defective returns, unlike wrong sizes and such, should not be sent back out! I’ve been an REI customer for over 50 years and, if that is what happened, it is one of the worst things they’ve done to me.

Rather than piecemeal a kit together, I felt it made sense to get a complete tool kit right from the start. I looked at all the options and I ALMOST went with the blue brand. I decided to take a chance on this kit based upon reviews I found online.

I am very pleased with the quality and completeness of the kit. I’m fairly certain that any tool not included in this kit that I might need would have resulted in a trip to my bike shop anyway. This is not some junk kit.

It’s perfect for DIY cyclist who will actually use the tools more than a few times. Highly recommended. After a few months use I can say that I have only found one tool that I ever needed that wasn’t in the kit, a crown race remover.

Other than that I cant think of anything else you would need.

When I received the tool kit box I was immediately struck by the weight of it. I knew immediately it was going to be strong high quality metal tools. That was confirmed when I opened it. The tools are strong and high quality.

I was very impressed and I look forward to fixing my bikes and saving money by doing the work myself. I highly recommend it to anyone into cycling.

We are having a gas around the shop with this tool, discovering just how imprecise our supposedly “trained” hands are when it comes to hitting the manufacturers’ torque settings. It is not as handy as the ATD 1.

2 “T Handle” torque driver, but the setting range is much wider and the traditional socket-wrench style works better on higher-torque applications like crank-arm fixing bolts. Two things to note: first, to mount or remove a socket, you have to push a release button on the back of the head, just above the right-left ratchet toggle switch.

It’s not in the instructions. Second, unlike the ATD “T-Handle” series torque drivers that release with a definite “pop” and go limp, this wrench hits its torque setting with a gentle “ping”. If you are gorilla-wrenching it, you can miss the release and blow the setting.

Much more than the ATDs, which are the busy mechanic’s friend, this is a finesse tool that really can’t be hurried.

I have several torque wrenches which I have bought from H. F. in past twenty some years. Recently I have bought Icon’s 3/8 and 1/2 inch torque wrenches; they are excellent, well made and the case is great.

Few days ago, my low torques wrench (for bicycles) which I was using to torque the valve cover (12 Nm) broke and was over torquing the fasteners. I went to H. F. hoping to find a torque wrench on a low spectrum (i.

e. bicycle bolts lever – 9 Nm) and found the Quinn Digital Torque Wrench. I was surprised that it starts at 5 Nm, but was pricey. Being in a crunch, I have decided to pay the full price, BUT, once I started using it, I was blown away how easy, quick and accurate it was.

Ultimately I was able to go back to the store to get the price adjusted using father’s day coupon, but this tool is very impressive and I highly recommend it for any seasoned or beginner wrench-head.

In addition, H. F. send me an email with servicing information to have the tool periodically calibrated; a very nice follow up, thank you. I’m still going to keep the Icon torque wrenches, but all other are going for donations.

I have had the twist click type wrenches and my recommendation is pass. Eventually they go out of calibration or just break. I do have a dead click type no longer clicks so its a breaker bar. I have been using this tool a great deal and the fact it has multiple measurement scales is very handy.

The setting of the torque level is a little tricky as it goes very fast. The wrench times out the battery a bit fast, but at least the battery will last. Green beep beep and red steady tone are very useful when you can’t read the wrench.

On my trusty 40 year old craftsman beam wrench I have to put painter’s tape on the scale. I still use it for lugs because I don’t want my nice tool (this one) to go into the weather. Instead on this one you can lay on the torque and just listen for the steady tone.

A great example is putting a flex plate on an engine and having to keep the crank from rotating with a breaker bar. Even though you are spread out and could not read the scale (so you would have to put a breaker bar on a cheater on the floor – if you can.

) with this wrench you have an audible verification tone. It also recalibrates each time turned on. I did have to go recently above the 99 lb max torque and I bought an HF click type since I couldn’t read the scale on my beam type.

It maybe the first and last time I use the clicker but for its price – it did the 4 bolts needed and that was good enough for me. I will say that the click one was a bit stiff and I knew it was going over torque.

I set the scale to 3 lower settings which each clicked and then did the final torque and it clicked as expected. So loosen that cheapo up a bit first with staged torque applications.

I needed a torque wrench to go below 15in pounds, click type will not go that low or don’t show inch pounds on the wrench. I used this on spark plugs in aluminum heads, if you don’t get the torque right one could strip the threads out or break the plug off in the head.

I set this up hit the memory button and don’t have to worry about having to reset it every time I turn it on. It shuts off after 2 minutes. At low torque click type wrench’s offer no or low feed back, but this no matter where you set it it gives you a loud beep feed back at the proper torque setting.

JUST DONT DROP IT BE VERY CARFUL, because it will throw off the torque calibration. Buy it you won’t regret it.

Well built torque wrench compared to the lower cost competitors. The quality seems to be the same as my 40 year old torque wrench that finally broke.

It is a very nice torque wrench. It works well on small bolts. Which it is designed for. I manly used for valve cover bolts. And other small bolts that requires small torque.

Very nice & comfortable control, smooth & easy to change torque settings. Way better than others. Very good usage for small nuts and bolts. Now, I don’t have to worry about the tightness or breaking the nuts & bolts.

It seems to work ok. But no click at all. You have to be careful and not over tighten, because wrench only has slight movement in handle to let you know youve reached proper torque.
