20 Best Torch For Melting Ice (2023 Updated)

My husband and I scrap and salvage and he’s the one who uses the torch. The only issue is the rings on the inside it’s like they burn up or something very quickly. But a good cleaning and replace the rings and it works great.

Nice long hose so you don’t have to worry about pulling them over with your next step. The flow back adapters he found are good because he’s not used them before and will now. The overall quality on a 1-10 scale 1 being never again and 10 being that’s the only one we will buy I’d give it a 7 because of the rings and the high possibility of the torch catching fire.

Great cutting set for the money. Torch will cut 1/4 inch steel like a knife. Only things to watch out for is when assembling the torch make sure small pieces of brass dust from manufacturing are cleaned out where o rings seat.

You will need an adapter to hook your acetylene regulator to a bigger tank. Acetylene regulator is a left hand thread and tank is a right hand thread. Pick up at store where you get your tanks filled.

Did not find at Tractor Supply. Remember to get a leather apron and Hobart welding shirt at Tractor Supply. Great for the money and save you some serious burns when molten metal starts flying. Set comes with a decent set of cutting goggles.

This is not the mini torch kit. This is full size regulators, hoses, and handles. After destroying the package, I new they wouldn’t take it back. Modified the connections to make work on small bottles.

Finally ok with kit.

Does a good job, the main things I want out of a torch like this is that it will light easily and not blow outfor this. torch, just remember not to have the gas flow too strong or it occasionally blows out.

A light flow got the best performance out of this torch.

IšverstiShow in original languageMy son purchased the first one for me, it worked great the first time we used it, he didn’t keep any of the directions that came with it. The second time I tried using it, the flame would not come out by pushing the handle.

I took it back to Rural King and they gladly replaced it. When I unpacked the new one, I was surprised to see directions on how to correct the problem I was having. Save yourself time and aggravation and don’t let anyone throw your directions away, this works great.

IšverstiShow in original languageThe torch lights easily using the Striker that came with it and puts out a very large Flame. They wand is lightweight and not certain how durable it will be. I’m using it to burn weeds and tendrils from old vines, but it could be used for roofing or other torch on applications.

The construction of it doesn’t feel as solid as more expensive roofing torches, but it seems adequate. I answered yes to the questions about it being durable and well-designed, but I haven’t used it very long, and I don’t really like the placement of the lever.

IšverstiShow in original languageThe Burner is well made and fairly lightweight. It is an issue with the wind, and not much wind blowing it out. It is great with the flame burning all the time and the boost but having to light it with the striker is a little aggravating.

The torch works fine, but the picture shows the model with a handle-style valve that you squeeze to allow more gas through (like an oxy-acetylene torch). The model you get only has a knob valve that you turn to accomplish the same.

This means increasing or decreasing the intensity of the flame takes extra steps rather than the instant reaction you get from using a handle valve. You have to reach down with your other hand and turn a valve.

Not a huge deal, but I was disappointed when I got home to realize it wasn’t what I expected.

This works on old, dead weeds. But not newer larger green ones. Uses a fair amount of propane but nicer than picking them all. On first use the paint started peeling off the end of torch due to the heat generated.

Is harder to adjust the flame to get it just right.

This is not a tool I would have purchased but now that I have had the opportunity to use it, I wouldn’t want to not have one. Mag torch MT 5000 This is a great torch, I used it to burn weeds and grass in my driveway and other areas of my yard where weeds are a problem.

It is also useful in heating rusted bolts and nuts in ease of removing them. Care should be taken and never use it for this purpose around flammable areas. I burn firewood from my property and this torch will make it easier to burn brush piles in the early winter months.

Also it will be handy to melt ice.

This Olsen cutting torch cuts steel very well and has a clean cut, unscrew the top half of torch and screw on the proper Brazing and welding tip and you are good to go. This Olsen torch is made the same as Victor at a fraction of the cost, already compared it to a victor torch I already have, and it is made the same.

I even brought the Olsen torch to my local welding store, and they said it is exactly the same as a victor ( 300 ) series, right from the horses mouth of a professional welding store. I definitely recommend this torch, thank you for tour time.

Needed a larger handle and tip for thicker metal. I have a small victor which won’t take a large tip so I figured give this a try. Don’t use a lot of thicker metal so cheap is good. right. pleasantly surprised at how well it worked.

Every bit as good as the victors I’ve had. Get the tips while you are there, they work good too.

Very pleased. Received it quickly. Excellent quality. Got it last week and have used it several times. Cuts extremely well. Price was very good. I would recommend it and would purchase another. Like everything about it.

There are so many ways that this weed torch gets it right. The easy rolling propane bottle cart and the instant ignition lighter built into the torch. The torch can be set with the desired flame and the handle squeezed valve delivers a blistering blast to eradicate tough pasture weeds.

With the 5 gal propane tank full the cart is a bit wobbly, going over a real pasture. On smooth surface it’s golden. The hose is long enough to reach a decent radius of weed burning without relocating.

The cart beats carrying a full propane tank any day. But: the igniter assembly is too fragile. It popped out of the burner in the first hour, three times. There should be a dollop of high temp silicone to hold the insulator into the torch body or a swaged fit.

Otherwise the ceramic insulator on the piezo igniter tended to pull away and disconnect the igniter assembly and flame out resulted in no relight. I figured it out but I’m an electrical engineer. But, compared to the competition with a finicky rotary valve, many relighting adventures and no cart: this is the best solution out there.

Been burning weeds for over 20 years. This made it easy!.

The good: It works, the cart is sufficient to pull around the yard and the woods and the hose is long enough for my use. The bad: The flare connection leaks and I think it is the fitting as I tried to tighten it as instructed and then tried again with thread sealant on the threads only and it still leaks.

Where the line goes into the wand handle, it is plastic and over tightening will likely result in the whole handle being damaged and useless. The provided gas cylinder is very loose in the tank holder so I used pipe insulation to make it fit a little better.

Everything else worked as expected.

Built well and works great! In that regard I would give it a 5 Stars but based on the cost I just couldn’t rate it so high. In my opinion this system is not worth the purchase price unless you’re planning on using a 30 or 40-lb propane tank with it.

If that’s the case then it’s definitely worth the money.

This is a very good torch for jewelry making, Silver soldiering. You can melt your silver scraps down and use to pour cast,but takes some time to do so. You can soldier your Silver wire/plate. Be careful with the stock nozzle, 3/4 inch.

I keep mine turned no higher than about 3 turns on the propane valve and about a half turn to maybe one whole turn on the torch head valve. I’ve done 20 GA. Silver plate soldering,two plates on top each other and I’ve soldiered 10 ga.

Square wire. 10ga. X up to 6. 0 mm wide. That’s a pretty large piece for me. My. Butane torch would not do it. This torch? If I’m not careful this torch would definitely melt the Silver. The bad things I would say,.

The knob on the valve at the propane tank striped out after 4 or 5 uses. I fixed it myself, it was not completely tightened from the factory and let it pull out enough to make it start striping out so I’d check it just to be sure.

Also it Need a smaller nozzle than 3/4 inch. Even 5/8 inch would be a lot better. Also the hose is not like the one pictured it’s orange and mine is black an rigid, stiff not very flexible. It can be a hassle at times,I have to stop and straighten it out.

It could be a little longer to. For those reasons I took one star off of the review. Otherwise it would have been five star.

A very nice set, that comes with two very nice unadvertised bonuses. It comes with a nice carrying case, which if you remove the foam rubber, is large enough to hold everything needed to use it, except the gas cylinder.

It also comes with a base to hold the cylinder. The hose is too short to use if you’re standing and you want to leave the gas cylinder on the floor, and the base doesn’t weigh enough to keep the cylinder in one place while operating the torch with its stiff hose.

These main inconveniences are likely to come with any set up of its kind so they were not unexpected. The torch worked flawlessly, and even though it probably is not recommended, I used it with MAP gas when I wanted a hotter flame.

Needed to solder 3/4 inch copper pipes for a new hot water heater. This kit has both a powerful torch, as well as two other fittings, one which fits around 1/2 inch copper pipes (Might do a 3/4 tube but seemed to bind on mine) to give a great heat source to solder the joint.

The long gas tube allowed moving the torch relatively more freely. Only problem was the propane tubing is somewhat stiff. meaning not only is it somewhat difficult to pinpoint the flame around the circle of the copper pipe, but the bottle of propane at the end can fall over or add resistance to movement of the torch.

In my application I used only the torch to sweat the 3/4 inch copper pipes.

I thoroughly enjoyed using this torch. I noticed one of the customers said it wouldn’t connect to a standard propane tank. I suspect they were trying to connect turning the connector clockwise rather than counter clockwise.

If you follow the directions provided it works like a charm. Cleared out a gravel driveway and the seams in my sidewalk lickety split. Well made easy to use.

Well made tool. Comes with lighter and is easy to light. Hose is sufficient length to work in an area without moving the heavy tank every step. Valve works well to increase/decrease gas flow. Burning soil is a somewhat natural process, and much better than spraying chemicals that persist.

I bought this a month ago and have used it twice so far. The striker was difficult to use from the get-go and quit working after the first day. Now I have resort to less safe ways of lighting the fuel.

The shaft of the torch is uncomfortable hold after a while, given that there is not handle. Otherwise, it works well.

This package comes with all the necessary attachments to use these torches. The design was different from anything else on line and the look really stands out. I am hoping that their looks hold up to long term use outside.

If you are one of those people who wants to have the best, these are the best. They might cost more. They might burn more fuel, faster. Totally worth it. They light up the back yard and it looks amazing.

Love this product. Purchased two. We made sure we secured them carefully with the proper base. We had a tropical themed baby shower. They were perfect for welcoming guests at our front gate entrance.

Really was pleased with these Tiki Torches. They worked quickly and stood up to the wind. We had 6 framing the walkway when my husband arrived to his surprise luau birthday party. The tops keep them relatively dry and I am confident we will use them over and over.

Better than expected. Very good quality and will go well with my outdoor rustic themed landscaping. Poles are heavy and do not bend if putting into ground. The table holders they come with are very nice.

They are a wonderful addition to our backyard oasis.

Burns cleanly, not smelly or smoky. Seems to help keep control of gnats but that relates more to the fluid you put in the torch. Like the color and look better than the wood torches.
