Well I just received my 40lb bag of soil, only it was 28lbs, old, dried out and basically just bad. I wouldn’t bother buying from this seller unless they assure you it hasn’t been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for months drying up.

Clearly there was 12lbs of moisture and nutrients that were missing because of whatever happened to the bag. That doesn’t happen over night or in transit.

Wow im so disappointed i have used this for years and now 2021 it is nothing more then mulch. What happened? This used to be the best i always recommended now its a waste of money. Its more expensive but way less quality wish i would have known before i bought my yearly supply.

The best potting soil I have ever purchased. I love putting my hands in this dark, rich soil. Some potting soils contain large wood chips and even rocks. You’re not going to find those types of fillers in this product.

This soil worked perfectly for my raised bed tomato garden. The soil looked clean and felt to be the right consistency, it wasn’t too clumpy or too dry. So far my plants are thriving. This is a very convenient way to fill my raised beds with good quality soil.

Living in New Jersey our planting season begins in early May. This year I introduced the raised bed mix into my raised garden. ]I have have followed a similar planting pattern for years, and looked for results in comparison to prior years.

This soil mix is perfect for raised beds as well as indoor plantings. Since it was still cool out when I got this soil I used it first to transplant several houseplants that were stressed from workout soil and pot bound.

The plants seemed to improve and got healthier looking within days and continue to look great. I have since planted a couple of cold weather vegetable boxes and they also are doing great with this mix.

I was very impressed by this soil. I normally mix topsoil with compost, potting soil, seaweed and various other ingredients to create my raised bed mix. Living on the rocky coast of Maine, I have to supply the soil if I want to grow anything.

I have looked at the ready-made versions at the big box stores, and they were rubbish. I purchased a few bags of this to top dress beds and was so happy that I just bought more. I can’t do any better and the cost was similar to buying all the ingredients separately.

Not what I bargained for when it was the only choice my farm/fleet type store offered when they 86’d “The Other Potting Soil” from their inventory, no reason given, thank you very much! Miracle-Gro Raised Bed Soil is amazing! I have had it for 2-weeks and I’m just a short amount of time, I am already seeing a difference with the growth of the plants. I am not sure why I or how it happens so fast but it did.

So, as soon as I received the soil, I removed the soil that was in raised bed and placed the Miracle-Gro brand soil in there. Before, the tomato plant that I have in there was dying and now, it is coming back to life.

I am still learning when it comes to plants but I had no idea that the soil makes such a difference. This bag is 1. 5 CU FT and was very heavy. It brought a lot to cover a small portion of my raised planter bed.

The plant before the Miracle-Gro soil was looking sad, dying and stopped producing. Now that it has the Miracle-Gro soil, it started growing once again, it looks happy, it also has a bunch of tomatoes.

This is going to be the soil that I will purchase from here on out and I plan to replace all of my other plants with the Miracle-Gro soil. I highly recommend this soil to anyone trying to grow their plants.

This review is for the Miracle-Gro Raised Bed Soil, 1. 5 cu. ft. I needed some new soil so I could repot some of my old plant. Yes, I do know that it says to not use this soil for potted plants, but I did it anyway and I have to say my potted plants are thriving with this soil.

This soil is more dense than regular potting soil so just make sure to have a few really good drainage holes on the bottom of the pots, but other than that it does the job just fine for potted plants.

If you’re using it for a raised garden you will most likely need 2 to 4 bags depending on the size of your garden. I like that this is 100% organic soil. I am still feeling out whether our not I will have any pest issues using this soil, because many I have used in the past have seemed to attract flying pests that eat away at my leaves, but only time will tell.

As usual Miracle-Gro has not let me down. I highly recommend this for garden and potting needs and will be buying this again when I need to repot.

I’m so tired of this company. I ordered 3 bags of the “100% organic raised bed potting soil” and keep pulling out glass shards, metal shards and plastic sheet/mesh. How can you call yourself organic? How is this allowed? Are y’all getting your soil from a junk yard and slapping organic onto it? I called the customer service yesterday and the first lady I talked to tried to gaslight me by saying “oh that not in our soil that had to be from the outside of the bag from where it was stored.

” EXCUSE ME??? No ma’am. I’ve been pulling SHARDS and TRASH out of the soil since I started pouring it inside my raised garden bed. Ridiculous. My 2. 5 year old wants to help me garden but at this rate it’s almost a safety hazard.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. will never buy miracle grow ANYTHING, and telling everyone to stay far, far away. Yikes. This picture is glass and metal that came up when I harvested my radishes. Wish I collected everything I’ve ever picked out to show how abundant TRASH is in their “organic” soil.

Ruined my tomatoes. Oh, they grew like crazy and had a ton of fruit. But as the tomatoes started to turn red EVERY ONE had blossom rot due to an inadequacy of minerals in the soil. Oh and this company claims they back their product.

This is only true if you keep the receipt and UPC code from the bag. I naturally trusted what I was buying…with a photo of flowers and vegetables…including a tomato on the bag was formulated correctly.

Bought 4 bags of this “soil”. Read numerous reviews about the debris so wasn’t surprised about the sticks, plastic and was lucky not to find other things. What did surprise me was the infestation of gnats? spiders? mites? small creamy white bugs.

Didn’t really notice them until I had done some planting and disturbed them. The soil was teeming with them so all 4 bags must of been infested. Luckily I used it only in one garden. Now have to try and get rid of them.

Unless you have a sure way of getting rid of these creatures I won’t recommend this product. Quite surprised at the over all poor quality of the “soil” to be associated with Miracle Gro. We assumed that a well-know company would pay better attention to quality.

I must stress that all the bags came from a brand-new skid – it still had the plastic wrap on it when I bought it.

I a have been noticing the quality of potting Soil Mixed for the past 5 years. Night price but low quality. There aren’t much real dirts but mostly finer much or grinned plants, trees and you can name it all.

I live I’m Austin Texas. When using all these grinned trees or barks they are baits for termites in a couple of months. Bring more termites to my property. When you dig up dirts in most ground in Texas, you can expect great amount of clay and limestone kind of dirt.

Not good for gardening at all. Spent quite a bit of money buy Miracles Soil or potting mixed but really I am pretty paying for grind trees and shrub. The big bag cost around $15. So not worthy. Please bring back your good quality of dirts if we have to spend $ on dirts.

This Whitney Farms Organic Raised Bed Mix for plants and vegetables is really a great choice for potting mix. We used this for our vegetables, tomatoes, and a few tropical plants that needed some extra soil added and they all seem to like it really well! It’s also a huge bonus that it’s organic, which is great for home growing fruits and veggies! This bag was a little over 50 lbs and we were able to use it very generously across many of our plants and veggies! The mix seems to go pretty far when used.

The bag was a standard potting soil bag and was well made and didn’t seem to have any issues tearing open or leaking soil. The potting mix was easy to open and use. The quality of the soil seems to be very high and we were extremely satisfied with the high quality of it.

Our plants all responded well to this soil as well. This seems to have many good nutrients such as tree mulch, kelp and alfalfa meal, poultry meal and peat moss, which is a huge bonus! Overall we are very happy with this potting mix and we will definitely be using it again after we run out! I would definitely recommend this item to others.

I’ve always had good results when planting with Scott’s miracle grow, in fact the best results. Just follow instructions and your climate guides for planting. There are some generic brands out there, I’ve had best results with spending that little extra on Scott’s.

Lots of variety mixes available for vegetables, flowers, and other specific gardening needs. I certainly wouldn’t sow my poppies into anything that’s not mixed with Scott’s planting soil. Highly recommend.

Of course starting your own composting pile at home is best for the environment, still doesn’t hurt to mix in a little scotts.

I have a very extensive collection of plants with many being cacti and succulents. I take a lot of pride in my plants and want to give them the best soil. Miracle grow soil is the best that you can buy that is premixed.

It’s perfect for holding just the right amount of moisture for the right amount of time. Cacti and succulents like water but they like big drinks every do often and that’s it. Then they need to be dry.

They don’t do well in soil that stays moist. So this is perfect for that and it’s the only kind I buy.

This potting mix is actually the only potting soil that I purchase. It allows plants to grow full and you will notice a difference within approximately 5 days after re-potting. It also allows plants to produce some of the most vibrant blooms!! Sorry, but I have not had the time to open it yet. As it sits on my kitchen floor my cat makes good use of it as a stool. Since it is right near the side entrance he likes going out of, he has taken a liking to this package just as it is.

I am in the midst of moving and it has been quite disturbing. Therefore this has taken second priority for now. Although I am sure it will be put to good use. Now I find I have soil and plants, but not enough pots.

As I plan on taking the flowers that I ordered from seeds from your company.

This soil was recommended for use with microgreens, but it’s much too coarse to get optimal results. I even tested it against an OMRI listed seed starting mix and there was definitely a difference in yield.

However, it works great in pots, and produces new growth when used for transplanting.

This is my first review but it was delayed only because I have been busy building my outside patio garden this summer. Thanks to Epic Garden and True Leaf Market not only have I successfully grown tomatoes but also squash, herbs, beans, and tried new items such as ginger (wow) and cucamelons.

I bought 4 bags of Nature’s Care from Home Depot. It is labeled as organic, so I didn’t think anything of the purchase. Cut to a couple of months later when I’m growing my potatoes in grow bags with this soil and there are little holes in all the leaves.

Look it up and see it is from flea beetles. a bug that lives in the soil. I was pretty confused since these are in grow bags in a gravel bed. How could the soil have become infected?!? Cut to weeks later, I check on my potatoes and find glass bits and plastic bits on top of the soil.

I think, how strange. did an animal bring something into the soil. Did this debris blow in here? And I forget about it. Then a couple of months later as I’m digging out potatoes and find plastic bits and glass all throughout the soil.

Top to bottom. It finally dawns on me that the plastic bits and broken glass came in the soil. I checked the half bag I have left and sure enough. plastic bits and glass bits. I went online to see if anyone else was reporting this issue and sure enough there are review after review about the problem.

Then I read some reviews online where people find Japanese beetle larvae in their new soil bags. OMG. Now I realized, the flea beetles which are soil based bug came in the soil. How is this garbage marked organic!!!!???!??!? Buyer beware.

While looking for an organic lighter mixture soil that permitted aeration, I was recommended this soil by a worker at Lowes. Normally you get what you pay for and this case was no different. It was the costliest in the store and it appears my seeds loved them.

I have tried other brands and even a few other varieties of Miracle-Gro, but this soil worked nearly as well as those special variety soils that would cost 80 to 100 dollars for 1 cubic ft. It has a surprisingly light texture, yet solid enough for planting seedlings.

I’m a hemp farmer and this product reduced operational costs by allowing us to water less thanks to compost makeup. While it does have very few small pieces of a certain bark which hemp seeds generally don’t like, we noticed faster germination and stronger stem growth.

Horrendous , full of gnats , plastic , scraps, rocks and unidentifiable garbage that they want you to grow food with? I’m so disappointed. During covid there weren’t many options and the only place I could get to had this in stock.

I’ve stayed clear of all MG soil for many years because of these issues. I was desperate and the gentleman at the store assured me that the MG that I had purchased years ago at a big box Home Depot etc stores get very different shipments in of MG ( different serial #’s etc).

He stated that it’s more of a mass produced soil that they carry and that the small mom and pop shops ( true value etc) get better batches. Nope and nope. I never leave reviews but I’m about to leave this one here and also one for the raised bed soil that was just as nasty as this and when I called to complain they stated that NO ONE has EVER complained about miracle gro before that they know of.

And they gave me the option to return the bags. I had like 15 bags delivered to me ! Really? I took the loss and tried to dry it out and mix in stuff to make it fluffier and filter out the garbage but I just could not use it to grow food.

I mostly ended up throwing it all into a weed bed on the side of the house and around a tree in driveway PS THIS is a review for both the organic potting soil AND the raised bed soil. Both had gnats, shredded pieces of plastic , HUGE rocks ( in raised bed soil) , and random solid plastic shards- ALONG with toms of wood mulch!?.

i have no idea how they sell their potting soil as such, it’s so wet and heavy and has nothing but garbage in it!.

I’ve purchased myltiple bags of this product every year for my garden and house plants. Up until this year, I’ve been very satisfied with my purchases. This year I also purchased several bags for my garden and house plants, but have been extremely disappointed.

Inside the “soil” I’ve found strips of plastic and other non-organic materials. All of the seedlings that I up-potted into Burpee Organic Potting Soil have become sick, the leaves turning yellow, and some dying completely.

I have never had this problem before, and I’ve been gardening for over 6 years with this product. There were also large chunks of what I assume to be compacted manure inside the bags. Usually the soil is well mixed, light, and fluffy – but this year there seems to be extra coco coir along with these large chunks of manure.

Tldr; I’ve loved this product for years but don’t recommend it any longer.

I have bought this product many times before for my planting needs and have always been satisfied with the quality and results. I purchased a bag over the weekend to transplant my tomato and pepper seedlings.

I knew something was different when I opened the bag. It was overly moist, almost wet, and smelled of overpowering, raw manure. Within 2 days of transplanting, my beautiful, healthy green vegetable seedling had turned yellow and the leaves curled before dropping.

Definite fertilizer burn. I lost over half of my plants, and the others, at this point, are debatable as if they will survive. Extremely disappointed with this product. I will not purchase again.

While screening this mix to make my soil blocks, I found a lot of trash: bits of plastic shopping bags, shreds of what I think is mylar, shards of hard plastic, a plastic bottle cap, and broken glass.

After screening about a quarter of the bag, I found enough bits of garbage to fill an 8 ounce measuring cup. I grow and sell food. My customers trust my cleanliness and integrity. I can’t possibly grow produce in this mystery mix.

I’m returning all the unopened bags at once. I wouldn’t want to eat anything grown in this. Would you?.

I needed some good soil for my sad garden. Read these reviews and raced to Ace to pick up three bags. Got them home, dumped them out, and the “soil” looks no different from what I could get at half the price from big box stores.

It seems mostly to be mulch; hardly anything resembling actual soil. I hate buying stuff in plastic bags where you can’t actually see what you’re buying.

This is not even topsoil and left my lawn littered with rocks. I bought this when Ace ran out of my normal topsoil. Usually I trust their brand, but they should pull this product from the shelves immediately.

It was very clumpy coming out of the bag, and when I broke it up I found that the clumps were *dirt-caked gravel*. There was also a high mulch content and patches of pure sand that is no better than the clay soil I’m amending.

Getting my money back wouldn’t make us even. I’m going to have to go back through my yard and remove the gravel left behind. Absolute catastrophe.

This is Not dirt to fill or plant grass seed. It was wet. I dried it enought to “spread” it. It hardened so hard no seed comes up, I had to break it up, and now I’m going to the nursery to get dirt the right way.

All these bagged products are the worst ever. Get dirt from your local nursery delivered and use a wheel barrel.

We bought this because our local Ace here in GA did not have what we normally buy in stock; Cowart-brand premium top soil. This stuff had a lot more bark-type mulch material in it than the Cowart does, and incidentally was almost twice as expensive.

The Cowart is obviously a higher quality top soil, and the lower price is a bonus, so we’ll be sticking with it from now on.

This is great top soil. Took out a bunch of pavers/stones and replaced it grass. Area was bumpy and this was easy to dump out of the bag, spread, and level. No clumps of foreign material. Had enough sand in the mixture so it did not compact a lot.

Lots of natural materials. I like this product because it does not contain fertilizer. I live near a stream so the lack of fertilizer is environmentally friendly. Perfect! The grass liked it also. Grass was growing in 4 days!.

Great product that I needed. I don’t see any problems with this soil. Going back to get more.
