A little trick I learnt, thus speeding the process of making it, is to boil milk on high until ‘just’ before it reaches boil. It’s a bit like when your in a car and you need to hear the clutch to then move the accelerator – you hear the milk girggle and start to rise.

Then, quickly take off boil before it rises, stir into your paste, and it will instantly thicken for you. Success. And it takes about 5 or 6 minutes! Seriously, that is pretty good in my book, for lovely tasting custard!.

Ok. I’ll admit it: defeat. I have had Birds Custard Powder in my life for 63 years, and I have tried for the last 50 or so to make custard with this impossible concoction of evil powder. I have always loved this product and have purchased it regularly over the years. It is useful to have in the store cupboard and I can make as little or as much as I need, and can use semi skimmed milk with no loss of flavour.

I find this custard powder more economical than tinned custard. I often use brown sugar rather than white and this gives additional flavour to the finished custard.

I like this icing. Needed the icing to set up quickly so we could transport easily. This sets up in about 15 minutes, getting progressively harder as you wait. You cut the tip to whatever thickness you want.

For children I would cut the tip at the second line so it is easier for them to squeeze out the frosting. Have them practice on a piece of plastic wrap first. It’s a beautiful vibrant red color. Can be used for string work, but work quickly.

Tried this product for the first time. Glad I bought the 6 pack. Tastes great by itself. Might experiment with it by adding cooked rice. Also will try adding Vanilla Syrup too. In any case, I loed the flavor and texture.

Simply a lighter version of the original custard. I think a lot of people are put off by the taste of “light” products – perhaps justifiably because many of them have a certain taste or none really at all – but this product isn’t bad.

Certainly, if one wants or needs to pay attention to their calorie intake but would also like the occasional treat, I don’t think that this product is a bad choice. It is effectively the same as the original, only not as sweet.

Even better, it is already portioned out for those of us who find it difficult to do so for ourselves. I was VERY surprised to see that these contained palm oil in them, though. Palm oil, really?! I hope that this will be replaced with something else or that sustainable sources will be sought.

I love Devon custard cold. I tried it warmed up with a banana, very quick and tasty desert. Sometimes I wish it was a bit thicker, but it’s no big deal. I’m sure it used to be. A good purchase especially if some one in the family has an egg allergy.

It’s sweet and easy to put on ice cream. Consistency is a little runny and can get messy if you are not careful. I like my caramel a lot thicker and a more complex flavor profile, but this one seemed like it was simply high fructose corn syrup which I did not like.

My kids didn’t really care for it either, but the neighbor kid loved it. I think it probably comes down to what you are used to eating. If you are an old fashioned, homemade caramel lover, then this one is probably not for you.

It tastes great and its easy to use. I have used this all three of these flavors for coffee, desserts, and fruit dipping. I also have some of smuckers other flavors as well. I love this line from them all the flavors are yummy and mess free.

Great caramel sauce. Good topping for ice cream or can be used in coffee. Its thick. I’ve never tried microwaving it. But I’m guessing that warming it up will make it easier to squeeze out of the bottle.

For a change, I decided to make my own custard instead of being lazy and buying ready made. The instructions were very easy to follow, you just need to add milk and sugar. I prepared mine in the microwave, but you can use the good old-fashioned saucepan on the hob too.

So I was skeptic and decided to try this mix. I used 1/3 cup of butter instead of coconut oil and let sit out for about 10 minutes before divi onto baking sheet. Using 1 tablespoon I divided the dough, rolled into balls and lightly pressed down to flatten just a smidge.

Too flat gives you burnt and dried out cookies. I used parchment paper to line and only baked for 10 minutes. Puked out of oven and let sit for 2 minutes on pan and then carefully transferred onto cooling rack.

Let cool and the cookies are soft, not burnt and are okay to taste. I don’t care for the chocolate chips as Lilys chips would probably make these much better.

I made these for a family member who cannot have all the sugar in a regular cookie, but still wanted to have an occasional treat. I’ll admit the package is a bit pricey but they were super easy to bake and tasted delicious! I would purchase them again if the need ever arose.

You need almond milk and coconut oil to make these and since the batter isn’t as smooth as a regular cookie dough, I used a melon baller so each cookie was the same size and that helped a lot! You could even add a little cinnamon to the dough prior to baking for a different flavor but overall, these were pretty darn tasty.

Now, this just whole foods vegan custard powder is amazing, in terms of having a vegan product that one can make whenever they need to make it, instead of wasting, a whole vegan custard, it is just to be able to take a portion and have what one needs, this is why I initially brought this item and it was as well as it is, amazing, but for my situation health wise, I need to use a smaller amount as I find the custard a little bit thick for my digestive system, but this can be easily fixed, with reducing the amount of powder, and whisking the custard, when making the custard so it does not turn out lumpy but smooth.

Also, I think the custard is a good price and I think it is very good it is vegan friendly so people with various dietary needs can have a nice indulgent dessert too. Lastly, I thank Asda for their timely service to me, and for their professionalism when I came to get my click and collect shopping.

Moreover, I gave this product a four stars out of five, cause, of the lumpy bits that may happen in the custard, however it is not a major complaint and this is easily managed or fixed, it is worth the money and I will definitely invest in it again, me personally I don’t particularly like vanilla custard, so I made it more fun by buying a vegan chocolate dessert and making the custard more chocolate flavour, to be more nicer for me.

My taste for both salt and sugar has increased for some reason or other, this means I struggle with products like custard, every other type you can buy be it ready-made or powder form has either sugar or salt added to the recipe.

When I use custard it is to try and reduce the sugary flavour of baked products, there are still a few I can eat if I can have custard (sadly drowning it in cream is no longer an option as I seem to be more sensitive to fat now, darn).

But as I need to reduce sugar flavour I need a custard that has both no sugar or salt which can enhance the flour I am trying to reduce. I thought it was the end of eating baked products until I found this.

It is marvellous, if I want a sweet baked treat (gluten0free of course being a coeliac) I ca make this custard without any sugar added. If I just feel like a little custard I can add a little bit of sugar.

It is also easy to make in the microwave. This truly is the holy grail of custard and I hope ASDA keeps stocking it online and that they never add sugar or salt to the recipe.

Vegan or not this is by far the BEST custard powder you will ever have. I chanced upon it and it is the only one i use. Smooth creamy texture – the way custard should be. I make it with full cream milk – superb.

Love just wholefoods products in general. We are not vegan’s in our house but the products speak for themselves.
