20 Best Tooth Brush For Dogs (2023 Updated)

I have two doggos, one 27lbs and the other 18lbs, both hates teeth brushing. It is a struggle every time. I’ve tried different sizes and types of toothbrushes, dental wipes and even different types of finger brushes.

Even tried using a gauze wrapped around my finger to wipe down their teeth. All were huge fails. Gave this a try and it actually works!!! The doggos still avoid this brush but bc of the bristles on both sides, even with all their head movements I’m still able to brush their teeth.

And bc of the softer material, I actually have a really good control of the brushing movement. At the same time, the bristles are stiff enough, but not to stiff, to keep the toothpaste and give a really good brushing of their teeth.

I know some review says this finger brush is too big for small dogs, I think it really is the shape of the dog’s mouth. Works great for me and my two smallish doggos. I will definitely continue buying this finger brush and highly recommend.

Hopefully it doesn’t get discontinued. Also, as an added bonus, I love the cases for storing the finger brushes. So when not in use, it is kept clean and not easily misplaced.

I have tried so many toothbrushes for my dogs over the years. This particular one was recommended by Chewy and this turns out to be THE one for me and my dogs. The fingertip brush is well sized and stays on.

Because the nubs of the brush surround the entire brush, no matter the angle of your finger in dog’s mouth, you can brush the teeth and gums. The nubs are fairly soft but seem perfect to brush both teeth and gums.

All said, the real review is from my two dogs. They now expect their brushing to happen and position for it. When I’m brushing the back teeth, they lean back obviously enjoying the massage. I do use a chicken flavored enzymatic toothpaste also but it’s this brush that has made tooth care enjoyable.

These finger brushes fit your finger like a glove as long as you don’t have sausage fingers! The soft, flexible nubs go all the way around which makes it super easy to spread the toothpaste to all the teeth.

My old finger brush only had nubs on one side and although it was small, it is bulky compared to these. You can really reach back easily to the back teeth and the dogs just love the nice gum massage.

We have 5 little dogs ranging from 8-20lb. This brush is loved by each of them, even our JRT who has recently lost a few teeth. I am so happy to have found these. Also love the individual cases for each brush.

Hi :0 I used the finger toothbrushes to begin with and then ordered this one. This is a much better brush as you can actually reach those difficult back teeth and the back sides of teeth. It is also really nice to have a large and small head for the tiny front teeth and bigger canines.

This toothbrush is great for my two girls, one side for the smaller one & the larger side for the other one.

Love this toothbrush. It’s easy to work with. My furry girl doesn’t like to have her teeth brushed, but tolerates it. The longer brush helps make it an easier task.

My dogs like the product, but it is super expensive. I go through one tube of toothpaste nearly every week on my two dogs. Hard to believe this product is much more expensive than human toothpaste, and the main ingredient is basically a sweetener (sorbitol).

The third ingredient is water (eau) – Why so expensive if the main ingredients are a sweetener and water? Sentry is gouging on this product. The small tube is nearly $5 per tube, and the medium size tube (6.

2 oz) is nearly $10. Even Crest contains sorbitol, but Crest is 1/3 to 1/4 the cost for the same size toothpaste. Unfortunately you cannot use human toothpaste on dogs. Shame on Sentry for charging so much for enzymatic sweet water.

My 13 yo hates having her teeth brushed and always has. I have tried SO many different toothpaste brands and flavors, hoping that she wouldn’t hate me quite so much for the process. My sister uses this brand for her cats, so I thought I’d give it a try – what a difference! That old dog breath is almost completely cleared up after 3 days and she was licking the toothpaste off the brush last night! Will be sticking with this one for the foreseeable future!.

Kip is a 4yr old yorkie that already has a history of dental disease. We began brushing after getting his teeth professionally cleaned at the vet. We started with the “breath fresh” toothpaste by this same brand- Though he enjoyed the taste, we noticed new tartar buildup despite regular brushing.

We then got this “tartar control” product and here is my review: Pros- I noticed a difference in the tartar on his teeth almost immediately. It is magical. I will continue to use this product for that reason alone.

Cons- The smell is the reason I’m giving 4 stars as opposed to 5. Kip used to lick the toothbrush clean when we used the “breath fresh” vanilla toothpaste. He does NOT like the taste of the beef flavor and it leaves his breath smelling very dog-like (aka, not great).

I wish they would create a tartar control toothpaste in the vanilla flavor. Otherwise, this product does exactly what it claims to do.

This is a great product! Picked this up for my first puppy. She loves the flavor! Her teeth are white and she never has bad breath. We’ve been using this kit for over a year now. Never had an issue with the brush breaking or the tube leaking.

My Goldendoodle is white and the charcoal does not stain her beard. Easy to wipe off or she just cleans it off herself. ProTip: use the finger brush for back of teeth. Did not realize this when first starting and she built up some tarter behind her front teeth.

But the more we use the little finger brush, its going away.

This is going to sound fake, but I’m in disbelief how quickly I saw a change. I’ve had the toothbrush and toothpaste for about two weeks. My dogs ear infection lead me to think he had a bad tooth, which lead to this purchase.

I didn’t see and red flags in his mouth, slight inflammation and 1 rear tooth on each side had some plaque. 2 weeks later, all my dogs teeth are whiter, less plaque every brush and inflammation is gone already on one side, almost gone on the other.

My eldest dogs teeth have been neglected other than brushing with each groom. After two brushes, just two, less bad breath and no bleeding gums! Buy this set and take care of your fur babies teeth! FYI, we did treat my dogs ear infection, he’s good 😉.

Doggy toothbrush designed so that they are the correct size for dog’s teeth line. The smaller brush is good for the smaller teeth and the long handle ensures that you don’t put too much pressure on the gums.

The brush is relatively soft too so as not to cause any damage. 3 colours so multiple dog households can maintain good hygiene. Good price too.

Good to have the option of big brush and little brush. I use the little one in my Parson Russell’s small mouth, but I might just try the big one to cover more of her teeth once I get her used to the brushing.

Can’t tell you just how amazing these toothbrushes are. They’re toothbrushes. For dogs. If your dog will put up with having their teeth cleaned I can’t recommend these enough. You can squirt a bit of paste onto the ends and hey presto you’re away.

Or the dog is. That’s usually what happens in my case as she’s not that keen. She likes to eat the paste, but doesn’t like the brushing. Still, she hasn’t yet managed to chew through these, yet. Unlike some other brands that were finished in one session.

And if she does, we’ve plenty of back up. Yay.

This is great brush my dog loves it. My dog can’t tolerate any hard thing in he’s mouth but CET Pet Toothbrush I soft and gentle. It has kept my dog’s teeth clean and it last a long time.

This brush is perfect for smaller dogs. My Maltese is 7 lbs. and it’s the perfect size for her!

I have 2 large dogs and I foster dogs. Having extra toothbrushes helps for when I need to brush my Foster’s teeth too. I brush weekly – easy to keep up with that way. I start off using the thimble brushes or my finger oreven these if the dog will accept.

I use the Petrodex enzymatic toothpaste and all of my dogs love the taste. The ones that are nervous at first I let them watch me with the others and let them lick a little off the brush and gradually little by little you’ll be brushing.

I bought bamboo ones before and the dogs really wanted to chew them more. Also the heads were wider somharder to slide into their mouths.

I got these brushes because of the price and was pleased to discover that they were much softer than others I have bought. I wanted a big package, because I have two small Westies, and like to run brushes through dishwasher after each use.

I was especially impressed by the excellent customer service. I had a concern about my order and the company got back to me in less than a day, and was extremely helpful. i will purchase from this company again in the future.

I love the variety of the toothbrushes in this pack! This is very affordable for the quality. I am glad I chose this over the $20 single toothbrushes from other sellers. My dogs do better with the silicone finger brushes.

They stay calm and I even think they enjoy getting their teeth cleaned now (: we don’t brush with toothpaste just the brushes bc the cons of my doggies swallowing the toothpaste outweigh the pros by far.

The silicone brushes make it so easy to brush this way. Expect delays on the delivery too. Of course delays are no problem for me since I know we are on the middle of a pandemic and I completely understand.

Hilariously, my dog absolutely adores this toothpaste (which is a ridiculously odd thing to think, let alone write down). I get the vanilla flavour, because I actually want to freshen his breath, rather than amplify the aroma of pureed meat, so I was doubly amazed he’d into it at all.

I think it works well for him. He’s a large dog, so we go through alot, but his kisses are much more enjoyable for like 40 seconds after brushing (until he eats something else). Now I’m not sure how much actual brushing gets done these days since he figured out that he can enjoy the taste and avoid the irritation of having his teeth brushed by licking it off the brush before I even get it in his mouth.

Such is life I suppose!.

Can use both size in my little dog. Small one to get used to and large works on an other medium size dog that would work well on a large dog too. Larger side can work well inside to get as much area in 3 good swipes faster.

They do get used to it and get a dental treat after which makes them more cooperative in time. They were not crazy about the tooth paste at first, but got used to it. They CANNOT use people toothpaste.

I have used a very small amount of Arm and Hammer soda at times, but check with your VET first. I have brushed their teeth also without toothpaste to get them used to it. In time they will get used to the brushing and you can pick off any plaque with your finger nail if your dog will let you.

If they get frustrated with this process, start out short brushing followed by a small treat. This is just one more way to keep the health of your dog when everything counts to keep them as long as possible with you.

My boy literally eats anything and everything from any type of food to bugs and dryer lint. I never found a single thing he wouldn’t touch until now. I even throw his pills directly into his dish and he eats them up without even having to hide them.

When I offered him this toothpaste he simply just sniffed it and turned his head away. I put a tab on his toothbrush and had him try some that way and he seemed disgusted to say the least. So I decided to try just the tiniest dab to see exactly what the fuss was about because this just is not like him and I was absolutely disgusted myself.

He has had several different brands and flavors of dog friendly toothpaste before with no issues. I would not reccomend this product at all!.

I have only brushed my dog’s teeth a handful of times with this brush so far but each time I have, the brush almost seems like it will break. I have a very large dog and he does not like having his teeth brushed very much so he will try to bite down.

Each time he does I’m afraid the brush will snap. The bristles on the brush are a little harder than I would like to use, but the size of it for a large breed is good.

This toothpaste is enzyme-based, so it keeps working after you stop brushing. Honestly, expect a little pink on the brush—your dog probably hasn’t been brushed so those gums won’t be used to the brushing.

Another big factor of the success of this toothpaste and tooth brushing is the cooperation and temperament of your dog. If your pooch is touchy about her mouth or tries to attack the brush, just get an enzyme wash and call it.

Not worth getting bitten or jabbing your dog painfully in the gums. My experience is to kinda follow the directions on the package. Focus on the base of the tooth where tartar and plaque build up and brush the back of the teeth as well.

Speak very happily and praise your dog liberally, then give them a bone or chewy toy to keep them from immediately taking a drink and washing away the paste. I use this two or three times a week.

] I appreciate that the kit comes with a regular brush + a finger brush: you have options to see what your cat prefers (tolerates) most. I switch back and forth between the two and think Mako is less affronted by the finger brush.

He does not enjoy the toothpaste at all; it gets in his whiskers whenever I try using it, as he quickly turns away when it hovers within an inch of his mouth. After using the brushes without the paste for a couple of months, I believe they are useful, but I’m not convinced that it is practical to expect yourself to jam stuff in a cat’s mouth on the reg as part of any enjoyable routine.

The smell is kind of off putting. I’ve smelled better pet tooth paste that was more appealing to pets. However, my cat is willing to let me brush his teeth with some bribery. I’ve used my finger like it says for first time brushers, (it came with a tooth brush and finger cap) and noticed i could feel some of the plague coming off his teeth as I was brushing.

He doesn’t drool as much anymore either so this is really helping. The finger cap it came with is a bit big for a cats mouth so id prefer my finger over it. The flavour I got was tuna, but it doesn’t really smell like that.

I brush my dogs’ teeth regularly – so much better than taking them to the vet, getting knocked out, then me left with a big bill. This toothbrush is easier, IMO, to accomplish the job than others, mainly because of the angled head.

I have 2 dogs, so use one end for each. Any toothbrush gets stiff after being used, so I just soften the ends up with water and run my thumb over it before each use. I like the tapered heads as well, as it makes it easier to brush the very back teeth.

I replace it every few months. Well worth the cost and my girls have plaque-free white teeth.

We groom our cats’ faces with this over tea every morning, and sometimes again later too. I think it feels like a momma cat licking them, they seem to find it very comforting. Plus a well groomed face means less hairs falling into the eyes or contaminating the water bowl.

The little end goes into the ear slightly for dealing with itchiness, and fits well between the whiskers and eyes or other precision work. The big end is great for the bigger areas. We hoped that after a few weeks of brushing along the jaw and cheek we’d be able to start sticking it in their mouth and eventually have a nice tooth brushing habit, but they just won’t do that.

We started when they were all adults. I think if you get them used to having their mouth cleaned as a baby that’s the best way to do things. And dental care is important! Our vet wants to put them under every 2-5y for cleaning which is physically and emotionally stressful on the animal.

So my advice is: get this for anyone you know who has a puppy or kitten, so they can develop good habits to keep teeth clean the easier, cheaper way! And if you have an adult pet, who knows, perhaps you can still convince them to tolerate a tooth brushing.

If not it is a very nice grooming tool so there’s nothing to lose. One more thing to add, about alternative products. Some have silicone bristles or there are even finger-cot ones that are all silicone and very small.

A pet may decide that such items are fun to eat. I had to pull a figer-cot one out of our tabby’s mouth, and he has never chewed on anything, even chew toys, so don’t think you’re safe just because your pet “isn’t a chewer”- you never know.

If you get a silicone brush, keep it in a secure location between uses! Better yet just get something plastic like this.

I write reviews when I can, pro or con. In a word, this toy is “perfect. ” We have a 20 pound young dog who is partially blind. He can’t see his toys. So finding toys that excite him, can be challenging.

This one was a big winner right out of the package. Like a little kid he is carrying it everywhere, even to bed. He chews on it until he falls asleep on it. If your dog loves to chew, I think they will adore this toy too.

Very well made. Very sturdy. He won’t chew through this anytime soon, if ever.

My dog loves his toothbrush and will even use it without toothpaste. However he does find it a little challenging to use as the toothbrush is a bit too tall for him. Sometimes he manages to get it in the right position and holds the handles down with his paws but just as often he gnaws on the bottom end while it is laying flat on the ground.

Nevertheless at least he is chewing on something appropriate.

My dog hates to have his teeth brushed. He runs and hides, and if I do happen to catch him all he does is **** the toothpaste off the brush. So!!! Thanks to your green tooth cleaner toy my dog loves to chew his way to clean and healthy teeth.

I’m very lucky in the fact that my labradors enjoy having their teeth brushed. I started with them when they were young and this particular brand of finger brush works extremely well. It is a soft rubber so it sticks to your finger well while still being able to feel how much pressure you are putting on the gums and teeth.

This simple slide on brush is comfortable for both you and your dog. Toothpaste sticks to the bristles well and it is extremely simple to wash after each daily brushing. Highly recommend this easy to use product to make a daily task easier.

I have been using an actual dog toothbrush to brush my dog’s teeth for many years. It was getting to be a big ordeal and I found I wasn’t brushing his teeth as often as I should. I decided to gives the finger toothbrush a try to at least massage his gums and avoid plaque build up.

It is sorta kinda easier, but, the finger brush will only fit on my fourth finger (not my index). Also it does not stay in place and the “brush” part keeps turning away from my dogs teeth so I do not feel I get much plaque removal.

I will continue to use the finger brush to massage his gums daily, but back to the real toothbrush for good plaque removal. My dog is a 76 lb. English Cream Golden Retriever.

I took my standard poodles in for their check up and my vet recommended I get these finger toothbrushes for my youngest poodle. She has hard to reach back teeth. We use the regular dog toothbrushes but our vet said these are easier to manage those hard to reach areas way in the back.

They have worked good so far. My standard poodles are used to having their teeth brushed so it’s easy for us to brush and go. If using with a dog that is not used to it , these may take a few trys before getting it without your dog wanting to bite down on your finger.

Lol we recommended these as an easy way to keep the teeth clean.

The small side of the brush fits perfectly for our cats’ teeth. The big side is useless for us bc it is too big for our needs, but it doesn’t matter. I like the small side better than the silicone finger brushes we have tried.

The toothpaste works fine. One of my cats, Lulu, likes the taste, the other one, Lukie, doesn’t. I mean he doesn’t hate it, but it doesn’t make brushing his teeth enticing to him. Overall the combined brush and paste works for us.

I like the paste better than the weird gel from the commercial pet brands that is made with alcohol. So I am happy.

My cats go absolutely bonkers for this toothpaste. Even to me it smells decent, not like your typical ‘processed meat flavored mush’ cheap wet food kind of smell. I’m pretty sure they actually think it’s a treat whenever I break it out, and will desperately try and lick the brush clean while I’m trying to scrub their teeth.

Results in an entertaining battle of wills, with both parties feeling victorious in the end. Cats think they got an awesome treat, I know I helped keep their little chompers healthy for longer.

I’m just trying to learn how to brush their teeth and when I tried decades ago with other cats, they hated whatever I bought (it was beef flavor and another brand). All 6 of my cats are *more than happy* to have me jam my finger in their mouths with this toothpaste.

I tried the toothbrush and I’m not good at it, but my cat was chewing on it, so it could be worse. Have not tried the finger thing. It’s too big for my finger so I wouldn’t be able to move it around in their mouths.

It fits okay on my thumb, but I have yet to figure out how to get between their gums and teeth. Only one of them lets me do that easily. None of my adult cats is used to this procedure, but they all want the toothpaste and they are downright eager about it! It as such a surprise.

The fact that they’re sooooo into it makes me think that at the very least, they are getting some good enzymes in their mouth to fight that tartar. I really expected this to be a LOT harder.

I adopted a 9 year old terrier mix about a year ago. I started to try to brush his teeth right away because I believe it is important to his health. We do this every day and he still bites the toothbrush more than not.

Anyway, this brush holds up better and will last longer than many of the others.

Absolutely love this tooth brush. Very easy to use with comfortable grip. The bristle head is big enough that it is easy to get at the back teeth. Most other “doggie” toothbrushes are awkward to use.
