20 Best Tool To Cut Ductwork (2023 Updated)

After reading some bad reviews, I almost didn’t buy this cutter. I can tell EVERYONE that it worked much better than I expected. I even had my 15 year old grandson work it. After a few minutes to figure it out, it works great.

I used to cut 26 and 29 ga metal with fabricated ribs. Works great on the flat metal- cuts like a knife Thru butter. However it doesn’t do so well with raised metal. It works ok with the 29 ga with some difficulty however it sucked on the 26 ga- it will not cut over or under the 3/4 inch ribs at all.

So far it’s been better than the other cutters I’ve used before. It’s hefty enough to handle properly and the thick grip makes it easy to maneuver. I just replaced the first cutting wheel after a few months of use and mostly because of co-workers being a little rough with it.

Only down side of the tool and an unhappy one is the incorporated reamer. It’s easy to loose/break if one’s not careful using it. If you get used to using it, like I did, then you will miss it once you don’t have it any longer.

Other than that highly recommend.

The product worked great when I was residing a lean-to shed with steel siding panels. It cut thru the steel easily, but I did have a problem with bends in the steel siding. Cutting on an up bend was okay – but not so on the down.

Maybe if I used it a lot more, I’d master how to cut on the down. Basically, I would just flip the steel sheet over and it solved the problem. It certainly saved me a lot of time and it was easier on the hands instead of using tinsnips.

I use this tool to rip galvanized decking. It worked great till one of the blade screws broke. It is a little temper mental with the angle. Also it only works on flat surfaces. Do not try to cross cut corrigated materials or it will break those bolts.

Which are on back order.

Takes a little practice and if you get in hurry, it is real difficult to make a straight cut. But take your time and keep the speed down to allow great control on level and non-level metal (such as the ribs in metal roofing).

These have been a real life saver and leave a curl of metal with only a very slight rough edge. Much better than tin snips.

I really like this Spanish made tubing/pipe cutter. The cutter wheel glides in and out very smoothly, almost as if it were riding on ball bearings. But there are no ball bearings, it’s so smooth because of the motion of the heavy adjusting barrel handle.

The easy to change cutter wheel can be changed without any tools. I could go on and on about how nice this tool is. As far as price goes, please keep in mind, It’s not that Klein tools cost more, it’s just that cheap crap costs less.

Wow, this thing is heavy duty! It weighs a lot! It just seems like such a well made tool, too! Really impressive the smoothness of how it works! Klein is one of my favorite tool companies and unlike some other tool companies all of their items are top notch!.

Ive used it several times now and it works well. Ive had no problems and it appears to be well made and it should last a long time. Not a bad investment at all. Does work well in tight quarters.

The equipment arrived in France very quickly, but it took a little time to get from the airport (customs) to us because of the Covid19 situation. The only drawback is that our customer service emails were not answered (to be improved).

They work great in tight against the wall spots. And quick cutting.

I got this because it was reasonable cost and I thought it would cut a 3 Inch pipe easier than the 3 inch electric version because of the ability to cut deeper because of the smaller diameter of the air tool body comapred to the electric one.

Also the tool being air operated runs much cooler than the electric version. The allen and open end tools included are all that is needed. Because I have only used this tool for one week, I could not check the durability box, yet.

With proper oiling and care I expect this to be great. I would recommend this tool.

Fantastic value for this cut-off tool. Works as it was designed. It handled smaller jobs fine but I wonder about bigger jobs and the longevity of the item. Still, it is so worth the low price for sure.

I bought a pair about a year ago. I work in a plumbing supply warehouse and when cutting through various width of metal straps that hold the pipe together they are great! They cut easy and have a nice grip on them.

A tiny part of the grip got scraped off a bit but that’s going to happen when they fall off a forklift. They help make the job get done more quickly and I always have my coworkers asking to borrow them instead of some of the other snips in the warehouse.

I purchased this piece of equipment to use to cut a fence I was installing for a dog run. This equipment is difficult to use at times. You have to apply a ton of force to cut 12 guage wire. I am a strong man and I had to use 2 hands at certain periods to cut the wire.

Once I did cut the wire it was a clean smooth cut and it works great. Overall it is a good tool to cut wire. You just need to apply a lot of force at times.

I HAVE MANY DEWALT TOOLS, THEY ARE OF GOOD QUALITY AND WORK WELL.

At glance I was a bit hesitant as these look very similar to elchipos which cost £5 for three, but do not get fooled – this is a serious, well engineered tool. Straight from the blister, I was able to cut wit ease approx 3m lines in 1mm mild steel.

Stock was not bent and cuts were clean with minimal burr to be easily filed. I am very happy with those snips.

Bloody terrific product. Compared to my old Tin Snips, these are Light Years ahead. Easy to use, less pressure exerted, excellent cutting round corners. Every Tool Box should have a set of these. Honestly, they are THAT good.

Would HIGHLY recommend.

These are about the best pound for pound snips you can buy! Although not as nice on the eye as the milwaukee snips, they are around 20% cheaper and are just as good! If you are a professional it’s either one of the two.

Don’t entertain any others stanely used to be ok but the design has changed and they ain’t as good as they used to be, Irwin and Weiss are ok.

This is the second pair that I have I now have both left and right handed pairs. The snips are ideal for ares where you cannot use standard shaped snips IE: in tight areas where by there is not enough space for the long handles of standard shaped grips.

These are special snips for specific jobs, not as a replacement for standard snips.

I also have the red left cut snips and the quality of both are unsurpassed. So comfortable and easy to cut through anything. Good work Midwest! A great company in my home state of Michigan.

Used it yesterday to trim aluminum edging above my gutters at the mounting brackets under the roof shingles without having to remove the edging from under the roof. The 90 degree angle worked perfect and was and still is razor sharp.

I used to own a pair of older, beloved ProSnips and misplaced them. So I ordered these as a substitute to cut high-pressure laminate in the cabinetmaking trade. When I received them I had my druthers as to whether they would perform as well as the old ones.

Upon using them for the first time they worked out better than the old ones. The laminate doesn’t have the tendency to crack at the end of cut. They are built rugged and look and feel like they will last much longer than the ProSnips.

If They’re not in my hand being used they’re on my side in my magnogrip tool belt. I’m a $25 an hour 32 year old sheet metal mechanic who joined the sheet metal union at age 18. Ofcourse my first pair were straights not offsets lol but they were some off home depot generic brand then I had wiss until they folded on me then i was introduced to midwest and they always cut straight and clean as long as you dont cut notched metal or beads or where you need to be using double cuts or bulldogs.

Unfortunately I believe I already ruined my red pair for that exact reason regardless of the fact in this same order ordering this pair i also ordered midwest bulldogs. lol. it happens.

Good quality snips. Leverage makes them easy on the hands. Well engineered quality product. More expensive than some but worth it as you get what you pay for.should last a lifetime

Ive used this tool for about 20 years now and love it . As the bit wears just adjust the depth so a fresh portion is performing the cut . One must not rush the cut , but let the tool do the work !

I used these tinsnips on a aluminum soffit and fascia job. They cut the aluminum materials as a hot knife threw butter. They fit in my hand very well without any discomfort as several other name brand snips do.

The quality of materials used to manufacture this product is very good. The tinsnips are very light weight. Didn’t notice any weight in my tool belt. I will highly recommend these outstanding tin snips to other co-workers.

Precise, lightweight and easy to handle. These tin snips easily cut through duct work and flashing. I’ve found them extremely effective at cutting vinyl siding as well. They’re a step above your standard tin snips and the range of motion makes them a lot easier to get a better bite on your project.

These Midwest Straight Regular Snip were easy to use. They cut metal with such precision, glide through each cut with little force. Great for small cuts, long cuts and even easy to cut in circular angles.

Fits nice in hand to grip the snips. The only issue was they open too wide if you have a small hand.

These snips are great. My last pair lasted about 5 years, only getting these as a replacement because I lost my old pair. These bad boys handle all types of cuts and materials.

was looking into getting a new set of snips. I usually use wiss but they have been going downhill lately. saw these Midwest and heard lots about them and they are great!

Turns out aviation snips are perfect for cutting copper electrical wires, and the long cut snips allows me to cut a whole bunch at once and reach deep into narrow crevices. These DeWalt snips are decently priced, cut well, and are very robustly built.

I also like the one handed release, which is easy to use & doesnt get in the way.

I have only used the red snips once so far. They cutt with ease. Handle is very comfortable. The price is great. Basically getting a pair for free.
