PowerPlanter arrived in box, my mechanic friend said there’s no way that will work on a 240v drill and that I needed a post hole digger. He watched the YT clip, attached the PowerPlanter auger to the drill, set the drill to the recommended speed and dug a hole in dried clay ground like cutting into cold butter.

He was completely blown away. Ha! This thing is going to save me $100’s in physio/massage fees. The best $130 bucks I’ve ever spent in the garden. I totally recommend this product. Just watch the You Tube clip on the website a few times and get familiar with your drill.

set your drill to low power to start with and develop your confidence with using PowerPlanter This item will be perfect to turn the compost heap and turn the veggie bed ground & loads of small digging projects, particularly good for vintage gardeners and people with aching joints etc because it’s easy.

I find the the drilling process may be too forceful for the wrist in the beginning before I got used to the operation and unless you have strong wrist to grab the drill tight as it spins, injury is a real risk here as the spindle may get stuck on the ground but the drill handle with the attached battery still spins around, twisting your wrist in the action.

I am glad I bought this one model with the long spindle as I could see that a shorter one would easily get mud sprayed over my drill and require messy cleaning later. The spindle is so sharp I actually have a small cut on my fingers when I first try to grab the spindle by hand after opening the box so new buyer should be aware and mindful of that.

It is a very useful digging tool and safe to use once you learn to master the proper application and know when to push and when to pull, when to apply force and grip tight and when to stop and reverse drill when situation requires.

Also, it would be wise to wear gloves and know what is under the ground before you start drilling deep.

I’ve been using a PP for about 12mths now, primarily for excavating around power poles to a depth of 350-450mm. I excavate around 15 poles/day, 5 days/wk. I’ve used it on all soil types except sand and very happy with it’s performance.

I’ve found it safe to use when encountering rocks up to about 120mm diameter when using the correct torque setting. A different tool should be used for larger rocks imo. Technique is the key for hard compacted clay soils.

No fractures or breakages in the time I’ve been using it.

I’m sure it’s been written before, this tool is totally awesome. It works as good as it is advertised. I am on property and it was such hard work establishing new garden beds that I kept putting it into the too hard basket.

I am a little late reviewing the power planters as I had not used them immediately after receiving them. I purchased power planters in the green/black Friday Sale, the price was so good I purchased 3 augers.

Power Planter 307-312 and the 324 H I watched video before using which I highly recommend prior to use. It does take a little time to get used to using them , once you have got the knack you will be cruising.

I also would recommend investing in a quality cordless drill, making sure it fits the Long Shaft Power planter 324H as it requires a drill that has a 13 mm chuck size to fit. I am very happy with the quality and most definitely recommend them to everyone, only complaint would be of the garden gloves which came in the deal 3.

They appear to be of good quality, they fit like a glove but your hands become very sweaty which I personally would not buy again or recommend garden the garden gloves.

havent used it for planting yet, still to come. Had to use electric drill for extra power. Had to dig 450 sq. x 500 deep holes for retaining wall. Drilled holes in corners and in odd spots with power planter and then shovelled loose dirt out as it took too long with auger.

I wouldn’t use it for deep holes or a lot, but I was suprised as to what it could do. Top 3″ of soil was firm, so had to work drill up and down a bit, but ok.

Glad I watched the training video! Given it was the longest one available, I have used it a fair bit digging deeper holes for posts which I know I was able to do in much shorter time without the stress on the muscles! (If there was a longer one I’d buy it tomorrow!) Tried it to see how it went in the garden digging up the areas with some more ‘solid’ ground and very pleased with the result.

I absolutely love it. Works really well and is so easy to use. Just like any drill attachment you need to have a bit of common sense, it can jamb and twist on you if pushed too forcefully into the ground or if it strikes rocks beneath the soils surface.

I use it with a cordless drill and drill down the full 28 inches.

I am by no means a veteran Gardner but necessarily is the mother of invention. I have a huge hill in my back yard that was impossible to cut the grass. I decided to put in 250 ground cover plants. Aa well on the side of the house in [perpetual shade grass would not grow.

This was another 200 plants. I tried digging holes a few ways. Some worked better than others, but all were labor intensive. The PRO PLUGGER made the DIY job a snap. IT REALLY WORKS. It makes a perfect hole and the slugs of dirt load up the tube and can be dumped easily.

I thought they would stick. but they came out easy (clay dirt). It has two depth rings to control depth of hole. The hole diameter is fixed (about 2″). It may not work if your ROOT BALL is big as the hole is only 2″ in diameter (approx).

That is sufficient for most small plants. One of the plants I installed Dwarf Mondo came in small 3″ pots. When removed from pot (plastic cup) most of the dirt came off but the ROOT BALL was a snug fit.

(I now learned to enlarge hole by offsetting slightly and re-plugging around original hole. ) In hindsight I should have soaked the root ball for a hew hours in water and separated the root ball in half and planted them into two holes.

However as a tool it works.

You want the most ergonomic and easy on the back way to plant bulbs this is it. I cant stay bent over and when sitting down I cant get the torque to dig those 3-6 deep holes for planting bulbs. With the plugger you stay erect and are able to put more of your weight on the plugger to pop those holes open.

Plus it comes with a 2 and 4 spacer for digging to the exact depth you need. I do wish it included a 3 spacer though. Extremely heavy duty and well made. This baby is never going to bend or break on you.

I highly recommend it.

Not very often You get something and have it work 100% up to your expectations. This plugger fits the bill. Many times over. I got it to transfer zoysia plugs in sizeable chunks to transplant into various other places in our soccer complex playing fields.

Fast easy, performs well etc. and when we chunk out the area to transplant the zoysia back into, we use the “bad” plug to fill the previous, now empty hole from the good zoysia grass. In a month or less the good zoysia will close off this plug area and heal itself.

So happy I went out and bought 2 more for 3 total now. I figure I could do a plug slowly at 1 per 10 seconds or 6 per minute x 60 minutes or 360 plugs per hour per unit. Now times 3 units and I get 1080 plugs put in the ground in 1 hour using three units.

Rotate people or buy more pluggers and you can see how fast you could impact your fields. I wish I had this while I was coaching the University Soccer Team. We would have had the best soccer field in the area after a year or two.

This is not a throw-away purchase. High-quality metal construction and engineering went into this product. It EASILY reaches the 6″ advertised depth with minimal effort. The long handle keeps you from being on your knees.

The only drawback I have with it is the fact the dirt plug must be pushed out through the top. Not a huge problem, but if the soil is clay or compacted, it can take a little effort to push it upward and out the top in order to free it.

Not a flaw, just engineered that way to maintain strength. If you but this one, you will never need another bulb transplanter.

We are both disabled and did not know how we were going to make the holes to plant our bulbs, until I thought and found this tool. We have a way to dig the holes for planting and we are using our long handle arm to put the bulbs in and our feet to push the dirt around the hole.

Hopefully, we can have a beautiful garden, thanks to this tool. I would totally recommend it.

Love it perfect size for garden plants, reuse of your garden plant pots for other plants. Give you more power to go right to the perfect area you want to plant. Use don’t have to use so much mucle to plant your plants.

The foot area and padded handles are great. Fabulous and well made.

I wish I had heard of this a long time ago it works like a charm. I go along and dig the holes in a pattern I can see real well, put in the bulbs, then cover them up, so quick and easy well worth every penny.

I was very impressed at the quality of this item for the price. It’s made with solid construction and is an all metal design. I modified mine to cut some “teeth” in the bottom to help it dig into the ground and grass better but I am very happy at this purcfhase.

Fell apart halfway through planting 3 dozen tulip bulbs. Bent handle and spring popped out.

This is a little pricier than some of the cheapo bub planters I’ve used from Lowe’s, but it is so well constructed, and the spring release is key. I used this to plant all of my bulbs this year!

This tool is a huge help in planting bulbs evenly and at just the right depth.

The timing on this product couldn’t have been better! Last weekend I started ripping up my back lawn, and decided to plant a “victory garden”. I got all of the grass pulled up, and it was time to get some vegetable starters into the ground.

First off, to fully appreciate how truly amazing this product is, you need to know, I’m dealing with thick clay soil, lots of small rocks, and numerous random roots. It took a little bit of a learning curve, but once I figured it out, this little tool cut through the clay soil like a knife through butter.

It even tore up the roots and cleared the way for new plants! It dug out the holes the perfect depth for the veggie starts. I did have a little bit of an issue clearing the tool of soil after digging the hole, but again, my soil is legit clay.

All and all, this is an excellent little tool, it would be especially great to use in an established garden. I would definitely recommend it!.

My sister lost her tool like this one, and she really missed having it. I replaced it for her. This is a very versatile hand garden tool that can be used for multiple projects.

I would have bought one long ago if the description made clear that the black bar in the picture is actually a lever, pivoted where it passes through sthe blue body, so that when pressed up to the handle, it pulls on the silver-coloured screw head to open the jaws.

This makes it very easy to release the plug of soil. It also makes it easy to cut a slightly larger hole if required. The metal is the same thickness as the very cheap ones, but the shape of the body makes it slightly more robust than those.

I do wonder why they are not all made of 1. 5/1. 6mm thick steel instead of the 1. 2mm, or even 2. 0mm. Then they would all be much more robust. For up to about say 100 holes in a session, I think this is the best option.

For more holes, the ache from the twisting of the wrist means that probably a long handled, two handed, bulb planter would be better, (Currently 30 instead of 10, and 5 for el-cheapo ones without the lever) Good enough for me to now be buying one for my brother.

Used to plant bulb on a lawn. Requires a good twisting action, and will need help releasing soil back into ground (poke with a stick). But allowed me to plant >50 bulbs in a much shorter time than usual a trowel.

Worth every penny. Well made, sturdy and bright blue which makes it easy to spot if left in the garden. Added bonus is it has a long guarantee so might outlast me.

My ground is very hard, so the superior quality of the Wolfe Bulb Planter makes light work of planting bulbs. Cuts through turf and provides a neat hole for the bulbs. It is more expensive than other similar products, but should be more durable.

Like all Wolf garten products it is very well made. Makes planting very easy regardless of soil and number of bulbs.

Absolutely the best bulb planter on the market. Excellent design. Easy to use . Super strong and sturdy .

We are in our late seventies so this bulb planter works well for placing bulbs while standing. It doesn’t work so well, nor was it designed to, separate clustered clumps of lily roots. For that, it’s knees in the dirt time.

Works very well on clean soil. Will deal fine with smaller rocks as expected but obviously not larger stones. Easy to use and holds and deposits soil as advertised.

The tool has a good height to work with and the foam handle reduces sore hands. I wish the serrations were sharper as I was digging in a heavy soil lawn. It took me time to remove the clay cylinder, it was like uncooked black pudding.

I used a long chisel however. I replaced the heavy soil on top of the bulbs with compost which I pushed down into the cavity with force. The lawn was left looking very neat using this garden tool. I planted 100 bulbs over 2 days using it.

A power drill would be quicker.

Takes the bending out of bulb planting. The plug of soil/turf removed is wide and deep enough to accommodate most commonly used bulbs such as tulips and daffodils and the soft grip handle is fairly large, which I think should think will be of great benefit to those with painful hand and elbow joints.

There is a foot bar to enable further downward pressure which will reduce the strain on hands, elbows and shoulders. As someone who suffers from chronic back pain, I find this tool a real boon as it reduces to a minimum the need to bend and cuts out kneeling completely.

I will add photos of the tool in use once the weather permits.

Great product and good price. I wish someone could figure out a way to release to release clay/soil in these devices. You can get handl held models that you press to release but it would be great if a long handled version like this existed.

in description and on the label it says “Designed for planting bulbs or plants in turf or heavy soil”. Well, this is not true. It got bent out of shape trying make a hole for the first bulb, rendering the tool absolutely useless.

And I still had 36 to plant! See picture attached. Obviously not fit for purpose. I was trying to use it on turf which was not dry or too hard. just normal turf.

I found this didn’t work with dry crumbling soil but this problem was largely solved by simply watering the area where you want to plant your bulbs. The soil release mechanism doesn’t always work but overall I found this easier to use than digging the same depth with a trowel.

A good, strong, sturdy bulb planter. Good value for money.
