20 Best Tool For Grout Removal (2023 Updated)

Used first to remove two floor tiles which was really slow going in the sanded grout. Once I switched to the bathroom tile, it purred through the unsanded grout. I also purchased the guide which helps to keep you in the best angle and stay in between the tiles, but you have to free hand at corners.

Just be sure to seal the room tight cause there’s a lot of dust.

I had a fair task on hand replacing five limestone floor tiles (slabs really, up to 800x500mm) and bought two of these to do the job. The first one didn’t last vary long at all before it was blunt and I didn’t go too hard on it as I had a long way to go.

In the end I made a dust suppressor for my angle grinder (an old ice cream tub with an extra hole for the vacuum cleaner house to fit in) and removed the grout with a diamond disc. I kept the second Dremmel bit for tight corners where the angle grinder wouldn’t fit.

So all in all not bad bits for removing one time maybe but could turn out very expensive if it’s a bigger job.

This cutter is extremely tough and long lasting. Bought this one as a replacement as I wore out the first one cutting tiles!

I always used an old toothbrush to clean, but the bristles would flatten and the toothbrush didn’t reach all areas. This item is very good! The angle of it makes it much easier to use, and it gets a lot of areas in the bathroom without excessive bending or needing to contort your body.

Also, the bristles are very stiff. I apply some pressure to get remove dirt that is especially caked on, and this brush works perfectly, and is inexpensive. I am very pleased!.

it’s obviously a good price but still not worth it. after cleaning the grout in my shower just once, the bristles were already warped to the point where it couldn’t be used again. i also found the handle really inconvenient as you can’t get the proper leverage to use the bristles.

this seems like it is designed only for really, really light cleaning.

I haven’t had much success finding a tile grout brush that really gets into tight places and holds up to the pressure of lots of scrubbing action. until now. This brush is well made and does a good job.

for the price it is overrated. have seen other blades that aren’t as exspensive and lasted just as long before they burn up from use.

I bought this product and put it through hell and back with the projects I’ve taken on recently and it’s still cuts like new! Great blade and durable for even the toughest jobs

I have not used it yet but it is what I expected. I plan to use them to cut some sheet metal that is already in place {trim around a garage door}.

I bought this tool to remove excess thin-set from between my tiles before laying down the grout. For this purpose, the tool worked perfectly. If trying to remove grout however, it tends to work best in one direction (pulling) as the carbide grits makes it difficult to remove material in the pushing direction.

The blade is replaceable which is great as you can continue to re-use the body of the tool.

Worked relatively well, I thought it would be harder but after reading various websites and YouTube videos, if applying same colour, not a lot of surface grout needs to be removed. Very happy with result.

Not great for shower tile grout. Not heavy duty enough. Worked well on sanded floor tile grout.

Does the job. Slower and more effort required than a dremel rotary tool but have more control with less risk of damaging tiles. Did dull over time on my 20 year old grout which was very hard so have a back up ready.

I used both the 1/8 dremel rotary tool and this tool. Rotary tool was good in tight spots like corners which this tool can’t get into.

I purchased this product after reading the reviews. does not work as easily as others say. I am removing grout from a small shower floor and have been working on it for two weeks (still not finished).

It takes me about 45 mins per grout line and I have to continually go over each section to ensure that all the grout has been removed. It is definitely easier than using a grout remover tool, however, it does not work as fast or effectively as I had hoped.

Be aware, while your ACEHardware store maybe more convenient to your home, the prices you see online are NOT what you’ll pay at your local dealer. I had to pay $6 more a piece for my dremel grout cutter.

Since I couldn’t wait and had plummer’s at the house I had to pay much more.

Very expensive bit. Removes grout, but on old grout becomes dull and it is not the type of bit that can be sharpened.

I bought these to clean the plastic of my double glazed windows and the hinges etc. Brilliant – did the job and I would buy again

I havent used this brand as of yet so not able to comment I do have the dewalt multi tool that I bought the blades for so yes they do look like the same size blade as another brand I was using before they snapped and at that point I had finished removing most of the grouting and due to waiting for these blades to arrive I managed to finish the job in hand anyway.

The cut is a little wide – it’s best for gaps of 3mm or more – but looks like there is a lot of wear in it.

Ordered this tool to remove grout from my tiles and although I have not used it yet I tried it on a small piece of wall and it is ideal it arrived on time and at a good price I am delighted

Does really good. I havent finished using it for the job I bought it for and am skeptical if I’ll get through 300sqft with 1 as I find them a bit pricey. That being said theres also a price on a persons time so having to buy more may well be worth it to make a lousy job go much faster!.

Did what I wanted it to and I am quite sure it will be perfect for other jobs I have in mind. I love my Fein Multi-tool and rate their own accessories as being superior to cheaper options, although more expensive.

I guess you have to pay more for the best.

This is the ideal blade for grout removal, it is a professional accessory for a professional machine, delighted with it.

This was not as good as expected

I’ve recently bought a few tools made by Vitrex, for some general refurbishment work I’m involved with. Although I was unfamiliar with this brand beforehand, it seems popular with some of the DIY/Trade stores we all tend to go to for supplies, so it’s entered my radar.

My verdict is, very good. The Vitrex Grout Finisher is a simple to use, economic to buy joint finishing tool that adds a little finesse to your grouting work. After you’ve applied your grout and wiped away excess grout/bloom with a tile sponge, just go over your tile joints with this tool and you’ll straighten/tighten up the joint appearance.

It isn’t necessary to use this type of tool everywhere, it really depends on how well the tiles were laid in the first place (straight alignment, even width joints etc. ) and what colour grout is used alongside the tile colour (if the grout is a similar match, it tends to blend in, if not it can stand out, accentuating any imperfections in the tiling/grout joint widths etc.

). So, when to use this tool is down to the individual, assessing each tiling job on its merits. All in all, a helpful item to have in your toolbox.

Makes such a difference to the grout finish. A friend recommended using a biro lid, this works much better. I’d prefer the tool if it was just the rounded end with a comfy handle as once the grout starts going off you have to apply pressure.

The material could be tougher too, they don’t last long before they lose their shape, but overall, for the price, well worth buying.

I was happy with the grout finishing tool, however I am unlikely to use it again as I have no more grouting planned. I now keep it in a vase full of odds and sods, in the hope that a visitor (perhaps a visiting, curious younger family member) will pick it out of the vase and ask “what is this Nigel?” I will then explain that it is indeed a grout finishing tool, and explain the advantages of having one to hand when grouting, (don’t worry I will not be running the risk of looking a fool by being unexpectedly caught out on the off chance my student is in the know on the subject of grout finishing tools, I have watched YouTube documentaries on them EXTENSIVELY.

Best Brass brush money can buy. It is the most comfortable brush I have used. It has a forward head that makes working with it easier. It has positive grip and the bristles are long lasting. I am not a paid, affiliated or compensated reviewer, I bought this and use it for cleaning rust of tools.

Bristles are thin and quite flexible. I therefore do not expect it to last very long. Brush is tiny overall and is not worth price paid in my opinion. There are better choices. Had I known the size I would not have made the purchase.

The Allway Tools SB1 Stripper Brush I used stripping of old rusty paint on outdoor lamps and outdoor tables. I was able to get down to the bear metal and it was easier to repaint.

By far THE BEST OMT blade I have used! Held up very well cutting into some steel siding! Like Butter!

I haven’t used it yet, but the bristles seem sturdy and the items seem well put together. My only issues so far include some of the bristles on the toilet brush looking head were pushed in from being stuffed in a box too small for it, and I was sent the yellow and black not the blue that was ordered.

The box said blue, but the yellow ones were inside. Not a big deal though.

Use it to clean my pellet stove every day.It is the perfect size for my pellet stove the one I used before was small and not half as good.

i Would recommend one of these to anyone who has grouting to do. Saves your hands drying out when using just a sponge, really effective at removing excess grout and the provided sponge is really good leaves a good crisp grout line.

I Also use the wash boy for sponge float plastering and it does a great job at removing excess from the sponge. Wheels on the product would make it even better!.

I bought this after (too) much deliberation! I should have done so earlier. For the cost it is a great piece of kit. It saves so much time, is simple to use and is easy to clean. I used it on a quarry tile floor and it made the job so much easier.

Would definitely recommend.

Amazing bit of kit, no smearing just perfect for grouting and would highly recommend!!!!

I didnt get on well with this tool, but maybe I was using it incorrectly. The flat ‘apply’ end was very awkward to manoeuvre and the grout would slip off the tool before I could apply where required.

I also didn’t like the finishing end so ended up just using my finger instead.
