20 Best Tool For Cutting Brush (2023 Updated)

This is the second of this exact model for us. The battery life and the strength of the system have been very good for such an inexpensive unit. My wife uses the heck out of them in her flower beds and gets them quite dirty, however the first one lasted almost four years taking a lot of abuse.

The motor failed because it got too hot because the air intake/exhaust slots got clogged up because she never cleaned the unit. And I occasionally used it for edging the curbs and sidewalks which was lite duty compared to the punishment my wife puts it through.

That is why we purchased another one of these. For the money, they can’t be beat in my opinion.

I was skeptical at first. But after reading the reviews, and years of lugging around my 4 cycle gas trimmer, this one is all I need. I have a quarter acre yard in the suburbs and realized I am getting too old to crank on the boat anchor they call a gas trimmer.

My first use was the trimming in the front, then recharge the battery while I mowed the back. The next time, I trimmed the front and back with plenty of charge left. Sure, you can’t use it to clear a field or cut through overgrowth, but I love it for normal trimming after mowing.

Being so light weight it doesn’t tire me out or make my back hurt. Now I enjoy trimming after mowing.

I’m not an experienced lawn person–just a single mom with a full time job who wants to do what I have to do in terms of lawn upkeep without extra fancy stuff that’s hard for me to maintain. My time is really limited and I have better places to spend it than on lawn maintenance.

With that in mind, this works really well for me–simple to put together, and to use. It’s not hugely powerful, but I don’t need it to be, and for the cost I wouldn’t have expected much more. I’m easily able to zip around the fence line, rocks, etc to clean up after using the mower.

I’m very happy with this product.

I live near a creek that has many thistle growing along the bank. I tried cutting mature thistle with the string trimmer. The thistle ate the string in seconds. I bought the STIHL Brush knife and installed it.

The brush knife goes through thistle like a hot knife through butter. I barely felt any resistance. The brush knife also cuts small branches on trees well.

Product is as advertised. Does a great job with small saplings and brush. Make sure you order the separate mounting kit since this product is just the brush kife blade itself.

We use our Stihl Brush Knife often. It attaches easily to any of our trimmers and cuts through ANYTHING. We initially bought it to level some bamboo, but now use it for clearing any kind of brush.

I used this brush cutter for the first time today. Cutting through briar thickets. Worked a lot better than I expected. Bought 2 extra off brand batteries to test how long the worx batteries would last.

Sadly the off brand batteries lasted almost twice as long. Both are 4. 0ah batteries. But again the brush cutter worked awesome.

After nearly two weeks of waiting on FedEx for the brush cutter that I need for conservation work tomorrow, I discovered that 1) the instructions are incorrect in the order of parts assembly, 2) the instructions are really just poorly done and 3) the lock-nut does NOT fit/is poorly/incorrectly threaded, which makes my brush cutter totally useless.

It’s also possibly that the threaded drive shaft could be the issue but I’m betting that it’s the nut. All that time and money on a tool order ($800+) for a 5am project start time and after hours of patiently trying, I’ve concluded that I cannot do the only thing planned for tomorrow.

which is to clear the brush for greater access to the area. And I’ve yet to find a link that will allow me to email Work or open a support ticket. First time I’ve had an issue with a Worx product and I own pretty much everything Worx has ever made.

What an epic disappointment in Quality Control and available customer service options. Ideally, Worx would ship me the drive head with a nut screwed onto the driveshaft and a return label in the package for me to return the existing drive head and lock-nut.

Sending me a lock-nut does not guarantee a fix. Looks like I’ll have to stop my work to deal with this during working hours since there’s no other obvious means of communication/complaint.

I bought this almost 3 weeks ago and I had the chance to use it last weekend. It is much more powerful and get the work done in less time compared to my worx edger/ trimmer which I also like. as an all around tool.

Having multiple worx tools makes home and lawn maintenance a breeze.

This is a crazy powerful. Fast RPM, so fast it will spin the string trimmer head apart. (on my 2nd) So I no longer bump feed them, which is fine because it take string which is basically steel cable.

6ft of string last forever cutting grass. That being the bad, the good far outweighs being too powerful. It starts everytime on 92 mixed with boat 2stroke oil. Mostly on the first pull. (2nd & 3rd if its cold out) Its blade is a bit difficult to figure out the first time, but after a few swaps it’s simple as 1,2,3.

It will cut anything you point it at. Including you. (Be Careful!) Wear goggles & boots, the best of homedepot/lowes is still far below this machine. I went through 5 bigbox store weedeaters before walking into the husqvarna dealer and saying “Sell me something I won’t regret” It was a bit pricey, but the sting went away when it never failed me and never bogged down when it got deep.

I cut through 1/4 mile of creek brush like it wasn’t there. It’s heavy for a reason. Any lighter and it would run away or be underpowered. So, IMO this is a perfect machine for anything.

I bought this unit back in 2019 to help clear the forests out around my house and make some new trails. When it came to the wood saw this unit is king, but when I transferred over to the brush (grass) blade and trimmer whipper you get to see the main defect in the design.

The way the trimmer guard attaches to the bevel gear case should be a product defect. What will happen is if you ever slightly bump the trimmer guard (which you will do) the single screw that holds it on will sheer off and become stuck in the gear case.

You will then have to remove a broken screw which may not be possible, if you cant get it out your going to have to spend $100+ on a new bevel gear housing. The trimmer guard should attach the same way the wood saw blade guard attaches by clamping on to prevent this kind of problem.

If the trimmer guard attached with a proper functional and robust design I would recommend this to anyone, but based on spending 4+ hours trying to remove a single screw and then still having to spend almost 20% of the cost of this unit within the first week of owning it due to this I cannot in good faith recommend it until this design defect is resolved.

For anyone that wants to look at the part themselves look at 5440876-01 (clap thing with 2 screws 1 for bevel gear 1 for trimmer guard), which screws into 5372959-02 (bevel gear housing) that will attach 5373316-03.

Specifically the screw 5032002-10 for the Bevel Gear needs to be redesigned.

This is a $600-700 power tool. After sporadic uses in less than 3 months, and 3 Husqvarna canned gas uses (purchased at different times), it seized up on me. I took it to my local small engine repair shop, who’s great at what he does, and he’s still fighting with the warranty department about getting it repaired.

If they do not honor it, then it will cost me over $200 to have it fixed. It was not misused or abused and was maintained properly. I did everything right, even using their canned gas. Depending on how their warranty department responds depends on if I’ll ever buy another Husqvarna power tool (and I still need a few more for my projects).

Until then, I would not recommend anybody purchase this.

It wouldn’t pull up grass had I tried that. Big, heavy-thought it was perfect. then I hooked it to a small root to pull up, all it left was “teeth” marks. Ok, on to a smaller stump/root. still nothing.

so beyond disappointed. I returned it and that wasn’t an easy task either! But the store was helpful and finally I got my $113. 00 back. I left with cash but still carry the disappointment, I take pride in my property and this was worthless!!.

It worked as intended. It grips the trees and brings them out of the ground. The next time I use it, I will try to find a helper to drive the tractor. Climbing on and off the tractor got tiring.

It is very well built, and I tried it on a few trees. I had trouble with the bark being pulled off. I found it easier to just put the log chain around the tree twice. I will probably try using it again and might like it, but if I knew what I do now, I would not have bought it, or would have bought the smaller size.

I think a smaller one for smaller trees would be good. Log chains slip off of smaller trees. This one is too big to use on smaller trees. I cannot complain about the price as the price is reasonable.

I assembled it in 15 minutes, I am not sure if I set up the handlebars correctly. It seems that it is set up for a lefty, but again, I’m not sure. This was the only thing I had confusion with. I installed a Forrester type chain blade before the first start.

I added fuel, pumped the primer, choked it, and it started second pull and idles well. I was surprised at the torque it produces. It is heavy, but the weight adds to its stability while cutting saplings and brush.

You can go through 1″ saplings without noticing that you have cut anything. You don’t have to rev it up either. It cuts well at a low rpm. I cut some hedge sown that was at least 3″ at the base. It went through them like butter.

Honestly, I’m very impressed with the first use. I was surprised at the fuel consumption. It looks like it holds about a 1/2 gallon of fuel. After 30 minutes of use, it had very little fuel left. If this thing holds up for a season, it will be a fantastic purchase.

Please understand I am 75 years old and have a different perspective than most users. The strap is not suitable for equipment this size, but it works well on my grandson toy blower so all is not lost.

It was not too hard to assembly but did require some thinking. I had about acre of very heavy (16 to 20) Coastal Bermuda grass and was unable to get a tractor to bush hog. This unit powered through it with total ease.

The. 95 mil line is very helpful in thick grass. A lot of vibration so would recommend decent gloves. It was able to cut through 2 saplings like they were toothpicks with chainsaw teeth on a blade. It is a recommendation to have a second person to pull saplings out of the way.

It is a workhorse but it will work for you. About two hours is my limit. It is not the best ergonomically but I doubt it could be improved. Basically, you have a powerful heavy engine on the back of a steel rod and a relatively light cutting device on the other end.

The one thing the manufacturer could do is offer a reverse angle shaft so saplings can be even with the ground. I’ve had this trimmer for a couple of weeks now. I have 10 acres to keep up, so it has been well tested already. This machine has a ton of power and rips through stuff my old 25cc could barely handle.

(Note: I am not using the thin round line that came loaded on the machine when it arrived. ) It starts easy and runs well so far. But it’s not perfect. The kill switch is a bit too convenient in that if your hand slips just a little on the handle, you can shut off the engine.

Restarting is pretty much impossible unless you unhook from the harness. I don’t like the way the crossbar is bent. It forces my left hand against my torso and my right arm is a bit overextended to reach the right handle.

They should have left the crossbar straight in my opinion. This trimmer is not good for detailed trimming. Its weight and balance make it too unwieldy if you are trying to do the fine trimming. Lastly, the design of the head seems sturdy, but changing the line is a major pain.

The instructions are inaccurate in places, and it almost takes three hands to reassemble once you have the new line on the spool. But overall, its agreat machine for ripping through heavy stuff that many smaller trimmers can’t handle.

I have been busy hacking away at a lot of brush and branches, saplings, tall weeds and trees at my property trying to make i presentable and a useable space. I got this to use for the small things that need to be removed so I can get in closer to the trees to cut off dead limbs, branches that are not growing properly etc.

As well to get rid of all the prickly ash that seem to be everywhere. This brush axe takes a little getting used to due to the not an axe head on it, more like a machete. Also the curved blade takes a bit to adjust to, rather than hacking away like a hatchet would do, you have to pick the spot and in my case kind of hack and slice with it.

I’m sure that with more use I’ll get better with it. The handle is comfortable, I wear a pair of cut resistant gloves with a rubbery palm and fingers so it makes the grip easy and non slip. A “real sheathe” would be better than the plastic case that comes with it.

The plastic case is good for hanging it up on the garage or your shop. It’s handy to use if you have stuff that needs to be removed.

The design is good, would have paid double if quality was there. *NOT SHARPENED FROM NEW*. The angle is ground but the edge is intensionally removed. I sharpened it with a Rada disc sharpener which worked good.

Handle is slippery, put hockey tape on it. Function is good with hook on the end, I wish there was a little more steel at the hook end to get more of a chop. Good for 1” and smaller branches.

i put this little brush axe in my fishing bag and it goes with me every time. i have created my own paths to nicer fishing holes. i have cut through some pretty tough brush and heavy branches without issue.

I also bought the fiskars blade sharpener to keep it ready for anything. I just wish that it came with a sheath because I have to slip it into my bag that has a hydration bladder pocket works fine but a sheath would be better.

I definitely recommend it to anyone for outdoors adventure or back yard chores.

The brush cutter attachment is amazing! It effortlessly cuts through ~3in diameter trunks. I got it to cut down all the invasive bush honeysuckle on our property. I like that it has reach (compared to most chainsaws) so I don’t have to crawl under bush leaves to get to the base.

Husband loves it! Says it cuts through almost everything without any hesitation. Of coarse he still uses the chainsaw for larger jobs.

I purchased this brush cutter 2 months ago to clear an overgrown and neglected property I purchased. There were many briars, vines, small trees and tall grasses. This thing went through it all with ease.

Easy starting and surprisingly quiet. I’ve ran about 12 to 15 tanks of fuel and have had zero issues despite the abuse I’ve put it through. I purchased several other Husqvarna pieces of equipment ( chainsaw, hedge trimmer, string trimmer) and this one has been by far the most used.

I can see it lasting a long time.

I bought this trimmer late last season, and really put it to work this year. The harness is simple to put on and off, and really saves the back. I trim literally miles of stone walls, hills, and occasional brush with a blade, and it runs flawlessly, seldom requiring more than one pull to start.

Best of all, it will handle heavy string, and one spool lasts for a tank of fuel, which goes a long way. The spools are easy to load, a snap to replace, and the string advance works flawlessly. I seldom write reviews, but this is a great product!.

Purchased this to clear areas that have gotten so overgrown the bushes have turned into trees. It’s a heavy unit, so make sure you get the harness. Even then, a full day of cutting brush puts a strain on your back and arms.

But that’s the only negative thing I can say. This cutter handles everything up to 3-inch trees, maybe even more if you’re patient. I’d use my Husqvarna chain saw for the larger stuff. Cutting through thick tangled brush with the saw blade is like cutting through grass with a string trimmer.

Just swing it back and forth and watch it just eat through it. 1-inch trees are nothing. It really makes quick work in a marshy area where something like a Billygoat or pull behind can’t get at. I suggest picking up at least one additional wood cutter blade.

Like anything, they do need to be sharpen and I typically change it out after about 5 to 6 hours of cutting if there is a lot of 1 to 2 inch trees. Switch to the string trimmer attachment and taking on tall grass along the fence line or even thick weeds and it never bogs down.

Plenty of power. There is a star type blade you could use for that, but the string trimmer easily handles it. So you would think that with such a large engine it would be difficult to start. Not at all.

I have never had to pull more than once to get mine to start right up. Noise and vibration are very reasonable. I still use headphones. Exhaust is not blowing back in your face either. The one item I wish I could find in the US is the “Husqvarna Brushcutter Shredder Blade” attachment.

You can find what I’m talking about up on Youtube. I think it’s deemed to dangerous to use in the US, so they don’t sell it here. Like most Husqvarna machines, built to last and they are always improving on the designs.

Worth the money even after the exchange rate. This was exactly the attachment I was looking for. I have the PAD 266 and it works very well!

Bought this with the trimmer and glad I did. Some parts of my property are reverting to the wild, and this appliance really helps with thick weed stems and doesn’t jam up if you wave it top to bottom.

I use the shoulder strap that came with this for the trimmer attachment too. It’s all well balanced and easy to use.

This item does exactly what it says it will do, it cuts. This will go through high level grass/weeds/vines with ease. My concern is that it should have an extended or an additional guard. The guard does not protect against debris being thrown back nor does it protect against running into items in front of the trimmer.

The bade spins super fast and will not stop immediately when lifting your hands off of the triger. This items is great if you have a patch which is just grass/weeds but this is not something which can be used if there may be random debris laying around.

Works great, but I don’t really feel safe using it.

This product would’ve got 5 stars if it were not for the plastic wing-nut used to hold the U shaped handle on. It is not possible to tighten it enough so that the handle stays in place and it must therefore be returned to it’s proper position often.

Aside from that, I love the shoulder harness which helps to support and stabilize the machine. Even though it is reasonably lightweight, it definitely has the power to get the job done!.

I’ve been looking for a quality machete that was sharp out of the box, sturdy, versatile and has a good grip. Saw alot of over priced garbage that had mixed reviews, until I came across this baby! There are some terrible reviews (by people who didn’t get the great quality product I did), but overwhelmingly excellent reviews.

When i got the box, it was damaged (the box), but when I opened the box, the plastic blister pack type packaging the the machete actually was in was pristine. When I opened the packaging (be careful, this machete is razor SHARP!!), I was immediately impressed by the heft, and feel of the machete.

The grip is big enough for to comfortably use 2 hands, but is plastic. I orderd neoprene handgun grip tape and it fixed the slippery grip concern I had and gave the machete an incredibly comfortable gripping surface for when your hands sweat in hot/humid weather.

The blade itself has an axe head portion (on the top end) and a traditional blade surface. Both are incredibly razor sharp and a good quality steel. The sheath that come with it is excellent quality hard military grade nylon, but is made for safe retention and not speed of access.

This machete is at home in clearing brush and on The Walking Dead!!!.

This Fiskars tool stands up to its brand-name reputation. Having said that, I would add that the axe component is less effective than the machete component. In fact, I use a different axe for necessary tasks.

This has a curved handle and molded finger grip. My hands are smaller, though, than the indentations. Also, I am not strong enough to apply enough force to use this machete axe to complete advantage.

Instead, I had a friend do the job for me. This man concurs with my assessment: fine as a machete, less effective as an axe. The area that needed to be cleared included shoots and brush with fairly stout stems and thick brush.

The machete made decisive cuts at the base of the growth; the area was cleared in a short time. The blade is sharp! The sheath is very helpful for storage and for protecting the blade from accidental contact by children.

For an adult with average arm strength, this machete axe makes yard and field clearing easy.

First few ripped easily until I figured a way of gettting them on. Regret not getting these types of gloves years ago. Cheap price for getting 100.

bout it because it was cheaper, XL size really fells like one size smaller, material looks thin but is has holding up on tearing so far, it feels like medium grade material.

The handlebars have to be cranked down so hard in order to stop them from moving when using it. It came with the wrong screws to attach the metal safety guard and the local Husqvarna dealer says the right ones are on back order.

The instructions fall way short. its not clear what parts go where. The control bolts came out while using it and fell off. This thing feels like a prototype. It wasn’t cheap so I feel very disappointed.

Bought this brushcutter last winter because I’d had a Husqvarna brushcutter years ago that I had loved. This one doesn’t deserve the name. The instructions didn’t even include how to attach the brush blade.

Doesn’t have enough power to cut through larger brush, small trees. Has a plastic piece that was described as supposed to hold the blade. broke off the third time I used it. Not happy. Worked ok for cutting tall grass, but have a tractor/mower for that.

Need something for the brush and this wasn’t it.

While this is primarily designed as a cleaning brush for butcher blocks (it’s great for the cleaning and wood grain patterning of large cutting boards), it also has great functionality as a blacksmith’s cleaning tool.

Literally perfect. Just what I needed. I gave it a quick coat of boiled linseed oil just because and now it looks great too. Great quality.

I am a blacksmith and I use this brush to scrape slag off of hot steel. It is very tough and well built. It is way better than my other wire brushes.

I was very hesitant after reading several reviews that it wouldn’t crank the second time and other issues. I am a Husqvarna fan and don’t mind paying good money, but I expect good service in return. Got it put together and fired it up.

Even now, it does not fire up on the first pull. Takes about 5 on average. I can live with that, though. More than enough power and has cranked over a dozen times in the short time that I have had it.

I am very pleased. I do join in with others who have said that the instructions are an absolute joke. Especially how to put the blade on. Husqvarna could do better than that. I am very pleased with with the 336FR and have opened up a lot of overgrown brush and tree with it to run a fence.

I was searching for a good heavy duty machine to clear where i was putting new fence. I looked at several. Stihl, echo, and husqvarna, all seemed to be around the same price for what i was wanting. I went through several smaller lower priced trimmers and finally decided to purchase a quality trimmer.

This did a great job for me getting rid of the taller stuff before taking the tractor and bush hog through. This machine will last a long time and hopefully the last i will need to purchase.

As promised, this heavy beast of a machine has tons of power! I also haven’t had the dreaded burned up engine problem so famous in reviews either. (Yet, knock on wood. ) But be warned: changing cutting tools has proven to be a problem.

I can’t currently get the string trimmer off, and thus can’t put the serious tools on to use what this burly little cutter was really made for. Tractor Supply was the only vendor that had these at the time.

Came unassembled in a big ol’ box.

This machine replaces a 1000w model which failed after four years of use. The strimmer spool is a poor feature which I replaced with one from my broken machine. I use 2. 4mm stimmer line which lasts longer than the thinner variety which the manufacturers recommend.

In fact the line which is supplied with this machine is totally inadequate meaning that it breaks even when used on grass let alone in rougher areas. The power cable is longer than the 1000w version and the slightly higher power means that the machine can cope with tougher undergrowth and the re-design on the attachment fixing means that the old problem of the attachment twisting in use is a thing of the past.

Old attachments however do not work with this machine as they need a plug on them, so when fitted to the machine they do not run. WHY CAN’T A BRITISH MANUFACTURER MAKE SUCH A USEFUL AN ECONOMICAL MACHINE SUCH AS THIS?.

This strimmer is powerful enough for most situations at home. It easily cuts through long grass. Once set up with the harness on it balances well and doesnt feel too heavy. The strimmer cord it comes with is a bit light for the power of the tool and I will use a slightly stronger thicker cord when I replace it.

Overall would recommend it.

Will use it only with brush cutter, strimmer head was coming loose cant buy line spool locally. Purchased a spare head so can have one loaded and just interchange them would expect line to be a bit heavier.

Excellent unit with either the line or brush cutter attachment. Made quick work of the brambles in the garden. Powerful machine I previously had a different brand with a 52cc engine and this one is far more well made and able to handle the job better with more ease and very quick and easy to start.

I purchased this brush cutter in order to deal with a mass of weeds and overgrowth on my allotment. It proved to be of good value and excellent quality and made short work of clearing my weeds, so much so I lost partial control and it made a slice in my steel shed about 18 inches long.

If I can I will update with a photo next time I visit.

I had already given feedback on this but to reiterate again Im happy with this item and would recommend. The only downside is the strimmer line doesnt feed and I gave up using it. The bush trimmer is great tho.

Does exactly what is required of it, and runs a long time on a 2Ah battery. Lightweight compared with the petrol driven strimmer it replaced. There wasn’t much line supplied with it, so I bought a reel of 1.

5mm strimmer cord, elsewhere on eBay.

i only bought this as I can use it without having to have leads all over, I have only tried it out as its getting late in the year, but it trimmed the edge of my lawn very nicely and quickly, its very easy to use.

I bought this trimmer for the wife but she can’t use it because it is to difficult to rotate the head,into the edging mode (you need hands like a gorilla to grip and rotate) and the auto feed tends not to work when on its side overall not a very good product,no wonder they updated this model !
