20 Best Tonneau Cover For Tundra (2023 Updated)

Ordered this cover for my new 2018 Tundra after reading many different reviews and doing some searches online. I wanted something that would be high enough quality to withstand the weather in FL and also look good while doing it.

I also had a price point in my mind I wanted to stay around which was $250 and this cover not only met that price point but also had solid reviews. After receiving nine I can say that the reviews were not wrong!!!This cover arrived packaged very well and had all the necessary equipment and brackets needed.

My truck has a spray in bed liner and rail system so I had to use the included metal brackets that fit into my rail system. The cover came out of the box inside a nice little cover that I suppose you could put the cover back inside if you had to take it off for any reason.

It also comes with additional seal stripping in case you don’t have a bed liner and there are still gaps between the cover and the truck bed. I didn’t appear to need them with my truck. The clamps and toggle locks were easy to setup.

The only small challenge I had was getting the metal brackets down my tail system just due to the paint on the rails. A few light taps with a mallet got them moved into position then tightened down with the included allen wrench.

Overall so far I am very happy with the purchase and looking forward to how well it holds up over the next few years. It feels and looks like a high quality cover and I was able to get fully installed/adjusted in about 15 mins (between interruptions from 3 of my daughters wanting to know what I was doing out in the garage.

Purchased this for a Toyota Tundra with the Bed-Rail System. For starters, the directions should tell you that half of the parts are in the bottom of the ‘sack’ that the cover is shipped in. I unboxed the cover, let the sack drop to the ground not knowing that some of the needed parts were in the bottom of it.

Got part way into the installation, couldn’t find the parts with the others that were not in the sack, and went inside to email the manufacturer. Then, picked up the sack, and found the missing hardware.

After getting through that, the installation was pretty straightforward. It took me, by myself, about 45 minutes to complete it (I’m slow and methodical though). I found the piece of glue-backed rubber gasket (goes along the top of the bed next to the cab) kind of flimsy.

We’ll see how it holds up. I did not have to use any of the rubber gasket along the top of the tailgate. I just snugged down the securing handles (they screw in/out depending on how much closing pressure you need) and it sealed.

I have not been through a car wash yet, but a couple of heavy rains, at highway speeds, yielded no leaks. The frame does feel, and is, very lightweight. The cover does start to flap slightly above around 60-65mph.

I didn’t hear it, but could see it out the rearview. We’ll see if it holds up over time with the stress of the vibration. Overall, great cover for the price. After one month in use, I would recommend it and would buy it again.

I have never written a product review in my life, primarily because most products don’t live up to the advertising hype. This product is very different. My wife and I are in our seventies and both have severe arthritis.

Working together we were able to make the installation in about thirty minutes. If I should need to remove it, re-installation should take about 10-minutes, now that we have everything adjusted up. I hoped that it would offer some weather protection, but never dreamed that it would keep the bed contents COMPLETELY dry.

This morning I put the cardboard box, the cover came in, into the bed (opened so it covered the whole bed), shut the tailgate and sprayed the whole thing with a water jet from my garden hose. I sprayed directly into the bed/cover juncture on three sides (I couldn’t get a direct shot at the side against the cab bulkhead), but I sprayed into the other three sides from varying angles.

I figured the cardboard would show me where there were leaks, so I could place the (supplied) weather stripping. When I pulled the cardboard out, there wasn’t a single drop of water anywhere on the cardboard or in the bed.

WOW!I don’t know how long the cover will last up here in the deserts of Eastern Washington, (High UV exposure), but I do know VALUE when I see it. I HIGHLY recommend this product!.

This product was advertised as fitting a 2005 Toyota Tundra. Even the box specified 2000-2006 model years. When I tried to install it, the rear handles were interfered by the bed structural support. The rear handles are too far back under the cover to clamp to a bedrail.

I returned this product to a NAPA store and they were most helpful.

I love the look of my new top, but hate the latches in the back. Spring loaded for me is not a good system. My wife has arthritis in her hands, and can’t pull them down. Had no problem with old latches that you just pushed in.

Wish I could switch back to old latches, but have new cover. Also, just don’t think spring loaded holds down as securely.

Crewmax Shortbed. As soon as you take this tonneau out of the box, you can tell its a great product. The cover sits flat, tight, & looks great. It took longer to line it up on the bed than it did to “install” it on the truck.

Only two small 1/2-inch gaps at the front due to the bed cap, but no issues with water getting in. This is the second EXTANG I have owned and it has beaten all expectations both times. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a good tonneau.

Received the Tygerpro Tonno the day after I ordered it. Packaging was excellent, there was no damage, and all the parts were there. It took me about 30 minutes from unboxing to finished installation.

The only issue is the instructions. They aren’t particularly clear on where the side rails insert into the cover bracket. Otherwise they’re pretty straightforward. I actually like written instructions as well as pictures, but that’s just me.

There is a three minute company video online as to how to install it. It requires a 10mm socket and #2 crosstip screwdriver. I was able to leave the bedliner in my truck. I did originally install the supplied weather stripping, but didn’t need to as the bedliner is already flush with the top of the bed.

The cover bracket already has foam rubber weather stripping attached, so adding the extra left an angular gap where the side rails rest on the bed. That’s not clear either. The cover itself seems well made for the price, and perfectly fits my 2015 Tundra w/o bed rails.

The additional parts for bed rail installation are included. Everything is nice and tight, and adjustment is easy. I recommend it.

I just wanted to reiterate how good this cover is for the price. I looked at a lot of other options that were much more expensive but really couldn’t bring myself to shell out that kind of money for a tonneau cover so I settled on this one and I’m really glad I did.

I’ve had it on for 8 months now and it’s still in great shape. It keeps the bed mostly dry and although I have gotten some moisture in there on heavy downpours it really wasn’t anything to make a fuss about.

I would never keep anything back there with the expectation of it being completely dry anyway (you’re going to get condensation anyway). I was a little concerned about the plastic handles not holding up but so far they’ve done just fine, and I use them a lot.

Just a tip for anyone who folds it up on a regular basis, make sure the handles are in their locked position (as they would be if you were locking the cover down onto the bed) and snapped into place in the top of the mount on the cover before you fold it otherwise you will end up puncturing a hole thru the cover when you fold it up.

You’ll see what I mean when you try to fold it up the first time.

For the price, it looks fantastic! Looks much better than the Truxedo cover I had on my Tacoma. Easy to use and easy to adjust tension. Came with a broken part but TonnoPro replaced it quickly. The let down is how weather-proof it is.

A big rain storm came through and the bed was soaked. Water seeped in from the sides and the front. But I really only use the cover to protect my Line-X bedliner.

Tonneau cover was easy to install and good quality for the price. Only installed 3 weeks ago so see how it holds up in the summer heat and sun. Would definitely recommend if looking for a cover in a good price range.

Never been a big fan of trucks with tonneau covers, but this makes my truck look awesome. Low and sleek design. Tight around the corners. Prevents any sort of prying hands and eyes from viewing from any side or angle.

Quality materials. Tough and strong as described. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a strong quality tonneau cover with the ease of this hard rolling cover that my 3 year old daughter can roll too!!! Just great.

I absolutely love this cover. 2 friends have it and recommended it to me. I have had snap covers and tri fold in the past but this one trumps them all. By far! I was leary of the price tag but I ended up getting a great deal after chatting with a sales associate here.

It’s easy to install, directions were very clear. Was certainly worth the extra cash. Construction is top notch. Only gripe was it took a while to ship, but it was free. I highly recommend this cover.

Really like this product, its the second one I’ve bought. One for a 2013 Tundra and now for a 2017 Tundra. This one was a little different than the first, watched the video, read the instructions, and everything worked out GREAT.

I’ve been researching tonneau covers for a while now and decided to go with the 4 panel Hard Folding Tonneau by Lear. It was really easy to install and it looks fantastic! I haven’t used it in the upright position yet but it seams really solid when in the open, upright position.

I’m glad I made this purchase.

Super easy to install. Took me literally 20 minutes. However on day 2, we had a heavy rain storm. I went out to see how it was holding up to the rain. Needless to say I was disappointed, because my bed was completely soaked.

There were several leaked through the metal slats of the panels. I called and explained what was going on. The customer service reps were awesome and insured me that the cover shouldn’t be leaking that bad, so they sent me a brand new one ASAP.

I received the new one and installed it, about a week later we had another huge rain storm. I went out to see how it looked, and to my amazement. was disappointed yet again. Water was dripping through the slats again.

I called customer service yet again and was told I could get a full refund or exchange it. But instead I went to home depot and bought Gorilla Waterproof Patch and Seal tape and began to take over all the slats from side to side.

Anywhere where there was a bend or bracket it got taped. After that was all said and done one of the back brackets that connect to the bed broke through the cover. I called Auto Accessories Garage again and the rep informed me they would transfer me to Extang who then sent a new flap (which was super easy to install).

I am not pleased with this product for the fact I had to put work in myself to prevent major leaking. I am okay with a little water as I get it’s not completely sealed, but this was ridiculous for the price.

Customer service was top notch. Overall select another cover, this one will tick you off!.

I wish it would have worked, but I had to return it. The top is really nice looking and looked good on my grey 2015 Tundra with rails. However, it leaked. It leaked even a little bit of dew in the morning, and when we had a steady rain (not a downpour or thunderstorm) the bed was totally wet.

My golf bag was soaked. Contacted Extang and asked if I could somehow tighten the back clamps, as they were really loose. Company representative said they were set at the factory and should not be messed with.

The weatherstripping on the top would not seal against my plastic bed top rails. The weatherstripping looked like the blade of a windshield wiper and the rubber just would not seal. I will give a big shout out to AutoAccessoriesGarage.

Com and their employees for the great customer service. I will be buying from them again once I research this issue further and can figure out a foldable tonneau cover that will work on my truck.

Ive only had it for two weeks so its a little early for an accurate review. 20-30 minutes to install with the deck rail system on my Tundra. Easy off and on. Two small leaks at the front corners where the body panels meet so Id say its a truck issue not Extang.

A little caulk took care of the problem. My golf clubs, shoes and towels stay dry so Im happy. I might write another review after six months when I can give a better assessment.

overall good quality however it arrived with a broken buckle clip and a missing bed rail spacer necessary for installation. lost 2 weeks unable to install cover due to this. still waiting on missing spacer to arrive.

manufacture needs to pack product better for shipping and improve quality control on its products. lost a lot of time making phone calls just to remedy this situation just to save a couple hundred dollars over other products on the market.

would probably spend a little more on something else to avoid this situation if I had a do over. it seems to be built well and it is priced well for a hard cover tri fold. so i have mixed feelings. will probably feel better when its finally installed on my truck.

The color matched my vehicle perfectly. The instructions were clear and specific to my truck. A couple of minor adjustments and the cover operates flawlessly. It really looks great.

1st off Autoanything has the best customer service of any auto after market products out there. This is my 2nd large purchase and they go above and way beyond to make you happy. As far as the cover, the paint is a perfect match and it fits like a glove.

The directions could be a little better. Also, Undercover needs to put more time and effort into packaging the cover. The cardboard box its shipped in isn’t very sturdy and the cover is only wrapped in a very thin material.

I singled handed this which took closer to 2 hours to install on my 2020 Tacoma. I believe I could have done it in an hour if the instructions were more precise. It came with a generic instruction and a special instruction sheet just for a Tacoma, I also found online on BAK’s website a slightly different instruction sheet relating to the Tacoma.

I won’t go into details, but with all 3 sheets being a bit different which made it extremely difficult to figure out causing mistakes and redo’s. The illustrations were not very clear which added to the frustration, but I got it done and am so far pleased.

I did not hook up the drain tubes as of yet, I really hate to drill into the bed and am trying to figure out a way to use the existing small drain holes by coming up with a way to use a tube reducer.

Love this BAK BakFlip G2 Tonneau Cover!! I really like the drop in feature that allows the cover to sit flush all the way around my truck bed, makes the truck look so much better. Also like the pull-latch features to open the cover, great security feature.

The instuctions can be better for the Toyota Tundra, YouTube instructions simplified the installation for me. Overall I’m estatic with the cover!!.

Installation was pretty easy and straightforward. I watched the installation video specific to my vehicle which helped a lot. Proper tools and patience are key. It fit perfectly and is nicely low profile.

This was my second Bak Flip. I had one on my old truck for 11 years. That one still looked and performed great when I sold the truck.

The Undercover Lux has proven to be the best option for my truck. Other tonneau covers I considered required drain tubes and for my truck drilling into the bed. Not a chance on that happening. The Lux fits the entire bed and allows water to roll off the top of the bed cover.

The color matched perfectly and the cover looks fantastic! One of my friends saw the cover installed, open it to see my bed rug and said, “Wow, your truck has a real trunk with carpet and everything.

This is my second cover from Undercover. First cover was an Inferno red LUX SE on a tocaoma Looked and matched perfect. This new cover is on my 2017 Crimson red Sierra. In bright sunlight the color looks very close to the factory color but in shade, it is several shades darker then the factory color.

The top is not smooth with ripples in it like you might see on tightly rippled beach sand. There are also a few dimples under the paint. Not super happy with this one after $1,400. 00.

The cover looks really good on my 2016 White Tundra. It was easy to install. In fact, I installed it the same day as my Bedrug bed liner, and the bed liner took longer to install than the UnderCover Elite LX Tonneau cover.

The construction is very solid, and the hardware looks beefy enough to do the job. It is, without doubt, very functional. They put a lot of thought into the design and it shows. It will provide an insulated barrier against the blazing sun for items in the trunk (bed).

I am so glad to have a bed cover. I wish I read about the product more cause I wanted water proof. Also it is missing a loop that attached to the back so it can be ties securely while rolled up. It was fairly easy to install and now I have a collector for bird poop lol.

Also the right side latch is already acting finicky and not as durable as the left.

Was quoted $100 to install at local shop. It took 2 people, with no experience, only 15 minutes to put this on. Vinyl looks sturdy enough, latches are strong when locking shut, clean look. This is will cover the entire bed rail, if you want to use bed rails get the edge model, which includes and adjustable tensioner and single lever lock.

I ordered this cover because I live in northern Maine and have had issues with other brands and how they closed in cold weather. Snaps and plastic loop just did not work well below 20 or 30 degrees. TruXedo closing system and Velcro worked perfect the first time at 10 degrees.

Easy to open and close and the retaining system when rolled up is so much better then the Velcro straps on the other ones I owned. great product at a great price. thank you very much.

Shipping took approximately a month. Frontier 5′ bed with cargo management system will not allow the installation of the factory provided cleats in approximately 12 positions on the side rails with the Extang mounting kit.

Extang did provide brackets that will facilitate installation of the factory provided cleats in all positions on the side rails. Extang is not making the brackets providing full function part of the kit.

FYI – no cargo management system installation is fine. With cargo management system I wouldn’t purchase again. Photos illustrate the approximate positions useable and non-useable with the brackets shipped in the kit.

This is my second Tonneau cover from American Trucking. I loved the first so much that I immediately ordered the same cover when I purchased my Ram 2500 (had a Ram 1500). All was good except I noticed some slight, but important, variations between the models.

(1) The newer model does not have the support straps that attach to the bed hooks close to the cab. Not sure if this will impact the security of the cover. (2) The bed lights that came on Model #1 are gone.

This is a HUGE disappointment since my new truck does not have OEM bed lights installed. I’ll deal with it, but that was a definite nice-to-have. (3) The latches to clamp the last panel down (closest to the tailgate) are quicker to install, but are made of plastic so I’m not sure how they will hold up.

Also, they seemingly may be in the way of cargo depending on how much I need to pack into the truck bed. Overall, it’s a nice cover. We’ll see if it stands up to the quality of it’s “older brother” that I loved so much.

I have had this on my 2014 Silverado Crew Cab, Short Bed, LTZ for three years now. This is, in my opinion, the sharpest tonneau cover out there. It keeps everything in my bed BONE dry. not even a drop of water after three years.

It also fits very snugly and I can take it off if I have to haul cargo in about 5 minutes and it take about 10 minutes to line it up and lock it down again. There is absolutely no drilling or fasteners involved in the installation of this thing.

I was initially a bit hesitant because of the four plastic and metal dogs that hold this thing down, but they have been rock solid the whole time with no signs of wear. The seals have held up perfectly.

I can confidently recommend this to anyone looking for a hard tri-fold cover. Its simply the best one out there.

Great product. Watched YouTube installation video. Very easy after paper instructions made it look difficult. Looks sharp works well. 2022 Maverick truck. Napa price very competive. Delivered a bit late however.

I bought this and it has drain tubing for the canisters. If your truck doesn’t have the drain EOM present then you’ll have to drill into your bed. Even the pictures leave out the drain tubing, as well as, the description leaving out this information.

I am really happy with this cover. I received it around 6pm and had it installed before 7pm. The directions were mostly good but a few more pictures and a bit more detail would help. It hasn’t rained yet so I can’t attest to it’s true water-tightness but the fit and finish is great and I see no reason for it to leak.

All the edges and areas where you would expect water to enter are tight. It also looks GREAT on the truck. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good tonneau cover.

We bought this cover for our Hyundai Santa Cruz. First its not remotely easy to install on Santa Cruz due to confusing instructions so we took it to Cap World which Access had recommended. They had it done fairly quick but manager showed me many faults in it design.

First of all it won’t roll back all the way because the first 6 inches is narrower than the rest of the bed which also means you can’t fully secure the cover side to side for the first 6 inches which lets cover look goofy in the front.

Another problem which may be related is no matter how much tension you put on the cover it vibrates badly over 50 mph and you would swear its going to come off. Think they rushed the design to be the first ones in the industry to have one for the Santa Cruz but its not engineered very well.

Would not recommend for Santa Cruz owners until they come up with revised edition. I’d return mine but I’ve already paid $60 to have it put on.

Full disclosure: I am not a hands-on project and usually do not even try. I needed the installation. No one wanted to try installing something they did not buy, shop that sold and installed Tonneau products and the shop I have taken my Japanese cars for care for the last 30 years.

So I read the included instructions and found them unclear as to how to proceed. YouTube provided a much easier-to-understand video and with its help and a few restarts and a final adjustment completed the task.

The finished product received rave reviews from my wife, so a win.

I purchased this cover at a really good savings and the cover is perfect for what I need done. Ive had a full solid cover and trifold on different vehicles and they all leak some water, and cost a lot more.

I just wanted something to keep stuff dry with minimum ease of removal when needle and also keep my truck looking nice. This cover fits the bill. Plus 3year warranty cant go wrong. Plus it was really easy to install.
