POLLO GUISADO (DOMINICAN CHICKEN) Ingredients * 2 lbs of chicken cut into small pieces * Juice of 1 lime * A pinch of oregano * 1 small red onion cut into fine strips * ½ cup of chopped celery, (optional) * 1 teaspoon Knorr Chicken Flavor Bouillon Granulated, (more may be necessary) * ½ teaspoon mashed garlic * 2 tablespoons olive oil * 1 teaspoon of granulated white sugar * 2 cup water * 1 green bell pepper cut into fine strips * 1 red bell pepper cut into fine strips * 4 plum tomatoes cut into quarters * ¼ cup of pitted green olives, (optional) * 1 cup Hunts tomato sauce * A small bunch of fresh cilantro leaves, chopped * ¼ teaspoon pepper Instructions 1.

Prep chicken: Cut the chicken into small pieces and place in a bowl that has a lid. Season the chicken pieces with the lime juice. 2. Season chicken: Mix the chicken, oregano, onion, celery, salt, and garlic.

Marinate for 30 minutes. 3. Brown chicken: In a pot heat the oil over medium heat, add sugar, and wait until it browns. 4. Add the chicken (reserve all the other things in the marinade for use in a later step) and cook and stir until the meat is light brown.

5. Braise: Add 2 tablespoons of water. Cover and simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring and adding water by the tablespoon as it becomes necessary to prevent it from burning. 6. Add vegetables: Stir in the vegetables that you had set aside from marinating the chicken, plus cubanelle pepper, tomatoes, and olives.

Cover, and simmer until the vegetables are cooked through, adding water by the tablespoon and stirring as it becomes necessary. 7. Make sauce: Add the tomato sauce and half a cup of water, simmer over low heat to produce a light sauce.

It really is thick and rich tasting and not too sweet like the other brands. It’s tomatoey with the perfect amount of tang. Awesome on whatever you like to eat ketchup with, especially burgers and fries! The price point is great too so you can’t go wrong.

Try this!! The knmy issue with this is when its half bottle you turn it upside down and squeeze, then squeeze a little more, then squeeze a little more. Still nothing. So, you squeeze just a little bit more, and BOOM, at least two tablespoons come out.

I was coming here to try and see if the recipe has changed at all over the past year or so. The sauce is still good, but seems to still have a more acidic or metallic taste/flavor to it. We’ve tried adding sugar and baking soda to help cut back on the acidity.

My family has been using Hunts for over 40 years. After reading through sone of the reviews I see I’m not the only one who noticed the change in taste/flavor from the original recipe. We are not fans and hope you consider switching back to the original recipe soon otherwise you’re going to be losing sone loyal customers.

I bought 12×1 of these since there was no option to buy a 12-pack. The packaging of these cartons was terrible! They were simply thrown in a soft box without any protection and as a result all the individual tomato boxes were crushed.

Fortunately, none of them burst open. We have previously ordered a 12-pack and they came in the original cardboard carton which protected them.

These are some of the best tomatoes on the market. I regularly use the finely chopped, chopped, and strained varieties. They always taste like fresh tomatoes went into them. Thanks to the packaging, they never taste metallic and can be stacked easily for tidy long-term storage.

Since “discovering” POMI last year, it’s become my go-to base for Salsa PLUS virtually any recipe using finely chopped, ripe tomatoes. So happy to have these available and at at good price from Vitacost! It also freeze dries well, resulting in concentrated tomato powder, which will be handy in the future.

This is a good product. No complaining on it. However, like so often the case the cans were too damaged to use. Of the eight cans, six were dented or crushed badly and one had a minor dent. Only one was unblemished.

As usual, the shipping boxes were undamaged and there appeared to be adequate packing material. The only conclusion I can come to each time is that the product was damaged during handling at the distribution center.

Unless a canned good is only available for shipping I recommend not buying it.

Bought 3 cases in past few months because of the great reviews. Today I decided to unpack the cases to place on my pantry shelf, as I was running out of a previous brand. I was astonished that ALL 16 cans in 2 cases were crushed, seriously dented, but the packaging gave no clue of damaged contents.

One case had no dents. Will return 2 asap. And I will open all cartons of canned goods promptly from now on. Hope the crushed tomatoes in the undamaged cans turn out as great as reviewed by others.

I usually use Hunt’s crushed tomatoes and tried these Tuttorosso for the first time. Hunt’s has small pieces of tomato, including a little bit of tomato skin. The Tuttorosso has is more uniformly and finely crushed, very much like the jarred Italian tomato passata made by Mutti and others.

(The Mutti passata also says “puree” on the bottle, but neither the Mutti passata nor the Tuttorosso crushed tomato is very thick, unlike Hunt’s tomato puree, which is quite thick. ) The Tuttorosso does not have large basil leaves, such as you will find in the cans of Cento peeled whole San Marzano tomato.

If you want chunks of tomato, I would use another brand or type, but I was very pleased with the Tuttorosso and will be buying it again.

I have purchased this product numerous times. It is such a wonderfully thick tomato sauce with excellent flavor. I ran out and used another canned brand and immediately noticed it was much thinner. You can’t go wrong with this brand of tomato sauce.

There is a lot to like about this product! I like that this is easier to open than a can! I imagine it is also healthier for tomato sauce to not be canned. I like that it is straight-sided and convenient for pantry storage.

I like the size and that I have the choice of no salt added. The one thing that I don’t like as much as the cans is that it is hard to get all of the sauce out of this carton. Other than that, I like it better than the cans and intend to keep buying tomato sauce in these cartons.

It was ITALIAN NIGHT with Homemade Meatballs and Marinara Sauce with the family! 🍝 CLASSIC MARINARA SAUCE Yields: 3 1/2 cups, enough for 1 pound of pasta INGREDIENTS * 1 28-ounce can crushed San Marzano tomatoes * ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil * 7 garlic cloves, chopped * Small dried whole chile, or pinch crushed red pepper flakes * 1 teaspoon kosher salt * 1 large fresh basil sprig or 1/4 teaspoon dried basil * 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano, or more to taste INSTRUCTIONS 1.

Pour tomatoes into a large bowl. 2. Pour 1 cup water into can and slosh it around to get tomato juices. Reserve. 3. In a large skillet (do not use a deep pot) over medium heat, heat the oil. When it is hot, add garlic.

4. As soon as garlic is sizzling (do not let it brown), add the tomatoes, then the reserved tomato water. Add whole chile or red pepper flakes, basil, oregano (if using) and salt. Stir. 5. Place basil sprig, including stem, on the surface (like a flower).

This is the crushed tomatoes that I always purchase. I love using them when I make lamb rack you. I’ve never had any issues and I really like that they use San Marzano tomatoes because they’re very high-quality.

If you aren’t using San marzano for your sauces, you’re doing it wrong! Hands down the best brand of canned tomato, non negotiable for my bolognese sauce. A definite staple to have in any kitchen, and will always be brand loyal!.

I use many of the rice and beans recipes off of the Goya bean cans. Many of those recipes include as an ingredient. The 8 ounce can is perfect if you double the recipe on the 15 ounce can of beans. This sauce is different than regular tomato sauce.

It has some extra ingredients that make the rice and beans taste extra delicious. I highly recommend the sauce and the recipes.

I love the taste of this sauce. The seasonings and sea salt are blended so well. The flavor it gives my food is wonderful not to spicy with just the right amount of a touch of zing.

I love to make spaghetti sauce from scratch and I have never used San Marzano tomatoes before. These are actually certified and made a world of difference. This pasta sauce turned out absolutely mind-blowing.

The acidity level was low, the tomato sauce itself ended up being saucy yet creamy and I added a lot of vegetables come because I like my sauce to be filled with garlic, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and some red pepper flakes.

I will be using these San Marzano from now on. They were not expensive and I was able to find them easily at my local grocery store. Yum!.

Lydia Bastianich (Lydia’s Kitchen on PBS) uses Cento brand, and said so on her program. They are nearly twice the Walmart price in grocery stores. The difference is unbelievable. Diced tomatoes from any other company are watery, as are whole tomatoes.

These tomatoes are simply the best and well worth the cost. Four tins required to make a wonderful sauce. In the best olive oil, fry a chopped, white onion and two sticks of diced celery for 15 minutes, with a large pinch of salt.

Then fry plenty of garlic for one minutes. Meanwhile, crush the tomatoes with your hands in a large bowl and remove the stringy bits. Add to the onion, celery and garlic and simmer on a very low setting for two hours.

Add chopped parsley and basil to taste. Not too much, say two heaped dessert spoons. It’s that simple. And it’s delicious. Great with pasta and as a sauce for lasagne, bolognese etc.

Ludicrously expensive but with flavour to match. Google San Marzano and you’ll see that they’re pretty much the best out there for pizza and pasta sauces. Simple works better with a hint of garlic, restrained seasoning and lots of fresh basil.

Are they worth six times the cost of a regular can? Your taste buds, your wallet. BTW if you buy tomatoes to heat up and stick on toast for breakfast, avoid these, they need slow and gentle cooking to bring out.

I make parmesan chicken that is better than our local Italian Italian using Red Gold sauce, and my chili and sloppy joes are always a hit with Red Gold tomato paste. My grandmother was using Red Gold when I was a teen, and my dad used to eat Red Gold tomatoes right out of the can, so I guess it runs in the family! We are all Red Gold fans.

Absolutely the best spaghetti sauce in stores. It taste 100% homemade its filled with chunks of fresh garlic that you can see. The garlic taste is perfectly even balanced with the tomato. Its definitely a sauce that the longer it simmers the more robust it is in flavor.

Don’t get me wrong a good 20 min on the stove will have you drilling, you don’t have to wait long. I also really appreciate that there is no sugar or preservatives in the sauce. The freshness is so important for a good meal.

Sadly I found these chopped Mutti Tomatoes were just not what I liked. Firstly virtually all chefs and so many Italophiles do like this brand very much I found that they are more mulched than chopped, the chop is so fine to me it was more like a Passata.

yes I am sure the quality is excellent but I found the chop just too fine. To me they are more suited to a curry or a chilli. I have given them 3 stars more out of my opinion not because they are not good quality.

I have been making my own tomato sauce for many years, mainly using tinned plum tomatoes which I crushed with my hands before cooking. Recently I used Mutti cherry tomatoes and they made the best tomato sauce ever.

I whizzed them before cooking leaving a bit of texture. I used three tins, and finely chopped three shallots, 1 small carrot, 1 stick of celery, and three cloves of garlic. I fried the vegetables and when they were soft added the tomatoes.

When the sauce was warmed I added half a packet of chopped basil leaves, and left the sauce uncovered to simmer on the lowest possible heat for three hours No need for sugar. Exceptional. 10/10 from me and my family.

Napolina chopped tinned tomatoes are quality. I don’t compromise when it comes to cooking with great quality produce. Napolina tomatoes are not watered down like other brands. They are chunky and delicious.

I’m addicted – best tinned tomatoes ever. Made delicious cold soup in the heatwave too, when blended with a few herbs, seasoned and chilled.

Little seasoning is needed and it’s almost like putting A1 on a steakhouse filet mignon- it’d be insulting to the restaurant. A little salt brings these to perfection. Note, they are a bit acidic, but that’s the point of San Marzano tomatoes.

If want something sweeter, put ketchup on it, peasant!.

Contadina sauce is the ONLY brand of tomato sauce I buy. I use it multiple times weekly in pastas, chili, as a dipping sauce for some types of appetizers/snacks, soups, etc. My kitchen cupboard is stocked with cans of Contadina.

It doesn’t taste like canned sauce, it tastes like homemade sauce and I’ve yet to find any other brand out there that is even half as good as Contadina~! I was buying both the Italian Herbs and Thick and Zesty sauces and loved them both.

Unfortunately, I can no longer find Thick and Zesty, I even emailed the company and found its no longer available in my immediate area. For now, I’use Italian Herb only and its absolutely delicious. This is a nice, thick and flavorful sauce.

I usually use Contadina crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce for all of my sauces and this time I was very disappointed. The crushed tomatoes had so many pieces of tomato skins in it. While using the sauce on pasta you kept getting pieces of the tomato skins stuck in your mouth.

As I said, I typically use this brand but Im not sure I will take my chances again and ruin a pot of sauce.

Contadina is my favorite brand of canned tomato products when I can’t find San Marzanno tomatoes (which is most of the time). It is zesty, tangy, not very sweet like most tomato sauces. I use this when fresh tomatoes aren’t available I have run out of the ones I have canned or frozen from my summer garden.

I use this to make my famous homemade marinara sauce my homemade tomato vegetable soup. It is delicious every time because I use the best canned tomatoes that are sold in every grocery store big box store: Contadina!.

I love that the sauce has a great taste. The sauce comes with whole garlic, which is delicious. We are essential state drivers with that said the size of the jar is a perfect serving size for two our three.

Plus it takes very little storage space in our unit ! I highly recommend to all including truck drivers.

This is my absolute favorite brand of spaghetti sauce. It has such a good rich flavor. It taste like it has been cooked for six hours. It is so delicious it’s true authentic sauce to me at least. Turn anybody who loves a delicious bowl of spaghetti I would really really recommend this for you.
